Eagles | Offense clicking for Shelton Gibson    Sun Jun 17, 10:27 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Shelton Gibson said he is finally able to 'play fast' this year because he knows where he is supposed to be on each play and can run decisive routes.

Footballguys view: A fifth-round pick out of West Virginia in 2017, Gibson has speed to burn. He can get down the field in the blink of an eye, and the second-year pro could be a 'lid lifter' for the Eagles passing attack (think DeSean Jackson-like). Keep an eye on him in dynasty formats.

Eagles | Dallas Goedert a factor in the red zone?    Sat Jun 16, 09:37 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert could make an instant impact in the red zone this year, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Footballguys view: At 6'4" 256 pounds, Goedert presents a big target for his quarterback. During his college career at South Dakota State, Goedert played in line or split out wide and dominated his level of competition. He'll work behind Zach Ertz in the pecking order at the tight end position, but expect the Eagles to be creative enough to find ways to utilize the rookie.

Eagles | Darren Sproles might return kickoffs    Tue Jun 12, 05:21 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is being considered by the team for kickoff-return duties due to the new kickoff rules, since it's more like a punt return now. They're going to see how he looks in the role later this summer.

Eagles | Greg Ward suffers injury    Fri Jun 8, 04:57 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Greg Ward Jr. (undisclosed) suffered an undisclosed injury during organized team activities Thursday, June 8, but said he will be fine and will participate in the mandatory minicamp.

Eagles | Mike Wallace transitioning nicely    Fri Jun 8, 01:34 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Mike Wallace 'looks the part' as he attempts to secure a starting receiver job this summer, according to Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice.

Footballguys view: Wallace is a veteran receiver who has a game built on speed. He's there to be a 'lid lifter' for the Eagles offense. Wallace will compete in the pecking order at wide receiver behind Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor.

Eagles | Carson Wentz cleared for 7-on-7 work    Wed Jun 6, 12:50 PM

Updating previousr reports, Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) has been cleared for seven-on-seven work, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Wentz remains ahead of schedule in recovery from the knee injury that ended his 2017 season, but his status for the beginning of the regular season is still up in the air. He should be on track to start in Week 1 but he'll have to suffer no setbacks over the next couple of months and continue to progress.

Eagles | Carson Wentz should be ready     Tue Jun 5, 03:02 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) is expected to be healthy enough to play by Week 1, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Footballguys view: Wentz has been on track and even ahead of schedule during his recovery from the knee injury that ended his 2017 season. It's great news, but we still want to see him progress through training camp and the preseason.

Eagles | Nathan Gerry may start in 2018    Sat Jun 2, 04:06 PM

Philadelphia Eagles LB Nathan Gerry has a chance to win one of starting linebacker jobs during training camp.

Footballguys view: A fifth-round pick out of Nebraska in 2017, Gerry began his rookie season on the team's practice squad. Converted from safety, he was promoted to the active squad last October and made a few plays. This year, Gerry is trying for a larger role. As he continues to develop at his new position, Gerry should put up a good fight.

Eagles | Ronald Darby could be on block    Sat Jun 2, 04:05 PM

Philadelphia Eagles CB Ronald Darby could be placed on the trade block if CB De'Vante Bausby has a strong training camp and shows that he can be a starting option.

Footballguys view: This potential move was predicted by those covering the team. Darby, acquired in the Jordan Matthews trade last year with the Bills, is not signed past 2018. An ankle injury limited him to eight games last year, but Darby is a quality starter when healthy. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is not shy when it comes to trading, so moving Darby could be in the cards for the team.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi prepping for big role    Thu May 31, 09:26 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi said he wants to be a 'workhorse' for the offense this year and show what he is capable of doing in a big role.

Footballguys view: With LeGarrette Blount (Lions) gone, Ajayi could be in for a larger role as a runner. However, with a healthy Darren Sproles the Eagles might use him as the primary 'fast break' back. Ajayi has a current ADP of RB21 (4.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Carson Wentz looking comfortable    Tue May 29, 08:08 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) jogged without a hitch and appeared have more velocity on his throws than last year during practice Tuesday, May 29, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.

Footballguys view: Wentz is ahead of schedule in his recovery by all accounts. However, that still doesn't guarantee that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. As we get closer to training camp and the preseason, we should have a better feel about Wentz's early-season availability.

