Footballguys view: It's a great combination for the Jets. We're excited about Pryor's upside in the pros. The rookie is an intimidating presence and he arrives at the play with natural violence. He can play close to the line of scrimmage, but Pryor can also turn to cover downfield.

Bills | Aaron Williams praised for versatility    Tue Jul 8, 06:13 PM

Buffalo Bills DB Aaron Williams recently received praise from defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz regarding his versatility. Schwartz said Williams can range across the field and cover man-to-man, adding that he was most impressed with Williams' physicality.

Footballguys view: Williams might not be the strong safety, which is the more attractive safety position for IDP leagues, but the injury to Kiko Alonso will make the defense leakier, which should bump up his tackle numbers. He's a decent #2 DB/safety to target.

Footballguys view: Church might be the #1 IDP safety to target now that Sean Lee is gone for the year. The Cowboys now have little in the way of tackling machines in their linebacker corps, which means there will be a lot of messes for Church to clean up.

Packers | Secondary taking shape    Mon Jul 7, 11:17 PM

Green Bay Packers CB Tramon Williams and CB Sam Shields were the starting outside corners, CB Micah Hyde was the starting free safety, and Morgan Burnett was the starting strong safety during OTAs, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demvosky. CB Casey Hayward played in the slot in nickel packages, and S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix played free safety when Hyde moved to corner in certain nickel and dime packages.

Footballguys view: The Packers have a talented secondary and they might have plugged their hole at safety with Clinton-Dix, or even Hyde, who is a young player on the rise. It will be exciting to watch them square off with Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford twice this year.

Bears | Craig Steltz could be on bubble    Sat Jul 5, 11:12 AM

Chicago Bears SS Craig Steltz could be on the roster bubble during training camp if SS Adrian Wilson shows that he is healthy during camp.

Footballguys view: Wilson is not the same player he used to be, but he's better than Steltz if healthy. The Bears have made numerous changes to their defense, and they should be much better on that side of the ball in 2014.

Bears | Injuries could hurt Chris Conte     Sat Jul 5, 09:27 AM

Chicago Bears FS Chris Conte (shoulder) could win one of the starting spots in training camp, but injuries could play a role. Conte sat out for the entire offseason program. "We'll see," Bears defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said. "I'll wait until camp rolls around and I'll get a report, and they'll let us know who's available and how much they can do. Whenever he's available, we'll start working him in and get him up to speed, get him the reps. He's been in the meetings. So he knows what we're doing. We're going to start over pretty much in training camp with our installation. So a lot of it will be review, and then we'll add some things as we go that we didn't cover in OTAs and the coaches' sessions. He's gotten the mental work in, in the class room. So it'll just be getting the physical reps. When he's ready, he's ready. We'll work him in."

Lions | James Ihedigbo believes in new team    Fri Jul 4, 03:14 PM

Detroit Lions SS James Ihedigbo believes in his new team, and believes his team can get back to the top. 'It's one of those things, you can feel it,' Ihedigbo said. 'With this team, I can feel the makings of a championship-DNA team. Are we willing to sacrifice? That's the question, and I know we are. There are guys in this locker room that are willing to pay the price, whatever it is, to put the work in to be a champion. Yeah, we definitely have that championship DNA.'

Footballguys view: We'll see if the Lions can make a push for the playoffs this year. They have a strong offense, and they've made quality additions to their passing game. They've also made some moves on defense to improve their team.
