Steelers | Markus Wheaton working through pain    Fri Sep 30, 03:08 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) is still dealing with discomfort from the AC joint injury that cost him the first two weeks of the season.

Footballguys view: Wheaton dropped a touchdown last week and was a non-factor. With Eli Rogers out because of turf toe, Wheaton should get more playing time this week, but he's still not clearly worth a roster spot in typical leagues.

Steelers | Ryan Shazier ruled out for Week 4    Fri Sep 30, 02:19 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers LB Ryan Shazier (knee) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: The Steelers most talented player on defense is out for this week. The screen game that ate them up vs. the Eagles could be used a lot by the Chiefs, exposing the loss of Shazier's range. Travis Kelce and Spencer Ware should both benefit from this absence.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell in good condition    Tue Sep 27, 09:00 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's conditioning isn't a concern to head coach Mike Tomlin. 'We have seen him every day, he has been a part of us, and he has been in the building,' Tomlin said. 'He is up to speed on what we are doing from a schematic standpoint and really in tune there.'

Footballguys view: Good news for the star back here. The Steelers offense needs more punch, and Bell should be able to provide that. He's in good shape right now, but it will be a couple of weeks before he's in football shape. Bell is a RB1 immediately upon his return this week against the Chiefs. DeAngelo Williams goes back to being the backup. We like Williams as a 'what the heck' flex going forward with Bell in the lineup.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to be featured upon return    Tue Sep 27, 01:05 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell can expect to see a heavy workload in his season debut in Week 4 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Footballguys view: In other obvious news -- water is wet. Fantasy owners have been waiting patiently for Bell to return from his three-game suspension, and this week they get to see him in action. He's a plug-and-play RB1 in Week 4.

Steelers | Eli Rogers in a walking boot    Tue Sep 27, 12:45 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Eli Rogers (toe) was spotted wearing a walking boot on his left foot Tuesday, Sept. 27. Rogers injured himself roughly midway through the team's Week 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Looks like Rogers is going to miss some time. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is calling him 'very questionable' for Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell back in action    Mon Sep 26, 10:19 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will return from his three-game suspension in Week 4.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Steelers here. Getting Bell back will help a lethargic offense that failed to score a TD in Week 3 against the Eagles. Bell will lead the way on the ground, but he's also a fantastic receiver out of the backfield. It will be interesting to see the role of DeAngelo Williams now that Bell is back.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton will share snaps    Sat Sep 24, 12:16 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) is set to return from a sprained right shoulder in Week 3 versus the Philadelphia Eagles, but he will do so in a timeshare with Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Footballguys view: Wheaton was on track to return last week, but the team decided to give him some more rest. In his first action this season, we can't yet trust Wheaton -- even as a what the heck flex. The split between these three WRs (Wheaton, Coates, Heyward-Bey) will negatively impact their fantasy value.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton a full participant    Thu Sep 22, 10:44 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Steelers | Jesse James staying on the field    Thu Sep 22, 12:56 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James has been on the field for every offensive snap over the first two weeks of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Now if he can only start producing. He should be ok for TE2 numbers this weekend against the Eagles, but this is still an Antonio Brown/DeAngelo Williams show.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton ready to return?    Wed Sep 21, 01:47 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) looks 'ready to go,' according to head coach Mike Tomlin, though Tomlin indicated that Wheaton's participation in practice leading up to Week 3 would determine his availability.

Footballguys view: He looked ready to go last week but didn't play. When he returns, Wheaton is going to cut into the fantasy value of guys like Sammie Coates and Eli Rogers.

Steelers | Brandon Brown-Dukes signed by Steelers    Tue Sep 20, 10:33 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed RB Brandon Brown-Dukes to the team's practice squad on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Footballguys view: The Steelers signed Brown-Dukes after rookie tryouts as a UDFA out of Mercyhurst. He carried the ball six times for seven yards in the preseason and did not make the cut. Brown-Dukes did impress in practice during training camp and now joins fellow RB David Cobb on the Steelers practice squad.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton out Sunday    Sun Sep 18, 11:37 AM

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) will not play in Week 2's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He is expected to need another week to recover.

Footballguys view: Eli Rogers could get a few more targets and deserves WR3/Flex consideration in deep PPR leagues. Sammie Coates will get more run and might carve out a larger role for the season if he can impress today.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton questionable for Week 2    Fri Sep 16, 04:15 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Wheaton might not be ready to go this week after missing the season opener. He's not a great play with his shoulder issue, but if he sits, Sammie Coates might be worth an upside desperation play as a deep ball receiver in a pass-heavy offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers LB Ryan Shazier (knee) is planning to play in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also said the tight officiating in the rivalry game won't affect him. 'I'm going to play the same way I play,' Shazier said. 'The NFL can do what they want.'

Steelers | Markus Wheaton a full participant     Thu Sep 15, 08:30 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Steelers | Another big line for Antonio Brown?    Thu Sep 15, 01:54 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown will play the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, and generally that's good news for the receiver. He has been targeted 48 times in his past four games against the Bengals, posting 29 receptions for 379 yards with two touchdowns. He has at least five catches in eight straight outings against Cincinnati.

Footballguys view: There's no stopping Brown--you can't even hope to contain him. Brown will light things up and even if he doesn't reach the 126 yards and two touchdowns from last week, he's going to get somewhere around 100 yards and a touchdown, making him a lock for a WR1 fantasy slot.

Steelers | Big Ben to struggle in Week 2?    Thu Sep 15, 01:53 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Last season he completed 58 of his 84 pass attempts for 544 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in two regular season games against the Bengals.

Footballguys view: We like Roethlisberger quite a bit, and would start him without question against the Bengals shaky pass defense. While they shut down Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets passing offense, Roethlisberger is a much better quarterback and he has weapons like Antonio Brown.
