Bills | Sammy Watkins not sure about camp    Sun Jun 26, 01:46 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was noncommittal about his status for training camp. Watkins said if he's not ready for training camp then he'll get ready for the first game of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Watkins stance is more optimistic than the complete non-committal stance he took recently, but it is still hard to know if we should significantly move him down from the second round ADP he had before offseason foot surgery. The talent to deliver on that ADP is obviously there, but the durability might not be.

Bills | Seantrel Henderson wants to add weight    Fri Jun 24, 05:56 PM

Buffalo Bills OT Seantrel Henderson (illness) was down to 306 pounds during minicamp because of his multiple surgeries but is looking to weigh 325 to 330 pounds when he starts playing again.

Footballguys view: Henderson had been out of contact with the team, but he is back on their radar now. He could be a solid swing tackle with Jordan Mills currently holding down the right tackle job.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor may get in-season extension    Wed Jun 22, 06:50 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor and the Bills are both open to an in-season extension, according to a source. Talks have been ongoing through the offseason, but an extension is not expected before the season starts.

Footballguys view: The Bills know Taylor can demand at least 10-12 million a year as a starting quarterback, and they need to see that he can stay healthy and effective over more than one season before committing that. It's a smart move from a money standpoint, but every game that Taylor plays well will increase what he is due on his next contract. This can only help him for fantasy, where he is going as a backup quarterback, but one that can score in the top 7-10 in any given week because of his running ability.

Bills | Dezmin Lewis turns heads in minicamp    Tue Jun 21, 01:10 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Dezmin Lewis impressed during minicamp, and drew the raves from head coach Rex Ryan, who said Lewis 'consistently has done a great job.'

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick out of Central Arkansas last year, Lewis is a raw prospect but he has an intriguing size/speed combination. He can win on vertical routes but needs better 'my ball' mentality when going against more physical CBs. We're watching him in super deep dynasty leagues.

Bills | Karlos Williams has gained weight    Tue Jun 21, 01:09 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams was carrying extra weight during minicamp, and said he ate so his pregnant fiancÚ wouldn't feel bad. He has plenty of time to get into shape, but he'll need to be in top form to hold off hungry RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams.

Footballguys view: So it wasn't the devil that made him do it, but instead devil's food cake? Williams needs to get in shape and prove that he's the best backup option behind LeSean McCoy. We love rookie RB Jonathan Williams, and he may end up being the better option...especially if Karlos Williams can't stay in shape and stay healthy.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor has high expectations    Tue Jun 21, 01:08 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor feels he will restore a winning tradition in Buffalo, and he feels he can do exactly what Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton did last season. 'I am 100 percent confident that I can do that. Cam played very well and willed his team. He took his team to the game that everyone who plays this game wants to get to. I commend him for that. We came in the same year so I definitely kept up with him. We became friends throughout our time in the league. Yes, I am 100 percent confident I can do the things that he did,' Taylor said.

Footballguys view: Taylor does not lack for confidence--or for skill as a passer and runner. He's super quick and fast when running the ball, but we loved what he showed as a passer. Taylor shows incredible deep touch when attacking a defense vertically. His rushing ability makes him an attractive fantasy option. He's a QB2 with the upside to rank as a top-15 fantasy QB in 2016...even in the Bills run-heavy offense.

Bills | IK Enemkpali has a big chance    Tue Jun 21, 01:08 AM

Buffalo Bills LB IK Enemkpali has worked with the first-team defense in offseason practice and he might push LB Manny Lawson for a starting job.

Footballguys view: Enemkpali is mainly known as the former Jets player who broke Geno Smith's jaw, but he may have a chance to rush the passer often for the Bills in 2016. During the team's recent minicamp, Enemkpali was getting by blockers with inside and outside pass-rush moves.

Bills | Sammy Watkins could be back for camp    Sun Jun 19, 08:44 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) expects to be ready when training camp begins July 30, but he said will be cautious when he returns to the field.

