Rams | Mychal Kendricks may not be option for LAR    Wed May 23, 10:59 PM

Free-agent LB Mychal Kendricks (Eagles) does not appear to be an option for the Los Angeles Rams at this point, but he could be pursued if defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is interested in him, in the opinion of the Los Angeles Daily News' Vincent Bonsignore.

Rams | Josh Reynolds recovering from torn labrum    Mon May 21, 09:01 PM

Los Angeles Rams WR Josh Reynolds (shoulder) underwent offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum he suffered on a special teams play in the fourth quarter of the Wild Card loss to the Atlanta Falcons in January.

Footballguys view: A fourth-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2017, Reynolds ran 153 routes as a rookie, was targeted 24 times and caught 11 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown. When healthy, Reynolds is going to compete for a spot on the depth chart behind Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

Rams | Ogbonnia Okoronkwo had surgery    Mon May 21, 07:07 PM

Los Angeles Rams DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (foot) recently had surgery as a result of a foot injury this offseason.

Footballguys view: The Rams added Okoronkwo in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft. He was a fierce edge rusher for the Sooners in college, and he'll fit right in on one of the most ferocious defenses in the NFL. Head coach Sean McVay expects Okoronkwo to participate in training camp.

Rams | Aaron Donald not showing up    Mon May 21, 09:31 AM

Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald won't attend organized team activities Monday, May 21.

Footballguys view: Donald is set to make around $6.8 million in the final year of his rookie contract. The 2018 Defensive Player of the Year is seriously underpaid but lacks leverage in the situation. He must report to the team a month before the start of the regular season if he wants to become a free agent in 2019. The Rams could franchise him for two years in a row after this season if need be. Both sides should work to come to an agreement before the start of training camp, but there's no telling the distance in negotiations at this time.

Rams | Coach optimistic about Aaron Donald deal    Wed May 16, 09:05 PM

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said he is optimistic that DT Aaron Donald will receive a contract extension this offseason.

Footballguys view: Donald is in line to make around $6.8 million in 2018, and he's looking for a huge upgrade in pay status. The Rams should do what they can to accommodate the superstar defensive tackle. McVay said he has been in contact with Donald this offseason.

Rams | Nick Holley signed by Rams    Tue May 15, 07:37 PM

Undrafted free-agent RB Nick Holley (Kent State) was signed by the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday, May 15.

Footballguys view: A fifth-year senior for the Golden Flashes, Holley saw each of his last three seasons in college cut short by injury. He suffered a torn ACL back in September in a loss to Marshall. The converted quarterback is just trying to turn heads and perhaps make the practice squad.

Rams | Larry Rose claimed by Rams    Tue May 15, 05:16 PM

The Los Angeles Rams claimed RB Larry Rose off waivers from the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, May 15.

Footballguys view: Rose was one of the most productive players in the history of New Mexico State. At 5'11" 195 pounds, Rose has good all-around talent. He never matched his production in 2015 when he rushed for over 1,500 yards, but Rose was steady as a receiver. He snared 133 passes during his four years in college. Rose is a long-shot to make the 53-man roster, but we'll always monitor a player like this in the deepest of deep dynasty leagues.

Rams | Luis Perez joins Rams    Mon May 14, 05:47 PM

Undrafted free-agent QB Luis Perez (Texas A&M-Commerce) signed with the Los Angeles Rams Monday, May 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Perez is an interesting D2 quarterback who likely ends up on the practice squad if he impresses. He's smart and accurate but Perez is not mobile and has questionable arm strength.

Rams | John Kelly to be the backup?    Sat May 12, 11:41 PM

Los Angeles Rams RB John Kelly's versatility as a receiver makes him a better candidate to be the backup to RB Todd Gurley than RB Malcolm Brown, according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.

Footballguys view: Kelly had 37 catches last year for the Volunteers and can stay on the field all three downs if need be. He's violent as a runner and will use his stiff arm to create space for himself. Kelly is not creative or elusive with the ball in his hands, and has more of a 'no nonsense' style of running the ball. We'll see how he compares to Brown (more of a power back) in the Rams battle for backup running back.

