Bills | LeSean McCoy limited Thursday Thu May 24, 03:04 PM
Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (illness) was limited during organized team activities Thursday, May 24, because of an illness.
|Footballguys view: This is nothing that should impact his season naturally considering how early on it is. McCoy is likely to be one of the top fantasy backs in football again this year, since the Bills are likely to be running an awful lot with either an inexperienced or rookie quarterback under center.|

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin full go at OTAs Thu May 24, 01:03 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) is a full participant and off to a good start at organized team activities, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: The team needs him on point with Zay Jones (knee) out for the summer. There's not a lot of value in this offense (not named LeSean McCoy), especially with the questionable quarterback group, but Benjamin could be the one bright spot in the passing offense.|

Bills | Two QBs splitting Bills' reps Thu May 24, 11:10 AM
Buffalo Bills QBs AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman are splitting repetitions with the first-team offense, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: McCarron was signed to be a 'bridge' quarterback for the Bills. He's wanted to be a starter for some time, but McCarron just sat behind Andy Dalton with the Bengals. Peterman was turnover prone (that's being nice) for the Bills last year as a rookie, and he shouldn't be much of a threat for the starting job. We all know that Josh Allen, 2018 first-round pick out of Wyoming, is set to be the quarterback of the future when he develops.|

Bills | Josh Allen running with threes Thu May 24, 11:09 AM
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is running with the third-team offense, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: He's going to take time to develop, as Allen needs to improve his accuracy and anticipation as a passer. He's the quarterback of the future, but the team isn't going to rush him into the lineup. At this point in the process, the third team is where he should be.|
Bills | Zay Jones has surgery Thu May 24, 10:46 AM
Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones (knee) had knee surgery Thursday, May 24, and will miss the remainder of the offseason program.
|Footballguys view: That's not great, especially with new quarterbacks he needs to get used to. The team better hope Kelvin Benjamin steps up this year because there is precious little there to work with, for either A.J. McCarron or Josh Allen.|

Bills | Jeremy Kerley top option for slot Mon May 21, 12:23 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Jeremy Kerley will enter offseason workouts as the leading candidate for the slot receiver job but will compete with WRs Ray-Ray McCloud and Austin Proehl for the job.
|Footballguys view: That was to be expected when Kerley signed with the Bills in mid-April. He'll compete to be the team's slot receiver while also contributing as a return man. There's not much fantasy value for the slot receiver (no matter who wins the job) in Buffalo.|

Bills | Russell Shepard will visit Bills Tue May 15, 06:51 PM
Free-agent WR Russell Shepard (Panthers) has a visit scheduled with the Buffalo Bills this week.
|Footballguys view: Shepard obviously has connections to Bills head coach Sean McDermott from their days in Carolina. He's got incredible athleticism but has never really played up to his potential as a wide receiver. Shepard could help on special teams too if the Bills sign him.|
Russell Shepard player page
Bills | Ryan Russell to meet with Buffalo Tue May 15, 01:32 PM
Free-agent DE Ryan Russell (Buccaneers) is scheduled to visit with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, May 16.
|Footballguys view: A fifth-round pick (Purdue) for the Cowboys back in 2015, Russell was not tendered as a restricted free agent by the Buccaneers. At 6'4" 269 pounds, Russell has the physical tools but has always been a bit of a career underachiever...even dating back to his college days for the Boilermakers.|
Bills | Zach Olstad joins Bills Mon May 14, 12:34 PM

Bills | Buffalo signs Tremaine Edmunds Sat May 12, 12:26 PM
Buffalo Bills first-round draft choice LB Tremaine Edmunds signed a four-year contract with the Bills Saturday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
|Footballguys view: Edmunds is a freak, and we mean that as the highest compliment. His physical gifts are off the charts, and he's drawn comparisons to Jevon Kearse because of it. He just turned 20 years old earlier this month, and Edmunds has all the upside you can dream of. Edmunds has length, speed, strength and athleticism to dominate at the linebacker position. If he develops, the Bills have a special player with the ability to be the best in the game.|
Bills | Buffalo signs several UDFAs Fri May 11, 04:36 PM
Undrafted free-agent PK Tyler Davis (Penn State), RB Keith Ford (Texas A&M) and WR Cam Phillips (Virginia Tech) signed three-year deals with the Buffalo Bills Friday, May 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Ford is an interesting PFA we'll be monitoring in super deep dynasty leagues. Originally an Oklahoma Sooner, Ford transferred to Texas A&M and played for the Aggies over the last two years. He's a hard-charging running back who doesn't mind dealing out punishment with his pads. Ford is not overly elusive, and his vision leaves something to be desired but he can grind if called upon.|
Bills | Taron Johnson signs rookie deal Fri May 11, 10:09 AM