Footballguys view: More good news surrounding Watkins here. We have a feeling the Bills will be cautious with Watkins during camp and the preseason so the injury is not aggravated. At this early juncture, all signs point to Watkins being ready by Week 1 of the regular season. Now, if he could only stay healthy for a full season.

Bills | TE Blake Annen making his presence felt    Sun Jun 19, 06:10 PM

TE Blake Annen first joined the Bills on the practice squad late last season. Now the athletic tight end is pushing for a definitive role in Buffalo's offense according to BuffaloBills.com writer Andrew Kuczkowski.

Footballguys view: A former high school track star (and former college teammate of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce), Annen has speed that separates him from the group of TEs behind starter Charles Clay. Known as a coachable player with a strong work ethic, Annen is someone on our fantasy radar--but only in super deep dynasty leagues. He's competing with guys like Jim Dray, Nick O'Leary and Chris Gragg for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Bills | Rex Ryan praises Dezmin Lewis     Thu Jun 16, 02:41 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Dezmin Lewis caught the eye of head coach Rex Ryan during offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: A raw player with natural skills, Lewis needs to improve all aspects of his game before he can become a factor. It's good Ryan was impressed but we're not adding Lewis to our rosters.

Bills | Trio of Buffalo RBs see important reps    Wed Jun 15, 10:07 PM

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams saw the reps in practice Wednesday, June 15, with RBs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams sidelined. Williams was most impressive in the practice, showing surprising ability to shift direction and make defenders miss.

Footballguys view: The rookie Williams could be the guy who has the best chance to make an impact this year but he will need McCoy and Karlos Williams to stumble before he becomes fantasy relevant. For now, he's going as the 261st player off the board in drafts as RB77. If anything you can pick him up late but be prepared to let him go early in the season if you have to make room on your roster.

Bills | Seantrel Henderson needs to add weight    Wed Jun 15, 06:51 PM

Buffalo Bills OT Seantrel Henderson (illness) is in Buffalo but will need to add some weight before he will be able to practice again. OT Jordan Mills has been working at right tackle while Henderson has been sidelined.

Footballguys view: As sick as he was, this isn't a shock. Henderson had to go through two surgeries in his battle with Crohn's disease and it will take time to get back into shape. That said, we are excited for him and wish him the best of luck in getting back on the field.

Bills | Robert Woods has had solid offseason    Wed Jun 15, 04:36 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has performed well during offseason workouts, and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods has been impressive in his route running. He has been explosive off the line, quick in and out of breaks and acrobatic while going for passes in the air, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown.

Footballguys view: Aside from a fight at a recent practice, Woods has done what he needs to do to hold onto his job. That said, he needs to stay in control and he has to show consistency in an actual game. That explosion and the crisp breaks aren't there in games. Until we see they are, we're not interested in him as more than a WR6.

Bills | LeSean McCoy to be limited in camp    Wed Jun 15, 12:16 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) is expected to have his touches limited in training camp next month, according to running backs coach Anthony Lynn. McCoy also said not to expect McCoy in for more than one or two drives in preseason games.

Footballguys view: They'll be careful with him. We hate that he's already banged up but he's already on the mend so we're not really worried much. We see him as a solid RB2, but we do have concerns. Limiting his load in August should help allay those fears.

Bills | Karlos Williams to continue conditioning    Wed Jun 15, 05:03 AM

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams will continue to work with the strength and conditioning coaches at practice this week and another two or three weeks after minicamp ends. Head coach Rex Ryan said the team has a plan to get Williams closer to his playing weight, but they don't want him to lose a bunch of weight and suffers an injury in camp because of it.

Bills | LeSean McCoy does limited work    Wed Jun 15, 02:27 AM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) did not take part in team drills at practice Tuesday, June 14, he was able to take part in individual drills and beat writer Joe Buscaglia notes that it appeared McCoy was exploding through the drills quicker than he was last week. Originally the team said McCoy was dealing with a hamstring issue, but he has actually been bothered by an ankle injury.

