Jaguars | One added by Jaguars, one waived    Tue Aug 23, 08:41 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Max Wittek was waived Tuesday, Aug. 23, and free-agent RB Cameron Marshall (Dolphins) was signed to an undisclosed deal.

Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Arizona State in 2013, Marshall has bounced around a bit and even played for Winnipeg in the CFL. He's got good size for the position (5'11" 215 pounds), and Marshall is tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. He won't pull away from anyone in the open field, but Marshall is tough, has good vision and doesn't go down without a fight. We're watching him in super super deep dynasty leagues.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns finds the end zone    Sun Aug 21, 12:05 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns managed two receptions for 29 yards with a touchdown on three targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: Hurns got behind the defense and Bortles threw a nice flatfooted ball from the pocket for a score. Hurns will lose some targets to a healthy Julius Thomas, but should still be a boom/bust WR3/Flex at worst.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles sharp in brief action    Sun Aug 21, 12:04 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed eight of his 11 pass attempts for 85 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: The offensive line did a good job keeping him upright. Everything is looking up for the Jaguars heading into the third week of the preseason. Bortles is in our low QB1 ranks, although an improved Jags team could result in more balance on offense.

Jaguars | Kelvin Beachum continues to sit    Sun Aug 21, 12:03 AM

Jaguars | Allen Hurns back at practice    Thu Aug 18, 10:46 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (knee) returned to practice Thursday, Aug. 18.

Footballguys view: The other half of the Allen and Allen show (Robinson being the first half), Hurns should build on a great 2015, where he had five 100+ yard games, scoring at least one touchdown in each. His ability to produce big plays is exciting to contemplate heading into 2016 make him a solid WR3/WR4 with upside.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns misses practice    Wed Aug 17, 03:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 17, because of a knee injury. Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley says that Hurns will practice on Thursday after receiving the day off.

Footballguys view: Hurns is set to play a lot from the slot (again) this year for the Jaguars. He ran almost 40 percent of his 555 routes from that spot in 2015 and finished as the 14th-best fantasy WR. This year, the Jaguars may run a bit more in the red zone with free agent addition RB Chris Ivory. That means Hurns may be more of a WR3 for fantasy owners in 2016. His current ADP is WR31 (6.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Julius Thomas not practicing    Sat Aug 13, 11:57 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (knee) is not participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 13.

Footballguys view: Thomas can be a stud fantasy TE, but he's never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. We hope he can this year, but there always seems to be some nagging injury slowing him down. Fantasy owners know that if they draft Thomas he'll be a solid starter when healthy...but he's likely to miss a couple of games.

Jaguars | Coach happy with Marqise Lee's play    Fri Aug 12, 03:10 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said he is happy with how WR Marqise Lee played during the first preseason game. 'It was really good to see,' Bradley said. 'He appeared to play really fast and made a play there, a couple plays. His speed, like we said, we've just got to continue now with him.' Lee finished the game with four receptions for 49 yards.

Footballguys view: It's been awhile since Lee has looked good on the football field. We'll see if he can recapture some of the momentum he had in college at USC and translate that to the football field. Lee is competing with Rashad Greene for the no.3 job behind Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory, T.J. Yeldon are co-starters     Mon Aug 8, 05:06 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon are listed as co-starters on the Jaguars' first depth chart.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners know this will be a split backfield, and that's why both have fantasy values close to each other. Right now, Ivory is going off the board at RB35 (8.02) while Yeldon is getting drafted as RB39 (9.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Kelvin Beachum practices again    Mon Aug 8, 03:18 PM

Jaguars | Marqise Lee returns to practice    Mon Aug 8, 03:11 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) participated fully in practice Monday, Aug. 8, and looked good doing it, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Lee said he was rusty but it felt good to be back. It's still unclear if Lee will play in the Jaguars' first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 11, against the New York Jets, but he said he'd like to play.

Footballguys view: We have a feeling that Lee will always be a player who can be summed up by the phrase 'what might have been!' His final year in college at USC wasn't great, but the year before that he was outstanding. So far as a pro, his career hasn't taken off. In fact, he's been set back by injuries and inconsistencies. While Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have flourished, Lee disappoints. We like Rashad Greene as the no.3 WR for the Jaguars this year.

Jaguars | Rashad Greene in mix for No. 3 job    Mon Aug 8, 12:50 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene is battling WR Marqise Lee for the No. 3 job in training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: Greene is winning this job simply by staying on the field. He fits in the classic slot receiver mode with excellent routes, sudden breaks, and pesky run after catch ability. Greene was one of Jameis Winston's favorite targets at Florida State, and he should help the Jags pass offense if he can stay healthy, even if it is hard to imagine him having redraft league impact.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee could play Thursday    Mon Aug 8, 12:49 AM

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) did only individual work Sunday, Aug. 7, and head coach Gus Bradley said more will be known about Lee's status. The team wants to see how Lee's hamstring responds after Sunday's work. There is a chance Lee could play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 11, against the New York Jets.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson looks 'much better'    Sun Aug 7, 07:47 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson appears to be a different receiver in training camp so far and a much better receiver at that due to improved route-running and a more aggressive mentality in pursuing the ball in the air, according to Jaguars.com senior writer John Oehser.

Footballguys view: Robinson could be even better and more efficient on his opportunity, but if the Jaguars are a better team, then they will be more balanced and pass less than they did last year. He's worth a late first/early second round pick and going as early as the mid-first in some leagues.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee practices Sunday    Sun Aug 7, 10:57 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday, Aug. 7.

Footballguys view: Lee is trying to stake a claim to a solid role in the Jaguars emerging pass offense, but he already has missed most of training camp with this hamstring injury. If he can get through this latest issue and stay healthy through camp, he should be part of occasional four-wide sets for the Jags and provide quality depth at wide receiver.

Jaguars | Coach happy with Blake Bortles    Sat Aug 6, 08:55 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has been happy with QB Blake Bortles even though he has completed only 56.9% of his passes with four interceptions during team drills. 'I've been very, very pleased with Blake; very excited about him,' Bradley said. 'He has a stronger command of the offense and he's playing with good poise. If there's a mistake made, he reacts quicker to it and recovers quicker from it.'

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners will be happy with Bortles if he just duplicates what he did last year. Bortles finished as the no.4 fantasy QB in 2015, and with continued emphasis on their passing attack we think he finishes as a top-10 player at his position at least. He has a current ADP of QB9 (8.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee not ready to return    Fri Aug 5, 06:25 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) is not participating in practice Friday, Aug. 5.

Footballguys view: The albino tiger is still out of view. Lee was building buzz for a brief moment before falling prey to the injury bug that has plagued his career to date.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler not all the way back    Thu Aug 4, 10:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler said he is feeling faster each day but still needs to his explosiveness to come all the way back.

Footballguys view: That's scary to consider when reading reports about Fowler blowing by Jaguars offensive linemen in camp. Fowler has great burst after the snap and on his way to the QB. Having him healthy will be a great boost for the Jaguars defense this year.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler impressing    Thu Aug 4, 05:59 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler has 'been embarrassing' offensive linemen so far during training camp.

Footballguys view: Fowler has amazing talent as a pass-rusher from the edge. He's quick off the ball and has a good closing burst to the QB. After missing his rookie season with a knee injury, we can't wait to see what he can do in the NFL.
