Bears | Jordan Howard fully practices    Fri Sep 22, 04:07 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 22, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Footballguys view: This is a good sign for his shoulder, which is important for his bruising running style. He's still a very dicey RB2/Flex against the Steelers this week.

Bears | Kyle Long expected back    Fri Sep 22, 09:44 AM

Chicago Bears OG Kyle Long (ankle) is expected back in Week 3. Head coach John Fox said Long could be on a pitch count.

Footballguys view: Long's return is good news, but the Bears have multiple injured starters on the line, and they are facing a Steelers defense that is tough on the run and relentless at blitzing the quarterback. It could be a long day for the Bears.

Bears | Chicago's Thursday practice report    Thu Sep 21, 05:48 PM

Chicago Bears LB Nick Kwiatkoski (chest) and OT Josh Sitton (ribs) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 21. OT Tom Compton (hip) and DL Akeim Hicks (shoulder) were limited. CB Prince Amukamara (ankle), RB Benny Cunningham (ankle), OG Kyle Long (ankle) and QB Mark Sanchez (neck) participated fully.

Bears | Kendall Wright still limited    Thu Sep 21, 05:44 PM

Chicago Bears WR Kendall Wright (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Footballguys view: Wright has some upside, but the problem is Mike Glennon. We don't trust Glennon to get Wright the ball enough to put him in our lineup.

Bears | Jordan Howard limited Thursday    Thu Sep 21, 05:39 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Footballguys view: Howard is gimpy and Tarik Cohen will get some of the carries in an offense which is a pretty big mess. We wouldn't use them unless we are looking for a desperation play.

Bears | Zach Miller not at practice    Thu Sep 21, 05:35 PM

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (non-injury related) missed practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Footballguys view: Nobody in Chicago is really worth very much on a consistent basis. Miller may see a bump if the Mitch Trubisky gets under center but that isn't happening this weekend. Unless you are desperate, stay away from Miller as more than a 'hope and a prayer' play.

Bears | Markus Wheaton hopeful for Week 3    Wed Sep 20, 07:15 PM

Chicago Bears WR Markus Wheaton (finger) said Wednesday, Sept. 20, that he is hopeful of making his team debut in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: It would be a revenge game for Wheaton against his old team the Steelers. Even if he does play, we're not expecting Wheaton to exact much revenge on Sunday.

Bears | Jordan Howard limited in practice    Wed Sep 20, 06:32 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Footballguys view: Howard's shoulder bothered him in Week 2 against the Bucs, and he only rushed for seven yards on nine carries. While Howard is banged up, it has created more opportunity for rookie RB Tarik Cohen. We'll see if Howard can practice fully later in the week and look more like the running back we expected this week against the Steelers.

Bears | Chicago practice report for Wednesday    Wed Sep 20, 06:23 PM

CB Prince Amukamara (ankle), RB Benny Cunningham (ankle), DE Akiem Hicks (shoulder), RB Jordan Howard (shoulder), OG Kyle Long (ankle) and WR Kendall Wright (shoulder) were limited participants, while S Deon Bush (hamstring) and WR Markus Wheaton (finger) practiced in full.

Bears | Tarik Cohen taking his time    Tue Sep 19, 11:33 PM

Chicago Bears rookie RB Tarik Cohen is averaging 6.6 yards per carry on his 12 rushing attempts through two games but is spending an average of 4.17 seconds per run before crossing the line of scrimmage - nearly a full second more than any other player in league with at least 10 carries this season.

Footballguys view: That's an unusual stat but it shows how Cohen is patient when waiting for his runs to develop. It also shows how many of his carries go outside the tackles (no6 in the NFL with nine carries outside the tackles in 2017). No matter the time, Cohen has shown that he's worth getting the ball to in many different ways. His speed and playmaking ability give him flex appeal every week no matter the matchup.

Bears | Tanner Gentry waived    Tue Sep 19, 03:16 PM

Chicago Bears WR Tanner Gentry was waived Tuesday, Sept. 19, according to a source. The Bears would like Gentry back on the practice squad, however.

Footballguys view: Gentry was on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster after the preseason. They called him up and now are putting him back down. He's a talented player who goes all out to make catches, but we're only monitoring Gentry in the deepest dynasty leagues.

Bears | Kendall Wright catches seven passes    Sun Sep 17, 04:36 PM

Chicago Bears WR Kendall Wright caught seven passes for 69 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Footballguys view: A lot of garbage time accounted for his reasonable PPR stat line. He's still just end of the bench depth in PPR at best.

Bears | Jordan Howard struggles in Week 2    Sun Sep 17, 04:33 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed for seven yards on nine carries against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Footballguys view: Howard is sharing the backfield, his shoulder his hurting, and his team isn't going to give him good game scripts. It's probably the right move to bench him against Pittsburgh next week.

Bears | Tarik Cohen finishes with 68 total yards    Sun Sep 17, 04:29 PM

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen caught eight passes for 55 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. He also rushed for 13 yards on seven carries.

Footballguys view: Cohen also had a costly muffed punt. He did remain heavily involved in the passing game for PPR points and he was more effective than Jordan Howard. He'll be a PPR RB2 and non-PPR flex against the Steelers next week.

