Footballguys view: The veteran pass rusher has made this known for about a year. Lawrence signed the franchise tag last year and is waiting for a long-term deal. The last day for franchise tags to be used is March 5.

Footballguys view: Franchise tagging Lawrence for a second year in a row would be expensive, but the Cowboys have around $55 million in cap space for 2019 at this time. With Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper almost ready to be extended, the Cowboys could run out of cap space real quick.

Updating a previous report, Louisiana Tech Jaylon Ferguson, Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons and Colorado State WR Preston Williams will be allowed to have interviews with teams in addition to undergoing medical evaluations at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Ferguson and Simmons were considered top picks in the 2019 NFL draft while Williams is seen as more of a late-round selection. The physicals is the most important part of the combine, especially for a guy like Simmons who injured his knee while working out this month and could miss his rookie season.

Louisiana Tech DE Jaylon Ferguson's invitation to the 2019 NFL Combine has been rescinded. Ferguson's background check disclosed an off-field issue that made him ineligible to participate under the NFL's policy, according to sources. Ferguson was charged with simple battery his freshman year.

Footballguys view: Ferguson was the NCAA's sack leader in 2018 and is considered a first- or second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He performed well at the Senior Bowl earlier this year and should get plenty of interest during his pro day in March.

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints DE Marcus Davenport (toe) recently underwent surgery on a Grade 3 turf toe but is expected to be ready for training camp.

Footballguys view: Davenport recently posted on social media that he was recovering from surgery and that he played through what should have been a season-ending injury in 2018. We now know what that injury is and what surgery he had. The 14th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Davenport played in 13 games as a rookie and had 4.5 sacks.
