Raiders | Nick Nelson signs rookie deal Mon May 21, 03:26 PM
Oakland Raiders fourth-round draft choice CB Nick Nelson signed a four-year contract with the Raiders Monday, May 21. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Nelson is a hyper-competitive player who can make a play on the ball. He had a whopping 42 pass break ups during his college career (Hawaii and Wisconsin) and he set a record for the Badgers with 21 PBUs in 2017. It's interesting to note that Nelson never had an interception in college, even though he was breaking up passes and generally around the ball if it came his way. He played right cornerback in college, but will be looking to work his way on the field for the Raiders in defensive subpackages as a rookie.|

Dolphins | Miami to get trio back on field for OTAs Sat May 19, 10:05 PM
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee), LB Raekwon McMillan (knee) and CB Tony Lippett (Achilles') are all expected to be on the field in some capacity next week, although it is still uncertain how much work all three will actually do, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.
|Footballguys view: Tannehill is the one fantasy owners (and the Dolphins) will be monitoring closely during camp. He missed all of last year with this knee injury, prompting the Dolphins to go out and sign Jay Cutler. Now, Tannehill is back for one more (and final?) season as the starter. With Brock Osweiler, Bryce Petty and David Fales behind him the Dolphins don't have many choices other than to see if Tannehill can not only regain his form but show that he's got more potential than he's shown as a pro.|

Cardinals | Jamar Taylor likely will start Sat May 19, 01:23 PM
Arizona Cardinals CB Jamar Taylor likely will be the starting cornerback opposite CB Patrick Peterson this upcoming season.
|Footballguys view: A second-round pick for the Dolphins in 2013, Taylor spent the last two seasons with the Browns. He's not a tremendous player but he should be an upgrade for the Cardinals over Brandon Williams. The Cardinals acquired Taylor from the Browns in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2020.|

Patriots | Jason McCourty may see time at safety Sat May 19, 12:33 PM
New England Patriots CB Jason McCourty may see some time at safety this upcoming season depending on the defensive package.
|Footballguys view: McCourty is going to help the depth in the Patriots secondary at multiple positions. They needed CB help to replace Malcolm Butler, but McCourty can play corner or safety. One of the most interchangeable teams in the NFL, it's no surprise they would move McCourty around the back half of the defense.|

San Francisco 49ers CB Richard Sherman (Achilles') jogged on to the field Wednesday, May 16, for the first time since rupturing his Achilles' tendon last season.

Packers | Josh Jackson signs Thu May 17, 11:46 AM
Green Bay Packers CB Josh Jackson signed his rookie four-year deal Thursday, May 17. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Jackson has first-round tools, but he fell to the second round of the 2018 NFL draft. He's big, strong and able to play with a physical style at the point of attack. Jackson always finds himself around the ball, and he can be a nuisance for any receiver he's tasked with covering.|
Browns | Denzel Ward feeling good Wed May 16, 09:56 PM
Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward (hip) said his injured hip is feeling good and that he expects to participate in organized team activities next week.
|Footballguys view: Ward was held out of some practices during rookie minicamp, mainly as a precautionary move.|
Patriots | New England signs Duke Dawson Wed May 16, 04:44 PM
New England Patriots CB Duke Dawson signed his four-year rookie contract Wednesday, May 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: The Patriots needed help in their secondary, and that's why they drafted Dawson out of Florida in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft. Dawson measures in at 5'10" 197 pounds, so he's not the largest corner but he plays with the heart of a lion. He is super aggressive when the ball is in the air and does a good job of timing when a pass is coming in. His aggressiveness can be used against him at times (on double moves, etc), but Dawson has a swagger that should help boost the Pats secondary.|
Cardinals | Arizona will host Bashaud Breeland Wed May 16, 01:18 PM
Free-agent CB Bashaud Breeland (Redskins) will visit the Arizona Cardinals Thursday, May 17, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: A foot injury suffered on vacation earlier this offseason caused Breeland's three-year, $24 million deal with the Panthers to get voided due to a failed physical. Breeland has recovered from his foot injury and is expected to pass all medical tests.|

49ers | San Francisco claims C.J. Goodwin Tue May 15, 05:04 PM
The San Francisco 49ers claimed CB C.J. Goodwin off waivers from the New York Giants Tuesday, May 15.
|Footballguys view: Goodwin transitioned from wide receiver to cornerback during his time with the Falcons...when Kyle Shanahan was there. He's been with three teams already in 2018 (Cardinals, Giants and now 49ers) but might have a chance at making the 53-man roster in San Francisco.|

