Titans | David Cobb missed time this offseason    Wed Jul 22, 08:27 AM

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb (hamstring) missed much of the offseason with a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: We like Cobb's power and determination as a runner. He's currently behind Bishop Sankey on the depth chart, but that could change if Cobb is healthy and impressive in camp. The rookie is unlikely to be a superstar in this league, but he could be a solid starter for the Titans.

Titans | Bishop Sankey likely to start    Wed Jul 22, 08:17 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey is the odds-on favorite to start in Week 1 because he has a year of experience and a full offseason under his belt.

Footballguys view: Sankey had a disappointing rookie season, but the Titans look like they'll give him another chance to prove himself as the lead back. However, they did draft both RB David Cobb and FB Jalston Fowler in the 2015 NFL draft. If (when?) Sankey struggles, we could see Cobb take over with Fowler blasting open holes in front of him.

Titans | Justin Hunter to take part in camp    Wed Jul 22, 01:56 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is expected to take part in training camp when it opens, as the team will let the legal process play out, according to a source. Hunter was arrested earlier in the month of felony assault.

Footballguys view: This is an interesting move by the Titans. It looks like they're going to let the legal process work things out. Hunter has been a disappointment for two years in the pros, and this could be a make-or-break season for him with the Titans--even without the off-field issues.

Titans | Marcus Mariota's terms    Tue Jul 21, 09:12 PM

Updating a previous story, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's rookie deal is for four years and $24.2 million. The deal came with a $15.9 million signing bonus.

  Titans | Marcus Mariota's contract a compromise    Tue Jul 21, 08:20 PM

Updating a previous story, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's rookie deal only contains partial offset language, per a source Tuesday, July 21.

Titans | Marcus Mariota agrees to deal    Tue Jul 21, 07:32 PM

Tennessee Titans rookie QB Marcus Mariota agreed to terms on his rookie contract Tuesday, July 21. Terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Mariota is the last of the first-round picks to sign. He won't miss any training camp with his first contract in hand. That's important for Mariota since he has so much to learn. We like his raw natural talent, but Mariota will have to prove that he can excel as a passer from the pocket. After working out of the shotgun for almost every snap of his college career at Oregon, Mariota has to prove that he can work from under center effectively. The talent is there, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Titans | Justin Hunter released from jail    Tue Jul 21, 05:10 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter was released from jail on a $25,000 bond Tuesday, July 21.

Footballguys view: Hunter had been charged with malicious wounding in an incident earlier this month. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.

Titans | Justin Hunter charged with felony    Tue Jul 21, 10:45 AM

Updating an earlier report, Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter has been charged with one count of felonious assault. According to the jail report, the charges are 'malicious intent, stabbing, cutting, wounding.'

Footballguys view: Hunter was already a player who might have been on the roster bubble after two disappointing seasons in the pros. The Titans may just wash their hands of him after these charges have come to light.

Titans | More on Justin Hunter    Tue Jul 21, 09:12 AM

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter will have a bond hearing and arraignment at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday, July 21, in Virginia Beach, Va.

Footballguys view: Police reports indicate the victim in this case was seriously injured, but the wounds were not life-threatening. Hunter was charged with stabbing, cutting, malicious intent and wounding, plus he was charged with felonious assault. We'll likely see him put on the Commissioner's Exempt List while this legal matter gets sorted out.

Titans | Justin Hunter arrested     Mon Jul 20, 06:33 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter was arrested Monday, July 20, and has been charged with assault because of an incident earlier this month. Hunter was allegedly involved in a fight at a bar in Virginia Beach that sent a person to the hospital.

Footballguys view: Hunter turned himself in to authorities after a warrant was put out for his arrest. He's a talented-but-underachieving player, and this type of incident could be what breaks the camel's back for the Titans. Don't be surprised if the team sends him packing. Hunter is due to be arraigned on Tuesday.

Titans | Offset language for Marcus Mariota?    Tue Jul 14, 07:57 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's rookie contract will contain offset language, according to team president Steve Underwood. Underwood said it's important to have the offset language in place because it sets the precedent for the next round of players' contracts.

