Rams | Nick Foles instilling confidence    Wed Jul 1, 08:09 PM

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles' command of the huddle is something that has been missing from the quarterback position in recent years, according to TE Jared Cook. 'Hopefully, he can make all of us better,' Cook said. 'This is something we've needed the past few years -- somebody to fill the mold, step in, grab the ram by the horns and say, 'Let's go, guys! This is our time!''

Footballguys view: Foles is certainly an upgrade from the likes of Austin Davis and Kellen Clemens, but with a questionable offensive line and WR/TE group that lacks star power, this team is still going to be run-heavy when they are successful at controlling the game and inconsistent when they are not. Foles has a ton of motivation playing for a long-term extension or free agent value depending on the Rams approach to his future, but there probably isn't any fantasy profit to be had here.

Rams | Todd Gurley to meet with doctor    Fri Jun 26, 03:14 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) said he is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in a few weeks to have his surgically repaired knee examined.

Footballguys view: There are some who believe Gurley could be ready for the start of training camp....or at least ready to do some light work at that time. Some feel Gurley may not be ready at the start of the regular season. Either way, we know the Rams are going to be cautious with Gurley. He's got superstar potential and should be an impact player when healthy.

Rams | Todd Gurley likely for training camp?    Wed Jun 24, 08:00 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) is eyeing next month's training camp as a return to the field. 'That is definitely a goal that I'm shooting for,' Gurley told NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon from the NFL Rookie Symposium Wednesday, June 24, 'Just to be able to get out there and do at least some individual stuff. It's looking pretty realistic. This month I'll be in St. Louis rehabbing, so hopefully I can aim for (training camp).'

Footballguys view: This would be huge news for the Rams, who took some criticism for using their first pick on a guy who could be on the PUP list when September rolls around. Gurley was the top back in the draft without a doubt, but the injury concern was a big one for some teams. That could be a moot point come late July. Gurley has the potential to be a special running back even behind a mediocre offensive line. We see him as a low end RB2 or a high end RB3 with potential to be much more.

Rams | RB Mason has slimmed down    Mon Jun 22, 09:10 PM

Joe Lyons, from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports that St. Louis Rams second-year running back Tre Mason has lost weight this offseason. He's down to between 195 and 200 pounds in an effort to help improve his speed. Mason will spend the next month or so working alongside cornerback and teammate Janoris Jenkins with trainer Tony Villiani at XPE Sports in Florida.

Footballguys view: The Rams selected potential superstar running back Todd Gurley in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft--even after Mason turned in a solid rookie season in 2014. Mason should begin the season as the starter as Gurley has yet to practice this offseason as he continues to rehab the knee injury he suffered last year in college at Georgia. Once Gurley is healthy, expect the Rams to ease himi into the lineup and start chipping away at Mason's touches.

Rams | Only first 2 years of Gurley's contract guaranteed    Sun Jun 21, 08:46 PM

Ben Volin, from the Boston Globe, reports that only the first two years of St. Louis Rams rookie RB Todd Gurley's contract are guaranteed. If the Rams cut him because of his preexisting knee injury, then the final two years of his contract are void. That's an unusually structured deal given that Gurley was a premium pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Footballguys view: The Rams had to protect themselves due to Gurley's knee injury, and that's what they did with this contract. Gurley has superstar potential if healthy, and he's betting on himself by signing this deal. He could start the season on the PUP list, and the Rams may have to start Tre Mason at the beginning of the year. When healthy, Gurley could be eased into the starting role. His ADP of RB24 (5.05) in 12-team PPR leagues seems a bit optimistic for a player who has yet to practice this offseason. We LOVE Gurley, but proceed with caution until we know more about his injury status.

Rams | STL interested in Aaron Ross    Sun Jun 21, 04:16 PM

Free-agent CB Aaron Ross (Ravens) worked out for the St. Louis Rams last week, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Ross spent last year on Injured Reserve because of an Achilles' injury, but now he's trying to generate some interest on the open market. If added, Ross would compete as a backup to make the final roster for the Rams.

