Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) continues to see improvement with the bruised nerve in his right shoulder, and head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Oct. 17, that the injury continues to improve daily.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Cardinals here. As you saw last week, the Cardinals offense just looks different (better) with Palmer in the lineup. Fantasy owners can feel more confident about starting Larry Fitzgerald or Michael Floyd with Palmer in the lineup.

Cardinals | John Carlson back to 100 percent    Fri Oct 17, 11:40 PM

Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson (knee) is almost back to 100 percent after suffering a knee injury in the Week 6 game. Head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Oct. 17, that Carlson practiced better than Thursday, Oct. 16, when he returned to the field after missing time Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Footballguys view: Carlson being back to 100 percent would have more fantasy relevance if the Cardinals actually used their tight ends in the passing game.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer needs practice reps    Tue Oct 14, 12:04 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said his right shoulder felt great Monday, Oct. 13, but he needs as many repetitions in practice this week as possible heading into Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders. He won't throw Wednesday, Oct. 15, but head coach Bruce Arians said the plan is for him to do 'hopefully everything' in practice. Palmer is unsure how long it'll take to regain full strength in his arm. 'It's going to take a while. It's going to take at least a week of throwing, I would think. It's kind of what I'm expecting to really get it back. It just needs to get back in shape. It's just out of shape. It's like sitting on the couch after training camp -- you have a knee issue or high ankle sprain, you just get out of shape, you get out of the football shape. My arm's out of throwing shape, and that'll come back,' Palmer said.

Footballguys view: The team isn't worried about his shoulder problem, but people need to keep an eye on the practice reports to see what Palmer does this week. We'll have better clarity about his status at the end of the week.

Cardinals | Cards not concerned about Carson Palmer    Mon Oct 13, 08:00 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the pain subsided enough for him to get a good night's rest after the team's Week 6 win Sunday, Oct. 12, and head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer's nerve in his right shoulder didn't regress after playing against the Washington Redskins. "I was concerned until I saw him today," Arians said. "And then now he feels great, so we should just get better and better and just get stronger." Arians is hopeful that Palmer will take part in all practices this week.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Cardinals and Palmer here. If they're not worried, then we're not worried--mostly. Still monitor the practice reports to watch Palmer's progress through the week.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is feeling good physically following the team's Week 6 win against the Washington Redskins. Palmer had not started since Week 1 after suffering a shoulder injury.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals offense just runs better with Palmer under center. Monitor his status in practice this week, but he should be good to go in Week 7.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald had bigger role    Mon Oct 13, 12:45 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald was a big part of the game plan in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins with QB Carson Palmer back in the starting role. Fitzgerald had six catches for 98 yards and his first touchdown of the season, and he tied a season high for catches and a season high for yards. He had only 13 catches for 164 yards in the team's first four games.

Footballguys view: Palmer being back in the starting lineup made the passing game look better. His presence certainly helped Fitzgerald put up better numbers for his fantasy owners.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd gets on board    Sun Oct 12, 04:47 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd hauled in his first touchdown reception of the season in the Week 6 game against the Washington Redskins. It was the first touchdown grab between Floyd and WR Larry Fitzgerald, who continues to search for that first elusive score.

Footballguys view: Carson Palmer doesn't have the arm to stretch the field today, but he is still an aggressive passer and he gave Floyd the chance to win in the air in the end zone.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer active    Sun Oct 12, 03:03 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is active for the team's Week 6 game.

Footballguys view: Palmer could play less than the full set of snaps, or he could just be ineffective and force Bruce Arians to remove him. The whole Cardinals passing game is an unknown today.

Cardinals | Week 6 Inactives    Sun Oct 12, 02:58 PM

The Arizona Cardinals have declared RB Marion Grice, LB Desmond Bishop, LB Thomas Keiser, LB Glenn Carson, DT Bruce Gaston, TE Troy Niklas, DE Calais Campbell inactive for Week 6.