Footballguys view: The Titans really can't afford for their rookie quarterback (and starter) to miss any time in training camp. He played in a wide open spread offense in college at Oregon, and the transition to the NFL will come with a steep learning curve. The Titans are trying to prevent Mariota from double dipping in the event he is released before his rookie contract expires. Number one overall pick Jameis Winston agreed to offset language in his deal, but Mariota doesn't seem to be up for that. Stay tuned.

Titans | Delanie Walker can stretch the field    Sat Jul 11, 09:27 PM

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker was the only tight end to have two games with more than 140 receiving yards last year, and his 14.1 yards per catch were the second most among tight ends with at least 50 catches.

Footballguys view: Walker was the only bright spot in the Titans offense last year. It will be another rough year as #2 overall pick Marcus Mariota gets accustomed to the NFL, but Walker is still a quality mid TE1 going at a discount.

Titans | Marcus Mariota's accuracy helping WRs     Fri Jul 3, 10:01 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will help make the receivers more dynamic because of his 'unbelievable accuracy,' according to WR Harry Douglas. 'If you have an accurate quarterback, it allows us to get more yards after that catch,' Douglas said.

Footballguys view: Mariota's accuracy was apparent in the context and structure of a play, but not as much outside of the structure of plays. Big receivers like Justin Hunter and Dorial Green-Beckham don't need a hyperaccurate QB, but they do need one that is willing to take chances and throw them open. Even if you are very optimistic about Mariota, there should be some rough spots this year as he transitions to more pro style elements in his offense and playing without a top-end running game and tempo advantage.

  Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham a tough matchup?    Thu Jul 2, 10:38 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham was called a 'nightmare matchup for any cornerback at any level' by one of his former college coaches, Jay Norvell. 'He's not a finished product, but most players aren't,' Norvell said. 'So he's going to have to learn the pro game and that's a completely different game from college. But he's got some natural gifts that will help him in that game, and in some ways, the NFL is probably a better game for him than college football, just because of the bump rules and (less) contact and all of that. So there are some advantages he has. ... That's why they picked him.'

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham indeed has a rare combination of size/speed/athleticism and aggressiveness both before and after the catch. His game is still raw, but there are times that Demaryius Thomas looks pretty raw still to this day. Consider Green-Beckham an upside bench receiver who could play a big role if Justin Hunter hasn't improved from his immensely disappointing 2014.

Titans | Marcus Mariota contract update    Thu Jul 2, 06:50 PM

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota's rookie deal is not being held up because of a supposed clause that would forbid him from surfing, according to a source. Mariota has not signed his contract yet due to differences in contract language, according Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Footballguys view: The story probably only took root because contract delays for first round picks seem that absurd under the current CBA. Surely this will get done soon, as #3 pick Dante Fowler got his full guaranteed contact even after tearing his ACL in minicamp.

Titans | GM not worried about Marcus Mariota    Thu Jun 25, 04:55 PM

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster told media he would not mind if QB Marcus Mariota missed a few days of training camp and that it would not be a big deal if he held out. There is a piece of language in the contract holding up what should be a four-year deal worth $21 million.

Footballguys view: We're not worried about this situation either. In fact, we don't even think Mariota will miss a day of training camp. We'll see something happen with his contract in the near future.

Titans | Marcus Mariota may not run as often    Wed Jun 24, 03:00 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will be allowed to run at times this season in order to keep opponents on their heels, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt may want to limit Mariota's runs so he can avoid injury. 'The league does a good job trying to protect quarterbacks, but any time a quarterback takes off with the ball there's a risk,' Whisenhunt said. 'Then again, anytime anyone has the ball there's a risk, so I don't think you can get too caught up in it. You just have to be smart. Obviously you don't want him having 30 carries a game because then you really increase that risk.'

Footballguys view: Quarterbacks who run a lot get hit often and have more chances to get banged up. It's wise for the Titans to cut back on his rushing attempts. He's athletic, and that needs to be accounted for in the play-calling. The Titans don't want him to get hurt and stunt his development as a passer. If Mariota is going to make it in the NFL as a top-tier quarterback, then he'll need to show well as a passer from within the pocket.

