Jaguars | Josh Wells at full health    Tue Jun 28, 05:36 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars OT Josh Wells (thumb) is back at full health after suffering a dislocated thumb early last year. He is expected to be a full participant in training camp.

Jaguars | Julius Thomas dominant in OTAs    Sun Jun 26, 07:55 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas has looked unstoppable in OTAs, according to beat writer Hays Carlyon.

Footballguys view: Thomas had a four game touchdown scoring streak last year, but he also had two of fewer catches in half of his games. While a hand injury got him off to a slow start in 2015, Thomas won't move ahead of Allen Hurns or Allen Robinson in the pecking order. He's still a low TE1 in early drafts, but he is cheap enough to be a solid Plan A.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey expected back by training camp    Sun Jun 26, 07:53 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) is doing well and should be ready to go when training camp opens next month.

Footballguys view: The knee Ramsey allegedly had microfracture surgery on as a teenager appears to be healing well from a meniscus clean up. He should be ready to matchup against Jordy Nelson in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.

Jaguars | Bortles could still hit or top 35 touchdowns    Sat Jun 25, 09:31 PM

Hays Carlson of Jacksonville.com thinks expectations that Blake Bortles touchdown numbers will drop from his lofty level of 35 scores in 2015 are unfounded. The experience at receiver and tight end, continuity in the offense, improving running game, and better team and defense can keep Bortles at that level or even allow him to surpass it.

Footballguys view: Bortles is currently QB9 and a 7th/8th round pick in redraft leagues, which is not that steep considering his numbers last year and the compelling argument made by Carlson. The quarterback board is so stacked that most of them will give you a good chance to outproduce ADP.

Jaguars | Yannick Ngakoue signs rookie deal    Tue Jun 21, 11:05 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue signed his rookie four-year deal Tuesday, June 21. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: The team's third-round pick this year was known as a 'sack monster' during his time at Maryland. Last year, Ngakoue set a Maryland record and finished tied for second in the nation with 13.5 sacks. The Jaguars should find a way to rotate in the rookie for his pass-rushing skills.

  Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon the third-down back?    Fri Jun 17, 09:33 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon's improvement in pass protection was praised by offensive coordinator Greg Olson, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Yeldon is being slotted for the third-down back role while RB Chris Ivory will handle more of the carries on early downs.

Footballguys view: It's going to be interesting to see how Jacksonville splits the touches between these two RBs. Right now, fantasy owners believe Ivory has a bit more value than Yeldon. Ivory has an ADP of RB33 (7.08) while Yeldon is right behind him at RB34 (8.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars DT Sen'Derrick Marks (knee) was impressive during his limited practice time this offseason, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Jaguars | Rashad Greene starting in slot    Thu Jun 16, 10:18 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene has seen a majority of his reps as the first-team slot receiver, and he said he and QB Blake Bortles are becoming more comfortable working with each other.

Footballguys view: Greene is a fine receiver when healthy. He has the quickness to get open on underneath routes, and he's got a fearless nature when going over the middle. Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and TE Julius Thomas will get all of the fantasy love so Greene is mainly just a dynasty prospect.

Jaguars | Myles Jack impressing     Thu Jun 16, 06:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack (knee) has shown good explosiveness, his ability to change direction and good instincts during minicamp, according to defensive coordinator Todd Wash. Wash also said Jack knows the defense from a mental standpoint.

Footballguys view: Short term has really not been the issue for Jack, it's the long term that concerned teams--although the way he dropped in the draft could mean they were worried about both. The league's hesitation is the Jaguars' gain as they got a top five talent in the second round. Jack should be an immediate boost to the defense.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey learning off the field    Thu Jun 16, 06:25 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) has been able to watch plenty of film and practices while he nurses his knee injury. Ramsey said he's been trying to stay mentally tuned in and has put himself in positions on the field from a mental standpoint. Ramsey added that he feels great and he'll be good to go for training camp.

Footballguys view: Half of being a corner is watching film, so Ramsey wasn't just hanging out at home. He'll still have a lot of work to do, but we're excited to see him in this defense.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey deems himself ready    Thu Jun 16, 01:03 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) deemed himself 100% after his May 24 knee surgery. He has been limited in camp, but he said he feels no pain.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars have several players overcoming or dealing with medical concerns. Ramsey, Dante Fowler Jr and Myles Jack could be a great trio on defense if they can stay healthy though.

