Dallas Cowboys LB Sean Lee is considered a strong candidate to be cut this offseason, in the opinion of NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.

Footballguys view: Lee's extensive injury history, $10 million cap hit and the presence of fellow LBs Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith don't bode well for a possible return.

Cowboys | Does Dak Prescott really need to run more?    Sun Feb 10, 01:24 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott ranked ninth among quarterbacks with 305 rushing yards in 2018, and many have clamored for Prescott to run even more. But Super Bowl history shows having a strong rushing QBs may not be the formula for ultimate team success. In 53 seasons, only three Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have had 300-yard rushing seasons during their title-winning campaigns.

Footballguys view: Prescott has the ability to do more with his feet, but ultimately he's going to have to continue winning from the pocket. We'll see if the Cowboys work to put better weapons around him in 2019.

Cowboys | Dak Prescott seeking extension    Fri Feb 8, 12:58 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is seeking a contract extension this offseason as he enters the final year of his four-year rookie deal in 2019. 'I think the team knows how to pay what's deserved,' Prescott said last week before Super Bowl LIII, 'and pay those other people at the same time what's deserved without being frugal.'

Footballguys view: Prescott is set to get paid for 2020 and beyond. The Cowboys are in a playoff window with Prescott and they've got quality weapons around him like Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper. We'll see if the team wants to get Prescott done sooner rather than later.

Cowboys | Dallas brings back Reggie Davis    Thu Feb 7, 05:42 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Davis (Cowboys) signed with the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Feb. 7. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Davis was originally an undrafted free agent out of Georgia in 2017. The Cowboys are the fourth team the speedy wide receiver has been with since that time. We'll see if he can do enough this offseason and in training camp to make the 53-man roster or if he'll have to make it on the practice squad.

The Dallas Cowboys could be interested in Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries if WR Cole Beasley departs in free agency, according to the Dallas Morning News' John Owning, who believes Humphries could fill the slot role at a reasonable price.

Footballguys view: Humphries and Beasley have similar skillsets, but Humphries is four years younger. Chances are Humphries will come with a higher price tag, but both could be coveted with slot receiver becoming a more important position in 21st century NFL offenses.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott considering a holdout?    Mon Jan 28, 08:37 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott may consider skipping offseason workouts if he does not receive a contract extension this offseason, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Elliott sees the writing on the wall regarding running back pay in the NFL. He's smart to try to get the money he earned with strong play on a rookie contract now instead of risking a catastrophic injury that lowers what will likely be the biggest payday of his career.

Cowboys | DeMarcus Lawrence may hold out if tagged    Mon Jan 28, 08:34 PM

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent DE DeMarcus Lawrence may consider skipping offseason workouts and training camp if he receives the franchise tag again this season, according to sources.

Cowboys | DeMarcus Lawrence to have surgery    Wed Jan 23, 09:24 PM

Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) said will undergo shoulder surgery at some point this offseason.

Footballguys view: Reports indicate Lawrence has been playing with a torn labrum for two years. He is waiting to hear from his doctor as to when the surgery can be planned. Lawrence says 'he loves to be a Cowboy' and it's a good bet he sticks in Dallas...for an inflated price. He played under the franchise tag in 2018.

Cowboys | Cole Beasley vents about role    Tue Jan 22, 05:13 PM

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR Cole Beasley claimed Tuesday, Jan. 22, that the Dallas front office encourages the coaching staff to get the football to certain players. 'I haven't been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I'm not sure,' Beasley said.

Footballguys view: Coming off a 65-catch season in 2018, there should be more than a few teams interested in Beasley. He doesn't sound like a guy who wants to stay in Dallas.

Cowboys | DeMarcus Lawrence could receive tag    Mon Jan 21, 10:23 PM

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent DE DeMarcus Lawrence could receive the franchise tag this offseason if he is not able to agree to a long-term contract with the Cowboys.

Footballguys view: A second-round pick for the Cowboys in the 2014 NFL draft, Lawrence played for Dallas on the franchise tag in 2018 and earned around $17.1 million. Resigning Lawrence is their top priority this offseason. A second franchise tag would be expensive without locking him up with a long-term deal.

Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott a more complete back    Sat Jan 19, 11:30 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's 77 catches in 2018 ranked 22nd in the NFL and were the fifth most among running backs.

Cowboys | Blake Jarwin flashes late in year    Sat Jan 19, 09:18 PM

Dallas Cowboys TE Blake Jarwin had at least four catches and 40 yards in three of his final four regular season games, and he had 20 of his 27 catches and 228 of his 307 receiving yards during that stretch.

Footballguys view: Dynasty GMs need to monitor Jarwin or just pick him up if roster space is deep enough. This is especially important in TE premium leagues. No word on who is going to run the Cowboys offense just yet, but Jarwin has good chemistry with Dark Prescott and has TE2 upside.

Cowboys | Devin Smith receives futures deal    Fri Jan 18, 04:08 PM

The Dallas Cowboys signed WR Devin Smith to a Reserve/Futures contract Friday, Jan. 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Smith was a second-round pick for the Jets out of Ohio State in 2015, but injuries derailed his career. He's only played in 14 games as a pro and was out of the league in 2018. Smith will be hard pressed to make the 53-man roster for the Cowboys.

Footballguys view: Measuring in at 6'1" 235 pounds, Chunn is a big back to monitor in crazy deep dynasty leagues. While in college at Troy he showed the ability to handle a large workload and a big nose for the end zone (47 rushing TDs in college). He's actually a better receiver than some think a big man would be (84 receptions for Troy).

Cowboys | Scott Linehan likely to return    Mon Jan 14, 09:53 AM

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is likely to return for 2019, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

Now, the Cowboys are making a postseason run and Garrett is seen as their coach for the long term. Garrett has been the Cowboys head coach since 2011.