Titans | Marcus Mariota deal being held up    Tue Jun 23, 09:01 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is projected to receive a $21 million deal over four years which will be guaranteed by the team. However, he remains the only unsigned first-round draft pick due to a delay finalizing the deal due to a disagreement over offset language.

Footballguys view: Just like we suspected, the offset language is holding things up. Rookie contracts are no longer a problem for first-round picks with the rookie salary cap in place. However, offset language is something teams insist on to save themselves money in case of a player being released before his four-year contract is up. Something will be done by training camp.

Titans | Marcus Mariota ready for camp    Tue Jun 23, 06:29 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he has been working on learning the playbook and is ready for whatever head coach Ken Whisenhunt asks him to do during training camp.

Footballguys view: Mariota is the only first-round pick who remains unsigned at this time. We expect the two sides to work something out before camp starts, and we're excited to see Mariota slinging the rock for the Titans this season. We'll see how quickly he can translate his skill set to the pro game.

Titans | Marcus Mariota not worried about deal    Tue Jun 23, 06:12 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he is not worried about his contract situation even though he is only first-round draft pick unsigned at the moment. The two sides do not appear to be close to a deal at this point.

Footballguys view: We're not worried about this situation either. Rookie holdouts are a thing of the past with the rookie salary cap in place. Mariota and the Titans are likely haggling over offset language in the contract. We expect the two sides to come to an agreement before training camp starts.

Titans | Confidence high for Antonio Andrews    Mon Jun 22, 11:32 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews feels confident he can crack the roster, and is shooting for a starting tailback job in training camp and the preseason. 'I am just going for a starting spot, whether it is Bishop Sankey, Dexter McCluster, David Cobb, Jalston Fowler or Connor Neighbors, I am just trying to be the No. 1 guy,' Andrews said.

Footballguys view: At 5'10" 225 pounds, Andrews is a swift runner who can blast through arm tackles. He's also an option as a return man. We like rookie David Cobb to eventually come through as the starter, but he'll have to beat out Bishop Sankey. The way Sankey looked last year, that might not be too difficult.

Titans | Marcus Mariota last 1st-rounder unsigned    Fri Jun 19, 06:20 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is the only unsigned first-round draft pick as of Friday, June 19. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean said a deal will get done and that there's plenty of time to do so before training camp commences.

Footballguys view: The days of rookie holdouts don't exist anymore in the NFL. With a rookie salary cap in place, rookies are slotted to be a little less than the player in front of him (Jameis Winston) and a little more than the player selected behind him (Dante Fowler). Mariota (like Winston) gets a slight bump in pay because of the premium price that quarterbacks get.

Titans | Jeremiah Poutasi signs    Fri Jun 19, 04:49 PM

Tennessee Titans third-round pick OT Jeremiah Poutasi signed his four-year rookie contract Friday, June 19. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Poutasi might be best suited as a guard in the NFL. He's limited athletically, but Poutasi has a large frame that eats up space.

Titans | Taylor Thompson waived    Thu Jun 18, 05:23 PM

Tennesse Titans TE Taylor Thompson was waived Thursday, June 18.

Footballguys view: Thompson was a converted defensive lineman who made the transition to tight end, but he failed to make an impact as a pro. Injuries have knocked his pro career off track.

Titans | Dorin Dickerson out for season    Wed Jun 17, 02:00 PM

Tennessee Titans TE Dorin Dickerson (Achilles') will undergo season-ending surgery in the near future to repair his ruptured Achilles' tendon.

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick of the Texans in 2010, the Titans signed Dickerson last year but he was injured in training camp and spent 2014 on Injured Reserve. They re-signed him back in January, but this latest injury could end his pro career.

Titans | Shonn Greene released    Tue Jun 16, 01:21 PM

Updating a previous report, the Tennessee Titans released RB Shonn Greene Tuesday, June 16.

