Footballguys view: Sproles is considered to be ahead of schedule in his recovery from an MCL injury. We'll need to see if he can practice later in the week. At this time, his status for the Week 8 game on Sunday against the Cardinals is up in the air.

Eagles | Nick Foles leads in turnovers    Mon Oct 13, 12:18 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles leads the league with 10 turnovers this year (seven interceptions and three fumbles). Last season, he had 29 touchdown passes, including the playoffs, and just two interceptions.

Footballguys view: Foles is struggling this year, but the Eagles are 5-1, so they'll take that. They'll continue to work with Foles in order to make him comfortable as a passer.

Eagles | Darren Sproles out a few weeks    Mon Oct 13, 11:37 AM

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (knee) is believed to have avoided an anterior cruciate ligament tear. However, he's expected to miss a few weeks due to the knee injury.

Footballguys view: With Sproles out, it will change the target structure in the passing game for the Eagles. We could see more passes thrown toward the tight ends in the coming weeks. Sproles won't be vulturing away any carries for LeSean McCoy either, so a larger role could be there too.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy hits century mark    Sun Oct 12, 11:37 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy carried 22 times for a season-high 149 yards in Week 6 against the New York Giants, although he was held out of the end zone again. He also chipped in with two receptions for five yards.

Footballguys view: McCoy found more big holes than he did in the first five games combined. He's going to be just fine for his owners and he gets a well-timed bye to rest and carry over this momentum to the last ten games of the season.

Eagles | Darren Sproles unhappy about news    Sun Oct 12, 10:58 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (knee) had the stability of his left medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligament tested by a team orthopedist, and sideline reporter Michele Tafoya said 'whatever news he delivered' to Sproles reportedly made him 'unhappy.'

Footballguys view: The Eagles are on bye next week, so we might not get an update on this injury right away, but Sproles' owners should prepare for a multi-week absence and feel like they dodged a bullet if he is back soon.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy needs to break free    Fri Oct 10, 10:52 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he needs to break more tackles and felt like he was taken down by a lot of desperation tackles in Week 5. 'There's still stuff that we need to do to get better with it, and I think it starts with me,' McCoy said. 'I need to break more tackles. I feel like last game was too many save tackles, like a guy just gets my leg, stuff like that.'

Footballguys view: McCoy is spending too much time running east-west and needs to take the tough yards that are there and get downhill. The reason he isn't breaking tackles is that he is giving the defense too many opportunities to catch him by trying to bounce runs outside.

Eagles | Brad Smith to miss time    Thu Oct 9, 11:43 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Brad Smith (abdomen) recently underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will miss a few weeks, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Footballguys view: Smith hasn't had a huge impact on the return game and none in the offense so this isn't too much more than a blip. He's not the player he used to be with the New York Jets.

Eagles | Mychal Kendricks likely out    Thu Oct 9, 08:55 AM

Eagles | Expectations too high for Nick Foles?    Wed Oct 8, 01:07 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles entered last season as the full-time starter and jumped into a situation with head coach Chip Kelly's offense catching other teams off guard because of its ingenuity. Also, the offensive line was mostly veteran and 100 percent healthy. Foles didn't have to do much to be successful. Coming into the season, expectations were that he'd be the franchise quarterback. However, Foles has struggled due to lack of experience and a changing scene around him. 'He's playing on a team where we're less than perfect in a lot of ways,' offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur acknowledged. Foles has made some terrible throws this year, and he isn't always setting his feet or sliding in the pocket. 'I'm progressing. I'm continuing to learn. I might not go out there and have the stats that are perfect, but I'm going to keep on working to be the quarterback I know these (coaches) want me to be,' Foles said.

Footballguys view: Expectations are fine--needed in fact--if you want to excel on the football field. It's a lame excuse to say that the expectations were too high this year. Foles is a young quarterback, and there are many parts of his game that are a work in progress. The work continues as Foles is locked in as the Eagles starter.

Eagles | Coach removed LeSean McCoy from game    Tue Oct 7, 12:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said running backs coach Duce Staley removed him late in the team's Week 5 win when the team was trying to run out the clock. McCoy was removed in favor of RB Darren Sproles. 'They called me out. Duce pulled me out,' McCoy said. 'For the most part, if I'm tired, I come out. Then Sproles has his different packages, he has his plays to come in, but the majority of the time, it's just how I'm feeling.' Sproles popped a 25-yard run the first play after replacing McCoy, who had 81 yards on 24 carries in the game.

Footballguys view: McCoy is not looking like himself this season, but he produced better in Week 5. Let's hope that the Eagles can continue to jumpstart his game until McCoy looks like his old self.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy checks out    Mon Oct 6, 09:52 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy took himself out of the game in the fourth quarter Sunday, Oct. 5, according to head coach Chip Kelly. The team was trying to ice the game with a six-point lead.

Footballguys view: McCoy produced an acceptable level of fantasy points in Week 5, but he didn't quite look like himself. The Eagles offense is still a work in progress, and their offensive line isn't doing themselves any favors. McCoy owners need to stay the course with the superstar back.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin sees room to improve    Sat Oct 4, 08:31 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin is on pace for 84 catches, 1,456 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, but he said he still feels that he and QB Nick Foles need to improve their chemistry, especially on deep routes. 'Unfortunately we haven't been on the same page much, but we'll continue to grow and get it going,' Maclin said.

Footballguys view: In other words, Maclin and Foles's inconsistency notwithstanding, Maclin is a WR1 right now. Much like Mike Wallace and Ryan Tannehill, if QB and WR can get on the same page, sparks will fly in fantasy leagues.

Eagles | Nick Foles working on accuracy    Fri Oct 3, 07:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said he has been working on improving his accuracy during practice this week after missing some throws during the Week 4 game. 'I've definitely tried to just take some shots, stretch them out a little bit,' Foles said. 'I need to be a little more accurate, that's what I'm working on this week, working on that, and staying clean in the pocket so I can deliver the ball to our guys where they can go up and make a play, not where the ball lands in front of them.'

Footballguys view: We'll see if Foles can clean up this part of his game. The Eagles haven't been providing good pass-protection, and Foles' performance has suffered.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin fully practices    Thu Oct 2, 03:19 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Footballguys view: He should be good to go in a good matchup and we expect him to pull together WR2 numbers. The risk is Nick Foles, who has been having trouble seeing a wide open Maclin on deep routes. If he can hit more of them, Maclin could produce better numbers as the season progresses.
