Jaguars | Leonard Fournette must adapt Sun May 21, 09:02 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was more effective running behind a fullback in college, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Fournette's biggest adjustment in the NFL will be receiving carries out of the shotgun and not regularly having a fullback.
|Footballguys view: Fournette can thrive in a single-back set as he doesn't need a fullback to follow or blast open holes for him. Running from the shotgun is a different animal as defenses often have a "tell" as to where the play is going simply from the formation. Fantasy owners should see RB1 upside in the rookie from LSU, but right now you can get him at a RB2 price. Fournette has a current ADP of RB14 (3.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Jaguars | Jacksonville worked out Alterraun Verner Sun May 21, 01:14 PM
Free-agent CB Alterraun Verner (Buccaneers) had a workout with the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars are stacked at the CB position with guys like Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye and Aaron Colvin. It's been three years plus since Verner was an All-Pro selection (2013) and things just didn't work out for him in Tampa. His resume gets him a job before training camp...maybe in Jacksonville.|

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette signs contract Wed May 17, 03:57 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette signed his four-year deal with the Jaguars Wednesday, May 17, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Fournette can be a star at the pro level, and he's likely to be the centerpiece of the Jaguars offense. Most scouts compared him to Adrian Peterson because of his size/speed combination, and that's an accurate comparison. The Jaguars back should be one of the most fantasy relevant rookies in 2017, and he should be considered a RB1 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is RB16 (4.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Jaguars | Blair Brown signs rookie contract Tue May 16, 03:17 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Blair Brown signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, May 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Brown was a tackling machine in college at Ohio. He's a physical player who can thrive near the line of scrimmage. Brown lacks the desired ability in coverage, so he'll have to make his way as a two-down (and likely special teams) player in the NFL.|
Jaguars | Dede Westbrook signed Tuesday Tue May 16, 01:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, May 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Westbrook is lightning quick with the ball in his hands. He can gain separation in his route with speed and moves, then after the catch Westbrook can eat up yards in chunks. Off field and character concerns dinged his draft stock, but if he's focused then Westbrook can contribute as a slot receiver for the Jaguars.|
Jaguars | Two Jaguars released, two added Mon May 15, 10:35 AM

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette must earn starting job Sat May 13, 05:45 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette will need to earn the starting running back job during offseason workouts and training camp even though he was the team's first-round pick, according to head coach Doug Marrone.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars aren't going to hand him the starting job, and just like every team out there we'll see rookies 'earn' their playing time. That being said....Fournette is incredibly talented and should have no problem winning the starting job over guys like Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon. He's got RB1 potential for sure, but Fournette is currently going off the board at RB21 (5.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Jaguars | No contact between Jags, Branden Albert Sat May 13, 03:15 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said he still has not had any contact with OT Branden Albert.
|Footballguys view: Under contract through 2018, the Jaguars have no intentions of getting Albert a new deal. He's missed voluntary workouts, but we'll see if he's still absent when mandatory minicamp begins later this year. Second-round pick Cam Robinson will push Albert for the starting left tackle spot in 2017.|
Jaguars | Cam Robinson working at LT Sat May 13, 02:27 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Cam Robinson has only worked at left tackle during the team's rookie minicamp this weekend.
|Footballguys view: Robinson is a big mauler who struggles with balance issues as a pass blocker. The second-round pick from Alabama will compete with Branden Albert for the starting job in 2017...that is, he'll compete with him when Albert actually shows up. During voluntary workouts, Albert has been a no show.|
Jaguars | Blake Bortles' mechanics 'improved' Sat May 13, 01:37 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone believes there is 'no doubt' the way QB Blake Bortles is throwing the ball this offseason 'has improved'.
|Footballguys view: Bortles mechanics were quite wonky last year, and it caused his play to slip. The Jaguars haven't written him off (yet), but Bortles certainly needs to start playing better if he wants to stay as the starting quarterback. He's in line for a bounce-back season in 2017.|

Jaguars | Victor Cruz visiting Jaguars Thu May 11, 10:29 AM
Free-agent WR Victor Cruz (Giants) is visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, May 11.
|Footballguys view: Cruz has little to nothing left in the tank. Don't be fooled by the name recognition if he signs somewhere. His impact will be minimal.|

