Cowboys | Work out several players    Fri May 22, 06:14 PM

Free-agent WR A.J. Jenkins (Chiefs), WR Kris Durham (Titans), WR Tommy Streeter (Jaguars), WR B.J. Cunningham (Bears) and RB Ronnie Wingo (Falcons) worked out for the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, May 21.

Footballguys view: We've always kept tabs on Cunningham in super deep dynasty leagues as he's bounced around the league. He's the best player on this list in our opinion, and the Cowboys did not sign him (or anyone from this group).

Cowboys | Sean Lee likely to take part in practice    Fri May 22, 06:04 PM

Dallas Cowboys LB Sean Lee (knee) has been cleared to practice and is expected to participate in organized team activities next week.

Footballguys view: Getting Lee back on the field could provide a huge boost for the Cowboys defense. We'll see the Cowboys ease Lee back into action as he gets back into the swing of things.

Cowboys | Dallas unlikely to add Ray Rice    Fri May 22, 11:31 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) could be a consideration for the Dallas Cowboys in free agency, speculates The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota. He cites Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones' willingness to give players a second chance and Dallas' continued search for running back depth. However, Machota notes the chance of Dallas pursuing Rice is unlikely due to Rice's time away from the game, drastic on-field decline in 2013, and Jones having to eventually draw a line in the sand with forgiving off-field incidents.

Footballguys view: We believe Dallas could be a landing spot for Rice, but there's certainly a lot to work through. Rice did have a down 2013, but fantasy owners need to realize that he looked like the player he used to be during the 2014 preseason. Rice averaged 7.6 yards per carry over two preseason games. The time away could help his body heal, and Rice could be the best option on the open market.

Cowboys | Felix Jones to work out    Thu May 21, 11:45 AM

Free-agent RB Felix Jones (Steelers) is working out for the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, May 21.

Footballguys view: With oft-injured Darren McFadden the lead back, the Cowboys are looking to make sure they have enough backups. Jones is coming off of some staggeringly mediocre seasons with Dallas and Pittsburgh, so it's tough to see him having much impact with the Cowboys. If added, Jones would be reunited with McFadden, his former college teammate at Arkansas. Just add Peyton Hillis and you'll have the trio of Razorback teammates.

Cowboys | Ben Tate working out for Dallas    Thu May 21, 09:42 AM

Free-agent RB Ben Tate (Steelers) is working out for the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, May 21.

Footballguys view: Tate would be an interesting addition to the Cowboys' backfield. Currently, Darren McFadden can be penciled in as the starter but he's been so injury prone during his pro career that Dallas better have quality options behind him. Tate bounced between three different teams last year (CLE,MIN,PIT) and has gotten little interest on the open market.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle logical leader of RBBC    Wed May 20, 09:02 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is the most likely option to lead the team's running back by committee approach in 2015. Randle has the most experience in the system, and he also has experience as a starter. Randle filled in for RB DeMarco Murray in 2013, when Murray was injured.

Footballguys view: Some beat writers think Randle will be the lead guy, while others think free agent addition Darren McFadden will be the top running back. Nearly any back getting significant carries behind that Cowboys offensive line would be fantasy relevant. Watch this battle (and RBBC) unfold during training camp. We won't truly known who is the best option until then.

Cowboys | Randy Gregory signs rookie deal    Wed May 20, 01:59 PM

Dallas Cowboys DE Randy Gregory signed his four-year rookie deal Wednesday, May 20. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Gregory was the team's second-round draft pick.

Footballguys view: Gregory is a talented pass-rusher, but he fell in the 2015 NFL draft after a positive drug test (marijuana) at the scouting combine. He's got the length and the burst to get after the quarterback from the edge, but his technique and diagnostic skills could use some work.

Cowboys | Make two roster moves    Mon May 18, 03:32 PM

Dallas Cowboys FB Jed Collins was released Monday, May 18, and FB Tyler Clutts was re-signed to an undisclosed contract.

Footballguys view: Clutts has started nine games in the NFL over the last four years. He started one game last year for the Cowboys and scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard catch in the playoff loss against the Packers.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant attends offseason program    Mon May 18, 01:11 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is participating in the strength and conditioning program, despite being at odds with the Cowboys regarding his current contract. 'I wanted to be here for my teammates,' Bryant said. 'In the past two years that locker room has changed. There is something special in there.' If Bryant isn't given a long-term deal, he may not practice with the team until late July when training camp begins.

