Texans | Andre Johnson a full participant    Wed Sep 17, 05:28 PM

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Footballguys view: Even with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his quarterback, we like Johnson as a top-10 fantasy receiver in Week 3. The Texans sit atop the AFC South at 2-0, and they face a cellar-dwelling NFC East New York Giants (0-2) in Week 3.

Texans | Arian Foster limited Wednesday    Wed Sep 17, 05:20 PM

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Footballguys view: The Texans may mix in Alfred Blue more in the coming weeks in order to keep Foster fresh. At his current pace, he's going to record over 400 carries this year. That's not going to happen, so expect Foster's workload to be shrunk just a bit.

Texans | Arian Foster post big stat line    Sun Sep 14, 08:53 PM

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders, and he added two receptions for 12 yards. Foster has back-to-back 100-yard rushing games to open the season.

Footballguys view: Foster has looked every bit pf the top 5 level fantasy pick stud workhorse back he has been for most of the last four seasons. With a good defense and schedule, Foster will be an everyweek RB1 as long as he is healthy.

Texans | Alfred Blue sees more action    Sun Sep 14, 08:31 PM

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue carried 11 times for 40 yards in the Week 2 game against the Oakland Raiders, while RB Jonathan Grimes had just three carries for nine yards. Neither player had a reception.

Footballguys view: Blue was in on the game-killing drives, and it's not clear who the right back to own is in the event the Arian Foster goes down. Foster looks good, so it might not be as important as it seemed when the season opened.

Texans | Owen Daniels familiar with system    Fri Sep 12, 06:30 PM

Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels, who has nine catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns in two weeks, said he is very familiar and comfortable with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak's system from their time together with the Houston Texans. 'Coach Kubiak likes to run two tight end sets. We did a decent amount of three tight end sets out there and mixed up formations and personnel groupings. The more a defense has to prepare for, the easier it makes it for us. That was kind of the signature of a Kubiak game plan,' Daniels said.

Texans | Andre Johnson limited in practice    Thu Sep 11, 06:01 PM

Texans | RB Arian Foster fully participates    Thu Sep 11, 05:59 PM

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (ribs) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Texans | Jadeveon Clowney gets surgery    Mon Sep 8, 03:37 PM

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) underwent surgery for a torn lateral meniscus Monday, Sept. 8. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Footballguys view: Bad news for the Texans here. Clowney was set to team up with J.J. Watt to give the team a dangerous pass-rushing duo. Clowney is now the third defensive player taken No. 1 overall to miss any games in his rookie season due to injury. The last was Steve Emtman in 1992.

Texans | Jadeveon Clowney could miss a month    Sun Sep 7, 07:52 PM

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) has a torn lateral meniscus and he might miss four to six weeks as a result of the Week 1 injury. LB Whitney Mercilus will move into the starting lineup in his absence.

Footballguys view: The Texans came out of the gate with a win, but they lost a key piece to their team-defining defense. With the Raiders, Giants, and Bills coming up on the schedule, the Texans could weather the storm against teams that are among the worst passing teams in the league.

Texans | Jadeveon Clowney might have torn meniscus    Sun Sep 7, 07:10 PM

Updating a previous report, the Houston Texans fear LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) suffered a meniscus tear in the Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins that could require arthroscopic surgery, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Clowney came into the league with some medical issues, and he didn't make it through his first regular season game clean. The Texans defense won't be quite as fearsome next week if Clowney is out, but that's ok because they are facing the Raiders.

Texans | O'Brien: Foster 'to play a lot'    Fri Sep 5, 11:08 AM

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster will 'get the bulk of the playing time' in Week 1, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Jonathan Grimes, Alfred Blue and Ronnie Brown will be mixed in for certain situations. It'll be Foster's first game action -- regulation or exhibition -- since his season-ending back injury in 2013.

Footballguys view: If you drafted Foster, there's no reason to have him on your bench. There's a small risk of re-aggravation of a hamstring injury, and we've seen Foster do that before, but the upside against a so-so Washington defense is too good to pass up.

Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz is expected to start at tight end in the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: Garrett Graham is likely out and Fiedorowicz has impressed early in his Texans career. He could be a decent pickup in TE premium and very deep leagues to see if he can seize a large early role with his Week 1 opportunity.

Houston Texans TE Garrett Graham (back) may not play this week with a back injury, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Graham missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 4.

Footballguys view: We're interested to see what O'Brien does with his tight ends in Houston....but we're not rushing out to put them in the lineup. Without Graham, we could see the Texans turn to rookie C.J. Fiedorowicz for more snaps.

Texans | Jadeveon Clowney had a concussion    Thu Sep 4, 01:48 PM

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (concussion) suffered a concussion in the preseason. It took him a week to get through the concussion protocol, but he is fully healthy.

Footballguys view: Head coach Bill O'Brien did a great job keeping that quiet. It sounds like Clowney will be ready to go and across from newly rich JJ Watt, he could feast.

Texans | Ryan Fitzpatrick the starter    Tue Sep 2, 10:49 AM

Houston Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is locked in as the team's starting quarterback. QB Ryan Mallett isn't expected to challenge for the starting spot any time soon, in the opinion of the Houston Chronicle's Brian T. Smith.

Footballguys view: Woo hoo! Err, what's the opposite of that? The Texans have a bad group of quarterbacks...arguably the worst in the league. Fitzpatrick is a seasoned veteran, but we're not excited about his fantasy upside whatsoever. With him under center, it will likely limit the fantasy value of guys like Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins too.

The Houston Texans signed DE J.J. Watt to a new long-term contract Monday, Sept. 1. Watt's extension is a six-year deal worth $100 million, of which $51.876 million is guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: He's worth every penny. Watt is the premiere defensive lineman in the game today, and now he's the highest paid defender in league history. With 36.5 sacks and an amazing 27 pass breakups, the Swatt team never sleeps son. It's wise of the Texans to wrap him up for his prime.
