Bills | Robert Woods leaves game    Sun Oct 26, 02:19 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (back) left the game early in Week 8 because of a back contusion and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Woods was off to a hot start against the decimated Jets secondary. Chris Hogan will have a chance to a be a hero if Woods stays on the sidelines.

Bills | Anthony Dixon starting    Sun Oct 26, 12:09 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon will start for the team Sunday, Oct. 26.

Footballguys view: Neither of Dixon or Brown is a great play against the Jets run defense, but their performances could give us a good clue who will be the better play in Week 10 after the Bills bye.

Bills | Sammy Watkins thriving with Kyle Orton    Sat Oct 25, 10:48 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is averaging 78.7 receiving yards per game in three games since QB Kyle Orton became the starter compared to 49.3 yards per game in the team's first four games.

Footballguys view: It's hard to bench Watkins today coming off of a huge game and matched up with the very weak Jets secondary. Look for the Orton-to-Watkins hookup to click early and often today.

Bills | Marcus Easley to work out before Week 8    Sat Oct 25, 12:33 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Marcus Easley (knee) will work out before the team's Week 8 game to see if he will be able to play, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Easley is listed as questionable because of a knee injury.

Footballguys view: Easley was once an interesting prospect in super deep dynasty leagues. Now, there's not much to see in any format because Easley struggles to stay healthy...and he's never played up to his potential.

Bills | Sammy Watkins practices    Thu Oct 23, 04:08 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Footballguys view: Sammy Watkins + Jets secondary = happy dancing Fantasy owners. We could see the rookie putting up almost 100 yards against these "cornerbacks" so get him in and expect WR1 value.

Bills | Fred Jackson does not practice    Thu Oct 23, 04:07 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Footballguys view: Jackson could return in Week 10 after the Bills Week 9 bye. If you have to put a Buffalo running back in the mix, then try Anthony Dixon as an RB3. The Jets defense hasn't been as good against the run as they were early on so Dixon could have some success.

Bills | Sammy Watkins fully practices    Wed Oct 22, 04:08 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (groin) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Bills | Anthony Dixon working with starters    Wed Oct 22, 01:53 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon is working with the starters in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. RB Bryce Brown is working with the second-string offense.

Footballguys view: Those rushing out to get Brown on the waiver wire may be chasing fool's gold. Sure, Brown is an incredibly talented runner, but he lacks discipline and tries to bounce too many runs outside. Dixon is more of a disciplined runner, and he should be the lead back while Fred Jackson is out.

Bills | Anthony Dixon likely the guy    Wed Oct 22, 10:26 AM

The Buffalo Bills love RB Anthony Dixon, and he's likely to lead the way at running back over RB Bryce Brown.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to realize this Bills RB situation will be split between two backs. Dixon is a power back with determination in the middle of the line. Brown is a more explosive player, but he lacks discipline as a runner and tries to bounce too many runs outside.

Bills | C.J. Spiller placed on short-term IR    Tue Oct 21, 02:10 PM

The Buffalo Bills placed RB C.J. Spiller (collarbone) on short-term Reserve/Injured Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: Spiller won't be eligible to return until Week 16. That's the fantasy championship week for most fantasy leagues out there, but he's a risky player to hold onto. We'll see the Bills move forward with Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown in some form of RBBC with Spiller out. Fred Jackson will also return at some point (before Spiller).

Bills | Phillip Tanner signing    Tue Oct 21, 01:02 PM

The Buffalo Bills are signing free-agent RB Phillip Tanner (Cowboys) Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: The Bills had sniffed around the league to find additional RB help. They make the move to add Tanner here, but there's little fantasy value from this transaction. While Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller are out, we'll see the team move forward with a RBBC featuring Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown.

Bills | C.J. Spiller undergoes surgery    Mon Oct 20, 02:57 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (collarbone) underwent surgery Monday, Oct. 20, to repair his broken collarbone. Head coach Doug Marrone said he will have to wait to hear from the doctors about a timetable.

