Cardinals | Darren Fells signs tender    Mon Feb 1, 03:12 PM

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells signed his exclusive-rights tender Monday, Feb. 1.

Footballguys view: Fells will make the minimum this year and be a restricted free agent in 2017. The Cardinals don't use their tight ends that much, but Fells will be in the mix to be top at the position. He's not a factor for fantasy owners.

Cardinals | D.J. Humphries needs to add strength    Tue Jan 26, 11:16 PM

Arizona Cardinals OT D.J. Humphries played behind OT Bobby Massie in 2015, but Massie is an impending free agent so Humphries has a chance to claim the starting right tackle spot in offseason and heading into training camp. He needs to add upper body strength, but feels like going against top-notch pass rushers like veteran DEs Calais Campbell and Dwight Freeney will help him.

Cardinals | Jonathan Cooper could reclaim job    Tue Jan 26, 11:16 PM

Arizona Cardinals OG Jonathan Cooper lost his starting job to C Ted Larsen midway through the season, but Larsen is an impending free agent and Cooper has the chance to reclaim the starting spot in the offseason and into training camp. 'I'm just working,' Cooper said Tuesday, Jan. 26. 'I want to improve. As long as I improve and become a better player than I was this year, and be a consistently great player, everything else will work out.'

Footballguys view: Cooper needs to get a shorter memory as he'll too often let bad plays stick with him. If healthy and in the right place mentally, Cooper is naturally talented enough to get back in the starting lineup.

Cardinals | Three players sign Reserve/Futures deals    Tue Jan 26, 03:20 PM

Arizona Cardinals RBs Marion Grice and Robert Hughes and WR Jaxon Shipley signed Reserve/Futures contracts Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Footballguys view: Grice is the most interesting player here in super deep dynasty leagues. He's a powerful runner who makes his living between the tackles. Hughes, an undrafted free agent (2011) out of Notre Dame, has bounced around to several teams in his short career but he's been with the Cardinals since 2013.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer expected to rebound    Mon Jan 25, 10:14 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) is expected to bounce back to lead the team in 2016, general manager Steve Keim said in a radio interview Monday, Jan. 25. 'There is nobody I respect and appreciate more than Carson Palmer,' Keim said. 'In a league full of teams who are looking for a quarterback, I'm certainly proud he's our guy.'

Footballguys view: Head coach Bruce Arians would not blame the finger injury on Palmer's rocky performance in the NFC Championship Game. However, Palmer clearly wasn't right and off his game. Like Keim, we're expecting Palmer to bounce back in 2016.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer will let finger heal    Mon Jan 25, 05:25 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) won't be playing in the Pro Bowl in order to let his injured finger heal. He will not need surgery, however.

Footballguys view: Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said that he didn't think the finger was an issue against the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship, but we tend to disagree. Palmer was not effective and didn't take care of the football. Arians said that Palmer probably should not have played in Week 17 of the regular season because of the finger.

Cardinals | Quiet night for Larry Fitzgerald    Sun Jan 24, 11:08 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished with four catches for 30 yards in a 49-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Footballguys view: So much for the Cardinals high-powered offense. They ran into a buzzsaw on Sunday night and couldn't get much of anything done.

Cardinals | David Johnson ends season on high note    Sun Jan 24, 10:35 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson carried the ball 15 times for 60 yards and a touchdown and had nine catches for 68 yards in a 49-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals were outmatched on Sunday night, but the rookie went out swinging. In a losing effort, he showed a lot of fight and we're excited to see what he can do going forward.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer tosses four picks    Sun Jan 24, 10:31 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer completed 23 of 40 passes for 235 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions in a 49-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Footballguys view: Mama said there'd be days like this. A simply awful game for Palmer as the Cardinals offense was floundering--while the Panthers offense was flourishing--on Sunday night.

Cardinals | Friday injury report for Week 20    Fri Jan 22, 04:38 PM

Cardinals | Carson Palmer should be on the field    Fri Jan 22, 04:35 PM

Cardinals | David Johnson expected to play    Fri Jan 22, 04:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 22, and is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 24.

Footballguys view: Toe injuries are complicated, and they can slow down running backs. We could see Johnson bottled up on the ground by the Panthers defense, but he's a dangerous receiver who could do most of his damage as a pass-catcher.

Cardinals | John Brown listed as probable    Fri Jan 22, 04:29 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 22, and is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 24.

Footballguys view: Brown's deep speed is going to come in handy. The Panthers secondary is vulnerable, and the Cardinals will work diligently to exploit them.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good on the road    Fri Jan 22, 01:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer led the league in points per game (32.8), yards per game (426.3) and passing yards per game (292.8) on the road this year. He's also generated the highest passer rating (121.2) in the second half of games this year, although he's really struggled in the first half of the last two games.

Footballguys view: Palmer is going to light it up through the air against the Panthers. The Carolina secondary can be picked on, and that's where Palmer will go vertical to move the ball and score as much as possible.

