Bills | Terrance West to visit    Fri Apr 18, 03:09 AM

Towson RB Terrance West has a visit scheduled next week with the Buffalo Bills, according to sources. He is also scheduled to visit the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons.

Footballguys view: West is a big back who can run in the 4.5s. The Bills have an interest in adding another running back to the mix even though they already have C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

The Buffalo Bills have shown interest in Syracuse CB Keon Lyn.

Bills | Interested in Chris Johnson    Tue Apr 15, 12:14 PM

The Buffalo Bills have shown some interest in signing free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Titans), according to sources.

Footballguys view: The interest in Johnson has always been a curious proposition with the Bills. We've heard they were interested, but we've also heard they didn't really have interest. Adding Johnson would be a curious move because they already have a similar back in C.J. Spiller. Behind Spiller, the Bills have savvy veteran Fred Jackson. Nobody really looks at the Bills and thinks "What they really need is a running back."

The Buffalo Bills made a contract offer to Pittsburgh Steelers LB Arthur Moats this offseason, but he decided to sign with the Steelers.

Bills | Dustin Hopkins facing uphill battle    Fri Apr 11, 07:38 PM

Buffalo Bills PK Dustin Hopkins likely will need an outstanding training camp in order to win the kicker job over PK Dan Carpenter. Head coach Doug Marrone is not opposed to keeping two kickers on the roster, but it would be a luxury the team may not be able to afford.

Bills | Visit with Austin Seferian-Jenkins     Fri Apr 11, 02:04 PM

The Buffalo Bills are visiting with Washington TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins Friday, April 11.

Footballguys view: The Bills are looking for an upgrade at the tight end position. Seferian-Jenkins has arguably the highest upside of any tight end in this draft class. However, injuries and inconsistencies have held him back as a collegian. If healthy and motivated, Seferian-Jenkins could provide nice value as a second-round pick.

Bills | Visit with Carlos Hyde     Fri Apr 11, 02:04 PM

The Buffalo Bills are visiting with Ohio State RB Carlos Hyde Friday, April 11.

Footballguys view: Even though they have C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, the Bills are still looking for additional help at the running back position. Hyde is a big back who is a fine receiver out of the backfield. He's a safe runner, but is a bit robotic with his movement and does not have elite upside.

The Buffalo Bills are visiting with Rice CB Phillip Gaines Thursday, April 10.

Bills | Odell Beckham visits    Thu Apr 10, 02:52 PM

The Buffalo Bills are visiting with Louisiana State WR Odell Beckham Thursday, April 10.

Footballguys view: It's unlikely that the Bills would take Beckham with a top ten pick, since they just acquired Mike Williams and already have Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin. It's pretty unlikely that Beckham will be around in the second round as well. Still the Bills may be looking beyond the end of Johnson's contract or not be sold that Mike Williams can regain his groove. Beckham would be a nice target for Manuel, though he can be a tad inconsistent at times.

Bills | Sign Jarius Wynn    Tue Apr 8, 01:59 PM

Updating a previous report, the Buffalo Bills signed DE Jarius Wynn (Cowboys) Tuesday, April 8. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Bills get some veteran depth here on the defensive line, and that's about it. Wynn has only 8.5 sacks over his six-year pro career.

Bills | Jake Matthews visiting    Tue Apr 8, 12:41 PM

The Buffalo Bills are scheduled to have dinner with Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews Tuesday, April 8.

Footballguys view: Matthews is considered one of the best offensive tackles in this class--if not the best. He has the ability to shadow edge rushers because of his quick footwork. Matthews also has the strength and nasty attitude to be a great asset as a run-blocker. He's unlikely to be on the board when the Bills select at 9th overall.

Bills | Will meet with Jake Matthews    Mon Apr 7, 05:52 PM

The Buffalo Bills will meet with Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews Tuesday, April 8.

Footballguys view: We'd be shocked if Matthews lasted until the Bills' 9th overall pick. He's arguably the best offensive tackle in this draft, and Matthews should be a top 5 pick.

