Bengals | Auden Tate standing out Fri Jun 15, 12:08 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Auden Tate was one of the most impressive players during OTAs and minicamp this spring thanks to his size (6-5) and ability to high-point the ball.
|Footballguys view: Another day and another positive report about Tate coming out of Cincinnati. Earlier reports indicate the Bengals are going to keep him at wide receiver despite his TE-like size. A seventh-round pick out of Florida State in the 2018 NFL draft, Tate is a big-bodied target (6'5" 228 pounds) with great body control. He's not fast off the line and he's not quick out of his breaks, but Tate presents a large target and can win at the catch point versus smaller defensive backs. We're monitoring his progress in super deep dynasty leagues.|

Bengals | Auden Tate staying at WR Wed Jun 13, 06:44 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals have no plans of moving WR Auden Tate to tight end.
|Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick out of Florida State in the 2018 NFL draft, Tate is a big-bodied target (6'5" 228 pounds) with great body control. He's not fast off the line and he's not quick out of his breaks, but Tate presents a large target and can win at the catch point versus smaller defensive backs. We're monitoring his progress in super deep dynasty leagues.|
Bengals | Tyler Eifert could miss camp Wed Jun 13, 04:55 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (back) status for training camp is unclear at this point, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.
|Footballguys view: Lewis was non-committal when asked about Eifert's availability for training camp...and for good reason. If it's not one thing, it's another for Eifert in recent years. He's only played 10 games over the last two seasons and cannot be relied on. Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah will get more work while Eifert is out.|

Bengals | Tyler Eifert misses first day of minicamp Wed Jun 13, 02:42 AM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) did not participate in the team's minicamp Tuesday, June 12, despite being at the facility earlier in the day.
|Footballguys view: Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis couldn't answer whether or not Eifert would be ready for the start of training camp. Eifert is great when healthy, but he's rarely healthy and has only played in 10 games over the last two seasons. Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah will get more work while Eifert is out.|

Bengals | Two expected to compete for backup QB job Mon Jun 11, 12:25 PM
Cincinnati Bengals QBs Jeff Driskel and Matt Barkley are expected to compete for the backup quarterback job during training camp.
|Footballguys view: Barkley has more experience and that may give him a leg up in the competition. Driskel is athletic and can make throws on the move with ease, but he's raw and needs to make better decisions with the ball when under duress. He's more interesting in deep dynasty leagues right now because of the unknown surrounding his game.|

Bengals | A.J. Green suffers minor injury Wed May 30, 09:44 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (leg) did not finish practice Tuesday, May 29, after suffering a minor leg injury during practice but said he will be fine.
|Footballguys view: The Bengals will take it easy on Green as he deals with this minor injury. Green is everything to the offense and we'll see if someone like John Ross can start producing opposite the superstar. If TE Tyler Eifert finally stays healthy this year that would also help boost the Bengals passing attack.|

Bengals | John Ross seeing lots of work Sun May 27, 10:33 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross has been 'fed the ball on a variety of routes' during OTAs, according to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
|Footballguys view: Ross set the Scouting Combine on fire in 2017 with his record-setting 4.2 second 40-yard dash....after that he didn't do much. His rookie season was a wash due to injury, and he's looking to get things back on track this year. Ross has the speed to take the top off the defense, and he's competing to be the primary complementary receiver opposite A.J. Green.|

Bengals | Tyler Eifert limited at OTAs last week Sun May 27, 03:43 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) was reportedly moving at 'half speed' last week at OTAs and did not take part in team drills, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski.
|Footballguys view: Eifert is a talented player when healthy, but it's the whole 'healthy' thing that he's struggled with as a pro. He's only played in 10 games over the last two seasons, and only made it through two games in 2017. Eifert has TE1 upside, but his problems staying healthy are a concern for fantasy owners. He currently has an ADP of TE12 (11.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Bengals | Mark Walton to play on special teams? Sat May 26, 09:22 PM
Cincinnati Bengals RB Mark Walton will mainly contribute on special teams this season, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
|Footballguys view: Walton will have to do that as a rookie as time in the backfield may be hard to come by. Joe Mixon is the team's lead back and Gio Bernard is still playing as their pass-catching back. Walton has a dash of Clinton Portis to his game, so he's a prospect dynasty owners should be quite interested in...he'll just have to wait for an opportunity.|
Bengals | Cedric Ogbuehi to work at several spots Sat May 26, 01:24 PM
Cincinnati Bengals OT Cedric Ogbuehi will work at left tackle and right tackle during organized team activities and is expected to receive time at guard.Link to story
Bengals | Tyler Boyd may move around Sat May 26, 12:51 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd likely will be the slot receiver for the Bengals this season but could also see some time as an outside receiver.
|Footballguys view: Boyd played in 10 games last year and snared 22 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Slowed by an MCL injury, Boyd should be able to post better numbers in 2018. He's not going to light up the box score, but the Bengals are looking for players not named A.J. Green to produce in the passing game.|

