Rams | Kenny Britt not practicing    Wed Oct 22, 05:13 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: Britt is a WR5/6 against the Chiefs this week. We'll see if he can practice fully later in the week.

Rams | Tre Mason could be top RB option    Wed Oct 22, 03:08 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason could be the top candidate for a majority of carries since he is averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Mason rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in Week 7 and received most of the carries because he had the hot hand, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. RB Zac Stacy was announced the starter for Week 7 but only played one snap. RB Benny Cunningham only rushed for three yards during the game. Stacy is averaging 3.93 yards per carry this season, while Cunningham is averaging 3.78 yards per carry.

Footballguys view: Mason has led the team in rushing yards over the last two weeks. The speedy rookie has more explosiveness than Cunningham or Stacy. Fantasy owners need to consider Mason a low-end RB2/flex with upside in PPR leagues.

Rams | Brett Favre endorses Austin Davis    Wed Oct 22, 01:13 PM

St. Louis Rams QB Austin Davis was 18-for-21 for 152 yards in the team's Week 7 win over the Seattle Seahawks, and former QB Brett Favre thinks Davis could be special in the league. 'Not to sound off my rocker, but (Davis) -- in my mind -- can be the next Tom Brady or Kurt Warner. (Brian) Hoyer as well,' Favre said. Davis' 86 percent completion rate against the Seahawks was the highest accuracy mark against a defending Super Bowl champion (minimum of 20 passes). It was also the second highest completion percentage against the Seahawks.

Footballguys view: Of course he does! Those Southern Mississippi quarterbacks have to stick up for each other! Davis broke alot of Favre's records from college, and he's taken that gunslinger style to the pros. The young quarterback has gone through some bumps this year, and he's nothing more than a desperation addition for fantasy owners.

Rams | Sign two to practice squad    Tue Oct 21, 05:14 PM

The St. Louis Rams signed free-agent WRs Kadron Boone (Eagles) and Devon Wylie (49ers) to their practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: Wylie was once an interesting prospect in dynasty leagues. He's been unable to stick on more than one roster despite having incredible natural ability. Wylie is quick, fast and agile--but he struggles staying healthy and with consistency. We're no longer interested in him...even in the deepest of deep dynasty leagues.

St. Louis Rams WR Emory Blake was released Monday, Oct. 20.

Rams | Austin Pettis waived    Mon Oct 20, 05:38 PM

The St. Louis Rams waived WR Austin Pettis Monday, Oct. 20.

Rams | Zac Stacy nearly non-existent    Sun Oct 19, 05:01 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy did not have any touches in the Week 7 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams used a combination of RBs Tre Mason, who had 85 rushing yards and a touchdown, and Benny Cunningham, who led the team with 46 receiving yards and a score.

Footballguys view: Stacy has fallen out of favor after seizing the backfield last year from lesser talents than Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham. He is droppable in redraft leagues, and his dynasty value is plummeting.

Rams | Benny Cunningham starts    Sun Oct 19, 01:11 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Benny Cunningham received the start in the team's Week 7 game.

Footballguys view: Tre Mason got all of the running back touches on the next drive, including the touchdown. He's still the most valuable Rams back to own in fantasy leagues.

Rams | Hot-handed RB will be used in STL    Sat Oct 18, 04:20 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy may have his workload cut after offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the team will use the running back with the hot hand late in the game. 'Early in the game, we try to get guys multiple touches (and) then we try to go with the hot hand late in the game,' Schottenheimer said. 'Most places that I've been that have really good running games, they had the people to spread the ball around. Different backs bring different types of plays.'

Footballguys view: Well that's no good. Bump Stacy to no more than an RB3. He may be the hot hand but there is too much chance Benny Cunningham (or Tre Mason) ends up top dog instead. It might be good to stay away from this unless you're in a tough spot.

Rams | Tre Mason makes most of chance    Sat Oct 18, 12:34 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Tre Mason was active last week for the first time all season, and he played nine snaps with six touches. He finished with five carries for 40 yards and a reception for 12 yards. He was active for the first time because RB Chase Reynolds (hip) was inactive due to injury. Mason is expected to join RBs Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham in a running-back-by-committee approach. 'Well, early in the game we try to get guys multiple touches,' offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said Friday, Oct. 17. 'That's part of the deal. Then we try to go with the hot hand late in the game. Most places that I've been that have really good running games, they had the people to spread the ball around.'

