Jaguars | Nic Jacobs has fracture Sun May 29, 02:56 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Nic Jacobs (hand) suffered a hairline fracture in his left hand May 2 while hitting a blocking sled. He will be in a cast until next week. Jacobs has felt a different during practice because of his weight loss, though, as he shed 15 pounds after playing at 290 pounds last season. He said he feels a lot quicker and more explosive with increased acceleration.
|Footballguys view: Jacobs is competing for a spot on the depth chart behind Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis. There's not much fantasy value there with him, even in super-deep dynasty leagues.|
Jaguars | Malik Jackson enjoying new role Sat May 28, 12:40 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars DT Malik Jackson said he is enjoying the freedom he has in head coach Gus Bradley's defense that relies on the three-technique tackle providing constant interior pressure.
|Footballguys view: After paying Jackson a $85 million contract, the Jaguars are going to let him loose against the passer. He was a strong edge rusher for the Broncos last year, but his six sacks in 2015 could be doubled this year with his new team.|

Jaguars | Blake Bortles meets with Julius Thomas Fri May 27, 04:53 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he met with TE Julius Thomas multiple times this offseason because he wants the same chemistry with Thomas that he had last year. 'We had a chance this offseason to sit down multiple times, watch film and talk about things,' Bortles said. 'Talk about what he wanted from me and what I wanted from him and how we can quickly get on the same page to grow together.'
|Footballguys view: Thomas is a stud when healthy...but he's never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. The Jaguars are building something good on offense, and Thomas can be a big part of what they do in the passing game--especially in the red zone. He's a low-end TE1 with the potential to catch double-digit touchdowns.|

Jaguars | Jermey Parnell fractures hand Tue May 24, 12:44 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Jermey Parnell (hand) suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand during organized team activities Monday, May 23.
|Footballguys view: Another day, and another injury for the Jaguars. This injury is not considered major, and Parnell will continue to work during individual drills. He will be limited for the rest of team activities and minicamp.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey will return for camp Tue May 24, 11:49 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB/S Jalen Ramsey (knee) underwent surgery on his meniscus Tuesday, May 24, and he's expected to return in time for training camp.
|Footballguys view: That's great news for the Jaguars. Ramsey is a player who doesn't need to come off the field. The rookie can roam the field as a free safety with a ball-hawking mentality. He can play slot corner if needed, and Ramsey isn't afraid to mix it up near the line of scrimmage in run support.|
Jaguars | Dante Fowler limited Mon May 23, 08:00 PM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) was limited during organized team activities Monday, May 23, and will be limited again Tuesday, May 24.
|Footballguys view: We're excited to see Fowler fully healthy and rushing the passer. Fowler may be allowed to fully participate Thursday, May 26, if he does not have any problems with his knee after consecutive practices.|
Jaguars | Dante Fowler wearing brace Mon May 23, 05:55 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) is wearing a brace on his left knee to help protect the anterior cruciate ligament he tore last offseason.
|Footballguys view: Fowler will be wearing that brace until he's fully comfortable coming back after missing all of his rookie season. The young pass-rusher said it felt good coming back, but he knows he still has work to do to make a full recovery.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey to play a lot Mon May 23, 01:50 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) will play a lot in his rookie season, according to general manager David Caldwell. Caldwell thinks tests on Ramsey's torn meniscus this week will come back positive. However, the coaching staff is still 'holding their breath' that the second opinion Ramsey receives will confirm the injury is minor.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey should play a lot as he's the type of player who doesn't need to come off the field. Early indications point to his knee injury being somewhat minor, and we hope that's the case. Ramsey can roam the field as a ball-hawking free safety and even play slot corner for the Jaguars if needed.|
Jaguars | Allen Hurns limited in OTAs Mon May 23, 12:52 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (hernia) was limited during organized team activities Monday, May 23, due to a sports hernia.
|Footballguys view: Hurns and Allen Robinson (hamstring) are banged up this offseason. They'll be wisely cautious with both star receivers.|

