Chargers | Eric Weddle likely will be held out    Fri Aug 28, 08:11 PM

San Diego Chargers SS Eric Weddle (neck) is not expected to play in the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29, because of neck soreness. Weddle should be fine for the start of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Weddle is a key cog in this defense and the Chargers are smart to protect him. We don't expect him to appear in the final preseason game either. The overall defense is a bit shaky, so it's no more than a fantasy defense to use in tandem with another middle-of-the-road team.

Seattle Seahawks FS Earl Thomas (shoulder) is on track to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: The Giants are in need of good news, and this is at least a little bit of it. Collins was supposed to be a big part of the secondary and with as many injuries to the safeties as the Giants have, having him getting closer to the field is a big deal.

New York Giants S Justin Currie (ankle) fractured his ankle in a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, Aug. 22.

Seahawks | Earl Thomas at full health    Thu Aug 20, 05:38 PM

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks FS Earl Thomas (shoulder) has a fully healed shoulder; he's just working on getting the strength he needs to protect it. He could still play in the regular season opener.
