Eagles | Nelson Agholor works as returner    Mon Jun 26, 06:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor worked as a kick returner during offseason workouts and could join RB Wendell Smallwood as the first-team kick returners this season.

Footballguys view: Agholor seems like a new man after two disappointing seasons with the Eagles. A first-round pick in 2015, Agholor has only 59 catches for 648 yards and three touchdowns during his pro career. The talent has always been there to do more, and this offseason there has been a steady drumbeat of positive reports about Agholor. He's fourth on the depth chart at wide receiver, but we're adding him on the cheap in dynasty leagues from owners who may have given up on him too quickly.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery has impressed so far    Mon Jun 26, 02:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery may be having the best offseason in a few years, according to wide receivers coach Mike Groh. Groh coached Jeffery for three seasons with the Chicago Bears and he believes his receiver is having his best offseason since 2013.

Footballguys view: Great news for the veteran wide receiver -- and his fantasy owners -- here. Jeffery is currently going off the board at WR16 (3.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. He should be everything the Eagles have been looking for in a no1 wide receiver. Jeffery is at a good place physically and mentally as he continues to develop chemistry with his new QB Carson Wentz.

Eagles | Donnel Pumphrey moved around during workouts    Sat Jun 24, 04:15 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey lined up at running back, wide receiver and slot receiver during offseason workouts because the team wanted to see if he could catch and what he could do in space.

Footballguys view: Pumphrey is dangerous in space and the Eagles are grooming him to be the eventual replacement to Darren Sproles. They'll have a package of plays in for him this year as a rookie, and his role will be limited by his size (170 pounds).

Eagles | Philly DEs will be part of rotation    Sat Jun 24, 04:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DEs Derek Barnett, Brandon Graham, Chris Long and Vinny Curry are expected to be a part of a rotation at the defensive ends spots during the regular season.

Footballguys view: The Eagles have a nice mix of experience and youth at this position. We love the upside of Barnett, one of the most productive players coming out of college in 2017. Barnett finished his college career as the all-time leader in sacks at the University of Tennessee. His technique and hustle could help him make an early impact as a pro.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor making an impact    Thu Jun 22, 11:38 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor has been a star during spring practices, according to receivers coach Mike Groh. 'He had a really productive spring,' Groh said. 'He attacked the spring. He's shown up and made an impact at virtually every practice. Really excited about where he's at right now.'

Footballguys view: With Jordan Matthews (knee) banged up in minicamp it was Agholor starting in the slot for the Eagles. There has been a steady drumbeat about Agholor looking better this offseason, and those reports have certainly got our attention from a dynasty standpoint.

Eagles | Carson Wentz finishes minicamp strong    Sat Jun 17, 08:22 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz 'appeared to hit his stride' during the team's three-day minicamp, throwing crisper and more accurate passes than he did at the beginning.

Footballguys view: Wentz is working to avoid any sophomore slump. The Eagles did a lot of work this offseason to put better pass-catching talent around him. New WRs Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith should help Wentz avoid any slump and put up better numbers than he did last season during his rookie year. Wentz is a QB2 for fantasy owners this year and is going off the board at QB18 (12.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Shelton Gibson continues to struggle    Thu Jun 15, 09:52 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Shelton Gibson has struggled with dropping passes throughout spring practices, and he has dropped passes during individual drills with no defenders guarding him.

Eagles | Wendell Smallwood falling out of favor?    Thu Jun 15, 09:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood has seen noticeably fewer reps than RB Donnel Pumphrey during practice, according to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com

Footballguys view: Pumphrey is likely being groomed to be the team's next Darren Sproles. We could see a package of plays put in for the rookie from San Diego State this year. Smallwood is no lock for the 53-man roster.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews expects to be at camp    Thu Jun 15, 05:21 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) expects to be ready for training camp despite dealing with knee tendinitis.

Footballguys view: Matthews is in a tough spot. He's a good - not great - receiver and he has to contend with Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith as well. While Jeffery was banged up a lot last season and Smith seems to be losing gas, both have shown more than Matthews and he's going to have a hard time getting targets here. His ADP as 44 wide receiver is maybe even a tad high if things work the way the Eagles hope in terms of the new additions.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor shows out Thursday    Thu Jun 15, 11:46 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor has made some great catches in practice Thursday, June 15, according to beat writer Derrick Gunn.

Footballguys view: While this is great to hear, playing in shorts has never really been Algholor's issue - playing in pads is. The former USC Trojan struggled with focus and the playbook again last season and with the additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith, it's hard to see him producing much.

Eagles | Jason Peters signs extension    Wed Jun 14, 09:51 AM

Philadelphia Eagles OT Jason Peters signed a one-year extension through the 2019 season Wednesday, June 14.

