Titans | DeMarco Murray still the lead back    Sun May 1, 07:16 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray will still carry the load despite the addition of RB Derrick Henry, according to head coach Mike Mularkey, and Mularkey said he called Murray after the Henry selection to assure him that his role wasn't going to change.

Footballguys view: His intended role for this year may not change (we shall see), but his dynasty value certainly takes a hit with Henry in the fold. We like Henry, but he's a new version of former Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. Henry is big, swift and powerful but he's a two-down player who needs room to operate. We're excited to see how he'll make the transition from Alabama to the pros.

Titans | Derrick Henry viewed as other workhorse    Fri Apr 29, 08:49 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry could be a second workhouse running back for the Titans in addition to RB DeMarco Murray, according to general manager Jon Robinson. Robinson hopes there will be enough carries for both to be workhorses and help shorten the game.

Footballguys view: If Murray stumbles early, Henry could take over and be a very effective back. For now we think both backs will limit each other's value.

Titans | Derrick Henry goes to Tennessee    Fri Apr 29, 08:13 PM

The Tennessee Titans selected Alabama RB Derrick Henry with the No. 45 overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.

Footballguys view: The Heisman trophy winner is a huge back, and is a brutal guy to take down. Tennessee is going to ride him and use him to batter defenses. This is a team that will commit to the run to help keep Marcus Mariota from having to do everything. Unfortunately, with DeMarco Murray there, we may see a split backfield which kills everyone's value.

Titans | Kevin Dodd taken by Titans    Fri Apr 29, 07:20 PM

The Tennessee Titans selected Clemson LB Kevin Dodd with the No. 33 overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.

Footballguys view: It might take Dodd a while to get up to speed, but he's going to be a big help in the pass defense. Dodd is an aggressive, high motor defender who loves to get after the ball.

Titans | Jack Conklin expected to start in 2016    Fri Apr 29, 04:17 PM

Tennessee Titans OT Jack Conklin likely will be the starting right tackle in 2016.

Footballguys view: Marcus Mariota will rest a little bit easier though Conklin needs to improve his pass blocking.

Titans | Pass blocking an issue for Jack Conklin?    Thu Apr 28, 10:07 PM

Tennessee Titans OT Jack Conklin said he could need a little work on his pass protection.

Footballguys view: Well, he'd better get on that. With that said, Conklin will be an asset when Marcus Mariota scrambles and runs.

The Tennessee Titans acquired the eighth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft as well as a 2016 sixth-round pick from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the 15th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, a 2016 third-round draft choice and a 2017 second round pick. The Tennessee Titans selected Michigan State OT Jack Conklin with the eighth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft Thursday, April 28. The Titans traded up with the Cleveland Browns for this pick.

Footballguys view: And Laremy Tunsil keeps dropping after tweeting out a video of himself smoking dope. Conklin benefits and the Titans continue to find options to help protect Marcus Mariota.

Titans | Tennessee hosted Vernon Butler     Wed Apr 27, 07:45 PM

Louisiana Tech DT Vernon Butler recently added the Tennessee Titans to the list of teams he's visited.

Footballguys view: Butler is massive 6'4" 323 defensive lineman who can line up at multiple places and provide pass rush upside with a great motor and nose for the ball. He won't last long on the second day if he is even there at all.

Titans | Might not pick up option on Chance Warmack    Wed Apr 20, 10:18 PM

Tennessee Titans OG Chance Warmack has been one of the most durable linemen during his four-year stint with the team, but the team may be leaning against picking up the offensive lineman's $11.9 million salary that would become guaranteed for the 2017 season. If the team decline's Warmack's option, they still could negotiate with him regarding a contract extension all the way up until he hits the free agent market in March 2017.

Footballguys view: The Titans will try to keep him but don't want to tie up so much in a position like Guard. They'll probably get a deal done prior to the end of the contract, but they also have plenty of time to put another option together.

Titans | Host Kendall Fuller    Tue Apr 19, 02:49 PM

Virginia Tech CB Kendall Fuller is visiting the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, April 19.

Footballguys view: Fuller is one of our favorite CBs in this draft. He's athletic and tough, plus he can cover down the field. The Titans are now picking at 15th overall, and there's a chance that Fuller is there.

Titans | Tennessee looking to move up    Fri Apr 15, 05:02 PM

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson is looking to move back into the top 10 of the NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: They've got six picks in the first 76 selections of the draft, so the Titans could certainly be on the move either up or down.

Titans | Jack Conklin an option after trade?    Thu Apr 14, 04:26 PM

Michigan State OT Jack Conklin could be a first-round target of the Tennessee Titans now that they hold the No. 15 overall pick, in the opinion of CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

Footballguys view: The Titans need offensive line help, and they now have six picks within the first 76 picks of the draft. Conklin is a fantastic tackle who could give them bookend tackles with 2014 first-round pick Taylor Lewan.

Titans | TEN trying to trade down    Tue Apr 12, 08:21 AM

Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil and Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley are two players the Tennessee Titans are torn between, and they are trying to trade down from the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft because of it, according to an executive of a team in the top half of the draft. Stanley may be the preference, but the team doesn't want to take him with the first pick in the draft.

Footballguys view: The Titans could move down a few spots and still get a quality tackle like Tunsil or Stanley. Teams like the Cowboys or 49ers could be interested in moving up to the 1st-overall pick.

