Jaguars | DJ Chark contract update    Fri May 25, 07:21 PM

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR DJ Chark's four-year deal is worth around $4.5 million.

Footballguys view: With both Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns leaving, the Jaguars have room for some new faces. It's crowded though and Chark will have to show more than blinding speed to crack the regular rotation. He's got upside, but his value is greater for dynasty leagues than it is redraft, where we wouldn't take him as anything than a late round flier.

Jaguars | DJ Chark signs rookie deal    Fri May 25, 04:54 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft choice WR DJ Chark signed a four-year deal with the Jaguars Friday, May 25. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Chark's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. He can fly down the field and collect deep passes but his ball-tracking skill needs better consistency. The Jagaurs have a top trio at wide receiver with Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook and Marqise Lee. The rookie from LSU is going to compete for a spot on the depth chart behind those three.

Jaguars | Keelan Cole staying relevant    Fri May 25, 03:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Keelan Cole made 'several impressive catches' Friday, May 25, according to Mike Kaye of First Coast News. Kaye believes this is evidence QB Blake Bortles has built on the chemistry he showed with Cole last season.

Footballguys view: Cole is a big-play receiver who can go long and gather in the rock. Last year, the undrafted rookie from Kentucky Wesleyan snared 42 passes for 748 yards and three touchdowns. As part of the top trio of pass-catchers in Jacksonville, we could see Cole duplicate those numbers in 2018.

Jaguars | Terrance West visiting Jaguars    Wed May 16, 11:55 AM

Free-agent RB Terrance West (Ravens) is visiting with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, May 16.

Footballguys view: West has three teams (Jaguars, Colts, Eagles) interested in his services at this time. Coming off a season where he averaged a career-low 3.5 yards per carry, West isn't going to be handed any easy path to playing time. Certainly the Jaguars would only use him for veteran depth behind starter Leonard Fournette. If added, West would compete with guys like Corey Grant and T.J. Yeldon for pecking order on the depth chart.

Jaguars | Zach Conque signs with JAX    Mon May 14, 11:41 AM

Free-agent TE Zach Conque (Texans) signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, May 14. OL Avery Gennesy was waived.

Jaguars | Allen Lazard to play receiver    Fri May 11, 10:42 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Lazard said he chose to sign with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent because the Jaguars were one of the teams who viewed him as a receiver and a not a tight end.

Footballguys view: Measuring in at 6'4" 225 pounds, Lazard is a big-bodied receiver who does a good job of keeping smaller defenders at bay. Every game he played in college, Lazard had at least one reception and recorded an Iowa State record of 48-straight games of doing just that. Lazard is not an elite athlete but has the strength and concentration to be at least a red zone weapon in the pros.

Jaguars | Logan Cooke signs contract    Thu May 10, 05:57 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars seventh-round draft choice P Logan Cooke signed a four-year deal with the Jaguars Thursday, May 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Punters are people too, according to Rich Eisen, and we know what completists you are, so here is news for a punter. Cooke could make the team and if he does well, help out the Jaguars defense with field position.

Jaguars | Two to compete for right tackle job    Mon May 7, 04:30 PM

Jaguars | Dorren Miller joins Jacksonville    Mon Apr 30, 04:28 PM

Undrafted free-agent WR Dorren Miller (Carson-Newman) signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, April 30. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Miller was a big-play threat for Carson-Newman last year, averaging 23.5 yards per catch. At 6'2" 195 pounds, Miller has a little savvy to his game and can change the speed on his routes to get open. In super deep dynasty leagues, we're always intrigued by these 'out of nowhere' players.

Jaguars | Jaelen Strong released    Mon Apr 30, 03:33 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jaelen Strong was released Monday, April 30, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick of the Texans in 2015, injuries and inconsistencies have derailed Strong's pro career. He's just never played up to his physical potential and is running out of chances to prove himself at the pro level. Strong is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last December with the Jaguars and his status for the start of the regular season is in question.

Jaguars | Will Richardson to work at RT    Sun Apr 29, 06:32 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars OT Will Richardson will initially be used at right tackle but could also see time at left tackle and guard.

Footballguys view: Richardson being cross-trained at multiple positions makes sense with no obvious hole to groom him to fill and extra value being added when a backup lineman can perform at multiple positions.

Jaguars | Jacksonville adds Aaron Duckworth    Sat Apr 28, 11:20 PM

Undrafted free-agent RB Aaron Duckworth (Idaho) reportedly agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, April 28.

Jaguars | Jacksonville adds Allen Lazard    Sat Apr 28, 09:56 PM

Undrafted free-agent WR Allen Lazard (Iowa State) reportedly agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, April 28, according to a league source.