Footballguys view: This was a no-brainer transaction. The Titans added both David Cobb and Jalston Fowler (fullback) in the 2015 NFL draft to boost their ground game. They still have Bishop Sankey on the roster, and he's looking to produce better numbers than he did last year as a rookie. Greene was set to make $3.3 million this year and was skipping voluntary workouts due to personal reasons. Big backs who don't produce don't get much love on the open market. Greene's playing days may be done.

Titans | Shonn Greene plans to attend minicamp    Mon Jun 15, 01:25 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene has skipped the voluntary workouts this offseason but plans to participate in the mandatory minicamp this week, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Greene is trying to find a spot with the Titans after they added running back talent in the draft. We like David Cobb and Jalston Fowler (fullback) to eventually lead the rushing attack for the Titans. Bishop Sankey is still around to put up a fight for the starting spot as well. Greene has the most experience of anyone in the Titans backfield, but he could be on the outside looking in when the regular season gets here.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham hopes to be ready    Thu Jun 11, 01:27 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) said he hopes to be able to fully participate during the mandatory minicamp next week. Green-Beckham has been limited because of a hamstring injury. He said he is also working on losing some weight.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham can only do so much off the field, though given the red flags he had prior to the draft, staying out of trouble is a major victory. Still, we know rookie receivers can struggle when transitioning to the pro level--and missing any time won't help that. Add in the uncertainty around fellow rookie Marcus Mariota and Green-Beckham's WR5 status (ADP of late 12th round) looks just about right, if not just a tad bit high.

Titans | Bishop Sankey happy with more OTAs    Tue Jun 9, 06:11 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey believes participating in more organized team activities this offseason has helped him a lot. Sankey missed most of last year's OTAs due to PAC-12 school rules. 'I've been able to kind of start from scratch,' Sankey said. 'I definitely feel more comfortable with pass protection, initial reads with running plays and everything.'

Footballguys view: According to camp reports, Sankey has been looking good at OTAs and minicamp. We'll believe it when we see it. Sankey is facing competition for the starting job from rookie David Cobb. The Titans also added fullback Jalston Fowler in the draft to help blast open holes for an offense that wants to be run heavy.

Titans | Marcus Mariota showing nice accuracy    Tue Jun 9, 01:37 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has received nothing but rave reviews during the team's offseason workouts, and wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson was the latest to praise the young quarterback, saying 'he is deadly accurate.' 'No. 1, it's his accuracy. No. 2, he's come in and grasped the offense. And No. 3 is the way the guys respond to him, the way he's able to go in that huddle and take control,' Jefferson said. Mariota is developing a rapport with all of the team's receivers during workouts, and the wideouts love working with him.

Footballguys view: This has been a constant drumbeat this offseason. Part of it is OTA "hot takes" you need to read with a grain of salt, but it's a good sign for the rookie. He'll struggle this year, but perhaps he'll be able to play better than some think.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham does some work    Mon Jun 8, 02:52 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) participated in some individual drills during organized team activities Monday, June 8.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has enormous talent and the upside to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. We'll see if he can quickly establish strong chemistry with fellow rookie Marcus Mariota on Sundays. Right now, fantasy owners are taking the rookie at WR58 (13.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Titans | Bishop Sankey impressing    Mon Jun 8, 02:29 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has looked impressive during non-contact drills this offseason, in the opinion of The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. Sankey did not participate in offseason workouts last year because of school commitments.

Footballguys view: Yeah, we'll believe it when we see it. We weren't high on Sankey coming out of Washington last year, and with the Titans taking both fullback Jalston Fowler and running back David Cobb in the 2015 NFL draft we could see a change in the Tennessee backfield. With rookie QB Marcus Mariota under center, the Titans will want to run the ball as much as possible. Let's wait for the preseason to watch Sankey for improvements in his game.

Titans | Marcus Mariota impressing    Mon Jun 8, 09:30 AM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has looked better than expected with his arm strength and confidence in the offense, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt.

Footballguys view: Another positive report about Mariota here. We know that OTA reports have to be taken with a grain of salt, but this is a good thing to read. It doesn't seem like the pro game is too big for Mariota at this point. We'll see if that changes when the rookie is under pressure from an opposing NFL defense. We like the weapons around him, but Mariota will go through struggles as a rookie.

