Eagles | Carson Wentz plans to play in opener    Wed Apr 18, 07:43 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) said he does not have a definite timetable for his return but does intend to play Week 1.

Footballguys view: That's the plan and Wentz seems to be ahead of schedule in his recovery. So long as there are no setbacks, we should see Wentz under center for the Eagles in Week 1. It's too far away to feel real comfortable, so we'll continue to monitor him closely and put a pin in this article/mindset until the season gets closer.

Eagles | Jordan Hicks recovering well    Tue Apr 17, 05:05 PM

Philadelphia Eagles LB Jordan Hicks (Achilles') is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn Achilles' tendon.

Footballguys view: Hicks said doctors are pleased with where he is at in his recovery and that he is determined to stay healthy and play well this season.

Eagles | Carson Wentz running again    Tue Apr 17, 03:41 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) said he has started running in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn lateral collateral ligament.

Footballguys view: Wentz seems to be far ahead in his recovery. The quarterback added that he feels good and is happy where he's at in his progress. Even with this good news, his status for the start of the regular season is up in the air. If there are no setbacks, he should be good enough to play in Week 1.

He was arrested at 6 a.m. Sunday after becoming combative with police and was eventually tased.

Eagles | Mychal Kendricks could still be available    Sat Apr 14, 04:03 PM

Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks could still be a trade candidate this offseason if the team receives the right trade offer, in the opinion of NJ.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Footballguys view: Here we go again. Being involved in trade rumors is nothing new for the veteran linebacker. Kendricks is recovering from "clean-up" ankle surgery last we heard, and he's a quality two-down player when healthy. We'll see if something comes to fruition on draft day.

Eagles | Chris Maragos may be on bubble    Sat Apr 14, 03:58 PM

Philadelphia Eagles FS Chris Maragos likely will need a strong training camp if he wants to make the final roster, in the opinion of NJ.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Eagles | Philly linked to Courtland Sutton    Fri Apr 13, 11:52 PM

Southern Methodist WR Courtland Sutton said the Philadelphia Eagles have reached out to him more than any other team, and he believes the Eagles like him a lot.

Footballguys view: Sutton is a big-bodied receiver who can win catches in the red zone due to his size, strength and wingspan. He's currently seen as a late first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The Eagles, as Super Bowl champions, have the final pick in the opening round. Sutton may be their guy if he's still on the board at that time.

Eagles | Mike Wallace near incentive date    Fri Apr 13, 09:49 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Mike Wallace will earn a $585,000 incentive Monday, April 16, if he weighs less than 250 pounds.

Footballguys view: That's an interesting incentive...especially since Wallace lists around 200 pounds. It's not like he's Eddie Lacy, as Wallace is rather skinny. Oh well, it's an easy payday for the veteran receiver.

Eagles | Richard Rodgers financials    Wed Apr 11, 02:44 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Richard Rodgers signed a one-year contract worth $880,000 with a $45,000 signing bonus and $200,000 of his $790,000 base salary guaranteed.

Eagles | Courtland Sutton visiting Eagles    Tue Apr 10, 08:53 AM

Southern Methodist WR Courtland Sutton is visiting the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, April 10, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Sutton is a big-bodied possession receiver who can make plays 'above the rim' and dominate in the red zone. He's not going to get open with savvy as Sutton still needs to develop as a route runner. However, he has the strength and wingspan to become a favorite target of his quarterback. The Eagles have speedy guys like Mike Wallace behind Alshon Jeffery, but perhaps they'll opt for more size and nab Sutton in the late first.

Eagles | Coach wants Carson Wentz to play smart    Sat Apr 7, 09:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) needs to think about his longevity, according to head coach Doug Pederson, and Pederson said he is going to talk with Wentz about ways he can help ensure that he has a long career.

Footballguys view: Wentz is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league today. His season was cut short last year due to a knee injury and he was merely an observant as his team went on to win Super Bowl 52. Wentz needs to use his legs as they are a weapon in his arsenal, but he also needs to know when to slide and protect his body better so he doesn't miss more time. Reports indicate he's on track for the start of the regular season.

