Jets | Sheldon Richardson suspended    Thu Jun 30, 12:59 PM

New York Jets DE Sheldon Richardson was suspended one game for a personal conduct violation Thursday, June 30.

Footballguys view: Despite driving 143 MPH evading police cars with a child in the car and reeking of pot. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is suspended four games for an underinflated ball. You have to love the NFL's random suspension generator.

Jets | Marcus Williams should see more time    Wed Jun 29, 06:55 PM

New York Jets CB Marcus Williams was on the field for 27% of the defensive snaps in 2015 but should receive more playing time in 2016 since CB Antonio Cromartie is no longer on the team. Williams should line up as an outside linebacker in the team's nickel coverage if CB Buster Skrine moves to nickel back.

Jets | Bryce Petty projected off the team    Mon Jun 27, 03:41 PM

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty did not make the 53-man roster projection made by Seth Walder of the New York Daily News.

Footballguys view: Petty was a huge project when the team picked him up in the draft out of Baylor last year. He lacks the processor to make quick decisions when working from under center. With the team picking up Christian Hackenberg (Penn State) in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, Petty has become expendable. Geno Smith should start this year, and Hackenberg should be considered the QB of the future.

Jets | Nick Folk will have competition    Sun Jun 26, 05:06 PM

New York Jets PK Nick Folk will compete with PK Ross Martin for the kicker job during training camp, but the team would save around $2.2 million in salary cap space if Folk is released.

Footballguys view: Martin was a highly accurate kicker the last two years at Duke, so he can give Folk a run to save the Jets some money. His kickoff leg is not the best, but rule changes should make that less important.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson ditches brace    Fri Jun 24, 09:09 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson (leg) shared a video that showed him running without a leg brace, and he remains on track to be ready for the start of the season, if not sooner.

Footballguys view: Wilkerson surprisingly did not draw strong trade interest during the draft, and the continuing recovery of his leg injury could be a reason. With the loss of Damon Harrison in free agency to the Giants, the Jets will need Wilkerson to earn his franchise tag salary of 15.701 million.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg not expected in '16    Wed Jun 22, 01:14 AM

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg struggled with his accuracy in offseason workouts, and appeared methodical with his footwork while also making poor decisions. Beat writer Rich Cimini notes the rookie showed his arm strength, though, especially on deep balls. He needs to develop consistency. Hackenberg is not expected to play in 2016.

Footballguys view: Hackenberg is not ready to assume any kind of responsibility for this team, so they might have to carry four quarterbacks. 2015 fourth-round pick Bryce Petty is not ready to even be the backup, leaving Geno Smith as the only quarterback on the roster who can be trusted in game situations. Even if Ryan Fitzpatrick is signed as we expect, Smith will need to stay on as the backup.

Jets | Dexter McDougle not jumping out    Wed Jun 22, 01:14 AM

New York Jets CB Dexter McDougle did not do anything wrong during the offseason workouts, but he also did not jump out. The team has five experienced cornerbacks, so beat writer Rich Cimini believes McDougle needs a strong training camp and preseason to avoid being the latest draft pick to be cut.

Jets | NYJ excited about Deion Barnes    Wed Jun 22, 01:13 AM

New York Jets LB Deion Barnes spent his rookie season on the practice squad, but he has made big improvement during the offseason. The coaches are excited about his progress, and he has a legitimate chance to make the 53-man roster.

Jets | Lorenzo Mauldin to play every down    Wed Jun 22, 01:13 AM

New York Jets LB Lorenzo Mauldin had a strong rookie campaign, and the team expects him to be an every-down players in 2016.

Footballguys view: The Jets defensive line has been one of the strongest in the league for a while, but they have struggled to find edge rushers to take advantage of that strength. Maudlin has a chance to break through this year and should be considered a sack-heavy IDP league sleeper.

Jets | Brandon Marshall trying to shed weight    Tue Jun 21, 04:49 PM

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will ideally play at 230 pounds throughout the 2016 season, if head coach Todd Bowles has his way. Marshall said he's played at an average of 234 pounds to 235 pounds the last five seasons.