Footballguys view: We're a little concerned he's banged up already, but are happy he looks to be healing quickly. McCoy looks like a high-end RB2 due to the sheer number of carries he could get in the offense as well as his ability. The rest of the offense could make things tough on him, as might the shaky offensive line, which keeps him from RB1 territory.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor impresses with accuracy    Wed Jun 15, 02:25 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was impressive with his accuracy in practice Tuesday, June 14, working the ball into the hands of his receivers with a very small window.

Footballguys view: Taylor is working hard, which is one of the reasons why the team is starting to talk extension again. That, and the struggles of the backups. Taylor should be a low-end QB2 or a solid QB3. With the amount of running this team might do, not all the staff is terribly comfortable with Taylor's potential production.

Bills | EJ Manuel has difficulty with deep ball    Wed Jun 15, 02:24 AM

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel continued to have problems hitting the deep targets in stride during practice Tuesday, June 14.

Footballguys view: Manuel has to be one of the worst picks in Buffalo Bills history. Maybe Buffalo history, if you include the Sabres, a hockey team we're pretty sure would have passed on Manuel in round one of the 2013 NFL draft. If Cardale Jones figures out the playbook, Manuel could be gone.

Bills | Cardale Jones appears hesitant in drills    Wed Jun 15, 02:23 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Cardale Jones appeared to be thinking too much on the field in practice Tuesday, June 14, according to beat writer Joe Buscaglia. He isn't trusting what he is seeing yet, and is hesitant to make a decision during team drills and 7-on-7 work.

Footballguys view: Jones appears to be as raw as we expected and the Bills are already starting to talk to Tyrod Taylor about an extension. Jones has the measurables but is too inconsistent, which is why he lost his job last season at Ohio State. We'd avoid the Buffalo quarterback situation anyway, but it looks right now that Jones is going to take some time to develop.

Bills | Kolby Listenbee taking baby steps    Wed Jun 15, 02:22 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Kolby Listenbee (hernia) is making his way back from a double sports hernia surgery. He was seeing more reps Tuesday, June 14, than he did during organized team activities (OTAs), although he hasn't progressed to team drills yet.

Footballguys view: There is a huge gap in depth behind Sammy Watkins, so Listenbee could very well have an impact, especially with Robert Woods getting into another fight Wednesday at practice. We don't have high hopes for the No 2 in this passing offense but Listenbee could end up a decent WR4 or WR5 if he gets the job.

Bills | Karlos Williams not masking injury    Wed Jun 15, 02:20 AM

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams said he isn't dealing with an injury, and he developed bad eating habits with his pregnant fiance this offseason. 'I like to eat and then her being pregnant gave me an excuse to eat, so eating anything and everything,' Williams said. 'She's getting back to working out herself, so kind of motivating each other, feed off each other's energy, and we're getting ready for camp.'

Footballguys view: Ah, the old "my pregnant wife made me eat badly" excuse. We've actually seen a fair amount of backs add on too much weight after the first year or two, so this isn't a surprise. However, with LeSean McCoy already nursing an injury, the Bills need Williams on point. He could be a solid RB2 if McCoy gets hurt, otherwise he will only contribute as an RB3. Unless the weight won't come off in which case he could slip behind rookie Jonathan Williams--a favorite RB of ours from this draft class.

Bills | Marcus Easley continues to progress    Wed Jun 15, 02:20 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Marcus Easley (knee) worked more with the training staff Tuesday, June 14. He worked on the far end of the field to rehab his knee injury in a series of strengthening exercises. It appeared as though he's progressing quite nicely.

Footballguys view: This is good as we were unsure he would make training camp. We're still not sure, but this points more towards a yes than previous reports had it. He's more of a returner than a receiver, but the Bills could use him to improve field position.