Footballguys view: The two sides have until July 15th to reach a new long-term deal. Bryant is a top-5 receiver in the game today, and he'll be compensated as such...either by Dallas or by some other team. If he doesn't get a new long-term deal, then Bryant can play on the one-year franchise tender of $12.8 million.

Cowboys | Five more years for Jason Witten?    Sun May 17, 08:24 PM

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten said Sunday, May 17, that he and QB Tony Romo could play four or five more years if they continue to play like they did last season.

Footballguys view: We'll pump the brakes on this. Witten is entering his 13th season, and he's not quite the same player he used to be. He should still be able to put up top-10 fantasy tight end numbers this season, but we're not so sure he can stay with the Cowboys for five more years.

Cowboys | Dallas going to miss DeMarco Murray?    Sun May 17, 07:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray is going to be missed by his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, according to retired WR Michael Irvin. 'I want to upchuck sometimes when I hear the thoughts of others and (they say), 'Oh, you can put any running back behind that offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys,' Irvin said. 'I say, 'Really? Why did they hand the ball off to DeMarco Murray 392 times? Why didn't they stick anybody back there last year?' Because they already knew.'

Footballguys view: Of course they're going to miss Murray! He's better than any of the current options they have as Murray is one of the best running backs in the game today. The Cowboys did not add a running back in the 2015 NFL draft, instead option to see what Darren McFadden or Joseph Randle could do behind their monstrous (and incredibly talented) offensive line.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle needs team's trust    Sat May 16, 07:24 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has the skills to lead the team's backfield in 2015 but he'll need to work on his off-field issues, according to Jon Machota of SportsDayDFW.com. Randle will need to prove to his coaches he can stay out of trouble and be relied on every week.

Footballguys view: Randle has good speed to attack a defense, and he may have an opportunity to prove himself with a larger role in 2015. Veteran Darren McFadden can be penciled in as the team's starter right now, but his injury history reads like Infinite Jest. If McFadden is hurt again, Randle could step in to start and produce RB1 numbers because of that incredible offensive line. Keep an eye on Randle on and off the field during training camp.

Cowboys | Jerry Jones confident in run game    Thu May 14, 07:41 PM

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's overall run game Thursday, May 14. "You say the entire running game, and that would be including our tight ends, including our fullback - the entire game - we're better," Jones said. The Cowboys have yet to determine roles for their running backs. As it stands, RB Darren McFadden is at the top of the depth chart, with RBs Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams in the mix.

Footballguys view: Darren McFadden is constantly hurt, and his fifth round ADP shows a general distrust by owners so far. Consider that this is a fifth round pick behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Joseph Randle is going in the late ninth round, while Ryan Williams is a common pick late in round 12. Lance Dunbar is hanging on with an ADP of round 14. All this goes to show is that nobody has much faith that this will be productive for all the backs and are cautious about McFadden and his injury issues.

Cowboys | Geoff Swaim agrees to terms    Thu May 14, 03:04 PM

Dallas Cowboys TE Geoff Swaim signed a contract with the team Thursday, May 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Swaim is a longshot to make the roster, but the 2015 seventh-round pick has good size and strength as a blocker. He's athletic, but his separation and run-after-the catch ability leave a lot to be desired. At this time, Gavin Escobar seems to be the incumbent for when Jason Witten retires.

Cowboys | Demarcus Lawrence to rush more    Wed May 13, 11:42 PM

Dallas Cowboys DE Demarcus Lawrence will be counted upon in the pass rush more this season, and the team is banking on him making great strides in his second year.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys defense is going to be one to watch for fantasy owners. They've added pass-rushing talent this offseason through the draft and free agency. Plus, it sounds like they want to turn Lawrence loose this year. He is up to 260 pounds, a weight he wants to stay for the season, and he likes the way he gets off on his left side with his right hand down.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant's contract about risk    Wed May 13, 08:03 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant isn't appearing likely to receive the long-term deal he wants from the Cowboys this offseason. Even if the Cowboys are able to agree on the financial terms with Bryant, the wide receiver will need to agree to some type of off-the-field structure designed to limit his risk.