Footballguys view: Five pounds shouldn't make that much difference in his play, but perhaps he'll feel better and be able to bounce back after games quicker. The QB situation is looking more and more like it's going to be Geno Smith, but we still think Marshall is a high-end WR2 for fantasy owners. His ADP coincides with that logic, as he's currently WR13 (2.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jets | Bryce Petty still needs to improve    Tue Jun 21, 04:15 PM

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty must work on improving his ball security, pocket presence and reading coverages, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. Petty may not make the final roster if he doesn't have a good training camp.

Footballguys view: Petty was a risky prospect when the Jets picked him up last year in the draft. He came from a gimmicky Baylor system and never had to make NFL decisions in college. Playing Madden 16 won't help him get better, Petty needs to produce on the field. With the team selecting Christian Hackenberg (Penn State) in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft we see Petty's days with the Jets as numbered.

Jets | No worries about Christian Hackenberg    Fri Jun 17, 09:48 PM

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg's inconsistent accuracy is not a concern at this time, head coach Todd Bowles said.

Footballguys view: It's not a concern, and it shouldn't be a surprise. Hackenberg was inconsistent in college and it's been a couple of seasons since he looked like a prospect with intriguing upside. He's supposed to be their QB of the future, but we'd be surprised if he makes a large impact as a pro. Hackenberg is a huge project, and his game may not be good enough to translate into being a good starter in the NFL.

Jets | Kyle Williams signs with Jets    Fri Jun 17, 02:31 PM

Free-agent WR Kyle S. Williams (Broncos) signed with the New York Jets on an undisclosed deal Friday, June 17. The Jets waived WR Quenton Bundrage.

Footballguys view: Williams struggles to stay healthy, and he's primarily just a return man...if he can make the team.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson disgruntled    Thu Jun 16, 12:06 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson broke his silence and expressed frustration with the team that he hasn't signed a long-term deal. 'It's shocking. It's frustrating,' Wilkerson told The Post in an exclusive interview. 'Because I feel like I've earned it and I deserve it. It would be different if I was just a mediocre player. I feel like each and every week I'm dominating and it's showing. The stats speak for themselves. Basically, what more do I need to do? You know what I mean?'

Footballguys view: It's hard to be a Jets fan these days. Forget Ryan Fitzpatrick - Jets fans have to be anxious because Mo Wilkerson will not be a Jet in 2017. Luckily, the team is super-deep on the line, but at the end of the day we know Wilkerson is a superlative talent. He'll net a ton on the open market, which is why the cash-strapped Jets can't pay him.

Jets | Darrelle Revis not changing style    Wed Jun 15, 07:53 PM

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis (wrist) said he will not change his playing style even though he is getting older. 'I know what type of player I am,' Revis said. 'There's no need for me to put my energy into those types of things. I've been doing this for a while and I'm going to continue keep on doing it until it's time for me to leave.'

Footballguys view: We know Revis will continue to go hard. The Jets need to plan for the future beyond him but there isn't anyone in line to replace Revis. As we have said before, Buster Skrine is a key part of this secondary as Revis is good enough to continue to drive traffic to the other side. If Skrine can't stop them - or Dee Milliner or Marcus Williams can't - the Jets are in trouble.

Jets | Kenbrell Thompkins excused from practice    Wed Jun 15, 07:11 PM

New York Jets WR Kenbrell Thompkins was excused from practice Wednesday, June 15, because of an undisclosed reason.

Footballguys view: If it isn't Brandon Marshall or Eric Decker, we're not all that concerned. The offense is already a big question mark, given the quarterback issues and the schedule, so while Thompkins is intriguing, we're not on board with him on our roster.

Jets | New York won't wait forever on QB    Wed Jun 15, 06:24 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (Jets) impasse with the New York Jets does have an expiration date, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said the Jets will rely on QB Geno Smith to be their starter if Fitzpatrick's contract is not worked out by a certain time. Bowles didn't say when exactly that time would be, but he indicated that it wouldn't be preseason. Fitzpatrick would start if/when he does re-sign, though.

