Eagles | Mark Sanchez thriving on play action    Wed Nov 26, 02:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez has thrown six interceptions this year, but all of them haven't been game-changing turnovers. In Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, Sanchez thrived on play-action passes as the team re-established the running game. Sanchez was 12-for-14 for 124 yards and a touchdown off play-action passes. Sanchez, in general, has been much better on play-action passes all year, which fits well with the team's offense. He also hasn't thrown an interception this year outside the pocket, and he's replacing QB Nick Foles, who struggled outside the pocket.

Footballguys view: Sanchez has better athleticism than Foles, and that ability is hyper-critical in this offense. His rushing ability helps keep defensive ends honest as they crash in. Sanchez can also extend plays and keep his eyes downfield as a passer.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews probable    Wed Nov 26, 12:40 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26, and is probable for Week 13.

Footballguys view: Matthews has become a must-start for fantasy owners because of his chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez. We like him as a strong WR2/flex play against the Cowboys in Week 13.

Eagles | Zach Ertz probable    Wed Nov 26, 12:39 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) fully participated in practice and is probable for Week 13.

Footballguys view: Is it an Ertz week or a Brent Celek week? Will James Casey snare a touchdown to further frustrate you? The Eagles use multiple tight ends, and deciphering which one is the correct play can be a headache. Ertz is a low-end TE2.

Eagles | Wednesday practice report for Week 13    Wed Nov 26, 12:38 PM

Philadelphia Eagles S Nate Allen (ankle), DE Brandon Bair (elbow), PK Cody Parkey (right groin) and OT Jason Peters (quadricep) all fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26, and are probable for Week 13. LB Emmanuel Acho (groin) was limited in practice and is questionable.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Footballguys view: Matthews and that strong connection with Mark Sanchez has been coming through for fantasy owners. Make sure to have him in your lineup as a WR3/flex play.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Monday, Nov. 24.

Footballguys view: Matthews has a strong connection with quarterback Mark Sanchez. We consider him a WR3/flex play every week because of that on-field chemistry.

Eagles | Nick Foles to be examined    Mon Nov 24, 11:26 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is due for an examination in the next two weeks. His recovery is going well, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Mark Sanchez has been doing a good job as the team's starter while Foles has been out. In two weeks, we'll have a better idea if Foles could be available to come back at some point later in the season.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy righting the ship    Sun Nov 23, 06:04 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy is averaging 95 yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry over the past seven weeks.

Footballguys view: McCoy hasn't had the explosive games and major involvement as a receiver he had last year, but he is still one of the few RB1s for fantasy, getting steady volume in a good offense. Next up is Dallas on Thanksgiving.

Eagles | Cody Parkey sets team record    Sun Nov 23, 06:04 PM

Philadelphia Eagles PK Cody Parkey kicked five field goals in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, including a 50-yard effort. He is the first player in franchise history with four or more 50-yard field goals in a single season.

Footballguys view: Parkey will be one of the higher scorers in most fantasy lineups. The Eagles kicker and defense were both terrific plays today.

Eagles | Zach Ertz left game briefly    Sun Nov 23, 06:03 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) left the Week 12 game against the Tennessee Titans due to an oblique injury, but he was able to return. He finished with four receptions for 30 yards.

Eagles | Another score for Darren Sproles    Sun Nov 23, 05:01 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles carried six times for 25 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, and he added three receptions for 14 yards.

Footballguys view: Sproles' decisiveness is getting him red zone opportunities, and he is converting. While he isn't an everyweek start outside of return yards leagues, Sproles is keeping LeSean McCoy from approaching his 2013 ceiling.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy finally shows up    Sun Nov 23, 05:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy carried 21 times for 130 yards and a rushing touchdown in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, and he added one reception for just one yard.

Footballguys view: The Titans run defense is their soft underbelly. The Texans will get to attack it next week, while McCoy goes to Dallas for Thanksgiving.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez over 300 yards again    Sun Nov 23, 04:59 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez completed 30 of his 43 pass attempts for 307 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 12 win against the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Sanchez's day was actually very uneven against a weak defense. Thanksgiving brings a trip to Dallas and another boom/bust scoring range for his owners.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy has big first half    Sun Nov 23, 02:45 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries in the first half of the team's Week 12 game.

Footballguys view: The Titans gave up over 200 to LeVeon Bell last week, and McCoy could be on his way to matching that in his best fantasy week of the season to date in only a half of play.

Eagles | Zach Ertz to return    Sun Nov 23, 02:23 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) will be able to return to the team's Week 12 game after missing time with an oblique injury.

Footballguys view: Don't rush out for Brent Celek on the waiver wire just yet, but keep him on waiver wire speed dial if this ends up being a problem for Ertz.

Eagles | Zach Ertz injured    Sun Nov 23, 02:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) suffered an oblique injury in Week 12 and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Brent Celek could have some stable TE1 value if he's the full-time Eagles tight end for any amount of time this season.

