Dolphins | DeVante Parker won't be traded    Wed Aug 15, 11:10 AM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (finger) won't be traded, according to a league source. The Dolphins are happy Parker has advanced in his knowledge of the offense to where he knows both outside receiver spots.

Footballguys view: It's unclear what they could get for him after his numerous disappointments and failure to fulfill his first-round potential to date. Parker has plummeted down draft boards and it's fair to ask if he'll have more value than Albert Wilson this year if the trend continues.

Dolphins | Kalen Ballage in concussion protocol    Tue Aug 14, 09:47 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (concussion) is unlikely to play in the team's second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Friday, Aug. 17. Ballage was placed in the concussion protocol after apparently taking a shot to the head during practice Monday, Aug. 13.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker week to week    Tue Aug 14, 11:30 AM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (finger) is week to week with a broken middle finger, according to a source. He's expected back for the season opener.

Footballguys view: Parker was already having an underwhelming camp. He's only a late round flier at this point, with Kenny Stills on the rise, assuming his ankle is ok. Albert Wilson could end up having value during the season if Parker struggles.

Updating previous reports, free-agent CB Bashaud Breeland (Redskins) has mutual interest in the Miami Dolphins, but nothing is imminent.

Dolphins | Kenny Stills remains sidelined    Mon Aug 13, 01:33 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 13.

Footballguys view: Stills has missed plenty of time in training camp due to this ankle injury. The team has always said they're going to take it easy on the veteran receiver so this problem doesn't linger into the regular season. He's got WR3/flex upside for Fantasy GMs in 2018 and Stills has a current ADP of WR52 (11.08).

Dolphins | No timetable for Mike Hull    Sun Aug 12, 06:29 PM

Miami Dolphins LB Mike Hull (knee) has been sidelined with a knee injury he suffered in the first preseason, and head coach Adam Gase said there is no timetable for his return.

Dolphins | Kalen Ballage struggles in practice Sunday    Sun Aug 12, 02:45 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage endured a 'Welcome to the NFL practice' on Sunday, Aug. 12, according to Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald. Ballage was kicked out of the huddle by quarterback Ryan Tannehill after missing a block in Sunday's practice. Tannehill laid into the rookie some more on the sideline after the rep. Ballage later got 'leveled' on a tackle, according to Salguero.

Footballguys view: Ballage's physical abilities are translating, but there's a lot more to than that to getting on the field. He won't be threatening for first-team snaps if this continues.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker still not standing out    Sun Aug 12, 02:23 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (finger) jammed a finger on his right hand midway through practice Sunday, Aug. 12, although he remained on the field and was able to finish the session. However, Parker was 'not only covered, but blanketed' by CB Xavien Howard while being held without a catch despite seeing at least three targets during team drills prior to the injury Sunday, according to Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald.

Footballguys view: Howard is certainly moving into the upper ranks of cornerbacks, but Parker's lack of effort is also standing out. He's rightfully dropping down draft boards and there are probably better fliers to take at wide receiver in the range of the draft he's going in, even at a discount.

Dolphins | Kenny Stills sidelined Sunday    Sun Aug 12, 11:56 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills (ankle) was held out of practice Sunday, Aug. 12.

Footballguys view: Adam Gase said the team will be smart and hold him back to avoid setbacks that would make the injury linger into the season. File this away in case Stills has problems later this year with his left ankle.

Dolphins | Jerome Baker practicing with starting defense    Sun Aug 12, 10:31 AM

Miami Dolphins LB Jerome Baker began working with the first-team defense in practice Sunday, Aug. 12.

Footballguys view: Baker had a good preseason opener and the Dolphins have had issues at linebacker for a long time. He also played with MLB Raekwon McMillan at Ohio State. He's a deep IDP sleeper to watch.

Dolphins | Tony Lippett bothered by right ankle injury    Sun Aug 12, 10:24 AM

Dolphins | Mike Hull injury update    Fri Aug 10, 07:54 PM

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins LB Mike Hull (knee) suffered a medial collateral ligament injury during the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 9, according to a source. He is expected to miss some time, but the injury is not a season-ending injury.

Dolphins | Kalen Ballage busy Thursday    Thu Aug 9, 10:44 PM

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage rushed 10 times for 37 yards, caught three passes for 23 yards and lost a fumble in a 26-24 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Ballage's physical tools were apparent on some touches, but so was his inexperience and inability to consistently make those gifts matter. He's only going to matter in fantasy leagues if Kenyan Drake goes down this year.

