New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee) are both listed as probable for the team's Week 12 game Monday, Nov. 24.

Footballguys view: The Bills are tough on the road and the Jets have wavered on their commitment to Ivory as of late, so stay away from this situation if you can.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson practice fully    Thu Nov 20, 04:22 PM

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 20.

Footballguys view: We don't know when this game (or where) will be played an so there is always the risk of something going wrong and you being out of luck. If you feel like rolling the dice, Ivory is a borderline RB3/RB4 and Johnson is an RB5.

Jets | Eric Decker over hamstring issues    Thu Nov 20, 11:34 AM

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) said he has recovered from the hamstring injury he has been dealing with since training camp.

Footballguys view: It only took about a dozen weeks, but Decker might finally be healthy. While that may be the case and Michael Vick has actually looked pretty good the last few weeks, this offense is still a mess and on top of that, the weather in Buffalo is a nightmare. If you have to start him, WR4 is the top end, but given the offense and the snow, we'd avoid him.

Jets | Eric Decker feeling strong    Wed Nov 19, 08:18 PM

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) said Wednesday, Nov. 19, his hamstring improved over the bye week. 'I feel good, I feel good physically, more so mentally,' Decker said. 'You step away for a bit and get a refresh, a restart.'

Footballguys view: Decker's feeling good, and that's nothing but a good thing. We'll see if Michael Vick can help keep this passing game afloat. The team has looked better with Vick under center, and the QB change has helped both Decker and Percy Harvin.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full go    Wed Nov 19, 04:19 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Footballguys view: Johnson could be the starter again for the Jets, but he'll be splitting time with Chris Ivory as per usual. This makes him a RB3 for fantasy owners.

Jets | Chris Ivory practices in full    Wed Nov 19, 04:16 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Footballguys view: Ivory outproduced Chris Johnson before the team's bye week in the victory over the Steelers in Week 10. Weather could certainly play a factor in this week's game against the Bills. We see Ivory as a low-end RB2 because he'll still be splitting time in a RBBC with Johnson.

Jets | Michael Vick mum on future    Tue Nov 11, 04:59 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick said his future as a New York Jet isn't in his hands. Vick said he likes New York, but whether he stays there won't be his decision to make.

Footballguys view: The Jets beat the Steelers in Week 10, but they are a mess as an organization. We're expecting them to add another quarterback through the NFL draft.

Jets | Michael Vick voices opinion on starting    Mon Nov 10, 02:49 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick believes he should have been starting sooner than Week 9, subtly stating the Jets would be in a better position had that been the case.

Footballguys view: LOL, so much for being a veteran backup. Vick walked the company line when he was the second-string guy behind Geno Smith. Now, he's touting his own ability--and with good reason. The Jets offense has more life with Vick under center.

Jets | Chris Johnson hopes role increases    Fri Nov 7, 05:56 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson hopes to see his role continue to increase after more than 100 combined yards in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said the team likes to pair Johnson and RB Chris Ivory in a rotation depending on the game situations. 'I think it's important for any running back to be able to get carries early and get consistent carries,' Johnson said. 'I don't think there's any running back out there that can get a couple carries and really be successful without being able to get in a rhythm.'

Footballguys view: Johnson is still only a low-end what the heck flex, even with a little more work in the poor Jets offense. He is more of an obstacle to Chris Ivory's fantasy value than a creator of fantasy value himself.

Jets | Geno Smith to serve as backup    Fri Nov 7, 04:50 PM

New York Jets QB Geno Smith (shoulder) has improved enough that he'll serve as the backup to QB Michael Vick in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Jets | Chris Johnson practices fully    Thu Nov 6, 04:23 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) practiced fully Thursday, Nov. 6.

Footballguys view: Johnson has been a disappointment this season, but he complained about his role and received more touches last week. In Week 10, he is no better than a RB3/flex against Pittsburgh.

Jets | Michael Vick a full participant    Thu Nov 6, 04:21 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick (foot) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Footballguys view: Well Jets fans might want to see Matt Simms, but Vick probably gives them the best chance to win. Vick isn't going to help your fantasy team though.

Jets | Percy Harvin limited Thursday    Thu Nov 6, 04:07 PM

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (heel) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Footballguys view: We think Harvin could compile low-end WR2 numbers, if just because the Jets will be trailing and throwing a ton. He may not find the end zone though, which limits his overall impact.

Jets | Jeremy Kerley to miss practice Friday    Thu Nov 6, 02:56 PM

New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (personal) will not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 7, but should be able to play in Week 10.

Footballguys view: Kerley has been a non-factor in a giant non-factor of an offense. With Percy Harvin and Eric Decker in the house, the few fantasy scraps available aren't going to come from him. Avoid him.

Jeremy Kerley player page

Jets | Jeremy Kerley misses practice    Thu Nov 6, 01:54 PM

New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (personal) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 6, because of a personal issue.

Footballguys view: Could he have been flying the "Fire John Idzik" airplane? Probably not, and when he does come back, he is unlikely to have much of an impact with Eric Decker and now Percy Harvin in the house.

Jets | Chris Johnson fully practices    Wed Nov 5, 04:40 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Footballguys view: Johnson complained about his role in the offense, and he was fed the rock last week. We'll see if that can continue in Week 10 against the Steelers. It's difficult to trust Johnson, so consider him a low-end RB3/flex play so long as he's getting most of the touches at running back.

