Jaguars | Andre Branch suffers injury    Fri Aug 28, 08:37 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Andre Branch (knee) suffered a knee injury during the third preseason game Friday, Aug. 28, and will not return.

Footballguys view: They'll take it easy with him and try to get him ready for the season. The Jaguars have a decent defense, but not consist enough to trust. If you wait on selecting a defense, they might be good to pair up with another one or two squads.

Detroit Lions DE Ziggy Ansah (undisclosed), DE Jason Jones (knee) and LB DeAndre Levy (undisclosed) will not play in the third preseason game Friday, Aug. 28.

Atlanta Falcons DT Ra'Shede Hageman (concussion) is expected to play in the third preseason game Thursday, Aug. 27.

Footballguys view: We'd like to see Hageman reach the potential we saw at the Senior Bowl before he was drafted, so with luck he'll be healthy. As a whole, the Falcons defense is uninspiring this year and no more than a very occasional portion of a Team Defense by Committee.

Jets | Geno Smith punched over $600    Wed Aug 12, 08:36 AM

Updating a previous report, New York Jets QB Geno Smith (jaw) was punched in the face by former Jets LB IK Enemkpali because of a dispute over money. Enemkpali accepted a $600 plane ticket from Enemkpali to appear at his football camp in Pflugerville, Texas, on July 11, according to sources. Smith didn't show up to the camp, which took place days after someone close to Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident in Miami. After Smith did not attend, Enemkpali demanded that Smith refund him the $600 he allegedly used to purchase the plane ticket. Smith told Enemkpali he would reimburse him the money, but he had not as of Tuesday, Aug. 11. Enkempali confronted Smith about the money, and the confrontation ended in a punch and a broken jaw.