Footballguys view: Lazard was a casualty of the bloodbath at wide receiver, as his size, ball skills, and surprising combine still weren't enough to get him drafted. Roster spots at wide receiver for the Jags will be tough to come by, but he's an excellent practice squad talent.

Jaguars | Tanner Lee joins fold in J'ville    Sat Apr 28, 04:49 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars picked Nebraska QB Tanner Lee with the 203rd overall pick (Round 6) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Lots of incompletions and interceptions marred his time at Tulane, and it was exactly the same when he got to Nebraska this year. He just doesn't seem to be able to diagnose something defensively and adjust on the fly. He's got NFL size and under center experience, but his issues processing defenses and anticipating what they do may not be fixable.

Jaguars | DJ Chark selected by Jacksonville    Fri Apr 27, 09:07 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Louisiana State WR DJ Chark with the 61st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Friday, April 27.

Footballguys view: Chark is a tall, fast receiver who can be sudden off the line of scrimmage, enough to get defenders to give him a cushion. He ran a limited route tree at LSU and when he doesn't get that cushion, can struggle against press coverage.

Jaguars | Taven Bryan joins Jaguars    Thu Apr 26, 11:19 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Florida DT Taven Bryan with the 29th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday, April 26.

Footballguys view: Bryan has tremendous athleticism but lacks instincts and feel for the position. It could take some time for him to improve enough to crack the lineup regularly, especially with this group. He has upside, but this was a pick that seems like it could have been used at something more pressing.

Jaguars | Dez Bryant unlikely to be option for Jags    Mon Apr 16, 02:02 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not expected to be pursued by the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars have re-shaped their WR corps this offseason. Both Allen Robinson (Bears) and Allen Hurns (Cowboys) are elsewhere and the team is moving forward with guys like Keelan Cole, Marqise Lee and Dede Westbrook.

Jaguars | Dallas Goedert meets with Jags    Thu Apr 12, 03:06 PM

South Dakota State TE Dallas Goedert had a pre-draft visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars have never had a tight end talent as potentially dynamic as Goedert can be, and as they watched several receivers leave this offseason, can use the weapon.

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler was acquired by the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, March 28, in exchange for a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick, according to a source.

Footballguys view: With Chad Henne (Chiefs) moving on in free agency, the Jaguars needed a backup to Blake Bortles. Kessler is efficient as a dink-and-dunk passer and has experience as a starter.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles no longer in pain    Tue Mar 27, 01:14 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles is training without pain and has 'no limitations' after undergoing wrist surgery this offseason.

Jaguars | Lots more cap space for Jaguars    Tue Mar 20, 02:46 PM

The release of free-agents WR Allen Hurns (Jaguars) and TE Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars) gave the Jacksonville Jaguars $10.5 million more in salary cap space.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars had their plans change in free agency. It was a surprise they picked up the option for Lewis in February then are letting him go in March. That happened because they acquired Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul. These moves save money, but the biggest wave of free agency is done. They currently have $12.5 million in cap space according to OverTheCap.com.

Jaguars | Jacksonville parts ways with Marcedes Lewis    Tue Mar 20, 01:21 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis was released Tuesday, March 20.

Footballguys view: A bit of a surprise move given the fact the team picked up his option in February. Once they acquired Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul, the team decided to go in a different direction. The move saves them $3.5 million in cap space. Lewis has spent his entire career with the Jaguars but should find a few teams interested in his services as a blocker and underrated receiver.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns released    Tue Mar 20, 10:32 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns will be released Tuesday, March 20, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Once the Jaguars signed Donte Moncrief in free agency, the clock was ticking on Hurns. The move saves $7 million against the cap for the Jaguars. Hurns is a solid no2 WR who should have plenty of suitors on the open market. The Jaguars will roll forward with Moncrief, Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole as their top wide receivers.

Jaguars | Donte Moncrief terms    Mon Mar 19, 11:42 AM

Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Donte Moncrief signed a one-year, $9.6 million deal with $2 million in potential incentives. The contract is fully guaranteed.

Footballguys view: It's an interesting contract for a player who has not played a full 16-game season since 2015. Moncrief has a nice size/speed combination but has never played up to his full potential as a pro. The Jaguars are a run-first team, but Moncrief could be in for a larger-than-expected role in 2018.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars are doing a good job of putting quality talent around QB Blake Bortles. Seferian-Jenkins set a career high in 2017 with 50 catches for the Jets. It will be interesting to see how the Jaguars utilize his size in the red zone.
