Bengals | Want to sign Andy Dalton to Colin Kaepernick type deal    Tue Jul 22, 01:57 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton should be signed to a contract that mirrors the deal signed by San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, in the opinion of owner Mike Brown.

Footballguys view: Earlier this year Kaepernick signed a seven-year $126 million contract which included $61 million guaranteed. He ranks 2nd in the NFL behind Aaron Rodgers in terms of annual average salary with a $21 million price tag. The Bengals are going to have to cough up a significant amount in order to keep Dalton around. He's entering the final year of his deal and has been incredibly productive in the regular season. Dalton's 0-3 postseason record is something he needs to change in the future.

Bengals | A.J. Green not worried about contract    Thu Jul 17, 02:03 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he is not worried about a contract extension, because the team picked up his 2015 option. 'I think I'm on the backburner just because of the option. That's fine with me,' Green said. 'I don't even look at it like that. I just go out there and play and my time will come. It's not surprising. Teams always want to wait. I'm fine with my option and my $10 million. I'll take it.'

Footballguys view: The Bengals know that Green is one of the best receivers in the game today. He's worth every penny of whatever future contract he may sign. Don't expect much movement on his contract since he's signed through the 2015 season.

Bengals | Teammate expects Andy Dalton to receive extension    Thu Jul 17, 02:02 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton should receive a contract extension before the start of the regular season, according to WR A.J. Green. Green said he believes the team knows Dalton is the quarterback to take them into the future.

Footballguys view: Dalton is in the final year of his contract, and the Bengals have to find the right number to keep him around. He's put up some great numbers, having more touchdown passes in the first three years of an NFL career than everyone but Peyton Manning and Dan Marino. Dalton's game falls apart in the postseason, and that further complicates what the team will have to pay.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill could have big role in running game    Wed Jul 16, 02:20 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill could split carries with RB Giovani Bernard this upcoming season and receive over 200 carries, in the opinion of Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are excited about what Gio Bernard can do this year (current ADP of RB11 - 2.07 in 12-team PPR leagues), but do not forget about Hill. The big rookie can grind down against opponents, plus he can break off big runs when he gets to the second level of the defense.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected to be ready for camp    Wed Jul 16, 02:19 PM

Bengals | Giovani Bernard to be used early and often    Wed Jul 16, 08:45 AM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is expected to be utilized early and often in 2014. One beat writer expects 230 carries and 70 receptions.

Footballguys view: Message! New offensive coordinator Hue Jackson loves to run the ball. The team will use Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill to soften up defenses and set up play-action passing for Andy Dalton. Bernard's current ADP is RB11 (2.07) in 12-team PPR leagues. Fantasy owners who want him will have to select Bernard with a premium pick.

Bengals | OC wants to help Andy Dalton    Fri Jul 11, 09:37 PM

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said he wants to help QB Andy Dalton improve his play this upcoming season. 'We are tethered together. And I'll jump off a building with this guy,' Jackson said, 'because I believe in the things he's trying to accomplish with his career, and I think I can help him.'

Footballguys view: Jackson will help Dalton by limiting what he does on the field with a powerful ground game. We could see Gio Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill punish defenses on the ground to set up play-action passing for Dalton and A.J. Green. He was the 3rd-best fantasy QB last year, but this is a different system than what Jay Gruden ran. Expect Dalton's numbers to fall to QB2 levels. His current ADP is QB17 (12.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bengals | A.J. Green wants Andy Dalton to stay    Thu Jul 10, 02:55 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he wants QB Andy Dalton to remain with the team for years to come. 'We came in together and that is the great thing for me and him,' Green said. 'I know he's my guy. I don't want any other quarterback throwing me the ball. I think he feels the same way about me.' Green said he has built a good chemistry with Dalton over the last several seasons.

Footballguys view: Well, if Dalton keeps imploding in playoff games, Green might feel differently down the road. As it stands now, Green knows Dalton will get him the ball and trusts him. Of course, the unknown is a bit scary so why change it? As it stands together they're pretty potent. Dalton is a low-end QB2 but Green is a top-5 WR1. As that's the case, we're fine with keeping things the same as well.

Bengals | Clint Boling may be ready for camp    Wed Jul 9, 02:11 PM

Cincinnati Bengals OG Clint Boling (knee) may be ready to participate at the start of training camp since he was rehabbing his torn anterior cruciate ligament during the offseason. Boling said he will definitely be ready for the start of the regular season.

Bengals | Two RBs may compete for one spot    Wed Jul 9, 02:10 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Rex Burkhead could compete for one roster spot if the team keeps four running backs on the final roster. RBs Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill and Cedric Peerman appear to be locks for the roster.

Footballguys view: Peerman's special teams prowess will keep him on the roster, while the overpriced Green-Ellis will have to have a great preseason and camp to stave off Burkhead, who is bigger and more physically talented. Look for Green-Ellis to land on a team with injury/depth issues at running back after final cuts or a few weeks into the season.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green has been named one of the top 10 players on NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2014. Green ranked 77th on the list in 2012 and 16th in 2013.

Bengals | Andy Dalton hosts workout with receivers    Mon Jul 7, 08:44 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton invited WR A.J. Green, WR Marvin Jones, WR Mohamed Sanu, WR Brandon Tate, WR Ryan Whalen and WR Cobi Hamilton to Dallas for a throwing session Monday, July 7. 'It's just a chance to work on the little things before we get it going again,' Dalton said. 'Working on the routes, doing some of the things that need to get better.'