Titans | Dorial Green-Backham wants to slim down    Sun Jun 7, 02:24 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) wants to play at around 225 pounds this season but recently weighed in at 237 pounds. Green-Beckham was sidelined by a hamstring injury last week, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt expects Green-Beckham to take part in organized team activities this upcoming week.

Footballguys view: Once Green-Beckham is ready to practice again, the team can work on cutting his weight. Losing about 10-15 pounds would not hurt Green-Beckham's game. In fact, he could be lighter and faster without losing the size/strength that makes him dominant at the point of the catch. Green-Beckham had top-10 talent but fell in the draft due to off-field concerns. We'll see if he can stay out of trouble, slim down and start playing up to his enormous potential in 2015.

Titans | Delanie Walker looking for more    Thu Jun 4, 09:22 PM

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker said he understands that the team needs to win more games if he is going to receive recognition for his individual accomplishments. 'Last year, I felt like I did more and no one cared,' Walker said. 'I broke records and scored touchdowns and no one cared. We've got to win more as a team.'

Footballguys view: Sure people cared...the fantasy community was certainly dialed in to what Walker did. With 63 catches for 890 receiving yards and four touchdowns, Walker finished as the 9th-best fantasy tight end. Rookie QB Marcus Mariota should lean on Walker early and often, so his production in 2015 could be similar to what he posted last year.

Titans | Justin Hunter playing some in slot    Thu Jun 4, 06:33 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter has seen some time in the slot position during organized team activities. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Hunter may be used in the slot to help keep tabs on who's going where on defense and to force the opposition to prepare for different looks.

Footballguys view: Hunter has incredible talent as an outside receiver, but we have yet to see him play up to his potential as a pro. Moving him around can force defenses to adjust their coverage, and that's what the Titans want to do as much as possible with rookie QB Marcus Mariota under center. If Hunter doesn't start producing like he could, then we could see rookie Dorial Green-Beckham take over on the outside opposite Kendall Wright. We like Harry Douglas as the primary slot receiver for Tennessee.

Titans | Brandon Harris suffers serious injury    Tue Jun 2, 06:50 PM

Tennessee Titans CB Brandon Harris (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament Tuesday, June 2, during organized team activities. He is likely out for the season.

Footballguys view: The Titans decided to keep Harris around with a one-year contract he signed earlier this year. He played 112 snaps for the Titans in 2014, and if healthy he'll be able to make a final roster--wherever he ends up--in 2016.

Titans | Marcus Mariota throwing well in OTAs    Tue Jun 2, 05:27 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has impressed during organized team activities, especially with throwing on the run. Quarterbacks coach John McNulty said Mariota is able to throw well while running because of his easy, natural athleticism. McNulty cited Mariota's footwork, fluidity and quick release as attributes that help him throw well on the move.

Footballguys view: Mariota is an incredibly gifted athlete, but his ability as a passer at the pro level is an unknown at this time. It's good to hear that he's looking good in OTAs, and we'll see if he can carry that over into training camp and the preseason. The Titans have crafted an offense around Mariota, and they have some quality weapons in the passing game. We're interested to see how the rookie adjusts to playing in the NFL.

Titans | Phillip Supernaw signs    Tue Jun 2, 02:15 PM

Free-agent TE Phillip Supernaw (Ravens) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, June 2.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham sitting out    Tue Jun 2, 10:50 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) will sit out of workouts Tuesday, June 2, due to a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has phenomenal talent, and he could develop into one of the best receivers in the league someday. The Titans are reshaping their offense to fit what rookie QB Marcus Mariota does best, and Green-Beckham should be a big part of that. They'll monitor him closely as he deals with this hamstring injury.

Titans | Justin Hunter in do or die situation?    Mon Jun 1, 04:25 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter may have his last opportunity to prove he belongs in the NFL, or at least with the Titans, in 2015. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt recently said, 'At some point, you either get it or you won't be in this league anymore,' in regards to Hunter's play the last couple of seasons.

