Browns | Phil Taylor should be ready for camp Sat May 16, 10:45 AM
Cleveland Browns DT Phil Taylor (knee) said he expects to be ready for the start of training camp. Taylor said he should be able to do some things during the upcoming minicamp.
|Footballguys view: We've always had an appreciation for the player Taylor is and could be....but injuries have taken his career off track. The Browns gave themselves fantastic depth (and a potential star) at the position when they selected Danny Shelton (Washington) in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.|

Eagles | Three UConn players work out Sat Apr 25, 02:39 AM
Connecticut CB Byron Jones, WR Geremy Davis and DT B.J. McBryde all worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, April 24.
|Footballguys view: Jones is the player to watch here, and he could certainly be an option for the Eagles with the 20th-overall pick in the first round. He has great size for the position, measuring in at 6'1" 200 pounds. Jones is instinctive and has the ability to break up passes consistently. He's not an elite athlete, leading some to think that a switch to free safety might be in his future. Either way, Jones can make plays and will likely be a top-40 pick in the 2015 NFL draft.|
Chiefs | Pick up Dontari Poe's option Fri Apr 24, 04:29 PM
Kansas City Chiefs DT Dontari Poe's fifth-year option in his contract has been picked up by the team, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Poe had a bit of a down year in 2014, though he had a career high six sacks. The Chiefs will probably try and work out a long-term deal over the next year as Poe has become one of the best nose tackles in the NFL.|

NFL | Darius Kilgo meets with two teams Mon Apr 20, 07:02 AM
Maryland DT Darius Kilgo met with the Washington Redskins and Buffalo Bills in recent days, according to sources. Earlier in the visitation perios Kilgo also met with the Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.
|Footballguys view: Kilgo is an absolute beast in the middle of the defensive line with two years experience playing nose tackle for the Terrapins. He's got outstanding strength, and this helps him get interior push as a pass-rusher from time to time. Kilgo should be a priority free agent picked up after the draft.|
Broncos | Angelo Blackson visits Sat Apr 18, 03:00 AM
Auburn DT Angelo Blackson visited with the Denver Broncos in advance of the 2015 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: At 6'4" 318 pounds, Blackson can eat up space in the middle of the line at nose tackle. He's not an explosive athlete, and Blackson offers little push against the quarterback. We should see Blackson as a late-round pick in the draft.|
Eagles | Joe Okafor visits Fri Apr 17, 03:09 AM
Lamar DT Joe Okafor met with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: A former Oklahoma State Cowboy, Okafor transferred to Lamar a couple of years ago. He had an impressive pro day, and Okafor could be a good five technique on the defensive line as a rotational player. He's a late-round pick or priority free agent.|
CFL | Two headed to Winnipeg Mon Apr 13, 10:06 AM
Free-agent RB Da'Rel Scott (Giants) and DT Nate Collins (Bears) signed undisclosed deals with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Monday, April 13.
|Footballguys view: Scott was a speedy player coming out of college, but he never did much during his time with the Giants. We'll now see what he can do up in Canada.|

Lions | Looking long term on Haloti Ngata Wed Apr 8, 10:57 PM
Detroit Lions NT Haloti Ngata is entering the final year of his deal, and both he and the Lions have said they would like to work out something long term.
|Footballguys view: The Lions have $17.4 million of their payroll tied up in dead money this year, an amount good for sixth-most in the league. They were prepared to give Ndamukong Suh a deal worth over $100 million. The Lions can take some of the money they were going to spend on Suh and distribute that to other players like Ngata.|

Cowboys | Amobi Okoye released Wed Apr 8, 04:48 PM
Dallas Cowboys DT Amobi Okoye was released Wednesday, April 8.
|Footballguys view: Okoye and the Cowboys gave it a shot, but in the end he just couldn't make it back. Okoye was trying to return from a life-threatening disease that put him in a coma at one point. Okoye joined the Cowboys last May, but he never made it past just being on the roster. He spent the 2014 season on the non-football injury list.|

Jets | Leger Douzable re-signing Wed Apr 8, 02:26 PM
Free-agent DE Leger Douzable (Jets) is re-signing an undisclosed deal with the New York Jets Wednesday, April 8.
|Footballguys view: The Jets are strong up front on the defensive line. Douzable is just a backup-level player, but a valuable one due to his experience and skill set.|