Rams | OC impressed with Tavon Austin    Sat Jun 20, 10:59 AM

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin was impressive during the offseason workouts, according to offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti. 'Tavon Austin's had a great offseason,' Cignetti said. 'It starts in the classroom. He's learning. He's paying attention. He's bringing it to the practice field. You just see it from his route running. What a difference. His effort, his attention to details. Every day out there, the guy's made plays.'

Footballguys view: Austin is super quick and difficult to tackle in the open field, but he's yet to make much of an impact at the pro level. He's no better than 4th on the depth chart right now in St. Louis, and Austin is unlikely to climb unless injuries hit. In return leagues he'll have some value, and he might be a cheap flier to take in certain matchups in DFS.

Rams | Todd Gurley's availability still unknown    Fri Jun 19, 07:34 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley's (knee) timetable is still up in the air as he continues to rehabilitate from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Footballguys view: Fisher said Gurley has been doing well but could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list if necessary. On the PUP list to start the season, Gurley would be forced out of action for the first six weeks of the regular season. After that, the Rams would then have three weeks to decide whether or not to activate him or put him on season-ending Injured Reserve. Fisher added that if Gurley does not go on the PUP list, he could play sooner than people think.

Rams | Todd Gurley doesn't practice    Tue Jun 16, 04:06 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) did not practice at minicamp Tuesday, June 16. He is still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: We won't see Gurley practice until training camp. Even then, the Rams should be cautious when easing him back into the swing of things. Gurley has superstar potential, but recovering from this knee injury could slow his production early in his rookie season.

Rams | Looking to lock up Nick Foles    Tue Jun 16, 12:22 AM

The St. Louis Rams are looking to lock up QB Nick Foles to a long-term contract. The two sides have had initial talks, and they're expected to ramp up leading up to the season.

Footballguys view: The Rams have moved on from the Sam Bradford era, and Foles looks to be the guy they're going to rely on as the starting quarterback in the near future. The reported target date is before Week 1 of the regular season. That's a bit odd considering Foles has yet to play a down for them and he's coming off a shoulder injury that cut short his 2014 season with the Eagles.

Rams | Chris Long almost 100 percent    Sat Jun 13, 09:10 PM

St. Louis Rams DE Chris Long (ankle) has been encouraged by his progress during organized team activities (OTAs), and he feels like he is almost back to his old self after missing 10 games due to a unique ankle injury in 2014. Long said he is almost back to 100 percent healthy.

Footballguys view: Long missed most of last season, but he did return for the final five games of 2014. He only had one sack last year as he didn't look like his old self. Long has a $12.5 million cap number this year, so getting him back to full strength (and full production) is a must for the Rams.

Rams | Sean Mannion signs deal    Fri Jun 12, 08:27 PM

St. Louis Rams QB Sean Mannion signed a deal with the team Friday, June 12. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: We're not crazy about Mannion's upside for dynasty owners. Sure, he's got a big arm and can move around a little. His problems come with pressure. He's frazzled too easily when under duress, and it seriously impacts his decision-making skills. We'll have to see him show more poise as a passer against NFL rushers before getting excited about his long-term outlook.

Rams | Todd Gurley signs deal    Fri Jun 12, 04:50 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley signed a contract with the team Friday, June 12. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: We believe Gurley could be one of the best running backs in the game when healthy. He's currently recovering from an ACL injury he suffered last year at Georgia. There's a chance that Gurley is held out of most (if not all) of the preseason as he continues to recover. We could see the Rams ease him into action as the regular season starts.

Rams | Unlikely to pursue Evan Mathis     Fri Jun 12, 04:43 PM

Free-agent OG Evan Mathis (Eagles) is not expected to be an option for the St. Louis Rams unless his asking price drops.

Footballguys view: The Rams were one of the teams linked to Mathis after the Eagles released him on Thursday. There is a need at the guard position for the Rams, but they'll want to get Mathis at a reasonable price.

Rams | Tavon Austin ready to step up?    Thu Jun 11, 10:26 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin said that he isn't worried about his struggles in his first two NFL seasons and is ready to step up in 2015.

Footballguys view: Austin has a part-time role in the Rams offense, rarely getting more than two or three targets per game. We don't expect that to change this season, regardless of Austin being ready to "step up." The role just isn't there for him with Brian Quick, Kenny Britt and Stedman Bailey ahead of him on the depth chart.