Footballguys view: This has always been the case with Bryant, and the Cowboys have done a good job of monitoring him off the field so far in his pro career. The two sides may not be close now, but that could change instantly when the mid-July deadline approaches for signing franchise players to long-term contracts. Stay tuned.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle could play leading role    Tue May 12, 10:34 AM

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle could see the bulk of the carries as the season weighs on, in the opinion of beat writer Todd Archer. Archer pegged Randle for 1,200 rushing yards this season in what Archer admitted was a bold prediction.

Footballguys view: Opinions on Randle run hot and cold when you talk to Dallas reporters and beat writers. Some think he's not going to make the team, while others (like Archer here) believe he could be the team's top back. There's no denying Randle's talent as a runner. He's got good speed and can make big plays happen with just a little running room--plus he's a decent receiver. Fantasy owners need to monitor the Cowboys running back situation closely. With their offensive line nearly any back can be fantasy relevant with the right amount of touches.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant to return punts?    Mon May 11, 02:27 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant may return punts in 2015, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. With the loss of former WR Dwayne Harris, the Cowboys are in need of a new punt returner. Jones said that WR Cole Beasley will probably be the first option, but that Bryant could also be used since he returned punts in college and has done so in his professional career.

Footballguys view: Bryant is too valuable to the offense to be used regularly as a punt returner. Whether he's playing on a new long-term contract or on his one-year franchise tender, Bryant is likely to be making around $14 million in 2015. That's too much money to risk injury as a return man.

Cowboys | Other WRs affecting Dez Bryant contract    Sun May 10, 11:03 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's contract talks have been slowed by more than just issues between Bryant and the Cowboys, executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday, May 6. 'I think a lot people want to naturally assume it's a Dez Bryant-Cowboy issue,' Jones said. 'I think it's a bigger issue than that right now. There's three or four young receivers in this league other than Dez that are going to be looking for long term contracts.'

Footballguys view: The Bryant situation is similar to the Demaryius Thomas situation in Denver. Both are franchise tagged, and neither has signed their tender yet. The deadline to get a new long-term contract done with franchise players is July 15th. We don't expect either wide receiver to get anything done until we get much closer to that deadline. Any long-term contract struck by one could be used as a guideline for the other. Both could sign deals with an annual average salary over $14 million.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant skipping workouts    Sun May 10, 01:40 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has not been participating in offseason workouts, but offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is not worried since he believes Bryant will be ready when he does practice. Linehan said he has met with Bryant on several occasions at the team's facility.

Footballguys view: Bryant was slapped with the franchise tag earlier this season, but he has yet to sign that offer. The two sides have until July 15th to work out a new long-term contract, and Bryant would lose any leverage if he did sign his franchise tender. He'll miss these camps (just like Demaryius Thomas is doing in Denver), but we have confidence that Bryant and the Cowboys will be able to come to terms on a new agreement before the deadline.

Cowboys | Tony Romo thinks OL may help career    Sun May 10, 09:56 AM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said he believes the team's offensive line could extend his career if they play well moving forward. 'When you have a good offensive line like we do the thought definitely crosses your mind to ensure you do everything possible to play longer than maybe what you had envisioned,' Romo said.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys offensive line is going to rival what they put together in the 90s....no seriously, they could be that good up front. This team has done an outstanding job of building their strength up front, and that's why Dallas is going to have a potent rushing attack--no matter who the running back is. Romo should get fantastic protection behind these guys, and fewer hits could lead to a fresher quarterback come the postseason.

Cowboys | Jones would consider trading 2016 1st round pick for RB    Fri May 8, 07:59 PM

David Helman, from Fox Sports Southwest, notes that in a recent interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would consider trading their 2016 first-round pick for a running back (or additional defensive help). "I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jones said.

Footballguys view: Right now, the Cowboys have Darren McFadden penciled in as the lead back. Talent has never been a question mark with McFadden, but staying healthy has been a major problem for him throughout his pro career. Jones would consider trading away a future first-round pick, but we're not expecting this to happen. He's done this twice before for WR Joey Galloway and then WR Roy Williams...those transactions should be more than enough to give Jones pause when considering doing it again.

