Dolphins | Stevan Ridley visiting Miami    Tue Mar 31, 08:56 AM

Free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (Patriots) is visiting the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, March 31.

Footballguys view: Ridley hasn't gotten a ton of interest on the open market. He is getting some traction now as he gets closer to full strength recovering from a knee injury. Ridley is expected to receive full medical clearance in around six weeks.

Dolphins | Derrick Shelby signs tender    Thu Mar 26, 11:46 AM

Miami Dolphins restricted free-agent DE Derrick Shelby signed his tender offer Wednesday, March 26. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Shelby is strictly a rotational guy, but a vital one. He's young, does a good job getting to the quarterback and has a lot of upside.

Dolphins | Jimmy Graham almost went to Miami    Tue Mar 24, 03:02 PM

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham was almost a Miami Dolphin as the Dolphins finished second to the Seahawks in an attempt to trade for the tight end.

Footballguys view: Graham will be in the running for a Super Bowl ring with the Seahawks. He wouldn't be in the running with the Dolphins. Instead of Graham, the Dolphins were able to snare Jordan Cameron in free agency.

Dolphins | Joe Philbin deal extended    Tue Mar 24, 02:47 AM

Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin had his deal extended through the 2016 season by team management.

Footballguys view: Philbin was in the final year of his contract, and the team didn't want him to be concerned with that. This team has talent, but they need to do better than 8-8 if Philbin wants to keep his job.

Dolphins | Ryan Tannehill may have option picked up    Mon Mar 23, 06:55 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill's fifth-year option will be picked up if the team is not able to sign him to a contract extension over the next six weeks, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Tannehill seems to be the answer at the quarterback position for the Dolphins. He would make $16 million in 2016 if his option is picked up. It is believed the Dolphins have talked about signing Tannehill to a six-year deal worth more than $100 million.

Dolphins | Ryan Tannehill may receive extension    Mon Mar 23, 04:34 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is a candidate for a contract extension this offseason, and the two sides are expected to begin talks in the near future, according to owner Stephen Ross.

Dolphins | Greg Jennings, Miami could talk deal    Sun Mar 22, 09:18 PM

Free-agent WR Greg Jennings and the Miami Dolphins will discuss a deal if the two meet for an already planned visit.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are looking for wide receiver help after moving Mike Wallace. Jennings makes a lot of sense as he'd give them a reliable target for Ryan Tannehill, and Jennings would give them veteran depth at the position.

Dolphins | Matt Moore re-signed    Fri Mar 20, 04:23 PM

Free-agent QB Matt Moore (Dolphins) re-signed with the Miami Dolphins Friday, March 20. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: It's a good move for both sides. Moore gets to stay where he's comfortable, and the Dolphins get to keep a solid backup quarterback behind Ryan Tannehill.

Dolphins | Louis Delmas says he'll be ready    Fri Mar 20, 02:15 PM

Miami Dolphins FS Louis Delmas (knee) said he'll definitely be ready for the start of the 2015 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last year.

Footballguys view: Delmas is a talented player, but man alive is he banged up a lot. The team would be wise to take it easy on the veteran as he comes back from yet another injury.

Dolphins | LaMichael James re-signed    Fri Mar 20, 02:09 PM

Free-agent RB LaMichael James re-signed with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal Friday, March 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: James will continue to serve as a return man and part-time running back. There's little fantasy relevance with this signing.

Dolphins | Louis Delmas re-signing    Fri Mar 20, 01:17 PM

Free-agent FS Louis Delmas (Dolphins) is re-signing with the Miami Dolphins on an undisclosed deal Friday, March 20, according to a source.

Dolphins | J.D. Walton joining roster    Thu Mar 19, 06:44 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent C/G J.D. Walton (Giants) will sign an undisclosed contract with the Miami Dolphins.

Footballguys view: Message to all teams facing the Dolphins: zero-gap blitz this guy if he's on the field. Walton failed to impress during his time with the Broncos or the Giants. In Miami, he'll work as a backup center behind Mike Pouncey.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron the go-to TE    Thu Mar 19, 01:15 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron will be the team's go-to tight end now that they didn't bring back TE Charles Clay, who signed an offer sheet with the Buffalo Bills. Cameron made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and has more athleticism than Clay, but Cameron has also dealt with multiple concussions.

Footballguys view: Cameron is tremendously talented, but at this point seems prone to concussions. That's the big gamble both for the Dolphins and fantasy owners. If he goes down, they just have guys like Dion Sims to step up. If he stays healthy though, this is a tight end heavy offense and he could put up a lot of points. That's a big 'if' but one worth exploring.

