Eagles | Rueben Randle out a couple weeks    Wed May 25, 03:48 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Rueben Randle (gallbladder) is fine, according to a source, but he is extremely sore and will be out two to three weeks while he recovers from having his gallbladder removed, according to a source.

Footballguys view: That sets his chances to have an impact on the team back quite a bit, as he needs to get more familiar with the offense. He's mired behind Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews, so we're not too excited for his prospects.

Eagles | No QB order set in Philly    Wed May 25, 02:33 PM

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said that the order set with QB Sam Bradford as the No. 1, QB Chase Daniel as the backup and QB Carson Wentz as the third guy is 'probably not the right impression.' 'But the other thing that -- as coaches -- that you've got to establish is a culture of competition. This is one of the most competitive industries in the world and so, to say that there's not competition, that's just the furthest thing from the truth.'

Footballguys view: Reich needs to be cautious with what he says so Bradford doesn't get upset. Of course no order has been set. Bradford SHOULD be the starter for Week 1 as the team has indicated they'd like Wentz to sit and devlop. However, if Wentz shows that he's better in camp then we could see their future franchise QB take over early this year...perhaps even Week 1.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews sitting out    Tue May 24, 10:47 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (illness) is out of practice Tuesday, May 24, due to illness.

Footballguys view: Mathews should be back soon for the Eagles. Injuries are a concern with the talented veteran, but missing practice on Tuesday is not a big deal. If healthy, Mathews can perform like a low-end RB2. His current ADP is RB26 (6.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Rueben Randle has surgery    Tue May 24, 10:47 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Rueben Randle (gallbladder) is out of practice Tuesday, May 24, due to a recent gallbladder surgery.

Footballguys view: That's not going to help his chances to make the 53-man roster. He never played up to his potential and was wildly inconsistent during his time with the Giants. Randle needs to get healthy and prove that he belongs on the Eagles, but even if he does make the team we're not expecting him to make any sort of fantasy impact.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not worried about QB situation    Thu May 19, 10:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz said he isn't going to run his routes any differently for QB Sam Bradford than he would for QB Carson Wentz.

Footballguys view: Ertz topped 800 yards last season and could approach 1,00 this year. Hopefully he'll see more red zone work though, as he has to improve on his two touchdowns to be a real fantasy factor.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has rapport with Bradford    Thu May 19, 12:58 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews flew to Oklahoma in March to work with QB Sam Bradford, and Matthews is OK with Bradford's trade request earlier in the offseason. 'If I'm cool with it, then everybody should be cool with it,' Matthews said. 'Look, if I want to be here, and I'm happy with it, and we can go out there and just compete, that's all I want to focus on. That's all that matters.'

Footballguys view: Matthews led the team in targets (128), yards (997) and touchdowns (8) with Bradford under center, so we're sure he's happy to have him back. We think he could be a solid WR2 this year.

Eagles | Sam Bradford works with first-team    Wed May 18, 12:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Tuesday, May 17, with QB Chase Daniel taking repetitions with the second-team and QB Carson Wentz with the third-team. 'I've actually talked to Sam since he's back,' head coach Doug Pederson said, 'and I told him: My feelings haven't changed. He's my guy. He's the No. 1 guy. I want him to embrace that and not look backward. Look forward.'

Footballguys view: Bradford has to prove to his teammates and the fans that he's willing to work for the job, especially after his hissy fit post-draft. Wentz is raw, but the future, so Bradford is also auditioning for his next potential starting gig.

Eagles | Darren Sproles expected back    Tue May 17, 02:07 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has been in contact with head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson fully expects Sproles to return for mandatory camps in June. Sproles has not been participating in organized team activities.

Footballguys view: There was some discussion about Sproles getting traded during the draft, but that talk has died down. The Eagles have the oft-injured Ryan Mathews as their lead back, and Sproles can continue to make plays as a change-of-pace back and return man.

Eagles | M.J. McFarland joins Eagles    Tue May 17, 10:22 AM

Undrafted free-agent TE M.J. McFarland (UTEP) signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, May 17. QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson was released.

Footballguys view: McFarland measures in at 6'5" 253 pounds. He began his career at Texas, and he played three seasons for the Longhorns compiling 19 receptions for 178 yards and three touchdowns. McFarland then transferred to UTEP, but he never played for the Miners after testing positive for a banned substance.

