Bills | Zay Jones can play in slot    Sun Feb 17, 04:52 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones has the ability to be a slot receiver and played the position during his college career, in the opinion of BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown.

Footballguys view: Jones finished the year with 56 catches and 25 of those came from the slot. He ranked 42nd in the league in 2018 with 316 receiving yards from the slot position. Jones can do that and in fact could be a consistent chain-mover for the Bills offense in that role. We'll see what the Bills have in store for Jones in 2019.

Bills | Charles Clay let go    Fri Feb 15, 04:07 PM

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay was released Friday, Feb. 15.

Footballguys view: No surprise here and injuries have slowed Clay over the last few years. He hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2013 and Clay only had 21 catches for the Bills in 2018 over 13 games. This might be the end of the road for the 2011 sixth-round pick out of Tulsa.

Bills | Buffalo could move down in draft    Sat Feb 9, 09:14 PM

The Buffalo Bills own the No. 9 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but general manager Brandon Beane said during Senior Bowl week that he doesn't believe the Bills have to make a selection in the top 10.

Footballguys view: Let the maneuvering begin! The Bills have their quarterback, but teams in need of a young potential franchise quarterback may trade with them for that spot. The Bills are right in front of the Broncos (no.10) and everyone knows they're in dire need of a franchise quarterback. Any team interested in guys like Drew Lock (Missouri) or Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) may want to leapfrog the Broncos.

Bills | Buffalo could target veteran pass catchers    Fri Feb 8, 01:24 AM

The Buffalo Bills may be interested in signing someone like Philadelphia Eagles WR Golden Tate, Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley or Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook in free agency, in the opinion of Forbes' Curtis Rush.

Footballguys view: The Bills have a young group of receivers, led by Zay Jones and Robert Foster. Perhaps adding some veteran depth to that room would help. They could also use a veteran tight end, perhaps like Cook, since Charles Clay isn't getting any younger.

Bills | LeSean McCoy remains confident    Wed Jan 23, 03:00 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy believes he and the Bills will bounce back after a personally and collectively trying season. McCoy had his worst season as a professional football player, he was the subject of accusation in an alleged domestic incident and he was benched in Week 16.

Footballguys view: McCoy can remain confident but Fantasy GMs have their confidence shaken. We'll see what the Bills want to do with McCoy but as his season-ending press conference Bills GM Brandon Beane said McCoy would return for the final year of his contract in 2019. McCoy has a cap hit of $9.05 million in 2019 with $2.6 million remaining in dead money.

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones had five of his seven touchdowns over the final five games of 2018, and he topped 60 yards three times in that span after topping 60 yards just twice through the first 11 games.

Footballguys view: Jones had three touchdowns over the last two weeks of the 2018 season. He seemed to establish better chemistry with QB Josh Allen as the year went on. We'll see if Jones can carry that over into 2019.

Buffalo Bills LB Lorenzo Alexander signed a one-year contract extension Wednesday, Jan. 16. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Alexander has had a remarkable (and unexpected by most) surge to his career over the last three seasons with the Bills. At age 35, Alexander finished his 2018 season with 55 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks and two interceptions. So long as he stays healthy, Alexander is a fine asset for the Bills defense and special teams.

Bills | Robert Foster in rare air as a rookie    Tue Jan 15, 01:43 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Foster led the NFL with 20 yards per catch (minimum 25 receptions) and is one of only four players since 2015 to record three 100-yard receiving games in their rookie season.

Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Alabama in 2018, Foster took some time before he made an impact. It was Week 10 of the 2018 season when Foster burst onto the scene with a three-catch, 105-yard performance. He is a big play target who finished his rookie season with 27 catches for 541 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Bills | Tremaine Edmunds has room to grow    Fri Jan 11, 10:27 PM

Buffalo Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds's 121 tackles and seven quarterback hits were the second most in franchise history for a rookie, and he said he is still learning to trust his instincts. 'I'm still building each week to try to get to that point where I can just play free all around,' Edmunds said. 'As I continue to grow and develop, that'll come.'

Footballguys view: Edmunds compiled good stats as a rookie in 2018 but his play was a bit average at times. His upside is through the roof so when he is finished developing as a pro, Edmunds could be one of the best in the league at his position.