Rams | Todd Gurley doing what he can    Tue Jun 9, 04:21 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) worked out with athletic trainers on the sideline Tuesday, June 9, during organized team activities. He continues to rehabilitate from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Gurley is still unable to do much work laterally. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Gurley is progressing well, however. 'He's doing a great job with his rehab. He's very anxious. 'Fisher said.' He's probably a little frustrated, but he's anxious to get out there right now, so that's going well.'

Footballguys view: Gurley is a fierce competitor, but the team is going to bring him along at a reasonable pace. He may want to do more, but caution is needed with this knee injury. Gurley has superstar ability, and the rookie from Georgia reminds us of Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) because of his size/speed/power combination.

Rams | Bud Sasser placed on waivers    Mon Jun 8, 09:44 PM

The St. Louis Rams placed WR Bud Sasser (heart) on waivers Monday, June 11.

Footballguys view: Sasser was diagnosed with a heart condition before rookie minicamp earlier this year, and the Rams wouldn't clear him. He got a second opinion from the Mayo clinic and believes that he is fine. We'll see if another team wants to pick him up and clear him medically. Sasser was a sixth-round pick by the Rams in the 2015 NFL draft. He's got ideal size (6'3" 219 pounds) but is more of a slot receiver than outside weapon.

Rams | Kenny Britt wants to be better    Mon Jun 8, 05:15 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt said he has a chip on his shoulder from not performing up to his expectations the last six seasons. Britt added that he has a lot to prove in his second season with the Rams. 'I don't want to leave this season saying I left something out there on the field,' Britt said.

Footballguys view: At least he "wants" to be better. Britt has always had the physical talent and the upside to be one of the top receivers in the game today. However, over the course of his pro career Britt has been set back by injuries and inconsistencies. We'll see if he can stay healthy and start to play up to his potential now that he's catching passes from new Rams starter Nick Foles.

Rams | Nick Foles praised by teammates    Sat Jun 6, 12:09 AM

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles was praised by WR Kenny Britt and TE Jared Cook for his performance during OTAs. 'We love him,' Britt said Thursday, June 4. 'Great deep ball, he puts it on the money every time. He can throw every pass in the book.'

Footballguys view: Foles gets a fresh start with the Rams this year. The team is going to feature a ground game that has Tre Mason and eventually rookie (and potential superstar) Todd Gurley. Foles should be able to benefit from the looks he'll get, and play-action passing should be a staple of the offense.

Rams | Todd Gurley still far from practicing    Thu Jun 4, 07:17 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) still has a lot of progress to make before he's able to practice, but he did limited work on the side during organized team activities Thursday, June 4. It has already been speculated that Gurley could begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Footballguys view: The Rams have Tre Mason to work effectively as the starter until Gurley is ready. He could start training camp on the PUP and come back at any time. Even if he starts the regular season on PUP, Gurley is a player every fantasy owner needs to monitor. Gurley is a younger version of Marshawn Lynch with power, speed and tenacity all being hallmarks of his game.

Rams | Brian Quick limited in practice    Thu Jun 4, 06:45 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, June 4, as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.

Footballguys view: Quick started off last season hot after two years of disappointing performances. In the Rams first four games, Quick scored three touchdowns and had over 60 receiving yards each week. If healthy, he should once again be the leading receiver for the Rams and a player fantasy owners should add. His current ADP is WR53 (11.09) in 12-team PPR leagues. He could easily outperform that draft position in 2015.

Rams | Todd Gurley likely will be limited    Thu Jun 4, 02:21 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) likely will be limited during organized team activities Thursday, June 4. Gurley has been running but has not been cleared to practice yet and does not have the ability to move laterally like he will need in order to play.

Footballguys view: The Rams will be cautious with Gurley, and he could start the season on the PUP or the Reserve list. When he does come back though, Gurley will be playing behind a line that is taking on a lot of zone-blocking concepts and running the ball a lot. His ADP sits at 5.06, as the 24th back off the board. That's going to put him as an RB3, which is a safe place to grab him. Still, there is risk in taking him this early as we don't know how the line will respond to the new scheme (and it was shaky last season), how close to 100 percent he will be at all this year and how the offense will perform overall.

