Bengals | Joe Mixon back on field    Thu Aug 16, 03:22 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) participated in practice Thursday, Aug. 16, despite leaving practice early Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Footballguys view: We feel Mixon can be a workhorse, so it's good to see him back on the field. While his rookie season suffered from bad offensive line play and inconsistent use, he still amassed over 600 yards. With Jeremy Hill gone, we think he will see more work and with a better offensive line he should see his 3.5 yards per carry rise as well. His ADP of 15th RB taken seems dead on and his upside could make it a bit of a value by season's end.

Bengals | Status quo for A.J. Green    Thu Aug 16, 09:50 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green feels great and says he runs the most of anybody in practice at age 30. 'I ain't an old man,' Green said. 'I've always got juice. I've had it for a long time. I'm not going anywhere any time soon.'

Footballguys view: The forgotten fantasy receiver, Green is an elite talent who is overlooked because of younger and more talented guys like DeAndre Hopkins and Odell Beckham Jr, as well as studs like super-talents in good situations like Antonio Brown. Green is very talented, but his team isn't helping him in the that the Texans, Giants and Steelers do the others. We are hoping Andy Dalton has a bounce-back year and another receiver steps up to help draw coverage. Even if they don't, we expect WR1 production for Fantasy GMs who grab him early in drafts.

Bengals | Joe Mixon leaves practice early    Wed Aug 15, 05:32 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) left practice early Wednesday, Aug. 15, walking off under his own power and without a trainer. He did not return from the locker room.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs are excited about Mixon in 2018. He's currently going off the board at RB14 (2.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. Keep an eye on this injury situation. We'll have more news about Mixon's injury when it becomes available..stay tuned.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert will be limited    Tue Aug 14, 06:04 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) will be on a snap count this season. Head coach Marvin Lewis went as far as to say that he hopes Eifert doesn't reach 50 snaps in a game this year.

Footballguys view: That's the plan with a player who has an injury history like Eifert. Talent has never been the question with Eifert, and as long as he's healthy he can be a weapon for the Bengals offense. Fantasy GMs are taking him at TE14 (12.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bengals | Joe Mixon finds the end zone    Thu Aug 9, 09:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon rushed three times for nine yards and caught a 24-yard touchdown pass against the Chicago Bears in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Mixon was dazzling on his touchdown and it looks like he'll still be the clear lead back for the Bengals. With an improved offense, he could put up RB1 numbers despite being drafted outside of the top 10 backs off of the board.

Bengals | Quiet start for John Ross    Thu Aug 9, 09:29 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross caught one pass on five targets for 20 yards against the Chicago Bears in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Ross was inconsistent and his slip caused an interception on one of those missed targets. He will still help open up the field for the Bengals offense in any event, but to create predictable fantasy value, Ross will have to tighten up his game.

Bengals | Andy Dalton tosses two scores    Thu Aug 9, 09:24 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed six of his eight pass attempts for 103 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the Chicago Bears in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: The Bengals offense looked much better than it did at any time last year. It's just the preseason opener, but the entire Cincinnati offensive ecosystem should be much more conducive to creating fantasy value this year.

Bengals | Two receivers back at practice    Mon Aug 6, 03:26 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Auden Tate (undisclosed) and WR Joshua Malone (undisclosed) both returned to practice Monday, Aug. 6, after missing some time last week because of injuries.

Footballguys view: Tate, a 2018 seventh-round pick out of Florida State, is an interesting dynasty prospect to monitor. We love his toughness and ability to win at the catch point with size and leaping ability. Tate is competing for a spot on the depth chart behind starters A.J. Green and John Ross.

Bengals | John Ross the No. 2 option?    Sat Aug 4, 09:32 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross opened as the No. 2 receiver in a scrimmage game Saturday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: Ross should be moving up redraft boards with the release of Brandon LaFell and clear path to the #2 job. Andy Dalton doesn't have the best deep arm and accuracy, but Ross should also get chances to make things happen after short catches.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert a full go    Fri Aug 3, 10:57 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) was a full participant in practice Friday, Aug. 3.

Footballguys view: We'll take every one of these that isn't followed by "and left practice early to go to the trainer's tent" that we can get. Eifert is a no risk proposition at his ADP and the Bengals open with the Colts, so as long as he's active, he'll be startable.

Bengals | Tyler Boyd in line to start?    Thu Aug 2, 10:24 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd could be in line to start opposite of WR A.J. Green after WR Brandon LaFell was released Thursday, Aug. 2.

Footballguys view: Boyd now becomes an intriguing player who is going undrafted in early leagues. We don't know what to expect from this offense and Boyd is coming off a season where he went backwards following a nice rookie year. We don't think he's worth having on a redraft roster just yet, but flag him for consideration as we move through preseason.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell cut    Thu Aug 2, 10:07 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell was granted his release Thursday, Aug. 2, according to his agent, Jonathan Feinsod.

Footballguys view: LaFell couldn't stick in a group who, aside from A.J. Green, really isn't impressive. We can't see him having much of a role anywhere else even if he gets a job. He's not worth rostering.

Bengals | Auden Tate suffers injury    Wed Aug 1, 07:44 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Auden Tate (undisclosed) was carted off the field during practice Wednesday, Aug. 1, after hitting his head off the ground during drills.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert passes physical    Mon Jul 30, 02:51 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) passed his physical Monday, July 30, and has been activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Footballguys view: Well that didn't take long. Eifert was on the PUP list at the start of training camp but here we are less than a week later and he's now good to go. Eifert is a TD hog when healthy, but he hasn't been a fantasy force since 2015. The talent is there, so if healthy Eifert could easily outperform his ADP of TE14 (13.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert says he'll play Week 1    Thu Jul 26, 08:27 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) said that, despite going on the Physically Unable to Perform list, he suffered no setback and is 'feeling good.' When asked if he believes he'll play in the team's Week 1 game, he responded, 'Yeah, 100 percent.'