Rams | John Kelly heads to the west coast    Sat Apr 28, 03:25 PM

The Los Angeles Rams picked Tennessee RB John Kelly with the 176th overall selection (Round 6) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Kelly's undersized but tough, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. If needed, he could likely play on all three downs, but with Todd Gurley looking so good last season, we expect Kelly to be used in a very limited fashion.

Rams | Tavon Austin traded by Rams    Sat Apr 28, 02:48 PM

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin was traded to the Dallas Cowboys Saturday, April 28, in exchange for the 192nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The rams finally get rid of a guy they haven't seemed enamored of in some time. They used him as a runner, as well as a receiver, but never committed to him, though in fairness, he rarely lived up to expectations anyway.

Rams | Marcus Peters' fifth-year option picked up    Tue Apr 24, 01:58 PM

The Los Angeles Rams exercised their fifth-year option on CB Marcus Peters on Tuesday, April 24.

Footballguys view: The Rams traded for Peters earlier this offseason and are going to use him for the next two years at least. The 'No Fly Zone' is now in Los Angeles with Peters and Aqib Talib manning the cornerback positions in the secondary. We're excited about the Rams in a Super Bowl window.

Rams | LA Rams pick up option on Todd Gurley    Tue Apr 24, 01:50 PM

The Los Angeles Rams exercised their fifth-year option on RB Todd Gurley on Tuesday, April 24.

Footballguys view: Absolutely zero surprise here. Gurley is one of the best RBs in the league and he can be dangerous as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. Fantasy owners know that Gurley can be the key piece to a championship run as a RB1.

Rams | Greg Zuerlein making good progress    Thu Apr 19, 06:14 PM

Rams | Aaron Donald skipping workouts    Sun Apr 15, 11:07 PM

Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald plans to skip voluntary offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: Donald is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, playing on the fifth-year option provided to first-round picks. He is on the books for around $6.9 million in 2018 but is looking for a pay raise...just like he was last year when he held out until September 7th. Donald is one of the most dominant players at his position and in the NFL as a whole. His next deal should be record-setting for the defensive tackle position.

Rams | Aqib Talib happy to be a Ram    Sat Apr 14, 11:11 PM

Los Angeles Rams CB Aqib Talib said the Rams were one of the teams he was comfortable joining because he will reunite with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. 'He's like a guru at putting guys in position to succeed,' Talib said.

Footballguys view: Talib had his best season under Phillips during the Super Bowl 50 run the Broncos had in 2015. He's reunited with Phillips in L.A. and it should be a productive pairing once again...especially since the Rams also added CB Marcus Peters this offseason to start opposite Talib. The new 'No Fly Zone' is most certainly in Los Angeles.

Rams | Jared Goff already throwing to new receiver    Wed Apr 4, 08:02 AM

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff has already been throwing with newly acquired WR Brandin Cooks to grow a rapport with him.

Footballguys view: They share an agency and the Rams had been trying to trade for Cooks since last year, so the groundwork was being laid for a while. Cooks could be marginally more successful than Sammy Watkins in the same role, but he probably won't be the most valuable fantasy receiver on the Rams this year.

Rams | Odell Beckham won't be going to Rams    Wed Apr 4, 08:01 AM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. had interest from the Los Angeles Rams, but the combination of trade compensation and a future extension made the price exorbitant. There were never serious negotiations between the clubs.

Footballguys view: A player like Beckham being available in trade is a very rare event, and it might have been a non-event.

Rams | LA Rams hope to extend Brandin Cooks    Tue Apr 3, 08:46 PM

The Los Angeles Rams have 'already expressed interest' in an extension with newly acquired WR Brandin Cooks, who is entering his contract year in 2018.

Footballguys view: The trade would make no sense if the Rams don't extend Cooks. They gave up a second-round pick for Sammy Watkins last year and only got one year from him, although they could recoup a third-round pick in the compensatory section of the draft next year. Cooks will likely draw 13-15 million a year with at least 30 guaranteed on his next deal.