Rams | STL expected to use more zone blocking    Thu Jun 4, 02:06 PM

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti is expected to use more of the zone-blocking scheme in the running game this season. The team will continue to use the power-blocking scheme but hopes the zone blocking can help the running game be more productive.

Footballguys view: In theory, this should help the offense but this is a line which was ranked as the 31st in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. Even if you take that with a mountain-sized grain of salt, it's not a pretty picture. It wouldn't be a shock if, as we have seen in the past, the offensive line struggled at first, which would make it difficult for the rest of the offense to get going.

Rams | Bud Sasser to be released    Thu Jun 4, 01:09 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Bud Sasser will be released since he did not receive clearance to practice because of a heart condition, according to sources.

Footballguys view: It's disappointing, but as he has gone to multiple doctors for permission to play and been denied, it sounds like he should call it a day. On the more positive side, the Rams signed him to his contract and he gets to keep his $113,737 signing bonus.

Rams | Bud Sasser signs    Tue Jun 2, 06:08 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Bud Sasser signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Rams love big-bodies wide receivers, and that's why they snared Sasser with a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He's got good size, and he knows how to use his size to box out smaller defenders in the red zone. Sasser isn't going to win many races downfield, but he'll work underneath routes and consistently come up with the ball.

Rams | A return for Quick in Week 1 is realistic    Sun May 31, 06:46 PM

Nick Wagoneer, from ESPN.com, reports that a return of St. Louis Rams wide receiver Brian Quick in Week 1 of the regular season is a realistic possibility.

Footballguys view: Quick suffered a torn rotator cuff and separated shoulder last October. This injury is projected to keep him out of most, if not all, of the team's OTAs. We'll know more about his recovery when the team starts training camp later this year.

Rams | Trey Watts suspended four games    Fri May 29, 04:11 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Trey Watts has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Footballguys view: Watts is only a special teams player for the Rams. With this suspension, don't be surprised if/when the Rams release Watts.

Rams | Todd Gurley preparing mentally    Mon May 11, 03:28 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) isn't able to participate in group drills just yet as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but he's still making other preparations. 'I'm just gaining mental [repetitions], basically just making sure I know what's going on.' Gurley said he listens to play calls, goes through plays by himself and watches the team during walkthroughs in order to improve his knowledge of the playbook.

Footballguys view: It won't take Gurley long to get up to speed at the pro level. We could see him eased in as training camp hits with the idea that he'll be near 100 percent by the start of the regular season. Gurley can begin his rookie season splitting time with second-year back Tre Mason, but he has superstar potential and he could be the bellcow back for the Rams in the near future.

Rams | Zac Stacy traded to Jets    Sat May 2, 05:27 PM

Former St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has been traded to the New York Jets in exchange for the Jets' 224 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The Rams clear up the backfield a little bit and it's now down to Todd Gurley and Tre Mason. Both backs could struggle behind this offensive line and against what could be stacked fronts as well as hurting each other's value. This is a tough fantasy situation going forward.

Rams | STL ends wait for Sean Mannion    Fri May 1, 11:04 PM

The St. Louis Rams selected Oregon State QB Sean Mannion in Round 3 (No. 89 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft Friday, May 1.

Footballguys view: Sean Mannion ahead of Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley is a surprise, but a nice pick. He's got an average delivery and isn't remotely mobile, but has the raw tools if the Rams are patient. He may end up as the No. 2 to Nick Foles, but he shouldn't see the field any time soon.

Rams | Todd Gurley may start on PUP list    Fri May 1, 02:09 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) could begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he could be ready for the second week of camp, according to sources.

Footballguys view: After his knee checked out, reports were that he would be ready for Week 1. The team will be cautious with him heading into camp though. The knee isn't what hurts his fantasy value - the poor offensive line is. He might be out of the top five in rookie fantasy drafts and right now appears to be no more than a RB3 for redraft until we see how things shake out.

Rams | STL talk with Zac Stacy's reps    Fri May 1, 02:08 PM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy's representatives had a productive discussion with the team, but there is no decision on Stacy's future with the team.