Jaguars | Luke Bowanko needs surgery Mon May 23, 12:42 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars C Luke Bowanko (hip) hurt the labrum in his right hip and will have surgery. He is expected to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.Link to story
Jaguars | Jonathan Woodard injured Mon May 23, 12:42 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Jonathan Woodard (Achilles'), a seventh-round pick in this year's draft, hurt his Achilles during on-field workouts and had surgery to fix the tendon. Woodard will be put on the Physically Unable to Perform list and is expect to miss most, if not all, of the 2016 season.Link to story
Jaguars | Luke Joeckel playing some guard Mon May 23, 11:40 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Luke Joeckel played some guard in organized team activities Monday, May 23.
|Footballguys view: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you another version of Robert Gallery. Like Gallery, Joeckel was a top-5 pick who is better inside at guard than tackle. Gallery was a star inside at guard for the Raiders, but we'll see if Joeckel can make a positive impression working inside for the Jaguars.|
Jaguars | Dante Fowler practices Mon May 23, 11:39 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) participated in organized team activities Monday, May 23.
|Footballguys view: We can't wait to see what Fowler can do on Sundays. The 3rd-overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft is a rookie again this year after suffering a season-ending knee injury last May in minicamp. When healthy, Fowler can create a ton of pressure from the edge as a pass-rusher for the Jags.|
Jaguars | Allen Robinson out with hamstring issue Mon May 23, 11:37 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) was out of practice Monday, May 23, with a hamstring injury.
|Footballguys view: No word on the severity of this injury. Robinson is a star, and the Jaguars will wisely be cautious with him as he deals with this hamstring. That type of injury can linger if not treated properly.|

Jaguars | Chris Ivory successful on first down Mon May 23, 12:01 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory's 736 yards gained on first-down carries last year were the third most in the NFL, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Ivory will handle more carries on first and second down than RB T.J. Yeldon, and Yeldon will serve as the primary third-down back.
|Footballguys view: Yeldon's dynasty owners were excited about what he showed last year during his rookie season. The addition of Ivory this offseason throws a wrinkle in those prospects for 2016. We'll be watching to see how both of these RBs are used leading up to the regular season. At this time, Ivory has a more favorable ADP (7.07) than does Yeldon (8.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey signed Sun May 22, 10:29 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed CB Jalen Ramsey to a four-year rookie contract. Ramsey's four-year rookie contract includes $23.3 million in guaranteed money, along with a $15.1 million signing bonus, according to a source. The deal (like all first-round picks) also includes a fifth-year option.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey suffered a knee injury (torn meniscus) at the team's recent minicamp. Most of the reports indicate that Ramsey will be back for training camp. When healthy, Ramsey is a rangy player who diagnoses plays quickly as they unfold in front of him.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey expected to start at corner Fri May 20, 12:05 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) is expected to start at cornerback this year across from CB Davon House.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey will be an instant starter when he is ready, but his meniscus injury could endanger his status for camp or even the open of the season if they repair it instead of just trimming it. The Jaguars offensive production is in part based on the quality of the defense, and if Ramsey's impact this year is dampened, then it will probably keep the passing offense among the most productive in the league.|
Jaguars | Quick recovery possible for Jalen Ramsey Thu May 19, 09:35 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) is more likely to need a menisectomy to repair his torn meniscus, based on the typical method for repairing this type of injury, meaning his recovery time would be on the shorter end of the spectrum.
|Footballguys view: Here's hoping this is correct so the Jaguars can get the best players on the field as soon as possible.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey's timetable uncertain Thu May 19, 07:31 PM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey's (knee) timetable for recovery could be four to six weeks or four to six months, depending on the second opinion he receives, according to a source. Ramsey has two possible treatment options for his meniscus tear.
|Footballguys view: As we mentioned earlier today, this lines up with what Footballguys own Dr. Jene Bramel predicted. We will be waiting to see how this works out and when we will see Ramsey on the field.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey injured Thu May 19, 03:11 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey, the Jags' first-round pick, suffered a knee injury, according to a source. It's believed to be a small meniscus tear, but a second opinion is coming next week. If everything is fine, Ramsey could be back by the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: Why can't the Jacksonville Jaguars have nice things? As our own Jene Bramel said on Twitter regarding the second opinion the team is seeking: "Second opinion on Jalen Ramsey likely information gathering on whether to remove injured meniscus (3-4 wks) or repair (3-4 mos)." One is brutal, the other survivable. We hope it's the former, as we want to see him, Myles Jack and recently returned 2015 first round pick Dante Fowler on the field together.|
Jaguars | Still no timetable for Kelvin Beachum Wed May 18, 09:23 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Kelvin Beachum (knee) said he believes he is making progress in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but still does not have a timetable for his return. Beachum said he has been able to participate in some position drills but has not been cleared for team drills.Link to story
Jaguars | Two roster moves made Tue May 17, 03:02 PM
Free-agent OT Jeff Linkenbach (Chargers) was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday, May 17. PK Jaden Oberkrom was released.Link to story
Jaguars | Blake Bortles in better situation Sun May 15, 02:36 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will be able to jump into offseason work right away on his own because he knows the offense now, as opposed to last year when he waiting for instruction, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners were super happy with Bortles last year as he finished the season as the 4th-best fantasy QB. Bortles was picked up late in most drafts and even as a waiver-wire addition in some leagues in 2015, but you won't be getting the same value this year. He had 35 touchdowns last year, and that's around where we have him projected again this season. Bortles needs to be more consistent, but he's a high-upside QB1 as a weekly starter.|