Jets | Michael Vick fully practices    Wed Nov 5, 04:38 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Footballguys view: Vick is going up against the injury-depleted Steelers defense in Week 10. You could do a lot worse if you're in need of a QB during a week where six teams are on bye.

Jets | Geno Smith's injury minor    Tue Nov 4, 02:24 PM

New York Jets QB Geno Smith (shoulder) continues to insist that his shoulder injury is minor, but he isn't completely sure that he'll be available as the backup quarterback in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I hope he's fine, but we'll see as the week progresses and things," head coach Rex Ryan said. "He was able to throw, all that type of stuff, for the most part. I know he feels better right now, so hopefully that's a good sign."

Footballguys view: Smith might be back as the backup behind Michael Vick, but getting back to the starting job might be a stretch. The team's passing game looked more robust with Vick as the starter in Week 9.

Jets | Jets not concerned about Michael Vick    Tue Nov 4, 02:10 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick (foot) will start in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers unless he has any setbacks this week. Head coach Rex Ryan said he is 'really not concerned' about Vick's foot for this weekend. "I'm just going to continue to get treatment all week and just keep doing the same things I did last week and just try not to get it stepped on," Vick said. "Yeah, I'll be good (to play against the Steelers)."

Footballguys view: Vick made the passing game look better..and he didn't do much as a runner in Week 9. He'll be the starter over a banged up Geno Smith once again this week.

Jets | Eric Decker finds end zone    Sun Nov 2, 04:40 PM

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) was active in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he finished with nine receptions for 63 yards and a score. Decker was targeted 12 times.

Footballguys view: Decker isn't getting the downfield targets he got with Peyton Manning, but he is getting volume and converting it into nice days in PPR leagues. He looks like a safe WR3/Flex start with upside against Pittsburgh next week.

Jets | Percy Harvin posts big stat line    Sun Nov 2, 04:39 PM

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin caught 11 passes for 129 yards in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, his second game since being acquired from the Seattle Seahawks via trade. He also ran once for eight yards.

Footballguys view: Harvin started this game and he was frequently targeted, including a deep ball on the sidelines he was able to reel in. He could be an every week fantasy starter again after all. It will be hard to bench him against Pittsburgh next week.

Jets | Michael Vick to start in Week 10    Sun Nov 2, 04:16 PM

New York Jets QB Michael Vick will start in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Rex Ryan said Sunday, Nov. 2.

Footballguys view: This is a week-to-week decision, and apparently it has already been made. Vick reminded us of how much his injury prone nature makes him a dangerous start in any week, and a lot of his production game with the Jets behind by multiple scores. The Steelers aren't as good of a defense as the Chiefs, but Vick is still a dicey start even in 2QB leagues next week, but with six teams on bye, you might not have a choice.

Jets | Michael Vick leaves game    Sun Nov 2, 03:17 PM

The New York Jets have declared OL Dakota Dozier, CB Darrin Walls, QB Geno Smith, DE IK Enemkpali, DL T.J. Barnes, WR Walter Powell, OG Wesley Johnson inactive for Week 9.

Footballguys view: Smith is down with a "shoulder injury", but probably more to protect his pride as he could start again this year.

Jets | One promoted, one cut    Sat Nov 1, 06:42 PM

The New York Jets waived WR Chris Owusu and promoted QB Matt Simms to the 53-man roster Saturday, Nov. 1.

Footballguys view: Simms might get a look sometime the rest of the season, but this is also in part because Geno Smith's shoulder has been bothering him. Still, would anyone be shocked if Simms got a shot? Vick is a patch at most and it appears Geno Smith is not the answer at quarterback. If the Jets could get someone competent under center, Eric Decker and Percy Harvin would have a lot more value.

Jets | Make two roster moves    Sat Nov 1, 01:53 PM

The New York Jets signed QB Matt Simms to the active roster from the practice squad and released WR Chris Owusu Saturday, Nov. 1.

Footballguys view: This could be a sign that the team is going to take a look at Simms as a starter. They are pretty sure Geno Smith isn't their guy and at best Mike Vick is a placeholder. None of this is going to help you at quarterback but if they can find someone at least halfway competent, it will help Eric Decker and Percy Harvin.

Jets | Percy Harvin a focal point of offense    Fri Oct 31, 08:02 PM

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin played 44 of 84 snaps in his debut with the team in Week 8, lining up in the backfield and running some deep routes. The Jets are making it a point to immediately get the ball into his hands.

Footballguys view: Harvin had three targets 30 yards or more downfield, and he should continue to lead the team in targets in addition to getting some touches as a runner. His value certainly hasn't gone down since being traded away from the Seahawks.

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 31, and is probable for Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: Decker seems to be 100% again, but the Jets pass offense has been flatlining and it's hard to say whether Percy Harvin's presence will help or hurt Decker's prospects.

Jets | Friday injury report    Fri Oct 31, 04:17 PM

Jets | Chris Johnson frustrated with role    Thu Oct 30, 06:02 PM

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson, who carried the ball just three times for seven yards in Week 8, said he's frustrated with his limited role in the offense. 'This is the first time I've ever felt this type of frustration, but there's nothing I can really do about it right now,' Johnson said. Johnson and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed the possibility of expanded his role two weeks ago, but that hasn't come to fruition.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are frustrated with Johnson's performance so far this year. We're not confident anything will change with the Jets offense...even with a new starting quarterback in Michael Vick. Head coach Rex Ryan insisted that Johnson isn't being phased out of the offense.
