Jaguars | Nick Foles has mutual JAX interest    Thu Feb 14, 10:57 AM

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Eagles) has mutual interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars need a starting quarterback to replace Blake Bortles. Foles could be that guy as they want to win with defense and a strong rushing attack. We'll see if the Eagles let Foles go without getting compensation for him. Foles is set to be a free agent but the Eagles could franchise tag him in an effort to get something for him and control his destination. The deadline to franchise tag a player is March 5th. Stay tuned.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Carlos Hyde could be released this offseason because the team would save $4.75 million in salary cap space if Hyde is let go.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Hyde signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Browns last offseason but only lasted a few months before being traded to Jacksonville at the trade deadline. He's got a cap hit of $4.7 million in 2019 with zero remaining in dead money.

Footballguys view: It sounds like the Jaguars are leaning towards not picking up his option. Seferian-Jenkins should have plenty of suitors on the open market because of his ability as a blocker and receiver.

Jaguars | More changes for Jacksonville's coaching staff    Wed Jan 16, 06:22 PM

Additionally, former Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie was hired as the running backs coach, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line coach George Warhop was hired for the same position, Jason Rebrovich was promoted to defensive line coach, former Arizona Cardinals assistant coach David Merritt was named assistant defensive line coach, former New York Giants defensive backs coach Tim Walton was named secondary/cornerbacks coach and Jaguars assistant coach Joe Danna was named secondary/safeties coach. Furthermore, assistant coach John Donovan was promoted to assistant running backs coach and assistant coach Scott Milanovich was retained as quarterbacks coach.

Footballguys view: Robiskie didn't have much to work with in Buffalo leading a group that was dragged down by Kelvin Benjamin. He has been coaching in the league since 1982 and was actually Oakland's assistant running backs coach from 1985-87, which was the last time he coached that position.

Jaguars | John DeFilippo officially with Jaguars    Wed Jan 16, 06:11 PM

Updating a previous report, former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo was officially hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, Jan. 16, as their new offensive coordinator.

Footballguys view: DeFilippo was considered a head coach candidate not that long ago. He was part of the smashing success story in Philadelphia in 2017, but didn't make it through his first season in Minnesota. The Jaguars offense has nowhere to go but up, but DeFilippo might be constrained by some of the run-first mentality that he clashed with during his time on the Vikings staff.

Jaguars | Jacksonville could pursue Nick Foles    Wed Jan 16, 03:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is expected to be of interest to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

Footballguys view: This moves makes a lot of sense for both sides. First, they need to find an upgrade over Blake Bortles which Foles could provide. Second, Jaguars new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is already familiar and connected with Foles as he served as the Eagles offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2017.

Footballguys view: McGough is an interesting prospect to monitor in dynasty leagues. McGough did draw the praise of Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in the preseason.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco is one of the quarterbacks the Jacksonville Jaguars are considering pursuing this offseason, according to sources. Flacco is believed to be open to joining the Jaguars.

Footballguys view: This move seems to make a ton of sense for both sides. Flacco is likely to get released by the Ravens as they move forward with Lamar Jackson as their starting quarterback. The Jaguars need to move on from Blake Bortles as their starter and Flacco could be their top target.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette met with executive vice president Tom Coughlin and other members of the team's front office to clear the air regarding his up-and-down 2018 season and perceived negative attitude, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Fournette and the Jaguars seem stuck with each other for one more season. He's got a $7.4 million cap number in 2019 with $8.9 million remaining in dead money. The meeting seemingly went well for both sides and they are prepared to move in a positive direction.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR DJ Chark could compete for a starting receiver job next season if he can improve route running and pass catching, in the opinion of The Florida Times-Union's John Reid.

Footballguys view: Keep an eye on this situation as we head into training camp this summer. Chark has speed to burn and he can be a downfield threat...provided the Jaguars have a quarterback that can perform.

Jaguars | Thomas Rawls signs with Jaguars    Wed Jan 9, 10:52 AM

Free-agent RB Thomas Rawls (Bengals) signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Footballguys view: Rawls has not been the same since his rookie season with the Seahawks back in 2015. He spent a few weeks with the Bengals in 2018 but didn't register a carry for them. Now, Rawls gets to try and impress with the Jaguars. We'll see if he can do enough to get a reserve spot on the 53-man roster but he is facing long odds.

Jacksonville Jaguars DL Malik Jackson expects to be released this spring, halfway through the six-year, $85.5 million contract he signed in March of 2016, accoring to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: Jackson is on the books through the 2021 season. He does have a cap hit in 2019 of $15 million with only $4 million remaining in dead money. Releasing Jackson will clear $11 million in cap space for a Jaguars team that has a ton of work to do in the offseason.

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette unlikely to be cut    Thu Jan 3, 02:05 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette is not expected to be released during the offseason, according to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero.

Footballguys view: Fournette was criticized by Tom Coughlin, the team's executive vice president of football operations, for 'disrespectful' behavior during the team's Week 17 loss, and there were also reports that the remaining guaranteed money in Fournette's contract was voided by the Jaguars due to his suspension earlier in the season.

Footballguys view: Things have turned for Fournette and the Jaguars. A top-5 pick in the 2017 NFL draft, Fournette has now drawn the ire of EVP Tom Coughlin. "I am disappointed in the behavior today from T.J. Yeldon and Leonard Fournette.