Footballguys view: After Todd Gurley was drafted, Stacy tweeted out 'yikes.' While he quickly deleted the tweet, we understand his concern. He's a third wheel behind Gurley and Tre Mason, at best. He and his agents want him to be traded or released, but there isn't a big market for him.

Rams | Todd Gurley to be treated cautiously    Fri May 1, 10:25 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) will not be rushed into action in the 2015 season, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. 'We're not gonna rush it,' Fisher said. 'We may well be a little on the conservative side. But this is the running back of our future. It makes no sense to subject him to or put him in a bad situation sooner than we have to.'

Footballguys view: Of course the Rams will be careful with him, though he will be ready to go by Week 1. Expect him to trade snaps with Tre Mason, limiting his redraft value to maybe an RB3. Down the road he should be much better than that, but initially, splitting carries and behind a shaky offensive line, that's his ceiling.

Rams | Zac Stacy wants out    Fri May 1, 08:10 AM

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has asked the team for a trade or to be released after the team selected RB Todd Gurley in the first round of the NFL Draft, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Stacy is going to get his wish granted, but we don't know how many teams will be lined up to add him via trade. He was replaced as the starter last year by Tre Mason, and now with Gurley he will be pushed even further down the depth chart.

Rams | Todd Gurley selected 10th overall    Thu Apr 30, 09:16 PM

Georgia RB Todd Gurley was selected 10th overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft Thursday, April 30.

Footballguys view: The Rams can pick up offensive line players in the second round and Gurley - when healthy he is a phenomenal talent. That said, this is not a great fantasy spot for Gurley right now and will hurt him in rookie drafts. He may slide out of the top five in fact.

Rams | Brian Quick to participate in OTAs?    Wed Apr 29, 01:43 AM

St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick (shoulder) is progressing well after shoulder surgery, and head coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday, April 28, that the receiver could possible participate in organized team activities (OTAs) with some protection.

Footballguys view: The Rams re-signed Kenny Britt in part because of uncertainty about Quick's status. If Quick can participate in OTAs, that's a big win for the Rams. It's more likely that Quick will get up to speed in time for the preseason. The Rams are unlikely to have a wide receiver that we count on as more than bye/injury filler with an uninspiring passing game and Nick Foles at the helm.

Rams | Brandon Scherff could be option for STL    Sat Apr 25, 06:05 PM

Iowa OT Brandon Scherff could be atop of the team's draft board if he slipped to them in the 2015 NFL Draft at No. 10, but recent chatter is he's likely to be drafted before then. The team is unlikely to trade up to acquire him.

Footballguys view: Scherff may be on the board when the Rams come up at 10th overall. He may be best suited as a guard at the pro level because of his struggles against elite edge-rushers. Scherff is a mauler as a run-blocker, and he plays with a nasty attitude that will help any ground game.

Rams | Andrus Peat won't slip past St. Louis?    Thu Apr 23, 10:47 PM

Stanford OT Andrus Peat won't slip past the St. Louis Rams with the No. 12 in the 2015 NFL Draft and could go even earlier, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Peat is arguably the best offensive tackle in this draft class, and he could easily be a top-10 pick. He's got the proper size, hand usage and athleticism to develop into a fine left tackle.

Rams | Meeting with two OT prospects    Wed Apr 22, 12:40 PM

Pittsburgh OT T.J. Clemmings and Miami (Fla.) OT Ereck Flowers are scheduled to meet with the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 22.

Footballguys view: The Rams have thrown a lot of resources at their offensive line, but it still is basically in shambles heading into the 2015 campaign, which should give Tre Mason owners pause. Clemmings is a potentially strong right tackle that needs development. Flowers is flawed as a pass blocker, but teams love his run blocking. Both should be gone by the end of the second round.

St. Louis Rams OG Brandon Washington signed his exclusive rights tender Monday, April 20. Restricted free-agents QB Austin Davis, TE Cory Harkey and S Rodney McLeod were also re-signed.

Footballguys view: Davis is the player we'd like to highlight here. With all the changes at quarterback this offseason, we should see Davis compete for the backup job behind Nick Foles. He'll compete with Case Keenum and maybe a draft pick for the right to the second-string job.

