Rams | Todd Gurley preparing mentally Mon May 11, 03:28 PM
St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) isn't able to participate in group drills just yet as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but he's still making other preparations. 'I'm just gaining mental [repetitions], basically just making sure I know what's going on.' Gurley said he listens to play calls, goes through plays by himself and watches the team during walkthroughs in order to improve his knowledge of the playbook.
|Footballguys view: It won't take Gurley long to get up to speed at the pro level. We could see him eased in as training camp hits with the idea that he'll be near 100 percent by the start of the regular season. Gurley can begin his rookie season splitting time with second-year back Tre Mason, but he has superstar potential and he could be the bellcow back for the Rams in the near future.|
Rams | Undrafted free agents land with Rams Mon May 4, 09:41 AM
Texas Tech WR Bradley Marquez, New Mexico Highlands WR Tyler Slavin, Texas RB Malcolm Brown, Texas State RB Terrence Franks, Iowa DT Louis Trinca-Pasat, Northwestern State CB Imoan Claiborne, Liberty FS Jacob Hagen signed undrafted free-agent deals with the St. Louis Rams Sunday, May 3.Link to story
Rams | Zac Stacy traded to Jets Sat May 2, 05:27 PM
Former St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has been traded to the New York Jets in exchange for the Jets' 224 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: The Rams clear up the backfield a little bit and it's now down to Todd Gurley and Tre Mason. Both backs could struggle behind this offensive line and against what could be stacked fronts as well as hurting each other's value. This is a tough fantasy situation going forward.|

Rams | STL ends wait for Sean Mannion Fri May 1, 11:04 PM
The St. Louis Rams selected Oregon State QB Sean Mannion in Round 3 (No. 89 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft Friday, May 1.
|Footballguys view: Sean Mannion ahead of Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley is a surprise, but a nice pick. He's got an average delivery and isn't remotely mobile, but has the raw tools if the Rams are patient. He may end up as the No. 2 to Nick Foles, but he shouldn't see the field any time soon.|
Rams | Todd Gurley may start on PUP list Fri May 1, 02:09 PM
St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) could begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he could be ready for the second week of camp, according to sources.
|Footballguys view: After his knee checked out, reports were that he would be ready for Week 1. The team will be cautious with him heading into camp though. The knee isn't what hurts his fantasy value - the poor offensive line is. He might be out of the top five in rookie fantasy drafts and right now appears to be no more than a RB3 for redraft until we see how things shake out.|
Rams | STL talk with Zac Stacy's reps Fri May 1, 02:08 PM
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy's representatives had a productive discussion with the team, but there is no decision on Stacy's future with the team.
|Footballguys view: After Todd Gurley was drafted, Stacy tweeted out 'yikes.' While he quickly deleted the tweet, we understand his concern. He's a third wheel behind Gurley and Tre Mason, at best. He and his agents want him to be traded or released, but there isn't a big market for him.|

Rams | Todd Gurley to be treated cautiously Fri May 1, 10:25 AM
St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) will not be rushed into action in the 2015 season, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. 'We're not gonna rush it,' Fisher said. 'We may well be a little on the conservative side. But this is the running back of our future. It makes no sense to subject him to or put him in a bad situation sooner than we have to.'
|Footballguys view: Of course the Rams will be careful with him, though he will be ready to go by Week 1. Expect him to trade snaps with Tre Mason, limiting his redraft value to maybe an RB3. Down the road he should be much better than that, but initially, splitting carries and behind a shaky offensive line, that's his ceiling.|
Rams | Zac Stacy wants out Fri May 1, 08:10 AM
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has asked the team for a trade or to be released after the team selected RB Todd Gurley in the first round of the NFL Draft, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Stacy is going to get his wish granted, but we don't know how many teams will be lined up to add him via trade. He was replaced as the starter last year by Tre Mason, and now with Gurley he will be pushed even further down the depth chart.|

Rams | Todd Gurley selected 10th overall Thu Apr 30, 09:16 PM
Georgia RB Todd Gurley was selected 10th overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft Thursday, April 30.
|Footballguys view: The Rams can pick up offensive line players in the second round and Gurley - when healthy he is a phenomenal talent. That said, this is not a great fantasy spot for Gurley right now and will hurt him in rookie drafts. He may slide out of the top five in fact.|
Rams | Brian Quick to participate in OTAs? Wed Apr 29, 01:43 AM
St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick (shoulder) is progressing well after shoulder surgery, and head coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday, April 28, that the receiver could possible participate in organized team activities (OTAs) with some protection.
|Footballguys view: The Rams re-signed Kenny Britt in part because of uncertainty about Quick's status. If Quick can participate in OTAs, that's a big win for the Rams. It's more likely that Quick will get up to speed in time for the preseason. The Rams are unlikely to have a wide receiver that we count on as more than bye/injury filler with an uninspiring passing game and Nick Foles at the helm.|

