Jaguars | Alan Ball expected to miss Week 8    Thu Oct 23, 03:52 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Alan Ball (biceps) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 23, and is considered highly unlikely to play in Week 8, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson to start    Thu Oct 23, 03:51 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson will start at running back in Week 8 even if RB Toby Gerhart (foot) is active, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Gerhart will receive some playing time if he plays.

Footballguys view: He should start as he's been much more effective than Toby Gerhart. Even when healthy, Gerhart seemed to be wearing molasses shoes. At best, Robinson is a low-end RB2 with upside which really tells you all you need to know about those molasses shoes Gerhart wore (which Nike should not put out for the public).

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart appears ready    Thu Oct 23, 10:37 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) appears ready to return in Week 8, in the opinion of beat writer Hays Carlyon. The team contends they will mix and match running backs.

Footballguys view: We're not sure you can tell the difference between Gerhart being "ready" and "hurt" as he was equally ineffective with both tags. We think the Jaguars will say the same thing and keep Denard Robinson as their chief back, if not starter. Robinson is a good flex start--consider him an RB3 in wider formats.

Jaguars | Wednesday practice report    Wed Oct 22, 04:13 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Alan Ball (bicep) and DE Andre Branch (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. C Luke Bowanko (ankle), CB Aaron Colvin (knee) and S Craig Loston (hamstring) were limited.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart limited Wednesday    Wed Oct 22, 04:11 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: Gerhart may play this week, but his role will be as a backup behind Denard Robinson. It's safe for most re-draft fantasy owners to move on from Gerhart.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson praised by coach    Tue Oct 21, 04:13 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson was recently lauded by head coach Gus Bradley. Bradley said Robinson is extremely competitive and the drive to succeed and get better came from within for Robinson.

Footballguys view: Robinson is the lead back for the Jaguars until further notice. His speed and explosiveness are quite noticeable when he gets to the second level of the defense. We can recommend him as a RB2/flex play in good matchups. Against tougher teams, it's best to consider Robinson more of a flex player for your fantasy team.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to practice soon?    Tue Oct 21, 04:08 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (ankle) is expected to be able to practice next week. Lewis is on the short-term Reserve/Injured list with a high ankle sprain.

Footballguys view: The Clay Harbor express will be ending soon. If you've picked up Harbor in free agency, you might want to get him in the lineup soon. When Lewis is back, Harbor will be a player you can move on from.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart progressing    Tue Oct 21, 04:05 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart is progressing from a foot injury that has caused him to miss the last two games. His status will be updated Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: Gerhart is progressing, but he's going to come back to a new role with the Jaguars. Denard Robinson has emerged as the featured runner with rookie Storm Johnson working as a part-time player. When healthy, Gerhart should take over for Johnson in that limited role.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart to be reevaluated    Mon Oct 20, 02:51 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) will be reevaluated later in the week, according head coach Gus Bradley.

Footballguys view: Gerhart looks like he's lost his starting job to Denard Robinson. When healthy, Gerhart might get some time as a reserve runner behind Robinson.

Jaguars | Paul Posluszny going on IR    Mon Oct 20, 01:05 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny (pectoral) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Week 7.

Footballguys view: Posluszny is a tackling machine, and the Jaguars defense could have trouble replacing him in the lineup. He's got a lot to prove when he comes back next year with his $7.4 million cap number.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson rushed 22 times for 127 yards in the Week 7 game Sunday, Oct. 19. He was the team's first 100-yard rusher in almost a calendar year. Head coach Gus Bradley was somewhat vague when asked if Robinson would keep the featured back role. 'Yeah, I think so. We'll look at the film. He did a good job and we hope to get Toby (Gerhart) back,' Bradley said.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson comes up big    Sun Oct 19, 11:02 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson ran for a career-high 127 yards with a touchdown in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. 'The last time I carried the ball 20 times I was in college,' Robinson said Sunday, Oct. 19. 'It's a great feeling. We knew it was coming. We've just got to stack them and up and get back to work.'

Footballguys view: Robinson looks like the featured back going forward--even when Toby Gerhart is back and healthy. Fantasy owners need to realize the Jaguars are always going to use some form of RBBC, even if Robinson is their top guy.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson starting    Sun Oct 19, 11:43 AM

Jaguars | Week 7 Inactives    Sun Oct 19, 11:38 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared LB Jeremiah George, CB Jeremy Harris, WR Mike Brown, OT Sam Young, WR Tavarres King, RB Toby Gerhart, OG Tyler Shatley inactive for Week 7.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars will employ a three-headed committee at running back again this week with Gerhart out. None are more than desperation plays against the Browns.

Jaguars | Jags to use three-headed RB monster    Fri Oct 17, 07:55 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Storm Johnson and Denard Robinson will split first- and second-down snaps in the Week 7 game against the Cleveland Browns, while RB Jordan Todman will handle third-down duties with RB Toby Gerhart (foot) ruled out for a second straight game.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart ruled out    Fri Oct 17, 02:17 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) has been ruled out for the second straight week in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. 'He's really improved, but I think it's at the point now where if we give him these extra couple days we're hoping that it won't be every week that it's something that we're dealing with,' head coach Gus Bradley said. Gerhart didn't practice all week and is still having minor problems with his foot. However, he thinks he can return against the Miami Dolphins Oct. 26.

Footballguys view: This year has been a disaster for the free agent pickup and his fantasy owners. He can be dropped in all but the very deepest leagues.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart doesn't practice    Thu Oct 16, 04:04 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) did not practice again Thursday, Oct. 16.

Footballguys view: Gerhart was putting up aggressively mediocre numbers before he got hurt and it looks like he won't be playing this weekend. It's a solid matchup against a soft Cleveland run defense, so Storm Johnson is worth a look. Storm was more of a light downpour last week, scoring a touchdown but also averaging just 2.1 yards a carry. His opportunities could be good, but his struggles behind this line are not. We see him as a low-end RB3 or RB4.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart might get week off    Wed Oct 15, 03:59 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) may get another week off to further rest his injured foot, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Bradley said Gerhart's foot would be evaluated Thursday, Oct. 16.

Footballguys view: If Gerhart gets the week off, the same number of fantasy owners will rely on him if he does play--zero. Gerhart has not looked good this year, so even if he's a desperation flex play (if he plays), you can't feel good about it.

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart doesn't practice    Wed Oct 15, 03:35 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Footballguys view: Even if he does play on Sunday against the Browns, Gerhart is not worth a spot on your fantasy roster. Maybe as a RB4/flex play, but we don't feel confident about his potential production.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson was on snap count    Tue Oct 14, 01:29 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson was on a snap count in Week 6 in his first career start. He carried just 10 times, and head coach Gus Bradley said that's exactly what the team had planned for him. Johnson had 21 yards on the ground and also scored a touchdown. "His toughness and things like that were there," Bradley said. "But, there's a couple of areas and just his overall reads and where we actually want the play to hit. He hit it more front side where he could bring it backside, so things like that."

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are hoping to see that snap count rise in the near future. However, Toby Gerhart should be returning soon from his foot injury, and he may get first crack at the starter's workload. We'd avoid this situation, but it bears monitoring in deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Cecil Shorts listed as probable    Fri Oct 10, 04:57 PM

Footballguys view: Shorts has receovered earlier than expected from his latest hamstring injury, which is a boon to Blake Bortles, but not enough to make Shorts worth picking up. His star has fallen significantly because he can't stay healthy.

Jaguars | Storm Johnson probable    Fri Oct 10, 04:46 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as probable for Week 6.