Cardinals | David Johnson good on the road    Fri Jan 22, 01:06 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson led the NFL with nine touchdowns on the road this year.

Footballguys view: Johnson is facing a tough Panthers run defense on Sunday. His best production might come as a receiver out of the backfield.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd came on late in season    Thu Jan 21, 07:58 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd caught 44 passes for 745 yards and six touchdowns in the final 10 games of the 2015 season. Through the first five games of the season he only caught eight passes for 104 yards with no scores. Head coach Bruce Arians believes that Floyd could have achieved 1,500 yards had he not broken his hand right before the regular season.

Footballguys view: Floyd was straight fire at the end of the year and while his yardage total hasn't been great the last two games, he scored twice against Green Bay. We think he's a decent risk this weekend--Carson Palmer does look for him a lot, especially to score, but Floyd can also disappear on occasion. With so many weapons for Palmer to choose, that's a risk for everyone besides Larry Fitzgerald.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald excelled in slot    Thu Jan 21, 07:07 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald lined up for 505 plays out of the slot receiver position this year and had 53 catches for 626 yards. Carolina Panthers CB Josh Norman isn't expected to cover him in the NFC Championship.

Footballguys view: Expect another good day from Fitzgerald who was a huge reason the Cardinals advanced last weekend. He may see some Josh Norman, but Norman doesn't get moved to the slot, so he may also be free a lot of the time.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good at deep ball    Thu Jan 21, 07:04 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer had the third-most completions in the league this year of 20 yards or deeper down the field.

Footballguys view: BREAKING: WATER IS WET. Yes, Palmer has a nice arm and having the weapons around him that he does makes it easier to go deep. We like him this weekend even against a stout Carolina defense, albeit one who collapsed in the second half last weekend against Seattle.

Cardinals | Limited practice for two Cardinals    Thu Jan 21, 05:02 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (toe) and WR John Brown (shoulder) were limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 21.

Footballguys view: We think Johnson will bounce back this week, even though Marshawn Lynch struggled last week. He's one of the only remaing "full carry" running backs in the playoffs, so he's got one of the higher ceilings of the group this week.

Cardinals | Full practice for Carson Palmer    Thu Jan 21, 04:56 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 21.

Footballguys view: Palmer faces a tough defense, but we still don't hate starting him in daily fantasy games as he has more receiving options than he knows what to do with.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington almost out of picture    Wed Jan 20, 10:17 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington ran three times for just three yards in the win against the Green Bay Packers last week, and he had no catches on one target. He will face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Cardinals | John Brown looks to keep going    Wed Jan 20, 10:16 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown totaled 84 total yards from scrimmage in the win last weekend against the Green Bay Packers, now he'll face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Panthers ranked 11th in the NFL against the pass, giving up 234.5 yards per game with 21 passing scores.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd set for NFC title game    Wed Jan 20, 10:16 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd will meet the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. He posted three receptions for just 26 yards last weekend, but he scored twice against the Green Bay Packers.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald looks to stay hot    Wed Jan 20, 10:15 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald posted eight receptions for 176 yards and a 75-yard game-winning touchdown in overtime last week against the Green Bay Packers. Now, he will meet the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24, for a chance at a second-career Super Bowl appearance.

Footballguys view: Reports earlier this week indicated that Fitzgerald would not be covered by CB Josh Norman. If CB Cortland Finnegan is on Fitzgerald, he could go HAM on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game. He's obviously a WR that DFS players should pay up for this weekend.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer looks to declaw Cats    Wed Jan 20, 10:14 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer will face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. He missed last season's playoff loss in Charlotte due to injury. The Panthers were middling against the pass, ranking 11th in the NFL by allowing 234.5 yards per game with 21 touchdowns. They also gave up 53 pass plays of 20 or more yards, and 10 pass plays of 40 or more yards.

Footballguys view: The Panthers have a strong defense, but they can be attacked through the air. That's all the Cardinals want to do. Palmer should attack the Panthers safeties with weapons like Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown.

Cardinals | David Johnson to face stingy rush D    Wed Jan 20, 10:14 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will meet the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Panthers allowed just 88.4 rushing yards per game in the regular season, fourth-best in the NFL. However, they did give up 11 rushing touchdowns and 10 runs of over 20 yards.

Footballguys view: Johnson can do damage against a defense as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. For fantasy owners playing this weekend, Johnson is a back you will have to pay up to add.

Cardinals | Arizona's running game lacking    Tue Jan 19, 08:59 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson only ran for 35 yards on 15 carries in an overtime win against the Green Bay Packers last weekend.

Footballguys view: Head coach Bruce Arians put the blame on the offensive line for the struggling run game, saying there haven't been a lot of holes to run through and that the offensive line will need to do a better job against the Carolina Panthers this week.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson ready for Super Bowl    Tue Jan 19, 05:51 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) will be ready to play if the Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl. Johnson said he feels explosive and that he could have played last weekend, but he is not eligible to return from the short-term Injured Reserve until next week.