Bills | Bills sign four rookies to deals Thu May 10, 08:02 PM
Buffalo Bills SS Siran Neal, WRs Ray-Ray McCloud, Austin Proehl and OG Wyatt Teller signed their four-year rookie contracts on Thursday, May 10.
|Footballguys view: McCloud, Proehl and Teller could see some work this year as the Bills are thin on the line and shaky at wide receiver in terms of depth.|
Bills | Kenjon Barner visiting Bills Tue May 8, 11:30 AM
Free-agent RB Kenjon Barner (Eagles) is visiting the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, May 8, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Barner is a speedy change-of-pace back who could give the Bills some depth at the position. If added, Barner would compete for a spot on the depth chart behind starter LeSean McCoy with Chris Ivory likely serving as the second-string back.|

Bills | Tremaine Edmunds likely will start Mon May 7, 04:44 PM
Buffalo Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds likely will be the starting middle linebacker this upcoming season.
|Footballguys view: That is a great move for the Bills. Edmunds is a physical freak with the upside to be one of the best in the league at his position. General manager Brandon Beane said he has been impressed with Edmunds' maturity even though he is only 20 years old.|

Bills | Kelvin Benjamin talks on hold Mon Apr 30, 10:33 AM
Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin won't have contract talks on an extension until at least the summer, according to general manager Brandon Beane.
|Footballguys view: The Bills have to see how Benjamin fits into the new offense. Benjamin also needs to show them he will have the ability to stay healthy and make a larger impact in 2018.|

Bills | Buffalo will not rush Josh Allen Sun Apr 29, 04:52 PM
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will not be rushed but will start as a rookie if he wins the starting job during training camp, according to general manager Brandon Beane.
|Footballguys view: Allen has a lot of physical advantages over AJ McCarron, and both will be learning Brian Daboll's offense for the first time. With an underwhelming group of receivers and three new starters on the line, it won't be wise to expect much from the Bills quarterback, whoever it is.|
Bills | Austin Proehl to work in slot Sun Apr 29, 04:47 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Austin Proehl will be used as a slot receiver, according to general manager Brandon Beane.
|Footballguys view: Proehl shares the Panthers bloodline with Sean McDermott, as the Bills head coach worked with his dad. He was a nondescript prospect at North Carolina before breaking his collarbone. He has an uphill battle to make the team even with a bottom-end receiver group on the depth chart.|
Bills | Siran Neal likely to be safety Sun Apr 29, 04:41 PM
Buffalo Bills S Siran Neal likely will be used as a safety for the Bills even though he also played linebacker and cornerback during college, according to general manager Brandon Beane.Link to story
Bills | Robert Foster signing with Buffalo Sun Apr 29, 10:41 AM
Undrafted free-agent WR Robert Foster (Alabama) reportedly agreed to terms with the Buffalo Bills Saturday, April 28.
|Footballguys view: Foster was underused at Alabama, and he has speed that will translate in the NFL. He could make the team with a weak wide receiver corps ahead of him on the depth chart.|
Bills | Buffalo not pursuing Dez Bryant Sun Apr 29, 12:18 AM
Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) won't be pursued by the Buffalo Bills, according to general manager Brandon Beane. 'If we thought that was the right fit for us, we definitely would potentially pursue it,' Beane said.
|Footballguys view: It's hard to figure out exactly who is going to target Bryant in free agency now. He's probably not going to get the money he is looking, even on a one-year deal. Bryant's fantasy value continues to slide.|

