Eagles | Miles Sanders dominant in December    Tue Apr 7, 10:39 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders amassed 639 yards from scrimmage over the final five games of the regular season - the sixth-best total among running backs and the best among all rookie runners over that span.

Footballguys view: Sanders is the clear-cut starter for the Eagles in 2020. He's got RB1 upside with this featured role and could be one of the most valuable fantasy running backs this season.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery was shopped    Tue Apr 7, 09:13 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery was actively shopped after the team guaranteed his 2020 salary last season. Jeffery found out that he was on the market and was troubled by the mixed messages he had received from the team, a source close to the receiver said.

Footballguys view: There wouldn't be much of a market for Jeffery's services (obviously) due to his salary and difficulty staying healthy. We'll see if Jeffery can stay healthy in 2020 and perform up to his potential. Expect the Eagles to select a wide receiver at some point, likely with a premium pick, in the 2020 NFL draft.

Eagles | Competition for JJ Arcega-Whiteside?    Sun Apr 5, 09:19 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside's 169 receiving yards last season ranked 29th among rookies, and Tim McManus of ESPN.com believes the Eagles will look to add some receiving depth via the 2020 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: The Eagles need help at the wide receiver position in a bad way. Arcega-Whiteside flashed a tiny bit during his rookie season last year but they can't rely on him, aging DeSean Jackson and perpetually banged up Alshon Jeffery in 2020. The team needs better weapons around QB Carson Wentz. Expect them to address the position in the 2020 NFL draft...likely with a premium pick.

Eagles | Miles Sanders set to star in 2020?    Sat Apr 4, 10:41 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders averaged more than five yards per carry and 97 yards from scrimmage per game from Week 8 on last season, and Tim McManus of ESPN.com believes there is 'no doubt' that Sanders will be the lead back in 2020.

Footballguys view: Sanders is primed to be a RB1 for Fantasy GMs in 2020. He finished his rookie season as the No.16 fantasy running back in standard-scoring leagues. Finding his way to the top-12 is well within his range, especially since Sanders is going to be the primary back.

Eagles | Carson Wentz felt some heat last season    Wed Apr 1, 10:55 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz was hurried 67 times in 2019 - tied with Derek Carr for the second-highest total in the league.

Footballguys view: The Eagles need to do a better job of protecting their franchise quarterback. In addition, the Eagles wide receivers need to do a better job of getting open and helping out Wentz.

Eagles | Philly counting on JJ Arcega-Whiteside    Sat Mar 28, 09:35 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside 'needs to take a big jump' in 2020 now that he is fully healthy, according to general manager Howie Roseman.

Footballguys view: The 2019 second-round pick from Stanford only played in 10 games as a rookie, compiling just 10 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles have a ho-hum (at best) wide receiver corps and could use more talent in the room. Arcega-Whiteside will be in for a role opposite of Alshon Jeffery in 2020.

Eagles | Malik Jackson has option exercised    Sat Mar 28, 10:39 AM

Eagles | Option picked up for Alshon Jeffery    Fri Mar 27, 06:22 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery had the option in his contract exercised Friday, March 27.

Footballguys view: The Eagles had to or else they would have taken on around $26 million in dead money. Jeffery is coming off Lisfranc surgery and his status for the start of the regular season is unknown. He should be ready but will be quite limited in training camp as the team eases him back into action.

Eagles | Carson Wentz's option picked up    Fri Mar 27, 06:17 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz had the option in his contract exercised Friday, March 27.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. The Eagles went through this move to prevent his salary from jumping to $30 million for 2020. Wentz has a cap hit of $18.6 million in 2020 and there is a whopping $77 million remaining in dead money. He's signed through the 2024 season.

Eagles | Zach Ertz's option exercised    Fri Mar 27, 12:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz on Thursday, March 26, had his 2021 contract option exercised by the team.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Ertz is a big part of what the Eagles do on offense and will remain as such in 2020. He will earn $8.25 million in 2021, and talks on an additional extension are expected to pick up in the coming months.