Dolphins | Ryan Tannehill likely for Thursday    Wed Aug 8, 05:14 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) might play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 9, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 'We'll sit down and kind of talk through stuff,' head coach Adam Gase said. 'I know what he's going to say already. He wants to get out there and get going because in his mind, these are important.'

Footballguys view: It's been quite some time since we've seen Tannehill under center for the Dolphins as he missed all of the 2017 season due to a knee injury. Reports out of Miami have been positive about his recovery, but it will good to see it with our own eyes in whatever limited preseason action he gets on Thursday.

Dolphins | Andre Branch well down depth chart    Wed Aug 8, 03:10 PM

Miami Dolphins DE Andre Branch is listed on the third-team defense after the team released its first preseason depth chart on Wednesday, Aug. 8. He might be on the fringe for the 53-man roster as a result.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki may be used at WR    Tue Aug 7, 07:55 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has the skill set to play outside as a wide receiver if the Dolphins choose to implement him there, according to The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.

Footballguys view: Not a big deal even though the headline grabs your attention as Gesicki plays like a super-sized wide receiver anyway. Gesicki's size and athleticism make him a mismatch anywhere on the field.

Dolphins | Albert Wilson to be used at RB?    Tue Aug 7, 07:48 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson said he could be used in many different ways this season, including being lined up in the backfield.

Footballguys view: Wilson is currently third or fourth in the pecking order at the wide receiver position. The veteran is great after the catch and it just makes sense to get him the ball in multiple ways. Wilson is not much of a fantasy asset at this point but if someone like Danny Amendola gets banged up on the depth chart in front of him, he might get some deep flex appeal. Keep him on your waiver wire speed dial in deep leagues.

Dolphins | Tony Lippett suffers injury    Tue Aug 7, 04:05 PM

Dolphins | Jeremy Langford joining Dolphins    Mon Aug 6, 07:28 PM

Free-agent RB Jeremy Langford (Jets) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Aug. 6, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A fourth-round pick out of Michigan State in 2015, Langford is most known for his play with the Chicago Bears. He bounced around the league in 2017, spending time with the Ravens and the Jets on the practice squad. The Dolphins added talent to their backfield in free agency (Frank Gore) and the draft (Kallen Ballage). It will be tough for Langford to crack the 53-man roster.

Dolphins | Danny Amendola tabbed for the slot    Sun Aug 5, 09:44 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Danny Amendola is listed as the No. 3 receiver on the first depth chart released Sunday, Aug. 5.

Footballguys view: Just like we thought, Amendola should become a favorite target for QB Ryan Tannehill. Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker will start on the outside for the Dolphins. We're not expecting it to be incredibly robust for the Dolphins passing game, but Amendola does have some flex appeal in PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Miami pulls surprises with first depth chart    Sun Aug 5, 03:30 PM

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore both appeared atop the team's first depth chart Sunday, Aug. 5. Another one of the more notable surprises was TE Mike Gesicki, who was listed as the fifth-string tight end.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake, Frank Gore listed as starters    Sun Aug 5, 03:24 PM

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore both appeared atop the team's first depth chart Sunday, Aug. 5.

Footballguys view: This is frustrating if you've been drafting Drake with the assumption that he'll clearly lead this backfield in touches. He has the most talent, but Gore is reliable and hard-nosed and will get some deference returning to South Florida. Adam Gase's handling of his backfield has caused consternation in fantasy leagues over the last two years, and this development could be a precursor to another rocky campaign for those searching for value in the Dolphins backfield.

Dolphins | Kenny Stills comfortable inside in 2017    Sun Aug 5, 02:42 AM

Dolphins | First-team snaps for Cordrea Tankersley    Sat Aug 4, 02:31 PM

Miami Dolphins CB Cordrea Tankersley worked with the first-team defense during the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: The opposite budding shutdown corner Xavien Howard is up for grabs, but no matter who wins it, that player will be a target for opposite quarterbacks and big factor in weekly lineup and DFS plays.

Dolphins | Isaiah Ford, A.J. Derby still out    Sat Aug 4, 02:30 PM

Dolphins | Torry McTyer in lead for CB job    Fri Aug 3, 05:41 PM

Miami Dolphins CB Torry McTyer is currently the leading candidate for the starting job opposite CB Xavien Howard, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Footballguys view: Howard is turning into one of the league's newest shutdown corners, but the Dolphins will be starting a question mark on the opposite side, something to keep in mind when we set our lineups and plan our DFS weeks in 2018.

