Bears | Jeremy Langford wants to be featured    Thu Aug 25, 04:11 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) believes he's improving at being a complete running back and would like to be a three-down back for the Bears this season. Langford cited improvements in playing through contact, catching the football and his pass-blocking ability as factors in him becoming a better player. Additionally, Langford said his recent foot injury feels good and is getting better.

Footballguys view: We're still hoping this ends up as exactly what we suspect it is--Langford taking over the full-time gig. Along with the 537 yards and six touchdowns on 148 carries his rookie season, Langford also caught 22 of 42 targets for another 279 yards and a touchdown. He has the potential to put up some nice numbers. The biggest worry might be the offense, which could slide backwards without Adam Gase. That's why we have Langford as a borderline RB2/RB3 instead of a solid RB2.

Bears | Jeremy Langford fully practices    Thu Aug 25, 02:23 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Aug. 25.

Footballguys view: At one point we were worried about a time share with Ka'Deem Carey, but since Carey was been out with a concussion it appears as if Langford has the inside track to a full load of carries. That makes him a low-end RB2, in part because the threat of split carries is still there, but we feel pretty confident in his overall chances based on what we've seen.

Bears | Zach Miller nearing return    Tue Aug 23, 11:34 PM

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) was once again in a red jersey, which signifies no contact, during practice on Tuesday, Aug. 23, but is thought to be close to returning from the NFL's concussion protocol.

Footballguys view: If healthy -- something that has been a problem for Miller during his pro career -- we think he could catch 50 passes this year for the Bears. That makes him a TE2 with some upside. Keep an eye on his return before you draft him late.

Bears | Three more Bears sit Tuesday    Tue Aug 23, 03:23 PM

Chicago Bears OG Kyle Long (shoulder), DT Jonathan Bullard (undisclosed) and TE Tony Moeaki (undisclosed) sat out practice Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Bears | Jeremy Langford still absent    Tue Aug 23, 03:19 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) did not practice Tuesday, Aug. 23, as he continues to recover from a foot injury.

Footballguys view: Langford may not be able to play in the team's third preseason game. Set to be the lead back, Langford had a good preseason game against the Patriots with 55 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. We like him as a low-end RB2 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is RB19 (5.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bears | Leonard Floyd sat out Sunday    Mon Aug 22, 06:15 PM

Chicago Bears LB Leonard Floyd (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 21, because of a slight hamstring injury, according to head coach John Fox.

Bears | Kevin White impressing Alshon Jeffery    Sun Aug 21, 10:37 PM

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery said WR Kevin White is making strides and making plays. 'He missed the whole year last year, so this year he's progressing right where we need him to be,' Jeffery said.

Footballguys view: White has been impressing beat writers in attendance for training camp, and apparently his teammates like what they see too. The second-year pro is an intriguing prospect to watch -- especially since we didn't get to see him as a rookie due to injury. He's not a refined route-runner, but White has the speed to take the top off the defense. We consider White to be a high-upside WR4 for your fantasy team. His current ADP is WR39 (8.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bears | Jeremy Langford sheds boot    Sun Aug 21, 04:44 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) is no longer wearing a walking boot.

Footballguys view: As expected, the walking boot was a precaution and not a sign of an injury that could impact Langford through the rest of the preseason and possibly into the season. He has emerged as the #1 back in Chicago and merits a pick in the mid-rounds, especially for minimal running back starts to drafts.

Bears | Zach Miller able to practice    Sat Aug 20, 11:56 PM

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) returned to the practice field Saturday, Aug. 20, although he wore a red jersey to signify he is off-limits in terms of contact.

Footballguys view: Miller's concussion recovery has been slow. He was released after a 2013 concussion and has had an injury-riddled career, so the Bears are being cautious. Their TE depth is also among the worst in the league. We probably won't see Miller play this preseason. He's only worth a very late pick.

Bears | Eddie Royal continues to improve    Sat Aug 20, 11:55 PM

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) participated in individual drills Saturday, Aug. 20, for the first time since sustaining a concussion Aug. 1. 'He's progressing,' head coach John Fox said. 'He's not been cleared for total contact, but he's getting back in the thick of it.'

Footballguys view: Royal could lose his spot to seventh-round rookie Daniel Braverman, who has impressed in his absence. He only played in nine games last year and had a paltry 6.4 yards per catch.

Bears | Jordan Howard steps up game    Sat Aug 20, 10:14 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard posted 46 yards on 11 attempts in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 19, against the New England Patriots.

Footballguys view: Howard could get some carries early on if Ka'Deem Carey's concussion lingers. He'll probably enter the season as the third-string back, but the Bears are a run-heavy team, so he should be on our waiver wire watch list if he goes undrafted.

Bears | Jeremy Langford hurt in game    Sat Aug 20, 10:12 PM

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) suffered a left foot injury in the team's preseason game against the New England Patriots. 'I think he got landed on,' head coach John Fox said Saturday, Aug. 20. 'He got sore after the game.' Fox declined to say if the team was being cautious with Langford, who is listed as the team's starting tailback.