Cowboys | Ryan Williams in the mix    Fri May 8, 11:29 AM

Dallas Cowboys RB Ryan Williams will be in the mix in the running back committee but needs to improve his pass blocking, according to general manager Stephen Jones.

Footballguys view: You could make the argument that Williams is the most naturally talented back on the roster--yes, even more than Darren McFadden. However, Williams entire pro career has been set back by injuries. If healthy, we'd like to see what he can finally do in the pros. Williams was a star in college at Virginia Tech, and that's why the Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft.

Cowboys | More on La'el Collins' deal    Thu May 7, 01:41 PM

Cowboys | La'el Collins signed    Thu May 7, 01:33 PM

Undrafted free-agent OT La'el Collins (Louisiana State) signed with the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, May 7, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The rich get richer, although let's be honest - the Dallas Cowboys picked up some questionable players in the draft. For Collins, it sounds like he is in the clear and had nothing to do with the death of his ex-girlfriend or her baby. Collins steps into a lineup that will be tough competition for snaps, though he could end up at guard this season at some point. While the article states the contract is undisclosed, ESPN's Adam Schefter says it is a fully guaranteed the 3-year, $1.65 million deal, per a source. He has a guaranteed contract for three years.

Cowboys | Chris Johnson wants to go to DAL    Tue May 5, 09:11 PM

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson was recently stopped outside a Los Angeles restaurant by TMZ and was asked about the possibility of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. "I'd fit good in Dallas," Johnson said when asked if the Cowboys were a good option. "They need it. Yeah. That's what we're trying to do."

Footballguys view: Dallas could have interest, but we don't see them making a move for Johnson in the near future. At this time, all signs are pointing to Darren McFadden as their lead back. He's still incredibly talented, but McFadden has failed to produce up the expectations he had coming out of Arkansas years ago. McFadden struggles to stay healthy, and we don't think as the Cowboys starter his workload will match what DeMarco Murray had last season.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle has high expectations    Tue May 5, 08:15 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is expected to be a breakout star in 2015, according to the Cowboys organization.

Footballguys view: Randle has high expectations, and he may be able to show what he's got. Right now, Randle is a backup behind Darren McFadden. However, McFadden's injury history reads like Infinite Jest and there's a good chance he'll get banged up again this year. That would open the door for Randle to be the team's starter. Running behind that monstrous offensive line, Randle could have success with that role.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden to return kicks?    Sun May 3, 08:26 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden could return kicks this season, head coach Jason Garrett said Saturday, May 3.

Footballguys view: Why in the world would they do that? Staying durable is a major concern for McFadden, and putting him on kick returns only makes him more vulnerable to injury. Having McFadden return kicks--outside of an emergency situation in an elimination game--is foolish.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden set to carry load?    Sun May 3, 12:27 AM

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden remains the frontrunner to be the lead back in 2015 after Dallas didn't select a running back in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: That's not great for the Cowboys. McFadden's talent is off the charts, but he's been set back by injuries during his pro career. If McFadden stays healthy all season (something he's only done once in seven seasons), he could be a 1,000-yard rusher behind that Cowboys offensive line. However, we're not expecting him to carry the same sized workload that DeMarco Murray did last year in Dallas.

Cowboys | Wait over for Randy Gregory    Fri May 1, 09:18 PM

The Dallas Cowboys selected University of Nebraska LB Randy Gregory in Round 2 (No. 60 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft Friday, May 1.

Footballguys view: Jerry Jones does not care for your character concerns. Gregory's issues forced a huge slide, and it's more than just drug use. We'll see if the Cowboys are a good environment for him. We know Gregory has massive talent but his floor appears to be very low.

Cowboys | Morris Claiborne's status for camp uncertain    Fri May 1, 03:38 PM

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne (knees) is making good progress in his recovery from offseason surgery, but his status for the start of training camp is uncertain at this time, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. Jones said Claiborne is still a part of this team but is not sure if the team will pick up his fifth-year option.

Footballguys view: The Dallas Cowboys just drafted his replacement, so he'd best get cracking on the rehab. Byron Jones will help the secondary immediately while Claiborne has struggled much of his career thus far.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle could face league discipline    Fri May 1, 12:26 PM

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle could still face punishment from the league under the terms of personal conduct policy, even though he will not face formal misdemeanor charges following a domestic disturbance.

