Steelers | Pittsburgh fielding Le'Veon Bell trade offers    Sun Sep 23, 12:58 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is being inquired about by teams pitching trade offers, and the Steelers are listening, league sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday, Sept. 23.

Footballguys view: The Steelers seem ready to go forward with James Conner. They will get a compensatory third for Bell as he enters unrestricted free agency next year if they don't trade him, so a team will need to make a strong offer to convince the Steelers to move him.

Steelers | Joe Haden expected to play    Wed Sep 19, 10:14 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Joe Haden (hamstring) is making good progress in his recovery and should be able to play in Week 3.

Footballguys view: The Steelers secondary will need all hands on deck in the attempt to slow down Fitzmagic. Haden will be tested often against the deep wide receiver group.

Steelers | Antonio Brown will be in attendance    Wed Sep 19, 08:55 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is expected to be in the facility Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Footballguys view: Brown missed practice on Monday due to a personal reason...at least that's what his agent says. Mike Tomlin has met with Brown and it seems like they're on the same page. This added drama doesn't help a team that hasn't won a game and is still dealing with their superstar running back holding out. The Steelers travel to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers for Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster staying busy inside 20    Tue Sep 18, 09:09 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster leads the NFL with eight red zone targets through two weeks.

Footballguys view: Smith-Schuster has scored the 7th-most fantasy points in standard scoring leagues after two games. He's done that with only one receiving touchdown so far. If he continues to get this much work in the red zone, Smith-Schuster will get more touchdowns and more points. Most Fantasy GMs can start Smith-Schuster as a WR2 even though he's posting WR1 numbers.

Steelers | Antonio Brown's agent downplays issues    Tue Sep 18, 01:38 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown's agent Drew Rosenhaus released a statement Tuesday, Sept. 19, explaining his client's recent actions, including a 'trade me' tweet and missing team meetings Monday, Sept. 17. 'The tweet yesterday was not in reference to anything other than Antonio responding to a person he knows,' Rosenhaus said in his statement. 'It was not directed towards a trade, or wanting to be traded. Any idea he was asking for a trade is not accurate. Antonio had a personal matter. I talked to the team about it. His issue was unrelated to the tweet or his relationship with the team. Third, AB has an incredible drive to win. He just wants to win. That's all that that is. That's not anything more than him encouraging his coaches and teammates to win. And that's what his entire focus is on. Any notion, any speculation otherwise, can be put to bed. This is a non-story that has been blown out of proportion. We can end this right here and now.'

Footballguys view: How about the Steelers get a win? This drama surrounding the Steelers is quite the distraction for a team who wants to think of themselves as a Super Bowl contender. Brown needs to stay healthy and perform like the WR1 (and perhaps first-round pick) that Fantasy GMs know he can be. We'll see if the Steelers dial back on the drama and get it done on the road against the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Steelers | Antonio Brown, coach to meet    Tue Sep 18, 12:19 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown was absent from team meetings and film review Monday, Sept. 17, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday, Sept. 18, but did not say whether the absence was excused or not. As for Brown's 'trade me' tweet Monday, Tomlin said, '(I'm) not going to talk about much social media. I'll address that with him. I'll leave that between he and I.'

Footballguys view: The Steelers have a ton of talent but no wins to show for it. Browns wants the ball more but defenses are working hard to take him away and Ben Roethlisberger is going elsewhere with the ball...mainly to JuJu Smith-Schuster. We'll see if all this stuff can be ironed out as the Steelers travel to play the Buccaneers on Monday night in Week 3. Brown is obviously a WR1 for Fantasy GMs despite the drama.

Steelers | Antonio Brown posts nine catches    Sun Sep 16, 06:56 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown snagged nine receptions for 67 yards on 17 targets in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: Brown had a calf injury in the game. He might be able to play through it and it's impossible to bench him, but we might want to lower expectations for him in upcoming weeks.

Steelers | JuJu Smith-Schuster posts 13 grabs in loss    Sun Sep 16, 06:52 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster racked up 13 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown on a game-high 19 targets in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: With Antonio Brown slowed down, Smith-Schuster was the #1 receiver for the offense. He might have that status next week at Tampa and is looking like a hit at his ADP.

Steelers | Jesse James has giant stat line    Sun Sep 16, 06:47 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James posted five receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown on five targets in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: James was basically left uncovered by the Chiefs more than once. He's still an underwhelming play, but with the wide-open nature of Chiefs game scripts, we learned about playing tight ends against them (that's George Kittle next week), although Vance McDonald could still muddy the picture here.