Bills | Wyatt Teller to work at OG Sat Apr 28, 08:20 PM
Buffalo Bills OG Wyatt Teller will initially be used at guard but does have experience at tackle, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: The Bills can use that versatility on the bench with new starters this year. Teller was a strong third day pick for a team that neglected the offensive line on the first and second day.|
Bills | Taron Johnson to be used in slot Sat Apr 28, 08:10 PM
Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Taron Johnson will line up at nickel back during the team's upcoming minicamp, according to head coach Sean McDermott.Link to story
Bills | Austin Proehl goes to Buffalo Sat Apr 28, 06:51 PM
The Buffalo Bills picked North Carolina WR Austin Proehl with the 255th overall selection (Round 7) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: The Bills continue to try and put more weapons around their new quarterbacks, this time with a small but quick receiver who plays faster than he times. Proehl is coming off a season shortened by a broken clavicle, and his size and durability are big concerns.|
Bills | Ray-Ray McCloud headed to Buffalo Sat Apr 28, 04:16 PM
The Buffalo Bills picked Clemson WR Ray-Ray McCloud with the 187th overall pick (Round 6) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: McCloud doesn't have prototypical size, but he's notched more than his fair share of big plays at Clemson. He's got experience as a running back (though chiefly in high school), a receiver and even a defensive back. Where he fits is a bit of a head-scratcher at 5-9, 190 pounds, but the Bills may see him as a gadget-type player who can perform on special teams.|
Bills | Taron Johnson may be nickel back Sat Apr 28, 02:08 PM
Buffalo Bills CB Taron Johnson said he expects the Bills to use him at nickel back as a rookie.Link to story
Bills | Buffalo selects Tremaine Edmunds Thu Apr 26, 09:50 PM
The Buffalo Bills selected Virginia Tech LB Tremaine Edmunds with the 16th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday, April 26.
|Footballguys view: Edmunds has fantastic speed, great size and plenty of explosiveness. He can even get bigger and stronger in the NFL. His athleticism can help him survive while he overcomes his more mental hiccups. He can fit in the middle linebacker eventually, which the Bills need.|
Bills | Josh Allen joins Buffalo Thu Apr 26, 08:57 PM
The Buffalo Bills selected Wyoming QB Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday, April 26.
|Footballguys view: His strong arm will cut through the Buffalo wind, but he's got little to throw to and has lost two offensive linemen. AJ McCarron had better be good enough to carry the team for a year because this is a not an ideal situation for a guy who has been one of the most divisive quarterback prospects this year.|
Bills | Buffalo unlikely to trade with Giants Mon Apr 23, 05:27 PM
Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is not expected to trade up to the No. 2 spot in the NFL draft with the New York Giants, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
|Footballguys view: The price tag for No.2 overall has been deemed too high. Not only do we hear that from the Buffalo side, but the Jets reportedly didn't like that price tag so they moved up to No.3 overall instead. Buffalo is more likely to trade up at pick five or six if they like a quarterback that is still available.|

Bills | Zay Jones on good terms with Buffalo Mon Apr 16, 03:19 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones is in a satisfactory position within the Bill's organization, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
|Footballguys view: That's good news for the second-year pro, but he's got to keep his nose clean from here on out. Both sides agreed they need to move on from Jones' off-field incident and subsequent arrest.|

Bills | Buffalo to trade up for Baker Mayfield? Sat Apr 14, 09:22 PM
The Buffalo Bills will have to trade up if they want to select Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, according to an NFL scout. 'If the Bills want him, they're going to have to come up to get him,' the scout said. 'I'll betcha he goes top five and I wouldn't be surprised if it is before some of those other guys.'
|Footballguys view: The Bills added A.J. McCarron in free agency, but he's no answer for a long-term starter in Buffalo. Mayfield is capable of starting right away if the team is willing to craft the offense around him. The Heisman Trophy winner in 2017 has the attitude of a star but he'll need to prove himself once again when he gets to the pro level. Mayfield is accurate on short and intermediate throws. He's a timing thrower who wasn't asked to make complex reads of make 'stick' (tight window) throws in college.|
