Saints | Two Saints receivers cut    Sat Sep 5, 05:00 PM

Saints | Josh Morgan on roster bubble    Sun Jul 19, 10:02 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Josh Morgan will have a chance to compete for a roster spot during training camp after he performed well during offseason workouts. Morgan will have to be one of the team's top four receivers if he wants a chance to make the roster.

Footballguys view: Josh Morgan has always been a player who has failed to play up to his natural potential. At this point in his pro career, Morgan is an underachieving talent who even dynasty league owners should not be dialed into. The Saints are his fourth (and perhaps final) stop in the NFL since he came out of Virginia Tech as a sixth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2008 NFL draft.

Saints | Josh Morgan has had good offseason    Thu Jul 2, 06:24 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Josh Morgan battled TE Benjamin Watson for most catches in practices this offseason.

Footballguys view: The Saints have two wide receivers set on the depth chart in Brandin Cooks and Marques Colston, but the rest of the depth chart is unsettled. Nick Toon is the returning #3 receiver, but he wasn't an impact player in his time on the field in 2014, which opens the door for Morgan, 2014 practice squad WRs Seantavius Jones and Brandon Coleman, and deep threat Joseph Morgan to seize a larger role in the offense. The #3 WR role probably won't be fantasy relevant, but the quality of the player could affect the value of Colston and tight end Josh Hill.

Saints | Josh Morgan signs    Mon May 18, 07:50 AM

Free-agent WR Josh Morgan (Bears) signed with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, May 17. Morgan was targeted just 19 times last year with 10 catches for 70 yards.

Footballguys view: Morgan ran 239 routes last year and moved the chains four times on his 10 receptions. He's barely hanging on in the league at this point in his career, and Morgan is no lock to make the Saints final roster.

Bears | Chicago looking for WRs    Fri Mar 6, 05:33 PM

The Chicago Bears are unlikely to use the seventh overall pick of the NFL Draft on a wide receiver, but the upcoming class of receivers gives them many options to complement WR Alshon Jeffery. They could look to University of Miami WR Phillip Dorsett, who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash in the second round. The Bears also hosted free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) for a visit this week. After trading WR Brandon Marshall, the current roster features WRs Josh Bellamy, Marc Mariani, Josh Morgan and Marquess Wilson. Jeffery may be moved to the No. 1 receiver role, but he averaged just four catches in the last three games with Marshall injured in 2014.

Footballguys view: Jeffery is the WR1 now, but the Bears still might add a big-name wide receiver through the draft or free agency.

Bears | Marquess Wilson, Josh Morgan to step up    Fri Dec 5, 03:53 PM

Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson will likely be used to replace WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) on the outside, while WR Josh Morgan will likely move into the slot-receiving role.

Footballguys view: Wilson is worth stashing in dynasty leagues, as he had been working with Marshall and Jeffery in the offseason and had generated buzz before going down with a shoulder injury in the preseason.

Bears | Josh Morgan to see time as No. 3 WR    Mon Aug 18, 06:47 PM

Chicago Bears WR Josh Morgan will work as the No. 3 wide receiver during practice this week and could also fill that role during the third preseason game, according to head coach Marc Trestman.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Morgan can hold off veteran Santonio Holmes for the WR3 position in Chicago. Morgan has a better size/speed combination, but he's been unable to play up to his potential as a pro. Holmes agreed to terms with the Bears on Saturday as he looks to get his NFL career back on track.

Bears | Plenty of WRs duking it out    Sat Jun 7, 10:55 PM

The No. 4 and 5 wide receiver jobs for the Chicago Bears are up for grabs, with WRs Armanti Edwards, Josh Morgan, Micheal Spurlock, Terrence Toliver, Eric Weems and Chris Williams set to battle for jobs during training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: We'd like to see Toliver get a chance because of his athleticism and body control. Morgan has been a disappointment as a pro because of inconsistency, but he's arguably the most naturally talented player listed above.

Bears | Marquess Wilson works at No. 3 WR    Wed May 28, 10:23 PM

Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson was working as the No. 3 receiver on the first-team offense, and appears he will get first crack at winning the job. WRs Josh Morgan and Eric Weems are also in the mix.