Footballguys view: This sounds like a minor precaution and nothing that will affect Langford's draft stock, but if he isn't playing in the third preseason game, we'll re-evaluate. Fox is unlikely to give us more information in the meantime.

Bears | Jeremy Langford in a walking boot    Sat Aug 20, 07:52 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford (foot) was spotted with a walking boot on his left foot during practice Saturday, Aug. 20.

Footballguys view: It's probably minor, as we haven't heard about any injury, but this we'll be watching to see if there's any reason to move Langford down after his preseason value peaked following a great preseason Week 2 performance.

Bears | Tony Moeaki posts solid stats    Fri Aug 19, 05:02 PM

Chicago Bears TE Tony Moeaki caught four passes for 28 yards in the preseason game against the New England Patriots Thursday, Aug. 18. He has performed well since the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: Moeaki is set up to be a backup to Zach Miller, who is still recovering from a concussion. He would be a deep sleeper if he hasn't spent so much of his career on the injury report.

Bears | Kyle Fuller had knee scoped    Fri Aug 19, 12:33 AM

Chicago Bears CB Kyle Fuller (knee) is 'week-to-week' after undergoing a knee scope, head coach John Fox said Thursday, Aug. 18.

Footballguys view: Long fourth-round pick Deiondre Hall and 2015 UDFA Bryce Callahan (who has a hamstring issue) are going to be pressed into duty, with veteran Tracy Porter holding down the fort as the #1 corner, and facing Deandre Hopkins Week 1 at Houston.

Bears | Jeremy Langford looks sharp    Thu Aug 18, 11:14 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford had eight carries for 55 yards and a touchdown and one catch for eight yards in a 23-22 preseason loss to the New England Patriots Thursday, Aug. 18.

Footballguys view: Watch Langford's current ADP (RB24 5.10 in 12-team PPR leagues) rise after this game. He's a RB2/RB3 who is going to split time with Kadeem Carey and maybe even rookie Jordan Howard will sneak into some action. Langford is the lead back, but if the Bears fall behind a lot (their defense is not great) we don't expect them to pound the rock on the ground.

Bears | Eddie Royal getting work in    Thu Aug 18, 06:31 PM

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol, but he's been doing work running routes.

Footballguys view: It sounds like the veteran is on track to be ready for the start of the regular season. Barring any setbacks, Royal will be the no.3 WR for the Bears behind Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White.

Bears | Chicago could trade for center    Thu Aug 18, 04:22 PM

Chicago Bears C Ted Larsen is expected to start in place of C Hroniss Grasu (knee), who tore his anterior cruciate ligament, but the Bears have been in contact with other teams about trading for another center, according to sources.

Bears | Zach Miller meets with team doctors    Wed Aug 17, 02:58 AM

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion), who returned to practice on Saturday, Aug. 13, was absent on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and while head coach John Fox indicated Miller hadn't suffered a setback he did meet with team doctors.

Footballguys view: Miller is more than two weeks removed from his concussion, which is longer than the typical timeline during the season. The Bears could just be extra cautious because it is the preseason, but we'll need to watch this. They have the thinnest backup TE group in the league, so losing Miller for any amount of time in the regular season will hurt.

Bears | Eddie Royal could be odd man out    Wed Aug 17, 01:41 AM

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) continues to miss time with a concussion, and it may end up costing him a spot on the final roster according to Hub Arkush. It could come down to two spots between Royal, Marc Mariani and rookie Daniel Braverman, who the team may not want to risk putting through waivers.

Footballguys view: Braverman has had a good summer and should be pushing ahead of Royal on the depth chart. He's a player to track in deep dynasty leagues.

Bears | Josh Bellamy a lock to make club?    Wed Aug 17, 01:35 AM

Chicago Bears WR Josh Bellamy looks like he has secured a spot on the 53-man roster according to Hub Arkush. Already a capable special teams performer, Bellamy has shown a knack for getting deep in camp -- that includes a pair of long touchdown grabs against the New England Patriots in a joint practice.

Bears | Kevin White impresses in joint practice    Wed Aug 17, 12:42 AM

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White was impressive during a two-day joint practice against the New England Patriots according to Hub Arkush, showing physicality and precise route-running against New England's top corners.

Footballguys view: White's physical abilities are unquestioned and he should shine in a practice setting. Whether that will carry over to the field in what amounts to his rookie year is more questionable, and it makes White a bench wide receiver worth a mid-round pick in redraft leagues. He does have a ton of injury upside if Alshon Jeffery can't stay healthy.

Bears | Eddie Royal does not practice    Sun Aug 14, 11:14 AM

Bears | Tony Moeaki pushing for roster spot    Sun Aug 14, 11:11 AM

Chicago Bears TE Tony Moeaki made several nice catches during team drills Saturday, Aug. 13, and is competing for a spot on the 53-man roster. Moeaki has been receiving additional snaps because of injuries to TEs Zach Miller (concussion) and Ben Braunecker (ankle).