Footballguys view: More pressure on Fitzpatrick to fold. A lot of Jets fans are losing their minds over the thought of Geno Smith starting, but so far reports on him have been glowing. And let's also consider that this is the best receiver tandem he has worked with by far (Eric Decker was wildly out of place as a WR1 in 2014) and Chan Gailey's offense should be a good fit. On top of all that, the opening schedule is so brutal they might as well trot Fireman Ed out there--at least when he gets killed they will still have a full roster. The schedule, even more than Smith's history, is why we are not bullish on whomever is QB1 for the Jets. Smith is no safer than a low-end QB3 and Fitzpatrick would likely be about the same thing.

Jets | Could add quarterback    Wed Jun 15, 03:54 PM

If free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) does not re-sign with the New York Jets then head coach Todd Bowles said they might add a veteran quarterback.

Footballguys view: That crash you heard was Bryce Petty dropping his lunch tray in the cafeteria, probably because there was a fly in his pudding but also because if the team pulls in a veteran, Petty is likely the odd man out. Hackenberg is too valuable to risk getting snagged on the way to the practice squad, and Geno Smith would start. There's no way the Jets burn four roster spots on the position so Petty could be in trouble if he can't show improvement this summer.

Jets | Darrelle Revis doing some work    Wed Jun 15, 02:12 PM

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis (wrist) is participating in positional drills Wednesday, June 15.

Footballguys view: Revis is on the downward slide of his career but he remains very good. What might be a bigger deal is how things go with Buster Skrine on the other side of the field. Even at 50 percent optimum Revis, most teams will shy away from him, especially if Skrine falters.

Jets | Wesley Johnson nursing hand fracture    Wed Jun 15, 12:55 AM

New York Jets C Wesley Johnson (hand) is sidelined due to a fractured bone in his hand/wrist area, a source said Tuesday, June 14. Head coach Todd Bowles would not reveal the nature of the injury, but said he hopes the backup center will be ready for training camp.

Jets | Wesley Johnson out for minicamp    Tue Jun 14, 08:29 PM

Jets | No deadline for Ryan Fitzpatrick    Tue Jun 14, 06:39 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) and the New York Jets do not have a 'drop-dead deadline' to get a deal done, according to head coach Todd Bowles. It was reported Monday, June 13, that there had been no progress in contract talks with Fitzpatrick.

Footballguys view: The Jets are slow-playing this Fitzpatrick situation. He's gone from scoffing at their offer to being interested in any sort of deal they give him. The team is ready to move forward with Geno Smith as their likely starter while rookie Christian Hackenberg is seen as the developmental QB.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson could hold out    Tue Jun 14, 02:59 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson will not sign his franchise tender any time soon. He also may not report for training camp as he continues to wait for a long-term contract, according to sources. Wilkerson is not present for the Jets' mandatory minicamp, but he will not be fined for missing it because he has not signed his tender. He would also not be fined for skipping training camp, if he does so, for the same reason.

Footballguys view: We're expecting him to hold out, and this may spread into the regular season. The Jets have shown absolutely zero interest in signing Wilkerson to a long-term deal, and he does not want to play on the one-year franchise tender. The situation has always been cold throughout the offseason, and we're not looking for things to warm up before the July 15th deadline.

Jets | Darrelle Revis expects to be ready    Tue Jun 14, 12:53 PM

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis (wrist) said he expects to be ready to take part in training camp next month.

Footballguys view: Revis may not quite be the same player he used to be, but he's still an impact player who is dangerous to throw at. The Jets will monitor him closely through camp, and we may see his playing time in the preseason limited.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson might not report    Mon Jun 13, 09:57 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson is still unhappy he does not have a long-term contract, and he will not sign his franchise-tag tender anytime soon. As such, he might not report for the start of training camp in late July, sources said Monday. He will skip the team's mandatory minicamp, which starts Tuesday, June 14. Because he hasn't signed his tender, he cannot be fined for not participating in the three-day event.

