Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson ditches brace    Fri Jun 24, 09:09 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson (leg) shared a video that showed him running without a leg brace, and he remains on track to be ready for the start of the season, if not sooner.

Footballguys view: Wilkerson surprisingly did not draw strong trade interest during the draft, and the continuing recovery of his leg injury could be a reason. With the loss of Damon Harrison in free agency to the Giants, the Jets will need Wilkerson to earn his franchise tag salary of 15.701 million.

Saints | Kyle Wilson placed on IR    Fri Jun 24, 04:54 PM

Cardinals | Corey Peters may start at nose tackle    Thu Jun 23, 05:48 PM

Arizona Cardinals DT Corey Peters (Achilles') is slated to start at nose tackle this season if he is healthy, in the opinion of Darren Urban of azcardinals.com. Head coach Bruce Arians, though, did say Peters would be ready by training camp. DT Rodney Gunter will compete for the spot as well.

Giants | Owa Odighizuwa shines in spring    Thu Jun 23, 01:25 AM

New York Giants DE Owamagbe Odighizuwa worked on the interior of the defensive line during spring practices, working alongside DT Johnathan Hankins in nickel pass-rushing defenses. His role might be similar to how the team used DE-LB Mathias Kiwanuka.

Footballguys view: Odighizuwa is more of a linear power rusher than a bendy speed rusher, so this makes sense. Jason Pierre-Paul should be back to full speed and much more accustomed to using his fireworks-marred hand, and Olivier Vernon will give him the best running mate at defensive end that he has had in a while. The Giants pass rush is getting closer to the glory days of their Super Bowl seasons.

Bills | IK Enemkpali has a big chance    Tue Jun 21, 01:08 AM

Buffalo Bills LB IK Enemkpali has worked with the first-team defense in offseason practice and he might push LB Manny Lawson for a starting job.

Footballguys view: Enemkpali is mainly known as the former Jets player who broke Geno Smith's jaw, but he may have a chance to rush the passer often for the Bills in 2016. During the team's recent minicamp, Enemkpali was getting by blockers with inside and outside pass-rush moves.

Bengals | Brandon Thompson's status uncertain    Mon Jun 20, 01:44 PM

Cincinnati Bengals DT Brandon Thompson (knee) hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season, but he could be a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform list if the team continues to be cautious with his recovery.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson disgruntled    Thu Jun 16, 12:06 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson broke his silence and expressed frustration with the team that he hasn't signed a long-term deal. 'It's shocking. It's frustrating,' Wilkerson told The Post in an exclusive interview. 'Because I feel like I've earned it and I deserve it. It would be different if I was just a mediocre player. I feel like each and every week I'm dominating and it's showing. The stats speak for themselves. Basically, what more do I need to do? You know what I mean?'

Footballguys view: It's hard to be a Jets fan these days. Forget Ryan Fitzpatrick - Jets fans have to be anxious because Mo Wilkerson will not be a Jet in 2017. Luckily, the team is super-deep on the line, but at the end of the day we know Wilkerson is a superlative talent. He'll net a ton on the open market, which is why the cash-strapped Jets can't pay him.

Bills | Buffalo rotates linemen at nose tackle    Wed Jun 15, 02:17 AM

Buffalo Bills DLs Corbin Bryant, Marcell Dareus, Jerel Worthy and Justin Zimmer all saw time at nose tackle in the first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 14. The team has continued to cross-train their defensive linemen, using guys at nose tackle as well as at defensive end for some downs.

Footballguys view: Rob Ryan runs a defense with multiple fronts, so this isn't a shock. On the other hand, Rob Ryan has run multiple defenses into the ground, so you will excuse us if we aren't quite giddy.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson could hold out    Tue Jun 14, 02:59 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson will not sign his franchise tender any time soon. He also may not report for training camp as he continues to wait for a long-term contract, according to sources. Wilkerson is not present for the Jets' mandatory minicamp, but he will not be fined for missing it because he has not signed his tender. He would also not be fined for skipping training camp, if he does so, for the same reason.

Footballguys view: We're expecting him to hold out, and this may spread into the regular season. The Jets have shown absolutely zero interest in signing Wilkerson to a long-term deal, and he does not want to play on the one-year franchise tender. The situation has always been cold throughout the offseason, and we're not looking for things to warm up before the July 15th deadline.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson might not report    Mon Jun 13, 09:57 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson is still unhappy he does not have a long-term contract, and he will not sign his franchise-tag tender anytime soon. As such, he might not report for the start of training camp in late July, sources said Monday. He will skip the team's mandatory minicamp, which starts Tuesday, June 14. Because he hasn't signed his tender, he cannot be fined for not participating in the three-day event.

Footballguys view: The Jets have given no indication that they are willing to give Wilkerson a long-term deal. The two sides have until July 15th to work out a deal, but we're not optimistic that something will get done. After the deadline, then we'll see if Wilkerson is willing to sit out during training camp and perhaps the regular season.

Eagles | Fletcher Cox agrees to new deal    Mon Jun 13, 06:30 PM

Philadelphia Eagles DT Fletcher Cox agreed to a six-year contract extension Monday, June 13, worth $103 million, according to sources. The deal includes $63 million in guaranteed money, which is the highest guarantee for a non-quarterback in NFL history.

Footballguys view: Cox was entering the last year of his rookie contract, and the Eagles pay him a premium to insure that he stays with the team for the foreseeable future. This guaranteed money is going to make it difficult for the Broncos to sign franchise-tagged Von Miller to a new contract as they have originally offered only $39.8 million in full guarantees. Cox can create interior pressure on opposing QBs and is a key member of the Eagles defense.

Bills | Four roster moves made    Mon Jun 13, 03:26 PM

Free-agents DE Leger Douzable (Jets) and OT Chris Martin (49ers) signed with the Buffalo Bills Monday, June 13. DE Claudell Louis and OT Keith Lumpkin were released.

