Bengals | C.J. Uzomah still adjusting Fri Jun 23, 11:10 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah said he is still adjusting to an NFL system after playing in a spread offense in college. 'I have some things to work on, blocking assignments and being fundamentally sound in everything that I do,' Uzomah said.
|Footballguys view: Entering year three of his pro career, Uzomah should be plenty adjusted to his NFL offense. A fifth-round pick out of Auburn in 2015, Uzomah lacks aggression for his position and basically plays like a supersized (6'5" 265 pounds) wide receiver. He'll compete as a backup behind Tyler Eifert in 2017.|

Bengals | Andre Smith moving to guard Fri Jun 23, 10:13 AM
Cincinnati Bengals OT Andre Smith is moving from right tackle to offensive guard this season.
|Footballguys view: The Bengals have a new-look offensive line after losing OT Andrew Whitworth (Rams) and OG Kevin Zeitler (Browns) in free agency. Smith is playing inside at guard and the Bengals will have Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher outside at tackle. A top-10 pick in 2009, Smith is not the player he used to be but gives the Bengals valuable insurance at the tackle position.|
Bengals | Cody Core carted off Wed Jun 14, 07:56 PM

Bengals | John Ross feeling great Tue Jun 13, 10:10 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) said his surgically repaired shoulder is feeling great and expects to be ready for the start of training camp. Ross appeared to be doing some things with the receiver group during practice Tuesday, June 13, but did not have a helmet.
|Footballguys view: Ross has crazy speed and can take the top off the defense in the blink of an eye. He's more than just a one-route guy and can run multiple routes to get open and make plays. Ross will mix in as a big-play weapon for the Bengals behind superstar A.J. Green. Fantasy owners are taking him off the board at WR53 (11.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Bengals | Joe Mixon drops weight Sat Jun 10, 02:05 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon has dropped 10 pounds since the rookie minicamp and currently weighs 228 pounds.
|Footballguys view: Mixon is just getting into football shape, and there's a chance he could drop more weight as the season goes on. He was listed at 226 pounds coming out of Oklahoma. A second-round pick due to off-field issues, Mixon has first-round talent and could become a superstar at the pro level. He'll begin the year competing with Jeremy Hill for the starting job with the Bengals. Mixon is a complete back and a weapon...simply put he's more talented than Hill and that will win out eventually. Expect him to get a heavy dose of touches in this offense from the get go.|
Bengals | Tyler Kroft receiving work with starters Fri Jun 9, 07:25 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Kroft has received a lot of work with the first-team offense during offseason workouts because TEs Tyler Eifert (back) and C.J. Uzomah (undisclosed) has been sidelined with injuries.
|Footballguys view: Back in April, Eifert said he was not sure if he was going to be ready for training camp. He's been slowed by injuries in the past, and back injuries can be tricky to return from. Kroft should get plenty of opportunities to impress with the first team.|

Cincinnati Bengals second-round RB Joe Mixon intends to spend at least two weeks training with New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson in Houston following the conclusion of Cincinnati's mini-camp next week.
|Footballguys view: Mixon has superstar upside as a pro. He'll begin training camp competing with Jeremy Hill for the top job, but Mixon is a more well-rounded player with big-play ability that Hill just doesn't have. Watch this battle unfold in training camp.|
Bengals | Brandon Wilson hopeful for mini-camp Tue Jun 6, 08:03 PM

Bengals | Joe Mixon signs Fri Jun 2, 11:57 AM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon, a second-round pick, signed his rookie four-year contract Friday, June 2.
|Footballguys view: Mixon has the ability to be the lead back for the Bengals at some point during his rookie season. He's a three-down back who is as dangerous as a runner as he is a receiver. Mixon will compete with veteran Jeremy Hill to be the top back. If he's the starter, Mixon has RB1 upside in all formats.|
Bengals | Carl Lawson turning heads Wed May 31, 01:04 PM
Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round DE Carl Lawson is seeing significant time as a linebacker so far in offseason practices and has been highly impressive, according to a handful of players and coaches. The Bengals anticipate him putting his hand on the ground on third down, but he is working with the linebackers so they can get him on the field on first and second down as well.
|Footballguys view: Lawson was not known as a 'twitchy' player in college at Auburn, so he must be improving that part of his game. He does get off the snap quickly, and Lawson has the NFL aggression and toughness to be an edge-setter in the pros.|
Bengals | A.J. Green wants to play a while Tue May 30, 03:11 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green wants to play seven more years in the NFL, according to Geoff Hobson of bengals.com.
|Footballguys view: Green is heading into his seventh pro season, and there's no reason to think he couldn't keep playing for another seven. Last year was the first time he was held under 1,000 yards receiving as Green was limited to just 10 games. Back and healthy this season, Green could easily finish as a top-5 fantasy receiver in 2017.|

