Bears | Kyle Long likely going on IR    Sun Oct 13, 12:19 PM

Chicago Bears OG Kyle Long (undisclosed) is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Long didn't look healthy so this isn't a surprise. He had multiple surgeries and his body might not be able to handle the rigors of the NFL any longer.

Bears | Optimism Mitchell Trubisky returns after bye    Tue Oct 8, 08:58 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (elbow) is hopeful to return Sunday, Oct. 20, against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7 following the team's Week 6 bye, according to head coach Matt Nagy Monday, Oct. 7. 'He's feeling good,' Nagy said. 'I felt like the last couple days he's been in a good place. He's been a part of all the meetings, a part of practice mentally. Because that's just as important, staying involved mentally with your guys and with us. And now we'll just kind of see here, again the bye comes at a unique time. Here he is, he gets injured, so here's the bye. Now, he's able to use this and see if he's able to come back or not for the next game.'I hope he's back. But I don't know that. It could be something where it goes longer than that. I don't know.'

Footballguys view: The Bears have a bye in Week 6 and the plan all along was to try and have Trubisky ready after that. We'll know more about his status next week when the Bears get back to practice.

Bears | Allen Robinson hauls in two touchdowns    Sun Oct 6, 06:18 PM

Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson posted seven grabs for 97 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders on eight targets.

Footballguys view: Robinson had his biggest game of the year playing with the backup quarterback. He has been playing better than his numbers. Mitchell Trubisky's eventual return after the bye will dampen his outlook, but Robinson is proving to be difficult to bench now.

Bears | Tarik Cohen totals 10 touches    Sun Oct 6, 06:12 PM

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed four times for 10 yards in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders in London and he added six grabs for 39 yards on seven targets.

Footballguys view: Cohen was able to benefit from Chase Daniel starting and put up a solid PPR day, but it wasn't an impact performance outside of a long punt return. He'll be PPR emergency/bye/injury depth after the bye, with an arrow pointing down when Mitchell Trubisky comes back.

Bears | David Montgomery locked down in London    Sun Oct 6, 06:07 PM

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery rushed 11 times for just 25 yards in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders in London, although he did run for a score.

Footballguys view: Montgomery just can't seem to get in a groove in the Bears running game. He's more of a bench stash than a weekly flex heading into his bye.

Bears | Chase Daniel tosses two TDs in loss    Sun Oct 6, 06:03 PM

Chicago Bears QB Chase Daniel completed 22-of-30 passes for 231 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders in London.

Footballguys view: Daniel didn't play well in this one and certainly won't be creating any quarterback controversy over the bye while Mitchell Trubisky mends from a shoulder injury. The Bears fell behind and had to rely on the pass to get back in the game or it might have been a complete dud from Daniel.

The Chicago Bears have declared QB Mitchell Trubisky, LB Joel Iyiegbuniwe, WR Taylor Gabriel, DL Bilal Nichols, CB Duke Shelley, C Ted Larsen and WR Riley Ridley inactive for Week 5.

Bears | Tyler Bray promoted as backup    Sat Oct 5, 04:11 PM

Chicago Bears QB Tyler Bray was signed off of the practice squad Saturday, Oct. 5. He'll serve as the backup to QB Chase Daniel Sunday, Oct. 6, against the Oakland Raiders. TE Bradley Sowell's contract was terminated in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: Daniel is the starter against the Raiders, Bray is the backup. Both have experience under Nagy from working together in Kansas City. Bray has a big arm but say-it-don't-spray-it accuracy. It's unlikely he would look good if forced into duty.

OL Kyle Long (hip) was limited. PK Eddy Pineiro (knee), TE Trey Burton (groin) and LB Roquan Smith (personal) fully participated in practice.

Bears | Chase Daniel likely to start Week 5    Wed Oct 2, 11:31 PM

Chicago Bears QB Chase Daniel is expected to make the start in Week 5 against the Oakland Raiders in London, as head coach Matt Nagy said QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is 'likely missing this game.'

Footballguys view: Daniel has plenty of experience in Nagy's system dating back to their time in Kansas City. He's got starting experience and should be able to lead the Bears with no problem. Expect a lot of targets for RB Tarik Cohen.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky likely to miss Week 5    Wed Oct 2, 02:08 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is considered day-to-day because of his shoulder injury, but head coach Matt Nagy said Trubisky likely will not play in the Week 5 game.

Footballguys view: That means Chase Daniel should get the start for the Bears on Sunday. The game is in London against the Raiders, and Daniel should be able to handle things against that defense. With Daniel under center, we wouldn't be surprised to see him pepper RB Tarik Cohen with a lot of targets. Also, the Bears might emphasize the rushing attack with David Montgomery more in Week 5.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky should avoid surgery    Mon Sep 30, 01:19 PM

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is reportedly dealing with a dislocated left shoulder - with a slight labrum tear - but will not require surgery and should be able to return to action 'sooner than later' based on initial MRI results, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Footballguys view: The Bears have some time with Trubisky on the shelf but it may not be as long as originally feared. He will reportedly travel with the team to London in Week 5 but not play versus the Oakland Raiders, and there is optimism he will play following the team's Week 6 bye.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Trubisky is not expected to travel with the team or play versus the Oakland Raiders in London in Week 5. We should know more soon.

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (arm) left the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings due to a left arm injury in the first quarter. He went to the locker room and has been replaced by QB Chase Daniel.

Footballguys view: The pass offense is crisper and more effective with Daniel and the offense might not be hurt all that much by Trubisky's departure. The Raiders are up next week and Trubisky could be looking at an extended absence.

Bears | Anthony Miller could see more reps    Sat Sep 28, 09:26 AM

Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller could see more offensive snaps in Week 4's game against the Minnesota Vikings, as a result of WR Taylor Gabriel (concussion) being ruled out, according to head coach Matt Nagy.

Footballguys view: Miller has talent but this year he's not getting used that much. Over three games, Miller has run 43 routes, been targeted five times and only has two catches for 17 yards. We'll see if the team does use him more with Gabriel banged up. As a rookie in 2018, Miller caught 33 passes for 423 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns.
