Arizona Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu (knee) played for the first time in Week 2 against the New York Giants since suffering two torn knee ligaments last December. He was used in limited packages against the Giants when the team used seven defensive backs. Mathieu finished the game with one tackle.

He can be dropped in shallow bench leagues, and maybe more, but be ready to pick him up if there's news of any involvement in the potent Peyton Manning offense.

Seattle Seahawks FS Earl Thomas will no longer return punts for the team, and he'll be replaced by WR Bryan Walters. Head coach Pete Carroll said Thomas could remain in the mix if the team needs him, but Walters and a mix of others will be the primary returners.

Footballguys view: This seems like a wise choice, given how valuable Thomas is to the defense. There are other guys on the roster who are less valuable across the board, who can do the job.

Detroit Lions FS Glover Quin (undisclosed) left the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions in the fourth quarter Monday, Sept. 8. He hobbled off the field with an undisclosed apparent lower body injury.