Bengals | Joe Mixon the Week 1 third-down back? Sun May 28, 08:35 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon could serve as the third-down back for the first few games as RB Giovani Bernard (knee) works his way back from knee surgery, according to beat writer Geoff Hobson, and Hobson believes Mixon will be a big part of the running back rotation even when Bernard is healthy.
|Footballguys view: Mixon may begin the season as a change-of-pace back, but he's got the natural talent to be one of the best starters in the league. Jeremy Hill may begin the year as the starter, but we think Mixon could overtake him at some point during the year. Stay tuned to this battle in training camp.|

Bengals | Cody Core dedicated to improving Sun May 28, 12:30 AM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Cody Core said he dedicated himself to eating better and training during the offseason and was able to add muscle without losing his speed.
|Footballguys view: Core was the team's leading receiver in their Week 17 finale against the Ravens last year. He played in eight games as a rookie in 2016, and the sixth-round pick out of Ole Miss has intriguing upside. However, with the addition of WR John Ross in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft it leaves Core further down the depth chart. We're still interested in him in deep dynasty leagues.|

|Footballguys view: Signed to a five-year, $52.5 million contract earlier this year Kirkpatrick suffered the injury in what he describes as a "freak accident." He'll be out there for training camp and should have no problem when Week 1 of the regular season rolls around.|

Bengals | Giovani Bernard will be limited at OTAs Mon May 22, 03:50 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) will be a limited participant when organized team activities begin Tuesday, May 23.
|Footballguys view: There's no need for the Bengals to rush Bernard back. They have Jeremy Hill and rookie Joe Mixon to split time at running back in OTAs and into training camp. Bernard continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last season.|

Bengals | Jox Mixon's versatility praised Thu May 18, 09:34 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon's versatility will make it harder for defenses to know what the offense is doing, according to QB Andy Dalton.
|Footballguys view: Mixon has drawn comparisons to Le'Veon Bell (Steelers) because of his versatility. We see him as a full-time back and certainly a strong fantasy asset. The Bengals will have to hammer out the touches in the backfield between Mixon, Gio Bernard and Jeremy Hill.|

Bengals | Joshua Malone signs deal Wed May 17, 03:58 PM
Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round draft choice WR Joshua Malone signed his four-year deal with the Bengals Wednesday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: While he's not quite Carl Pickens, Malone was an ascending talent during his days in college playing for the Tennessee Volunteers. In 2016, Malone was the top WR for Tennesse catching 50 passes for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns. Along with first-round pick John Ross, the Bengals have added some much-needed speed to the WR corps.|
Bengals | Five rookies sign with Bengals Mon May 15, 03:00 PM
Cincinnati Bengals DT Ryan Glasgow, PK Jake Elliott, LB Jordan Evans, S Brandon Wilson and TE Mason Schreck signed their four-year rookie deals Monday, May 15.
|Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick out of Buffalo, Schreck is known as a natural hands catcher and receiving tight end. He only had one drop on 59 receptions with the Bulls last year. He was the leading receiver in 2016, and now he hopes to make an impression for the Bengals. With his receiving ability and willingness to block, we could see the rookie work his way up the depth chart with time.|
Bengals | Josh Malone the new Marvin Jones? Fri May 12, 01:23 PM
Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round WR Joshua Malone is not expected to be a big contributor right away, but new teammate A.J. Green says the rookie reminds him of a young Marvin Jones.Link to story
Bengals | John Ross contract details Mon May 8, 03:28 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross's deal is four years in length and worth $17.1 million. It includes a $10.6 million signing bonus. The Bengals will pay him his entire 2017 base salary if he is not on the Non-Football Injury list.
|Footballguys view: Ross is currently recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent after the 2017 Scouting Combine. The speedster from Washington reminds us of DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) as he can flat out fly. Ross will compete with Brandon LaFell for the no.2 WR job opposite superstar A.J. Green.|
Bengals | OC loves what Joe Mixon can do Sun May 7, 11:35 PM
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Ken Zampese said he is excited about everything RB Joe Mixon brings to the offense. 'I think he has a very, very bright future,' Zampese said.
|Footballguys view: Mixon has big-play ability every time he touches the ball. He's got patience, burst, power and speed as a runner. Mixon does a good job of allowing his blocks to develop, and he'll set up defenders at the second level while he's still in the backfield. In addition to his hard-charging style as a runner, Mixon can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield.|
Bengals | John Ross, Carl Lawson sign rookie deals Sun May 7, 01:46 PM
Cincinnati Bengals first-round WR John Ross and third-round DE Carl Lawson signed their four-year rookie contracts Sunday, May 7.
|Footballguys view: Ross reminds us of WR DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) due to his speed and ability to basically teleport down the field. The speedster from Washington is currently recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but he should be ready to go sometime around training camp. Ross gives the team much-needed speed opposite A.J. Green.|