Eagles | Carson Wentz does not expect tension    Fri May 13, 04:39 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz said he expects to have a good relationship with QB Sam Bradford and does not expect any tension in the quarterback room. 'I think the relationship with him, and I believe with the other quarterbacks, will be great,' Wentz said. 'It will be a really competitive atmosphere. Hopefully, we'll learn together, grow together and really push each other.' Wentz said he does not care what his role is as long as the team is winning.

Footballguys view: Wentz has the upside to be a top-12 QB in the NFL. He'll deal with this Bradford "friction" the right way. While Bradford once demanded a trade (after Wentz was selected), it seems like the veteran has finally realized that he's Sam Bradford and shouldn't be demanding anything.

Eagles | Carson Wentz terms    Thu May 12, 02:20 PM

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz's four-year deal is worth $26 million with a $17.6 million signing bonus.

Footballguys view: It's in stark contrast to the money fellow Eagles signal caller Sam Bradford got when he was selected first overall in 2010 which was the largest ever by a rookie. With the money much more reasonable (Bradford's was a six-year, $78 million deal, which has $50 million of guarantee), the team can be cautious and take their time with Wentz. However, we know Bradford's injury history and his overall attitude after the draft, so it's not inconceivable that Wentz could take over this season. That makes this a shaky situation for fantasy and we'd tend to stay away from it.

Eagles | Carson Wentz signs rookie pact    Thu May 12, 01:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz is signing his rookie contract Thursday, May 12, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Wentz will probably sit behind Sam Bradford, who is finally working with the team. Bradford will hold the job but injury and shakiness make him a questionable choice for fantasy as we could see Wentz by year's end.

Eagles | Three players signed    Mon May 9, 07:14 PM

Undrafted free-agent RB Cedric O'Neal (Valdosta State), WR Hunter Sharp (Utah State) and WR Paul Turner (Louisiana Tech) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, May 9. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Eagles | Sam Bradford reporting Monday    Mon May 9, 08:42 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford informed team personnel he'll report to offseason workouts Monday, May 9.

Footballguys view: So much for demanding a trade. Apparently, Sam Bradford realized he was in fact Sam Bradford over the last week or so. It sounds like the team is ready to hand him the job and give first-round pick Carson Wentz a year to develop.

Eagles | Sam Bradford may report soon    Fri May 6, 07:55 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford may report for offseason workouts in the next week or two, according to LB Connor Barwin, who has recently talked with Bradford.

Footballguys view: Bradford's attitude is only underscoring his lame duck status as the Eagles starting quarterback. He's not worth a pick in typical redraft leagues.

Eagles | Two Eagles picks sign    Fri May 6, 09:41 AM

Philadelphia Eagles OG Isaac Seumalo and OT Halapoulivaati Vaitai signed their rookie contracts Friday, May 6.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor ready to prove himself    Thu May 5, 10:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor said he knows he has something to prove after a disappointing rookie season, and WR Jordan Matthews said Agholor's ankle injury robbed him of his explosiveness and contributed to his struggles.

Footballguys view: Agholor is certainly better than he showed last year. We're excited to see him healthy and play more like the star he was at USC.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor needs to step up    Thu May 5, 01:50 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor was one of the least productive wideouts in the league in 2016. No receiver with as many routes run averaged fewer yards, and only eight receivers with as many targets had a worse defense-adjusted yards above replacement ranking.

Footballguys view: Reports have surfaced that indicate Agholor was banged up last year and played through a high-ankle sprain. That would certainly explain his lack of production. Agholor is a better WR than he showed last year, so we'll see if he can get back on track in 2016.

Eagles | Sam Bradford not talking with coach    Sun May 1, 05:05 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford has not talked with head coach Doug Pederson since asking for a trade, according to Pederson.

Footballguys view: He's got to stop this ridiculous notion of asking for a trade--especially continuing this after the draft when any QB-needy team (Broncos, Jets) added a rookie passer. Bradford has been handed his spot in the NFL after being the no.1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Now, he's going to have to compete for a job and get pushed by a rookie who didn't even play Division 1 football. We love Carson Wentz, but sitting him for a year may be the team's best idea...provided that Bradford is the starter.