Jaguars | Dawuane Smoot to be part of rotation Wed May 10, 02:59 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dawuane Smoot is expected to part of a rotation at defensive end during passing downs. Smoot likely will be used as left and right defensive end.Link to story
Jaguars | Dede Westbrook may be slot receiver Wed May 10, 02:45 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook will compete with WR Rashad Greene for the slot receiver job as well as the punt returner role.
|Footballguys view: We see that as his most likely spot within the Jaguars offense. With Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns playing outside, Westbrook can work the underneath routes over the middle of the field. Westbrook is quick and can change directions on a dime, making him a nightmare for corners trying to cover him.|

Jaguars | Jacksonville sign six UDFAs Mon May 1, 06:15 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed undrafted free-agent TE Caleb Bluiett (Texas), WR Keelan Cole (Kentucky Wesleyan), RB Tim Cook (Oregon State), WR Amba Etta-Tawo (Syracuse), RB I'Tavius Mathers (Middle Tennessee State) and WR Kenneth Walker (UCLA). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Mathers is a player we'll be watching in super deep dynasty leagues. He's electric with the ball in his hands and good as a receiver out of the backfield.|
Jaguars | Blake Bortles' option picked up Mon May 1, 11:24 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles had his fifth-year option exercised Monday, May 1.
|Footballguys view: This was a bit of a question mark for the Jaguars before the 2017 NFL draft. They didn't get involved with the QB run that took place in the top 10 of the draft, so it looks like Bortles will be the man -- at least for this year. Bortles had a great 2015, but he fell back to Earth in 2016 and struggled to grow as a passer. If he can get back on track, the Jaguars would likely be inclined to get him a long-term deal.|

Jaguars | Dede Westbrook kicked out of interview Sun Apr 30, 08:26 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook was kicked out of a 15-minute interview at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.
|Footballguys view: There were concerns about Westbrook's preparation for the Combine earlier this year, and that may be why he fell to the fourth round. Westbrook is a dynamic athlete who can really hurt an opponent as a receiver or return man. We'll see if he can stay on track with his attitude and play up to his potential.|
Jaguars | Jacksonville agrees with four UDFAs Sun Apr 30, 12:36 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with undrafted free-agent RB I'tavius Mathers (Middle Tennessee) as well as WRs Kenneth Walker (UCLA), Amba Etta-Tawo (Syracuse) and Keelan Cole (Kentucky Wesleyan).
|Footballguys view: Etta-Tawo has decent size and overall athleticism, and it's no surprise that he is on Tom Coughlin and Doug Marrone's team with their connections to Syracuse. He'll have to toil away on the practice squad to have a future with the team after they drafted Dede Westbrook in the fourth round, unless both of Rashad Greene and Bryan Walters get released.|
Jaguars | Dede Westbrook drafted by Jags Sat Apr 29, 12:26 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Oklahoma WR Dede Westbrook with the No. 110 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft Saturday, April 29.
|Footballguys view: Westbrook is an explosive athlete who can make things happen with the ball in his hands. He was a touchdown hog in 2016 with a school-record 16 receiving touchdowns for the Sooners. Westbrook has some character concerns and that's why the potential playmaker fell in the 2017 NFL draft.|
Jaguars | Cam Robinson will be used at LT Fri Apr 28, 10:37 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Cam Robinson will line up at left tackle and is expected to compete with OT Branden Albert for the starting left tackle job.Link to story
Jaguars | Jacksonville selects Cam Robinson Fri Apr 28, 07:22 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Alabama OT Cam Robinson with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft Friday, April 28.
|Footballguys view: Robinson is a huge dude with the ability to play either tackle or step inside. Sometimes he gets a bit sloppy, resulting in penalties or overextending himself, but he is a good fit on this offensive line overall.|
Jaguars | Leonard Fournette a three-down back? Thu Apr 27, 09:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette's ideal playing weight is around 230 pounds, according to executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin, and Coughlin said he doesn't have any questions about Fournette being able to play all three downs.
|Footballguys view: Apparently he caught some balls for people as well. This could be big news for fantasy owners this season. We'll keep you posted but if true, Fournette could produce a lot of fantasy points.|
Jaguars | Jacksonville selects Leonard Fournette Thu Apr 27, 08:36 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Louisiana State RB Leonard Fournette with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft Thursday, April 27.
|Footballguys view: This can only help Blake Bortles as they get an upgrade in the backfield. A big, bruising back who can hammer you all game, Fournette is going to wear defenses down in the AFC South. He won't make guys miss but he will stomp them flat. With the receivers they the Jaguars have, he is not seeing many stacked fronts we'd expect.|
Jaguars | Deshaun Watson linked to Jaguars Thu Apr 27, 09:02 AM
Clemson QB Deshaun Watson has been linked in chatter to the Jacksonville Jaguars as a possible selection at No. 4 overall in the NFL draft.
|Footballguys view: We're not sure we buy the Jacksonville quarterback rumors, but Watson's name has been coming up more and more as a potential top ten pick. Of course, you can also chalk it up to teams looking to trade down stoking the fires of interest.|
Jaguars | No decision on Blake Bortles' option Sun Apr 23, 07:13 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said the team has not decided if they will pick up QB Blake Bortles' option this offseason.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars may pass on the fifth-year option for Bortles...and they may draft a quarterback with a premium pick this year. Stay tuned.|