Jaguars | Marqise Lee impressing this offseason    Mon Jun 13, 06:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee has been healthy for an entire offseason for the first time since being drafted by the Jaguars and has been impressive during some of the organized team activities.

Footballguys view: It's been a long time since Lee looked good. You have to go back to his sophomore season in college at USC to see him look like a dominant player. The Jaguars are stacked at the WR position with Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.....getting Lee to do more would just make them even more dangerous through the air.

Jaguars | Denard Robinson drops some weight    Sun Jun 12, 05:17 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson said he wants to weigh around 205 to 210 pounds this season after playing at 215 to 218 pounds last season.

Footballguys view: The lighter weight should help Robinson play quicker and faster in 2016. He will compete with RB Corey Grant for the team's RB3 spot and the kick returner job during training camp.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson's status uncertain    Fri Jun 10, 06:03 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson's (hamstring) status for minicamp is uncertain because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Footballguys view: There's no need to rush it here. Robinson is a star for the Jaguars, and he should once again be counted on to put up WR1 numbers for fantasy owners in 2016. His current ADP is WR7 (1.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Myles Jack expected to practice    Fri Jun 10, 05:46 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack (knee) should be able to participate in all of the drills during minicamp next week, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Jack will be used at middle linebacker during practice. Bradley said it will be interesting to see how much Jack has learned since he was not allowed to participate in organized team activities.

Footballguys view: Now that UCLA has graduated, Jack is able to practice with his team. Coming off knee surgery, expect the Jaguars to take it easy with the star linebacker as he gets used to the pro level.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey able to run    Fri Jun 10, 04:39 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) was able to run in a straight line during practice Friday, June 10.

Footballguys view: Fantastic news for the Jaguars here. Ramsey underwent knee surgery a little over two weeks ago and is expected to ready for the start of training camp.

Jaguars | Sen'Derrick Marks takes part in drills    Fri Jun 10, 12:35 PM

Jaguars | Allen Hurns is allergic to grass    Thu Jun 9, 01:19 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns is allergic to grass, which is why he wears long sleeves and tries to cover as much of his body as possible. Hurns said he found out about his grass allergy in high school. Hurns said he doesn't experience breathing problems. His nose doesn't get stuffy or runny either. He has skin breakouts that vary in degrees. Some days they're barely there. Other days he said he has to take a medication after practice or games if it's a severe breakout.

Footballguys view: Well that's not optimal but as long as he can catch the ball it shouldn't matter. One of two 1,000 yard receivers for Jacksonville, (Allen Robinson was the other) Hurns should pick up right where he left off, and we expect a solid season from him, putting him in the WR3 range this year.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory back at practice    Tue Jun 7, 04:09 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) participated in practice Tuesday, June 7.

Footballguys view: Ivory is back in action, and he's going to give the Jaguars offense another dimension in 2016. The veteran back will split time with second-year pro T.J. Yeldon, and their fantasy values may be nearly the same. Both should be considered RB3-level with upside.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson sits out    Tue Jun 7, 03:57 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) did not participate in organized team activities Tuesday, June 7.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Hamstring injuries can linger if not given enough time to heal. We're not worried about it...even if Robinson doesn't practice again until training camp. The Jaguars will watch him closely, and if he's ready--he'll practice.

Jaguars | More on Allen Hurns' deal    Tue Jun 7, 11:10 AM

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns' four-year, $40 million deal includes $16 million fully guaranteed at signing. The remaining $4 million guarantee becomes fully guaranteed the third day of free agency in 2018.

Footballguys view: So long as Hurns keeps going on his current trajectory, he should be able to see that final $4 million in guaranteed money. The Jaguars found a star from the ranks of the undrafted, and it's a great move to lock him up for a reasonable $10 million per year price.

Jaguars | Julius Thomas busy at OTAs    Mon Jun 6, 10:52 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas' situation is much more stable this season, as he and QB Blake Bortles are building rapport during the offseason program. 'Julius looks good,' offensive coordinator Greg Olson said Monday, June 6. 'Guys that have been here have been relatively healthy and Julius has been one of those guys, so he's been able to get a lot of reps and a lot of work in so far.'