Titans | Jalen Ramsey in the mix for top pick?    Sat Apr 2, 09:52 PM

Florida State CB Jalen Ramsey is among the players being considered by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to Chris Davis of the NFL Network.

Footballguys view: Ramsey should be in the mix for the top pick. He's got the ability to cover WRs like a blanket as a CB, plus Ramsey can play FS if needed. He's also a physical player who can jam WRs at the line of scrimmage to throw off the timing of their routes.

Titans | Joey Bosa working out for Titans    Wed Mar 30, 10:39 AM

Ohio State DE Joey Bosa is working out for the Tennessee Titans Wednesday, March 30.

Footballguys view: The Titans should be making teams think every non-quarterback in the top 5-6 is in consideration for their #1 pick to spur the trade market. Bosa isn't a quick twitch edge rusher in the mold of Von Miller, but he can play the power game and compares roughly to Chris Long among defensive ends who have gone in the top five in recent years.

  Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham a top receiver?    Sun Mar 27, 07:31 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he views himself as a No. 1 receiver. He also said he has been talking to QB Marcus Mariota and plans to do some informal work with Mariota before the official offseason programs begin April 18.

Footballguys view: He certainly has the potential to be a WR1 in the league...and for fantasy owners. Green-Beckham has a tremendous size/speed combination, and he can be dominant at the point of the catch. We'll see what kind of chemistry Mariota and his young receiver can build this offseason, and this is certainly a situation to watch.

Titans | Have talked about trading first pick    Tue Mar 22, 05:00 PM

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson said he has received a couple calls from teams showing serious interest in the Titans' No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Robinson did not shed any more light, however, and said the decision on what will happen with the No. 1 pick is to be determined.

Footballguys view: We can't imagine any team moving up for the first-overall pick. The Titans are likely to keep the pick and go with someone like OT Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss).

Titans | Tennessee likely will keep top pick    Sat Mar 19, 12:47 PM

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson said it would take a substantial amount of draft picks for the Titans to trade the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: It's rather difficult to trade the number one overall pick. At this time, most in the draft community feel that Tennessee will take OT Laremy Tunsil (Mississippi) or CB Jalen Ramsey (Florida State).

Titans | Louis Vasquez still an option    Sat Mar 19, 12:44 PM

Free-agent OG Louis Vasquez (Broncos) is still in communication with the Tennessee Titans, according to general manager Jon Robinson.

Footballguys view: Vasquez is not the same player he used to be. He struggled in the Broncos zone-blocking system last season, but Vasquez was also hampered by lingering back problems most of the year. If healthy, he could still be a decent starter inside at guard.

Free-agent LB Sean Spence (Steelers) agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Tennessee Titans Wednesday, March 16.

Footballguys view: Spence gets to play under DC Dick LeBeau once again. A third-round pick by the Steelers in 2012, Spence missed most of two seasons after suffering a severe knee injury. He'll compete to play ILB for the Titans, and Spence can also contribute on special teams.

Titans | Rishard Matthews ready to work    Sun Mar 13, 07:58 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said he and QB Marcus Mariota have already been talking about when to meet up and start running routes.

Titans | Bishop Sankey fighting for his job?    Sat Mar 12, 08:47 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey will have to prove himself this offseason if he wants to remain with the team, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt.

Footballguys view: A second-round pick in 2014, Sankey has only averaged 3.8 yards per carry over two seasons and he's done little when given a chance to start. With the addition of DeMarco Murray this offseason, the depth chart at RB is going to get pinched. Sankey could be the player who finds himself squeezed off the roster.

Titans | DeMarco Murray to carry the load?    Sat Mar 12, 08:41 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray was acquired in part because of his every-down ability, and he will carry the load in the running game in 2016, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt.

Footballguys view: Wyatt has covered the Titans for years, and he's the most trusted voice around the team. If he's saying Murray is going to carry the full load, then guess what--Murray is going to carry the full load. Reading the tea leaves we've anticipated the same thing. The Titans traded for Murray so he could be "the man" not so he could be part of a RBBC.

Titans | DeMarco Murray motivated with Titans    Thu Mar 10, 05:47 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray said he's 100% motivated in Tennessee, adding that he is fresh after he felt like he took last season off. 'I look forward to competing every day and getting back on track and running the ball the way I know I can,' Murray said.

Footballguys view: Sometimes chasing the money ends up burning a player and it sounds like Murray regrets doing so last offseason. He is definitely motivated to show it wasn't his fault that he produced little last season, and he could be a borderline RB1 next season as the Titans try to take the heat off their young quarterback.

Titans | Rishard Matthews lands $15 million    Thu Mar 10, 11:47 AM

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews received a three-year, $15 million deal with a $2.5 million signing bonus. He has salaries of $2.5 million, $5 million and $5 million with an annual $750,000 statistics incentive.

Footballguys view: Even Dorial Green-Beckham was only able to accrue just over 500 yards and four touchdowns last year. We think we'll see an uptick overall for the passing offense but not enough to go nuts over Matthews. He might be a decent WR3 for fantasy but we'd also like to see how he looks in camp.

Titans | DeMarco Murray as I-back more often    Thu Mar 10, 11:15 AM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray will line up in I-formation more often than shotgun formations, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.