Footballguys view: Campbell is maybe the key player of the Cardinals defense. The Washington offense has a head start but even good teams tend to have trouble moving the ball in Arizona.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer likely to play    Sun Oct 12, 10:33 AM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is likely to play Sunday, Oct. 12.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton cleared to play    Fri Oct 10, 10:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (concussion) has passed all his exams and has been cleared to play in the Week 6 game against the Washington Redskins Sunday, Oct. 12.

Footballguys view: Stanton is not a lock to start and we might not know until game-time if he will start or if he will back up Logan Thomas, so Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald owners can't get too excited yet, but things are looking up for Stanton.

  Cardinals | Cardinals QB a game-time decision?    Fri Oct 10, 04:47 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was throwing at around 80 percent and some decent velocity Friday, Oct. 10, but head coach Bruce Arians said all three quarterbacks could be active in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. A decision on who will start might not come until around game time, and it'll depend on health. Both Palmer and QB Drew Stanton (concussion) were limited Friday in practice and are questionable for Sunday, Oct. 12. Stanton has yet to take or pass his concussion test.

Footballguys view: In other words, don't wait around for your Cardinal receivers. Andre Ellington is the only viable option for fantasy lineups on Arizona this week.

Cardinals | Logan Thomas likely to start?    Fri Oct 10, 12:58 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas took all of the first-team repetitions in practice this week and appears poised to start in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. The Cardinals are still holding out hope that QB Drew Stanton (concussion) will be able to pass his concussion tests before Sunday, Oct. 12, though. Thomas went just 1-for-8 after replacing Stanton last week, and teammates have been impressed with his strong arm. The game plan isn't expected to change with Thomas under center, but they'll make sure not too much is put on his plate. Stanton remains asymptomatic and is hoping to play Sunday.

Footballguys view: Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald's value plummet despite the good matchup. Expect Andre Ellington to get as much work as he can handle on Sunday. Look for the Cardinals to sign another QB if Stanton is not cleared.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was listed as having limited participation in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton limited in practice    Wed Oct 8, 08:03 PM

Cardinals | Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton limited    Wed Oct 8, 04:28 PM

Arizona Cardinals QBs Carson Palmer (shoulder) and Drew Stanton (concussion) will both be limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8. Stanton isn't fully cleared from his concussion but can do some throwing.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals could be in trouble if one of these guys isn't ready to start in Week 6. Logan Thomas is a rookie project, and he's nowhere near ready to be the lead quarterback for an NFL team.

Cardinals | Logan Thomas seeing first-team reps    Wed Oct 8, 04:27 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas will take first-team repetitions in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Thomas could be the starter by default in Week 6. Carson Palmer still isn't all the way back from his shoulder injury, and Drew Stanton is going through the NFL's protocol for concussions. Thomas has a rocket arm, but his 'say it don't spray it' accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer seeing improvement    Wed Oct 8, 02:49 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) had 'pretty significant' improvement in his throwing shoulder Monday, Oct. 6. However, it's still undetermined if Palmer can play in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. Palmer will visit Dr. Greg Roskopf again Friday, Oct. 10, for another evaluation. A palpation technique was used to stimulate the sensory receptors in his shoulder, and the communication between the muscles and the nervous system has ignited the nerve. Palmer threw 40 to 50 passes Tuesday, Oct. 7, and he has yet to suffer a setback. 'It's a very delicate line,' Roskopf said. 'If he exceeds his tolerance level at the time, then it almost puts it back to sleep. It shuts it down again.'

Cardinals | Carson Palmer to practice?    Tue Oct 7, 08:56 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) could practice as soon as Thursday, Oct. 9, if his shoulder responds well after throwing Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals won't rush Palmer back, but they could sure use him this week. If Palmer can't play, then we'll see rookie Logan Thomas as the starter.

The Arizona Cardinals signed free-agent QB Dennis Dixon (Bills) Tuesday, Oct. 7, with both QBs Carson Palmer (shoulder) and Drew Stanton (concussion) questionable for Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Nobody knows when Palmer is going to be back, but the team is hopeful it will be soon. Stanton will go through the NFL's protocol for dealing with concussions before he is able to return. Rookie Logan Thomas could start in Week 6 if Palmer and Stanton are down.
