Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon forced a broken tackle once every 11.6 carries in 2019 (24 on 278 rushing attempts) after doing so only once every 39.5 carries in 2018 (six on 237 rushing attempts).

Footballguys view: Mixon has always been this type of runner. He's tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam and doesn't need much room to get going. Mixon will once again be a centerpiece of the Bengals offense in 2020.

Footballguys view: This tag means Green will make around $17 million in 2020. We'll see if they can reach a new deal with Green before the mid-July deadline to get something done. Green is likely to stay away from offseason work but he doesn't have the leverage to hold out once training camp gets here later this summer.

The Cincinnati Bengals are listening to trade offers for QB Andy Dalton, according to a source Saturday, March 14.

Footballguys view: Eifert has a ton of talent but he's oft-injured more than most any player in the league. If he's healthy, Eifert can be a quality starter. That's something a team will take a chance on...for a good price.

Bengals | Rodney Anderson taking it slow    Fri Mar 6, 11:40 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) 'looks pretty dang good' during workouts, according to running backs coach Jemal Singleton, but the Bengals will take a cautious approach to Anderson's rehab.

Footballguys view: Anderson is a running back we're watching closely in super deep dynasty formats. The 2019 sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma missed all but two games with a knee injury in his final season with the Sooners. Last year as a rookie with the Bengals, Anderson hurt his knee again in the preseason finale. He's been on the road to recovery since then and is hoping to be back in August.

Bengals | Cincinnati met with Joe Burrow    Sun Mar 1, 12:48 PM

Louisiana State QB Joe Burrow met with the Cincinnati Bengals at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: So much for the 'he doesn't want to play for the Bengals' crowd. Burrow is very likely to be the No.1 overall pick to the Bengals. He's smart and accurate, drawing comparisons to Tony Romo...and even some Tom Brady comparisons by those in the draftnik community.

Bengals | Cincy hoping to ink A.J. Green to extension    Sat Feb 29, 10:28 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals are interested in extending the contract of WR A.J. Green, although ongoing discussions about a potential new collective bargaining agreement have stalled negotiations, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: If the team is unable to finalize a long-term deal by March 10, Green is likely to receive the franchise tag. He is not going to be happy with the tag and may stay away from workouts if that's the case. However, the tag does give the two sides an opportunity to work out a long-term deal as the deadline to do so with a franchise-tagged player is mid-July.

The Cincinnati Bengals are interested in signing RB Joe Mixon to a contract extension, although continuing discussions about a possible new collective bargaining agreement have stalled negotiations.

Footballguys view: The Bengals have an interesting issue coming up with Mixon's contract. They might find a number on an extension that makes him one of the highest-paid running backs in the league. He is entering the final year of his current contract.

Bengals | More playing time in Darius Phillips' future?    Wed Feb 26, 10:19 PM

Cincinnati Bengals CB Darius Phillips needs to stay healthy after missing eight games last season, but defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo otherwise raved about the 2018 fifth-round draft pick's ball skills and the fact he was able to register four interceptions on 109 snaps last season.'Teaching ball skills, that's a God-given ability,' Anarumo said. 'You can get (players) to knock it down, which is a good thing, but there are two parts. Tracking it and catching it. Some guys can catch it, but they get lost when it's in the air. To say you have a guy with hands like feet and turn him into an interceptor, it's not happening. The best guys, you can see them throwing and catching. It's not hard to see. ... You can have four interceptions in 1,000 snaps and that's a heck of a year. (Phillips) even had one in the preseason, so he can find the ball,' Anarumo said.

Bengals | Cincinnati meets with Tua Tagovailoa    Wed Feb 26, 02:57 PM

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa met with the Cincinnati Bengals at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: The Bengals have the No.1 overall pick but they are doing their due diligence and looking at all options. They should be picking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow but perhaps someone else like Tagovailoa (or Justin Herbert) makes a better impression.