Dolphins | Tarvaris Jackson, J.D. Walton visiting    Thu Mar 19, 11:32 AM

Free-agent QB Tarvaris Jackson (Seahawks) and C J.D. Walton (Giants) are scheduled to meet with the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 19.

Footballguys view: Walton would be an interesting pickup, though he was shaky for the Giants last season. Jackson is no more than a third-string backup at best and maybe not even that.

Dolphins | Miami will not match Charles Clay offer    Thu Mar 19, 11:20 AM

Miami Dolphins transition free-agent TE Charles Clay's five-year, $38 million offer sheet he signed with the Buffalo Bills will not be matched by the Dolphins, according to a source. Clay will now become a member of the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: Once Jordan Cameron was in the house, that house had writing on the wall for Charles Clay. Clay is a fine tight end and might have been helpful with Cameron having suffered multiple concussions. If that rears its ugly head again this season, the Dolphins have to hope Dion Sims, Jake Stoneburner or another depth tight end can step up. We like Sims to emerge if Cameron is down.

Dolphins | Michael Crabtree meeting with Miami    Wed Mar 18, 01:43 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Crabtree (49ers) is meeting with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, March 18, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are looking for wide receiver help since they traded Mike Wallace away to the Vikings. Crabtree hasn't been getting that much interest on the open market, but things could heat up (a bit) since the first wave of free agency is done.

Dolphins | Interested in Dan Connolly    Tue Mar 17, 02:00 PM

Free-agent OG Dan Connolly (Patriots) is receiving interest from the Miami Dolphins at the guard position.

Dolphins | Would like to retain Matt Moore    Tue Mar 17, 02:40 AM

Free-agent QB Matt Moore (Dolphins) is drawing interest from the Miami Dolphins, and Moore would like to return. However, sources indicate Moore wants fair market value for a backup quarterback so he may explore other options.

Footballguys view: Moore should just stay in Miami if the price is right. He's a good backup to keep around in case Ryan Tannehill gets banged up.

Dolphins | Dolphins halt talks with Charles Clay     Sun Mar 15, 07:30 PM

Miami Dolphins transition free-agent TE Charles Clay is no longer in contract talks with the team, and the Dolphins are waiting on an offer sheet from the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: He's likely to go to the Bills now. The Dolphins made that decision (essentially) when they signed Jordan Cameron.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron unfazed by concussions    Sun Mar 15, 09:40 AM

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron said he does not believe the three concussions he suffered over the past three seasons will affect him moving forward. 'I've seen a lot of specialists and talked to a lot of people and it's cleared. My baseline is the same as it was six years ago. There's no cause for concern on my end for this, and the Dolphins felt the same,' Cameron said.

Footballguys view: We're hopeful that concussions don't slow him down further. Cameron has never played a full 16-game season in the NFL, but he has the upside to be a top-3 fantasy tight end. It will be interesting to see how the targets are split up in Miami's new-look passing game.

Dolphins | Dolphins finished pursuing Charles Clay?    Sat Mar 14, 09:34 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Charles Clay is no longer in the team's plans, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Footballguys view: That was made clear when the Dolphins added Jordan Cameron last week. The Dolphins will use Cameron and Dion Sims as their primary tight ends. Expect Clay to sign with the Buffalo Bills.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace traded by Miami    Fri Mar 13, 07:20 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace has been traded by the Dolphins to the Minnesota Vikings for a fifth-round draft choice, according a source. The Vikings will also receive a seventh-round draft choice.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins put Wallace on the trade block and found a taker real quick. They added tight end Jordan Cameron in free agency, and they traded for wide receiver Kenny Stills on Friday. They didn't need Wallace (and his $9 million cap hit) anymore.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace on trade block    Fri Mar 13, 03:17 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace has been placed on the trade block after the team acquired WR Kenny Stills in a trade.

Footballguys view: With the addition of Stills, tight end Jordan Cameron and the emergence of Jarvis Landry last year, Wallace has become expendable. With a cap hit over $9 million, it might be difficult to find suitors for the veteran receiver.

Dolphins | Charles Clay to sign extension with MIA?    Fri Mar 13, 01:40 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Charles Clay is still trying to be signed to a long-term extension.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have signed Jordan Cameron in free agency--a potential sign they felt Clay was going to be signed away by another team. Clay is drawing serious interest from the Buffalo Bills.

Dolphins | Trade Dannell Ellerbe and draft pick    Fri Mar 13, 01:00 PM

Dolphins | Dolphins sign Jordan Cameron    Thu Mar 12, 09:22 PM

Free-agent TE Jordan Cameron (Browns) has signed with the Miami Dolphins, the team announced Thursday, March 12.