Footballguys view: There's nothing official, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Spiller shut down for the year. He'll enter free agency next year coming off this collarbone injury. With his speed and big-play ability, there should be a few teams interested in the veteran back.

Bills | Fred Jackson hopes for quick return    Mon Oct 20, 01:32 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) said he hopes to be able to return from his injury quicker than expected four-week time frame.

Footballguys view: Without Jackson, we're going to see some form of combination between Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown. Fantasy owners should wait and see how this split develops while Jackson is out. Brown is more physically talented than Dixon, but it's Dixon who is more decisive as a runner.

Bills | Fred Jackson has slight tear    Mon Oct 20, 10:09 AM

Bills | Fred Jackson to sit in Week 8    Sun Oct 19, 09:14 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) had an MRI Sunday, Oct. 19, and he will be out at least two weeks due to the groin injury he suffered in the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings. The team has a bye in Week 9, so it is possible he returns in Week 10 and misses just one game.

Footballguys view: Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown will split the backfield work in a minus matchup against the Jets next week.

Bills | Fred Jackson to have further tests    Sun Oct 19, 06:54 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) will need further tests to determine the severity of the groin injury he suffered in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Doug Marrone said Sunday, Oct. 19.

Bills | C.J. Spiller to have surgery Monday    Sun Oct 19, 06:52 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (collarbone) will have surgery Monday, Oct. 20, to repair the broken collarbone he suffered in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Doug Marrone said Sunday, Oct. 19, that Spiller will be out 'an undetermined time.'

Footballguys view: Surgery indicates a displaced fracture, which will put Spiller on the long end of broken clavicle return timelines, and possibly jeopardize his season.

Bills | Bryce Brown could be activated    Sun Oct 19, 06:50 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown was inactive for the seventh time this season in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings. However, with injuries to RBs Fred Jackson (groin) and C.J. Spiller (collarbone), head coach Doug Marrone said Sunday, Oct. 19, that he would 'have no problem bringing up Bryce.'

Bills | Anthony Dixon pressed into duty    Sun Oct 19, 05:54 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon was pressed into duty in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings due to injuries to RBs Fred Jackson (groin) and C.J. Spiller (collarbone). Dixon finishes with 13 carries for 51 yards, and he added three receptions for 15 yards.

Footballguys view: Dixon will get a chance to make his mark next week, along with Bryce Brown, although they draw the tough Jets run defense. Both should be lower on your waiver priority list than Tre Mason or Denard Robinson.

Bills | Big day for Sammy Watkins    Sun Oct 19, 05:11 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins hauled in nine receptions for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: Watkins just needed a viable QB to show why the Bills traded up for him. After being stranded on Revis Island last week, Watkins created separation consistently and converted huge plays to help the Bills complete an unlikely comeback. He's a must-start against the Jets secondary next week.

Bills | Fred Jackson to undergo MRI    Sun Oct 19, 02:59 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his groin injury.

Footballguys view: This sounds like a multiweek injury because of how quickly Jackson was ruled out for the game. Look for Anthony Dixon or Bryce Brown to get the start next week at the Jets.

Bills | C.J. Spiller has broken collarbone    Sun Oct 19, 02:55 PM

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (collarbone) has been initially diagnosed with a broken collarbone.

Footballguys view: Spiller could return before the end of the season depending on the severity of the injury, but with his underperforming and the Bills sporadic usage of Spiller lately, he can be dropped in redraft leagues.

  Bills | C.J. Spiller undergoing X-rays    Sun Oct 19, 02:29 PM

Bills | Fred Jackson out for game    Sun Oct 19, 01:49 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 7 and will not return to the game.

Footballguys view: Jackson being declared out so early means that we are unlikely to see him against the Jets next week, and maybe not again for a while.