Footballguys view: We're thinking the Cownoys might target a running back on day two of the NFL Draft. Darren McFadden is never healthy, so they were probably hoping he and Lance Dunbar could rotate when McFadden ended up hurt. Now it looks like Dunbar is it. If you take McFadden, plan on a handcuff of Dunbar.

Cowboys | Byron Jones selected 27th overall    Thu Apr 30, 11:00 PM

Connecticut CB Byron Jones was selected 27th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft Thursday, April 30.

Footballguys view: Jones is a big, physical corner who can mix things up at the line of scrimmage. He's an instinctive player with a nose for the ball and a knack for breaking up incoming passes.

Cowboys | Dallas may not draft running back    Tue Apr 28, 03:47 PM

Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones said a running back isn't a necessity in this year's draft.

Footballguys view: Sorry, but we don't believe this for a second. The Cowboys lost DeMarco Murray in free agency to the Eagles, and they need to find a starting running back. Darren McFadden was picked up, but he's no answer at the position. They could look for a back like Todd Gurley (Georgia) or Melvin Gordon (Wisconsin) in the first round of the NFL draft.

Cowboys | Benardrick McKinney works out    Sat Apr 25, 02:36 AM

Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney worked out for the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, April 24.

Footballguys view: McKinney is one of the best inside linebackers in this draft. He arrives at the ball-carrier with natural violence, and he does a good job of sniffing out plays as they unfold. He's got to improve his coverage ability if he wants to be a three-down player in the NFL.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson may not be in the Dallas Cowboys' plans after all, according Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports. Robinson said the Cowboys have not spoken to the Vikings regarding Peterson.

Footballguys view: It looks like the Cowboys are going to add a feature back through the draft. They'll be in the market for guys like Todd Gurley (Georgia) or Melvin Gordon (Wisconsin) in the first round of the draft. They added Darren McFadden in free agency earlier this year, but he's not the answer as a lead back.

Cowboys | DAL to meet with Dorial Green-Beckham    Wed Apr 22, 01:21 PM

Oklahoma WR Dorial Green-Beckham is scheduled to meet with the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday, April 22, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham in the first round seems like a real possibility. While the Cowboys don't have wide receiver atop their list of needs, they were successful managing Dez Bryant and helping him flourish, so there's something to the idea that perhaps they would be a good landing spot for Green-Beckham.

Cowboys | Two players re-sign    Tue Apr 21, 05:40 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar and P Chris Jones re-signed to undisclosed deals Tuesday, April 21.

Footballguys view: Dunbar is a player to watch here. The Cowboys are likely to add a back via the 2015 NFL draft, and perhaps that player could end up starting over free agent addition Darren McFadden. Dunbar is likely to be behind McFadden on the depth chart, but we'd be floored if McFadden stayed healthy all season. He's a player to monitor in dynasty leagues, regardless of the caliber of back added to the depth chart via the draft.

Cowboys | Duke Johnson likes Dallas' system    Mon Apr 20, 07:39 PM

Former University of Miami RB Duke Johnson said he fits the Dallas Cowboys' scheme, Monday, April 20. 'In college, we ran the same outside zone scheme,' said Johnson, who also said his familiarization with the scheme means 'I can run it, basically, in my sleep.'

Footballguys view: The Cowboys should be in the market for a running back in the 2015 NFL draft. Johnson is a compact back, but he's an explosive playmaker who can make defenders miss in space. We like him as an edge-runner and receiver out of the backfield who could work well in a RBBC. Johnson should be a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Footballguys view: Bryant had the franchise tag placed on him earlier this year. He has yet to sign his one-year tender, and there is a deadline of July 15th to reach a new long-term agreement. The two sides have not gotten much traction so far, but that could change when we get closer to the deadline.

Cowboys | Dorial Green-Beckham declines DAL visit    Mon Apr 20, 07:29 AM

Former Missouri WR Dorial Green-Beckham declined a pre-draft visit to the Dallas Cowboys. No reason was given for the turndown.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys have dealt with character concerns before when they selected Dez Bryan in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. Like Bryant, Green-Beckham is supremely talented but there are off-field concerns after a trouble college career. Based purely on talent, Green-Beckham is a top-10 pick. We should see him go off the board late in the first round due to these character concerns instead.

