San Francisco 49ers LB Kwon Alexander (pectoral) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 17, but is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game. DE Dee Ford (hamstring, quadriceps) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.

Footballguys view: The 49ers are about as healthy as they have been all season on defense heading into their most important game of the season.

CB Logan Ryan (illness) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Brown could get back on the field for this game, although the rookie Long has played very well in his absence during the playoffs. Jackson should be on the spot against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs passing attack.

Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly announced his retirement from professional football Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Footballguys view: This retirement was a surprise to most around the league. A top-10 pick back in the 2012 NFL draft, Kuechly was a star and a key piece of the Panthers defense for years. He compiled seven Pro Bowls, five All-Pros, and Defensive Rookie of the Year (2012) and Defensive Player of the Year (2013) honors. Do not be surprised to see Kuechly in the Pro Football Hall of Fame some day.

  Packers | Green Bay moves on to NFC Championship    Sun Jan 12, 10:02 PM

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers finished 16-of-27 for 243 yards and two touchdowns as the team raced out to a 21-3 lead before holding on for a 28-23 victory in Sunday's NFC Divisional Round playoff game. RB Aaron Jones ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, while Rodgers added 14 more yards on the ground. WR Davante Adams hauled in eight catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while TE Jimmy Graham was the only other Packer with more than one catch, tallying three receptions for 49 yards. LBs Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith each recorded two of Green Bay's five sacks, while LB Blake Martinez led all tacklers with 10 stops (seven solo).

Footballguys view: Rodgers made a few unreal throws when he needed to and the Packers made a 21-3 hold up. They'll face a San Francisco team that thumped them 37-8 during the regular season.

Footballguys view: Alexander being back for the 49ers is great news for their defense. He'll be able to help the 49ers defense as they try to slow down RB Dalvin Cook and the Vikings on Saturday. Alexander can also help out in coverage and make targeting TE Kyle Rudolph more complicated.

Footballguys view: So long as RB Derrick Henry is good to go, the Titans have a chance. They'll be using Henry to soften up the Ravens defense. Humphries is out at the wide receiver position but Raymond is back for the Titans this week.

San Francisco 49ers LB Kwon Alexander (pectoral) is believed to have a good chance to play in the Divisional Round playoff game, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Alexander may be able to do the same thing that J.J. Watt did with the Texans. Like Watt, Alexander is coming back from a pectoral injury. He's still on Injured Reserve but did resume practicing earlier this week. We'll see if the team activates him from IR in order to play in the Divisional Round. Getting Alexander back on the field would boost the 49ers defense.

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed 34 times for 182 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for 22 yards in a 20-13 win over the New England Patriots in the Wild Card round Saturday, Jan. 4. QB Ryan Tannehill completed eight of his 15 passes for 72 yards, a touchdown and an interception and rushed four times for 11 yards. WR A.J. Brown caught his only target for four yards, Corey Davis failed to catch either of his two targets, TE Jonnu Smith caught one of his two targets for nine yards, and TE Anthony Firkser caught two of his three targets for 23 yards and a touchdown. LB Rashaan Evans finished with 10 tackles, including six solo stops and three tackles for loss, and CB Logan Ryan finished with six tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Lavonte David has amassed 1,000 tackles, 20 sacks and 20 interceptions over his first eight NFL seasons, becoming just the second player to reach all three marks since sacks became an official stat in 1982.

Footballguys view: David is a special player and has been ever since he entered the league. A second-round pick out of Nebraska in 2012, David is a pro's pro and one of the best at his position. He is showing no signs of slowing down and will be a key defender for the Bucs in 2020.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray completed 26 of his 42 passes for 325 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and failed to gain a yard on two carries while losing a pair of fumbles in a 31-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17. RB Kenyan Drake rushed 12 times for 60 yards and a touchdown and caught three of his four targets for 23 yards, and WR Christian Kirk caught seven of his 10 targets for 60 yards and carried once for six yards. WR Larry Fitzgerald caught four of his seven targets for 45 yards, WR Damiere Byrd caught seven of his eight targets for 74 yards and a touchdown, and TE Dan Arnold caught four of his six targets for 76 yards and a score. S Budda Baker logged 13 tackles, including eight solo stops, and half a sack, and LB Jordan Hicks finished with 13 tackles.