Eagles | Philly to meet with Derrius Guice    Sat Apr 7, 04:09 PM

Louisiana State RB Derrius Guice is scheduled to have a pre-draft visit with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Guice is one of the best backs in this class. He's got plenty of power to bull over defenders and Guice is the type of back who gets stronger as the game goes on. Guice should be an early second-round pick but he could sneak into the late first round. Even with Jay Ajayi already on the roster as the team's big back, the Eagles should have interest in a player like Guice to add more power to the backfield.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery eyeing preseason    Fri Apr 6, 09:23 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery's (shoulder) right arm remains in a sling and is not expected to participate in OTAs, but he is hoping to be ready for the preseason.

Footballguys view: No hurries, no worries for Jeffery and the Eagles here. He could be eased back into action near the beginning of training camp.

Eagles | Philly adding Richard Rodgers    Wed Apr 4, 05:07 PM

Free-agent TE Richard Rodgers (Packers) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, April 4, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Rodgers helps stop the bleeding at tight end after the team released Brent Celek and lost Trey Burton in free agency. He's a function adequate player but doesn't add much value on his snaps.

Eagles | Paul Worrilow headed to Eagles    Tue Apr 3, 11:19 AM

Free-agent LB Paul Worrilow (Lions) will sign with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, April 3. Terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: This could add to the idea that Mychal Kendricks will get traded before the draft. He's talented but doesn't seem to be a great fit in Jim Schwartz defense.

Eagles | Nick Foles staying in Philadelphia     Tue Mar 27, 02:46 PM

Eagles | Carson Wentz to sit out offseason drills    Tue Mar 27, 01:11 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) will not participate in the offseason program, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. The Eagles don't have to rush Wentz back as they still have Nick Foles on the roster as his primary backup. Wentz seems to be ahead of schedule, but there's no need to risk aggravating the injury.

Eagles | Big year coming for Derek Barnett?    Sun Mar 25, 10:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Derek Barnett had 5 1/2 sacks from Week 6 on, and Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia believes Barnett could reach 12 sacks in 2018.

Footballguys view: Barnett has incredible upside, and we only saw glimpses of what he could be during his rookie season in 2017. He played 424 snaps last year and could be in line for a larger role in 2018.

Eagles | Bigger role for Billy Brown in 2018?    Sun Mar 25, 10:46 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Billy Brown is a candidate to take on a larger role in the offense in the wake of Trey Burton's departure to the Chicago Bears, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Footballguys view: Brown is a deep sleeper to keep an eye on (or add) in dynasty leagues. He was incredibly productive in Division II at Shepherd University compiling the most receptions (249), receiving yards (4,071) and receiving TDs (43) in school history. He spent all of his rookie season on the Eagles practice squad after getting picked up as a college free agent after the 2017 NFL draft.

Eagles | Michael Bennett indicted    Sun Mar 25, 10:37 AM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Michael Bennett was indicted by a grand jury Friday, March 23, for injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic security staffer at Super Bowl LI in Houston, according to a press release from the Harris County district attorney's office. The release claims that Bennett has been charged with injury to the elderly, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Defense attorney Rusty Hardin said his client plans to surrender Monday, March 26.

Footballguys view: There's a lot to unpack from a case which is being prosecuted over a year after the alleged incident, but let's stick to football. Bennett was a tremendous addition to this defense, so this is at least somewhat concerning. There's no timetable for prosecution, and as this has already taken well over a year, it may not be processed until after the season. Philadelphia weathered all the distractions thrown their way last season. We think they'll be fine here as well, but will wait and see how this plays out as they hit camp.

Eagles | No strong offers for Nick Foles    Sat Mar 24, 09:49 PM

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said there has not been an offer made that would even tempt the team into trading QB Nick Foles.