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon will need to get back into football shape after spending the offseason making pre-draft visits, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Bengals | John Ross to miss minicamp Fri May 5, 07:04 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) will not be medically cleared by the team's June minicamp because he is recovering from shoulder surgery, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Bengals | Quick transition for Joshua Malone? Sat Apr 29, 10:00 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Joshua Malone is 'well-coached' and knows how to play the receiver position, according to wide receivers coach James Urban. 'I think he's a guy that will flash plays on a daily basis because of his physical tool set, and then he'll just get better, and better, and better,' Urban said.
|Footballguys view: Malone is a size/speed threat who can stick on the Bengals roster as a fifth receiver while he develops. He has starter upside and should be monitored in dynasty leagues just in case first-round pick John Ross can't stay healthy in the pros. Deep dynasty leaguers should look to stash Malone away.|

Bengals | Cincinnati selects Joe Mixon Fri Apr 28, 08:34 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft Friday, April 28.
|Footballguys view: Well, plenty of people booed this pick in Philadelphia and we can't blame them. From a talent standpoint, Mixon is a great fit and Jeremy Hill owners should worry. It's hard not to feel dirty here though as what he has done off the field is repugnant. Cincinnati has embraced troubled players before with some success so perhaps this is a good spot for him. But many, many teams had him off their boards and we understand that too.|
Bengals | John Ross an option on returns Fri Apr 28, 01:17 AM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder) is a candidate to handle kickoff returns, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.
|Footballguys view: That gives the Bengals someone who can produce solid field position. We still think there were much bigger needs for the Bengals, and the injury might limit his effectiveness as a receiver this season, but overall it's a solid pick.|
Bengals | John Ross could return in July Fri Apr 28, 01:06 AM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (shoulder), who underwent labrum surgery following the NFL Combine, indicated he'd be cleared to practice in July, and head coach Marvin Lewis said he should be ready to go near the start of the season.
|Footballguys view: On the surface this is a fine pick, even with the medical concern. They had bigger needs but Ross, long term, should be a good fit. However, missing training camp is going to minimize his potential impact this season.|
Bengals | Cincinnati selects John Ross Thu Apr 27, 09:16 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Washington WR John Ross with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft Thursday, April 27.
|Footballguys view: We're not huge fans of this pick but we like Ross. The Bengals have so many holes elsewhere though, this is a bit of a shock. Were they enamored of the 40 time at the Combine? They need someone across from AJ Green, but this is a bit less of a need than we wanted.Ross can be a big time weapon and was very productive. He could be a deep ball threat if the Bengals can protect Andy Dalton.|
Bengals | AJ McCarron unlikely to be dealt Tue Apr 25, 09:10 AM
Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron is unlikely to be traded because it would likely take a first-round pick to acquire him.

'I'll have to see how I'm feeling and go from there. I've still lost a lot of strength with the nerve issues and all of that stuff. Just working through some of that. Once I get my strength back I'll be fine.'
|Footballguys view: The Bengals are going to be careful with Eifert. So long as he's ready for Week 1 of the regular season, that should be the target date for the big tight end. When healthy, he's one of the best in the league.|

Bengals | Cam Robinson visits Bengals Mon Apr 17, 08:14 AM
Alabama OT Cam Robinson visited with the Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend.
|Footballguys view: The Bengals saw their offensive line decimated in free agency as they lost two starters in Kevin Zeitler (OG) and Andrew Whitworth (LT). Robinson may be in play for them at 9th overall in the first round, but that would be a little high given his skill set.|
Bengals | Cincinnati eyeing Derek Barnett? Sun Apr 16, 08:57 PM
Tennessee DE Derek Barnett was put through drills at his pro day by Cincinnati Bengals defensive line coach Jacob Burney while defensive coordinator Paul Guenther watched.
|Footballguys view: Barnett is one of the most productive players in this draft class. He will be a first-round pick, and the Bengals may be thinking seriously about him at 9th overall.|