Footballguys view: We love what the rookie showed last week....and we want to see more. Here's the problem: offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer says the team will use a 'hot hand' approach at the running back position. That makes Mason (RB4/what the heck flex), Benny Cunningham (RB3/flex) and Zac Stacy (high-end RB3) all risky fantasy plays.

St. Louis Rams C Tim Barnes (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as doubtful for Week 7. DE Ethan Westbrooks (hand), CB Brandon McGee (foot), CB Trumaine Johnson (knee) and LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (thigh) were limited during practice and are listed as questionable. DT Alex Carrington (knee), WR Austin Pettis (ankle), RB Chase Reynolds (thigh) and C Barrett Jones (back) fully participated in practice and are listed as probable.

Rams | Zac Stacy listed as probable    Fri Oct 17, 05:00 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as probable.

Footballguys view: It would almost be more comforting for Stacy owners if he was hurting enough to explain the drop in his usage. If he doesn't get a lot of touches against the Seahawks, it might be time to drop him.

Rams | Zac Stacy practices in full    Thu Oct 16, 09:17 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.

Footballguys view: Things have been changing in the Rams' backfield, and fantasy owners need to take note. We saw rookie Tre Mason lead the team in rushing in Week 6, and he could get more of an opportunity going forward. This drops the value of Stacy (and Benny Cunningham). Stacy is a RB3/flex play only moving forward.

Rams | Zac Stacy healthy    Wed Oct 15, 09:23 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) had no injury issues in Week 6 when the team decided to use a three-man rotation at running back, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Footballguys view: An important note for fantasy owners here, but people need to recognize that the Rams could start using Tre Mason a bit more in the backfield. The rookie is more explosive than Stacy or Benny Cunningham. The Rams play the Seahawks in Week 7, and we can't trust Stacy as anything more than a RB3/flex play.

Rams | St. Louis could stick with RB rotation    Tue Oct 14, 07:24 PM

St. Louis Rams RBs Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason may continue to head a three-man rotation in the backfield, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Footballguys view: Great. Just what fantasy owners did not want to hear. Stacy should continue to be the lead back, but Cunningham and Mason could get worked in more and more. Stacy might be able to perform like a low-end RB2/flex play, while Cunningham and Mason are more 'what the heck' flex plays.

Rams | Kenny Britt does not practice    Fri Oct 10, 08:45 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt (knee) was added to the injury report Friday, Oct. 10, due to a knee injury. He did not take part in practice Friday.

Footballguys view: The nature of the absence is unknown right now, but you can't have Britt in your lineup without more information. Brian Quick would be an even better start Monday night if Britt is out, and both Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey would get more snaps.

Rams | Zac Stacy practices in full    Fri Oct 10, 08:45 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) was listed as a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 10.

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 9, but will still have a chance to play in the team's Week 6 game, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to keep an eye on this situation. If Stacy is limited or can't play on Monday night against the 49ers, then we'd see backup Benny Cunningham get a larger role.

St. Louis Cardinals WR Brian Quick posted a team-high five receptions with a game-high 87 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Quick is working well as a downfield threat and a red zone targets, and Austin Davis is happy to give him chances to make plays. He's established as a WR3/Flex with his value trending up.

St. Louis Rams QB Austin Davis completed 29 of his 49 pass attempts for 375 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was his first start since being named as the starter for the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: Davis was down 34-7, but furiously brought his team back in the fourth quarter. He has a myriad of developing weapons, and Davis is a gunslinger with an aggressive attitude, so he could be a useful fantasy QB for streamers this year.

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) suffered a calf injury in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Jeff Fisher said Sunday, Oct. 5. Fisher said Stacy was not pulled from the game due to a fumble that led to a Philadelphia touchdown.

Footballguys view: Stacy has a tough matchup against the 49ers up next week if he can go. Benny Cunningham would likely get the start if he can not, but we would also see Trey Watts and maybe even healthy scratch to this point third-round pick Tre Mason.
