Footballguys view: Amerson got a big deal from the Raiders in 2016 and then proceeded to fall apart on the field. He's got plenty of interest, so Amerson may not have to sign a 'prove it' deal. Amerson is not going to break the bank but some team will be willing to see if he can be a reclamation project.

Footballguys view: Davis is no longer the player he used to be and hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2015. He'll draw some interest on the open market, but we can't see him getting a ton of guaranteed money in a new deal. More likely, Davis will have to sign some sort of 'prove it' deal.

Jets | Malcolm Butler of interest to Jets?    Thu Feb 8, 12:28 PM

New England Patriots impending free-agent CB Malcolm Butler is expected to be a target of the New York Jets once free agency commences. The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta posits that the Jets need a true No. 1 cornerback alongside CB Morris Claiborne and that Butler fits the bill. Claiborne is also an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Footballguys view: If the Jets can land Butler, that frees them up with the 6th overall pick to move in a different direction. A lot of analysts have the Jets going defensive back in their mocks, but this move would allow them to address the quarterback position with that pick instead.

Footballguys view: Tye is the player to watch here as we're always interested in Patriots tight ends. He was an intriguing dynasty player earlier in his career with the Giants, but Tye bounced to the Jets and then to the Patriots practice squad for 2017.

Patriots | Malcolm Butler denies accusations    Tue Feb 6, 04:40 PM

New England Patriots impending free-agent CB Malcolm Butler said he never missed curfew or participated in any 'ridiculous activities' during Super Bowl week. Butler added that he wished he could have done more to help the Patriots win, but at the same time he is preparing for his next opportunity.

Footballguys view: He's going to have some explaining to do as Butler is set to hit the free agent market this spring. Teams are certainly going to check into this to see if there's a deeper problem or if it just was a case of the Patriots wanting to use different packages. From our standpoint, it's difficult to fully trust either side in this situation.

Footballguys view: Butler didn't play on defense in the Super Bowl despite the fact that he played more snaps than any defensive player for the Pats during the regular season. Set to be a free agent in March, Butler should have more than a few suitors - perhaps including the Texans.

New England is projected to have approximately $17 million in salary cap space. TE Dwayne Allen, TE Martellus Bennett, DT Alan Branch, LB David Harris and RB Mike Gillislee all could be released to create more cap space.

Footballguys view: Solder is their franchise left tackle, and there's not a lot of talent at the position in this free agent class. There is speculation that Solder will end up retiring.

Raiders | T.J. Carrie expected to test market    Sun Feb 4, 12:48 PM

Oakland Raiders impending free-agent CB T.J. Carrie is expected to test the free-agent market this offseason.

Footballguys view: Carrie wasn't a star, but he was probably the Raiders best corner playing out of the slot. He didn't create a turnover and will likely get overpaid in free agency, so he might not be back with the Raiders, leaving a hole in an already compromised secondary.