Lions | Angelo Blackson in for visit Wed Apr 8, 02:33 AM
Auburn DT Angelo Blackson was in to visit the Detroit Lions on Tuesday, April 7.
|Footballguys view: Blackson is already a mountain of a man, measuring in at 6'4" 318 pounds...and he has room to add more weight to his frame. He's a two-down run-stuffer in the middle of the defense who can free up the linebackers behind him. Blackson won't add much as a pass-rusher and he's likely to be a priority free agent after the draft.|
49ers | Tony Jerod-Eddie retained Tue Apr 7, 06:07 PM
San Francisco 49ers DE Tony Jerod-Eddie signed his exclusive-rights tender Tuesday, April 7. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: The team originally tendered him a month ago, and Jerod-Eddie is now signed through the 2015 season. Over his pro career, Jerod-Eddie has started four games (including two last year). He'll have the opportunity for a larger role on the 49ers defense this year with so much turnover and question marks on the defensive side of the ball.|
Patriots | Sealver Siliga retained Thu Apr 2, 06:27 PM
New England Patriots exclusive rights free-agent DT Sealver Siliga had his rights retained Thursday, April 2.
|Footballguys view: Siliga is still in a walking boot after undergoing foot surgery last year. He's one of the top options at defensive tackle with Vince Wilfork moving on to the Texans.|
Seahawks | Jesse Williams re-signs Wed Apr 1, 05:15 PM
Seattle Seahawks DT Jesse Williams re-signed Wednesday, April 1.
|Footballguys view: It's no surprise that after two season spent on Injured Reserve due to knee injuries, Williams did not get any takers on the open market. The Seahawks let him go about a month ago, but they've decided to bring him back and see if he can stay healthy and make the team.|
Packers | B.J. Raji offered deal Mon Mar 30, 01:29 PM
Free-agent DT B.J. Raji (Packers) was offered a one-year deal for less than $2 million by the Green Bay Packers, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
|Footballguys view: Raji hasn't looked good in some time, and that's why the market has been so cool for his services.|

Packers | Letroy Guion agrees to return Mon Mar 30, 09:14 AM
Free-agent DT Letroy Guion agreed to re-sign with the Green Bay Packers Monday, March 30. Guion agreed to a one-year deal that should be finalized Tuesday, April 1.
|Footballguys view: This was the Packers plan all along. A delay was likely caused by Guion's drug arrest earlier this year. Charges were dropped, and Guion only had to pay a fine. A visit to the Seahawks likely prompted the Packers to make a move to keep Guion around for 2015.|

Patriots | Sealver Siliga had surgery Fri Mar 27, 07:52 PM
New England Patriots DT Sealver Siliga (undisclosed) is in a walking boot after having undisclosed offseason surgery.
|Footballguys view: Siliga was put on IR/Designated to Return last year with a foot injury. When he returned, Siliga was in the starting lineup next to Vince Wilfork. With Wilfork gone, Siliga could have a larger role this year. The team will ease him back in as he recovers.|

|Footballguys view: His firearm and marijuana case closed last week (with him only paying a fine), and now Guion is getting some interest on the open market. The Packers would like to bring him back, but joining a defense like Seattle's has to be tempting.|

Bengals | Pat Sims signs Thu Mar 26, 04:21 PM
Free-agent DT Pat Sims (Raiders) signed an undisclosed deal with the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, March 26.
|Footballguys view: While active for every game, Sims rarely saw the field. At best he will be a rotational player for the Bengals, where he spent the first five years of his career.|

Texans | Looking to Vince Wilfork as mentor Thu Mar 26, 01:11 AM
One reason the Houston Texans signed veteran NT Vince Wilfork was to have him become a positive influence on NT Louis Nix, a third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft who spent his first year on the reserve/injured list.
|Footballguys view: Nix has a lot of potential and Wilfork might help him with the transition, but there is certainly a good chance the veteran is also there to help out on the field if Nix struggles.|

Bears | Jarvis Jenkins signs with Chicago Tue Mar 24, 10:38 AM
Free-agent DE Jarvis Jenkins (Redskins) agreed with the Chicago Bears Tuesday, March 24, on a one-year deal.
|Footballguys view: Jenkins never developed into the pass-rusher Washington thought he would be when they selected him in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft out of Clemson. In Chicago's 3-4 defense, Jenkins will be primarily an edge-setting run defender.|

Free-agent DT Kevin Vickerson (Chiefs) agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with the New York Jets Friday, March 20.

Free-agent DT Mitch Unrein (Broncos) signed a two-year deal with the San Diego Chargers Wednesday, March 18. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: It's a good signing by the Chargers. They steal away a workman-like defensive tackle from their division rival. Unrein is a solid player who can line up at defensive end or defensive tackle. He'll work as a rotational player for the Chargers.|

Free-agent DT Nick Fairley (Lions) agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams Friday, March 13.
|Footballguys view: The Rams continue to add talent to their defense this offseason. Fairley has never played up to his potential as a pro--but the raw talent is certainly there. If he can stay healthy and motivated, then Fairley will give the Rams yet another player who can make opposing quarterbacks feel uncomfortable.|

Lions | Tyrunn Walker signs with Lions Thu Mar 12, 10:12 PM
Free-agent DT Tyrunn Walker signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions Thursday, March 12, reportedly worth $1.75 million.

Updating previous reports, free-agent DT Terrance Knighton (Broncos) agreed to a one-year deal worth $4 million Thursday, March 12.
|Footballguys view: We'll see Knighton man the middle for Washington. He's a mountain of a man who is tough to move. Knighton is a good run-defender, but he's also able to get some interior push on opposing quarterbacks. His market price was much lower than most (likely including him) expected.|