Bears | Mike Glennon surpasses 300-yard mark    Sun Sep 17, 04:17 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 31-for-45 for 301 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Footballguys view: Glennon was completely ineffective in the first half and his turnovers along with Tarik Cohen's muffed punt basically gave the Bucs no chance. The Mitchell Trubisky doomsday clock gets closer to midnight with the Steelers up next.

Bears | Nick Kwiatkoski leaves game early    Sun Sep 17, 01:34 PM

Chicago Bears LB Nick Kwiatkoski (pectoral) suffered a pectoral injury in Week 2 and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Kwiatkowski was already in for injured starter Jerrell Freeman. Christian Jones has replaced him. Jones has starting experience and is not a big dropoff.

Bears | Markus Wheaton unlikely to play    Sun Sep 17, 09:19 AM

Chicago Bears WR Markus Wheaton (finger) appears to be a longshot to play in Week 2's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: Look for Tre McBride to get a few snaps in three-wide sets as Deonte Thompson, Josh Bellamy, and Kendall Wright get most of the snaps today.

Bears | Leonard Floyd considered questionable    Sat Sep 16, 09:32 AM

Chicago Bears LB Leonard Floyd (back) is listed as questionable for Week 2's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Footballguys view: Floyd was a late addition to the injury report, and that's something that attracts attention. He says he'll be out there, but keep an eye on this. The Bears have a swarming defense up front and are facing a Bucs team coming off their Week 1 bye. If Floyd isn't quite himself, it could help the numbers for the Bucs offense.

Bears | Jordan Howard likely to play    Fri Sep 15, 09:36 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune, but Campbell said Howard's snap count could be impacted.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to downgrade Howard with this news and a potentially limited snap count. At the same time, this could prove to be a bonus for fantasy owners starting Tarik Cohen. In Week 1, Cohen led the team in targets and flashed as a playmaking weapon for the offense. With Howard banged up, Cohen could be asked to do even more in Week 2.

Bears | Jordan Howard limited Thursday    Thu Sep 14, 02:53 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

Footballguys view: Howard is a bit banged up, and he's playing against a swarming Bucs defense in Week 2. We've still got him as a low-end RB1 for fantasy owners in Week 2.

Bears | Jordan Howard limited Wednesday    Thu Sep 14, 02:34 AM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) was added to injury report for Wednesday, Sept. 13, as having limited participation.

Footballguys view: As Howard was looking like a solid RB2 play this week, the report is a little concerning. However, we will watch his practice time over the next two days before we really worry. Another factor is how well Tarik Cohen played as well. Right now, Howard is the lead back, but if Cohen continues to perform, we could be looking at a committee.

Bears | Kevin White officially on IR    Tue Sep 12, 03:29 PM

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (scapula) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in 2015, White has appeared in only five games during his pro career. Next season will be a make-it-or-break-it year for the young wide receiver. The Bears are thin at wide receiver losing White and Cameron Meredith, and now will turn to guys like Kendall Wright and Deonte Thompson at the position. We should see more targets for RB Tarik Cohen as well.

Bears | Tanner Gentry promoted to active roster    Tue Sep 12, 02:26 PM

Chicago Bears WR Tanner Gentry was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: We're surprised Gentry didn't make the final roster after the preseason. Gentry is a savvy route runner with great body control and he was a standout player for the Bears in the preseason and through training camp. He's buried on the depth chart now that he's on the active roster but we like his value in dynasty leagues.

Bears | Chicago signing Mario Alford    Tue Sep 12, 02:21 PM

Free-agent WR Mario Alford (Browns) will be signed to the Chicago Bears' practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick (2015, Bengals) out of West Virginia, Alford has bounced around the league during his short time in the pros. At 5'8" 180 pounds, Alford is a speedy receiver who can also contribute on special teams. The Bears are thin at wide receiver, but Alford is only on the practice squad at this point.

Bears | Benny Cunningham has ankle sprain    Mon Sep 11, 02:42 PM

Chicago Bears RB Benny Cunningham (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 1. A timetable for his return was not disclosed.

Footballguys view: High ankle sprains are known to linger. Cunningham isn't going to get much work behind Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen for the Bears offense.

Bears | Jerrell Freeman banged up    Mon Sep 11, 02:39 PM

Chicago Bears LB Jerrell Freeman (concussion, pectoral) sustained both a concussion and a pectoral injury in Week 1. It is unclear if these will keep Freeman from playing in Week 2.

Bears | Kevin White will be placed on IR    Mon Sep 11, 02:32 PM

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (scapula) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list after fracturing his scapula in Week 1, according to head coach John Fox. Surgery is a possibility.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in 2015, White has barely played during his pro career with only 5 appearances so far in the NFL. This injury could require surgery and that likely knocks him out for yet another season. The Bears now have Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton and Deonte Thompson as their top three options at the WR position.

Bears | Kevin White likely done for season    Sun Sep 10, 08:28 PM

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (collarbone) is believed to have suffered a broken collarbone in Week 1 against the Falcons and he will need season-ending surgery, sources said Sunday, Sept. 10.

Footballguys view: Kendall Wright could be a full-time player now, but it doesn't seem like the Bears are too eager to throw downfield a lot this year. There probably isn't a choice play to target in White's stead, especially with Tarik Cohen's emergence.

Bears | Kendall Wright so-so in team debut    Sun Sep 10, 06:32 PM

Chicago Bears WR Kendall Wright posted three receptions for 34 yards on four targets in Week 1 against the Falcons.
