Bills | Stephon Gilmore will attend camp    Mon Jul 25, 09:55 AM

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore said Monday, July 25, that he plans to attend training camp. Gillmore was seeking a long-term deal in the offseason.

Footballguys view: According to reports, the Bills are not willing to pay the price Gilmore is seeking at this time. If he plays out the 2016 season and hits free agency next offseason, Gilmore could get a deal larger than what Josh Norman (five year, $75 million with $50 million guaranteed) got from Washington earlier this year.

Bills | Sammy Watkins running full speed    Mon Jul 25, 09:45 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he is sprinting at 100%, and he's doing cuts, but certain things aren't at full speed. Watkins said that he's not mentally comfortable making speed cuts to the left off of his surgically repaired foot, but he expects that to be the final hurdle in his rehab. Watkins isn't sure exactly what he'll be allowed to do after he reports to camp, but he's anticipating a limited workload.

Footballguys view: Watkins is correct to assume he'll have a limited workload. He's the centerpiece of the passing game, and the team doesn't need to risk further injury with a ton of work in camp or preseason. The Bills will have one of the most run-heavy offenses in the league, but when they go through the air it will be as much Watkins as possible. We're projecting him as a mid-range WR2 for fantasy owners in 2016.

Buffalo Bills CB Javier Arenas will have to make the 53-man roster as a punt returner, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Bills | Kolby Listenbee has impressed Rex Ryan    Sat Jul 23, 01:09 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Kolby Listenbee (hernia) has been explosive when on the field but needs to be healthy, head coach Rex Ryan said.

Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of TCU, Listenbee's game is all about winning deep. He's got a decent size/speed combination, but it's his ball-tracking ability that makes him stand out. He's a dynasty prospect we're adding (in deep dynasty leagues) or at least monitoring (in standard dynasty leagues).

Bills | Dezmin Lewis making strides    Fri Jul 22, 08:41 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Dezmin Lewis has made huge strides from his rookie year to this season, according to offensive coordinator Greg Roman. 'He's here first thing in the morning,' Roman said. 'He's one of those guys that we started to take notice of before we even got on the field. What usually happens, what they do in the meetings, weight room, etc. carries over to the field. Those two are very interconnected. His play on the field has reflected that.'

Footballguys view: The third wide receiver role for the Bills isn't a great place to look for fantasy gold, but if you are tracking this competition, Lewis should be considered the leader heading into camp. He's got fluid athleticism for his size and could help replace what the Bills lost when Chris Hogan signed with the Patriots.

Bills | Buffalo hasn't pursued Fred Jackson    Thu Jul 21, 05:00 PM

Free-agent RB Fred Jackson (Seahawks) has not received interest from his former team in the Buffalo Bills yet.

Footballguys view: We don 't know that we expect him to, though they may still want to add some bodies to back up LeSean McCoy. Mike Gillislee hasn't shown us enough to feel good about and Jonathan Williams is exciting, but a rookie who recently was popped for a DWI. We're not sure Jackson has anything much left in the tank though as he looked just so-so in carries last year with the Seahawks.

Bills | Mike Gillislee expected to be No. 2    Thu Jul 21, 02:48 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee is expected to be the team's No. 2 running back even if the team signs another running back. The job is Gillislee's to lose.

Footballguys view: We don't expect this to stick, as Gillislee is a shaky runner. Jonathan Williams should leapfrog him in camp, but does it really matter as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy? Probably not. Take Gillislee or Williams as a handcuff late if you want them at all. This is McCoy's team and he is a solid RB2 with upside.

Bills | Shaq Lawson's timetable cloudy    Wed Jul 20, 10:23 AM

Buffalo Bills LB Shaq Lawson (shoulder) could miss half the season, or possibly the entire season, according to ESPN's Louis Riddick. However, a source told WGR 550's Sal Capaccio, Lawson isn't expected to miss that much time. The source also said a definitive timetable hasn't been set for Lawson.