Philadelphia Eagles C Isaac Seumalo, the team's third round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, training in Southern California before the draft with his new teammate, QB Carson Wentz.

Footballguys view: Which is something that definitely made him attractive, though if he'll see much time behind Jason Kelce remains to be seen.

Eagles | Caron Wentz draws Brett Favre comparison    Thu Apr 28, 10:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz has a lot of the same characteristics, including the aggressive style, of retired QB Brett Favre, head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday, April 28.

Footballguys view: Well, we won't get carried away with the comparisons right now. We will say that he has fallen into a great situation even if he needs to start right away, as Wentz will be behind a great offensive line with a coach who can work him into the right system.

Eagles | Carson Wentz to Eagles at No. 2    Thu Apr 28, 08:17 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles selected North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28.

Footballguys view: As expected, and as Footballguy Andrew Garda wrote after the pick, Wentz has a more reliable coach and a better offensive line to work with. If they can have him sit behind Sam Bradford for a year, it would only be better for him as he is raw.

Eagles | Sam Bradford not shy of competition    Wed Apr 27, 12:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford's agent, Tom Condon, said Bradford isn't afraid of competition. He wants out because the Eagles' quarterback situation has a pre-determined outcome where the No. 2 pick starts when ready.

Footballguys view: The Broncos could play this situation to their advantage by convincing the 49ers that they are willing to trade for Bradford as an alternative to acquiring Colin Kaepernick. Stay tuned.

Eagles | Sam Bradford still Philly's starter    Mon Apr 25, 05:41 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is still the Eagles' starting quarterback and the Eagles still support him, general manager Howie Roseman reiterated Monday, April 25.

Footballguys view: Let's make sure that Bradford's feelings don't get hurt. He's only (sarcasm, of course) getting $22 million guaranteed from the Eagles. Getting overpaid and then having to compete for the starting job is difficult (more sarcasm). Bradford is reportedly asking for a trade since the Eagles moved up to the 2nd-overall pick...likely for QB Carson Wentz.

Eagles | Sam Bradford facing fine    Mon Apr 25, 02:29 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford will be fined if he does not show up for minicamp. If he misses all of training camp, he'll surrender 25% of his signing bonus, and more if his absence extends into the regular season.

Footballguys view: Bradford has a huge contract since the Eagles overpaid to keep him for some reason earlier this offseason. He should not run from competition, especially when it seems the team is willing to let him begin the season as the starter.

Eagles | Sam Bradford request trade    Mon Apr 25, 11:19 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford has informed the team Monday, April 25, he's seeking a trade and will not show up to their offseason program any longer, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Bradford was overpaid with a contract from the Eagles earlier this year that has $22 million in guaranteed money. We can't imagine any team wanting to take on such a ludicrous deal. His annual average salary is around $18 million, certainly a premium price for a QB incapable of staying healthy for long or being anything more than an average starter.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is upset about the team's trade for the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he is prepared to stay and prove he is a franchise-caliber quarterback, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Bradford shouldn't demand a trade....he was overpaid by the Eagles earlier this year. He shouldn't run from competition--from a rookie--and instead he should stay and prove that he's the better option (for now).

Eagles | Darren Sproles to be traded?    Sun Apr 24, 01:50 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could be traded this offseason, in the opinion of NJ.com's Elliot Shorr-Parks. Shorr-Parks views Sproles as a logical and likely trade candidate, with Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner as the two running backs who will make the final roster.

Footballguys view: You just never know with the Eagles. Sproles can still make plays as a change-of-pace back, and the Eagles may be selecting another RB at some point in the 2016 NFL draft.

Eagles | Sam Bradford likely wants trade    Thu Apr 21, 04:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is expected to ask to be traded, according to a source, despite executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman stating that Bradford is still the starter. It was previously reported that Bradford is upset with the Eagles' trading up in the NFL Draft for what will likely be a quarterback.

Footballguys view: And I want a pony. We may both come away disappointed, as the Eagles may not want to move him, since they have no guarantee that the rookie they choose will be ready to go. Could he force one? Perhaps, because he wants to make sure he gets a chance to show teams he can still play. If they give the job at some point to the rookie, that won't happen. Keep an eye on this, because some teams (COUGH THE JETS COUGH) still have no quarterback and could make a trade on draft day.