Footballguys view: The Jets have given no indication that they are willing to give Wilkerson a long-term deal. The two sides have until July 15th to work out a deal, but we're not optimistic that something will get done. After the deadline, then we'll see if Wilkerson is willing to sit out during training camp and perhaps the regular season.

Jets | No progress in Ryan Fitzpatrick talks    Mon Jun 13, 08:42 AM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) hasn't made progress on contract talks with the New York Jets, as of Monday, June 13. It's unknown if something will get done before training camp.

Footballguys view: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Wake us up when something actually happens.

Jets | Geno Smith practiced with top receivers    Thu Jun 9, 07:20 PM

New York Jets QB Geno Smith has thrown to Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. and Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry this offseason. Landry said eight or nine players gathered twice a week for workouts in South Florida.

Footballguys view: Smith is at the top of the depth charts for the Jets...at this time. Ryan Fitzpatrick is still out there, and the team may end up bringing him back after a long and drawn out courtship in free agency. If he's actually the starter, we don't see Smith as anything more than a QB3 for fantasy owners.

Jets | Kellen Davis had surgery    Wed Jun 8, 06:35 PM

New York Jets TE Kellen Davis (thumb) will not participate in the remainder of New York's offseason program after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Davis will be ready for the start of training camp in late July, however, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Footballguys view: Davis is a big-bodied blocker, and he doesn't have fantasy value. The team is trying to see if Jace Amaro can actually do something as a pro, and he'll be the Jets leading pass-catcher at the position.

Jets | Coach wants more from Bryce Petty    Sun Jun 5, 04:24 PM

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty has improved from a mental standpoint but has to perform better on the field during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Footballguys view: Playing Madden does not make you better at actually playing football. Petty was a project when he came out of Baylor last year, and we don't have a lot of love for him...even in super deep dynasty leagues.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg struggling at times    Sun Jun 5, 04:15 PM

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg has had problems during offseason workouts with his passes fluttering and throwing the ball too high when he misses a receiver. Head coach Todd Bowles said he expects Hackenberg to perform better during training camp.

Footballguys view: The Jets shouldn't be surprised by this. Hackenberg had two disappointing seasons in a row at Penn State. Some may have blamed the offense or the coaching staff, but at the end of the day it was Hackenberg who struggled to perform well. He's a prototypical pocket passer, but we're not excited about his upside. The rookie may be painted as some sort of future franchise QB, but we just don't see it. He's got a lot of room for improvement.

Jets | Matt Forte healthy, ready to go    Sat Jun 4, 08:08 PM

New York Jets RB Matt Forte said he feels physically fresh and ready to go for the 2016 season, and he said one of the reasons he chose to sign with the Jets was because he believes the team's training room will help keep him healthy.

Footballguys view: At age 30, we're still excited about Forte's fantasy upside. In his first season with the Jets, Forte should see plenty of carries but the team may not use him as much as a receiver as we're used to seeing. Forte should still perform like a low-end RB1 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is RB13 (3.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jets | New York backs should be ready for camp    Sat Jun 4, 02:38 PM

New York Jets RBs Zac Stacy (ankle) and Khiry Robinson (leg) are both expected to be ready for training camp. Stacy suffered a broken ankle late last season, while Robinson broke his leg late in the year.

Footballguys view: The Jets went out and added Matt Forte in free agency earlier this year. He's going to be the lead back for the team, and we expect them to lean on Forte as much as possible. Bilal Powell is likely the primary backup, and that leaves Robinson and Stacy fighting for a spot in the pecking order. Both are talented, but we prefer Robinson because of his size/speed combination.

Jets | Brandon Marshall praises Geno Smith     Sat Jun 4, 12:54 AM

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said it seems like the game has slowed down for QB Geno Smith, and he added that Smith has been playing with poise during OTAs.