Bills | Not going for top QB    Mon Apr 7, 02:41 AM

The Buffalo Bills are likely to pass on any of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, suggesting the team is 'all in' on QB EJ Manuel for his second season.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. The Bills are locked in to Manuel as their starter. They'll continue to add weapons around Manuel this offseason.

Bills | Have not had interest in Chris Johnson    Sun Apr 6, 08:54 PM

The Buffalo Bills were not interested in acquiring free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Titans) when the Tennessee Titans called them to try to trade Johnson.

Footballguys view: The fit with the Bills was always a curious one. They already have a jam-packed backfield with both C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

Bills | Had interest in trading for Chris Johnson    Fri Apr 4, 08:11 PM

The Buffalo Bills were interested in trading for free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Titans) before he was released by the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: The Bills already have quality talent at the running back position in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Adding Johnson would give them another weapon in the backfield, and more talent around young quarterback E.J. Manuel.

Bills | Stevie Johnson could be moved    Fri Apr 4, 07:42 PM

The Buffalo Bills could consider moving WR Stevie Johnson this offseason since the team acquired WR Mike Williams but that options seems unlikely at this point. Johnson is scheduled to have a $8.5 million salary cap figure in 2014.

Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Johnson has an $8.5 million cap number this year and there is $10.2 million left in dead money. He's too expensive to release without taking a big cap hit, and he might be too expensive to trade.

Bills | Eric Ebron expected to be option    Fri Apr 4, 07:41 PM

The Buffalo Bills are expected to consider North Carolina TE Eric Ebron in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The Bills traded for WR Mike Williams, but adding another weapon in the passing game makes sense. They currently have the 9th overall pick, and Ebron would be a good fit there. He's the best TE in this draft class, and he has the speed to stretch the deep middle seam of a defense.

Bills | Jeremy Hill visits    Fri Apr 4, 02:15 PM

The Buffalo Bills hosted LSU RB Jeremy Hill for a visit Friday, April 4.

Footballguys view: The Bills are looking for running back help, and the draft will be full of a different variety of runners. Hill is one of the few in this class with star potential. He's big, physical and has enough speed to get to the edge at the second level. Hill is likely a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Bills | Scott Crichton visits    Fri Apr 4, 02:14 PM

The Buffalo Bills hosted Oregon State DE Scott Crichton for a visit Friday, April 4.

Bills | Eric Ebron visits    Fri Apr 4, 02:13 PM

The Buffalo Bills hosted North Carolina TE Eric Ebron for a visit Friday, April 4.

Footballguys view: Now that the Bills have traded for WR Mike Williams, they are unlikely to select that position in the first round of the draft. A tight end might be on their radar with an early pick. Ebron is considered the best tight end in this draft class. He's a mismatch every time he lines up on the field because of his speed and run-after-the-catch ability.

Bills | T.J. Graham on roster bubble    Fri Apr 4, 01:21 PM

Buffalo Bills WR T.J. Graham is firmly on the roster bubble after the team traded for WR Mike Williams. Graham started in only six games last year and is more of a one-dimensional player due to his speed.

Footballguys view: Graham's speed would make him an intriguing addition if Buffalo lets him go. He's never developed his route-running as a pro, but he's still young enough for some team to take a chance on him. By adding Williams the Bills are now likely out of the market for a wide receiver early in the draft. Tear up any mock drafts that have them selecting Mike Evans (Texas A&M) and Sammy Watkins (Clemson) with the ninth-overall pick.

Bills | Trade for Mike Williams    Fri Apr 4, 11:51 AM

The Buffalo Bills acquired WR Mike Williams from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, April 4, in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick, according to a league source. Williams suffered injuries last year that left him with only 22 catches (a career low) for 216 yards in six games.

Footballguys view: Williams reunites with his college coach Doug Marrone, and gets to go back to his hometown of Buffalo. He'll compete with Robert Woods and Stevie Johnson for targets in the Bills offense. Williams needed a fresh start after wearing out his welcome in Tampa. This addition puts another weapon around young quarterback E.J. Manuel.

Bills | Meet with Troy Niklas    Wed Apr 2, 01:52 PM

The Buffalo Bills met with Notre Dame TE Troy Niklas Tuesday, April 1.