Rams | Brandon Scherff could be option for STL Sat Apr 25, 06:05 PM
Iowa OT Brandon Scherff could be atop of the team's draft board if he slipped to them in the 2015 NFL Draft at No. 10, but recent chatter is he's likely to be drafted before then. The team is unlikely to trade up to acquire him.
|Footballguys view: Scherff may be on the board when the Rams come up at 10th overall. He may be best suited as a guard at the pro level because of his struggles against elite edge-rushers. Scherff is a mauler as a run-blocker, and he plays with a nasty attitude that will help any ground game.|
Rams | Andrus Peat won't slip past St. Louis? Thu Apr 23, 10:47 PM
Stanford OT Andrus Peat won't slip past the St. Louis Rams with the No. 12 in the 2015 NFL Draft and could go even earlier, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Peat is arguably the best offensive tackle in this draft class, and he could easily be a top-10 pick. He's got the proper size, hand usage and athleticism to develop into a fine left tackle.|
Rams | Meeting with two OT prospects Wed Apr 22, 12:40 PM
Pittsburgh OT T.J. Clemmings and Miami (Fla.) OT Ereck Flowers are scheduled to meet with the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 22.
|Footballguys view: The Rams have thrown a lot of resources at their offensive line, but it still is basically in shambles heading into the 2015 campaign, which should give Tre Mason owners pause. Clemmings is a potentially strong right tackle that needs development. Flowers is flawed as a pass blocker, but teams love his run blocking. Both should be gone by the end of the second round.|
Rams | Sign several free agents Mon Apr 20, 05:23 PM
St. Louis Rams OG Brandon Washington signed his exclusive rights tender Monday, April 20. Restricted free-agents QB Austin Davis, TE Cory Harkey and S Rodney McLeod were also re-signed.
|Footballguys view: Davis is the player we'd like to highlight here. With all the changes at quarterback this offseason, we should see Davis compete for the backup job behind Nick Foles. He'll compete with Case Keenum and maybe a draft pick for the right to the second-string job.|