Footballguys view: Last season was the perfect storm for Foles. Unless Frank Reich, Doug Pederson and the Eagles offensive scheme was coming with him, nobody was paying a premium for a guy with more bad tape than not. He's in a great situation with Philadelphia, and probably the exact one he needs to be in.

Eagles | More on Mike Wallace's deal    Thu Mar 22, 06:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles WR Mike Wallace's one-year contract is worth $2.5 million, according to a source. Wallace could make more with incentives.

Footballguys view: It's not a huge contract so they aren't risking much. Wallace is a decent vertical threat, but he's faded the last few years. Still, he might have some value if Carson Wentz is back and healthy.

Eagles | Mike Wallace joining Eagles    Thu Mar 22, 06:23 PM

Free-agent WR Mike Wallace (Ravens) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, March 22, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: A move to replace Torrey Smith, Wallace is a solid vertical threat at times, and could see some action in this offense if Carson Wentz is back and healthy.

Eagles | Carson Wentz throwing at team facility    Tue Mar 20, 12:58 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) posted video of himself throwing inside the team's practice facility Monday, March 19, as he 'appears to be making some significant strides' in his rehab from a torn ACL and LCL.

Footballguys view: It's incredible to see Wentz doing this so soon after surgery. His status for Week 1 is up in the air at this time, and he could be somewhat limited during training camp. If he continues to stay ahead of schedule in his recovery, Went should be ready to start in the season opener.

Eagles | Nick Foles receives $3 million bonus    Sun Mar 18, 06:57 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is due a $3 million roster bonus on Sunday, March 18.

Footballguys view: The Eagles may not trade away Foles for a few reasons. First, he's playing at a cheap rate compared to other backup QBs...especially after winning Super Bowl 52 MVP. Second, the Eagles are best off keeping him if Carson Wentz gets slowed in his recovery from knee surgery. He's on track to play for Week 1, but keeping Foles gives them great insurance in case Wentz needs a bit more time.

Eagles | Daryl Worley trade to Philly official    Wed Mar 14, 06:05 PM

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers CB Daryl Worley was officially acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, March 14, in exchange for WR Torrey Smith.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of West Virginia in 2016, Worley has flashed a bit during his time with the Panthers. The Eagles get much-needed depth behind starters Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills with this move.

Eagles | Philly officially adds Michael Bennett    Wed Mar 14, 05:48 PM

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks DE Michael Bennett was officially acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, March 14. The Eagles also acquired a 2018 seventh-round draft choice in the trade, while the Seahawks received WR Marcus Johnson and a 2018 fifth-round draft choice.

Footballguys view: What a great move for the Eagles, especially since they restructured Bennett's deal and can essentially move on from him after a year if he doesn't work out. He'll line up next to Fletcher Cox on the interior of the defensive line and should get plenty of push on the pocket.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek was released Tuesday, March 13.

Eagles | Patrick Robinson likely to stay in Philly    Mon Mar 12, 08:07 AM

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent CB Patrick Robinson is expected to return to the Eagles before the tampering window starts, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Eagles have been working to retain him since the Scouting Combine. Signed to a one-year deal last season, Robinson had a breakout year for the Eagles on their way to a Super Bowl 52 championship. The Eagles don't have a ton of salary cap space so getting Robinson a deal is going to be difficult. Reports indicate Robinson could land with the Cardinals or the Giants.

Eagles | Philly acquires Daryl Worley    Fri Mar 9, 01:33 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to trade WR Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for CB Daryl Worley on Friday, March 9.

Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of West Virginia in 2016, Worley has shown some ability as a pro. In 15 games this past season, Worley had 50 solo tackles, 1.0 sack and two interceptions. The Eagles get some much needed depth for their secondary with this move.

Eagles | Vinny Curry probably will not return    Wed Mar 7, 09:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DE Vinny Curry likely will released if the team is not able to trade him.

Seattle Seahawks DE Michael Bennett and a seventh-round draft pick were acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for WR Marcus Johnson and a fifth-round draft pick, according to sources.
