Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota led all quarterbacks in passer rating on play action passes during the 2017 regular season, finishing with a 122.8 mark. Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (118.7) and Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (117.4) finished second and third, respectively.

Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks was scheduled to interview for the Tennessee Titans head coaching position Wednesday, Jan. 17, but the interview has been delayed because of inclement weather, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Wilks will also be in consideration for the open head coach position with Arizona, where he is likely to interview for a second time this week, according to Kent Somers of AZCentral sports. The Panthers are likely to have two new coordinators next season.

Titans | DeMarco Murray remains confident    Tue Jan 16, 12:34 AM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray said he believes he is 'definitely' still a top-end feature back. 'I am very confident in myself and I am excited,' he said. 'I am excited about the future, and my future. I know what kind of player I am.' He added that he 'probably' would have been able to return from injury in the next game had the Titans not lost their Divisional Round playoff affair Saturday, Jan. 13, against the New England Patriots. Murray also mentioned that he envisioned returning to the team next season.

Footballguys view: Murray is under contract for 2018 and 2019, but we don't see him staying with the Titans at his current price. He's set to count $6.5 million against the cap in 2018, but there's nothing remaining in dead money on his deal. That means he's likely cut. Perhaps the Titans would bring him back at a cheaper price, but either way they're moving forward with Derrick Henry as their top running back.

Titans | Tennessee signs 10 players    Mon Jan 15, 03:37 PM

Tennessee Titans CB Jeremy Boykins, WR Darius Jennings, S Denzel Johnson, OL Tyler Marz, DE Johnny Maxey, WR Zach Pascal, TE Tim Semisch, DE Julius Warmsley, OL Cody Wichmann and DL Antwaun Woods were signed to Reserve/Future contracts Monday, Jan. 15.

Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Old Dominion in 2017, Pascal was originally added by Washington after last year's draft. He was waived during final cuts and wound up with the Titans, spending most of this year on their practice squad. Pascal was consistently productive in college and has strong hands plus good concentration. We'll monitor him in super deep dynasty leagues.

Titans | Tennessee to talk with Mike Vrabel    Mon Jan 15, 01:00 PM

Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel will interview for the Tennessee Titans head coaching position.

Footballguys view: Vrabel has gotten some interest from a couple of other teams, most notably the Colts where he seems to be in the running (although likely behind Josh McDaniels). With Mike Mularkey mutually parting ways with the team, the Titans are behind in the coaching search that others have been on for a couple of weeks.

Titans | Mike Mularkey leaves Titans    Mon Jan 15, 10:01 AM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey mutually agreed to part ways with the Titans Monday, Jan. 15, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Things change pretty quickly around here. Mularkey's job was safe when the Titans beat the Chiefs in the Wild Card Round and there were talks about getting him an extension. That fell apart and now Mularkey finds himself looking for work (reports indicate he could be the Browns OC). The Titans may get their wish of getting Patriots OC Josh McDaniels after all.

Titans | Mike Mularkey offered an extension    Sun Jan 14, 11:26 PM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey has been offered a contract extension, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Had the Titans missed out on the postseason, then Mularkey would have likely been replaced (as there were rumblings the team really wanted Patriots OC Josh McDaniels). Instead, the Titans make the playoffs and not only that they win in the Wild Card Round over the Chiefs. That's given Mularkey and his staff new life with the organization.

Titans | Jack Conklin might be PUP candidate    Sun Jan 14, 07:21 PM

Tennessee Titans OT Jack Conklin (knee) tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the AFC Divisional Round playoff loss against the New England Patriots on Saturday, Jan. 13. He is expected to have surgery in two weeks, and he might be a candidate to start next season on the Phyiscally Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Footballguys view: The Titans running game will miss Conklin if he is out or limited to open the 2018 campaign.

Titans | Two scores for Corey Davis    Sun Jan 14, 12:11 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis caught five passes on eight targets for 63 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 13.

Footballguys view: Davis gave everyone something to remember him by for 2018 fantasy drafts. His one-handed touchdown catch to open the game showed one of the reasons he was the #5 overall pick in 2017.

Titans | Eric Decker logs 85 yards    Sun Jan 14, 12:07 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Eric Decker caught six passes on seven targets for 85 yards in a 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 13.

Footballguys view: Decker had a very disappointing year for the Titans after some excitement following his signing, but he was coming off of multiple offseason surgeries. Perhaps he could have more fantasy value in 2018 in a less underachieving offense.

Titans | Derrick Henry bottled up    Sun Jan 14, 12:01 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed 12 times for 28 yards and caught three passes for 21 yards in a 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 13.

Footballguys view: Henry was a non-factor against the Patriots after breaking the back of the Chiefs at the end of the wild card win last week. The fantasy community will be watching the Titans offseason handling of Demarco Murray closely to determine Henry's value for 2018.

Titans | Marcus Mariota feeling the heat    Sat Jan 13, 11:54 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed 22 of his 37 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns and rushed four times for 37 yards in a 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 13.