Bengals | Carlos Dunlap a no-show Tue May 22, 11:34 AM
Cincinnati Bengals DE Carlos Dunlap is absent from organized team activities Tuesday, May 22.
|Footballguys view: Dunlap missed out on a $300,000 workout bonus by missing voluntary work. He's due $7 million in 2018, the final year of his contract. There's buzz about the team wanting to get him an extension before the start of the regular season.|

Bengals | John Ross wants to think less, relax Thu May 17, 12:42 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross said he was thinking about everything he was doing in his rookie season and it took away from his talent. Ross said the coaching staff told him he performs better when he's himself and relaxes. A shoulder injury also got the best of Ross, who said he was trying to do more than he could because of it. 'You have to come in and prepare. I've learned that. It's growth and progression from here on [out].'
|Footballguys view: Ross went from shattering the 40-yard dash record at the Scouting Combine in 2017, to struggling through a rookie season where he couldn't get healthy, barely played and came away with zero catches. The best athletes in the world can perform at a high level with a calm mind, and we'll see if Ross can find some inner peace on the football field in 2018.|

Bengals | John Ross feeling good Tue May 15, 08:10 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross told the team's official website he 'couldn't ask to feel any better' than he does at the moment and suggested this is the best he's felt since his final year of college.
|Footballguys view: A top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL draft, injuries forced Ross out of the lineup for most of the year. He played only 17 snaps over a three-game span, with zero receptions gathered on just two targets. If Ross is healthy he still has tremendous speed...and there are shades of DeSean Jackson to his game. We'll see if the second-year pro can stay healthy and play up to his high potential for the Bengals as they could certainly use a deep receiving threat like Ross.|

Bengals | Scott Orndoff released Tue May 15, 07:27 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Scott Orndoff was cut Tuesday, May 15.
Bengals | Auden Tate signs rookie deal Mon May 14, 10:56 AM
Cincinnati Bengals seventh-round pick WR Auden Tate signed his four-year contract Monday, May 14. Financial terms weren't disclosed. OL Oni Omoile was waived.
|Footballguys view: There is a bit of Kelvin Benjamin to Tate's game, but the consistent play was just not there in college at Florida State. At 6'4" 228 pounds, Tate has the size to dominate in the red zone as evidenced by the 16 touchdowns he's scored over the last two seasons. We'll monitor Tate in dynasty leagues.|
Bengals | Three skill players among latest UDFA signings Sun May 13, 06:50 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals have signed RB Quinton Flowers (South Florida), TE Jordan Franks (Central Florida), and RB Ray Lawry (Old Dominion) as unrestricted free agents.Link to story
Bengals | Cincy signs three more picks Sat May 12, 02:03 PM
Cincinnati Bengals second-round draft choice S Jessie Bates, fourth-round draft choice RB Mark Walton and fifth-round draft choice CB Darius Phillips signed four-year contracts with the Bengals Saturday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Walton is one of our favorite 'sleeper' RBs in this draft class from a dynasty perspective. There were shades of Clinton Portis to his game when Walton played for the Miami Hurricanes (just like Portis). Walton is not a big back, but at 205 pounds he's got plenty of toughness to run inside and the speed to break it outside when possible. He needs to stay healthy in order to play up to his potential in the pros.|
Bengals | Four Bengals picks sign deals Fri May 11, 05:22 PM
Cincinnati Bengals fifth-round draft choices CB Davontae Harris and DT Andrew Brown and seventh-round draft choices QB Logan Woodside and OG Rod Taylor signed four-year contracts Friday, May 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Woodside could be an interesting developmental quarterback. He was incredibly accurate in college, and Woodside put up some big numbers leading the Toledo offense finishing his college career as the all-time leader for the Rockets in passing yards (10,514) and passing touchdowns (93). He doesn't have the strongest arm and is undersized by NFL standards.|
Bengals | Devonte Boyd joins Bengals Fri May 11, 05:14 PM
Undrafted free-agent WR Devonte Boyd (Nevada-Las Vegas) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals Friday, May 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: At 6'1" 185 pounds, Boyd isn't afraid to go across the middle of the field and has good run-after-the-catch ability. He can be pushed around by stronger corners and needs to improve his play strength to maximize his pro potential. He's buried on the depth chart but is athletic enough to perhaps make the team as a deep reserve receiver and return man.|
Bengals | Ka'Raun White claimed by Bengals Tue May 8, 06:02 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals claimed WR Ka'Raun White was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, May 8.
|Footballguys view: Undrafted out of West Virginia this year, White caught 61 passes for 1,004 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2017 season. At 6'1" 205 pounds, White's game is about making defenders miss after the catch. He'll compete for a reserve spot on the roster and is certainly no lock for the 53.|
Bengals | Moritz Boehringer joins Bengals Tue May 1, 04:10 PM
Free-agent WR Moritz Boehringer (Vikings) was signed to an undisclosed deal by the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday, May 1.
|Footballguys view: The German WR/TE drew some attention when he was selected by the Vikings years ago in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Boehringer is joining the Bengals as part of International Player Pathway program.|