Jaguars | Myles Jack signs deal Fri May 13, 04:02 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft pick LB Myles Jack signed his four-year contract Friday, May 13. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars made a great move when they traded up to get Jack near the top of the second round in the 2016 NFL draft. He's a throwback football player with the attitude and intimidating presence that scouts drool over. Jack fell in the draft due to a knee injury that may one day require microfracture surgery. Dr. James Andrews revealed that Jack does not currently need the surgery, and there's a chance he could play for several years without needing the procedure.|
Jaguars | Sign Bjoern Werner Wed May 11, 04:25 PM
Free-agent DE Bjoern Werner (Colts) signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, May 11. CB Chance Casey was subsequently released.
|Footballguys view: A 2013 first-round pick for the Colts, Werner has been a total bust. He was inactive for a handful of games last year and Werner has been largely ineffective as a pro. His snap-to-sack time was best in his draft class, but that has not translated in the NFL. With the Jaguars, Werner will compete for a special teams role and perhaps could make a play or two as a part-time pass-rusher.|

Jaguars | Jonathan Woodard signs rookie deal Sat May 7, 06:23 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Jonathan Woodard signed his rookie contract Saturday, May 7.
|Footballguys view: Woodard has length (6'6") that allows him to get to the QB around the edge. He'll need to learn better technique if he wants to develop as a pass-rusher. The seventh-round pick may need a year of seasoning on the practice squad.|
Jaguars | Kelvin Beachum takes next step in rehab Thu May 5, 10:09 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Kelvin Beachum (knee) said his knee has progressed to the point where he can begin cutting, and he said he expects to be ready to play left tackle in every game this season.Link to story
Jaguars | Brandon Allen signs with Jaguars Thu May 5, 06:13 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Brandon Allen signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, May 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Allen is an interesting rookie QB to keep an eye on. He's short (6'1") but Allen ran a pro-style system at Arkansas, and he's adept at dropping back and making reads of the entire field. He could one day be the primary backup behind Blake Bortles.|
Jaguars | Myles Jack should be ready for season Wed May 4, 05:38 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack (knee) is expected to be ready for the regular season, according to general manager Dave Caldwell. Caldwell said he doesn't see anything that would prohibit Jack from being on the field when the time comes. Jack will not participate in organized team activities, however, due to college graduation rules.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars scored a hit here with Jack. He doesn't need microfracture surgery on his knee at this time, and all reports indicate he'll be good to go for the start of the season. He's a throwback football player in the truest sense. Jack can play all over the field as he can cover, hit and always seems to find his way to the play quickly.|
Jaguars | Myles Jack to be a full participant Mon May 2, 07:43 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack (knee) will not be limited during the team's rookie minicamp later this week. Jack suffered a season-ending knee injury in September.
|Footballguys view: Per Dr. James Andrews, Jack does not (yet) need microfracture surgery on his knee. The injury certainly gave teams pause when considering Jack in the draft. A first-round talent, Jack fell to the second round and the Jaguars wisely moved up to secure his services.|
Jaguars | Jacksonville adds several UDFAs Mon May 2, 01:40 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed undrafted free-agents CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun (Minnesota), TE Braedon Bowman (South Alabama), OT Rashod Hill (Southern Mississippi), CB Mike Hilton (Mississippi), PK Jaden Oberkrom (Texas Christian), WR Jamal Robinson (Louisiana-Lafayette), OT Pearce Slater (San Diego State) and S Jarrod Wilson (Michigan) Sunday, May 1.Link to story
Jaguars | Agree to deal with Max Wittek Sun May 1, 02:14 PM
Free-agent QB Max Wittek (Hawaii) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, May 1.
|Footballguys view: Wittek lost out to Browns third-round pick Cody Kessler after backing up Matt Barkley at USC before he ended up at Hawaii. The Jaguars don't have a developmental QB on the roster, so he has a shot to stick.|
Jaguars | Myles Jack goes 36th overall Fri Apr 29, 07:32 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected UCLA LB Myles Jack with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29. The Jaguars traded up with the Baltimore Ravens for the selection.
|Footballguys view: Excellent value here and being in the second round mitigates the risk. We think Jack will be all over this defense, dropping into coverage, attacking the run and generally being a nuisance. This is an impact defensive player Jacksonville has been looking for.|
Jaguars | Jacksonville moves up in second round Fri Apr 29, 07:31 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired the 36th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for the 38th overall pick and the 146th overall pick. The Jaguars picked LB Myles Jack with the selection.
|Footballguys view: We love it and we love the pick of Jack, who will play with a chip on his shoulder. The medicals are a concern, but Dr James Andrews said that Jack doesn't need surgery now. It could happen at some point, but in the end if Jacksonville can get three or four years out of him it is well worth it.|
Jaguars | Myles Jack could go to Jags Fri Apr 29, 02:53 PM
UCLA LB Myles Jack (knee) could be taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 38 overall in the second round Friday, April 29.
|Footballguys view: We're sure Jack won't drop further and he could be a steal in the second. At this point the risk of his knee imploding is outweighed by the ability he brings to the football field.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey goes to Jags at No. 5 Thu Apr 28, 08:46 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Florida State CB Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft Thursday, April 28.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey is a press cover corner with disruptive length who can throw off receivers at the line and on their routes. He can shut down vertical routes as well and this should help the Jaguars defend some good AFC passers.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey to compete for starting job Thu Apr 28, 08:16 PM