Footballguys view: Moeaki has always had talent as a pass-catching TE, but his career has been devastated by injuries. Even in college, Moeaki was a player know to get banged up quite a bit. If healthy, Moeaki has the talent to make plays in the NFL.

Bears | Zach Miller back at practice    Sat Aug 13, 07:51 PM

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 13, for the first time since July 31.

Footballguys view: Miller is set to be the team's lead TE in 2016. If healthy, we think he's a low-end TE2 for fantasy owners.

Bears | Chicago adds Mike Adams    Wed Aug 10, 02:25 PM

Free-agent OT Mike X. Adams (Steelers) signed a contract with the Chicago Bears Wednesday, Aug. 10. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Bears offensive line got thinner when starting center Hroniss Grasu went down for the season. Adams was a disappointing second round pick for the Steelers and he is trying to revive his career. The Bears have an opening for a proven swing tackle.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery iffy for preseason opener    Wed Aug 10, 01:14 PM

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) is uncertain for the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: The team will be cautious with Jeffery, which will be good for his re-injury outlook, but that we are talking about this so early in August is a reason to fear this coming back up for Jeffery, whom the Bears didn't sign to a long-term deal in part because of his recent issues with soft tissue injuries.

Bears | Ted Larsen could take over at center    Mon Aug 8, 06:27 PM

Chicago Bears OG Ted Larsen practiced as the first-team center for the first time Monday, Aug. 8, after C Hroniss Grasu (knee) was ruled out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Larsen will need to get used to the speed, spacing and communication of the center position if he wants to take over in the middle of the offensive line.

Bears | Hroniss Grasu tears ACL    Mon Aug 8, 02:20 PM

Chicago Bears C Hroniss Grasu (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is out for the season.

Footballguys view: The Bears may put a call into veteran Will Montgomery now. He played for them last season and is currently unsigned.

Bears | Alshon Jeffery returns    Mon Aug 8, 11:51 AM

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 8, but his workload is yet to be determined.

Footballguys view: This is a sign that Jeffery's hamstring issue was minor and his sitting was more a precaution than time for an injury to heal. That being said, we'll be holding our breath while he goes through his first few practices back with no news being good news.

Bears | Ted Larsen or Cody Whitehair could start    Sun Aug 7, 11:17 AM

As a result of the injury to Chicago Bears C Hroniss Grasu (knee), Cs Ted Larsen and Cody Whitehair are expected to battle for the starting center job, unless the team acquires someone who is not on the current roster.

Bears | Hroniss Grasu has torn ACL    Sun Aug 7, 11:05 AM

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears C Hroniss Grasu (knee) has suffered a torn right anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will be required to undergo surgery and is expected to miss the 2016 season.

Bears | Hroniss Grasu carted off    Sat Aug 6, 08:09 PM

Chicago Bears C Hroniss Grasu (knee) was carted off the practice field Saturday, Aug. 6, after suffer a non-contact injury to his right knee. Head coach John Fox said the injury looked 'fairly serious.'

Footballguys view: Grasu was having a great summer and seemed to be turning into a cornerstone of the offensive line. Now the team will have to turn to rookie Cody Whitehair or veteran Ted Larsen. This is a big loss for an offense that is moving forward without Matt Forte and Martellus Bennett for the first time since 2012.

Chicago Bears DE Marquis Jackson was waived with an injury designation on Friday, Aug. 5.

Bears | Jordan Howard quicker than expected    Sat Aug 6, 03:17 PM

Chicago Bears rookie RB Jordan Howard has caught the eye of running backs coach Stan Drayton, showing impressive short-space quickness for a 230-pounder.

Footballguys view: Howard is a name all fantasy owners need to become familiar with. He may be the most naturally talented runner in this class not named Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys). The rookie could have a larger role than some think as Jeremy Langford has struggled a bit in camp and Kadeem Carey is not as powerful or instinctive. In the last two rounds of your draft, add Howard as a "lottery ticket" for your team.

Bears | Four Chicago pass catchers sitting out    Fri Aug 5, 02:52 PM

Chicago Bears WRs Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), Kevin White (rest), Eddie Royal (concussion) and TE Zach Miller (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 5. Head coach John Fox said it was a scheduled day off for White, and Fox noted both Royal and Miller are improving.

Footballguys view: Jeffery's hamstring is troubling just because soft tissue injuries have become too common for him. It shouldn't affect his draft stock too much unless his absence lingers for more than a week, but it is not comforting if you are spending a second round pick on him.

Bears | Two Bears idle Thursday    Thu Aug 4, 11:01 AM

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (concussion) and TE Zach Miller (concussion) are out of practice Thursday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: We're more interested in Miller, as at least he has TE2 (albeit low end) value. With Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White ahead of him, Royal's value is exceedingly low and he's not worth a roster spot.
