Bills | Sammy Watkins practices in full    Wed Oct 1, 03:52 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Footballguys view: The hope is that Watkins stock starts to go up with a better passer - Kyle Orton - in the lineup. He should be close to 100% now and hopefully not thinking about his ribs as he goes over the middle of the field.

Bills | Kyle Orton to start    Mon Sep 29, 03:39 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Kyle Orton will start Week 5 in place of QB EJ Manuel, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

Footballguys view: Wow, just wow. Orton is a seasoned veteran, but Manuel was supposed to be the franchise quarterback for the Bills. We'll get more information about this in the near future, but right now it's a shocking move. Manuel has struggled this season, but most young quarterbacks are allowed the time to work through these issues. Orton's insertion into the starting lineup doesn't mean the team will fill the air with footballs. He should heavily target rookie WR Sammy Watkins..and the checkdown options.

Bills | Robert Woods fully practices    Thu Sep 25, 03:51 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: Woods was someone people thought would break out after a good rookie season but he has struggled this year. Even against a shaky Houston defense, we can't see him as more than a WR4 or WR5 - a hail mary flex as a best case scenario. This offense has a limited passing game that is all about Sammy Watkins when firing on all cylinders.

Bills | Sammy Watkins on the field    Thu Sep 25, 03:45 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: Watkins is the centerpiece of this limited passing game. In PPR leagues, we like Watkins as a low-end WR2/flex play with upside. The Texans' pass D is ranked eighteenth in the NFL averaging 243.3 net passing yards per game, with three passing scores allowed. Buffalo could have more success through the air than some people think.

Bills | EJ Manuel takes part in practice    Thu Sep 25, 03:43 PM

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel (abdomen) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: Manuel is barely startable in a QB2 league--and forget a standard league. The matchup is a good one in theory, as you can throw the ball on the Texans, but Manuel is inconsistent as the day is long.

Bills | Marquise Goodwin going through protocol    Thu Sep 25, 02:40 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin (head) is going through the concussion protocol after suffering the injury in Week 3.

Footballguys view: Goodwin hasn't been a fantasy factor this year so while we wish him well, he isn't worth rostering much less putting in your starting lineup.

Bills | C.J. Spiller on injury report    Thu Sep 25, 02:39 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (chest) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: We saw against the New York Giants that Houston can be run on and while we don't expect 167 yards like Rashad Jennings put up, we believe Spiller should be able to produce RB2 numbers this week. If the Bills would give him a full slate of carries, he could do more, but they won't. With EJ Manuel's struggles, Spiller will be held back.

Bills | Cyril Richardson working with starters    Thu Sep 25, 01:22 PM

Bills | Chris Williams might practice Thursday    Wed Sep 24, 10:33 PM

Buffalo Bills OG Chris Williams (back) might be able to practice Thursday, Sept. 25. 'We're gonna see how it goes,' head coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday, Sept. 24. 'We're hoping tomorrow to get him out there and see where he's at. And then seeing how it progresses all the way until Sunday.' OG Cyril Richardson might start if Williams cannot play in Week 4.

Bills | Robert Woods fully participates    Wed Sep 24, 04:01 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Footballguys view: Woods has been quiet since his Week 1 performance where he caught four passes for 78 yards. This week against the Texans, we see Woods as a WR4/flex play.

Bills | EJ Manuel a full go    Wed Sep 24, 03:58 PM

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel (abdominal) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Footballguys view: The Bills passing game is somewhat limited. Manuel needs to target Sammy Watkins more if he wants to have success through the air. Even with increased success, the Bills are not going to fill the air with footballs. This makes Manuel a low-end QB2 option in start-2 QB leagues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins fully practices    Wed Sep 24, 03:48 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Footballguys view: Watkins has been targeted 23 times this year, and he's caught 13 passes for 167 yards and one touchdown. Most of that came in Week 2 against the Dolphins when he hauled in eight passes for 117 yards and a score. Against the Texans in Week 4, we see Watkins as a low-end WR2 with upside.

Bills | Marcus Easley has sprained MCL    Tue Sep 23, 06:11 AM

Updating a previous item, Buffalo Bills WR Marcus Easley (knee) suffered a sprained MCL and could be out 4-6 weeks. The team has not used its injured reserve/designated to return slot yet, but the belief is Easley won't go on IR/DTR because he may be out just a month.

Footballguys view: Easley's pro career will be able to be summed up by the phrase "what might have been." He's a talented player, but Easley has been constantly banged up as a pro.

Bills | EJ Manuel struggles with deep ball    Mon Sep 22, 09:22 PM

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel struggled with deeper passes in Week 3, completing just three of his 12 attempts. He didn't have a completion for more than 16 yards. Prior to Week 3, just 17 percent of Manuel's pass attempts had traveled more than 10 yards.

Footballguys view: The team is keeping things simple for Manuel as he enters his second year in the league. As Manuel struggles, so does rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins. If Manuel can play better, it will lead to better stats for the budding star wideout.

Bills | Sammy Watkins quiet in loss    Sun Sep 21, 08:12 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) was able to play in Week 3 against the San Diego Chargers, but he was limited to just two receptions and 19 yards. He was targeted eight times.

Footballguys view: Watkins was a dud after a fiery Week 2 seemed to deliver on the promise of his torrid start to training camp. EJ Manuel played poorly, and the Chargers efficient offense effectively played "keep away" from Buffalo.

Bills | Three unable to return    Sun Sep 21, 06:42 PM

Bills | Sammy Watkins probable    Fri Sep 19, 02:44 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is probable for Week 3.

Footballguys view: Watkins is getting healthier every week, so don't assume his 8-117-1 from Week 2 is his ceiling. It's tough to leave him on the bench at home against the Chargers coming off of that splashy performance.

Buffalo Bills LB Randell Johnson (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and has been ruled out for Week 3. LB Keith Rivers (groin) was limited in practice and is doubtful.   Bills | Robert Woods may not play    Thu Sep 18, 09:32 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) would not be able to play in Week 3 at this point because of his injury, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

Footballguys view: Woods has been passed up in the pecking order by star rookie Sammy Watkins. Even when Woods is at full strength, there's not enough in the Buffalo passing game to make him fantasy relevant.

Bills | Sammy Watkins fully practices    Thu Sep 18, 03:17 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Footballguys view: Watkins is ready to build on his breakout Week 2 performance. San Diego improved their pass defense but not enough--even with few other targets for EJ Manuel to throw to, the Chargers will struggle to slow Watkins down. He should be good for high-end WR1 numbers this week.

The Buffalo Bills have declared RB Bryce Brown, OG Cyril Richardson, OT Cyrus Kouandjio, FS Jonathan Meeks, LB Keith Rivers, TE Lee Smith, CB Ross Cockrell inactive for Week 2.