Eagles | Zach Ertz needs to block better    Thu Nov 20, 09:19 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has played 143 fewer snaps than TE Brent Celek this season, and when asked why Ertz wasn't playing as much, head coach Chip Kelly pointed to Celek's superior skills as a run blocker.

Footballguys view: This is keeping Ertz from getting off the ground as a fantasy TE in this prolific offense. It could be something that caps his upside for the duration of his career with the Eagles because blocking is not his strength.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews fully practices     Thu Nov 20, 02:56 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Footballguys view: We're expecting a big from from Matthews against Tennessee, and have him ranked as a WR2. Matthews has had at least a touchdown each of the last three games and we believe he'll keep that going this weekend.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy says he is same player    Thu Nov 20, 01:38 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he is the same player he was last season even though he is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry this season, which is the lowest in his career.

Footballguys view: He may think he's the same player - he might even be the same player - but the team around him isn't. The offensive line has had issues, the quarterback situation is wobbly and McCoy himself has been prone to hesitating at the line and stretching the play outside. It's made him struggle and limited his ability to get into the end zone. Tennessee is a great matchup, so we see him having one of his better weeks an have him as an RB1.

Eagles | Nick Foles throws during warmups    Wed Nov 19, 02:50 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) did some throwing during warmups Wednesday, Nov. 19, but did not participate in practice.

Footballguys view: There's no word on Foles' timetable right now. If Mark Sanchez performs well, there's no guarantee that Foles would even come back to a starting job. It's a good sign that he's throwing, but it's no indication of how quickly he'll be back on the field. It's a step in the process....but we're still early in that process.

Eagles | Earl Wolff to IR    Tue Nov 18, 04:09 PM

Eagles | No updates on Nick Foles    Tue Nov 18, 02:01 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone), who cracked his clavicle in Week 8, is expected to miss at least another month, but head coach Chip Kelly said there have been no recent updates on his condition. "No," Kelly said. "He'll get a re-check at some point in time, but they said it's usually three to four weeks out before they ever take another x-ray. So he has not had that done yet." Foles has been working out, but not in game conditions.

Footballguys view: We could see Foles shut down for a month or more. In the meantime, Mark Sanchez will continue as the starter for the Eagles.

Eagles | Jason Kelce struggled with snaps    Tue Nov 18, 02:01 PM

Philadelphia Eagles C Jason Kelce (hernia) had some trouble with snaps in Week 11 after recovering from a sports hernia. "I just think he's been a little more erratic at times, and he has got to be a little more consistent," head coach Chip Kelly said. "I think that the layoff has hurt him a little bit. He will be the first to admit that. So we just need to get more consistent with the snap." Kelce also had his thumb wrapped, but Kelly doesn't think that's the issue.

Free-agent QB Terrelle Pryor (Seahawks) and QB Thaddeus Lewis (Bills) worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Nov. 15.

Eagles | Zach Ertz's role shrinking    Tue Nov 11, 12:24 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz continued to see his role shrink in Week 10 versus the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, as head coach Chip Kelly seems more comfortable with TE Brent Celek because of his blocking skills.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to move on from Ertz until we see more from the young tight end. Celek is the better play from this offense, and that may not change for the rest of the year. Ertz must work on his blocking moving forward.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has chemistry with new QB    Tue Nov 11, 12:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews, who had seven catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win with QB Mark Sanchez starting, developed some nice chemistry with Sanchez in training camp this year. Sanchez may have completed more passes to Mathews than any other player in camp while working with the second-team offense. Sanchez immediately found Matthews for a touchdown when he relieved QB Nick Foles in Week 8 because of an injury, too.

Footballguys view: Matthews has always reminded us of Eric Decker (Jets). Like Decker, Matthews can make tough catches and he runs crisp routes. Matthews is not incredibly athletic, so he will have trouble gaining separation (like Decker) against good slot corners. We love Matthews as a matchup play because of the chemistry with Sanchez.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez excels on Monday night    Tue Nov 11, 11:58 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, in his first start since Dec. 30, 2012. WR Jordan Matthews had 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and RB Darren Sproles had an eight-yard touchdown run and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Footballguys view: Sanchez's athleticism make him a nice fit for the Chip Kelly system. Defenders now must respect the quarterback's ability to run, and this opens things up for receivers in the offense.

Eagles | Nick Foles out for Week 10    Sat Nov 8, 05:13 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) didn't practice Saturday, Nov. 8, and is out for Week 10.

Footballguys view: It's the Mark Sanchez show and while Sanchez looked OK last week on short notice, Carolina has a week's worth of tape with Sanchez under center with the Eagles to watch. We see Sanchez as a high-end QB2 but there is some risk of Jets Sanchez rearing his ugly head, so be careful.