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon pleads guilty Thu Apr 28, 03:21 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge from December in Oklahoma Thursday, April 28. He's scheduled to be sentenced June 8. It was Blackmon's third alcohol-related arrest and fourth arrest overall. He hasn't practiced or played since Week 8 of the 2013 season, and he's been suspended indefinitely since. The Jaguars believe Blackmon is unlikely to play in the NFL again.
|Footballguys view: Such an absolutely shame. Blackmon is very talented but cannot get out of his own way. We hope he can find a way to get his life back on track, whether or not he ever sees a football field again.|

Jaguars | Blake Bortles excited about Marqise Lee Sat Apr 23, 12:31 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said it has been hard to build chemistry with WR Marqise Lee because of all Lee's injuries, but he said the receiver brings something special to the table.
|Footballguys view: We've been "meh" on Lee ever since his final year at USC. He's never been able to recapture the magic he briefly flashed early in his college career. We think Rashad Greene should beat him out for the Jaguars WR3 spot.|

Jaguars | Bigger role for Julius Thomas? Sat Apr 23, 12:19 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas is the best pass-catching tight end in the NFL, according to WR Allen Robinson, and QB Blake Bortles expects to have better chemistry with Thomas in their second year together.
|Footballguys view: Thomas just needs to stay healthy. There's no question that he's got a nose for the end zone and can be a dangerous factor as a receiver. However, Thomas has never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. It would greatly benefit the Jaguars if he can finally stay healthy all year this year.|

Jaguars | JAX willing to make Josh Norman offer Fri Apr 22, 12:35 PM
Free-agent CB Josh Norman (Panthers) has been contacted by Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars defense is a work-in-progress, but they'd certainly get a boost from Norman. Caldwell said their potential offer has a significant gap from what Norman is seeking.|

Jaguars | Jacksonville interested in Josh Norman Thu Apr 21, 02:56 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have interested in free-agent CB Josh Norman (Panthers), a source said Wednesday, April 20. The team has more than $50 million in salary cap space, and they were interested in Norman prior to his franchise tagging by the Carolina Panthers.
|Footballguys view: They have the money and they have the need, but is it a critical one? We think Jacksonville could compete in a relatively weak AFC South, so adding a playmaker at corner would help, but do they have too many holes to justify it?|

Jaguars | Dante Fowler working in offseason program Wed Apr 20, 11:44 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) is taking part in the team's offseason program. He is making his way back after offseason knee surgery.

Jaguars | Jacksonville has two No. 3 WR options Mon Apr 18, 06:04 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WRs Rashad Greene and Marqise Lee are expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver job during offseason workouts and training camp.
|Footballguys view: We prefer Greene in this battle. Greene has speed to get on top of the defense in a hurry, and he's proven to make difficult catches seem routine. Lee has a good skill set, but he's largely disappointed and hasn't looked the same since his early days in college at USC.|

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns said he and WR Allen Robinson are the best receiver tandem in the NFL and are only going to improve.
|Footballguys view: They may not be the best starting duo at WR...but they're close to the top. Hurns was an amazing find for the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2014. Teaming him up with Robinson has worked out well, and the duo should continue to produce at a high level in 2016.|