Cowboys | Brett Hundley works out    Fri Apr 17, 04:43 PM

UCLA QB Brett Hundley worked out privately for the Dallas Cowboys in California Thursday, April 16, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Hundley is one of our favorite quarterbacks in the draft, but his projection in the NFL is all over the board. The positive: Hundley has a strong arm and is crazy athletic. The negative: He holds onto the ball too long and takes a lot of sacks. Hundley is worth picking up and developing because of his raw natural skill set. He should be a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Cowboys | Sean Mannion to work out for Dallas    Tue Apr 14, 08:29 AM

Oregon State QB Sean Mannion will work out for the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday, April 15.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys could use a developmental quarterback behind Tony Romo. Right now, Brandon Weeden is the primary backup. Mannion has a strong arm, but he has little control as a passer--especially when asked or forced to throw on the move. If the pocket is clean, Mannion can make touch throws to all parts of the field. However, with 30 fumbles and 54 interceptions during his college career he'll need to prove that he can make better decisions with the football.

Cowboys | Dallas interested in Melvin Gordon    Mon Apr 13, 08:37 PM

The Dallas Cowboys are high on Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon, and are targeting him in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys need a feature running back after losing DeMarco Murray (Eagles) in free agency. Gordon is our second-ranked back in this draft class behind Todd Gurley (Georgia). He's a fast player who is dangerous in the open field. Gordon can take it to the house any time he touches the ball, and he's got the mindset of a workhorse back. Any potential starting back the Cowboys add via the draft is going to be an important person for fantasy owners to consider.

Cowboys | Jay Ajayi visiting    Fri Apr 10, 03:16 PM

Boise State RB Jay Ajayi is meeting with the Dallas Cowboys Friday, April 10. Ajayi also has dinner with representatives from the team Thursday, April 9.

Footballguys view: Ajayi will certainly be a strong consideration if Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon are gone, and maybe even if Gordon is there. No matter who the Cowboys take in the draft, they'll be a hot commodity in redraft and dynasty leagues alike.

Cowboys | Kevin Johnson visiting Thursday    Thu Apr 9, 02:01 PM

Wake Forest CB Kevin Johnson is meeting with the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, April 9.

Footballguys view: Johnson needs a little more sand in his pants. Measuring in at 6'0" 180 pounds, he'll need to put on some more muscle in an NFL weight room to help his pro prospects. He's an aggressive player downfield who gets a little "handsy" in coverage.

Footballguys view: Williams is one of the most physically gifted corners in this year's draft class. He played both safety and corner for the Seminoles, and Williams is a position-versatile player with the upside to be a shutdown corner.

Cowboys | Amobi Okoye released    Wed Apr 8, 04:48 PM

Dallas Cowboys DT Amobi Okoye was released Wednesday, April 8.

Footballguys view: Okoye and the Cowboys gave it a shot, but in the end he just couldn't make it back. Okoye was trying to return from a life-threatening disease that put him in a coma at one point. Okoye joined the Cowboys last May, but he never made it past just being on the roster. He spent the 2014 season on the non-football injury list.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden ready to produce    Fri Apr 3, 01:03 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is ready to show the world that he's better than what he showed in the last couple of seasons with the Oakland Raiders, and he's confident that he'll produce more behind a great offensive line in Dallas. 'I just want to go out there and continue to show people what I can do,' McFadden said. 'I still don't think the world has seen the best of Darren McFadden.'

Footballguys view: McFadden has always had potential, but he's never produced up the level that he could because of injuries. We'll see if he can stay healthy and get it done for the Cowboys this year. We still think the Cowboys are going to add a back through the draft.

Cowboys | No talks between DAL, Dez Bryant    Thu Apr 2, 12:25 PM

Dallas Cowboys franchise free-agent WR Dez Bryant has not had any contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys at this point. The team has until July 15 to sign Bryant to a long-term contract or he will play the 2015 season on his one year-deal.

Footballguys view: For Bryant if the money isn't there, it's worth a gamble that he comes through the other end of the season healthy and productive--and worth more money. Since the Cowboys didn't pay DeMarco Murray, you'd think they would pay Bryant, but so far it's been slow...even though Tony Romo restructured his deal to free up some cap space.
