Texans | Slaton to start in Week 11 Sat Nov 21, 04:06 PM
John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans RB Steve Slaton will start at running back in Week 11.
| Our view: Steve Slaton is too talented to keep off the field, but he needs to keep his fumbling problem under control. The value of Ryan Moats obviously takes a hit here, but he's earned the right to get a few more touches than he was earlier this season. |

Texans | Casey to become big part of offense Wed Nov 18, 01:13 PM
John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans TE James Casey (knee) is expected to become a big part of the team's offense if he is able to play this week. 'If (Casey) comes out today and (Tuesday) fine, I think all systems would be go,' head coach Gary Kubiak said. 'He'll become a big part of what we're doing over the next seven games. We're just trying to get him good and healthy for Monday.'
| Our view: James Casey could be just the remedy the Texans need at the TE position after losing Owen Daniels for the year. He is an extremely versatile player who once played seven different positions during one game in college. Casey plays like a "super sized" wide receiver, and could be used the attack the deep middle of the defense down the seam. |

Texans | Foster signed to active roster Tue Nov 17, 07:42 PM
Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Houston Texans have signed RB Arian Foster from their practice squad to their active roster.
| Our view: The Texans already have Ryan Moats, Steve Slaton, and Chris Brown on the roster but Foster has earned his way into a bigger role. Brown's job could be in danger here because Foster is a big back that generates a lot of power when he runs. He could be plugged in as the short yardage/goalline back right away. |

Texans | Slaton trying to correct fumbling issues Tue Nov 17, 05:06 PM
Drew Dougherty, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans RB Steve Slaton has been trying to fix his fumbling issues. 'I've just talked to old coaches just to get back to where I was before,' Slaton said. 'It's just a problem that's come up now. I just wanted to go back and just get a sense of where I was before. You've just got to put it out of your mind and not think about it too much, but it still has to be there, just to know you've got squeeze it.'
| Our view: Slaton clearly has the talent to be a special back in the NFL, but he has to hold onto the rock if he wants to maximize his potential. We've seen running backs in the past struggle with ball security, only to turn things around. Tiki Barber is a perfect example of a player that had to learn how to secure the ball better before he could really produce on Sundays. Slaton is Tiki-like, and if he stops fumbling he could see his playing time increase as he is easily the most talented the back on the Texans roster. |

Texans | Foster sees increased reps in practice Tue Nov 17, 05:06 PM
Drew Dougherty, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans RB Arian Foster saw his workload increase during practice Tuesday, Nov. 17, and he will be considered as another possibility in the running game.
| Our view: Foster, the power back from Tennessee, runs with a lot of authority and keeps his pads low which makes him harder to tackle. He is a determined runner, and wastes little time building momentum after he gets the ball. Chris Brown hasn't been running as well as the Texans hoped, and Foster could see a few short yardage and goalline carries. |

Texans | Casey expects to play in Week 11 Tue Nov 17, 04:30 PM
Kristie Rieken, of The Associated Press, reports Houston Texans TE James Casey (knee) expects to play in the team's Week 11 game. 'There's no doubt in my mind that I'll play,' Casey said. 'It's going to take something very severe to keep me from playing.' TE Joel Dreessen will likely start against the Tennessee Titans, but the team plans to have Casey more involved in the offense.
| Our view: Casey could be just what the doctor ordered for the Texans tight end corps. While at Rice he showed off his versatility by playing seven positions in one game. He is extremely athletic, and has an aggressive run after the catch ability. |

Texans | J. Casey practices Monday Mon Nov 16, 11:44 PM
Drew Dougherty, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans TE James Casey (foot) returned for the team's practice Monday, Nov. 16.
| Our view: Casey is a good deep sleeper TE for the rest of the season. He caught over 100 passes at Rice last year, and also functioned as a goal line QB. |

Texans | C. Henry, Foster could be elevated to active roster Wed Nov 11, 10:19 AM
John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans have considered elevating RBs Chris J. Henry and Arian Foster from the practice squad to the active roster. 'Yeah, we're watching Chris and (rookie running back) Arian (Foster) every day,' head coach Gary Kubiak said. 'We can activate one of those players any time. It's a topic that comes up. We're discussing a lot of issues as we move forward.'
| Our view: The Texans want to run the ball more effectively, and bringing up Foster or Henry could hurt Chris Brown's limited value as a short yardage runner. |

Texans | Not pursuing L. Johnson Wed Nov 11, 09:54 AM
John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports after evaluating free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Chiefs) for the last two days, the Houston Texans have decided not to pursue him.
| Our view: Yet another team coming out to say they have no interest in the former Chiefs running back. The list of potential teams for Johnson keeps shrinking by the day. |

Texans | Have not ruled out L. Johnson Mon Nov 9, 07:51 PM
The Associated Press reports the Houston Texans have not ruled out free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Chiefs). Head coach Gary Kubiak said, "When a name like that comes on the free agent market like today, we'll obviously go back and take a look at him just like any other player. Obviously, he's been a good player in this league and I'm sure he'll get a lot of interest from a lot of people."

Texans | Schaub throws for 311 yards Week 9 Sun Nov 8, 05:48 PM
The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 32-for-43 for 311 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts.
| Our view: Schaub did everything he had to to send this game to overtime, but Kris Brown missed a makeable field goal as time expired. The Texans started slow, but Schaub came on in the second half and put up very good numbers against one of the best pass defenses in the league. |

Texans | Walter likely to see more passes Sat Nov 7, 08:39 PM
John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Kevin Walter likely will see more passes thrown to him because of the season-ending injury to TE Owen Daniels (knee).
| Our view: Walter didn't do much in the absence of Daniels for most of the game last week, and if he doesn't elevate his game then Jacoby Jones could be more involved as a receiver. The Texans are going to try and see if they can get more production out of their running game with Ryan Moats as the starter, but we all know Matt Schaub runs the show in Houston. Neither Anthony Hill or Joel Dreessen are exciting options at tight end, but when rookie James Casey comes back from his knee injury he could play a Daniels-like role in the offense. |

Texans | Moats to start, Slaton to share carries Sat Nov 7, 04:52 PM
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports that Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that RB Ryan Moats will start vs Indianapolis in week 9 and Steve Slaton will share carries.
| Our view: Moats is the hot pickup right now, but don't be surprised if Slaton equals or tops Moats production on Sunday. He is still the faster and more dangerous player in the open field, and he'll also get more work in the passing game. |
