Chiefs | Kansas City quickly locks up Frank Clark    Tue Apr 23, 02:17 PM

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs DE Frank Clark agreed to terms on a five-year contract worth $105.5 million - including $63.5 million guaranteed - on Tuesday, April 23. Clark was acquired from the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the day.

Footballguys view: Clark got more than Demarcus Lawrence, which is a mild surprise. Jadeveon Clowney's price just went up, much to Houston's dismay.

Chiefs | K.C. trades for Frank Clark    Tue Apr 23, 01:54 PM

DE Frank Clark was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, April 23, in trade with the Seattle Seahawks. In exchange, Seattle acquired Kansas City's 2019 first-round draft pick and a 2020 second-round selection, according to a source. The teams will also swap 2019 third-round selections.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs effectively dealt Dee Ford and #29 for Frank Clark. Clark is a much better fit in Steve Spagnuolo's 4-3 than Ford, and he's much better vs. the run. The Chiefs are trying to maximize their championship chances during the window of Patrick Mahomes' rookie deal, while the Seahawks are feeling the pain of Russell Wilson's market-setting extension knowing that Bobby Wagner and Jarran Reed also will need new contracts soon. Seattle now has the weakest edge rush group in the league.

Bengals | Adolphus Washington waived    Tue Apr 23, 11:34 AM

Cincinnati Bengals DT Adolphus Washington was waived Tuesday, April 23.

Footballguys view: Washington was a third-round pick in 2016 for Buffalo, but didn't make it to the end of his rookie deal. He should get into another camp, but his time in the league appears to be waning.

Chargers | Joey Bosa's option exercised    Tue Apr 23, 08:25 AM

Los Angeles Chargers DE Joey Bosa's fifth-year option was exercised Tuesday, April 23.

Footballguys view: No surprise here, as he'll still be a value at an average of the top ten salaries at his position. Expect Bosa to be one of the highest paid players in the game soon.

49ers | Quinnen Williams an option at No. 2    Mon Apr 22, 09:28 PM

Alabama DT Quinnen Williams will be under consideration for the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, according to general manager John Lynch.

Footballguys view: Maybe if Nick Bosa is the #1 pick in a shocker, although in that case, Lynch should be on the phone to make a trade down deal with Oakland for Kyler Murray. Nick Bosa seems to be the slam dunk if Murray goes #1 as expected.

Footballguys view: The Jets have the no.3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. A pass rusher should be high on their priority list if they don't trade out of that pick.

Seahawks | First-round pick sought for Frank Clark    Sun Apr 21, 12:11 PM

Seattle Seahawks DE Frank Clark remains under consideration for a trade, and if a deal is struck before the start of the draft Thursday, April 25, Seattle would demand at least a first-round pick in return, according to a league source.

Footballguys view: The Jets and the Bills have been linked to Clark, but both of those teams have top-10 picks in the 2019 NFL draft...so trading those picks (no.3 and no.9 respectively) would not make a lot of sense.

NFL | Montez Sweat will not attend draft    Sat Apr 20, 01:52 PM

Mississippi State DE Montez Sweat was originally scheduled to attend the 2019 NFL Draft but has decided to watch the draft with his family and will not attend, according to sources.

Footballguys view: There are rumblings about medical concerns due to a heart condition with Sweat. Some think he'll still be a top-10 pick, and based on tape that is certainly a good grade for his talent as a pass rusher. IF these medical concerns are true, Sweat might fall out of the first round. There's no need for him to sit there in the green room waiting for his name to be called if that's the case.
