Steelers | Antonio Brown torches rookie Thu May 26, 09:42 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown beat CB Artie Burns for a pair of touchdowns in the first day of OTAs Thursday, May 26, and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey said he believes a 2,000-yard season is possible for Brown.
|Footballguys view: Well, it doesn't really mean anything, especially when it's arguably the best receiver in the game beating a rookie. That said, we were unimpressed with the selection of Burns when it happened and this doesn't fill us with unicorns, rainbows and optimism. Brown is, of course, a WR1. We'll see if everyone is when they line up against Burns.|

Falcons | Not signing Brandon Boykin Wed May 25, 03:05 PM
The Atlanta Falcons are not signing free-agent CB Brandon Boykin (Panthers) after he visited with the team, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: Boykin has bounced around the league over the last year. He's talented enough to be a decent slot corner, but there must be attitude/locker-room/off-field issues that prevent him from sticking in any one spot.|

Jets | Darrelle Revis could be back for camp Wed May 25, 02:12 PM
New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis (wrist) could be ready for the start of training camp. 'I can't answer that completely, but I hope he will,' head coach Todd Bowles said.
|Footballguys view: The Jets are built to play strong defense, and Revis is a big reason why as he'll protect the back end. We'll see the team take it easy on him as he continues to recover. He'll be ready at some point during camp.|

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey will return for camp Tue May 24, 11:49 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB/S Jalen Ramsey (knee) underwent surgery on his meniscus Tuesday, May 24, and he's expected to return in time for training camp.
|Footballguys view: That's great news for the Jaguars. Ramsey is a player who doesn't need to come off the field. The rookie can roam the field as a free safety with a ball-hawking mentality. He can play slot corner if needed, and Ramsey isn't afraid to mix it up near the line of scrimmage in run support.|

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey to play a lot Mon May 23, 01:50 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) will play a lot in his rookie season, according to general manager David Caldwell. Caldwell thinks tests on Ramsey's torn meniscus this week will come back positive. However, the coaching staff is still 'holding their breath' that the second opinion Ramsey receives will confirm the injury is minor.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey should play a lot as he's the type of player who doesn't need to come off the field. Early indications point to his knee injury being somewhat minor, and we hope that's the case. Ramsey can roam the field as a ball-hawking free safety and even play slot corner for the Jaguars if needed.|
Giants | Eli Apple works out of slot Mon May 23, 12:47 PM
New York Giants CB Eli Apple worked on the outside and at nickel cornerback during organized team activities Monday, May 23. 'It's going to be a challenging transition,' Apple said of working in the slot.
|Footballguys view: Apple is a big, physical corner who won't back down from a challenge. Working in the slot may not be his best fit as he's not quite as 'twitchy' as slot corners usually are. It will be interesting to see if the rookie can make plays from that position.|
Seahawks | Richard Sherman talks Marshawn Lynch Sun May 22, 07:31 PM
Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said he wouldn't 'put anything past' retired RB Marshawn Lynch when asked if he thought Lynch could return to the NFL.
|Footballguys view: We wouldn't put anything past Lynch either. He's a beat-of-a-different drummer type of guy, and Lynch pretty much does what he wants to do. No retirement papers have been filled out by Lynch, and he's been in Haiti building houses for homeless people. The Seahawks drafted three backs in the draft to go along with Thomas Rawls and Christine Michael. We won't blame you if you're in a super-deep dynasty league and want to save a roster spot for Lynch.|

Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey signed Sun May 22, 10:29 AM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed CB Jalen Ramsey to a four-year rookie contract. Ramsey's four-year rookie contract includes $23.3 million in guaranteed money, along with a $15.1 million signing bonus, according to a source. The deal (like all first-round picks) also includes a fifth-year option.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey suffered a knee injury (torn meniscus) at the team's recent minicamp. Most of the reports indicate that Ramsey will be back for training camp. When healthy, Ramsey is a rangy player who diagnoses plays quickly as they unfold in front of him.|
Dolphins | Ifo Ekpre-Olomu will practice Sat May 21, 11:09 AM
Miami Dolphins CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (knee) will be able to participate in practice next week after receiving clearance earlier this week.Link to story
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey expected to start at corner Fri May 20, 12:05 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) is expected to start at cornerback this year across from CB Davon House.
|Footballguys view: Ramsey will be an instant starter when he is ready, but his meniscus injury could endanger his status for camp or even the open of the season if they repair it instead of just trimming it. The Jaguars offensive production is in part based on the quality of the defense, and if Ramsey's impact this year is dampened, then it will probably keep the passing offense among the most productive in the league.|
Jaguars | Quick recovery possible for Jalen Ramsey Thu May 19, 09:35 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) is more likely to need a menisectomy to repair his torn meniscus, based on the typical method for repairing this type of injury, meaning his recovery time would be on the shorter end of the spectrum.
|Footballguys view: Here's hoping this is correct so the Jaguars can get the best players on the field as soon as possible.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey's timetable uncertain Thu May 19, 07:31 PM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey's (knee) timetable for recovery could be four to six weeks or four to six months, depending on the second opinion he receives, according to a source. Ramsey has two possible treatment options for his meniscus tear.
|Footballguys view: As we mentioned earlier today, this lines up with what Footballguys own Dr. Jene Bramel predicted. We will be waiting to see how this works out and when we will see Ramsey on the field.|
Jaguars | Jalen Ramsey injured Thu May 19, 03:11 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey, the Jags' first-round pick, suffered a knee injury, according to a source. It's believed to be a small meniscus tear, but a second opinion is coming next week. If everything is fine, Ramsey could be back by the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: Why can't the Jacksonville Jaguars have nice things? As our own Jene Bramel said on Twitter regarding the second opinion the team is seeking: "Second opinion on Jalen Ramsey likely information gathering on whether to remove injured meniscus (3-4 wks) or repair (3-4 mos)." One is brutal, the other survivable. We hope it's the former, as we want to see him, Myles Jack and recently returned 2015 first round pick Dante Fowler on the field together.|
Redskins | Kendall Fuller nearly 100% Thu May 19, 10:08 AM
Washington Redskins CB Kendall Fuller (knee) estimated that he is 90-95% strength and will be ready for training camp July 28. Fuller had microfracture surgery last fall to repair cartilage in his right knee. The Redskins say they're optimistic about Fuller's recovery because it was a tiny area being repaired, which meant he needed fewer incisions.
|Footballguys view: It looks like he'll be the third corner behind Bashaud Breeland and Josh Norman. He could also end up covering the slot as well.|
Falcons | Brandon Boykin to visit Wed May 18, 09:15 PM
Free-agent CB Brandon Boykin (Panthers) is scheduled to meet with the Atlanta Falcons Monday, May 23.
|Footballguys view: The CB-desperate Panthers decided to get rid of Boykin after signing him earlier this year. He can play at slot corner, but Boykin is running out of chances after stops with the Eagles, Steelers and Panthers.|