Footballguys view: Johnson is not eligible to return until/unless the Cardinals make the Super Bowl. His speed will be a great asset for one of the league's most high-powered offenses.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald has nice matchup    Tue Jan 19, 04:33 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is expected to be covered by Carolina Panthers CB Cortland Finnegan in the NFC Championship game this weekend.

Footballguys view: Finnegan is certainly not the player he used to be, and this would be a great matchup for Fitzgerald to exploit. With Panthers CB Josh Norman focused on outside receivers like Michael Floyd, we could see Cardinals QB Carson Palmer go to Fitzgerald early and often.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald sets postseason record    Tue Jan 19, 02:32 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald became the fastest player ever to reach 10 postseason receiving touchdowns. It took Fitzgerald eight games to accomplish the feat, and only six other players have caught as many touchdowns in the postseason.

Footballguys view: We are so happy to see Fitzgerald once again play deep into the postseason. If the Cardinals get to the Super Bowl, it should be because of the play of this future Hall of Fame receiver.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer was conservative    Tue Jan 19, 01:33 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) was conservative while picking plays for the early part of the divisional round game against the Green Bay Packers, but head coach Bruce Arians said the Cardinals will get back to being themselves in the NFC Championship. 'He picked a lot of shorter completions early instead of going for them like we normally do,' Arians said. 'I think that was part of 'I don't want to screw this up.'' Arians also reiterated that Palmer's right finger injury is not a problem.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals are going to live and die by the sword. They're super aggressive, and that's the way that Arians wants them to be. The Panthers have a tough defense, but you can move the ball against them. We expect the Cardinals to attack vertically and test the Panthers safeties...perhaps the weakest part of the Carolina defense.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald torches Packers    Sat Jan 16, 11:52 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald had eight catches for 176 yards and a touchdown in a 26-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Footballguys view: Fitzgerald is still one of the best in the game, and he proved that on Saturday night. The Cardinals have so many weapons that sometimes the ball is spread around too much for Fitzgerald to have this kind of impact. If he's left in good matchups, QB Carson Palmer will find him and keep going back to Fitzgerald.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer good to go    Fri Jan 15, 02:24 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) practiced in full all week and is probable to face the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round Saturday, Jan. 16.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to pay up to superstack your DFS lineups with Cardinals players. Palmer may be an expensive quarterback to add, but he could be well worth the price tag in a game that the Cardinals could run away with.

Cardinals | Friday injury report for Week 19    Fri Jan 15, 02:19 PM

Arizona Cardinals DT Josh Mauro (calf) and DT Frostee Rucker (ankle) are questionable for the divisional round game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Jan. 16. LB Markus Golden (knee) and OG Mike Iupati (shoulder) are probable. Mauro and Rucker were limited in practice Friday, Jan. 15, while Golden and Iupati practiced in full.

Cardinals | David Johnson shining as starter    Thu Jan 14, 09:11 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson leads all players with 131.6 yards from scrimmage per game since taking over as the starting running back in Week 13.

Footballguys view: Johnson is likely to be one of--if not THE--best starts this weekend. The Packers improved defensively this year but are still vulnerable against the run. This week they also have to contend with a very potent passing offense, which means a lot less men in the box for the talented Arizona rookie.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald excels in playoffs    Thu Jan 14, 06:43 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald leads all NFL receivers in history with at least five postseason games with an average of 105.1 receiving yards per game.

Footballguys view: We expect more of the same. The Packers pass defense is solid, but has a few injuries to contend with, so Fitzgerald should do well. We think starting him as a decent WR1 is a good way to go.

Cardinals | Full practice for Carson Palmer    Thu Jan 14, 06:29 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (finger) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 14.

Footballguys view: Palmer will be fine, and though the Packers defense is no pushover this year (we can hardly believe we just typed that out), he should put up some very good points this weekend.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer lacks playoff experience    Wed Jan 13, 08:12 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer is 0-2 with a 51.4% completion rate, one touchdown, one interception and a passer rating of just 66.5 in his career in the playoffs, and both of those games came with the Cincinnati Bengals. He had just one pass attempt in 2005 before injuring his knee.

Footballguys view: Experience/smerience, Palmer is damn good and could have a great day against the Packers. We've built some Cardinals-heavy DFS lineups for the Divisional Round with Palmer as the quarterback.

Cardinals | David Johnson not nervous    Wed Jan 13, 07:52 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson said he doesn't really have any more rookie nerves after the experience he's gained in games this season. He added that he doesn't think about the spectacle of the playoffs, saying that he has too much to think about already as far as the game plan is concerned.

Footballguys view: Johnson is ready to go, and fantasy owners should pay up in DFS tournaments to get the rookie RB in the lineup. He could be the best fantasy running back this weekend.

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) returned to practice Tuesday, Jan. 13. He is still on the short-term Reserve/Injured list and is not eligible to play until the Super Bowl.

Footballguys view: Johnson can return to the field if the Cardinals make it all the way. So long as QB Carson Palmer stays healthy, the chances of them representing the NFC in the Super Bowl is strong.