Rams | Bud Dupree visits St. Louis    Fri Apr 17, 10:20 PM

Kentucky DE/LB Bud Dupree visited the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17.

Footballguys view: Dupree is a freakish athlete who has drawn comparisons to Jamie Collins (Patriots) in the scouting community. He has the burst to get after the quarterback, and he's smooth enough to cover in open space. Look for Dupree to come off the board in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Rams | St. Louis hosts Brett Hundley    Fri Apr 17, 09:56 PM

UCLA QB Brett Hundley worked out for the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17.

Footballguys view: Hundley is one of the most intriguing prospects in this draft class. He's crazy athletic and has a strong arm, reminding some in the scouting community of a young Randall Cunningham. Hundley holds onto the ball too long as a passer and needs to show improved ability to read defenses as he drops back.

Rams | Sean Mannion works out    Fri Apr 17, 04:42 PM

Oregon State QB Sean Mannion was scheduled to work out for the St. Louis Rams Friday, April 17, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Mannion is a big pocket passer who should come off the board on the last day of the draft. He's no immediate starter, but Mannion does have some tools that some team may try to develop.

Rams | Have more pre-draft visits scheduled    Thu Apr 16, 06:36 PM

Louisville OT Jamon Brown, Arizona State OG Jamil Douglas, Duke OG Laken Tomlinson, Florida OG Tre Jackson, Hobart OG Ali Marpet and Stanford OT Andrus Peat are all scheduled to visit the St. Louis Rams prior to the NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Notice a trend there? That's a lot of offensive line players for a team in desperate need of them. Expect the Rams to go hard to fix that offensive line.

Rams | St. Louis hosts Marcus Mariota    Thu Apr 16, 06:17 PM

Oregon QB Marcus Mariota worked out for the St. Louis Rams Thursday, April 16.

Footballguys view: Are the Rams just kicking tires or are they not sure about Nick Foles? Given Foles' 2014...that isn't a bad idea. The team could surprise some and actually be in the market for a quarterback...although next year's draft class is much better at the position.

Rams | Dorial Green-Beckham visits Rams    Thu Apr 16, 02:08 PM

Oklahoma WR Dorial Green-Beckham visited with the St. Louis Rams in the first week of April.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has a ton of talent but a penchant for trouble off the field. The Rams need receiver help, but they might want to pass on a guy who was kicked off a team and has had multiple incidents involving drugs. He has top-10 talent, but Green-Beckham may fall to the second round because of character concerns.

Louisville WR DeVante Parker met with the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 15. He is considered the third-best wide receiver in this year's draft behind Alabama WR Amari Cooper and West Virginia WR Kevin White. The Rams also had a pre-draft visit with Cooper in the first week of April, and White will visit with the Rams next week.

Footballguys view: Now that the Rams have Nick Foles, they need to give him weapons. There is a good chance both Kevin White and Amari Cooper could be off the board by the time they pick at 10th overall. If that's the case, Parker is a good third option. Parker has good height, speed and great ball skills on deep targets. He'd be a potent weapon for Foles.

Rams | Benardrick McKinney visits    Wed Apr 15, 07:24 AM

Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney visited the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday, April 14.

Footballguys view: McKinney is a hard-nosed player who arrives at the ball with natural violence. He has a great nose for the ball, and McKinney does a good job when scraping and flowing to the play. He's likely to be a late first- or early second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Rams | Looking at other college QBs    Sun Apr 12, 07:04 AM

Florida State QB Jameis Winston and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota are on the St. Louis Rams radar screen, but the Rams are also looking at Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson, UCLA QB Brett Hundley, and Oregon State QB Sean Mannion.

Footballguys view: That's a wise idea for the Rams. This isn't a strong quarterback class, but they might grab a developmental guy like one of the players listed. We'd like Grayson best in that position. Yes, Hundley is the better athlete and he has a stronger arm. Grayson knows how to go through progressions, worked from under center or the shotgun, uses his eyes to manipulate the defense and was allowed to call audibles at the line of scrimmage. If you want a smart and accurate quarterback, then Grayson is the perfect developmental guy to target in the second or third round.