Footballguys view: Mariota wasn't able to keep up with Tom Brady in the loss. He did play better than he had been for most of the season and his playoff performance has the arrow pointing up slightly heading into the offseason after a disappointing third year in the league. Mariota's prospects for 2018 would be better if the team hadn't retained head coach Mike Mularkey.

Titans | Jonnu Smith injures knee    Sat Jan 13, 10:43 PM

Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith (knee) was carted off against the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 13, with a knee injury.

Footballguys view: Smith should be a larger part of the Titans plans next year, but if this is a serious injury his 2018 could get off to a delayed or slow start.

Titans | DeMarco Murray done in Tennessee?    Thu Jan 11, 08:32 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray has a 'decent chance' of not returning to the team next season.

Footballguys view: The writing has been on the wall for some time, and it was just a matter of when the team would switch to Derrick Henry as their primary back. Murray is on the books for $6.5 million in 2018, which is too much for a second-string back, and the Titans would not owe any dead money if he is cut.

Titans | DeMarco Murray ruled out    Wed Jan 10, 02:56 PM

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) has already been ruled out for the divisional round of the playoffs.

Titans | DeMarco Murray not practicing    Tue Jan 9, 04:50 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) was not able to practice Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Footballguys view: Murray's status for the Divisional Round Game against the Patriots is up in the air. Even if he is able to play, the Titans will use Derrick Henry as their workhorse back. The Titans should run the ball as much as possible to play 'defense' against Tom Brady by keeping him on the sidelines.

Footballguys view: Murray's status for the game against the Patriots is up in the air at this time. Even if he does play, the Titans should move forward with Derrick Henry as their lead back. We'll have more information on Murray's knee injury as the week of practice goes on.

Titans | Derrick Henry expected to start    Sun Jan 7, 06:09 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry is expected to start in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the New England Patriots, head coach Mike Mularkey indicated Sunday, Jan. 7.

Footballguys view: That's the smart move for the Titans. Henry can be their battering ram against the Patriots, and their best shot of winning comes if the young runner can have a big game.

Titans | DeMarco Murray not yet ruled out    Sun Jan 7, 06:08 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) has not yet been ruled out for the AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the New England Patriots, head coach Mike Mularkey said Sunday, Jan. 7.

Footballguys view: They'll watch Murray as the week of practice goes on. Either way, they should turn to Derrick Henry as their lead back in the Divisional Round.

Titans | Mike Mularkey will return    Sun Jan 7, 12:51 PM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey will return as the head coach next season, according to controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk.

Footballguys view: There was a lot of buzz about the Titans wanting to make a run at Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. Then they made the playoffs...then they traveled to Kansas City and beat the Chiefs on Wild Card Weekend...and now Mularkey's job is safe.

Titans | Derrick Henry has monster performance    Sat Jan 6, 08:02 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6. He also caught two passes for 35 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Henry was the engine to the offense. With Demarco Murray banged up, the Titans should just continue to use Henry as their battering ram on offense. The Chiefs were often powerless to stop Henry, especially late with the game on the line.

Titans | Marcus Mariota accounts for two TDs    Sat Jan 6, 07:10 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota went 19-for-31 for 205 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6. One of Mariota's touchdown throws was a deflected pass that he caught and ran into the end zone. Mariota also rushed for 46 yards on eight carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Mariota's athleticism was difficult for the Chiefs to keep up with. He did a good job of making throws under pressure, and the TD pass he threw to himself (essentially) was a great heads up play. His play is a big reason why the Titans advance to the Divisional Round.

Titans | DeMarco Murray ruled out     Thu Jan 4, 01:13 PM

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) has been ruled out for the wild-card round of the playoffs with a sprained knee. RB Derrick Henry will start in his place.

Footballguys view: Henry is a fair runner who has had some nice games this season, and we think he could produce some decent numbers against Kansas City, though we are not expecting him to top the 100 yard mark. The danger is also that the Chiefs get enough of a lead to where Marcus Mariota has to throw the ball to get the Titans back into the game.

Titans | DeMarco Murray remains out of practice    Thu Jan 4, 01:03 PM

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) will miss another day of practice Thursday, Jan. 4, with his sprained knee.

Footballguys view: Derrick Henry is likely to get the start, and we like him as a decent producer this weekend, though we don't think he will quite hit the 100 yard mark. He's not the worst option though, and his price might speak to you in DFS, even against Kansas City.

Titans | Mike Mularkey appears to be on thin ice    Sun Dec 31, 09:58 AM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey could be in danger of losing his job if the team loses their regular-season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars or even if the team goes one-and-done in the playoffs, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: Mularkey appeared to get the team on track to be an AFC contender last year, but the offense has stalled out in development, along with quarterback Marcus Mariota. The team could use some new ideas on the offensive side of the ball.

Tennessee Titans WR Eric Decker (hamstring) should be able to play in Week 17 even though he was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Footballguys view: Decker has been solid over the last three weeks with over 50 yards receiving in each contest. He's only scored one touchdown so far in 2017, but he should get a handful of targets against the Jaguars in the season finale.