Footballguys view: There's been some interesting things about the Jaguars offense coming down the news wire in recent weeks. First, they're going to use a high pace on offense. That faster tempo should benefit the players on offense and could lead to higher production. Next, we're hearing nothing but good things about Thomas this offseason. Fantasy owners know the talent his there, but Thomas has never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. If healthy, Thomas could easily be a top-5 fantasy TE in 2016.

Jaguars | Allen Roobinson works on side    Mon Jun 6, 02:19 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) worked on a side field during organized team activities Monday, June 6.

Footballguys view: Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not allowed to heal fully. The Jaguars will monitor their star WR as he deals with this. We have a feeling that by training camp this hamstring injury will be a non-issue.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory not at workout    Mon Jun 6, 02:10 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) was not present for organized team activities Monday, June 6.

Footballguys view: Ivory is going to play a big part on their offense. He'll be splitting time with T.J. Yeldon this season, and the split may be close to 50/50. We imagine he'll be back at OTAs in the near future.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler happy with recovery    Mon Jun 6, 02:02 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) said he is happy with how his rehab has gone and believes he is playing faster each day.

Footballguys view: We can't wait to see him on the field rushing the passer. A knee injury caused Fowler to miss his entire rookie season in 2015, but all signs have been positive about his recovery. Fowler has been able to participate in every offseason workout.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon in better shape    Sun Jun 5, 02:17 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon has improved his physique after spending the offseason training with Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran. Yeldon said he's at 225 pounds, but he wants to lose five more pounds before training camp.

Footballguys view: It's good news when an Alabama RB wants to take care of physique before it becomes a problem (see Eddie Lacy, Trent Richardson). Yeldon flashed as a rookie but only played in 12 games as he was slowed by a sprained MCL. The team added free agent Chris Ivory this year to utilize in a RBBC with Yeldon. At this time, fantasy owners are taking Ivory at RB32 (7.08) and Yeldon at RB34 (8.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Improvement for Marqise Lee    Sat Jun 4, 01:33 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee has improved this offseason, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson. 'He's been very steady and he looks good,' Olson said. 'We'll continue to push him. We wanted to give Marqise a chance to play a couple of different positions at wide receiver so it's good to have him out there.'

Footballguys view: We'll believe it when we see it. Lee had one outstanding year at USC, but his final year of college was kind of a harbinger of what was to come. His numbers fell from year one to year two with the Jaguars. Lee will compete with Rashad Greene to be the team's WR3 behind Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Jaguars | Faster pace for Jacksonville offense?    Sat Jun 4, 01:16 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles and the Jacksonville offense have been practicing more of a no-huddle offense this offseason. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the coaching staff felt like Bortles felt comfortable with the two-minute offense and they wanted to use more of that.

Footballguys view: We could see slightly better fantasy numbers if the team is playing more snaps and spending more time on offense. Bortles finished the 2015 season as the no.4 fantasy QB in standard-scoring leagues. Another top-5 finish could be in the cards once again for the talented young QB.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler impressing coaches    Fri Jun 3, 08:18 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) has impressed defensive coordinator Todd Wash with his explosiveness even though he is still limited because of his surgically repaired knee. 'He's more explosive than I thought he was to be honest with you. We're very excited about it. We're trying to limit him as much as we can, giving him a couple reps per series when he goes out. We're very excited about what he's doing and how he's coming along.'

Footballguys view: The Jaguars have revamped their defense this offseason. Getting Fowler back on the field after he missed his entire rookie season will boost them even further.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey may see time at nickel back    Fri Jun 3, 06:23 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) likely will see work at nickel back during training camp. The Jaguars were going to keep Ramsey at outside cornerback this season, but he has picked up the defense quicker than expected.

Jaguars | Luke Bowanko to start on PUP list    Fri Jun 3, 03:55 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars C Luke Bowanko (hip) will start the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to general manager David Caldwell. Caldwell said he is not sure if Bowanko's hip injury will keep him out for the entire 2016 season.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey should be ready for camp    Fri Jun 3, 03:48 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) should be a full participant once training camp begins, according to general manager David Caldwell.

Footballguys view: Ramsey seems to have avoided a serious injury when he got banged up earlier in OTAs. The talented defender should be a great asset for the Jaguars defense...and unit that has been reshaped through the draft and free agency.