Rams | Brandin Cooks acquired by Rams    Tue Apr 3, 06:04 PM

New England Patriots WR Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick were acquired by the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday, April 3, in exchange for a first-round pick and sixth-round pick.

Footballguys view: Cooks value takes a hit going to the role that made Sammy Watkins a pedestrian producer last year. This could actually help Robert Woods by putting the best outside corner on Cooks instead of Woods. This helps Jared Goff and Todd Gurley by stretching out defenses.

Free-agent DT Ndamukong Suh (Dolphins) agreed to a one-year, $14 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams Monday, March 26, according to a source. Suh was offered more elsewhere but chose the Rams.

Footballguys view: The Rams get even scarier on the defensive side of the ball. Suh can play on a talented defensive line with Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers. Rams defensive coordinator is one of the best in the game, and he's got to be licking his chops when it comes to ways Suh will be used in 2018.

Rams | Odell Beckham of interest to Rams    Mon Mar 26, 05:04 PM

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. has drawn trade interest from the Los Angeles Rams. Beckham recently said he would hold out until he receives a new contract from either the Giants or another team.

Footballguys view: Any trade for Beckham would have to be huge. The Rams have not been shy about upgrading their roster on both sides of the ball this offseason. Trading for Beckham might be too rich for the Rams or any other team. The Giants are not actively shopping Beckham but they'd listen to offers as any team would.

Rams | Ndamukong Suh leaning toward Rams    Mon Mar 26, 08:20 AM

Free-agent DT Ndamukong Suh (Lions) is leaning toward the Los Angeles Rams, but he hasn't ruled out the Tennessee Titans or New Orleans Saints.

Footballguys view: Suh is leaning towards the Rams, and that would be an incredible landing spot for him. That defense is already stacked and has one of the most well-respected coordinators in Wade Phillips. Adding Suh would be a nightmare for opponents of the Rams in 2018.

Rams | Ramik Wilson joining LAR    Thu Mar 22, 07:22 PM

Free-agent LB Ramik Wilson (Chiefs) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, March 22. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Wilson was a starter for the Chiefs until they traded for Reggie Ragland. He'll compete with Cory Littleton to start next to Mark Barron and possibly have some IDP relevance.

Rams | Ndamukong Suh 'intrigued' by LA Rams    Tue Mar 20, 09:45 PM

Free-agent DL Ndamukong Suh is reportedly ''intrigued' by the prospect of playing on the same defensive line as Los Angeles Rams DL Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers, according to Yahoo! Sports Jordan Schultz.

Footballguys view: Suh should be intrigued by a team that looks like they could make a Super Bowl run in 2018. The Rams already have a dominant defense, and they've added a ton of talent to it through trades this offseason (Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters). Adding Suh to a line that features Donald and Brockers would just strike more fear into opponents this season.

Rams | LAR will meet with Ogbonnia Okoronkwo    Tue Mar 20, 04:24 PM

Oklahoma DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Rams at some point before the 2018 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The Rams would be a great fit for Okoronkwo. At 6'2" he plays larger than his size due to his wingspan. Okoronkwo has the bend and burst ability to get pressure on the quarterback from the edge. He is considered a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Rams | Mike Davis to meet with Rams    Mon Mar 19, 12:50 PM

Free-agent RB Mike Davis (Seahawks) is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Rams Monday, March 19.

Footballguys view: Davis was not tendered by the Seahawks, so he's testing the open market. He could be in the mix for the starting job if he's in Seattle, but with the Rams Davis would only compete for a reserve spot behind superstar RB Todd Gurley.

Rams | Dominique Easley re-signs with Rams    Mon Mar 19, 09:43 AM

Free-agent DT Dominique Easley (Rams) re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams Monday, March 19, on a one-year deal. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Easley was a first-round pick of the Patriots in 2014. His career has been knockd off track by injuries, but in 2016 Easley was a solid player for the Rams. He missed all of the 2017 season with a torn ACL. If healthy, Easley should be a nice rotational player for a strong Rams defense.