Footballguys view: Douzable is a part-time player who can be a run-stuffer for the Bills. His spot on the 53-man roster is not guaranteed, but he's played under Rex Ryan before and knows what is expected of him.

Bills | Leger Douzable visiting    Mon Jun 13, 12:44 PM

Free-agent DE Leger Douzable (Jets) is visiting with the Buffalo Bills Monday, June 13, according to a source.

Giants | Jason Pierre-Paul used to hand    Mon Jun 6, 03:14 PM

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul (hand) said his right hand will never be completely normal again, but he also said that his hand is normal for him now.

Footballguys view: It's the new normal for Pierre-Paul as he injured his hand last July 4th. He'll wrap it again this year and it shouldn't hinder him that much...especially now that he's used to it.

Texans | J.J. Watt returns to practice    Mon Jun 6, 02:04 PM

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt (groin) returned to practice Monday, June 6, after undergoing groin and core surgery this offseason.

Jets | Muhammed Wilkerson likely won't be extended    Fri Jun 3, 10:11 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson is unlikely to receive a long-term contract extension from the team due to the presence of DE Sheldon Richardson and DL Leonard Williams. Barring a radical concession from the team or Wilkerson's camp, beat writer Manish Mehta predicts there will be no multi-year contract extension.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. This entire season there has been no indication from the Jets side that they wanted to sign Wilkerson long term.

Jets | Muhammad Wilkerson to skip minicamp    Fri Jun 3, 06:16 PM

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson will not participate in the team's upcoming minicamp because of his contract status.

Footballguys view: He has not signed his franchise tender offer at this point and is not required to report for the mandatory minicamp. The team has until July 15 to reach a long-term agreement with Wilkerson. At this time, there is no indication the team wants to sign Wilkerson to a long-term deal.

Bengals | Carlos Dunlap eyes sacks record    Fri Jun 3, 01:57 PM

Cincinnati Bengals DE Carlos Dunlap said his biggest motivation is to break former New York Giants DE Michael Strahan's single-season record of 22 1/2 sacks. 'Along with the team goals, you've got to have your personal goals that will help you obtain the team goal,' Dunlap said. 'My personal goals are to get that sack title at the end of the season, one, and then two, to get Strahan's record.'

Eagles | Darren Sproles to arrive next week    Fri Jun 3, 10:14 AM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles and DT Fletcher Cox are expected to be present at next week's mandatory camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Mandatory minicamp is when all the veterans who have been working out on their own show up. The Eagles RB situation is an interesting one to monitor for fantasy owners. Sproles will play in his usual role, but if Ryan Mathews doesn't stay healthy (a real possibility) then perhaps rookie Wendell Smallwood gets a larger role.

Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') was thrown around during defensive line drills at OTAs Wednesday, June 1.

Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt (groin) said he feels really good and hopes to return to practice soon.

Footballguys view: The Texans are wise to be cautious with their superstar here. The team has built and incredible roster on both sides of the ball and if QB Brock Osweiler doesn't screw it up, the Texans can make a run at the postseason again in 2016.

Dolphins | Miami prepared to welcome Dion Jordan back    Mon May 30, 10:12 PM

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins LB Dion Jordan will apply for reinstatement to the National Football League Wednesday, June 1, and the team has reportedly indicated they're prepared to welcome Jordan back if he's reinstated.

Footballguys view: Getting Jordan back--a motivated (and clean) Jordan--could be a huge boost for the Dolphins defense. He's got great physical potential, but Jordan has yet to fully play up to that potential as a pro. Jordan has been tested twice a week and he has not failed or missed a drug test since he was suspended in April 2015.

Jaguars | Malik Jackson enjoying new role    Sat May 28, 12:40 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars DT Malik Jackson said he is enjoying the freedom he has in head coach Gus Bradley's defense that relies on the three-technique tackle providing constant interior pressure.

Footballguys view: After paying Jackson a $85 million contract, the Jaguars are going to let him loose against the passer. He was a strong edge rusher for the Broncos last year, but his six sacks in 2015 could be doubled this year with his new team.

Oakland Raiders LB Mario Edwards Jr. (neck) is participating in organized team activities Tuesday, May 24, after being medically cleared for football activities earlier this month.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Raiders here. Edwards found out he was dealing with a genetic condition in his neck and a late-season injury last year put his future in the NFL in doubt. Neck injuries are nothing to take lightly, but now Edwards looks like he's ready to rock. The Raiders have the makings of a team who could surprise in 2016.

Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus (foot) is not present for the start of organized team activities Tuesday, May 24, but head coach Rex Ryan is not concerned.

Footballguys view: We learned earlier this year that Dareus had undergone surgery on his broken foot, but he was supposed to be cleared in time for OTAs. Ryan said Dareus has taken part in roughly '90%' of offseason activities and has been a 'fixture.'

Saints | Cameron Jordan awaiting clearance    Sun May 22, 10:28 PM

New Orleans Saints DE Cameron Jordan (back) recently got back into shape following arthroscopic back surgery, but he is still awaiting full clearance to take part in organized team activities.

Footballguys view: The surgery was considered minor, and Jordan reportedly played through this injury late last season and in the Pro Bowl. After having 10 sacks last year, the Saints want to see what Jordan can do for an encore. We imagine he'll be limited (or out) of OTAs and minicamp with a target of returning at full strength for training camp later this summer.

Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') has exceeded expectations in terms of where doctors thought he would be at in his recovery, executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum said Friday, May 20.

Footballguys view: Earlier this month, the Dolphins gave Wake a two-year, $15 million extension and that was a big sign of what they think of his recovery. He'll be a situational player for the Dolphins at this point of his career.
