Dolphins | Jay Ajayi has cracked rib    Fri Sep 4, 09:19 AM

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (rib) suffered a cracked rib in the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3. The team isn't overly concerned. Ajayi ran nine times for 66 yards and caught two passes for 37 yards in the game before the injury.

Footballguys view: Ajayi finally showed out in the fourth preseason game, but he is buried on the depth chart right now. While Ajayi is the more desirable dynasty prospect, Damien Williams is the Lamar Miller handcuff.

Dolphins | Quiet debut for DeVante Parker    Fri Sep 4, 12:11 AM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) caught one pass on three targets for 11 yards against the Tampa Bay in his preseason debut Thursday, Sept. 3.

Footballguys view: That Parker was able to take the field before the end of preseason is a terrific sign. He should be able to get significant action very soon, if not in Week 1. Put Parker high on your list of late round stashes.

Dolphins | Jay Ajayi exits with chest injury    Thu Sep 3, 09:34 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (chest) suffered a chest injury in a preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, Sept. 3, and is questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Things have not gone to play for Ajayi this preseason. He hasn't wrestled any carries away from Lamar Miller and Damien Williams. Miller is a borderline RB1, while Williams is really just a handcuff for Miller. Both of which are more than Ajayi offers for now.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker will play    Thu Sep 3, 05:54 PM

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) will play Thursday, Sept. 3, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: We're excited about the upside Parker brings to the field. He's a fast receiver who does a good job of tracking passes over his shoulder. Parker has been banged up, and he's behind the other receivers on the roster. If healthy, look for him to work his way up the depth chart. He's got the ability to eventually start opposite Jarvis Landry.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker could play    Thu Sep 3, 05:21 PM

Miami Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker (foot) was on the field and looked ready to play Thursday, Sept. 3. Parker missed all of training camp recovering from foot surgery.

Dolphins | Jamar Taylor should be ready    Wed Sep 2, 05:10 PM

Miami Dolphins CB Jamar Taylor (quadriceps) should be ready for Week 1 despite dealing with a quadriceps injury.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins were looking to replace Taylor earlier this year, but he's a starter for the team if healthy. He should open the season opposite Brent Grimes, and the secondary should benefit from this swarming front seven in front of them.

Dolphins | Dion Sims praised by HC    Wed Sep 2, 04:58 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims could be a starter, according to head coach Joe Philbin. Philbin said Sims can do a lot of different tasks and is coming along nicely. Unfortunately for Sims, TE Jordan Cameron is starting.

Footballguys view: Sims is a quality tight end that fantasy owners need to keep on the waiver-wire speed dial. If Cameron gets hurt (he's never played a full 16-game season), then Sims could perform like a low-end TE1 for fantasy owners.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews improving    Wed Sep 2, 04:46 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews has shown a lot of growth this offseason, according to QB Ryan Tannehill. 'I would say that over the last six months I have seen the most growth from him,' Tannehill said. 'He is growing as a man, growing as a player, and developing his game in all aspects. His consistency is at an all-time high.'

Footballguys view: Just like Matthews wanted. He's been motivated by the team making multiple moves at the wide receiver position this offseason. Matthews isn't a player to add for your fantasy roster, but keep his name on your fantasy speed dial in case he starts to come through with better production than some think.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller due for big year?    Wed Sep 2, 03:51 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller's carries, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns have each increased over the last three seasons.

Footballguys view: We're excited about the upside of Miller this year. He's a RB2 with RB1 upside who you can get in the third round of your fantasy draft. Miller is in a contract year, and he added muscle to his frame in order to take on a larger role.

Dolphins | Andrew Franks not done yet    Mon Aug 31, 11:26 PM

Miami Dolphins PK Andrew Franks is locked in competition with PK Caleb Sturgis for the starting placekicker job, and it isn't over yet. However, Sturgis has been better lately. If Franks loses out, the club might keep him on the practice squad.

Dolphins | Dion Sims viewed as important    Mon Aug 31, 11:25 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims is behind TE Jordan Cameron on the depth chart, but head coach Joe Philbin said Monday, Aug. 31, that he also views Sims as a starter. 'He can do a lot of different jobs; is coming along nicely,' Philbin said.

Dolphins | Jake Stoneburner has stiff competition    Mon Aug 31, 11:24 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Jake Stoneburner is competing with TE Tim Semisch for the No. 3 tight end job, and he will also likely be competing against every other NFL tight end who will be cut this weekend. 'I am underestimated in the blocking area,' Stoneburner said Monday, Aug. 31. 'I'm tough. I'm not going to back down. I can make plays as well.'

Dolphins | Branden Albert practices    Mon Aug 31, 02:18 PM

Miami Dolphins OT Branden Albert (knee) worked with the first-team offense during practice Monday, Aug. 31.

Footballguys view: That's good and all, but Albert may not be available for the first couple of weeks of the regular season. Albert said he does not know when he will be able to play but did not rule out playing Week 1.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker making progress    Mon Aug 31, 01:22 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) said he is making progress in his recovery from foot surgery but would not say if he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Parker has good speed and ball-tracking ability. When healthy, Parker could be everything for this offense that Mike Wallace was not. Fantasy owners should be patient with the rookie due to this foot injury, but know that immense talent is there.

Dolphins | Branden Albert working with ones    Mon Aug 31, 12:14 PM

Miami Dolphins OT Branden Albert (knee) is working with the first team in practice Monday, Aug. 31.