Footballguys view: Things change quickly around here. It wasn't that long ago that Marshall was supposedly staying away from Jets camp in protest of the team not signing QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now, he's at camp and praising a player who might not win the job if Fitzpatrick is ever brought back. We're not saying we don't believe Marshall when he praises Smith, but we're not getting overly excited about Smith even if he is the starter. Getting excited about Smith as the Jets starter is like defending the "Martha turn" in Batman v Superman.

Jets | Muhammed Wilkerson likely won't be extended    Fri Jun 3, 10:11 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson is unlikely to receive a long-term contract extension from the team due to the presence of DE Sheldon Richardson and DL Leonard Williams. Barring a radical concession from the team or Wilkerson's camp, beat writer Manish Mehta predicts there will be no multi-year contract extension.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson to skip minicamp    Fri Jun 3, 06:16 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson will not participate in the team's upcoming minicamp because of his contract status.

Footballguys view: He has not signed his franchise tender offer at this point and is not required to report for the mandatory minicamp. The team has until July 15 to reach a long-term agreement with Wilkerson. At this time, there is no indication the team wants to sign Wilkerson to a long-term deal.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick makes counteroffer    Fri Jun 3, 11:11 AM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) let the New York Jets know that he'd be willing to re-sign for one year and $12 million guaranteed. The Jets are offering the same amount as part of a front-loaded three-year, $24 million deal. However, the Jets are being stubborn and aren't willing to indicate they would be willing to sign him for just one year. There haven't been negotiations between the sides for months.

Footballguys view: The never-ending soap opera continues. Like sands through the hourglass of time, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets continue their standoff.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick stance could escalate    Thu Jun 2, 07:17 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (Jets) impasse with the New York Jets could be more heavily addressed in the coming weeks, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets could wait until training camp in late July, but Cimini believes New York will want to get something done before that. Furthermore, if Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is released, then it could prompt the Jets to force the issue with their prodigal quarterback, as Foles could be deemed a last-chance option for a veteran signal-caller.

Footballguys view: The Jets have all the leverage here right now and they will play this however they want. Maybe the Rams offer Fitzpatrick if Foles is released, but it's clear that otherwise nobody wants Fitzpatrick and his options are very limited. The Jets could offer Foles a cheap deal and likely he would take it for an outside shot to start, though we imagine he would end up on the bench. Meanwhile we believe Bryce Petty is most in danger of not making the final cut if another quarterback shows up.

Jets | NYJ not giving Ryan Fitzpatrick one year    Thu Jun 2, 08:34 AM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) is open to signing a one-year deal with the New York Jets worth $12 million, but the team is not willing to make that offer to him, according to sources.

Footballguys view: As outlined by Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, the Jets simply can't do that without really putting themselves in a bad cap position. Per Florio: "If, for example, the pending offer from the Jets includes a $9 million signing bonus and a $3 million salary in 2016, Fitzpatrick would count only $6 million against the cap this season. Under his proposed one-year contract, the cap hit becomes $12 million." Fitzpatrick has tried as hard as he could to leverage what little position he had into more money but the Jets won't budge. A mediocre quarterback coming off a career year (which in the grand scheme of things was only impressive compared to his previous work), nobody else wants Fitzpatrick and the Jets are willing to roll out Geno Smith rather than hurt their team long term.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick will take one-year deal?    Thu Jun 2, 01:54 AM

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is prepared to end his contract stalemate by informing the club he will take a one-year, $12 million guaranteed deal for the 2016 season, a source said Wednesday, June 1. It is the same money with the same guarantee the Jets are offering in the first year of their frontloaded three-year, $24 million proposal that has backup money in the second and third year. If the Jets were to agree to a one-year deal, it would be a $12 million cap hit, and they would need to clear $8.9 million.

Footballguys view: The Jets can't take that hit and won't. Of course, if Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall were really willing to do everything they could to bring Fitzpatrick back, they'd both take pay cuts to make it happen. We won't hold our breath.

Jets | Ryan Clady practicing     Wed Jun 1, 11:37 AM

New York Jets OT Ryan Clady (knee) is participating in team drills during organized team activities Wednesday, June 1.