Rams | Bud Dupree visits St. Louis Fri Apr 17, 10:20 PM
Kentucky DE/LB Bud Dupree visited the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17.
|Footballguys view: Dupree is a freakish athlete who has drawn comparisons to Jamie Collins (Patriots) in the scouting community. He has the burst to get after the quarterback, and he's smooth enough to cover in open space. Look for Dupree to come off the board in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.|
Rams | St. Louis hosts Brett Hundley Fri Apr 17, 09:56 PM
UCLA QB Brett Hundley worked out for the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17.
|Footballguys view: Hundley is one of the most intriguing prospects in this draft class. He's crazy athletic and has a strong arm, reminding some in the scouting community of a young Randall Cunningham. Hundley holds onto the ball too long as a passer and needs to show improved ability to read defenses as he drops back.|
Rams | Sean Mannion works out Fri Apr 17, 04:42 PM
Oregon State QB Sean Mannion was scheduled to work out for the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Mannion is a big pocket passer who should come off the board on the last day of the draft. He's no immediate starter, but Mannion does have some tools that some team may try to develop.|
Rams | Have more pre-draft visits scheduled Thu Apr 16, 06:36 PM
Louisville OT Jamon Brown, Arizona State OG Jamil Douglas, Duke OG Laken Tomlinson, Florida OG Tre Jackson, Hobart OG Ali Marpet and Stanford OT Andrus Peat are all scheduled to visit the St. Louis Rams prior to the NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Notice a trend there? That's a lot of offensive line players for a team in desperate need of them. Expect the Rams to go hard to fix that offensive line.|
Rams | St. Louis hosts Marcus Mariota Thu Apr 16, 06:17 PM
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota worked out for the St. Louis Rams Thursday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: Are the Rams just kicking tires or are they not sure about Nick Foles? Given Foles' 2014...that isn't a bad idea. The team could surprise some and actually be in the market for a quarterback...although next year's draft class is much better at the position.|
Rams | Dorial Green-Beckham visits Rams Thu Apr 16, 02:08 PM
Oklahoma WR Dorial Green-Beckham visited with the St. Louis Rams in the first week of April.
|Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has a ton of talent but a penchant for trouble off the field. The Rams need receiver help, but they might want to pass on a guy who was kicked off a team and has had multiple incidents involving drugs. He has top-10 talent, but Green-Beckham may fall to the second round because of character concerns.|
Rams | St. Louis met with DeVante Parker Thu Apr 16, 02:07 PM
Louisville WR DeVante Parker met with the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 15. He is considered the third-best wide receiver in this year's draft behind Alabama WR Amari Cooper and West Virginia WR Kevin White. The Rams also had a pre-draft visit with Cooper in the first week of April, and White will visit with the Rams next week.
|Footballguys view: Now that the Rams have Nick Foles, they need to give him weapons. There is a good chance both Kevin White and Amari Cooper could be off the board by the time they pick at 10th overall. If that's the case, Parker is a good third option. Parker has good height, speed and great ball skills on deep targets. He'd be a potent weapon for Foles.|
Rams | Benardrick McKinney visits Wed Apr 15, 07:24 AM
Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney visited the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday, April 14.
|Footballguys view: McKinney is a hard-nosed player who arrives at the ball with natural violence. He has a great nose for the ball, and McKinney does a good job when scraping and flowing to the play. He's likely to be a late first- or early second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.|
Rams | Looking at other college QBs Sun Apr 12, 07:04 AM
Florida State QB Jameis Winston and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota are on the St. Louis Rams radar screen, but the Rams are also looking at Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson, UCLA QB Brett Hundley, and Oregon State QB Sean Mannion.
|Footballguys view: That's a wise idea for the Rams. This isn't a strong quarterback class, but they might grab a developmental guy like one of the players listed. We'd like Grayson best in that position. Yes, Hundley is the better athlete and he has a stronger arm. Grayson knows how to go through progressions, worked from under center or the shotgun, uses his eyes to manipulate the defense and was allowed to call audibles at the line of scrimmage. If you want a smart and accurate quarterback, then Grayson is the perfect developmental guy to target in the second or third round.|
Rams | St. Louis to work out Marcus Mariota Sat Apr 11, 01:27 PM
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will work out for the St. Louis Rams next week, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Mariota is an option for the Rams even though they traded for Nick Foles earlier this year. Foles feels like a temporary player for the Rams. Mariota could be added at 10th overall in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.|
Rams | Jameis Winston will work out for Rams Sat Apr 11, 01:24 PM
Florida State QB Jameis Winston is scheduled to work out for the St. Louis Rams next week, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Unless the Rams move up from 10th to 1st overall, we don't see Winston as an option for them. We feel that Winston will be the top pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.|
Rams | Kevin White to meet with STL Thu Apr 9, 12:25 PM
West Virginia WR Kevin White is scheduled to meet with the St. Louis Rams before the 2015 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: The St. Louis Rams are in need (again) of a top wide receiver (again) and White is a tremendous option for them if he is there with the No. 10 pick overall. White has tremendous talent and went through quite the transformation at West Virginia, going from raw and unsure to a top-flight, confident receiver. He's also strong - 23 reps on the bench at the Combine--so he can help carry a lot of boxes if/when the team moves to Los Angeles.|
Rams | Lance Kendricks took less from STL Tue Apr 7, 01:44 AM
St. Louis Rams TE Lance Kendricks took a slightly smaller offer to remain with the Rams rather than join the Atlanta Falcons during the offseason.
|Footballguys view: Kendricks cited his closer relationship with tight ends coach Rob Boras and promises of an expanded role in the passing game as his reasons for staying.|
Lance Kendricks player page
Rams | STL expecting more from Kenny Britt Sun Apr 5, 01:21 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt is expected to produce more in the passing game next season, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. 'I can kind of share the same issue Kenny does and that's we think he can be better. I think he can do better. He thinks he can be better. He thinks he can be more productive. He's looking forward to the offensive changes. I think yeah, we should see a lot more out of Kenny this year,' Fisher said.
|Footballguys view: Keep dreaming Fisher. There's no question Britt has the natural talent, but something is ALWAYS preventing him from playing up to his potential. Whether it's injury or motivation or off-field trouble, Britt has only shown flashes of what he can do as a pro. The team is considering a wide receiver like Kevin White (West Virginia) or Amari Cooper (Alabama) in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.|