Jaguars | Zach Cunningham visits Jaguars Fri Apr 21, 10:44 AM
Vanderbilt LB Zach Cunningham visited the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week.
|Footballguys view: Cunningham is a coverage linebacker who can patrol from sideline to sideline. He's a drag tackler and not violent at the point of attack. However, Cunningham is smart, rarely takes false steps and always finds himself around the ball. The Jaguars could be looking at him as an early 2nd round pick.|
Jaguars | Telvin Smith not worried about deal Wed Apr 19, 03:47 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Telvin Smith said he wants to focus on playing football and is not worried about his contract situation. Smith is entering the final year of his current contract.Link to story

Jaguars | Cam Robinson working out for Jaguars Wed Apr 19, 11:23 AM
Alabama OT Cam Robinson is working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, April 19.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars have the 4th overall pick in the draft, and that's way too high for Robinson. He could fall to the second round of the draft, and that might be a better spot for the Jags to take him. Robinson is big and powerful in a phone booth, but he's not athletic enough to handle premier edge rushers in pass protection.|
Jaguars | Nathan Peterman works out for Jaguars Tue Apr 18, 09:21 AM
Pittsburgh QB Nathan Peterman worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, April 17, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars may be looking for a developmental guy to groom behind Blake Bortles. Peterman has the upside to be a good starter in the league, and many teams have recognized him as having Dak Prescott-like potential. He could be a second- or third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.|
Jaguars | Tommy Bohanon, Larry Pinkard join Jags Mon Apr 17, 07:33 PM

Jaguars | Branden Albert holding out Mon Apr 17, 10:20 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Branden Albert is absent from the first team meeting Monday, April 17, as he's holding out for a new contract, according to sources.
|Footballguys view: Albert was added via trade earlier this year from the Miami Dolphins. He likely wants some guarantees with his new team, as he has two years remaining and zero in dead money. He has cap hits of $8.9 million (2017) and $9.6 million (2018) respectively for the remainder of his deal.|
Jaguars | Allen Robinson ready for extension Sun Apr 16, 08:31 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson said he has 'earned' a contract extension but won't let talk of a new contract impact his performance. 'If we get something done, we do and if not, I have a big year coming ahead for me and I have an obligation to my teammates to play at a high level,' Robinson said.
|Footballguys view: Robinson was a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, so he's entering the last year of his contract. He had a fantastic 2015 (80 catches, 1,400 yards) but fell back with a disappointing 2016 (73 catches, 883 yards). Robinson did finish last year strong with 14 catches and over 200 receiving yards in the final two games of the year.|

Jaguars | Blake Bortles to see increased reps in camp Sun Apr 16, 12:59 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles will need to 'go back and build his foundation from the beginning,' according to head coach Doug Marrone.
|Footballguys view: Bortles suffered through a bad season in 2016 after a 35 touchdown 2015 where he looked like a star on the rise. He needs to produce consistently and get the most out of the weapons around him. Bortles could be in for a bounce-back season, but fantasy owners can only trust him as a low-end QB2 at this time.|

Jaguars | Nathan Peterman to work out for Jaguars Wed Apr 12, 10:54 AM
Pittsburgh QB Nathan Peterman will work out for the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.
|Footballguys view: There are some tabbing Peterman as this year's Dak Prescott. He's not, but Peterman is a very intriguing mid-round prospect with the upside to be a quality starter. The Jaguars have Blake Bortles as their starter, but he needs to bounce back this year so they don't have to begin making other plans at the quarterback position.|
