Jaguars | Cecil Shorts not fully recovered Wed Apr 23, 11:49 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (groin) is still not quite a full strength, but he said Wednesday, April 23, that he expects to be soon. 'I'm on the right path where I'm able to run without any pain,' Shorts said. 'I still have some work to do and I'm not 100 percent yet, but I'm looking to get there soon. Now, I have to get my strength back and confidence back. Head coach Gus Bradley said Shorts' rehab has gone well, and the receiver is leaner and in great shape.
|Footballguys view: We'll see if Shorts gets a lighter workload until the team hits training camp. As it stands right now, Shorts is the best receiving option on the roster. He's a WR3 with upside for your fantasy team if healthy.|

Jaguars | Toby Gerhart on top of depth chart Wed Apr 23, 01:24 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said RB Toby Gerhart is on top of the running back depth chart at this time.
|Footballguys view: This comes as no surprise. Jordan Todman will be the #2 back, but Gerhart is the lead back, and he has flashed the ability to be a solid #2 fantasy back with his newfound opportunity.|

Jaguars | Schedule second visit with Teddy Bridgewater Fri Apr 18, 01:20 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have scheduled a second visit and workout with Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater.
|Footballguys view: His draft stock has been declining ever since his pro day, but Bridgewater is still our number one quarterback this year. It's simple really; he's incredibly accurate and he has high football intelligence. The Jaguars are considering quarterbacks in the first and second round. Bridgewater should be high on their list.|

Jaguars | Dekoda Watson to shift around Thu Apr 17, 04:58 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Dekoda Watson will play strongside linebacker on first and second downs this year, and he'll shift to the leo position on third downs, according to head coach Gus Bradley.
|Footballguys view: Bradley knows how to get a lot out of his defenders and moving Watson around is a good way to do it. Versatility is a must for defenses in the NFL and you can expect the Jaguars to pay extra attention to players who can do more than one thing well.|

Jaguars | General manager and coach watch Aaron Murray Wed Apr 16, 02:48 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley watched Georgia QB Aaron Murray participate in his pro day Wednesday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: If the Jaguars add a quarterback early in the draft, then they could still add a guy like Murray on the third day. Murray suffered an ACL injury that will likely keep him from contributing in 2014. However, when healthy this kid has the toughness and accuracy to be a borderline starter. Think of him in the same way you do Kirk Cousins (Washington).|
Jaguars | Gus Bradley gushes over Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack Tue Apr 15, 05:26 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has been very impressed with South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney and Buffalo LB Khalil Mack. 'Physically, his appearance, you don't see many guys that are built like him, with the size and the speed and the agility that he has,' Bradley said of Clowney. Bradley also isn't worried about the work ethic of Clowney.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars may wait on a quarterback in the first round to select either Clowney or Mack. Both are elite pass-rushers who can make an immediate impact in the NFL. Mack is better in coverage, and Clowney is the more rare athletic prospect.|
Jaguars | Ken Bishop to visit Mon Apr 14, 02:25 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to meet with Northern Illinois DT Ken Bishop Thursday, April 17.Link to story
Jaguars | High on Jimmy Garoppolo Mon Apr 14, 10:53 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are high on Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
|Footballguys view: They need to re-think this position. Garoppolo is more of a project than some think. His offense at Eastern Illinois was incredibly basic as he basically lined up in the shotgun, caught the snap and made a quick throw to a predetermined target. Garoppolo struggles under pressure and he's not the Tony Romo clone that some are painting him out to be.|
Jaguars | Interested in more draft picks Mon Apr 14, 01:40 AM
The Jaguars have 11 total picks in the 2014 NFL draft, including the third overall selection, but general manager Dave Caldwell has indicated he wants to add more via trades.
|Footballguys view: If the Rams don't move down from number two overall, then that third pick could draw some interest. We'll see how the Jaguars structure their draft plan if they go ahead and move down. They're likely to target a quarterback in the first or second round of the draft.|
Jaguars | Interest in Jake Matthews Mon Apr 14, 01:37 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly have interest in Texas A&M LT Jake Matthews, which has met with resistance from Jaguar fans who want the team to take Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel with the pick.
|Footballguys view: Matthews would be a fine addition for the team. They would then have Aggies bookends as they selected OT Luke Joeckel last year in the first round.|
Jaguars | Alex Mack signs offer sheet Fri Apr 11, 12:48 PM
Free-agent C Alex Mack (Browns) has signed his five-year, $42 million offer sheet from the Jacksonville Jaguars that includes $26 million in guarantees.
|Footballguys view: He can void the final three years of the team with the promise that he won't be tagged again, and the contract also includes a no-trade clause. The Cleveland Browns now have five days to match the offer sheet.|
Jaguars | Austin Pasztor re-signed Thu Apr 10, 09:40 PM