Footballguys view: Peters is now signed through his age-37 season. He wanted to retire with the Eagles, and now it looks as though he'll get that opportunity. Peters is signed for three years for $32.5 million with $15.5 million guaranteed.

Eagles | Donnel Pumphrey working with ones    Tue Jun 13, 10:56 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey continues to work with the first-team offense in camp, and the team is preparing him for a role in the offense.

Footballguys view: Pumphrey may be small (169 pounds) but the team is preparing packages of plays for the NCAA's all-time leading rusher. He'll work in a mix with Darren Sproles to provide a change-of-pace behind starter LeGarrette Blount.

Eagles | Alshon Jeffery finding a rhythm     Sun Jun 11, 09:23 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery said he and QB Carson Wentz and the rest of the offense are starting to click.

Footballguys view: That's great news for Eagles fans and fantasy owners. Jeffery signed a one-year 'prove it' deal with Philadelphia earlier this year. If he plays up to his potential in this offense, Jeffery could get that 'break the bank' deal he wanted. Fantasy players should look at him as a WR2 with upside. His current ADP is WR16 (3.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Nathan Gerry working well at LB    Sun Jun 11, 02:11 PM

Eagles | Jason Peters absent from OTA's    Sun Jun 11, 04:15 AM

Eagles | Shelton Gibson has dropsies    Thu Jun 8, 11:49 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Shelton Gibson dropped two consecutive passes in practice Thursday, June 8.

Footballguys view: The former West Virginia wide receiver and fifth round pick, Gibson can be a vertical threat even if that's almost all of his game. The drops have been a problem throughout college though, and a concern as he begins his NFL career. If he can't sort out his pan-hands, that career will be brief.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews could play if needed    Thu Jun 8, 11:02 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) could play if this were the regular season, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Matthews is moving back to the slot with Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith in the offense now, and he's a better fit there. While he may be more effective, his ceiling will depend on how much the Eagles throw and how Carson Wentz develops. He's tracking as the No. 45 receiver off the board and the 109 overall player in terms of ADP, which is about where we think he belongs.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews remains sidelined    Mon Jun 5, 07:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) did not participate in organized team activities Monday, June 5, because of knee tendinitis.

Footballguys view: A concerning note here since Matthews has a history of nagging injuries slowing him down. It's June, and there's plenty of time to get healthy but just keep an eye on his health status. From a fantasy lens, Matthews value has taken a hit with the additions of WRs Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith in free agency.

Eagles | LeGarrette Blount does not practice    Mon Jun 5, 07:37 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount (illness) did not participate in organized team activities Monday, June 5, because of an illness.

Footballguys view: This doesn't sound like anything serious, so no worries. Blount will be the battering ram for the Eagles in 2017. It will be difficult to duplicate his production from last year (especially those 18 rushing TDs), but Blount still has RB3 value for fantasy owners this year. His current ADP is RB28 (6.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Timmy Jernigan limps off    Mon Jun 5, 07:30 PM

Eagles | Torrey Smith makes plays Monday    Mon Jun 5, 07:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith caught multiple deep throws from QB Carson Wentz during organized team activities Monday, June 5. Smith said he is still working on improving his chemistry with Wentz.

Footballguys view: Smith is there to be the team's deep threat, but his fantasy value is limited in that role. Sure, Smith may snare some big passes here and there but his job is to stretch the field and open things up for guys like Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz and Jordan Matthews. Smith is a WR7 and is going undrafted in most 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Donnel Pumphrey's expected role    Mon Jun 5, 09:23 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey will finish his rookie season with more receiving than rushing yards, in the opinion of NJ Advance Media's Matt Lombardo.

Footballguys view: That's not outlandish to predict as Pumphrey is too small (170 pounds) to be a factor as a runner at the NFL level. He can work as a part-time player, but the team needs to get him in space. That's where his receiving ability can be highlighted.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews slowed by tendinitis    Sun Jun 4, 10:35 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) missed the final practice of OTAs last week due to tendinitis in his knee.

Footballguys view: Matthews has hit low-end WR2 numbers in his career before (2014, 2015) but last year his play fell off and he finished at WR51. Playing in only 14 games in 2016, Matthews had 73 catches for 804 yards and three touchdowns. This year with Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith added to the passing game, Matthews is clearly locked in as the third option at wide receiver. Add in the signing of RB LeGarrette Blount and you see a team that is looking for balance on offense. Matthews is likely just a WR5 for fantasy owners this year, and he has a current ADP of WR47 (10.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Alex McCalister returns to action    Sun Jun 4, 10:24 AM

Eagles | Sidney Jones could return in October    Sun Jun 4, 09:58 AM

In a best-case scenario, Philadelphia Eagles CB Sidney Jones (Achilles') could make his NFL debut as soon as late-October. However, the possibility remains that Jones could miss the entire 2017 season due to a ruptured Achilles' tendon.

