Titans | Interested in Aaron Murray    Sat Apr 12, 09:17 AM

The Tennessee Titans have asked to have either a private workout or a team visit with University of Georgia QB Aaron Murray.

Footballguys view: There's a lot to like about Murray. He's an accurate quarterback who is known as a tough leader. Murray is short, but lacks the athleticism of Russell Wilson or Drew Brees. His arm isn't incredibly strong, and he'll struggle to throw deep when he can't set his feet. Murray is a backup-caliber quarterback, and the Titans could add him as a developmental prospect behind Jake Locker.

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster was present for the Louisiana State Pro Day Wednesday, April 9.

Footballguys view: The Titans could be there to see Jeremy Hill. The power back can grind down an opponent, plus he has the speed to get to the edge at the second level. Not many backs in this class have star upside, but Hill does. He's likely to be a second-round pick.

Titans | Anthony Barr visiting    Tue Apr 8, 10:41 AM

The Tennessee Titans are visiting with UCLA LB Anthony Barr Tuesday, April 8.

Footballguys view: Barr is a pass-rusher who can locate the quarterback quickly. The converted running back times the snap count efficiently, plus he has the strength and length to make up ground in a hurry. Barr is only two years into playing outside linebacker, so he has huge potential. He'll be a top-15 pick in the draft.

Titans | Visited with Timmy Jernigan    Tue Apr 8, 10:40 AM

The Tennessee Titans recently visited with Florida State DT Timmy Jernigan.

Footballguys view: Jernigan could work nicely as a rotational three-technique defensive tackle. He has good quickness off the snap, and his upper body strength helps him manhandle opponents. Jernigan does wear down quickly, so thus he'll be a rotational player.

Titans | Visited with Shaquil Barrett    Tue Apr 8, 10:31 AM

Footballguys view: Locker is in a make-or-break year in 2014. He has to stay healthy and show the ability to be the franchise quarterback the Titans envisioned when they selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft.

The St. Louis Rams like Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews and are considering him with the second overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Matthews' father, Bruce Matthews, played for head coach Jeff Fisher with the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: There's a lot to like about Matthews. He's an outstanding left tackle prospect who does a good job of shadowing edge-rushers. Matthews also has the nasty demeanor to excel as a run blocker.

Titans | Charles Sims visits    Sun Apr 6, 02:48 AM

The Tennessee Titans had West Virginia RB Charles Sims in for a visit on Friday, April 3.

Footballguys view: Without Chris Johnson, the Titans will be looking for additional running back help in the draft. Sims is a good all-purpose back who reminds some in the scouting community of Matt Forte. He can work well as a receiver out of the backfield, plus he has enough speed to get to the edge at the second level. Sims is currently seen as a second- or third-round pick.

Titans | Shonn Greene fine with RB committee    Fri Apr 4, 11:44 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene said he will be fine with being part of a running back committee because it will allow the players to stay fresh. 'Nowadays it's not just one back getting the job done, it's done by committee. I take that as a good thing, because it keeps guys fresh, it keeps guys healthy, no one takes a beating like you once did when you had one back, when you used a [workhorse] back. So I welcome all those guys on the roster to come help the team out so we can get where we need to be,' Greene said.

Footballguys view: Shonn Greene is fine with reality. In today's NFL, teams look for specialists at the running back position. Greene gives the team some power, so perhaps in the draft they'll be looking for a speed back. Someone like Lache Seastrunk (Baylor) could make a lot of sense as a third-round pick.

Titans | Will look for running back help in the draft    Fri Apr 4, 03:38 PM

The Tennessee Titans will look for running back help in the 2014 NFL Draft, according to general manager Ruston Webster.

Footballguys view: With Chris Johnson released, the team has a need at the position. They already have Shonn Greene in the fold, so perhaps they won't look for another power back in the draft. This means a speed back like Lache Seastrunk (Baylor) could be their target in the second or third round of the draft.

Titans | Chris Johnson to be released    Fri Apr 4, 12:02 PM

The Tennessee Titans plan on releasing RB Chris Johnson Friday, April 4, according to sources. He averaged a career-worst 3.9 yards per carry in 2013 and didn't have a run longer than 30 yards. Johnson is scheduled to make $8 million in 2014.

Footballguys view: That $8 million cap number kept any team from trading for the veteran runner. At this time, we could see teams like the Jets, Cowboys and Giants show interest in Johnson once he's on the open market.

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to meet with UCLA LB Anthony Barr Tuesday, April 8.

Footballguys view: Barr is arguably the best 3-4 outside linebacker in this draft class. He's got the length and speed to make up ground quickly when pursuing the quarterback. In addition to rushing the passer, Barr can drop back and cover effectively because of his athleticism.

Titans | Derek Carr scheduled to visit    Wed Apr 2, 12:08 PM

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to meet with Fresno State QB Derek Carr Wednesday, April 2.

Footballguys view: The Titans could consider Carr if he falls to them in the second round. Carr may be off the board before they pick at 11th overall in the first round. Jake Locker has failed to be the franchise quarterback the team thought he'd be when they selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. They could (should) add another quarterback to push him for the starting job.

Ohio State CB Bradley Roby has a pre-draft visit scheduled with the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Roby has the speed to close quickly on the football. He's a bit undersized, but he plays bigger than his size and is known as a hyper-aggressive player. Roby should be a late first- or early second-round pick.

The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to meet with Vanderbilt WR Jordan Matthews Monday, March 31.

Footballguys view: Matthews would be a good fit for any team interested. He's a precise route-runner with strong hands and concentration. Matthews doesn't get much separation in his routes, but he does make contested catches. As of now, Matthews is considered a second-round pick.

The Tennessee Titans are expected to get the ball to TE Delanie Walker more often during the 2014 NFL season.

Footballguys view: It's good news for Walker's dynasty owners. New head coach Ken Whisenhunt knew how best to use Ladarius Green and Antonio Gates last year for the Chargers. Walker could be a nice low-end TE2 with upside in 2014.
