Cowboys | Training camp signifies Tony Romo deadline    Tue Mar 28, 08:12 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo will know his fate by training camp at the latest, according to owner Jerry Jones. Jones said he has talked to Romo in the last couple of days, saying the veteran quarterback 'has options.'

Footballguys view: Rumors are circulating that the relationship between Jones and Romo is fractured, and there would be good reason for that with the way Jones went back on his 'do right deal' with the veteran quarterback. It sounds like the Broncos are out of the Romo sweepstakes, leaving only the Texans as the team most likely to sign him if/when released.

Footballguys view: No details on the contract just yet, but it likely lowers his cap number ($12.2 million) this year. He'll continue to be a reliable target in the passing game who could snare 60 passes or so with a small amount of TDs in 2017.

Cowboys | Tony Romo's situation may drag on    Mon Mar 27, 06:42 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo's status with the Cowboys may not be resolved until after the 2017 NFL Draft, in the opinion on NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys don't seem to be in a hurry to release Romo. They're not going to get anything via trade, so releasing him is the only option. The Texans may be his most likely destination at this point.

Cowboys | Dallas to work out Tarell Basham    Sun Mar 26, 05:46 PM

Ohio DE Tarell Basham is scheduled to work out for the Dallas Cowboys before the 2017 NFL draft.

Footballguys view: Basham has the makings of an impact pro. With long arms and strong hands, Basham finds his way to the ball quickly and can be quite disruptive when he gets there. Basham is scheme versatile and can play in a 4-3 or a 3-4 lineup. He's likely to be a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden re-signed to a one-year deal Thursday, March 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is not expected to be traded, according to league sources, and Dallas is not willing to trade Romo somewhere he doesn't want to play.

Footballguys view: The "Do Right Rule" is likely back in effect for the Cowboys. Jerry Jones has said that he would release Romo, then he went back on his word and tried to trade Romo at the start of free agency. Neither the Broncos or the Texans are likely to give up a pick or a player for Romo, so we should see him hit the street in the near future.

Free-agent WR Terrance Williams (Cowboys) agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys Friday, March 10, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Williams sticks with the Cowboys, but we're not seeing him as a viable fantasy option. He's flashed at times as a pro (eight touchdowns in 2014, 840 receiving yards in 2015) but Williams has never seemed to put it all together in one season.

Cowboys | David Njoku met with Dallas    Sun Mar 5, 09:30 PM

Miami (Fla.) TE David Njoku said he met with the Dallas Cowboys during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Njoku is arguably the 2nd-best TE in the best TE class in NFL history. He's a playmaker who can work in line, out wide or from the slot. Njoku should be a first-round pick, but it may be late in the first round right around where the Cowboys pick (28th).

Cowboys | Dallas meets briefly with O.J. Howard    Sun Mar 5, 09:26 PM

Alabama TE O.J. Howard met informally with Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach Steve Loney, but no formal meeting is planned at this time.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys could use a TE of the future behind Jason Witten. Howard is the best TE in what is the best TE class in NFL history. He's a first-round pick and should be off the board before the Cowboys pick. If they want him, they'll have to move up from 28th overall.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott's work ethic is Peyton Manning-like, according to owner Jerry Jones, and Jones said he expects 'dramatic improvement' from Prescott in 2017.

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he has not ruled out the possibility of keeping QB Tony Romo on the roster.

Footballguys view: That's a possibility, but it's more likely just Jones trying to ramp up any trade interest for Romo. We feel they'll eventually release him and let the feeding frenzy begin. The Texans and Broncos have to be considered front-runners for his services.

Cowboys | Tony Romo drawing interest from Rams, 49ers    Fri Mar 3, 01:15 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo appears the most interested in joining the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs or Denver Broncos should he get released, but CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora is reporting the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are 'doing work' on the veteran quarterback and could emerge as viable candidates for his services.

Footballguys view: The 49ers make some sense as they don't have a starting quarterback on the roster. The Rams would be a little surprising given the fact they selected Jared Goff with the no.1 overall pick last year. At this time, we have to consider the Broncos as the front-runners for Romo's services.
