Cowboys | DeMarco Murray contract looming?    Mon Sep 15, 02:26 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray may be in talks with the team about a new contract in the near future. Chief operating officer Stephen Jones said the team wouldn't be against giving Murray a new contract and that they desire to keep him in Dallas long-term, adding that Murray has increased that desire with his play so far this season.

Footballguys view: Murray is a top-notch running back when at full strength. His relentless running style has caused him to get banged up quite a bit during his pro career. He's missed 11 games due to various injuries over the three years he's been in the league. That will most certainly play a factor in the next contract Murray gets.

Cowboys | Rolando McClain to have bigger role    Sat Sep 13, 11:08 AM

Dallas Cowboys LB Rolando McClain is expected to have a bigger role in the nickel defense Week 2 because of the injury to LB Justin Durant (groin).

Footballguys view: The Cowboys will need help as they didn't do all that well against the Niners. The Titans aren't an offensive powerhouse, but Jake Locker looked sharp in Week 1. We can't imagine McClain's expanded role doing much good.

Cowboys | Tony Romo is probable    Fri Sep 12, 05:09 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Sept. 12, and he's listed as probable for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Romo was very casual with the ball and gave his team (and fantasy teams) little chance to win last week. If better results don't come at Tennessee, it might be time to put Romo on the bench, or even the waiver wire.

Cowboys | Terrance Williams practices in full    Thu Sep 11, 06:01 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (back) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: If Tony Romo can avoid being a total disaster on Sunday, that would be great m'kay? The way Romo played in Week 1, Bill Lumbergh might be a better option..if only he could put down the coffee cup. In all seriousness, we love Williams' upside but his fantasy value hinges on the play of a quarterback so inconsistent even Eli Manning pokes fun at him.

Cowboys | Tony Romo practices in full    Thu Sep 11, 05:54 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced in full for the second straight day this week Thursday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: Can he practice not sucking? Seriously, Romo was beyond horrible in Week 1 against the 49ers. Perhaps he will perform better against the Titans this week, but don't bet on it.

Cowboys | No setbacks with Tony Romo's back    Wed Sep 10, 05:54 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) is expecting better results in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, and he said his surgically repaired back had no lingering effects after being sacked three times against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. Romo is coming off the 11th game in his career in which he had three or more interceptions. In the 10 games following, he has 15 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.

Footballguys view: Great, no setbacks....but can he start playing better please? Romo was awful against the 49ers in Week 1, and we can't recommend him as a starter in Week 2.

Cowboys | Tony Romo a full go    Wed Sep 10, 04:28 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Footballguys view: Awesome. Now can he get back to not sucking? Romo wasn't rusty (per reports), but he was terrible in Week 1 against the 49ers. Against the Titans in Week 2, we can only recommend Romo as a low-end QB2. Most of you Romo owners are going to have a better option on your bench.

Cowboys | Terrance Williams limited    Wed Sep 10, 04:18 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (back) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Footballguys view: Monitor the practice reports closely to see if Williams can be a full participant later in the week. The Cowboys need the offense to carry the load as their defense is historically bad.

Cowboys | Tony Romo wasn't rusty    Tue Sep 9, 12:42 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo wasn't rusty in Week 1 when he threw three interceptions in the first half in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers, according to head coach Jason Garrett. Romo played 50 preseason snaps in two preseason games. "I think if you look at his body of work in the preseason -- you guys can go back and count up the plays he played last year in the preseason relative to the plays he played this year -- I bet it's pretty similar," Garrett said.

Footballguys view: He wasn't rusty....he was just terrible in Week 1. The Cowboys defense is a disaster, so the offense will have to carry the load for the team. This means Romo has to start playing better if they want to win more than a small handful of games.

Cowboys | C.J. Spillman, Justin Durant injured    Mon Sep 8, 01:39 PM

Cowboys | Tony Romo starts on wrong foot    Sun Sep 7, 08:41 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo was picked off three times in the first half of the Week 1 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. It was the seventh time he has been picked off three times in a half in his career, and first since Week 8 of the 2012 season.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys defense didn't have to feel like they were the reason for this loss. Romo threw with reckless disregard for the team's possession of the ball, and didn't seem to be dialed in against a defanged 49ers defense. After Tennessee's defense stifled Alex Smith (albeit without his #1 wide receiver) at Arrowhead, they aren't looking like a pushover for Romo and Dallas on the road next week.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant nursing arm injury    Sun Sep 7, 06:33 PM

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (arm) is dealing with an apparent injury to his left arm. He was taken to the locker room in the third quarter of the Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Sept. 7, for examination.

Footballguys view: The injury doesn't seem to be serious, but it is putting the kibosh on any kind of good stat line for Bryant as the Cowboys are in what should be the weekly script of trying to come back from a huge deficit.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant playing for big money    Sun Sep 7, 12:13 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant will be playing for a new contract this year after he and the team couldn't work out a contract extension before the start of the season. Bryant imposed the deadline because he did not want the contract talks to be a distraction once the season started. The Cowboys could simply place the franchise tag on him next year.

Cowboys | Terrance Williams will be fine    Fri Sep 5, 05:05 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (back) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 5, and he is questionable for Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Williams said he'll be fine to play against the Niners Sunday, Sept. 7, however. He bruised his back when he fell hard in practice Thursday, Sept. 4.

Footballguys view: Williams has a lot of upside against a 49ers defense missing a few key players because the Cowboys will likely have to put up a lot of points to win on Sunday. As long as he's active, he's worth a WR3/Flex start.

Cowboys | Tony Romo will start    Fri Sep 5, 05:02 PM

Cowboys | Tony Romo ready to go    Thu Sep 4, 05:27 PM

Cowboys | Thursday practice report    Thu Sep 4, 05:19 PM

Dallas Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer (knee) and OT Darrion Weems (shoulder) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 4. OG Zack Martin (foot), DT Terrell McClain (ankle) and DE George Selvie (shoulder) were limited.

Footballguys view: Given how banged up the offensive line is, we imagine Michael Sam will be on the active roster soon. Spencer and Selvie are the biggest concerns here.

Cowboys | Terrance Williams sits    Thu Sep 4, 04:44 PM

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (back) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 4, due to a back bruise. Williams is still expected to play this week.

Footballguys view: Williams probably just got a day off to make sure he's ready to go this weekend. It's all hands on deck against a Niners team which, while on its heels a bit, still should put the pressure on a beat up Cowboys defense and force the offense to throw a lot.

Cowboys | Rolando McClain working with starters    Thu Sep 4, 01:27 PM

Cowboys | Michael Sam signs    Wed Sep 3, 11:10 AM