Eagles | Dallas Goedert may be No. 2 TE    Mon May 28, 12:23 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has a solid chance to be the primary backup at tight end this season because he is a better blocker than TE Richard Rodgers.

Footballguys view: Goedert is an exciting rookie prospect at the tight end position, but we'd be more excited about his immediate fantasy impact if he was with a different team. Yes, Trey Burton moved on in free agency to the Bears and Brent Celek is currently looking for work but the Eagles tight end position is all about Zach Ertz. He's been a top-10 fantasy TE each of the last two years, and Ertz should continue to produce at a TE1 level in 2018. Goedert should get some looks here and there but won't do much unless Ertz misses time. We love Goedert in dynasty formats.

Eagles | Markus Wheaton has chance to make team    Mon May 28, 12:22 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Markus Wheaton appears to be the leading candidate for the No. 5 receiver job for the Eagles because of his NFL experience and ability to make plays. He will compete with WRs Greg Ward Jr. and Shelton Gibson for the job.

Footballguys view: With seven catches over the last two seasons, we're not counting on Wheaton to do a lot...no matter if he stays with the Eagles or has to find another team. The Eagles are jam-packed at the position and Wheaton has turned in a disappointing pro career since the Steelers made him a third-round pick out of Oregon State in 2013.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery remains idle    Mon May 28, 10:53 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) remains out of practice in organized team activities.

Footballguys view: Jeffery was ruled out of OTAs quite some time ago. This isn't new news, but it still highlights the fact that the Eagles are going to go through most of the offseason with Jeffery banged up. He might be ready at some point in the preseason, but the 'hope' is that Jeffery will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Eagles | Mack Hollins aiming for more    Sun May 27, 10:50 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Mack Hollins believes wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer could help him take his performance to another level this season.

Footballguys view: Hollins, an exciting fourth-round pick from North Carolina in 2017, ran 159 routes, was targeted 22 times, caught 16 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown in 16 games for the Eagles last year. He could do more this year, but right now he's likely fourth on the depth chart behind Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and Mike Wallace. We'll see if the team mixes him in more this season, and we'll continue to monitor Hollins in dynasty leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles absent from OTAs    Sun May 27, 04:04 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles was one of two absences - along with DL Michael Bennett - from OTAs last week, according to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com.

Footballguys view: Sproles is coming off a torn ACL that limited him to three games in 2017. He's chosen not to be at voluntary OTAs and is instead working out at home in California. Once again a top change-of-pace option for the Eagles, there is a lot of speculation that he could have a large role on offense. He's got plenty of RB3 value or flex appeal in PPR leagues if healthy.

Eagles | Derek Barnett a full participant at OTAs    Sun May 27, 03:55 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Derek Barnett (hernia) was not limited in OTAs last week, according to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com.

Footballguys view: As a rookie in 2017, Barnett played 424 snaps for the Eagles and snared 5.0 sacks. He had hernia surgery shortly after the Super Bowl and is already back to full participation.

Eagles | Corey Clement hopes for bigger role    Fri May 25, 06:40 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Corey Clement said he hopes to be more involved in the offense this upcoming season. 'I definitely want to get more touches, more carries, more catches out of the backfield this year. I want to be more of a key contributor. I don't think that's being greedy. I have a job to do and that's to put this team in the best position possible [to win],' Clement said.

Footballguys view: Clement should compete with Darren Sproles for the receiving back/change-of-pace role in Philadelphia. Jay Ajayi should be the lead ball-carrier for the Eagles in 2018.

Eagles | Mychal Kendricks released    Tue May 22, 03:46 PM

Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks was released Tuesday, May 22, according to a source.

Footballguys view: He should be designated as a post-June 1 release, leaving $1.5 million in dead money while freeing up about $6 million in cap space. Kendricks is recovering from "clean-up" ankle surgery he had back in March, but the two-down run-stuffer shouldn't be on the open market for long.

Eagles | Carson Wentz takes part in individual drills    Tue May 22, 12:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) saw some action during individual drills at OTAs on Tuesday, May 22.

Footballguys view: Wentz has been ahead in his recovery from the knee injury that cut his 2017 season short. He underwent surgery in mid-December last year, and even with him being ahead of schedule, Wentz's status for Week 1 of the regular season is unknown. Barring any setbacks, we could see him under center for the Eagles when Week 1 rolls around.