Footballguys view: Lawson had shoulder surgery back in May, and the timetable for recovery should be about six months. We wouldn't be surprised to see the talented rookie put on the PUP list to begin the regular season. We'll learn more about this as training camp goes on.

Bills | Sammy Watkins 'right where he needs to be'    Tue Jul 19, 12:23 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) doesn't know how much he'll do during training camp but said he's 'right where I need to be' after suffering a left foot injury in the offseason. The Bills report to training camp Friday, July 29.

Footballguys view: The Bills are likely to be cautious with Watkins at the start of camp as he continues to recover from the foot injury. There's no need to risk further injury to their star WR in camp or most of the preseason. When the regular season hits, expect Watkins to perform like a low-end WR2 with upside for fantasy owners.

Bills | EJ Manuel expected to be backup    Tue Jul 19, 02:54 AM

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel is expected to hang onto the primary backup job behind QB Tyrod Taylor, as rookie QB Cardale Jones hasn't made enough progress to pose an immediate threat.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft...and the only QB taken in the top round that year...Manuel has struggled to impress as a pro. Not only does he get banged up too often, but Manuel also lacks the accuracy and touch of a consistent starter. We love that he's a football junkie, but it doesn't appear like he's a starting-caliber QB in the NFL. He may get another shot to be a starter somewhere else, but in Buffalo he's strictly the backup.

Bills | Cardale Jones likely to be No. 3    Tue Jul 19, 02:53 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Cardale Jones is no immediate threat to unseat QB EJ Manuel as the backup for the 2016 season, according to beat writer Joe Buscaglia. Jones showed some inaccuracy and looked uncomfortable during offseason practices.

Footballguys view: Jones has a rocket arm and the athleticism to keep plays alive with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield. However, he has problems with consistency and accuracy. That's why he's a developmental QB for the Bills. The raw tools are there for Jones if he can get up to speed in the NFL as a passer. Not only will he need improved accuracy, but he needs to show the ability to make quicker decisions when facing the hyper-disciplined defenses of the NFL.

Bills | Jonathan Williams not suspended for now     Mon Jul 18, 05:25 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams is unlikely to be suspended before 2017, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak. Williams was arrested Thursday, July 14, and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Footballguys view: The legal process will have to be exhausted before Williams faces any punishment. There's a chance he doesn't see any discipline from the NFL in 2016. The rookie is a naturally talented runner, but this run-in with the law does not help his chances of making a fully positive impression. With Karlos Williams suspended the first four games of the year, there's a chance for a guy like Jonathan Williams to earn the backup role in Buffalo behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins probable for camp    Mon Jul 18, 04:54 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is probable to participate in training camp, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

Footballguys view: The Bills are going to run the ball as much as possible. However, when they do go through the air it will be Watkins as the primary target--and for good reason. He's a big-time playmaker who can be a valuable fantasy asset in 2016. Watkins has a current ADP of WR21 (3.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bills | LeSean McCoy will be rested    Mon Jul 18, 04:22 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy will play very little in the preseason, if at all, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

Footballguys view: Good! The team knows they're going to run the ball early and often...with McCoy as the featured back. There's no need to risk injury or wear down the seasoned veteran by overworking him in camp.

Bills | Buffalo makes Reggie Bush an offer    Mon Jul 18, 01:05 PM

Updating previous reports, the Buffalo Bills have put out an offer to free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers), but Bush is weighing his options and is in no rush to make a decision, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Bush played in just five games last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Footballguys view: We may see Bush find a new home before the start of training camp, and it may be with the Bills. The team has interest in adding a back due to Karlos Williams' four-game suspension and rookie Jonathan Williams arrest for DWI last week. If signed, Bush will compete with those two plus Mike Gillislee for the primary backup job behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Reggie Bush interests Bills    Mon Jul 18, 11:34 AM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) has drawn interest from the Buffalo Bills. Bush is still weighing his options.