Bengals | Coach likes Malik Jefferson's versatility Sun Apr 29, 06:56 PM
Cincinnati Bengals LB Malik Jefferson said he feels most natural as an outside linebacker, but head coach Marvin Lewis said he believes Jefferson can play all three linebacker positions.
|Footballguys view: Jefferson is very athletic for a linebacker by NFL standards and he might be needed to help while Vontaze Burfict is suspended to begin the season. The team doesn't a truly entrenched starter beyond Burfict and who knows what the future holds for him, so Jefferson could settle into a starting spot sooner than later.|

Bengals | Auden Tate goes to Cincinnati Sat Apr 28, 06:44 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Florida State WR Auden Tate with the 253rd overall pick (Round 7) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Tate makes for a big target, but also is a slow target as he lacks speed and explosiveness. He does a good job of catching through contact, and could be a useful weapon in the red zone for the Bengals.|
Bengals | Cincinnati selects Mark Walton Sat Apr 28, 12:40 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Miami (Fla.) RB Mark Walton with the 112th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Saturday, April 28.
|Footballguys view: Walton will likely come in and compete for carries with Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, and brings a solid third down ability to the table as well. A little too indecisive on runs, especially inside, Walton is probably more of a backup with committee upside than starter.|
Bengals | Cincy goes back-to-back defense Fri Apr 27, 09:53 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Ohio State DE Sam Hubbard with the 77th overall selection and Texas LB Malik Jefferson with the 78th overall pick.
|Footballguys view: The Bengals needed help everywhere and improve their defense with Hubbard -- a solid but unspectacular end with a big motor who can blitz -- and Jefferson 1 who has the physical traits teams like but rarely seemed to produce with them. Both are upside picks, but their floors are significantly low.|
Bengals | Cincinnati selects Jessie Bates Fri Apr 27, 08:37 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Wake Forest S Jessie Bates with the 54th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Friday, April 27.
|Footballguys view: He'll step right into a large roll immediately for a secondary which needs help. Bates is a versatile safety who can hang in man coverage and make teams pay with his ball skills as well. He's inconsistent as a tackler, sometimes opting for the big hit and not the wrap.|
Bengals | Billy Price selected by the Bengals Thu Apr 26, 10:25 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Ohio State C Billy Price with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday, April 26.
|Footballguys view: His injury at the Combine ended up being minor, and perhaps the Bengals got lucky that some teams may have passed on Price anyway. The Ohio State center plays with a great deal of explosiveness, strength and knows how to use leverage and power to get the job done. He can be impatient at times, and will have to curtail that in the NFL.|