Jaguars | Contract details for Alex Mack offer sheet Thu Apr 10, 07:23 PM
Updating previous report, the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms with Cleveland Browns transition free-agent C Alex Mack on a five-year offer sheet worth $42 million. Mack would make $18 million over the first two years of the contract and can opt out of the contract after the 2015 season. Mack will also not be allowed to receive the franchise tag at the end of the contract. He is expected to sign the offer sheet Friday, April 11.Link to story
Jaguars | Alex Mack agrees to offer sheet terms Wed Apr 9, 09:10 PM
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns transition free-agent C Alex Mack has agreed to terms of an offer sheet with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, April 9. The actual offer sheet is not yet drawn up, but will be shortly and then submitted. The Browns have the opportunity to match the offer to retain Mack.Link to story
Jaguars | Will sign Alex Mack to offer sheet Wed Apr 9, 04:19 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will sign Cleveland Browns transition free-agent C Alex Mack to a five-year offer sheet by Friday, April 10, and will try to make it hard for the Browns to match.
|Footballguys view: The Browns will have five days to decide whether to match the offer. Mack would prefer to play for the Jaguars over the Browns.|
Jaguars | Jadeveon Clowney to visit Wed Apr 9, 04:07 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to visit with South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney Thursday, April 10.Link to story
Jaguars | Jeremy Hill to visit Wed Apr 9, 03:46 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to meet with Louisiana State RB Jeremy Hill Thursday, April 10.
|Footballguys view: Hill would be a good fit for the Jaguars in the second round. They added Toby Gerhart in free agency to compete for the starting job, and Hill could be included in that mix. Hill is a power runner with enough speed to get to the edge at the second level. Very few backs in this class have "star" upside, but Hill is one of those players.|
Jaguars | Talks continue with Alex Mack Wed Apr 9, 03:34 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars continue talks with Cleveland Browns C Alex Mack. There has not been an offer sheet yet.Link to story
Jaguars | Mike Evans visiting Wed Apr 9, 12:13 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will meet with Texas A&M WR Mike Evans Wednesday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Evans would be a fantastic addition for the Jaguars. He's a fantastic target with Jimmy Graham-like ability. Evans can dominate at the point of the catch, plus he's got the speed to pull away from defenders with the ball in his hands.|
Jaguars | Will meet with A.J. McCarron Wed Apr 9, 12:09 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to meet with Alabama QB A.J. McCarron Thursday, April 10.
|Footballguys view: McCarron could be an option for the Jaguars if they wait on quarterback in the first round. He's a weak-armed quarterback who won a lot of games at Alabama largely because of the cast around him. Opinions vary wildly on McCarron, but he has a fair share of improvements he needs to make.|
Jaguars | Two more visit Wed Apr 9, 09:38 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are visiting with Notre Dame DT Stephon Tuitt and BYU OLB Kyle Van Noy Wednesday, April 9.Link to story
Jaguars | Sammy Watkins to visit Wed Apr 9, 08:24 AM
Clemson WR Sammy Watkins will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, April 10.
|Footballguys view: Watkins could certainly be an option for the Jaguars at the top of the draft. He's simply the best wide receiver in this incredibly talented draft class. Watkins has speed, route-running ability and strong hands. He also has the body control to work sideline routes and Watkins will make difficult catches seem routine.|
Jaguars | Derek Carr to visit Tue Apr 8, 01:43 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Fresno State QB Derek Carr Wednesday, April 8.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars are likely to draft a quarterback early in the draft this year. Blaine Gabbert was a bust, and that's why they shipped him off to the 49ers. They have Chad Henne as veteran insurance, but he will be challenged for the starting job by a rookie. Carr could be an option for the Jaguars if they select him in the early second round or move back up into the late first round.|
Jaguars | Anthony Barr to visit Tue Apr 8, 01:42 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with UCLA LB Anthony Barr Wednesday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Barr went to UCLA to play running back, but he switched to outside linebacker before his junior season. He's got the length and strength to be a disruptive playmaker from the edge. Barr can dip around offensive tackles, and he has the closing burst to get to the quarterback in a hurry. He's likely a top 10 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.|
Jaguars | Khalil Mack to visit Tue Apr 8, 12:24 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Buffalo LB Khalil Mack later this week.
|Footballguys view: Mack is arguably the best pass-rusher in this draft class. There are some in the scouting community who would take a chance on him over DE Jadaveon Clowney (South Carolina) at the top of the draft. Mack is explosive off the edge and has the closing burst to make up ground in a hurry. He's likely to be a top-5 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.|
Jaguars | Jimmy Garoppolo to visit Tue Apr 8, 12:23 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo Wednesday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Garoppolo may be a late first- or early second-round pick despite the issues surrounding his game. At Eastern Illinois his offense was incredibly simple and basically required him to catch the snap and throw to the edge within seven yards of the line of scrimmage. Too many people want to compare him to Tony Romo (another Easter Illinois quarterback), but that's simply not an accurate comparison.|
Jaguars | Teddy Bridgewater to visit Tue Apr 8, 12:22 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater Wednesday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Bridgewater would be a fine pick for the Jaguars near the top of the draft. He's incredibly accurate and can make pre-snap adjustments/audibles. Bridgewater is smart, and known as a tough competitor.|
Jaguars | Johnny Manziel to visit Tue Apr 8, 12:21 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel Wednesday, April 9.
|Footballguys view: Manziel is going to be a top-10 pick (at worst) in the 2014 NFL draft. He has a unique skill set because of his rushing ability. Any team that selects Manziel will have to craft an offense around that. Manziel will have to be more disciplined at the pro level if he wants to play up to his pro potential.|
Jaguars | Blake Bortles to visit Tue Apr 8, 12:02 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will visit with Central Florida QB Blake Bortles Thursday, April 10.
|Footballguys view: Bortles could stay in Florida to compete for the starting job with the Jaguars. He played at Central Florida and was known as a tough leader who could make plays when the chips were down. Bortles has the arm to stretch the field vertically, and he can pull the ball down to scramble if necessary.|
Jaguars | Johnny Manziel to meet with team Mon Apr 7, 08:01 PM
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel's visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars will begin Tuesday, April 8.
|Footballguys view: Adding Manziel would make a lot of sense for the Jaguars. They've been looking for a franchise quarterback since Blaine Gabbert was a bust. Manziel has a unique skill set, using athleticism and guile to make plays. Any team that adds the rookie will have to be willing to craft an offense built around Manziel's ability to keep plays alive with his feet.|
Jaguars | Zach Mettenberger to visit Mon Apr 7, 02:38 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to meet with Louisiana State QB Zach Mettenberger Thursday, April 10.
|Footballguys view: If the Jaguars pass on a quarterback in the first round, then selected Mettenberger in the second round would make a lot of sense. He's a classic pocket passer with a rocket arm and limited athleticism. Actually, Mettenberger has a lot of Chad Henne to his game--both positive and negative.|
Jaguars | Interested in Alex Mack Sat Apr 5, 06:43 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are interested in Cleveland Browns transition-free agent C Alex Mack. A league source estimated it would take an offer sheet with at least $22 million guaranteed over the first three years to get him.Link to story
Jaguars | Bashaud Breeland works out Thu Apr 3, 01:05 PM