Eagles | Two Eagles absent    Tue May 22, 10:35 AM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Michael Bennett and RB Darren Sproles are absent from organized team activities Tuesday, May 22.

Footballguys view: Sproles is recovering from a torn ACL, and when healthy he could be in for a larger-than-expected role with the team. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson didn't seem too concerned about this duo missing voluntary work. "I don't have a lot of concern as far as their ability to help us win games because they're veteran players and they know how to get themselves ready to go." Pederson said.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi played limited role in postseason    Sun May 20, 03:50 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi played fewer than half the team's snaps in the playoffs, according to NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.

Footballguys view: Without LeGarrette Blount, the Eagles are looking for more opportunities in the backfield. That means Ajayi is up next, but the Eagles have a cramped backfield. We'll likely see him as the main ball-carrier, but we could see someone like Darren Sproles as their primary receiving back.

Eagles | Donnel Pumphrey faces uphill climb    Sat May 19, 10:23 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey (hamstring) missed the 2017 season with a torn hamstring and will be fighting for a roster spot this summer. NJ.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks believes it is silly to write off Pumphrey after just 26 preseason carries, because the 2017 rookie looked dynamic at times in practice and bulked up, per reports. Even still, Pumphrey faces an uphill battle to make the final roster.

Footballguys view: The FBS all-time leading rusher is only 179 pounds. Even if he's gained weight, Pumphrey simply lacks the body armor to hold up to the NFL beating. That being said, if he works as a part-time player then there's enough ability to be worth consideration. The Eagles are stacked at the running back position and that certainly hurts Pumphrey's chances of making the team. He can play slot receiver, so perhaps that extra bit of versatility will keep the 2017 fourth-round pick on the roster.

Eagles | Darren Sproles to have a large role?    Sat May 19, 10:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (knee) will have a big role in the offense, despite being 34 years old and coming off of a torn anterior cruciate ligament, in the opinion of Eliot Shorr-Parks, of NJ.com. Sproles was not signed to be a feel-good story, according to Shorr-Parks, and it would not be a surprising to see the veteran near or even atop the depth chart.

Footballguys view: Keep this in mind late in your fantasy drafts. Sproles is quite capable as a receiver and could get 50-plus catches if healthy and things line up for him to have this large role in 2018. Jay Ajayi should be the team's leading ball-carrier, but Sproles can be featured as a runner in space and receiver out of the backfield.

Eagles | No timetable for Jordan Hicks    Thu May 17, 05:01 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles LB Jordan Hicks (Achilles') does not have a timetable for his return even though he said he is ahead of schedule.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Texas in 2015, Hicks has only played a full 16-game season once in his career. Last season, the Achilles' injury limited him to just seven games. Things seem to be on track in his recovery, and having Hicks out there would be a boost for the Eagles defense.

Eagles | Cedric Thornton visited Eagles    Wed May 16, 02:09 PM

Free-agent DT Cedric Thornton (Bills) recently worked out for the Philadephia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Thornton spent four seasons with the Eagles (2012-2015) but that was with a different coaching regime. Over the last two years he's bounced from Dallas to Buffalo and now is once again looking for a new home.

Eagles | Brandon Graham had surgery    Tue May 15, 07:59 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Brandon Graham (ankle) recently underwent surgery on his injured right ankle and could miss all organized team activities.

Footballguys view: It's a clean up procedure and doesn't seem too serious. The procedure was performed to help promote healing on high-ankle sprains like the one Graham suffered in Week 16 last year. He is currently wearing a protective boot.

Eagles | Philly encouraged by Carson Wentz's progress    Fri May 11, 02:51 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) has yet to be medically cleared, but the team is 'highly encouraged' by the progress he has made in his rehab from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. Nevertheless, head coach Doug Pederson made it clear he has no intention to rush Wentz back, telling reporters his quarterback will be 'ready when he's ready, and when we feel he's ready.'

Footballguys view: Great news for the Eagles here, and it falls in line with the reports that have been coming out this entire time. Wentz is doing well in his recovery and might even be ahead by some standards. That's great, but it's still too early to tell if he's going to get much (if any) work in the preseason and training camp. Even Wentz's status for Week 1 of the regular season is in doubt. We'll all be staying tuned in here.