Eagles | Sam Bradford upset about trade    Wed Apr 20, 07:19 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford was not happy after the Eagles traded up for the No. 2 overall pick, with which they are expected to draft a quarterback. Bradford is mad and wants to show everyone who is best, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Although, executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman said Bradford is still the starter.

Footballguys view: We'll see where this goes, but there's a part of us who cannot help but wonder why Bradford is shocked since his deal itself showed that the team wasn't sold. However, if it fires him up and he produces more consistently and stays healthy and plays better, then it's a positive. We think Bradford is the guy this season unless the Eagles fall out of contention and could be a decent bye week player for fantasy teams.

Eagles | Philly to pay high price for quarterbacks    Wed Apr 20, 03:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and likely one of North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz or California QB Jared Goff will cost the Eagles more than $42 million. Bradford is due $18 million, Daniel is due $7 million and Wentz or Goff will be due at least $16 million, including a signing bonus.

Footballguys view: With as much money as they will be paying out, the front office had better be right about their selections. We think Bradford gets the start only to be supplanted by the rookie somewhere near the end of the season. That said, given how many picks the team gave up, if the new quarterback isn't the answer, they could be set back for a long time.

Eagles | Sam Bradford remains the starter    Wed Apr 20, 02:38 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford will remain the starter after the team acquired the No. 2 overall draft pick Wednesday, April 20, according to Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.

Footballguys view: He will right up until his replacement looks competent or the Eagles are eliminated from the playoffs. We want to see more of this situation in camp before we get behind Bradford, who could also get yanked if he struggles as he has in the past.

Eagles | Philly OK with Jared Goff or Carson Wentz    Wed Apr 20, 02:36 PM

California QB Jared Goff or North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz falling to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 2 overall is fine with the team as they're looking to 'invest in quarterbacks,' according to Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.

Footballguys view: They are tight with Rams ownership so, if the Rams know (and we believe they do) then the Eagles know who they are getting. As GM Howie Roseman has said that they know who they are getting and referred to a rookie quarterback, we're guessing they moved up knowing what was happening. We think Wentz would be a good fit for this offense and he could sit behind Sam Bradford for a year while he developed.

Eagles | Sam Bradford staying put    Wed Apr 20, 02:17 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford isn't on the trade block after the team acquired the second overall draft pick Wednesday, April 20, in the opinion of NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: Bradford could still get traded, but it makes a lot of sense that the Eagles would keep him around and give their new starter time to adjust to the pro game. It's likely Bradford could move on once the team feels the new quarterback has a handle on things. We don't love Bradford - he keeps burning owners - and the situation is a bit too fluid to depend on him. We'll wait and see what next week brings.

Eagles | Philly could slide into the No. 2 pick    Tue Apr 19, 11:17 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles might be able to make a deal with the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, as they like North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz. According to a source, such a deal would mean the Eagles send the Browns first- and third-round compensation in 2016 and 2017.

Footballguys view: We actually don't expect a move on this until the Rams officially name their pick (either at the draft or just prior to it). That could make Thursday night fascinating for fans of the Jets, Eagles, Niners and potentially a few other teams. If the Rams end up going for Wentz, that could change things for suitors of the Browns pick. If they go for California-boy Goff though, expect things to get a little frantic on the Cleveland Browns' phones.

Eagles | Philly eyeing the No. 2 pick?    Tue Apr 19, 04:45 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles are a potential buyer for the Cleveland Browns' No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Nothing is imminent, though, and both sides will be patient about the situation, according to NFL Network's Jeff Darlington. Head coach Doug Pederson has shown interest in both North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz and California QB Jared Goff.

Footballguys view: Way to go Philadelphia. They turned the quarterback market upside down with the large contract they gave to Sam Bradford earlier this year. Now, they could shake things up again and move up from no.8 to no.2 overall. Either rookie QB would be better than Bradford, but it's a head-scratching decision given the $17.5 million annual salary they handed out to Bradford.

Eagles | Philly HC high on Carson Wentz    Mon Apr 18, 10:31 PM

North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz appears to be the highest quarterback on the draft board of the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Doug Pederson indicated Monday, April 18, that he feels Wentz is the real deal.

Footballguys view: Wentz has the movement skills to keep plays alive with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield. He can make all the throws required in the NFL, and Wentz is not afraid to challenge a defense downfield.
