Houston Texans impending free-agent CB A.J. Bouye is a player the team would like to re-sign, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Footballguys view: Bouye worked his way up the depth chart this season, and he's arguably one of the best corners that will be on the open market in 2017. The Texans may want to keep him, but if some team throws crazy money at Bouye he could move on.

Texans | Brock Osweiler not assured of starting job    Mon Jan 16, 01:04 PM

Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler received a slight but expected vote of non-confidence Monday, Jan. 16, as head coach Bill O'Brien told reporters it is too early to know if Osweiler will be the starting quarterback at season because the team has a lot of evaluating to do.

Footballguys view: Osweiler only got the starting job back because of an injury to Tom Savage. It's an awkward situation, especially since Osweiler won the Wild Card game against the Raiders.

Texans | A.J. Bouye wants to stay in Houston    Mon Jan 16, 12:12 PM

Houston Texans impending free-agent CB A.J. Bouye reiterated that he wants to remain in Houston next season, according to ESPN's Sarah Barshop.

Footballguys view: Bouye is likely the top cornerback on the market this offseason. If the Texans sign him, they'll have to pay a pretty penny. He began the season buried on the depth chart but worked his way up and only allowed two receiving touchdowns in 2016.

Texans | Brock Osweiler regrets lost opportunities    Sun Jan 15, 10:14 PM

Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler said he is disappointed he was unable to capitalize on the opportunities that presented themselves in the AFC Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots.

Footballguys view: Osweiler will get a chance to win the starting job in 2017. After getting benched for Tom Savage late in the 2016 season, there's no guarantee that Osweiler will have the top spot on the depth chart. Head coach Bill O'Brien is returning, and he doesn't seem too keen on Osweiler. Their awkward working relationship will continue with unknown results this next season.

Texans | Will Fuller has support of coach    Sun Jan 15, 07:57 PM

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller dropped a potential touchdown in a 34-16 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 14, but head coach Bill O'Brien said Fuller is only going to improve and the drop wasn't the difference in the game.

Footballguys view: Coming out of college, Fuller was comparable to Panthers WR Ted Ginn -- speed and drops is the name of his game. Fuller's concentration was always something of a concern, but he'll make enough big plays going forward to make up the difference.

Texans | Bill O'Brien will return next season    Sat Jan 14, 12:51 PM

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he will definitely be back with the Texans next season.

Footballguys view: O'Brien may have been on the hot seat before the team's Wild Card game last week. A victory (thanks Brock!) pretty much sealed O'Brien's status with the team. He'll be back in 2017, but there's no guarantee after that. Things haven't been working out for another former Patriots assistant (shocking!), and O'Brien will most certainly be on the hot seat next season.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins limited Thursday    Thu Jan 12, 07:07 PM

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 12.

Footballguys view: Hopkins is limited, but we expect him to go against the Patriots in the Divisional Round. The Texans are a longshot to move on this week, but if they have any chance of beating the Patriots it would likely come with a big week from Hopkins.

Texans | Jadeveon Clowney upgraded to full    Thu Jan 12, 06:36 PM

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (elbow, wrist) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 12, one day after he was only able to register a limited session.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins says knee is fine    Thu Jan 12, 03:36 PM

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) said his injured knee feels excellent.

Footballguys view: Hopkins is a tremendous player held back by an anchor around his neck in the form of Brock Osweiler. He has a chance to go off, but we can't depend on him given how inaccurate Osweiler's performance has been.

Texans | Jaelen Strong undergoes surgery    Wed Jan 11, 02:24 PM

Houston Texans WR Jaelen Strong (ankle) underwent surgery last month but should be ready for offseason workouts.

Footballguys view: Strong has been buried on the depth chart with the Texans selecting two WRs in the 2016 NFL draft (Braxton Miller, Will Fuller). He needs to get healthy, stay healthy and impress next year to get his career on track. In two years, Strong has played in 18 games catches 28 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns.

Texans | Tom Savage cleared    Mon Jan 9, 06:41 PM

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage (concussion) has been cleared from the concussion protocol and will be able to practice this week.

Footballguys view: With Brock Osweiler winning the playoff game against the Raiders, there should be no QB controversy in Houston. If Osweiler struggles against the Patriots, then perhaps Savage could take over in desperation mode.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said his ankle felt good during the Wild Card playing game and did not have any setbacks.

Footballguys view: Redemption is the name of the game for Osweiler...a least a little bit. Benched for Tom Savage, the big-money quarterback played well (for him) against the Raiders and led the Texans to a playoff win at home on Saturday.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller returned from a two-week absence due to an ankle injury and carried 31 times for 73 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card playoff win over the Oakland Raiders.

Footballguys view: We felt Miller would get a heavy workload...and he did. The Texans wanted to keep the ball out of the hands of QB Brock Osweiler by featuring Miller.