Eagles | Carson Wentz flawless in close in 2019    Tue Mar 24, 10:56 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz threw for 19 touchdowns versus no interceptions inside the 20 in 2019, making him only one of five regular starting quarterbacks to pass for more than 12 scores and avoid an interception in the red zone last season. He also posted a 15:0 TD-to-INT ratio inside the 10.

Footballguys view: Wentz needs to stay healthy and make the most of the weapons around him. The Eagles are set to be an exciting offense in 2020 with Wentz leading the way.

Free-agent QB Nate Sudfeld (Eagles) agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, March 17. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Eagles | Philly could target Demarcus Robinson    Wed Feb 12, 09:21 PM

Impending free-agent Demarcus Robinson (Chiefs) is expected to be of interest to the Philadelphia Eagles if he is allowed to hit the open market next month, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Footballguys view: Robinson will be familiar with the Eagles offense since Doug Pederson came up under Andy Reid. His speed would be a welcome asset to the Eagles offense. They need a lot of help at the wide receiver position, so we'd expect them to be active at the position in free agency and the 2020 NFL draft.

Eagles | Rich Scangarello officially joins Philly    Thu Feb 6, 04:46 PM

Former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello has been hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as a senior offensive assistant.

Footballguys view: Scangarello struggled as offensive coordinator for the Broncos in 2019. He was the quarterbacks coach with the 49ers before that and has plenty of experience in West Coast concepts like Doug Pederson and the Eagles utilize.

Eagles | Philly prime spot for Amari Cooper    Thu Feb 6, 12:32 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper, a pending free agent, could wind up with the Philadelphia Eagles if he isn't re-signed by the Cowboys, in the opinion of NFL Network analyst David Carr.

Footballguys view: The Eagles need wide receiver help but Cooper may not get away from Dallas. The Cowboys have to pay Cooper, QB Dak Prescott and CB Byron Jones this offseason and they've got the cap space to do it. The Eagles would be a fine destination for Cooper, but Philadelphia had better make other plans.

Footballguys view: Scangarello was not ready to be an offensive coordinator. His play-calling ability was called into question during the 2019 season and the Broncos decided to move on and hired Pat Shurmur as their OC. Scangarello was a quarterbacks coach with the 49ers before the Broncos hired him to run their offense last season.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor not expected back    Mon Feb 3, 03:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent WR Nelson Agholor is not expected to re-sign with the Eagles this offseason.

Footballguys view: Agholor was vastly overpaid in his fifth year option season at over nine million dollars and has become known for his suspect hands. He was a Chip Kelly pick and the last holdover from the 2015 class.

Eagles | Philly expected to pursue Demarcus Robinson    Mon Feb 3, 03:46 PM

Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent WR Demarcus Robinson is expected to receive interest from the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Robinson makes sense in Philadelphia with their shortage of healthy wide receivers at the end of the season and the commonalities between the Chiefs and Eagles offensive systems. He has a chance to have a larger role in Philadelphia than the one he had in Kansas City. His likely departure will free up snaps for Mecole Hardman.

Eagles | Mile Sanders a complete back    Sat Jan 25, 10:19 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders' 1,327 yards from scrimmage in 2019 ranked 16th in the NFL, and his 50 receptions were the most among rookie running backs.

Footballguys view: Sanders is the top back for the Eagles and should get a larger role in 2020. He spent part of his rookie season a little banged up, or splitting time in a RBBC. The Eagles should use a committee at the position but with Sanders as the clear lead runner and receiver out of the backfield this upcoming season.

Eagles | Zach Ertz an extension candidate    Sun Jan 19, 03:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz will be a candidate for a contract extension this offseason.

Footballguys view: Ertz is under contract with the Eagles through the 2021 season. He has a cap hit of $12.4 million in 2020 and there's $13.5 million remaining in dead money. The Eagles might want to adjust that number and re-work the veteran tight ends deal. Ertz appeared in 15 games in 2019, catching 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. That was good to rank No.5 for fantasy tight ends in standard-scoring leagues.