Footballguys view: Niklas is not a move tight end. Instead, he's a traditional in-line tight end who can catch and block. Niklas has soft hands, but he lacks the speed to stretch the middle of the field. He's currently seen as a second-round pick.

Bills | Two draft prospects visiting    Wed Apr 2, 12:12 PM

The Buffalo Bills will be meeting with Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier and Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk Wednesday, April 2.

Footballguys view: Weighing in at 225 pounds, Shazier is a bit undersized to play inside linebacker and is best fit as a pass-rusher on the outside. He can cover, and Shazier has a nose for the football. These assets make him a late first- or early second-round pick. Seastrunk could thrive in a one-cut system where his rushing lanes (or cutback lanes) are clear. He has great speed, but lacks vision. Seastrunk is also unproven as a receiver out of the backfield, having hauled in only nine receptions during his college career. He's considered a third- or fourth-round pick.

Bills | Cody Latimer to visit    Tue Apr 1, 12:10 PM

The Buffalo Bills will visit with Indiana WR Cody Latimer Tuesday, April 1.

Footballguys view: At this time, Latimer is seen as a fifth-round pick. He's a big receiver (6'3" 215 pounds) who plucks the ball consistently away from his body. Latimer knows how to use his frame to keep defenders away from the ball, and he has the ability to consistently adjust to poorly thrown passes. He rounds out his routes, lacks a second gear in the open field and does have concentration problems which lead to drops.

The Buffalo Bills attended the pro day of Central Arkansas SS Jestin Love's pro day Monday, March 31. Love had a 38-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-3 broad jump and put up 22 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

Bills | Serious suitor for DeSean Jackson    Sun Mar 30, 11:29 AM

The Buffalo Bills are a serious suitor for free-agent WR DeSean Jackson (Eagles).

Footballguys view: The Bills could certainly use more weapons in the passing game for second-year QB E.J. Manuel. If added, Jackson will help stretch the field vertically. He'd likely be the lead receiver with Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods as the second and third targets.

Bills | Will not get in bidding war for DeSean Jackson    Sat Mar 29, 01:07 PM

Updating a previous report, the Buffalo Bills are interested in free-agent WR DeSean Jackson (Eagles) at a certain price but will not get into a bidding war for him.

Footballguys view: This sounds like a lot of teams. The interest in Jackson is there now that he's on the open market, but teams want to be cautious with what they spend on the veteran receiver. Almost 10 teams have expressed interest in Jackson so far.

Bills | DeSean Jackson an option    Sat Mar 29, 12:27 PM

The Buffalo Bills have expressed interest in free-agent WR DeSean Jackson (Eagles).

Footballguys view: The Bills would be best served to put better weapons around QB E.J. Manuel. Jackson would give them speed that Robert Woods or Stevie Johnson don't have. Adding Jackson might stunt the growth of Marquise Goodwin, as they both have similar skill sets.

Bills | C.J. Spiller says ankle feels good    Wed Mar 26, 03:20 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (ankle) said his ankle has responded well since the offseason began and has been able to plant his foot and make cuts. Spiller dealt with a high ankle sprain during most of the 2013 season.

Bills | EJ Manuel, C.J. Spiller working out    Wed Mar 26, 03:10 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller said he is working out with QB EJ Manuel in California this week. Spiller said they have been working on improving their timing.

Footballguys view: Spiller getting more involved in the passing game will help his fantasy stock because it gets his rare acceleration and quickness into play more often than runs between the tackles.

Bills | Scott Chandler contract update    Sat Mar 22, 11:33 AM

Bills | Lache Seastrunk to visit    Fri Mar 21, 07:37 PM

Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk said he is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills before the 2014 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is likely a third- or fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft. He can help a team as a change-of-pace back, but lacks the vision and intent to be a full-time back.

Bills | To visit with Kenny Britt    Fri Mar 21, 12:19 PM

The Buffalo Bills will host a visit for free-agent WR Kenny Britt (Titans), according to a source.

Footballguys view: Britt needed a change of scenery. The Bills could use more weapons in the passing game to help young quarterback E.J. Manuel.