Rams | Benny Cunningham on third down Fri Apr 3, 08:29 AM
St. Louis Rams RB Benny Cunningham will continue to be the third-down back in 2015.
|Footballguys view: That move makes a lot of sense for the Rams. Cunningham is a capable receiver out of the backfield, and he can make defenders miss in the open field.|
Benny Cunningham player page
Rams | Zac Stacy likely No. 2 Fri Apr 3, 08:28 AM
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy will likely be the backup to RB Tre Mason in 2015.
|Footballguys view: This is the best move for the Rams. Mason proved that he should be the lead back last year, and he's got explosive playmaking ability. Stacy gives the team quality depth at the position, but he's not as dynamic as Mason.|
Zac Stacy player page
Rams | Bryce Petty to meet with Rams Thu Apr 2, 09:44 AM
Baylor QB Bryce Petty has a meeting set up with the St. Louis Rams.
|Footballguys view: Yes, the Rams traded for Nick Foles...but that doesn't mean he's locked in as their QB of the future. Petty is a developmental quarterback who needs a lot of work. Any team interested in his should be looking at him as a mid-round pick.|
Rams | Amari Cooper visits St. Louis Wed Apr 1, 04:30 PM
Former Alabama WR Amari Cooper visited the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 1. The Rams possess the 10th overall pick in this year's draft.
|Footballguys view: Cooper is one of our favorite wide receivers in this draft class. Had he come out last year, we would have ranked him fourth in that all-time class behind Sammy Watkins, Odell Beckham and Mike Evans. Cooper is an elite-level route-runner with the speed to attack a defense vertically. He has the nuance of a 10-year pro, and the ability to turn short passes into long gains. Cooper is likely to be the top wideout drafted, and he should be a top-10 pick.|
Rams | Tim Barnes back with St. Louis Mon Mar 30, 09:22 PM
Free-agent C Tim Barnes agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams Monday, March 30. He is expected to sign Tuesday, March 31. It's a one-year deal with a maximum value of $1 million.
|Footballguys view: The Rams did not tender Barnes as a restricted free agent, allowing him to hit the open market. The Chiefs showed a bit of interest, but Barnes decided to stay with the Rams. At the end of the 2013 season, Barnes started four games in place of an injured Scott Wells at center. Barnes has appeared in 45 games for the Rams over the last three seasons while mostly playing special teams.|
Rams | St. Louis intends to draft a QB Fri Mar 27, 01:14 PM
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said it's the team's intention to draft a quarterback in this year's draft, despite trading for QB Nick Foles in the offseason. Florida State QB Jameis Winston and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota are expected to be off the board when the Rams pick with the 10th overall pick in the first round, but the Rams could also trade up to take one of them. The Rams could also look at the second tier of quarterbacks in this class, which includes Baylor QB Bryce Petty, UCLA QB Brett Hundley, Oregon QB Sean Mannion and Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson. Petty indicated that he has a visit planned with St. Louis. Rams QBs Austin Davis and Case Keenum will compete for the backup job, and the loser might be on the street if the Rams draft another quarterback.
|Footballguys view: The quarterbacks outside of the top-2 have a ton of question marks. We like Hundley and Grayson best here...but for different reasons. Hundley is a remarkable athlete with a strong arm, but he needs to learn how to go through progressions as a passer. Grayson uses his eyes to manipulate the defense, has a strong enough arm to make every throw but there are some mechanical issues to clean up.|

Rams | Brian Quick progressing Thu Mar 26, 06:49 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick (shoulder) is making progress in recovering from a torn rotator cuff and separated shoulder he suffered last October. Head coach Jeff Fisher has described Quick's injuries as significant and has not disclosed any timetable in regards to Quick's return. Fisher did say that Quick is coming along after a difficult time during the early stages of rehabilitation.
|Footballguys view: Quick was such a disappointment for most of his career, but last season he started to flash his potential. Over the first five games of 2014, Quick had 21 catches and three receiving touchdowns. If healthy, Quick should be able to pick up where he left off.|

Rams | Nick Foles didn't see trade coming Fri Mar 20, 11:33 AM
St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles said he didn't know the Philadelphia Eagles were looking to trade him, despite rumors swirling about their intentions, and the first time he learned about the move was the moment Eagles head coach Chip Kelly called him to say Foles had been dealt to the Rams.
|Footballguys view: He'll be alright. In fact, Foles is a better fit for the Rams offense than he is the Eagles offense. We'll see how he works in a more traditional offense in 2015.|