Footballguys view: The Bills have a talented group of RBs, but there's some problems that could open the door for a veteran like Bush to be added. Karlos Williams has been suspended the first four games of the year and rookie Jonathan Williams was recently arrested for DWI which could lead to league discipline. If added, Bush would compete to be a reserve RB behind starter LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Kolby Listenbee should be ready for camp    Fri Jul 15, 05:21 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Kolby Listenbee (hernia) was limited during offseason workouts because he is recovering from hernia surgery but should be ready for the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of TCU, Listenbee is a deep threat who averaged 19 yards per catch in 2015. He can get deep and tracks the ball well over his shoulder. We like him in dynasty leagues, but re-draft owners know that this passing game isn't going to do much and outside of Sammy Watkins there's no fantasy-relevant Bills WR.

Bills | Reggie Bush an option for Buffalo?    Fri Jul 15, 04:24 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) could be an option for the Buffalo Bills because of RB Karlos Williams' four-game suspension, in the opinion of CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

Footballguys view: We're not crazy about this idea, but the Bills may want to add a veteran back. We like rookie Jonathan Williams as a player all dynasty owners need to add or at least monitor. Add in veteran Mike Gillislee, and the Bills go four deep at the position (when Karlos Williams is not suspended).

Bills | Jonathan Williams arrested    Fri Jul 15, 03:05 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams was arrested Thursday, July 14, and has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Footballguys view: We like the rookie back, but this is just unacceptable. The legal process will have to play its course before the league takes any action. With Karlos Williams out of shape and suspended for the first four games of the year, Jonathan Williams has a chance to win the primary backup job behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Karlos Williams suspended four games    Fri Jul 15, 03:03 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Footballguys view: It hasn't been a good offseason for Williams. He was already in the doghouse as he's about 20 to 25 pounds overweight, and now Williams will miss the first month of the season. Williams can practice during training camp, and he can play with the team in the preseason. Once the regular season begins, Williams has to stay away from the facility but he's eligible to return in Week 5 against the Rams.

Bills | Greg Salas may earn No. 3 WR job    Wed Jul 13, 06:16 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Greg Salas is a strong candidate for the No. 3 wide receiver job because of his quickness, route running and hands. WRs Leonard Hankerson and Dezmin Lewis are also expected to compete for job during training camp.

Footballguys view: No matter who wins this job, there's not going to be a lot of fantasy value from the No.3 WR in Buffalo. The Bills are going to run the ball as much as possible, and when they do go through the air it will be WR Sammy Watkins and TE Charles Clay as the primary targets.

Bills | Two Buffalo RBs could earn playing time    Wed Jul 13, 05:44 PM

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonathan Williams could earn some playing time during training camp if RB Karlos Williams is still overweight when he reports for camp.

Footballguys view: Gillislie showed last year that he could produce on limited touches, and he flashed way more than he did during his time with the Dolphins. Jonathan Williams is one of our favorite rookie RBs from this draft class. He's buried on the depth chart right now, but he's talented and he may not be far from fantasy production if/when injuries strike. Karlos Williams had better get in shape...and get in gear if he doesn't want one or both of these RBs to pass him.

Bills | LeSean McCoy won't face discipline    Wed Jul 13, 10:27 AM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy will not be disciplined for his role in a nightclub brawl during the offseason, according to a league spokesperson.

Footballguys view: McCoy dodges some trouble here. He's the Bills featured back, and they should give him as large of a workload as he can possibly handle. Fantasy owners should watch the backup situation behind McCoy. Karlos Williams is overweight, and he will have to win the No.2 job over guys like Mike Gillislee and rookie Jonathan Williams. Handcuffing the correct backup to McCoy could pay off big for fantasy owners. McCoy has a current ADP of RB13 (3.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bills | Karlos Williams might need conditioning    Mon Jul 11, 11:08 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams showed up to minicamp approximately 20-25 pounds overweight. Head coach Rex Ryan indicated the team would need to set a realistic weight-loss goal for Williams by the start of training camp, which probably means he'll be starting practice conditioning on the sideline.