Jaguars | Allen Hurns agrees to extension    Thu Jun 2, 05:34 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns agreed to a four-year extension worth more than $40 million Thursday, June 2, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Hurns had a good second season and the Jaguars are wise to make a commitment to him now. His 1,031 yards and ten touchdowns are definitely needed this year and we see him as a solid WR2/WR3 type fantasy producer. He has a current ADP of WR27 (5.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Free-agent OG Patrick Omameh (Bears) signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, June 2. OL Patrick Miller was released.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory back at practice    Thu Jun 2, 01:30 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (personal) participated in organized team activities Thursday, June 2, after he missed workouts Tuesday, May 31, because of a personal issue.

Footballguys view: Ivory signed a five-year deal, so we are sure the Jaguars will use him but we also feel his total carries will drop from the last few years with the Jets. That hurts his production and right now holds him back as a low-end RB3. Ivory has a current ADP of RB32 (7.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jaguars | Nic Jacobs has fracture    Sun May 29, 02:56 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Nic Jacobs (hand) suffered a hairline fracture in his left hand May 2 while hitting a blocking sled. He will be in a cast until next week. Jacobs has felt a different during practice because of his weight loss, though, as he shed 15 pounds after playing at 290 pounds last season. He said he feels a lot quicker and more explosive with increased acceleration.

Footballguys view: Jacobs is competing for a spot on the depth chart behind Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis. There's not much fantasy value there with him, even in super-deep dynasty leagues.

Jaguars | Malik Jackson enjoying new role    Sat May 28, 12:40 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars DT Malik Jackson said he is enjoying the freedom he has in head coach Gus Bradley's defense that relies on the three-technique tackle providing constant interior pressure.

Footballguys view: After paying Jackson a $85 million contract, the Jaguars are going to let him loose against the passer. He was a strong edge rusher for the Broncos last year, but his six sacks in 2015 could be doubled this year with his new team.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles meets with Julius Thomas    Fri May 27, 04:53 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he met with TE Julius Thomas multiple times this offseason because he wants the same chemistry with Thomas that he had last year. 'We had a chance this offseason to sit down multiple times, watch film and talk about things,' Bortles said. 'Talk about what he wanted from me and what I wanted from him and how we can quickly get on the same page to grow together.'

Footballguys view: Thomas is a stud when healthy...but he's never played a full 16-game season in his pro career. The Jaguars are building something good on offense, and Thomas can be a big part of what they do in the passing game--especially in the red zone. He's a low-end TE1 with the potential to catch double-digit touchdowns.

Jaguars | Jermey Parnell fractures hand    Tue May 24, 12:44 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars OT Jermey Parnell (hand) suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand during organized team activities Monday, May 23.

Footballguys view: Another day, and another injury for the Jaguars. This injury is not considered major, and Parnell will continue to work during individual drills. He will be limited for the rest of team activities and minicamp.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey will return for camp    Tue May 24, 11:49 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB/S Jalen Ramsey (knee) underwent surgery on his meniscus Tuesday, May 24, and he's expected to return in time for training camp.

Footballguys view: That's great news for the Jaguars. Ramsey is a player who doesn't need to come off the field. The rookie can roam the field as a free safety with a ball-hawking mentality. He can play slot corner if needed, and Ramsey isn't afraid to mix it up near the line of scrimmage in run support.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler limited    Mon May 23, 08:00 PM

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) was limited during organized team activities Monday, May 23, and will be limited again Tuesday, May 24.

Footballguys view: We're excited to see Fowler fully healthy and rushing the passer. Fowler may be allowed to fully participate Thursday, May 26, if he does not have any problems with his knee after consecutive practices.

Jaguars | Dante Fowler wearing brace    Mon May 23, 05:55 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (knee) is wearing a brace on his left knee to help protect the anterior cruciate ligament he tore last offseason.

Footballguys view: Fowler will be wearing that brace until he's fully comfortable coming back after missing all of his rookie season. The young pass-rusher said it felt good coming back, but he knows he still has work to do to make a full recovery.

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey to play a lot    Mon May 23, 01:50 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) will play a lot in his rookie season, according to general manager David Caldwell. Caldwell thinks tests on Ramsey's torn meniscus this week will come back positive. However, the coaching staff is still 'holding their breath' that the second opinion Ramsey receives will confirm the injury is minor.

Footballguys view: Ramsey should play a lot as he's the type of player who doesn't need to come off the field. Early indications point to his knee injury being somewhat minor, and we hope that's the case. Ramsey can roam the field as a ball-hawking free safety and even play slot corner for the Jaguars if needed.