Rams | Jake Long could return Mon Mar 16, 02:16 AM
Free-agent OL Jake Long (Rams) could be back as the team's right tackle on a shorter deal that would pay less money. Any decision to sign Long to a new deal would not likely come until after the NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: The team will use Greg Robinson as their left tackle regardless of Long coming back. He's not the player he used to be, and Long struggles to stay healthy each season.|
Rams | Stefen Wisniewski may visit Sun Mar 15, 01:46 PM
Free-agent C Stefen Wisniewski (Raiders) may meet with the St. Louis Rams this week, according to his agent.Link to story
Rams | Kenny Britt can void deal Sat Mar 14, 11:25 AM
St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt could void his contract after only one season if he performs well enough during the 2015 season.
|Footballguys view: We'd be shocked if he was able to void this deal. Talent is no question with Britt, but staying focused and staying healthy have been problems throughout Britt's pro career.|

Rams | Kenny Britt re-signs with Rams Fri Mar 13, 10:14 PM
Free-agent WR Kenny Britt is coming back to the St. Louis Rams on a two-year, $14 million deal with $4.3 million guaranteed.
|Footballguys view: Britt had a career-high 48 catches last year, and he played a full 16 games for only the second time in his pro career. We'll see if he can keep trending upwards now that he's decided to stay with the Rams. We'll also see how he works with new quarterback Nick Foles. Britt is supremely talented, but he's rarely played up to that potential.|

Rams | Joseph Barksdale still an option Fri Mar 13, 05:43 PM
Free-agent OT Joseph Barksdale (Rams) is still receiving interest from the St. Louis Rams.
|Footballguys view: Barksdale is one of the best remaining right tackles on the open market. In addition to playing tackle, he can move inside to guard.|

Free-agent OT Justin Blalock (Rams) may visit the St. Louis Rams next week.Link to story
Rams | Nick Fairley joins St. Louis Fri Mar 13, 12:10 PM
Free-agent DT Nick Fairley (Lions) agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams Friday, March 13.
|Footballguys view: The Rams continue to add talent to their defense this offseason. Fairley has never played up to his potential as a pro--but the raw talent is certainly there. If he can stay healthy and motivated, then Fairley will give the Rams yet another player who can make opposing quarterbacks feel uncomfortable.|

Rams | Akeem Ayers joins St. Louis Thu Mar 12, 09:48 PM
Free-agent LB Akeem Ayers (Patriots) has signed a two-year contract with the St. Louis Rams worth $6 million with $3 million guaranteed, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: Originally a second-round pick for the Titans in 2011, Ayers did a good job as a part-time player for the Patriots last year. There are a few coaches on the staff that have familiarity with Ayers from his time with the Titans, and they'll know how to get the best out of him.|

Rams | Nick Fairley to visit Thu Mar 12, 12:30 PM
Free-agent DT Nick Fairley (Lions) will visit with the St. Louis Rams.
|Footballguys view: Fairley has always had potential, but the big defensive lineman has never played up to it. He needs a fresh start, and that's what he's going to get since the Lions declined to pick up his fifth-year option. Fairley is a disruptive player inside, and he can get interior pressure on the quarterback. Staying healthy and motivated have been problems for him. With the Rams, Fairley could work well in a rotation.|

Rams | Kenny Britt expected back with Rams Wed Mar 11, 06:47 PM
Free-agent WR Kenny Britt (Rams) is expected to re-sign with the St. Louis Rams soon, in the opinion of NFL Media columnist Michael Silver.
|Footballguys view: Brian Quick, Stedman Bailey, and Britt would split the somewhat meager production at the wide receiver position for the Rams. Lance Kendricks and Jared Cook will also get a good share of targets as one of the highest paid TE duos in the league, so the fantasy prospects in the Rams passing game aren't exactly bright.|

Rams | Nick Foles officially acquired by STL Tue Mar 10, 06:52 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has officially been acquired by the St. Louis Rams. The Rams also receive a 2015 sixth-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round draft pick.
|Footballguys view: Foles will run a more traditional offense under Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. The offensive line is a work in progress and Foles isn't known to be that mobile anyway. It could be a rough year for the young quarterback, and his fantasy stock is trending down.|
