Footballguys view: The Steelers are looking for tight end help with Jesse James (Lions) moving on in free agency. O'Shaughnessy appeared in 14 games last year with the Jaguars and caught a career-high 24 passes for 214 receiving yards. He's not much of a threat to Vance McDonald's playing time if the Steelers do add him.

Steelers | Pittsburgh interested in Tyrell Williams    Tue Mar 12, 12:26 PM

Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent WR Tyrell Williams has received interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: That makes sense as the Steelers are looking for wide receiver talent after trading away Antonio Brown to the Raiders. Williams has been looking for a larger role and could be the Steelers no.2 wideout opposite JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2019. His addition would be bad news for James Washington's dynasty stock.

Steelers | JuJu Smith Schuster the new No. 1    Sun Mar 10, 12:35 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster tweeted 'I'm ready' Sunday, March 10, the morning following teammate Antonio Brown's trade to the Oakland Raiders.

Footballguys view: Smith-Schuster is ready...and fantasy GMs know what he can do with a large role. In 2018, Smith-Schuster had more yards (1,426) and catches (111) than Brown, but he only had seven touchdowns while Brown had a whopping 15. Projecting over 100 catches, well over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns is not outlandish for Smith-Schuster in 2019.

Footballguys view: Earlier reports indicated the Steelers might keep James around. More recently, the tone has changed and now it looks like James could move on. He's not a 'first wave' free agent but should find a home in the second wave next week sometime.

Steelers | Antonio Brown says he doesn't need football    Sat Mar 2, 07:43 PM

Updating an ongoing story, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown told ESPN's Jeff Darlington in a televised interview Saturday, March 2, he didn't need football, and the Steelers must play by his rules in their current feud. 'I don't even have to play football if I don't want, bro,' Brown said. 'I don't even need the game. I don't need to prove nothing to anyone. If they're going to play, they're going to play by my rules.' He discussed his frustration with QB Ben Roethlisberger, 'If I'm your guy, make me know that I'm your guy,' Brown said. 'Don't say I'm your guy and then point fingers.' Brown noted he and Big Ben have not trained together and are not close off of the field.

Footballguys view: Brown isn't doing himself any favors. Any team that trades for him is going to want to know that he's completely dialed in. We'll see if the Steelers can move Brown for a good return in the near future.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown has garnered increased trade interest, and the team would prefer to trade him out of the division but aren't ruling that out, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Footballguys view: It's an interesting change of sentiment coming from the Steelers camp. Originally it was reported that they would not trade Brown in their division, then it became they won't trade him within the conference....and now all options are open. Either the Steelers aren't getting a lot of interest on the trade market or they're just trying to drum up more interest.

Steelers | Philly interests Le'Veon Bell    Sun Feb 24, 12:08 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB and pending free-agent Le'Veon Bell on Saturday, Feb. 23, hinted at an interest in signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on Twitter.

Footballguys view: The Eagles have a need at the position, and Bell would be a huge upgrade for the Eagles offense. Bell will be sought after by multiple teams, including the Eagles...if they can afford him. At this time, per OverTheCap.com, the Eagles only have $2 million in cap space.

Steelers | DeSean Jackson to Pittsburgh plausible    Sat Feb 23, 08:04 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson is disgruntled with his current team and wants to play elsewhere. Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds opines that trading Jackson to the Pittsburgh Steelers makes sense as Jackson wants out and the Steelers will likely need to replace WR Antonio Brown.

Footballguys view: The Steelers will be in the market for a wide receiver, whether that's via trade, free agency or the draft. With the $21 million cap hit the Steelers have to take when trading away Brown, perhaps going with a cheaper option (rookie) would be for the best.

Steelers | Jesse James staying in Pittsburgh?    Fri Feb 22, 09:26 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James is likely to receive an extension this offseason, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Footballguys view: James will be sought after if he hits the open market. Not really because his production has been off the charts, but there's just not that many quality TEs in free agency this year. We'll see if the Steelers can work out something with him before the new league year begins on March 13th.

Steelers | Trainer refutes Le'Veon Bell's weight gain    Fri Feb 22, 01:46 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's trainer shot down reports that Bell ballooned to as much as 260 pounds during the 2018 season, calling such assertions 'ridiculous' and 'laughable.'

Footballguys view: Reports indicated the 'word on the street' was that Bell had gained a lot of weight. His trainer takes issues with those rumblings. Either way, we're sure Bell will be able to get into shape quickly. The trainer also told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that Bell will follow the same plan this year as they have every other year since the running back came out of college in 2013.

Steelers | Antonio Brown trade not guaranteed    Wed Feb 20, 07:06 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown will only be traded if the team receives a significant offer in return, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Footballguys view: The trade is going to come with a lot of salary cap ramifications for the Steelers as they'll have to eat $21 million in dead money. Colbert said the team will keep Brown's agent up to date during trade negotiations but will not allow Brown to talk with other teams.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell will not be tagged    Wed Feb 20, 01:30 PM

Updating an ongoing saga, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will not be the recipient of the transition tag, according to general manager Kevin Colbert, Wednesday, Feb. 20. Bell will hit the open market in March.

Footballguys view: Colbert put to bed any speculation that the team would transition tag Bell, citing a lack of space in the salary cap and how the team already is set at the position with James Conner and Jaylen Samuels. Bell will hit the open market free and clear....and he should have quite a bit of interest from teams.