Browns | Joe Haden optimistic on status Wed May 18, 07:12 PM
Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (ankle) said he believes he'll return in time for the regular season. Haden wasn't so sure about training camp, but said he'll try to be ready in time when that starts in late July. As reported earlier, Haden shed his walking boot Tuesday, May 17.
|Footballguys view: The Browns are in full rebuild mode, but they still need a good defense and Haden is a key piece of it. In a tough division, they have to have Haden in the secondary.|

Panthers | Brandon Boykin cut Mon May 16, 10:11 AM
Carolina Panthers CB Brandon Boykin was cut Monday, May 16.
|Footballguys view: Boykin just signed with the Panthers (on a one-year deal) earlier this year. In less the two months, the CB-desperate Panthers are sending him packing. This suggests there has to be some off-field problems with the vexing cornerback.|

Redskins | Kendall Fuller expects to be ready Sun May 15, 05:29 PM
Washington Redskins CB Kendall Fuller (knee) said he expects to be a full participant when training camp begins.
|Footballguys view: The team is going to wisely take it easy on the talented rookie as he comes back from this knee injury. Fuller has not been cleared for on-field work at this point but is working with trainers on the side.|
Cardinals | Antonio Cromartie likely not a target Sun May 15, 05:02 PM
Free-agent CB Antonio Cromartie (Jets) likely will not be pursued by the Arizona Cardinals, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.
|Footballguys view: There could be an opportunity for a veteran CB in the Cardinals starting lineup opposite Patrick Peterson. Justin Bethel could be that guy, but he's coming off April surgery to repair a foot injury. Third-round pick Brandon Williams (Texas A&M) is a raw prospect with starter's upside, but asking him to start early in his career is a stretch.|

Falcons | Leon Hall not an option Sat May 14, 12:55 PM
Free-agent CB Leon Hall (Bengals) will not be signing with the Atlanta Falcons, according to a source. The Falcons did meet with Hall earlier this offseason.
|Footballguys view: Hall is recovering from offseason back surgery, and that may be why the Falcons are saying "no thanks" at this time. The Giants have met with Hall, and they might be the team with the most interest.|

Ravens | Jerraud Powers joining Ravens Fri May 13, 02:56 PM
Free-agent CB Jerraud Powers (Cardinals) will sign with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year deal Friday, May 13, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Powers has been with the Cardinals over the last three seasons after coming over as a free agent from the Colts. In 2015, he posted 41 total tackles with one interception, one sack, 10 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. He'll compete with Shareece Wright for a starting job at corner for the Ravens.|

Jaguars | Sign Bjoern Werner Wed May 11, 04:25 PM
Free-agent DE Bjoern Werner (Colts) signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, May 11. CB Chance Casey was subsequently released.
|Footballguys view: A 2013 first-round pick for the Colts, Werner has been a total bust. He was inactive for a handful of games last year and Werner has been largely ineffective as a pro. His snap-to-sack time was best in his draft class, but that has not translated in the NFL. With the Jaguars, Werner will compete for a special teams role and perhaps could make a play or two as a part-time pass-rusher.|
Bjoern Werner player page
Bills | Kevon Seymour signs rookie deal Wed May 11, 01:45 PM
Buffalo Bills CB Kevon Seymour signed his rookie contract Wednesday, May 11.
|Footballguys view: The Bills picked up Seymour out of USC in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He's got the speed to stick in the NFL, but Seymour's best chance of making the 53-man roster as a rookie will come as a special teams player.|
Texans | Kevin Johnson feeling stronger Tue May 10, 10:05 PM
Houston Texans CB Kevin Johnson (wrist, foot), returning from wrist and foot surgeries, said Tuesday, May 10, that he is feeling good. 'I'm feeling good, continuing to get healthier, bigger, stronger and faster,' Johnson said.
|Footballguys view: Johnson says he played through a Jones fracture in his foot for eight games as a rookie in 2015. He flashed big-time potential last year, and we're excited to see him healthy and starring on he field for the Texans. With an amazing draft, a new QB in Brock Osweiler and a solid defense the Texans are prepared to make another playoff run in 2016.|

Houston Texans CB Johnathan Joseph (knee) underwent minor arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason, but he has resumed running.