Footballguys view: The Browns did not get their man! Contrary to earlier reports that had him staying in Cleveland, Cameron is taking his talents to South Beach. We'll see if this move signals the team is going to let Charles Clay go in free agency (likely to the Bills). Cameron is a seam-ripper when healthy, and he can be a big-play weapon for QB Ryan Tannehill. Staying healthy has been a problem for Cameron, and concussions are a concern. If he's playing, Cameron is a top-10 fantasy tight end.

  Dolphins | T.J. Heath re-signs    Thu Mar 12, 06:10 PM

Free-agent CB T.J. Heath (Dolphins) was re-signed to an undisclosed deal by the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 12.

Footballguys view: Heath is a depth signing, at best. And a value one now that Ndamukong Suh had taken all the money.

Dolphins | Ndamukong Suh officially signs    Wed Mar 11, 04:05 PM

Miami Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh officially signed a six-year, $114 million deal Wednesday, March 11. The deal includes a $60 million signing bonus.

Dolphins | Randy Starks released    Wed Mar 11, 09:25 AM

Miami Dolphins DT Randy Starks was released Wednesday, March 11.

Footballguys view: With Ndamukong Suh on board, even with Jared Odrick gone, the Dolphins didn't see a use for Starks at market value.

Dolphins | Miami to host Jordan Cameron    Wed Mar 11, 01:07 AM

The Miami Dolphins will host free-agent TE Jordan Cameron (Browns) Wednesday, March 11, barring him getting a quick deal elsewhere.

Footballguys view: Charles Clay got the transition tag from Miami, but Buffalo and Cleveland seem intent on making Clay an offer he can't refuse. Cameron is an ultra-talented pass catcher, but his history of concussions could be obstacle to a long-term deal. Dion Sims is also waiting in the wings at tight end for the Fins.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace open to restructure?    Wed Mar 11, 01:06 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace indicated Tuesday, March 10, that he might be open to restructuring his deal. "Like I said I am willing to help out the team, but at the same time I'm not about to do nothing crazy either. I'll definitely help the team out, but it has to be reasonable - what I feel is reasonable," Wallace said.

Footballguys view: All signs are now pointing towards Wallace staying a Dolphin, which is good for the offense because even if Wallace isn't producing, his deep speed is stressing defenses and opening things up for the running game and short passing game.

Dolphins | Phillip Wheeler released    Tue Mar 10, 06:24 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace's return to Miami is becoming more likely as the free agency period progresses.

Dolphins | Miami could interest Andre Johnson    Tue Mar 10, 12:20 PM

Free-agent WR Andre Johnson (Texans) could be an option for the Miami Dolphins. Three sources close to him said he's working out in Miami Tuesday, March 10, and his home and family are there.

Footballguys view: Johnson could go to the Dolphins or the Colts. He might want to join Frank Gore in Indianapolis. We consider the Colts the frontrunners for his services.

Dolphins | Ndamukong Suh to receive big contract    Sun Mar 8, 01:13 PM

Detroit Lions impending free-agent DT Ndamukong Suh will sign with the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, March 10, to a six-year deal worth around $114 million with $60 million in guaranteed money, according to sources. Suh will make $60 million in the first three seasons.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Everyone under the sun was expecting the Dolphins to get their man. It's not "official" until Tuesday, but it looks like Suh is going to be in Miami.

Dolphins | Ndamukong Suh appears headed to Miami    Sat Mar 7, 04:11 PM

Detroit Lions impending free-agent DT Ndamukong Suh is likely to sign with the Miami Dolphins when free agency opens Tuesday, March 10. People around the league are talking about Suh as if it has already happened, according to several league sources.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have put themselves in position to land the hottest free agent on the open market. Suh is a disruptive player in the middle, and he certainly commands a lot of attention from an opponent. We'll see if Miami can make this happen. The Raiders are also thought to be a team of great interest.

Dolphins | Philip Wheeler to be released    Sat Mar 7, 03:27 PM

Miami Dolphins LB Philip Wheeler is being released, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Wheeler is not the same player he used to be. Even as a run-stuffer he struggled to make an impact in 2014. There may not be that many teams interested in the aging linebacker.

Dolphins | C.J. Spiller in aqua and orange?    Sat Mar 7, 12:36 AM

The Miami Dolphins are one of several teams with interest in free-agent RB C.J. Spiller (Bills), multiple league sources said Friday, March 6.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins need running back help, and adding an explosive weapon like Spiller would benefit the offense. If added, Spiller would work alongside Lamar Miller.