  Bengals | A.J. Green likely to re-sign    Sat Feb 22, 12:35 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) wasn't dealt at the trade deadline last fall, making it highly unlikely that the Bengals will let him walk in free agency, in the opinion of Pro Football Focus analyst Anthony Treash.

Footballguys view: That's been the buzz around Green for quite some time, although it is interesting to think about where he could land if he hits the open market. The Bengals could always use the franchise tag on Green if they needed more time to get a new contract done. If tagged, the two sides would have until mid-July to work out a new contract.

Bengals | Andy Dalton fits with Bears    Thu Feb 13, 02:42 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton will work with the team this offseason to facilitate a trade., and according to CBS NFL analyst John Breech, the Chicago Bears rank as the top fit.

Footballguys view: We could see Dalton landing with the Bears...it just depends on what the Bengals want for him in return. He would be a good veteran backup to Mitchell Trubisky, and Dalton could take over as the starter if Trubisky continues to struggle.

Bengals | CIN to work on Andy Dalton trade    Wed Feb 12, 01:55 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has been told by the Bengals that they will work to trade him.

Footballguys view: The Bengals are moving on from Dalton in 2020, likely with a quarterback (Joe Burrow?) with the No.1 overall pick in the draft. Dalton shouldn't command much from a team in need of a bridge quarterback. It will be interesting to see what the Bengals get in return.

Bengals | Giovani Bernard out in Cincy?    Thu Feb 6, 11:21 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard could be a cap casualty this offseason, according to Joe Goodberry of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: A fresh start would be a good thing for Bernard. There's more there for him and he could perhaps find a team that would give him a larger role...or at least the opportunity for a larger role. The Bengals would save $2.8 million in cap space by releasing Bernard.

Bengals | Cincinnati officially adds Tony Brown    Mon Feb 3, 05:42 PM

Green Bay Packers CB Tony M. Brown was officially claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Feb. 3.

Footballguys view: The Colts, Browns, and Raiders all tried to claim Brown, but the Bengals superior waiver position, which they will have through the first three weeks of the 2020 regular season, won out. He started a few games for the Packers after going undrafted in 2018.

Bengals | Dan Pitcher promoted    Thu Jan 30, 11:20 AM

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals coach Dan Pitcher was officially promoted to quarterback's coach Thursday, Jan. 30.

Footballguys view: Pitcher is going to be working with a first-round quarterback in 2020. Joe Burrow from LSU could be the No.1 overall pick but Justin Herbert from Oregon might be in that mix too. The Bengals needed to add a quarterback coach after Alex Van Pelt took the offensive coordinator job with the Browns.

Bengals | Cincinnati set to promote Dan Pitcher     Wed Jan 29, 09:44 PM

Cincinnati Bengals assistant quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher is expected to become the team's new quarterbacks coach, replacing Alex Van Pelt after he accepted the Cleveland Browns' offer to become their new offensive coordinator Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Bengals | A.J. Green not keen on tag    Thu Jan 23, 01:22 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green, a pending free agent, could receive the franchise tag from the Bengals this offseason. 'The franchise tag is not the best thing,' Green said in a TV interview. 'But like I said, I'm not turning down 18 million dollars. It just happens. When you run a business, you have to make difficult decisions. But I feel like when you put that on me, then that's what you're showing me, you only want me for one year. And I always play with a chip on my shoulder.'

Footballguys view: The Bengals could use the tag on Green just to buy more time to get a new long-term contract done. If tagged, the two sides would have until mid-July to work something out. We'll see if a contract can be agreed upon before the tag would need to be placed on the veteran receiver.

Bengals | A.J. Green may return in 2020    Wed Jan 22, 05:13 PM

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR A.J. Green is a player the Bengals plan to have on their roster next season, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Footballguys view: Green has previously stated that he wants to be in Cincinnati if the two sides can reach an agreement. The Bengals want to keep him around, so it seems reasonable to assume something will happen to do just that. The team could always use the franchise tag on Green if a new deal is not reached by the time free agency opens up.