Footballguys view: Clady can be a quality starting left tackle, but he's only played in 18 games over the last three years. If healthy, Clady will protect the blind side of whoever the QB for the Jets is going to be....Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, etc.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker practicing    Wed Jun 1, 10:32 AM

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are participating in organized team activities Wednesday, June 1.

Footballguys view: No more protests for the WR duo who rumors indicate were staying away last week since the team had not yet signed free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The two sides are at an impasse right now and there doesn't seem to be any end to this Jets QB-drama--or DeflateGate--in the near future.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick could sign elsewhere    Tue May 31, 01:56 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) could spurn the New York Jets to take less money for another team on principle alone, according to team sources. The Jets no longer believe that re-signing Fitzpatrick is inevitable after their contract offer terms became public this weekend.

Footballguys view: Where? We know anything can happen in the NFL, but there is no team clamoring to add Fitzpatrick. Our only hope is that Fitzpatrick signs somewhere so we can stop this pointless drama with the Jets. Fitzpatrick knows the system and would be the best QB on the Jets roster. Will they or won't they? We just wish they would so we didn't have to write about it every day.

Jets | Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall back    Tue May 31, 10:13 AM

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall were back at practice for organized team activities Tuesday, May 31, after sitting out the opening week in a show of solidarity for the unsigned QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Footballguys view: We're glad that's over. The drama surrounding Fitzpatrick can end at any time now. The Jets drafted Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, but he's more of a developmental QB with the upside to be a future starter. Fitzpatrick can step in and start today, and he's a better option for the team than Geno Smith. While things have been at an impasse between the two sides to this point, we have a feeling something will (eventually) get done.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he has not seen Amaro play since he missed the entire 2015 season.

Footballguys view: That's the cold reality of the NFL. It stands for "Not For Long" for a reason. A second-round pick out of Texas Tech in 2014, Amaro had a lackluster rookie season and then missed all of his sophomore season. It's most definitely a make-or-break year for the athletic tight end.

Jets | More on Jets' offer to Ryan Fitzpatrick    Sun May 29, 04:20 PM

Updating a previous report, Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) has received a three-year offer from the New York Jets worth $24 million, according to sources. Fitzpatrick would receive $12 million in the first year of the deal and $6 million in the other two seasons.

Footballguys view: About a month ago, Fitzpatrick scoffed at what the Jets wanted to pay him. Then the draft happened and any QB-needy team addressed the position. Now, it seems like something's going to give...and by something we mean Fitzpatrick's camp. We expect to see him back with the Jets this year.

Jets | New York comfortable with quarterbacks    Sun May 29, 02:08 PM

New York Jets QB Geno Smith is currently slated to start at quarterback with free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) still not re-signed. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, however, said the Jets are comfortable with whoever wins the starting job.

Footballguys view: Gailey can make pretty much anything work at QB. He was able to get good play out of Tyler Thigpen years ago with the Chiefs, and Gailey has a long history of crafting offenses that are tailored to his players strength. We feel Fitzpatrick is going to get re-signed in the near future, but if not then Gailey will be able to get by at the position.

Jets | Matt Forte could play in slot    Sun May 29, 01:42 PM

New York Jets RB Matt Forte could line up as a wide receiver in 2016. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said the Jets need to adjust their system to make fit Forte, including lining him up wide or in the slot at times.

Footballguys view: Forte is known as one of the greatest receiving backs in the NFL. We love Gailey's ability to put his players in situations that best suit their skill sets, and we known that he'll do the same with Forte in 2016. Forte's current ADP is RB12 (3.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Jets | Devin Smith doubtful to start season    Sat May 28, 01:17 PM

New York Jets WR Devin Smith (knee) is considered doubtful to start the regular season and will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Smith continues to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament and subsequent surgery.

Footballguys view: This is the book on Smith. He's super fast and can get open deep....but he's also a player who is rarely healthy...and even when he is healthy he drops too many passes. Even in deep dynasty leagues, we're not holding out much hope for Smith's pro career.