Bills | Charles Clay likely a goner    Wed Jan 9, 09:06 PM

Buallo Bills TE Charles Clay, who has one year to go on his five-year, $38 million contract, 'almost surely' will be gone from the team when the 2019 league year begins in March.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Clay is a talented player but he has struggled with injuries for years. He carries a cap hit of $9 million, which would be sixth among tight ends next season, but if he were to be cut, that number would be cut in half, with the Bills saving $4.5 million in both real cash and cap space.

Bills | Buffalo adds Duke Williams    Mon Jan 7, 03:15 PM

Free-agent WR Duke Williams (CFL) signed an undisclosed deal with the Buffalo Bills Monday, Jan. 7. Williams led the Canadian Football League with 1,579 receiving yards in 2018.

Footballguys view: With the Edminton Eskimos this year (in 18 games), Williams posted 88 receptions for almost 1,600 yards (1,579) and 11 touchdowns. He measures in at 6'3" 225 pounds and can clearly handle a lot of targets. We'll monitor him in super deep dynasty leagues. Williams was undrafted out of Auburn in 2016 and spent a little bit of time with the Los Angeles Rams.

Bills | D'haquille Williams signed by Buffalo    Sun Jan 6, 07:34 PM

The Buffalo Bills signed free-agent RB D'haquille Williams (CFL) to a reserve/futures contract on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Footballguys view: It's an interesting name to monitor in crazy deep dynasty formats. Williams spent the past two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos and he led the CFL last season with 1,579 yards while tying the league lead with 11 touchdowns. He was fourth in the league with 88 grabs and third with 152 targets.

Bills | Robert Foster came on strong    Sat Jan 5, 10:13 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Foster had 511 of his 541 receiving yards in his final seven games, topping 90 yards four times in that stretch.

Footballguys view: Foster was a big part of the Bills passing game as the season went on, and he was one of the best big play wide receivers in the league. Undrafted out of Alabama in 2018, Foster has a good connection with QB Josh Allen and we're excited to see how his development continues. Foster will have new (hopefully upgraded) pass catching weapons around him in 2019 but he showed enough to be someone to consider late in drafts this summer.

Bills | Josh Allen joined exclusive group in 2018    Fri Jan 4, 01:26 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen led his team with 2,074 passing yards and 631 rushing yards in 2018, becoming only the fourth quarterback since 2000 to lead his team in both categories.

Footballguys view: Allen will be a hotly debated fantasy player in drafts with one of the highest ceilings and lowest floors at the position, but lots of room to grow.

Bills | LeSean McCoy staying put    Mon Dec 31, 03:51 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy will return to the Bills for the final year of his contract in 2019, according to general manager Brandon Beane.

Footballguys view: McCoy is not the same player he used to be, as evidenced by his career low 3.2 yards per carry average in 2018. When healthy, McCoy might still have something left in the tank. He's on the books for just over a $9 million cap hit with about $2.6 million remaining in dead money.

Bills | Zay Jones finishes up strong    Sun Dec 30, 05:00 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones finished with six receptions, 93 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets in the Week 17 game against the Miami Dolphins. He ended up with five touchdowns over his final five outings.

Footballguys view: Jones disappeared some weeks, but also looked like Josh Allen's favorite target against the Dolphins. He'll be a late round flier next year with some upside if Allen progresses in his first full offseason.

Bills | LeSean McCoy gets into end zone    Sun Dec 30, 04:57 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen completed 17-of-26 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns and an interceptions in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins and he rushed for 95 yards and a pair of scores.

Footballguys view: Allen displayed as a high a weekly fantasy ceiling as any quarterback during his best games, and saved his strongest game for last. He'll be a polarizing player in drafts next year, but one that carries week-winning potential.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is viewed as an important piece of the offense for 2019, according to head coach Sean McDermott, and McDermott said he feels McCoy has 'bought in' with the Bills for next season.

Footballguys view: The Bills didn't trade McCoy when they had the chance and now they are stuck with at a somewhat reasonable 6.175 million dollar price tag considering the copious amount of cap room they have. He'll be one of the last starting running backs drafted in fantasy leagues next year.