Footballguys view: Whisenhunt is right. It's a production-based business, and Hunter is just flashing potential instead of consistently putting up the type of numbers he could as a pro. He'll compete with rookie Dorial Green-Beckham in training camp to be the starter opposite Kendall Wright.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham signs    Mon Jun 1, 03:08 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham has agreed to terms on his four-year rookie deal Monday, June 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The second-round pick had top-10 talent, and he comes to Tennessee with amazing upside and potential. He's a big target (6'5" 235 pounds) who can dominant at the point of the catch. Green-Beckham has great "my ball" mentality, and he is dangerous in the red zone. He also has good speed and run-after-the-catch ability. He fell to the second round due to character concerns, and that will be something to monitor during his pro career.

Titans | TEN studying offenses for Marcus Mariota    Thu May 28, 06:00 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is receiving some aide this offseason as the Titans are trying to at least somewhat emulate the offensive styles of the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals. The Eagles and Dolphins follow an up-tempo style while the Bengals use more of a spread offense.

Footballguys view: Smart move by the Titans trying to find the offense Mariota fits into best rather than shoving him into a system where he doesn't. Mariota has huge upside, but is going to be a bit of a project so playing to his strengths in his rookie year is a way to ensure he succeeds. We wouldn't trust him in redraft right now save as a deep backup or QB3 but down the road he could be very successful.

Titans | Bishop Sankey asked to add weight    Wed May 27, 09:59 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has been asked by the team to add some weight this offseason, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. The team would like him to be around 215 to 220 pounds. Whisenhunt said he would also like Sankey to have a full grasp of the offense.

Footballguys view: Sankey had a poor rookie season, and the Titans have drafted a new backfield this year. With fullback Jalston Fowler and running back David Cobb, the Titans could just roll with a power game that doesn't include Sankey. We'll see if Sankey can perform better in training camp and keep Cobb at bay for the starting job.

Titans | Marcus Mariota impresses with speed    Wed May 27, 11:45 AM

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has impressed teammates with his speed in their opening day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 26. Titans LB Zach Brown, who is known for his speed, was particularly impressed. 'One time he took off - I was guarding Delanie (Walker) - and I turned around and I was like, 'Where is he?' He is fast. He impressed me. He is still a rookie and he has to learn, but he is a cool guy. I haven't seen him get frustrated yet,' Brown said.

Footballguys view: There's no doubt that Mariota is a fantastic athlete. He can pick up yards with his feet quickly if things break down in the pocket. Mariota needs to prove that he can stay in the pocket until the last possible moment looking to make plays as a passer. He's got decent weapons around him in the passing game, but we think the Titans will run the ball as much as possible to keep things simple for the rookie quarterback.

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) had to leave organized team activities early Tuesday, May 26, after he aggravated a hamstring injury. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he does not think the injury is serious, but Green-Beckham could sit out a week.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham is a phenomenal athlete with a nice size/speed combination and great leaping ability. The team isn't going to rush him back as hamstring problems are known to linger if not given enough time to properly heal.

Titans | David Cobb asked to drop weight    Mon May 18, 09:45 PM

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb has been asked by the team to drop some weight but was nor given a specific number. Cobb said he weighs 232 pounds but wants to be around 225 pounds.

Footballguys view: Cobb needs to lose a bit of bad weight, but he's a big back so 225 sounds about right. He's a powerful runner with natural instincts for running the ball. We like him to win the starting job for the Titans eventually as Bishop Sankey is no answer. Cobb could benefit from fellow rookie Jalston Fowler blasting open holes as the fullback. He's not an ankle-breaker, but Cobb creates his own space as a runner by running guys over and wearing defenders down.

Titans | Lache Seastrunk cut    Mon May 18, 02:42 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Lache Seastrunk was released Monday, May 18.

Footballguys view: Seastrunk is incredibly fast, but he's not a patient or disciplined runner. A 2014 sixth-round pick by Washington, Seastrunk has already bounced around in the pros. He's unlikely to latch on permanently anywhere.