Footballguys view: It's impossible to trust Eifert, and even when he does get back on the field, history points to the chances of him staying on the field for a long time to be very low. He's only a what the heck TE2 choice late in your draft unless the he gets off of the PUP soon.

Bengals | Rod Taylor carted off    Thu Jul 26, 03:57 PM

Cincinnati Bengals OT Rod Taylor (knee) was carted off the field after suffering an apparent knee injury during practice Thursday, July 26.

Footballguys view: Taylor looked like a depth add in the seventh round. This could be bad for his ability to make the team, but likely won't hurt the Bengals efforts to reboot their offensive line.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to PUP    Thu Jul 26, 08:50 AM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is expected to begin camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list after he tweaked his back in the spring.

Footballguys view: If Fantasy Football was a language, Eifert would mean "disappointing." Even without this injury, we're not at a point where we really expect Eifert to perform well enough to roster as more than a low-end TE2. Fantasy GMs are a little higher on him that we are, as he is hovering as the 14th TE off the boards in early drafts. It's not a huge difference, but we aren't that confident in him and with this news, we might see him drop further.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert uncertain for start of camp    Tue Jul 24, 10:09 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is unlikely to practice with the team when training camp begins Thursday, July 26, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Footballguys view: There's mystery surrounding Eifert's status for the start of the regular season. He made it through just two games in 2017 and fantasy GMs should not be counting on Eifert much even if he does play. We all know the talent is there and the opportunity in the Bengals offense, but the risk is too much to take a chance on in early drafts. Stay tuned.

Bengals | Joe Mixon in good shape    Thu Jul 19, 12:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon has shed weight this offseason, going from 230 pounds to 218 pounds. 'I feel like that's where I play my best,' Mixon said. 'I was trying to get last year but I wasn't able to make it. I feel real good. My body feels real good. I feel like I'm in really good shape.'

Footballguys view: In his rookie year, Mixon was inconsistent, though a lot of that was a poor offensive line. He only had a single 100-yard game, and was banged up by the end of the year. Hopefully this will help him avoid wearing down, and the line has been shored up. Add in some decent receiving numbers last year, and Mixon looks like a decent RB2 heading into 2018.

Bengals | Matt Barkley picking up the offense    Thu Jul 12, 10:03 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Matt Barkley brings starting experience and a quality arm, according to quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, and Van Pelt said Barkley's timing with the routes in the playbook has been improving.

Footballguys view: The Bengals need a backup QB since AJ McCarron left and Barkley looks like the favorite. Barkley had a moment or two of promise with the Bears, but Cincinnati will be in big trouble if Dalton goes down.

Bengals | Tyler Kroft hopes for new deal    Sun Jul 8, 06:07 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Kroft said he hopes to sign a contract extension with the Bengals but will try to concentrate on the things he can control and not focus on his contract situation.

Footballguys view: Tyler Eifert is questionable for the start of training camp, so Kroft will have a real chance to be the team's starting tight end again this year and improve his coming payday. Tight end is a coveted position with the desire to run multiple tight end sets, so there could be a good market for his services. The Bengals have been good at extending in-house talent and would be smart to lock Kroft in at a discount with Eifert ailing in case the Rutgers product takes a step forward this year and puts up even better numbers.

Bengals | A.J. Green wants to bounce back    Fri Jul 6, 11:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he feels he had a 'crummy' 2017 season but expects more consistency this year.

Footballguys view: Green simply wasn't healthy last season, coming on the heels of an injury-shortened 2016. We feel he should have a bounce back season, even if Andy Dalton continues to be a shaky signal caller. Consider Green a top tier receiver for fantasy purposes.

Cincinnati Bengals CB William Jackson III held Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown to zero receptions on seven targets last year while opposing quarterbacks had a 36.1 passer rating when targeting Jackson, and Adam Rank of NFL.com believes Jackson is 'the kind of stud the Bengals can anchor a defense around.'

Bengals | Cincy looking at two draft prospects    Sun Jul 1, 06:10 PM

The Cincinnati Bengals have scouted Western Michigan CB Sam Beal and Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander leading up to the supplemental draft.

Footballguys view: Beal could go as high as the third round and Alexander has the length some teams covet at corner. Cincinnati has done a good job restocking their secondary through the draft, but at a high cost, three first-round picks in recent years, and this duo will come a supplemental draft discount.

Bengals | Darqueze Dennard not worried about contract    Sun Jul 1, 06:09 PM

Cincinnati Bengals CB Darqueze Dennard said he is focusing on playing football and is not worried about entering the final year of his current contract.

Footballguys view: The Bengals have William Jackson and Dre Kirkpatrick outside, so Dennard could find more money elsewhere. He'll hold down the slot for Cincinnati in their underrated defense.

Bengals | Joe Mixon headed for 1,000 yards?    Sun Jun 24, 11:33 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon should break 1,000 yards behind a revamped offensive line this season, in the opinion of Gil Brandt of NFL.com.

Footballguys view: The Bengals made strides to improve their offensive line this offseason by trading for OT Cordy Glenn and selecting C Billy Price in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. Those moves should help provide better running room for Mixon this year. His rookie season was a mixed bag, but the talent is there for him to easily be a 1,000 yard rusher in the pros. Fantasy owners are taking him off the board at RB15 (2.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.