Footballguys view: Williams needs to get in shape and prove that he can be the primary backup behind LeSean McCoy in 2016. He's going to face tough competition from guys like Mike Gillislee and rookie Jonathan Williams. A fifth-round pick out of Arkansas this year, Williams is one of the more naturally talented runners in this draft class. He's powerful and instinctive with the ball in his hands, and Jonathan Williams could easily be a three-down back at the pro level.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor not worried about contract    Mon Jul 11, 04:07 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is entering the final year of his contract but said he is only focused on leading the team to wins in 2016.

Footballguys view: Taylor knows that he could be in for a big payday if he plays up to his potential in 2016. He's on the books for $3.1 million in 2016, but he could be making $15 million or more each season if he shows well as the Bills starter. A QB with his skill set would likely be in high demand if he hit the open market.

Bills | Sammy Watkins resumes running    Fri Jul 8, 01:41 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) posted a video on his Instagram that showed him running, and he said 'back on top soon.'

Footballguys view: This is great news. The Bills need him to be healthy, and they'll feed him the ball. That said, this run-first offense and the limitations of Tyrod Taylor lead us to rate him as a WR2 at best.

Bills | LeSean McCoy's case dismissed    Thu Jul 7, 07:10 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy's nightclub brawl case has officially been dismissed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office Thursday, July 7, according to McCoy's attorney.

Footballguys view: We can all breathe a sigh of relief. McCoy should be a great RB2 with the upside for more if he is healthy and gets the carries the Bills are promising. In 12-team PPR leagues, McCoy has a current ADP of RB13 (3.10).

Bills | Robert Woods played with serious injury    Thu Jul 7, 04:38 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) played with a torn groin on both the left and right side for about half the season last year. Woods said he feels great now, though, and he looked more quick and explosive this offseason, too. Additionally, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods' route-running is better than he's ever seen. Woods said that his chemistry with QB Tyrod Taylor has also improved due to first-team repetitions with each other, and after playing together some of last season.

Footballguys view: Inconsistency has been his biggest issue with Woods, which could potentially stem from the injury as well. At best we see him as a WR6 though his ranking could be impacted if he secures the job as the WR2 in Buffalo. Fantasy owners know the Bills aren't exactly going to fill the air with footballs under head coach Rex Ryan.

Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin did not qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics after placing seventh in the men's long jump. Goodwin has already said he feels banged up from the experience.

Footballguys view: Goodwin is no lock for the 53-man roster. He's got Olympic speed, but he has not translated as a viable NFL prospect. Goodwin isn't someone that we're interested in...even in super deep dynasty leagues.

Bills | Marquise Goodwin feeling tired    Mon Jul 4, 02:13 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin said his body is banged up from trying out for the Olympics. Goodwin said he is going to get lots of rest before commencing football activities.

Footballguys view: Goodwin is an Olympic athlete with crazy speed, but that has yet to translate to the football field in the pros. The Bills aren't going to fill the air with footballs in 2016, and Goodwin is no lock to make the 53-man roster. A third-round pick for the Bills in 2013, Goodwin only has 20 catches in his three-year career. Last year, a ribs injury limited the speedy receiver to only two games. Even fantasy owners in super deep dynasty leagues aren't coveting Goodwin as a prospect.

Bills | Sammy Watkins not sure about camp    Sun Jun 26, 01:46 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was noncommittal about his status for training camp. Watkins said if he's not ready for training camp then he'll get ready for the first game of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Watkins stance is more optimistic than the complete non-committal stance he took recently, but it is still hard to know if we should significantly move him down from the second round ADP he had before offseason foot surgery. The talent to deliver on that ADP is obviously there, but the durability might not be.