Dolphins | William Hayes dealing with injury    Fri Aug 3, 05:30 PM

Miami Dolphins DE William Hayes (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 3. Head coach Adam Gase said he is not worried if Hayes misses some practices during training camp because he knows that Hayes will be ready for the regular season.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki 'playing fast'    Fri Aug 3, 02:19 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki is 'playing fast,' according to head coach Adam Gase.

Footballguys view: Gesicki didn't stand out in the spring and had a slow start to camp, but the tide is turning. It's difficult for rookie tight ends to have fantasy relevance, but Gase turned Julius Thomas into a fantasy wonder, and Gesicki could be the #1 red zone target.

Dolphins | Shoulder injury for Isaiah Ford    Wed Aug 1, 06:42 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Isaiah Ford (shoulder) has been limited during training camp because of a shoulder injury.

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick out of Virginia Tech in the 2017 NFL draft, Ford missed his entire rookie season due to a knee injury. Early reports indicate he's been impressive in camp so hopefully this shoulder injury doesn't keep him limited for long. Keep an eye on him in dynasty formats.

Dolphins | Ja'Wuan James limited Wednesday    Wed Aug 1, 06:39 PM

Dolphins | Cordrea Tankersley may have edge for CB job    Wed Aug 1, 06:36 PM

Miami Dolphins CB Cordrea Tankersley appears to have a small edge over CB Tony Lippett for the starting job opposite CB Xavien Howard, in the opinion of The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.

  Dolphins | A.J. Derby day-to-day    Wed Aug 1, 06:20 PM

Miami Dolphins TE A.J. Derby (foot) is considered day-to-day because of his foot injury, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Footballguys view: Derby couldn't make it through the year last season with the Broncos even though he ended 2017 as their leading tight end in terms of catches and yards. He's getting another start with his third team now (Patriots, Broncos, Dolphins) in just a few years. Derby is a 'F' tight end, meaning he's a receiving threat but don't ask him to block.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker off to slow start    Mon Jul 30, 03:40 PM

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker has not been able to do much in training camp so far while being shadowed by CB Xavien Howard. Parker's ineffectiveness has been mostly noticeable in team drills, according to The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.

Footballguys view: Every year Parker is touted as a potential breakout player then he ends up disappointing in some form or fashion. The Dolphins are looking for Parker (or someone) to emerge as their no1 WR since trading away Jarvis Landry to the Browns. Parker is a player we're fine letting other Fantasy GMs draft. He's got a current ADP of WR38 (8.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Isaiah Ford still limited    Mon Jul 30, 12:48 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Isaiah Ford (undisclosed) wore a no-contact jersey for the third straight practice Monday, July 30.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins like Ford and he has a shot to make the team as the fifth receiver, but he needs to get back to full contact football in practice to earn that spot.

Dolphins | Teammate impressed with Charles Harris    Mon Jul 30, 12:10 PM

Miami Dolphins DE Charles Harris has had one of the most impressive offseasons among everyone on the team, according to DE Cameron Wake.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have one of the strongest edge rush groups in the league with Wake, trade acquisition Robert Quinn, 2017 first-round pick Harris, William Hayes, and Andre Branch. Harris is on the rise, but getting enough snaps to be consistently relevant in fantasy leagues could be tough unless the Dolphins make a trade.

Dolphins | Albert Wilson not a slot option    Mon Jul 30, 12:09 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson is an outside receiver and will not be an option for the slot receiver job, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Footballguys view: This really sinks his value for 2018 in redraft leagues and puts Danny Amendola firmly on our PPR late-round radar. It's not even clear that Wilson is a hold in dynasty leagues right now.

Dolphins | A.J. Derby sits out    Sun Jul 29, 06:41 PM

Miami Dolphins TE A.J. Derby (foot) did not participate in practice Sunday, July 29, because of a foot injury.

Footballguys view: Derby is one of the main obstacles between second-round pick Mike Gesicki and playing time and targets. If this is a lingering injury, it could give the rookie a chance to build momentum with the first team.

Dolphins | Mike Gesicki 'exactly as advertised'    Sun Jul 29, 03:39 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki received his most extensive first-team work and caught two touchdown passes in practice Sunday, July 29. According to tight ends coach Shane Day, he has been competent as a blocker as well through four days of camp and two days of practicing in upper pads.

Footballguys view: Adam Gase made a fantasy star out Julius Thomas in Denver, so the tight end position is one to watch in Miami, although the bar is always very high for rookie tight ends to make a fantasy impact. Gesicki is more of a mid-season waiver wire pickup than a player you draft and stash for the long haul. He does open with Tennessee, the Jets, and Oakland, so Gesicki could get off to a hot start.
