Los Angeles Chargers S Rayshawn Jenkins has been lining up at free safety during offseason workouts.
|Footballguys view: A fourth-round pick out of Miami in 2017, Jenkins is big, fast and physical. He can play in the box, but he's got the ball instincts to work as a two-deep safety as well.|

Seahawks | Seattle signs two draft picks Thu May 17, 04:42 PM
Seattle Seahawks fifth-round draft choices LB Shaquem Griffin and S Tre Flowers signed four-year deals with the Seahawks Thursday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Griffin had 18.5 sacks over the last two years playing OLB at Central Florida. He flies all over the field, can cover in space and play special teams if need be. Amniotic Band Syndrome caused his left hand to get amputated at the age of four, but that hasn't slowed Griffin down whatsoever.|

Lions | Tracy Walker signed by Lions Tue May 15, 05:43 PM
Detroit Lions S Tracy Walker signed his four-year rookie deal Tuesday, May 15. Financial terms were not disclosed. OL Brett Kendrick was waived in a corresponding move.
|Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Louisiana-Lafayette, Walker is a former AAU basketball star who transitioned to the gridiron late in his prep career. Walker played all over the field for the Ragin' Cajuns, and he can line up at corner, nickel corner, boundary safety...plus stood out on special teams. He's not afraid to mix it up as a run defender and could be a valuable player for the Lions going forward.|
Jets | Kenny Vaccaro meets with Jets Tue May 15, 02:21 PM
Free-agent FS Kenny Vaccaro (Saints) is officially visiting the New York Jets Tuesday, May 15, as expected.
|Footballguys view: Vaccaro played with a core muscle injury during 2017 but had surgery to repair the problem in December. He's declared himself to be at full strength for some time now, and we should see some team out there willing to add him to a 'prove it' deal.|

Chargers | Derwin James to move around Fri May 11, 11:43 PM
Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James is an 'alpha dog,' according to head coach Anthony Lynn, and Lynn said the defensive staff will be creative with how James is used.
|Footballguys view: James is an 'alpha' and can step on the field and immediately be one of the most intimidating players in the league. He played linebacker (both MIKE and SAM), plus outside corner, plus nickel corner and oh yeah - both safety positions during his time in college with the Seminoles. We can't wait to see him fly around the field and help set the tone for a fierce Chargers defense in 2018.|
Steelers | Terrell Edmunds works at different spots Fri May 11, 07:09 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers S Terrell Edmunds said he lined up at linebacker and safety during practice Friday, May 11.
|Footballguys view: The Steelers first-round pick in 2018 moved all over the field during his time in college with the Hokies. Edmunds has played cornerback, nickel corner, free safety and 'rover' over the last three years. It's not a surprise the Steelers are moving him around. His versatility has to be an attractive asset given the team selected him on the first day of the draft even though most felt he would be a mid-round pick.|

Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Quinn was this year's 'Mr. Irrelevant' as the final pick in the draft. The 'other' guy at SMU behind Courtland Sutton (Broncos), Quinn reminds some in the scouting community of Adam Humphries. He's buried on the depth chart but has good footwork to get open against zone and concentration through the catch point. In super deep dynasty leagues we'll be monitoring his progress.|

|Footballguys view: James has dynamic slot potential at 5'10" 183 pounds. He plays with great foot frequency and can cut on a dime without losing much speed. James should compete for a reserve spot this year and can contribute as a return man as well.|
Ravens | Derwin James almost a Raven Fri May 4, 11:14 PM

Seahawks | Earl Thomas wants to be in Seattle? Thu May 3, 09:40 PM
Seattle Seahawks FS Earl Thomas won't hold out, according to general manager John Schneider, and Schneider said he has a 'sense' that Thomas wants to remain a Seahawk.
|Footballguys view: That's an interesting statement considering the team has been trying to trade him for some time now. The draft is over, so the chances of the team moving on from Thomas now is rather slim. He'll play one more year with Seattle (barring some trade) and leave on the open market in 2019.|

Titans | Kendrick Lewis signs with Titans Wed May 2, 12:15 PM
Free-agent FS Kendrick Lewis (Ravens) signed an undisclosed deal with the Tennessee Titans Wednesday, May 2.
|Footballguys view: The Ravens let Lewis go over a year ago, and he was out of the league in 2017. Lewis had a thigh injury that limited him to just 17 snaps during his last year with the Ravens in 2016. There's no telling what the Titans are going to get out of the veteran safety.|

NFL | Eric Reid files grievance Wed May 2, 09:53 AM
Free-agent FS Eric Reid (49ers) filed a collusion grievance against the NFL Wednesday, May 2.
|Footballguys view: Reid is not drawing much interest on the open market despite the fact that he is coming off a strong 2017 campaign for the 49ers. This situation revolves around Reid's support of Colin Kaepernick in kneeling for the National Anthem and how NFL teams may have 'blacklisted' Reid due to his stance. That may be incredibly difficult to actually prove, but it sounds like Reid is going to attempt to do just that.|