Packers | Jaire Alexander signs Tue May 15, 11:17 AM
Green Bay Packers first-round pick CB Jaire Alexander signed his rookie four-year deal Tuesday, May 15. Financial terms weren't disclosed, and all first-round picks have options for a fifth year.
|Footballguys view: The Packers needed help in their secondary and that's why they selected Alexander with their top pick in this draft. Alexander started only five games last year as a hand and knee injury took him out of the lineup. At 5'10" 196 pounds, Alexander is a good run defender and knows how to get his hands on the ball (22 pass break ups in two years of starting). He should immediately contribute for the Packers in 2018.|
Colts | One added, one dropped by Colts Tue May 15, 10:56 AM

Bengals | Cincy signs three more picks Sat May 12, 02:03 PM
Cincinnati Bengals second-round draft choice S Jessie Bates, fourth-round draft choice RB Mark Walton and fifth-round draft choice CB Darius Phillips signed four-year contracts with the Bengals Saturday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Walton is one of our favorite 'sleeper' RBs in this draft class from a dynasty perspective. There were shades of Clinton Portis to his game when Walton played for the Miami Hurricanes (just like Portis). Walton is not a big back, but at 205 pounds he's got plenty of toughness to run inside and the speed to break it outside when possible. He needs to stay healthy in order to play up to his potential in the pros.|
Panthers | Two Panthers draft picks sign deals Sat May 12, 12:36 PM
Carolina Panthers third-round draft choice S Rashaan Gaulden and seventh-round draft choice LB Andre X. Smith signed four-year contracts with the Panthers Saturday, May 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.Link to story

Texans | Houston signs three more picks Fri May 11, 07:10 PM
Houston Texans sixth-round draft choice TE Jordan M. Thomas and seventh-round draft choices LB Peter Kalambayi and CB Jermaine Kelly signed four-year contracts Friday, May 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Thomas is a big-bodied (280 pounds) target who used to be a wide receiver. He's still raw at the position and needs work as a blocker. However, his size alone could make him a decent red zone option for the Texans.|
Bengals | Four Bengals picks sign deals Fri May 11, 05:22 PM
Cincinnati Bengals fifth-round draft choices CB Davontae Harris and DT Andrew Brown and seventh-round draft choices QB Logan Woodside and OG Rod Taylor signed four-year contracts Friday, May 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Woodside could be an interesting developmental quarterback. He was incredibly accurate in college, and Woodside put up some big numbers leading the Toledo offense finishing his college career as the all-time leader for the Rockets in passing yards (10,514) and passing touchdowns (93). He doesn't have the strongest arm and is undersized by NFL standards.|
49ers | D.J. Reed in the fold in San Fran Fri May 11, 02:07 PM
San Francisco 49ers fifth-round DB D.J. Reed signed a four-year undisclosed contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, May 11.Link to story

Panthers | Carolina inks five to rookie contracts Thu May 10, 07:56 PM
Carolina Panthers CB Donte Jackson, DE Marquis Haynes, LB Jermaine Carter, DT Kendrick Norton and TE Ian Thomas all signed their four-year rookie deals on Thursday, May 10.
|Footballguys view: The first pick in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft, Thomas is an intriguing prospect who reminds some in the scouting community of a younger version of Jermaine Gresham. Thomas is a raw prospect, measuring in at 6'4" 259 pounds. He can use his size to his advantage, has the speed to attack the middle seam of a defense and Thomas has strong hands. We'll see if he can develop for the Panthers behind starter Greg Olsen.|
Redskins | Washington signs most of draft class Thu May 10, 05:02 PM
The Washington Redskins signed fourth-round draft choice S Troy Apke, fifth-round draft choice DT Tim Settle, sixth-round draft choice LB Shaun Dion Hamilton and seventh-round draft choices CB Greg Stroman and WR Trey Quinn to four-year contracts Thursday, May 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Quinn was this year's 'Mr. Irrelevant' as the final pick in the draft. The 'other' guy at SMU behind Courtland Sutton (Broncos), Quinn reminds some in the scouting community of Adam Humphries. He's buried on the depth chart but has good footwork to get open against zone and concentration through the catch point. In super deep dynasty leagues we'll be monitoring his progress.|
Panthers | Two candidates for CB job Thu May 10, 03:55 PM
Carolina Panthers CBs Donte Jackson and Ross Cockrell are expected to compete for one of the starting cornerback jobs during training camp.Link to story

Buccaneers | Three Bucs sign rookie deals Thu May 10, 11:17 AM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB M.J. Stewart, S Jordan Whitehead and LB Jack Cichy signed their rookie four-year deals Thursday, May 10. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Stewart, a second round pick, is the one most likely to make the roster, as day three picks have a longer hill to climb up. We like Stewart, who can cover inside or out, and is up to the task of covering linebackers as well.|
Browns | Denzel Ward should return to field Wed May 9, 10:58 PM
Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward (hip) should be on the field for offseason workouts later this month.
|Footballguys view: The Browns are excited to see the no.4 overall pick in action, but they want to be cautious with him since he was a little banged up. He suffered a hip injury during the rookie minicamp and missed two days of practice as a precaution.|
