Chiefs | Five catches for Travis Kelce    Mon Jan 16, 01:25 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Travis Kelce had five catches for 77 yards in an 18-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: Kelce did most of his damage early in the game. He was quiet for about two and a half quarters, then he made his presence felt with a personal foul penalty. Kelce's disappearing act certainly didn't help the Chiefs.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill was held to three rushing attempts for 18 yards and four catches for 27 yards in an 18-16 loss Sunday, Jan. 15, to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: Hill is dangerous every time he touches the ball, and the Steelers had their hands full defending him as a runner, receiver and return man. He did get open deep once where QB Alex Smith wasn't able to find him for a play that would've resulted in six.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles wants to keep playing    Tue Jan 10, 01:40 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) stated on his website recently that he wants to continue playing.

Footballguys view: Charles has a $7 million cap number in 2017, and the Chiefs might want to move on with that salary (and no dead money left on the contract). Over the last two years, Charles has only played in eight games. When healthy, Charles still has the speed to gash defenses quickly. He'd get some interest on the open market if the Chiefs release him.

Chiefs | Spencer Ware expected to be full-speed    Mon Jan 9, 01:33 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) should be 'good to go' for the team's Divisional Round matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs can play defense against the high-powered Steelers offense by feeding Ware early and often. They don't want to get into a shootout with Ben Roethlisberger, so we're expecting a slowed down gameplan for Kansas City in the Divisional Round.

Free-agent RB Will Ratelle (Falcons) signed a Reserve/Future deal with the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 7. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Ratelle was a college linebacker but now a fullback in the NFL. At 5'9" 255 pounds, Ratelle can grind out tough yards inside. He should be used mostly as a blocker or receiver out of the backfield with the Chiefs.

Chiefs | KC hoping to extend Andy Reid's contract    Sun Jan 8, 10:23 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs will attempt to extend the contract of head coach Andy Reid during the offseason, according to multiple league sources. He will be entering the final season of a five-year deal in 2017.

Chiefs | Andy Reid raves about Tyreek Hill     Thu Jan 5, 12:54 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill has a unique blend of speed and quickness, according to head coach Andy Reid, and Reid compared Hill to Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson.

Footballguys view: Jackson is a better receiver than Hill, and certainly more polished as a route-runner. Hill was a converted running back from college, so he's still learning the nuances of the wide receiver position. He's certainly the most exciting player on the Chiefs offense at this time, and his role could continue to grow as his game further develops.

Chiefs | Spencer Ware could play Sunday    Sun Jan 1, 09:30 AM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (rib) is hopeful that he will be able to play in Week 17's game against the San Diego Chargers. He was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Ware has a 600,000 dollar incentive that kicks in if he gets 79 yards today and the Chiefs are still playing for a possible division title and bye, so expect to see him, although he could be limited in effectiveness and touches.

Chiefs | Another limited practice for Spencer Ware    Fri Dec 30, 04:27 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (rib) was a limited participant at practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Dec. 30. He is considered questionable to play in the team's Week 17 game Sunday, Jan. 1, versus the San Diego Chargers.

Footballguys view: Not only is he questionable, but Ware is a game-time decision. They could just use a bunch of Charcandrick West against the Chargers no matter Ware's playing status.

  Chiefs | Justin Houston a no-go for Week 17    Fri Dec 30, 02:40 PM

Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston (knee) has been ruled out for Week 17 against the San Diego Chargers.

Chiefs | Spencer Ware to be game-time decision    Fri Dec 30, 02:27 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) will be a game-time decision in Week 17 against the San Diego Chargers, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs are wanting to make a deep playoff run, so rushing Ware into the lineup if he's not ready just isn't going to happen. If he's shut down or just limited, the Chiefs should use more Charcandrick West on Sunday.

Chiefs | Limited practice for Spencer Ware     Thu Dec 29, 06:38 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Footballguys view: We expect to see him in the lineup this Sunday, and the Chargers give up a lot of touchdowns. His ceiling is lower than the top backs because San Diego doesn't give up tons of yards, so his overall value is a bit touchdown dependent.

Chiefs | Justin Houston injury update    Wed Dec 28, 12:46 AM

Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston (knee) is being evaluated 'day by day,' according to head coach Andy Reid, and is expected back once the swelling comes down.

Chiefs | Spencer Ware could have returned Week 16    Mon Dec 26, 01:44 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) could have returned to the team's Week 16 win over the Denver Broncos, but the team chose to be cautious and hold him out.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs pounded the Broncos on the ground, and there was no need to bring Ware back into the contest. They are trying to win the AFC West, and they are certainly building for what they hope is a deep playoff run. Those prospects are greatly helped if Ware is healthy.
