Dolphins | Jay Ajayi could start    Sun Feb 7, 01:55 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi is seen as a starting-caliber running back capable of taking over for impending free-agent RB Lamar Miller.

Footballguys view: We love Ajayi's upside and natural ability. He's a powerful runner who can get stronger as the game goes on. The Dolphins offense is one to invest in with new head coach Adam Gase taking over.

  Dolphins | Tannehill most-sacked QB since 2012    Fri Feb 5, 03:04 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was sacked 45 times in 2015 and has absorbed 184 over his four-year career, the most in the NFL over that time.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins offensive line has actually been trending in the right direction in limiting sacks even though it is still a problem. New head coach Adam Gase is tasked with finding a combination and scheme that works to unlock Tannehill's abilities. A full year from first-round pick DeVante Parker should help.

Dolphins | Greg Jennings unlikely to return    Thu Feb 4, 11:18 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Greg Jennings is unlikely to return to the Dolphins in 2016.

Footballguys view: Jennings was a non-factor this past season, so this is no surprise.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron may require pay cut    Thu Feb 4, 11:12 AM

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron may be asked to take a pay cut in 2016. Cameron has a $7.5 million salary with a $9.5 million salary cap hit next season.

Footballguys view: Cameron wasn't the X-factor the Dolphins were looking for so trying to restructure his contract isn't a surprise. If he stays with the Dolphins, we'd be really excited by his upside and potential under new head coach Adam Gase.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller not top priority for Miami    Wed Feb 3, 07:29 PM

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent RB Lamar Miller is not at the top of the Dolphins' priority list this offseason. Re-signing DE Olivier Vernon will be at the forefront of the Miami organization.

Footballguys view: Same as it ever was. During his entire Dolphins career it just seemed like Miller wasn't used enough or used quite in the right way. Miller is going to be in a jam-packed free agent market at the RB position, but he's going to be one of the best backs available. There should be several teams interested.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews likely gone    Tue Feb 2, 04:36 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews isn't expected to return to Miami, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Footballguys view: Matthews wanted out last year, but he stayed and ended up putting up some decent numbers. In 11 games, Matthews had 43 catches for 662 yards and four touchdowns. His season was cut short by a ribs injury, but if he's healthy he can produce. We're excited by the fantasy potential of an Adam Gase Dolphins team, but it looks like Matthews won't be a part of what could be a dangerous offense.

Dolphins | Job security for Ryan Tannehill     Sun Jan 31, 02:25 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill won't have any competition at quarterback this offseason, according to executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum. Tannenbaum is convinced Miami can win with Tannehill and does not feel compelled to draft a quarterback to compete with him.

Footballguys view: Watch out for Tannehill in 2016. Working under new head coach Adam Gase, we should see a career-best season for Tannehill. It wouldn't surprise us to see Tannehill flourish under Gase and finish 2016 as a top-10 fantasy QB.

Dolphins | Adam Jones, Reggie Nelson may be targets    Sat Jan 30, 11:22 AM

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent CB Adam Jones and FS Reggie Nelson could receive interest from the Miami Dolphins this offseason since defensive coordinator Vance Joseph worked with them when he was part of the Bengals.

Footballguys view: We're expecting the Dolphins to be much improved on both sides of the ball. However, they're going to have to get creative with salaries if they want to even be a little bit active in free agency. As of right now (according to OverTheCap.com), the Dolphins only have $2.6 million in cap space. That number will change with player cuts and potential contract restructures.

Dolphins | Miami to have up-tempo offense    Fri Jan 29, 10:48 AM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill will run an offense under new offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen that resembles what QB Peyton Manning ran with the Indianapolis Colts.

Footballguys view: With new head coach Adam Gase, we're really excited by what the Dolphins offense could be. They should be able to get the best out of QB Ryan Tannehill, and that makes WRs Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker even more exciting fantasy options for the 2016 season. Using tempo as a weapon and improving the play from the defense could make the Dolphins an exciting team to watch.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker primed for breakout?    Sat Jan 23, 09:05 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker is the likely candidate to take over the No. 1 receiver role in 2016, according to Liz Loza of Yahoo! Sports.

Footballguys view: The entire Dolphins offense (especially QB Ryan Tannehill) should be more productive with Adam Gase running the show. Parker and Jarvis Landry should have career-best seasons under Gase's watch.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller will enter free agency    Fri Jan 22, 05:28 PM

Miami Dolphins impending unrestricted free-agent RB Lamar Miller will enter free agency this offseason, and he believes the fit with any team is the most important when considering his options. He wants to choose a team that is a good fit in scheme and opportunity. Miller finished 2015 with 872 rushing yards and 4.5 yards per carry.