Footballguys view: A second-round pick with first-round talent, Jones injured himself during his pro day and many felt at that time he was likely to miss all of his rookie year. When healthy, Jones plays a lot like fellow "casino cornerback" (and fellow Washington Husky) Marcus Peters. Jones will take chances in coverage, but he can make plays and lock down the receiver he's tasked with covering. With so much upside, the Eagles would be foolish to risk aggravating the injury by bringing Jones back too soon.

Eagles | Mychal Kendricks battling hammy injury    Sun Jun 4, 09:54 AM

Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) was limited in practice after sustaining a hamstring injury during OTAs last week.

Footballguys view: The Eagles don't want to get Kendricks more banged up with this hamstring injury, so they'll take it easy on him...especially if they still have him on the trade block. The problem with trading Kendricks is his contract. Due $6.6 million in 2017, there's still $9.1 million left in dead money on his deal. We'll see if the team ends up trading him, so they don't have to release him and take that cap hit.

Eagles | Torrey Smith to return to form?    Sun May 28, 12:04 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Torrey Smith will look more like the receiver he was with the Baltimore Ravens, according to beat writer Tim McManus.

Footballguys view: That's all nice and well, but Smith hasn't had 1,000 yards receiving in a season since 2013. He should be more productive than he was in San Francisco (33 and 20 catches over the last two years), but don't expect Smith to get much fantasy production behind Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz in the pecking order.

Eagles | Carson Wentz stronger heading into Year 2    Sat May 27, 12:53 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz is noticeably stronger and appears to be throwing the ball better than he did as a rookie, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.

Footballguys view: Wentz is throwing tighter spirals out at Eagles camp per beat writers covering the team. He also seems more comfortable and confident as he enters his second season as a pro. Wentz has way better pass-catchers around him this year as the team made an emphasis to add talent in the offseason. He should be looked at as a low-end QB2 in 2017, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Wentz finish around QB15 when all is said and done.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor turning a corner    Fri May 26, 09:57 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor has benefited from the offseason additions to the receiving corps, according to head coach Doug Pederson. 'As I've said all along, competition, man, sharpens you,' Pederson said Tuesday, May 23. 'And that's what I've seen from Nelson. He's done a great job already this spring.'

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in 2015, Agholor has been a bust as a pro. Even if he's better in 2017, Agholor is still fourth (at best) on the depth chart behind Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith and Jordan Matthews.

Eagles | Carson Wentz talks up Alshon Jeffery    Thu May 25, 11:21 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz said he loves what WR Alshon Jeffery brings to the table and is looking forward to developing chemistry with the receiver. 'He plays on time, he knows what he's doing, his catch radius is impressive,' Wentz said 'That's the first thing that jumps out at me. I'm just looking forward to continuing to build that relationship.'

Footballguys view: Imagine how happy Wentz is after the lack of talent he had to work with last year. The second-year quarterback has a legitimate no1 WR in Jeffery, and the duo could produce at a high level for the Eagles this year. Wentz is still learning and more of a bye week QB2 for fantasy owners. Jeffery is proven and is getting drafted at WR16 (3.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham likely on bubble    Sat May 20, 01:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham likely will be on the roster bubble during training camp unless he gets a sudden grasp of the offense, in the opinion of NJ.com's Matt Lombardo.

Footballguys view: Potential is a dirty, filthy word and Green-Beckham has always been a player with a ton of it...but he's never really played up to that potential. With the additions to the passing game like WRs Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery, we don't consider him a lock to make the final roster even though he's physically gifted.

Eagles | LeGarrette Blount to lead backfield?    Fri May 19, 09:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount will likely inherit the carries RB Ryan Mathews was given last year, according to beat writer Jimmy Kempski, and Kempski estimates Blount will see around 170 carries.

Footballguys view: That's a given as the other backs on the Eagles roster are more part-time or change-of-pace players. Mathews is likely to be released as soon as he's considered healthy coming back from neck surgery. Blount may not produce like he did last year (no.7 fantasy RB), but he should perform like a low-end RB2 (standard) or flex option (PPR) in fantasy leagues.

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount said QB Carson Wentz is 'one of those guys you want to build a team around' and 'has the potential to be a really special player.'

Footballguys view: Wentz is a player that the whole staff...and now a new teammate...are excited to work with. He struggled as his rookie season went on last year, but now Wentz has better weapons around him. The addition of WRs Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith should help him stay consistent as a passer.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews done in Philly?    Wed May 17, 01:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews is expected to be released once he is healthy following the signing of LeGarrette Blount, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Footballguys view: As soon as the Blount news came in, it meant Mathews would be on his way out. Mathews suffered a neck injury late last year that required surgery, and he may not be designated healthy for another couple of months. If/When on the open market, we can't see teams lining up around the block for a 30-year old (in October), injury prone running back like Mathews.
