Saints | Marques Colston struggling    Mon Sep 29, 04:25 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston has struggled quite a bit during the first month of the season and seems to disappear at times. He had a late-game fumble against the Atlanta Falcons, was completely invisible against the Cleveland Browns and his play against the Dallas Cowboys was up and down.

Footballguys view: The entire Saints offense struggled against a better-than-expected Cowboys defense. We'll see if he can get back on the right track, but fantasy owners have to start looking elsewhere when considering a WR2 or flex play each week.

Saints | Running game in neutral?     Mon Sep 29, 04:20 PM

On paper, the New Orleans Saints running game looks good against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. The team had 13 carries for 104 yards. However, outside of RB Khiry Robinson's 62-yard run in the fourth quarter, the Saints rushed 12 times for just 42 yards.

Footballguys view: The running game is in neutral because the entire offense is stalling. Sure, the Saints put up some numbers in garbage time, but they struggled to move the ball when the game was at hand.

Saints | Khiry Robinson on the rise    Thu Sep 18, 10:12 AM

New Orleans Saints RB Khiry Robinson's workload will increase after RB Mark Ingram's (hand) injury. 'He's another back we feel like is young (but) is someone that'll be ready for the workload,' said head coach Sean Payton.

Footballguys view: Robinson's star has been slowly rising in many fantasy circles, and if he's available in your league this might be your last chance to grab him as we expect he could have a very good game this week against the Minnesota Vikings. We've got him as a good flex start--the type of back who is at least an RB3 and could produce as an RB2. His upside is monumental going forward.

Saints | Edwin Baker added to PS    Tue Sep 16, 06:47 PM

The New Orleans Saints added free-agent RB Edwin Baker (Browns) to their practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Footballguys view: Baker has a strong lower body, and he can grind defenses down between the tackles. The Saints need more bodies at the running back position with Mark Ingram out for a few weeks with a broken hand.

Saints | Browns shut down Saints' passing game    Mon Sep 15, 02:19 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston, who didn't catch a pass in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns for the first time in 87 games, wasn't even targeted a single time. The Browns made it their mission to shut the Saints' downfield passing game down, and Cleveland had seven defensive backs on the field at once at times. WR Brandin Cooks was held to just three catches for 17 yards, and the four receivers combined for nine catches for 79 yards.

Saints | Mark Ingram injury update    Mon Sep 15, 01:26 PM

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) suffered a broken hand in the team's Week 2 game and will miss at least four weeks, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Just when you thought Ingram was going to be a steal of your draft/waiver wire. Ingram runs with a lot of passion, but he doesn't care about his personal safety. This style has caused him to get banged up quite a bit as a pro. We'll see more from Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas with Ingram out.

Saints | Mark Ingram out a month    Mon Sep 15, 12:29 PM

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) is expected to miss roughly a month after injuring his hand in Week 2, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners were just getting excited about Ingram after he produced at a high level for two weeks in a row. With this injury, we should see more from Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas.

Saints | Marques Colston shut out    Mon Sep 15, 09:25 AM

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston was held without a reception Sunday, Sept. 14. It was the first time he didn't record a catch in a game since 2008.

Footballguys view: Colston has had a rough start to begin the 2014 season. The fumble in Week 1 cost the Saints the game, and now this. We'll see if the veteran can bounce back in the coming weeks and be that solid-yet-unspectacular WR2 he's been for years.

Saints | Week 2 Inactives    Sun Sep 14, 11:45 AM

The New Orleans Saints have declared FB Erik Lorig, DL Glenn Foster, WR Joe Morgan, SS Marcus Ball, WR Nick Toon, OT Senio Kelemete, CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste inactive for Week 2.

Saints | Kenny Stills probable    Fri Sep 12, 05:35 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 12, and is probable for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Brandin Cooks becomes a less attractive play with Stills likely taking some of his snaps, but both have boom/bust WR3/Flex upside at Cleveland.

Saints | Kenny Stills limited again    Thu Sep 11, 06:37 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) was limited in practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: Stills was a hot name before the start of training camp. That has cooled off now that he's been banged up. Rookie Brandin Cooks is the WR "not named Marques Colston" who is getting a lot of love from the Saints offense.

Saints | Limited practice for Kenny Stills     Wed Sep 10, 05:22 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Footballguys view: Stills has intriguing upside because of his size/speed combination, but rookie Brandin Cooks has been stealing his thunder. Feel free to make a waiver wire move for Stills until we see him healthy, stay healthy and produce on the football field.

Saints | Mark Ingram stands out    Mon Sep 8, 09:36 AM

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram had 13 rushes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1

Footballguys view: Ingram ran with passion and aggression against a poor Falcons run defense. Don't expect this every week from Ingram, but in games against an inferior defense make sure to have him in as a "what the heck" flex at least.

Saints | Brandin Cooks has solid debut    Sun Sep 7, 09:29 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks had seven receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: Cooks is an instant hit with Kenny Stills out, but as his yards per catch indicates, he is absorbing a quasi-Darren Sproles role. He also had a carry for 18 yards. Cooks is a WR2 while Stills is out, and he might retain startable value in deeper leagues even after Stills returns.

Saints | Kenny Stills out    Sat Sep 6, 03:08 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Footballguys view: We foresee a bump in Brandin Cooks' targets, moving him from a WR4 to a low-end WR3. We still don't know exactly how involved he will be in the offense, but we expect him to see more action than he might have if Stills was there.

Saints | Kenny Stills uncertain to play    Fri Sep 5, 05:18 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Kenny Stills (quadriceps) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 5, and is listed as questionable for Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons. It was the second time Stills was limited in practice this week.

Footballguys view: Stills is more likely to rest because it has been so long since he has been healthy for any length of time. Brandin Cooks' outlook gets better if Stills is out, but if he is in, he probably should be on your bench just in case of re-injury or Stills being rusty.