Bills | Leonard Hankerson shows well in drills    Wed Jun 15, 02:19 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Leonard Hankerson worked with the first-team offense, working with QB Tyrod Taylor Tuesday, June 14. He impressed in drills, and could gain the trust of Taylor going into the summer.

Footballguys view: Hankerson is another receiver who could steal the spotlight from Robert Woods as the No. 2. Unfortunately, Hankerson often shows well in shorts and t-shirts, then falls apart when the game is real. On top of that, this is a run-first offense. Passing will be relatively minimal. So we're not excited by him yet, but if he wins the job and plays well Hankerson could end up as a decent WR4.

Bills | Buffalo rotates linemen at nose tackle    Wed Jun 15, 02:17 AM

Buffalo Bills DLs Corbin Bryant, Marcell Dareus, Jerel Worthy and Justin Zimmer all saw time at nose tackle in the first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 14. The team has continued to cross-train their defensive linemen, using guys at nose tackle as well as at defensive end for some downs.

Footballguys view: Rob Ryan runs a defense with multiple fronts, so this isn't a shock. On the other hand, Rob Ryan has run multiple defenses into the ground, so you will excuse us if we aren't quite giddy.

Bills | Karlos Williams overweight    Tue Jun 14, 08:58 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams showed up overweight for organized team activities and minicamp this offseason. He'll need to shed some of that weight before the Bills are content with the shape he's in. Williams worked with strength and conditioning coach Eric Ciano following positional drills in the Bills' first practice of minicamp. Head coach Rex Ryan said Williams isn't close to where he needs to be to play at a high level.

Footballguys view: The Bills are jam-packed at the RB position, and if Williams is not careful he will lose the backup spot behind LeSean McCoy. We're excited about rookie RB Jonathan Williams (Arkansas), and we'll be monitoring him closely in the competition to establish a pecking order behind McCoy.

Bills | LeSean McCoy has ankle injury    Tue Jun 14, 05:15 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) is dealing with an ankle injury as opposed to a previously reported hamstring injury, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Footballguys view: Clarity is always a good thing. An ankle injury seems more severe than a hamstring injury...especially if it's a high-ankle sprain. However, this doesn't seem like something that's going to bother him during training camp. Fantasy owners know that McCoy can be an impact player--if healthy.

Bills | Four roster moves made    Mon Jun 13, 03:26 PM

Free-agents DE Leger Douzable (Jets) and OT Chris Martin (49ers) signed with the Buffalo Bills Monday, June 13. DE Claudell Louis and OT Keith Lumpkin were released.

Footballguys view: Douzable is a part-time player who can be a run-stuffer for the Bills. His spot on the 53-man roster is not guaranteed, but he's played under Rex Ryan before and knows what is expected of him.

Bills | Leger Douzable visiting    Mon Jun 13, 12:44 PM

Free-agent DE Leger Douzable (Jets) is visiting with the Buffalo Bills Monday, June 13, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Bills are looking for a veteran run-stuffer and Douzable could be it. Douzable played for coach Rex Ryan when they were with the New York Jets from 2013-14.

Bills | Stephon Gilmore to report to camp    Mon Jun 13, 10:07 AM

Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore is expected at minicamp this week after sitting out of organized team activities amid contract talks. He won't do much in camp, if anything at all, though.

Footballguys view: Gilmore is set to make $11 million in 2016, but he's a free agent next year. He skipped voluntary workouts in hopes of getting an extension from the team but to no avail. Gilmore is recovering from shoulder surgery, so he'll be quite limited now that mandatory mincamp has begun.

Bills | Olympics hurting Marquise Goodwin    Fri Jun 10, 09:27 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin's time away to train as a long jumper for the Summer Olympics is hurting his chances of making the roster, head coach Rex Ryan said.

Footballguys view: Goodwin's not a fantasy relevant player, and he's certainly no lock to make the 53-man roster.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor in charge of offense    Thu Jun 9, 09:23 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he feels more in command of the offense this year and has earned the trust of his teammates with the preparation he puts in.