Dolphins | Mike Pouncey checks out    Mon Aug 31, 12:07 PM

Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (knee) said his MRI was good, and he'll be available for Week 1. Pouncey will practice Monday, Aug. 31.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are breathing a sigh of relief here. With Pouncey in the middle, it will help an O-Line that will be missing left tackle Branden Albert for a week or two to begin the regular season.

Dolphins | Mike Pouncey tweaks knee    Sat Aug 29, 10:52 PM

Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (knee) is wearing a brace on his left knee and will have an MRI Sunday, Aug. 30, but he said that he is 'not too worried about it.'

Footballguys view: It sounds like this is a minor injury. That's good news for the Dolphins who will already be without starting left tackle Branden Albert for two games at the start of the regular season.

Dolphins | Mike Pouncey leaves early    Sat Aug 29, 07:29 PM

Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (knee) suffered a knee injury during the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29, and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: There's no word about the severity just yet. Losing Pouncey for any period of time would be blow to the Dolphins offense.

Dolphins | Branden Albert may miss regular season games    Sat Aug 29, 07:03 PM

Miami Dolphins OT Branden Albert (knee) will not play in either of the final two preseason games and is not expected to play until Week 3, according to a source.

Footballguys view: That's not terrible news for the Dolphins, but it's not great either. Jason Fox will take over as Ryan Tannehill's blind-side protector while Albert is out.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry to be used in red zone?    Fri Aug 28, 11:42 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry could produce a lot in the red zone this season, in the opinion of ESPN.com's James Walker. Walker cited Landry's precise route-running, good hands and his trust of QB Ryan Tannehill as reasons for why Landry should do well in that area this season.

Footballguys view: We like ourselves some Landry, and he's currently sitting as a WR3 in our rankings. Landry's been going in the early fifth round of drafts, which feels right. There's some concern over whether quarterback Ryan Tannehill can take the next step and whether Landry might get lost in the shuffle with Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills. On the other hand, we think he's in line for some nice red zone looks.

Dolphins | Jamar Taylor out Thursday    Thu Aug 27, 11:13 AM

Miami Dolphins CB Jamar Taylor (quadriceps) is out of practice Thursday, Aug. 27, and will not play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: Taylor is slotted across from Brent Grimes, so they are likely being more cautious than anything else. This has the potential to be a solid secondary, but whomever is paired with Grimes will have their work cut out as they will see plenty of targets. We see Miami as a borderline starting team defense, or a very good unit to pair with another similar squad.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker close to practicing?    Wed Aug 26, 11:17 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) could join practices on at least a limited basis next week, as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

Footballguys view: He's got a lot of work to do in order to have an impact in this crowded group. With Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings and Jarvis Landry ahead of him and already working with Ryan Tannehill, they have a leg up. Right now we see him as no more than a WR5.

Dolphins | DeVantre Parker unsure of Week 1 return    Wed Aug 26, 04:14 PM

Miami Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker (foot) isn't sure if he'll be healthy enough in time for Week 1. He and the Dolphins don't want to have rushed return just to see Parker aggravate the injury.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins just need to take it easy here. Parker has amazing upside as a big-play receiver in the NFL. We'd like to see him eased back into action. On the Dolphins offense, Parker could eventually start on the outside opposite Jarvis Landry. Fantasy owners are going to have to wait for him to get his chance. When he does, Parker could shine.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker out of practice    Wed Aug 26, 12:52 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) is out of practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Footballguys view: Right now, there's no telling when Parker is going to be back in action. His status for Week 1 of the regular season is certainly in doubt. We love his talent, but Parker's got to get healthy from this foot surgery to showcase his big-play ability.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker not cutting yet    Tue Aug 25, 04:52 PM

Miami Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker (foot) has not begun cutting on his injured foot yet. Parker is not practicing yet, either, but has been running hard.

Footballguys view: So far, the first-round pick hasn't shown anyone anything much, as he was on the PUP and continues to not practice as he recovers from June 5th foot surgery. On top of all the time he's missed, Parker's behind Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills, Jarvis Landry and tight end Jordan Cameron. At best we foresee a WR4 or WR5 year at best and at this rate, he might not even be ready for Week 1 of the season.

Dolphins | Louis Delmas to IR    Tue Aug 25, 12:42 PM

Miami Dolphins FS Louis Delmas (knee) was placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Dolphins | Damien Williams scores twice    Sun Aug 23, 09:26 AM

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams rushed for 14 yards and one touchdown on four carries in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22. Williams also caught one pass for 11 yards and one touchdown during the game.

Footballguys view: Williams was getting goal line work in relief of Lamar Miller, but he also fumbled a ball through the end zone for touchback. In an ironic twist, the carry was ruled down at the one, but head coach Joe Philbin challenged and the review uncovered the fumble the officials missed. Williams is the handcuff to Miller and he could have emergency flex value if the Dolphins offense clicks this year.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker out Thursday    Thu Aug 20, 08:36 AM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) won't practice Thursday, Aug. 20.

Footballguys view: The timetable for Parker has not changed. Yes, he's off the PUP list--and that's a good thing. However, the team is likely to keep the talented rookie limited until the start of the regular season.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker's timetable unchanged    Wed Aug 19, 03:02 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker's (foot) timetable should remain the same even though he was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Footballguys view: It's good to see Parker off the PUP list, but it's no indication he's going to be practicing fully anytime soon. Parker is still targeting Week 1 for his return to the field.

Dolphins | Louis Delmas has torn ACL    Wed Aug 19, 12:50 PM

Miami Dolphins FS Louis Delmas (knee) has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
