Raiders | Mario Edwards participates in OTAs    Tue May 24, 07:35 PM

Oakland Raiders LB Mario Edwards Jr. (neck) is participating in organized team activities Tuesday, May 24, after being medically cleared for football activities earlier this month.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Raiders here. Edwards found out he was dealing with a genetic condition in his neck and a late-season injury last year put his future in the NFL in doubt. Neck injuries are nothing to take lightly, but now Edwards looks like he's ready to rock. The Raiders have the makings of a team who could surprise in 2016.

Bills | Marcell Dareus not at workouts    Tue May 24, 12:49 PM

Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus (foot) is not present for the start of organized team activities Tuesday, May 24, but head coach Rex Ryan is not concerned.

Footballguys view: We learned earlier this year that Dareus had undergone surgery on his broken foot, but he was supposed to be cleared in time for OTAs. Ryan said Dareus has taken part in roughly '90%' of offseason activities and has been a 'fixture.'

Rams | Dominique Easley agrees to deal    Tue May 17, 07:39 PM

Free-agent DT Dominique Easley (Patriots) agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday, May 17, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Rams add another first-round pick to the mix on their defensive line. Easley has had knee problems in his pro career, but he can be effective inside if healthy. We should see him work into the rotation behind Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers.

Bears | Jordan Howard will have role in 2016    Fri May 13, 08:01 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard will be used as a change-of-pace back in 2016 since he has a different style of running than RB Kendall Langford, according to offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. 'He's a change-of-pace back. Their skill sets are different. We'll use the skill set the way it needs to be. We won't ask them to both do the same thing, but we'll find out what Howard does well and we'll play to that,' Loggains said.

Footballguys view: Howard might be the most natural runner in this draft class...yes, even above Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys). While Elliot is an instant stud and worthy of a late first-round pick in your fantasy draft, Howard may be a pick in the late rounds that can pay off like a RB2. Watch to see if he can beat out Jeremy Langford to be the top back for the Bears.

Ravens | Bronson Kaufusi might start at DE    Tue May 10, 01:15 AM

Baltimore Ravens DE Bronson Kaufusi has a chance to start at defensive end. The third-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft will battle DEs Lawrence Guy and Brent Urban after DE Chris Canty was cut.

Footballguys view: Kaufusi is tall (6'6") has a large wingspan and is incredibly athletic. He is one of our favorite pass-rushing DEs in this draft class. It's no surprise the Ravens would scoop him up with a value pick.

Bengals | Dominique Easley working out    Mon May 9, 01:38 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent DT Dominique Easley (Patriots) is working out for the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, May 9, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Easley can be a productive player if healthy. There were some rumblings about him being an issue in the locker room with the Patriots, but the Bengals are a team who normally overlooks personality issues. The Falcons also have interest in the talented D-tackle.

Redskins | Five Redskins rookies sign    Mon May 9, 10:33 AM

Washington Redskins QB Nate Sudfeld, RB Keith Marshall, S Su'a Cravens, DT Matt Ioannidis and LB Steven Daniels signed their rookie deals Monday, May 9.

Footballguys view: We love Marshall's upside and ability. If healthy, he's easily got the ability to be a quality starter. Marshall is fast, instinctive and able to pick up yards after contact. A major knee injury caused him to miss about a year and a half in college, and that's why his draft stock was so low. Sudfeld is a big, tall pocket passer with a rocket arm.

Bengals | Dominique Easley works out    Sat May 7, 09:17 AM

Free-agent DT Dominique Easley (Patriots) recently worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a source. Easley has also worked out for other teams.

Footballguys view: Easley is still only 24 years old, and if he's healthy there's no question that he can be a force on the defensive line. The Falcons have shown interest in Easley as well, and there's no question that he'll find a new home before training camp.

Raiders | Mario Edwards cleared    Fri May 6, 01:37 PM

Oakland Raiders DE Mario Edwards Jr. (neck) posted on social media that he has been medically cleared to return to football Friday, May 6.

Vikings | Sharrif Floyd has option exercised    Mon May 2, 10:43 AM

Minnesota Vikings DT Sharrif Floyd had his fifth-year option exercised Monday, May 2.

Footballguys view: Floyd has not put together a 16-game season over the last two years, but when healthy he can be an impact player. He's huge and tough to move as a run-stuffer. The option is worth $6.7 million in 2017.

Austin) and LB Kyrie Wilson (Fresno State) on undisclosed deals Saturday, April 30.

Footballguys view: McCaffrey is the player to watch here. The son of former Denver Broncos WR Ed McCaffrey, Max displayed a ton of speed on film and at Duke's pro day. He was a standout player during the week of practice for the NFLPA game earlier this year, and McCaffrey has no problem regularly taking the top off the defense.

Saints | Sheldon Rankins linked to Saints    Thu Apr 28, 01:26 PM

Louisville DT Sheldon Rankins has been linked to the New Orleans Saints in the first round.

Footballguys view: The Saints need defensive help, so we could totally see Rankins ending up with the Saints. An exceptionally productive player both as a bullrusher and edge rusher Rankins would be a great help to the defense.

NFL | Stock rising for two defensive linemen     Wed Apr 27, 04:04 PM

The draft stock of Louisville DT Sheldon Rankins and Mississippi State DT Chris D. Jones continues to rise a day before the NFL Draft. Rankins and Jones are viewed by many teams to be the best interior pass-rushers in this year's draft.

Footballguys view: Rankins could go in the top 12 and Jones could go in the first round, as players like Aaron Donald have shown the immense value of interior pass rush.

Colts | Jihad Ward meets with Colts    Wed Apr 27, 10:33 AM

Illinois DT Jihad Ward met with Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and general manager Ryan Grigson Tuesday, April 26.

Footballguys view: Ward is versatile and athletic, but he is still a project as a defensive lineman after starting his junior college career as a wide receiver/safety. The Colts should be looking at him in the second round, although his ceiling could get him into first round consideration.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman among breakout candidates    Sun Apr 17, 09:15 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman, WR Justin Hardy, LB, Vic Beasley, DT Grady Jarrett, CB Jalen Collins and FS Robenson Therezie are the six players head coach Dan Quinn is counting on to elevate their games in 2016.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to remember that Coleman began the 2015 season as the starter ahead of Devonta Freeman. This season, Freeman should be the lead back but Coleman is too talented to keep on the sideline. That's why the Falcons could use a RBBC with a near 50/50 split--directly impacting both RBs fantasy value.

Footballguys view: Ouch. Not a good sign for Easley here. Reports are coming in that off-field issues got Easley bounced from the Patriots and not the chronic knee problems that have plagued him as a pro.