Bills | C.J. Spiller to see work    Sat Oct 18, 07:43 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller will continue to see touches in the offense, according to offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Footballguys view: In other words, Spiller is not benched, but he was certainly in the doghouse last week after taking a loss on his first carry inside hitting the hole because he tried to bounce the run outside. He is just a "what the heck flex" until Spiller proves he can be more.

The Buffalo Bills signed WR Travis Harvey (Giants) to the team's practice squad Friday, Oct. 17. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Bills | Friday injury report    Fri Oct 17, 01:10 PM

LS Garrison Sanborn (knee), S Da'Norris Searcy (knee), LB Brandon Spikes (ribs), DT Kyle D. Williams (knee) and S Aaron Williams (wrist, neck) are probable.   Bills | C.J. Spiller pressing    Fri Oct 17, 09:23 AM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller is pressing, which presents part of his problems right now, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Spiller is looking to hit the proverbial home run with every play.

Footballguys view: Spiller is not taking the easy yards inside and breaking too many runs outside. He looks uncomfortable on runs between the tackles, with jittery and impatient body language. The Bills don't seem willing to give him more runs outside or in spread formations. This could be a case of Spiller being a fantasy non-entity until 2015 on a new team.

Bills | Sammy Watkins improving each week    Fri Oct 17, 08:50 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is getting better each week, according to head coach Doug Marrone. The team made a concerted effort to get him the ball in the second half of the Week 6 game. Watkins was shut out in the first half and finished with three catches for 27 yards.

Footballguys view: Darrelle Revis was the reason for the meager stat line last week. Expect a much better against against the inconsistent Saints secondary.

Bills | Garrison Sanborn hampered by injury    Fri Oct 17, 06:27 AM

Buffalo Bills LB Garrison Sanborn (knee), who is also the team's long snapper, has been limited by a knee injury in practice this week. As a precaution, the club brought in free-agent LS Charley Hughlett (Patriots) and LS Kevin McDermott (Broncos) for workouts.

Bills | Bryce Brown not in immediate plans    Thu Oct 16, 04:44 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown expected to be used a lot more than he has been when he was traded to the team in the offseason, and head coach Doug Marrone has no urgency to get him on the field anytime soon. 'He's here for a while. I'm not concerned about (getting him on the field soon),' Marrone said. Brown remains on the scout team in practice.

Footballguys view: If you can get Brown cheap in dynasty, this might be the time as next year could be his chance. Fred Jackson signed an extension earlier this year, but C.J. Spiller is in the final year of his contract.

Bills | C.J. Spiller saying the right stuff    Thu Oct 16, 09:25 AM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller said he's not worried at all about playing just 12 snaps in Week 6. 'I always said you take advantage when you're in there, do everything you possibly can to make plays for your team,' Spiller said. 'So I'm not caught up in how many snaps I get. Obviously you want to play more, but certain things happen throughout the game, and you have to go to different packages. I'm not concerned.'

Footballguys view: He's not worried but his owners have to be disappointed. Once again, Fred Jackson (left for done by many owners) and an inept offense has hurt his numbers. Even with Kyle "Hipster Neckbeard" Orton in charge, it hasn't been great in Buffalo. Jackson remains a low-end RB2 and Spiller is an untrustworthy RB4.

  Bills | C.J. Spiller doesn't play much    Mon Oct 13, 03:12 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller saw just 12 snaps in Week 6, the fewest he's had since 2012.

Footballguys view: Spiller's role is trending down with the Bills. The way they're using him is not working, and he's not performing up to expectations. Fantasy owners need to bench Spiller--maybe even dump Spiller in shallower leagues.

Bills | Scott Chandler a focus    Mon Oct 13, 10:36 AM

Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler was a focal point of the offensive gameplan in Week 6 Sunday, Oct. 12, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Chandler had six catches for 105 yards.

Footballguys view: Chandler has some fantasy value so long as Kyle Orton is the quarterback. Pick him up in deeper leagues.