Footballguys view: With Domenik Hixon down with an ACL injury (and likely retiring) the No. 3 spot is wide open. Wilson's biggest competition is Josh Morgan, fresh off an uninspiring stint with Washington. Wilson has good size and decent speed, and could spend a lot of time outside with Alshon Jeffery. Head coach Marc Trestman wants to use more three-wide sets, so this is important to track. The third receiver could have WR4 value with some upside.

Bears | Josh Morgan arrested on a simple assault charge    Mon Apr 28, 05:59 PM

Chicago Bears WR Josh Morgan was arrested on a simple assault charge Sunday, April 27, for allegedly punching a valet driver in the mouth. Morgan was released on a police citation promising to appear in court at a later date.

Footballguys view: That's not good. The legal process will have to work through the details here. Morgan was just added by the Bears, and this isn't the type of first impression he'd like to make with his new team.

Bears | Joshua Morgan likely to compete for backup role    Mon Apr 21, 05:04 PM

Bears | Joshua Morgan signed    Mon Apr 21, 03:54 PM

The Chicago Bears have signed free-agent WR Joshua Morgan (Redskins) to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Morgan is a good blocker and a rugged receiver, but a leg injury on a meaningless play in 2011 seems to have sidetracked his career development after Washington gave him a much too large two-year deal for over ten million dollars. He'll push second-year receiver Marquess Wilson and free agent Domenik Hixon to be the #3 in a potent passing offense.

Panthers | Interested in Joshua Morgan    Wed Mar 19, 01:42 PM

Redskins | No talks with Joshua Morgan     Mon Mar 17, 02:44 PM

The Washington Redskins have not had any contract talks with free-agent WR Joshua Morgan (Redskins) at this point. Morgan will work out with Redskins QB Robert Griffin III next week.

Footballguys view: Morgan has talent, but he's never put it all together. Injuries and inconsistencies have held him back as a pro.

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Joshua Morgan likely will have to accept a lower salary if he wants to re-sign with the Redskins this offseason.

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) will need knee surgery and is done for the year, according to head coach Mike Shanahan.

Redskins | Joshua Morgan could return to starting lineup    Tue Nov 19, 02:10 PM

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Joshua Morgan, who was inactive in favor of WR Nick X. Williams as a punt returner in Week 11, could return to the starting lineup if WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) needs surgery to fix a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee. 'I've got a lot of belief in Josh Morgan,' Shanahan said. 'I have a lot of confidence in Josh that he'll come back strong and help us this week as a receiver. But I explained to him what he needs to do in both special teams and wide receiver to get to a level that I think he can get to. I think he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl player and I want to get that out of him.' Williams muffed a punt and failed to field another against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Morgan could climb out of the doghouse because of injuries at the WR position. He's a talented player but has failed to play up to his potential as a pro.

The Washington Redskins have declared LB Brandon Jenkins, DL Chris Neild, TE Fred Davis, SS Jose Gumbs, OG Josh LeRibeus, WR Joshua Morgan, QB Rex Grossman inactive for Week 11.

Redskins | Leonard Hankerson gets another start    Mon Sep 30, 01:29 PM

Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson started over WR Joshua Morgan for the second straight week and caught four passes for 49 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Hankerson is consistent with his inconsistencies. He's a big, physical wideout with a large wingspan who can catch passes placed above the defense. However, his routes aren't that crisp and his concentration lapses from time to time. This makes Hankerson more of a low end flex play, despite his increased role.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Joshua Morgan (hamstring) left practice early Thursday, Aug. 1, because of a strained hamstring.

Footballguys view: Morgan is a strong receiver who can make plays downfield. We've been waiting for Morgan to play up to his potential ever since he came into the league. Injuries have plagued him during his entire career. No word on how severe this injury is but it's just another reminder that Morgan is injury prone.

Redskins | Joshua Morgan feeling good    Sun May 26, 11:22 AM

'I feel better than I thought I was going to feel,' Morgan said. 'I thought it was going to be little stuff here and there, but I feel a lot better. Everybody says I'm running real good. All the coaches can see me getting in and out of my cuts a lot better.'