Steelers | James Conner takes step back in Week 2    Sun Sep 16, 06:44 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner rushed eight times for 17 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs while adding five grabs for 48 yards.

Footballguys view: Conner never had a chance to establish the run because the Chiefs jumped out to a 21-0 lead. He salavaged a good fantasy day with a score, two-point conversion, and five catches. His ceiling and floor are in full view heading into a matchup against the Bucs, and they point towards RB1 status.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger totals four scores    Sun Sep 16, 06:41 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 39-of-60 pass attempts for 452 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 2 loss against the Chiefs and he added a rushing score.

Footballguys view: Roethlisberger had the kind of field day we should expect against the Chiefs this year. Home Ben was back and he might have been able to hang with Mahomes if his defense had been better. Roethlisberger will be a boom/bust start at Tampa Bay next week.

Steelers | Vance McDonald likely to play    Sun Sep 16, 09:40 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (foot) is expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: McDonald could be rusty, but this matchup has the makings of one that lifts marginal plays to difference makers. He's in streaming tight end consideration.

Steelers | Two Pittsburgh players ruled out    Sun Sep 16, 09:32 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Joe Haden (hamstring) and OG David DeCastro (hand) will not play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. Both players had been listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Footballguys view: The Steelers will have to use a backup corner against one of the best passing games in the league. That is less than ideal.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger will play    Sat Sep 15, 12:20 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) will be able to play in Week 2, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Of course he'll play. Roethlisberger almost always has nagging injuries and can still go out there and perform at a high level. Last week against the Browns was pathetic, but that was 'road Ben.' This week in Pittsburgh, we get to see 'home Ben' against the Chiefs. He's a low-end QB1 option for Fantasy GMs.

Steelers | Week 2 injury report for Steelers    Fri Sep 14, 04:23 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers OG David DeCastro (hand) and CB Joe Haden (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 14, and are listed as doubtful for Week 2. DE Tyson Alualu (shoulder) was limited during practice and is listed as doubtful. CB Artie Burns (toe) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. DE Cameron Heyward (knee) fully participated in practice but is listed as questionable.

Footballguys view: The Steelers really need Haden this week against Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins. This makes Patrick Mahomes an even better play in Week 2.

Steelers | Questionable tag for Vance McDonald    Fri Sep 14, 04:19 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 14, but is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Footballguys view: McDonald is a risky play in his first week back, but the tight end position is very thin and he's still a viable play in deeper leagues.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger listed as questionable    Fri Sep 14, 04:17 PM

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 14, but is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Roethlisberger should play in what promises to be one of the highest-scoring games of Week 2. He's a top five quarterback play in this matchup at home.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger sits again    Thu Sep 13, 03:53 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 13.

Footballguys view: We aren't worried about this and don't expect a repeat of last week's three pick marathom. He should play and be a top option in fantasy this week.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger rests on Wednesday    Wed Sep 12, 06:35 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 12, as he rested his right elbow injury. 'It just got hit,' Roethlisberger said of the elbow. 'It's bruised. It will be fine.'

Footballguys view: Sounds like a day of rest for the veteran. We get 'home Ben' this week instead of 'road Ben' like last week (ugh). That means Roethlisberger could post low-end QB1 numbers for Fantasy GMs in Week 2.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell still absent    Wed Sep 12, 08:41 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell remains absent from the facility Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: There has been speculation that Bell could report by the end of the month. That's optimistic for sure because at this point things seem pretty dire. Bell was taken off the Steelers depth chart on Monday and this holdout looks like there's no end in sight. James Conner is in line to start against for the Steelers in Bell's absence. At home against the Chiefs in Week 2, Conner should post borderline RB1 numbers.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger has sore elbow    Tue Sep 11, 03:15 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) is dealing with a sore elbow, head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: There's always something with Roethlisberger, but he's tough and usually plays through nagging stuff like this. The issue cropped up in the Week 1 tie with the Cleveland Browns but isn't believed to be serious. Watch his participation level during the week of practice. We imagine Roethlisberger will be limited with perhaps a full participation on Friday.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell removed from depth chart    Tue Sep 11, 03:02 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was removed from the team's Week 2 depth chart on Tuesday, Sept. 11, with a 'has not signed franchise tender' denotation as his holdout continues. Bell remains listed on the team's roster.

Footballguys view: It's just not good. After a strong performance from James Conner in Week 1 (135 yards rushing), some felt that would prompt Bell to show up. That's not the case and things look dire at this time. There is speculation that Bell could show up by the end of September. Stay tuned.