Footballguys view: It's good to see Dalton taking the initiative to lead as he is getting into the prime of his career. This could be his last year in Cincinnati, so other teams will be taking note of his off-field actions.

Bengals | Dane Sanzenbacher feeling more comfortable    Tue Jul 1, 03:05 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Dane Sanzenbacher recently said he has a higher comfort level now that he's been with the team for more than a season. 'The longer you're there, the more of a comfort level you have,' Sanzenbacher said. 'It's easier to perform well when you're in a place that you like.' Sanzenbacher also said he's been training in Arizona in preparation for training camp in late July.

Footballguys view: Sanzenbacher will be asked to take the place of Andrew Hawkins this year. Coming out of college Sanzenbacher was a precise route-runner with good hands. Now that he's more comfortable in the pros, he'll be able to make the most of his natural skill set. With a run-heavy system under new OC Hue Jackson, we're not expecting Sanzenbacher to be much of a fantasy factor.

Bengals | OC has praise for Andy Dalton, A.J. Green    Mon Jun 30, 04:44 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green are the best quarterback-receiver duo in the league, according to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. 'I think both of these guys are in the prime of their careers,' Jackson said. 'I wouldn't change the two guys I have for anybody at this point because these guys know how to do it together.'

Footballguys view: Jackson is going to implement a run-heavy offense this year featuring second-year pro Gio Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill. This is going to set up play-action passing for Dalton and Green each week. The talented duo should be able to take advantage. The new offensive philosophy hasn't done much to alter Green's fantasy outlook. His current ADP is WR4 (1.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bengals | James Wilder likely a practice squad option    Sun Jun 29, 08:35 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB James Wilder Jr. appears to be a long shot to make the final roster, but the team likely would want him on their practice squad.

Footballguys view: Wilder is a big back who can bang it between the tackles. He's not much of a receiving threat, and he's limited to being a two-down player as a pro. Expect a more run-heavy offense for the Bengals this year, but Wilder is not likely to see many (if any) carries in 2014.

Bengals | Adam Jones plans on being a starter    Sat Jun 28, 08:40 PM

Cincinnati Bengals CB Adam Jones said he has no plans of relinquishing snaps to CB Leon Hall or CB Darqueze Dennard. 'I don't plan on giving up my spot at corner,' Jones said. 'I'm training to be a starter. I would like to return punts too, but I want the corner snaps because I feel like I'm at the point in my career where I'm playing my best football.'

Bengals | Sean Porter competing for roster spot    Thu Jun 26, 03:22 PM

Cincinnati Bengals LB Sean Porter (shoulder) is 100 percent healthy and competing for a roster spot with LBs J.K. Schaffer, Jayson DiManche, Marquis Flowers, Brandon Joiner and James Davidson. Porter spent the 2013 season on Injured Reserve with a torn labrum.

Footballguys view: It's a very crowded group but there is room for a guy like Porter to gain some snaps. He's going to have to stay healthy in camp and show some special teams moxie to stick though, as even last season before his injury he was tabbed as no more than depth.

Bengals | Andy Dalton not expected to walk    Thu Jun 26, 08:38 AM

Cincinnati Bengals beat writer Geoff Hobson believes the Bengals will sign QB Andy Dalton to an extension before the start of the season.

Footballguys view: The question will be for how much? And for how long? The Bengals need to decide whether Dalton is not only just good enough to keep them in the playoffs but if they can win a Super Bowl with him. Also a factor is how much Dalton might want. Bengals ownership has the reputation of being notoriously cheap. If Dalton's demands are reasonable, he has a better chance of them being met. For the most part the staff views him as a QB2 as he'll get you some production but can go several games with mediocre numbers.

Bengals | Want ball-possession offense    Thu Jun 26, 08:32 AM

Cincinnati Bengals beat writer Geoff Hobson believes Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to have a more ball-possession offense that runs it more but sets up more explosive passes efficiently. That would mean fewer pass plays, but more potential big plays off of play-action.

Footballguys view: Paging Gio Bernard owners, pick up the white courtesy phone! Both Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill could be in line for major snaps, while Andy Dalton might see fewer pass attempts. We see Bernard as a borderline RB1 with Hill an RB4 or RB5 depending on format.

Bengals | Emmanuel Lamur continuing to draw praise    Wed Jun 25, 06:26 PM

Cincinnati Bengals LB Emmanuel Lamur is penciled in to replace free-agent LB James Harrison on the strong side, and Cincinnati coaches have spent the offseason raving about Lamur's athleticism. Lamur missed all of 2014 with a separated shoulder and is expected to become an integral part of the Bengals' defensive plans.

Footballguys view: Lamur is a terrific coverage linebacker who also showed the ability to make an impact on passing downs. This role should give him the opportunity to be a deep sleeper in IDP leagues this year. We'll be monitoring his development.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu expected to see time in slot    Sat Jun 21, 11:31 AM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu could receive the bulk of snaps in the slot this upcoming season. Nearly half of Sanu's catches in 2013 came when he was the slot receiver.

Footballguys view: Sanu is smooth after the catch. We could see him get a larger role for the Bengals this year since they lost Andrew Hawkins to the Browns in free agency.