Jaguars | No meeting with Jadeveon Clowney Wed Apr 2, 04:33 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars did not meet privately with South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney after his pro day. Jaguars management returned to Jacksonville.
|Footballguys view: That doesn't mean much. The team could have a private workout scheduled with Clowney at some point before the draft.|
Jaguars | GM, coach attend Jadeveon Clowney's Pro Day Wed Apr 2, 12:19 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley attended the South Carolina Pro Day Wednesday, April 2, to watch DE Jadeveon Clowney work out. Defensive line coach Todd Wash also attended the workout.
|Footballguys view: With the 3rd overall pick, Jacksonville could be where Clowney winds up. He has the potential to be one of the best pass-rushers in the game from day one.|
Jaguars | QBs coach attends two Pro Days Sun Mar 30, 08:49 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo attended the Pro Days of Virginia Tech QB Logan Thomas and Cornell QB Jeff Matthews this month.
|Footballguys view: Thomas may be a mid-round pick, but he's strictly a developmental prospect. He has a big arm and athleticism, but accuracy is a problem. Matthews is a smart quarterback who is a traditional pocket passer with a big arm. He's likely to be a late-round pick in May.|
Jaguars | Owner would like Maurice Jones-Drew to return Thu Mar 27, 09:46 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he hopes the team will be able to re-sign free-agent RB Maurice Jones-Drew.
|Footballguys view: Jones-Drew could return to Jacksonville just like Knowshon Moreno could've returned to Denver. If they wanted him back, he would have been signed already. Like Moreno, we doubt that Jones-Drew stays with his old team.|
Maurice Jones-Drew player page
Jaguars | Meeting with Johnny Manziel Thu Mar 27, 01:26 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars will meet privately with Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel Thursday, March 27.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars are always linked with players who people think will fill seats, though in this case there is legitimate interest. Manziel would have his work cut out for him with few offensive weapons, but the defense and offensive line are solid and Chad Henne could start this year and give Manziel time to acclimate.|