Buffalo Bills OT Seantrel Henderson (illness) was down to 306 pounds during minicamp because of his multiple surgeries but is looking to weigh 325 to 330 pounds when he starts playing again.

Footballguys view: Henderson had been out of contact with the team, but he is back on their radar now. He could be a solid swing tackle with Jordan Mills currently holding down the right tackle job.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor may get in-season extension    Wed Jun 22, 06:50 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor and the Bills are both open to an in-season extension, according to a source. Talks have been ongoing through the offseason, but an extension is not expected before the season starts.

Footballguys view: The Bills know Taylor can demand at least 10-12 million a year as a starting quarterback, and they need to see that he can stay healthy and effective over more than one season before committing that. It's a smart move from a money standpoint, but every game that Taylor plays well will increase what he is due on his next contract. This can only help him for fantasy, where he is going as a backup quarterback, but one that can score in the top 7-10 in any given week because of his running ability.

Bills | Dezmin Lewis turns heads in minicamp    Tue Jun 21, 01:10 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Dezmin Lewis impressed during minicamp, and drew the raves from head coach Rex Ryan, who said Lewis 'consistently has done a great job.'

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick out of Central Arkansas last year, Lewis is a raw prospect but he has an intriguing size/speed combination. He can win on vertical routes but needs better 'my ball' mentality when going against more physical CBs. We're watching him in super deep dynasty leagues.

Bills | Karlos Williams has gained weight    Tue Jun 21, 01:09 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams was carrying extra weight during minicamp, and said he ate so his pregnant fiancÚ wouldn't feel bad. He has plenty of time to get into shape, but he'll need to be in top form to hold off hungry RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams.

Footballguys view: So it wasn't the devil that made him do it, but instead devil's food cake? Williams needs to get in shape and prove that he's the best backup option behind LeSean McCoy. We love rookie RB Jonathan Williams, and he may end up being the better option...especially if Karlos Williams can't stay in shape and stay healthy.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor has high expectations    Tue Jun 21, 01:08 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor feels he will restore a winning tradition in Buffalo, and he feels he can do exactly what Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton did last season. 'I am 100 percent confident that I can do that. Cam played very well and willed his team. He took his team to the game that everyone who plays this game wants to get to. I commend him for that. We came in the same year so I definitely kept up with him. We became friends throughout our time in the league. Yes, I am 100 percent confident I can do the things that he did,' Taylor said.

Footballguys view: Taylor does not lack for confidence--or for skill as a passer and runner. He's super quick and fast when running the ball, but we loved what he showed as a passer. Taylor shows incredible deep touch when attacking a defense vertically. His rushing ability makes him an attractive fantasy option. He's a QB2 with the upside to rank as a top-15 fantasy QB in 2016...even in the Bills run-heavy offense.

Buffalo Bills LB IK Enemkpali has worked with the first-team defense in offseason practice and he might push LB Manny Lawson for a starting job.

Footballguys view: Enemkpali is mainly known as the former Jets player who broke Geno Smith's jaw, but he may have a chance to rush the passer often for the Bills in 2016. During the team's recent minicamp, Enemkpali was getting by blockers with inside and outside pass-rush moves.

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) expects to be ready when training camp begins July 30, but he said will be cautious when he returns to the field.

Footballguys view: More good news surrounding Watkins here. We have a feeling the Bills will be cautious with Watkins during camp and the preseason so the injury is not aggravated. At this early juncture, all signs point to Watkins being ready by Week 1 of the regular season. Now, if he could only stay healthy for a full season.

TE Blake Annen first joined the Bills on the practice squad late last season. Now the athletic tight end is pushing for a definitive role in Buffalo's offense according to BuffaloBills.com writer Andrew Kuczkowski.

Footballguys view: A former high school track star (and former college teammate of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce), Annen has speed that separates him from the group of TEs behind starter Charles Clay. Known as a coachable player with a strong work ethic, Annen is someone on our fantasy radar--but only in super deep dynasty leagues.