Footballguys view: It's Taylor's second year in the offense, so it makes sense that he would be more comfortable. The run-heavy nature of the Bills offense is going to keep the numbers down for Taylor, but his rushing ability helps make him a better fantasy asset. We see him as a QB2 with upside in 2016. Taylor has a current ADP of QB19 (12.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor continues to impress    Thu Jun 9, 01:26 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was sharp again in 15-17 mph winds in practice Wednesday, June 8, and he's been more comfortable going through his reads this offseason. Buffalo also ran some read options during organized team activities.

Footballguys view: We like what we saw from Taylor last year but the bulk of the offense will trend towards running and aside from Sammy Watkins, Taylor doesn't have much to throw to. He's a low-end QB2 or a safe QB3.

Bills | Cardale Jones struggling so far    Thu Jun 9, 01:03 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Cardale Jones wasn't sharp during rookie camp, but the Bills coaches understand Jones is a project with great size and a rocket for an arm. It could be difficult for Jones to push QB EJ Manuel for the backup quarterback job in training camp as he tries to become familiar with the offense.

Footballguys view: Not surprisingly, given how raw he is. He may end up on the practice squad.

Bills | Dan Herron signs with Bills    Thu Jun 9, 09:43 AM

Free-agent RB Dan Herron (Colts) signed an undisclosed deal with the Buffalo Bills Thursday, June 9.

Footballguys view: While "Boom" Herron has been more of a "Bust" Herron so far in his career, he's good depth for the Bills to have on hand. LeSean McCoy is already nursing a minor injury, and we saw how quickly things went downhill last year once injuries hit. Don't draft Herron, but be aware of him if things go sideways in the Bills backfield again this season.

Bills | LeSean McCoy out for the week    Wed Jun 8, 07:40 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will sit out organized team activities this week with hamstring tightness, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) sat out of team drills Wednesday, June 8, with hamstring tightness. The ailment isn't considered serious.

Footballguys view: The Bills need to be cautious here. McCoy is a star RB in the league, but he's also known to get dinged up from time to time. They'll shut him down (or limit his reps) while he deals with this hamstring issue.

Bills | Cardale Jones signs deal    Tue Jun 7, 03:14 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Cardale Jones, the team's fourth-round draft choice, signed his four-year deal Tuesday, June 7. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Jones has a big arm and can keep plays alive with his feet. However, he's incredibly inconsistent and has several bad habits to clean up as a passer. Jones is a project, but he's got intriguing upside and that has us quite interested in him from a dynasty perspective.

Bills | Shaq Lawson signs    Mon Jun 6, 04:35 PM

Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson signed his four-year rookie contract Monday, June 6. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Lawson (shoulder) will likely start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. It is possible that he remains on the PUP list when the regular season begins too. When healthy, Lawson uses his strong punch after the snap to jar blockers back. He understands leverage and can win in the trenches to give the Bills some extra pass-rushing presence inside. The rookie is still recovering from shoulder surgery he had last month.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor sharp in red zone    Thu Jun 2, 10:02 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was sharp in red zone drills Wednesday, June 1, hitting TE Chris Gragg for a pair of touchdowns.

Footballguys view: Taylor looked great as a starter for the first time in his career last season with the Bills. He has a strong arm, uncanny deep touch and the ability to gash defenses as a runner. Taylor finished 2015 as the 17th-best fantasy QB in standard-scoring leagues. We feel he should finish as a low-end QB2 once again this year due to the nature of the run-heavy offense in Buffalo.

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (undisclosed) is expected to participate in organized team activities this week after he missed practices last week.

Footballguys view: We'd like to see a healthy Clay this year for the Bills. Last year in his first season in Buffalo, Clay had a disappointing season with 51 catches for 528 yards and three touchdowns in only 13 games. If healthy, Clay can do more and certainly could outperform his current ADP of TE19 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.