Jaguars | Looking to feature Toby Gerhart Mon Mar 24, 10:51 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to use RB Toby Gerhart as their featured running back.
|Footballguys view: Gerhart is a bruising back who can grind down an opponent. He wanted to leave Minnesota so he could get an opportunity to showcase his talent. Gerhart will get that opportunity with the Jaguars in 2014.|
Toby Gerhart player page
Jaguars | Jadeveon Clowney high on staff Thu Mar 20, 04:55 PM
South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney said he was impressed the coaching staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars when he met with them. 'I've met (coach Gus Bradley), and I like him a lot. He's a cool guy and a very good coach,' Clowney said. 'I talked to that whole staff (at the NFL Scouting Combine) when I interviewed, and they were laid back and we were laughing a lot.'
|Footballguys view: We've heard some very solid rumors that the two highest players on the Jacksonville board are Teddy Bridgewater and Jadeveon Clowney. The Jags worked hard on the defensive line, but Clowney is a tremendous athlete they would be hard-pressed to pass on. All that being said, if they have any hesitation about his focus, it could be an issue given their struggles with Justin Blackmon's issues. Still, either Clowney or Bridgewater would be game-changing for this team.|
Jaguars | Interested in Kevin Cone Wed Mar 19, 09:02 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are interested in free-agent WR Kevin Cone (Falcons).
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars could land Cone, but the Panthers are also interested. Cone would be a special teams player (primarily) for either team.|
