Chiefs | Bradley, Wade to share snaps while Bowe out    Thu Nov 19, 03:36 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Mark Bradley and Bobby Wade will share snaps at receiver while WR Dwayne Bowe is suspended.

Our view: The addition of Chris Chambers looks better and better now that Dwayne Bowe will miss the next four games. In his stead the Chiefs are going to expect more from both Bradley and Wade. Bradley is a better downfield threat, while Wade is the sure handed possession receiver that does little after the catch.

  Chiefs | L. Johnson's depature costly    Tue Nov 17, 02:09 PM

Kent Babb, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs must pay Cincinnati Bengals RB Larry Johnson $2.1 million to finish this season's guaranteed salary after releasing him. Johnson did, however, forfeit $500,000 in roster bonuses he had with the team.

Our view: Babb argues that LJ is the winner in this chain of events, and we can't help but agree with him.

Chiefs | Bowe suspended four games    Tue Nov 17, 01:32 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Tuesday, Nov. 17, that the National Football League has suspended WR Dwayne Bowe for four games for 'violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.' Bowe's suspension will begin immediately.

Our view: Chris Chambers and Mark Bradley gets bumped in value, but Matt Cassel now pilots an offense without a strong weapon in the passing game. A weak Chiefs team just got weaker.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in Week 10. It was the Chiefs' first rushing touchdown of the season.

Our view: Charles split time with Kolby Smith early, but began asserting himself as the game went on. He was quicker and more decisive than Smith and should continue to get the majority of carries moving forward.

Chiefs | Cassel, Chambers working on chemistry     Fri Nov 13, 11:25 AM

Kent Babb, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel and WR Chris Chambers are working on building a chemistry with each other. Chambers said one will come as they work with each other and gain experience.

Our view: Their chemistry looked pretty good last week, although most of Chambers production came in garbage time. We expect Chambers 2 TD performance from last week to be his best game of the season.

Chiefs | K. Smith could start Week 10    Thu Nov 12, 10:40 AM

Kent Babb, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley would not rule out the possibility of RB Kolby Smith starting in Week 10.

Our view: Regardless of who starts we should see both Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith on Sunday. If the Chiefs get down early (as they have a tendency to do) then Charles makes a better option at running back because of his receiving ability and moves in the open field. Smith's main value could be as the team's goal line back.

Chiefs | Likely to use running-back-by committee    Tue Nov 10, 03:24 PM

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs are likely to use a running-back-by-committee with free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Chiefs) gone. The committee will include RBs Kolby Smith, Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage. Charles started and played more snaps in Week 9, but Smith could eventually take more of the workload. The team still appears hesitant to give the ball to Charles in running formations.

Our view: Jamaal Charles is better and more explosive in space, but Kolby Smith is a better runner between the tackles and at the goalline. With the Chiefs playing in catch up mode frequently, it could mean more of Jamaal Charles because of his ability as a receiver out of the backfield.

Chiefs | Running backs get limited opportunities in Week 9    Mon Nov 9, 11:09 AM

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RBs Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith combined to average more than five yards per carry in Week 9. However, the team gave the tandem the football only 10 times during the game. The Chiefs ran a total of 12 running plays, while QB Matt Cassel threw 39 times. The Chiefs' opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars, surprised the team by playing mostly a 4-3 defense during the game. 'It wasn't what we practiced against,' head coach Todd Haley said. 'I thought for the most part we had an idea of what was going on.(The offensive imbalance) was all predicated (on the defense). On a lot of our runs, there was a lot of pressure coming. They were bringing safeties from both edges, run blitzes we call them.'

Chiefs | L. Johnson released    Mon Nov 9, 10:35 AM

NFL.com reports the Kansas City Chiefs have released RB Larry Johnson.

Our view: Not a surprise here as the writing was on the wall for Larry Johnson. The Chiefs are going to move forward with Jamaal Charles, Kolby Smith, and Dantrell Savage at running back. They may have a few good games on the ground, but the team gets behind early and often so abandoning the running game is an almost weekly occurrence. We'll see if any team in the NFL is willing to pick up Larry Johnson at this time.

Chiefs | Charles, K. Smith combine for 10 carries Week 9    Sun Nov 8, 04:42 PM

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles rushed for 36 yards on six carries in Week 9 while RB Kolby Smith rushed for 17 yards on four carries in the game.

Our view: The Chiefs seemed to abandon the run without Larry Johnson in the lineup.

Chiefs | Chambers catches two TDs in debut    Sun Nov 8, 04:39 PM

Chiefs | Engram waived    Sat Nov 7, 06:42 PM

Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have waived WR Bobby Engram.

Our view: When the Chiefs activated Kolby Smith off the PUP they had to let a player go, and that player was Engram. He never really fit in Todd Haley's offense, and with the addition of Chris Chambers the team felt he was expendable.

Chiefs | K. Smith activated from PUP list    Sat Nov 7, 05:45 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced they have activated RB Kolby Smith (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Our view: Word is the Chiefs are going to bring him along slowly as he comes back from his knee injury. However, if Jamaal Charles continues to have fumbling problems then we could see more of Smith than anyone is expecting. Smith isn't as explosive as Charles, but he is a better runner between the tackles.
