Gilmore was a high draft pick who was expected to be an elite shutdown corner by now. While his development has been slowed by some injuries, there has been a steady progression and he could be ready to break out in his first year under Rex Ryan. The Bills exercised their 5th year option on him which means he won't become a free agent until after the 2016 season. While he can lock up receivers and make plays in front of him, Gilmore tends to see more man coverage and hasn't shown great ball skills yet so his fantasy value is limited somewhat. (May 21)

Bills | Stephon Gilmore injury update (Sat Aug 29, 06:06 PM) - Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore (shoulder, head) was able to pass the concussion tests but will not return to the third preseason game because of a shoulder injury.

Our View: No word on the severity of the shoulder injury yet. Without a concussion, Gilmore won't have to go through the league's protocol.

Bills | Stephon Gilmore leaves game (Sat Aug 29, 05:02 PM) - Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore (head) left the third preseason game early Saturday, Aug. 29, and is being evaluated for a concussion.

Our View: If he was concussed, Gilmore is unlikely to return to action. He'd have to work through the concussion protocol in order to get back on the field.

Bills | Sammy Watkins shining in practice (Thu Aug 27, 09:46 PM) - Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins has been able to beat CB Stephon Gilmore in practice on multiple occasions, and Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News called Watkins the August MVP.

Our View: We know how good Watkins is, but we also know how bad the guys throwing him the ball are. While he has the ability to be a WR1 in fantasy, his situation - poor quarterbacks, heavy run focus - leave him as a WR2.