Footballguys view: Miller is going to be one of the hottest running backs on what should be a saturated market. Even though he was used more over the last two years, we still think the Dolphins didn't use him enough. Any team in need of a starting running back should be interested in Miller. The best could be yet to come with the impending free agent.

Dolphins | Adam Gase likes Ryan Tannehill    Thu Jan 21, 09:41 PM

Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said he believes he can limit the number of sacks QB Ryan Tannehill takes and help him improve. 'I feel pretty good about what we can do with him,' Gase said Thursday, Jan. 21.

Footballguys view: Gase is going to work wonders for Tannehill. In Denver, Gase was able to get the best out of Peyton Manning (think about that). In Chicago, Gase was able to resurrect Jay Cutler's career. In Miami, we think Gase is going to be an incredibly positive influence on Tannehill.

Dolphins | Sign Zac Dysert    Tue Jan 19, 06:35 PM

Free-agent QB Zac Dysert (Texans) was signed to a Reserve/Futures deal by the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Footballguys view: New head coach Adam Gase has familiarity with Dysert as both were with the Broncos years ago. Dysert was a seventh-round pick out of Miami (OH) in 2013, but he failed to impress with the Broncos. Dysert is athletic and has a big arm, but he struggles with accuracy and consistency. He's an offseason arm for the Dolphins, and making the final roster after camp in August could be difficult.

Dolphins | Vance Joseph hired as Miami DC    Tue Jan 12, 05:22 PM

Cincinnati Bengals assistant coach Vance Joseph has been hired as the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A fantastic hiring here. The Dolphins seem to be on the right track. They've smashed it out of the park with the Adam Gase and Joseph hirings in our eyes. Gase will take care of the entire team, but he should really spark the offense and QB Ryan Tannehill. Joseph is one of the hottest candidates out there for a promotion to DC. He's smart, aggressive and a well-respected coach. Joseph should be able to get the most out of a talented-but-disappointing Miami defense.

Dolphins | Vance Joseph expected to be coordinator    Sat Jan 9, 12:01 PM

Dolphins | Adam Gase hired by Miami    Sat Jan 9, 11:57 AM

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase has been hired as the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Gase will receive a five-year contract from the Dolphins, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Gase will also have final say in personnel decisions. This is a great move for the Dolphins. Gase turned around the fortunes of QB Jay Cutler in 2015, and he got the best season out of Peyton Manning in 2013. Ryan Tannehill should have the best season of his career with Gase running the show.

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase will be heavily pursued by the Miami Dolphins to fill their vacant head coaching position. They have been targeting him for a while and will try to keep him from joining the Philadelphia Eagles, with whom he has had two interviews.

Footballguys view: Gase is one of the hottest coaching candidates out there. He might accept a job in the near future. Losing him will negatively impact Bears QB Jay Cutler.

Footballguys view: Davis is the first player signed in the NFL from the GFL. He played both sides of the ball, playing both wide receiver and cornerback. It will be interesting to see if he can make the final roster for the Dolphins. He'll be able to prove himself in OTAs and minicamp.

Dolphins | Mike Smith interviewing    Mon Jan 4, 03:13 PM

Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is meeting with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Jan. 4, in regards to their vacant head coach position.

Dolphins | Dennis Hickey let go    Sun Jan 3, 10:43 AM

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews going to IR    Sat Jan 2, 02:33 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) is heading to the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Jan. 2.

Footballguys view: Matthews originally wanted out of Miami before his contract year of 2015. Instead of getting traded or cut, Matthews stayed and put up a respectable 43 catches for 663 yards and four touchdowns. He's unlikely to return to the Dolphins in 2016, but there's some team out there who should be happy to add a player on the rise.

Dolphins | Interested in Adam Gase    Sat Jan 2, 02:15 PM

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase has drawn interest from the Miami Dolphins regarding their head coaching vacancy, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Gase is going to attract a lot of interest (finally) as a head coach. He was able to get career-best numbers out of Peyton Manning in 2013, and Gase helped Jay Cutler re-establish himself in 2015. The Dolphins could use his help in getting QB Ryan Tannehill to the next level. Each team with an opening should be interviewing Gase.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron likely will be cut    Sat Jan 2, 10:23 AM

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron probably will be released this offseason because he is scheduled to make $7.5 million in 2016, but there is a chance the team tries to re-sign him at a lower price.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Cameron has had a disappointing 2015 season, catching 33 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns. Lots of changes are coming (again) for the Dolphins, and we'd be shocked if Cameron stuck around for his current price tag.
