Eagles | Zach Ertz making big plays    Tue Sep 16, 11:07 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz leads the NFL in yards per reception (23.3) through two weeks. He also is tied with Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones for the most receptions of 20-plus yards (six) and has as many 20-plus-yard catches as 20 other teams.

Footballguys view: The design of the Chip Kelly offense gets the tight end open with ease. Ertz is running his routes at proper depth, and that's why he's been able to make big plays.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles had seven receptions for a career-high 152 yards in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Sept. 15. He also had four carries for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Footballguys view: According to Elias, it's the second-most in a single game in NFL history by a player 5'6" or shorter. The record holder is Lionel James (5'6") when he had 168 receiving yards for the Chargers on November 10, 1985 against the Raiders.

Footballguys view: Foles has been a big reason for the Eagles' second-half success. Per ESPN Stats & Info, he has more than quadrupled his Total QBR in the 2nd half of games this season. Foles has a better completion percentage, yards per attempt and touchdown-to-interception ratio in the second half of games this year.

Eagles | Nick Foles ready to improve    Thu Sep 11, 10:41 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said the indecisiveness that led to him missing several open receivers in the team's Week 1 game is a 'correctable' issue.

Footballguys view: Foles could have thrown for over 600 yards by some estimations. The takeaway here is that Foles has a lot of untapped upside, but if this becomes persistent, his grip on the job could loosen. Washington could also have some great success against the Jags secondary this weekend if Robert Griffin III is given time to throw.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews rises depth chart    Tue Sep 9, 10:24 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews is now officially ahead of WR Brad Smith as the No. 3 wide receiver on the depth chart.

Footballguys view: Matthews should've been there anyway. He was clutch in college at Vanderbilt, and the rookie could make similar plays for the Eagles this year. His fantasy value is somewhat low, but Matthews is certainly a player to monitor in dynasty leagues.

Eagles | Healthy Jeremy Maclin is key    Sun Sep 7, 08:45 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) posted a team-high 97 receiving yards on four catches with a touchdown in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He showed that, while not as fast as departed WR DeSean Jackson (Redskins), he can provide the team with a downfield threat. 'I wasn't really worried about (his surgically repaired knee). I was going out there and playing football. The knee is behind me now, so I am looking forward,' Maclin said Sunday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: Maclin benefited from a busted coverage on his long TD, but otherwise was just part of mix of Eagles targets that did not seem to feature any single player. It's going to be hard to time big weeks from the Eagles passing game targets.

Eagles | Arrelious Benn cut    Sat Sep 6, 07:17 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Arrelious Benn (back) was released with an injury settlement Saturday, Sept. 6.

Footballguys view: Benn is constantly hurt (he got a concussion in the Eagles' third preseason game) and so has never reached the potential some felt he had coming out of college. He's not worth a roster spot even in the deepest of dynasty leagues.

Link to story
Arrelious Benn player page

Eagles | Friday injury report for Week 1    Fri Sep 5, 02:34 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Brad Smith (groin) fully practiced Friday, Sept. 5, and is probable for Week 1. RB Chris Polk (hamstring) and CB Jaylen Watkins (hamstring) both fully practiced and are questionable. WR Josh Huff (shoulder) and OT Matt Tobin (ankle) both did not practice and have been ruled out.

Footballguys view: Polk has been sidelined by a hamstring for all of camp and the preseason. If he can't go, Darren Sproles would presumably get another touch or three spelling LeSean McCoy at RB.

Eagles | Riley Cooper practices again    Thu Sep 4, 04:12 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 4.

Footballguys view: Cooper should be ready to go against the Jacksonville Jaguars and in line for a decent day. But with Jeremy Maclin and Jordan Matthews, his numbers aren't likely to approach 2013's. We see him as a WR4 this week, yes, even against the Jaguars.
