Cardinals | Arizona sticking with Josh Rosen    Tue Feb 12, 03:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen 'is our guy,' in the words of new head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals may say that now, but that doesn't mean they won't select QB Kyler Murray no.1 overall in the 2019 NFL draft. Rosen was a disappointment during his rookie year and there was some buzz that this new staff would want to go in a different direction. Kingsbury will bring the 'Air Raid' system to the Cardinals and quite frankly, Rosen is an odd fit. Stay tuned.

Arizona Cardinals assistant defensive line coach Chris Achuff on Friday, Feb. 1, was promoted to defensive line coach.

Footballguys view: Achuff joined the NFL ranks last year after a long stint at Baylor, including games against head coach Kliff Kingsbury's Texas Tech teams. He learned under Don Johnson in 2018 on Steve Wilks' staff. Wilks and Johnson coached together with the Bears on the their 2006 Super Bowl team and the time under a veteran coach should help him be ready for the promotion.

Cardinals | Fewer receptions for David Johnson?    Thu Jan 17, 09:22 PM

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson could see fewer targets in the passing game in head coach Kliff Kingsbury's offense, according to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com.

Footballguys view: An interesting situation to monitor here. In the article, Urban notes that while Kingsbury was coach at Texas Tech, no running back had more than 41 receptions in a single season. Johnson's fantasy stock already took a hit based on last year's performance.

Footballguys view: Joseph has gotten a bit of interest and could land somewhere as a defensive coordinator. He had two seasons as the Broncos head coach and fell short, leading to the first back-to-back losing seasons for Denver since 1972. Joseph was a one-year defensive coordinator with the Dolphins before he got a shot with the Broncos.

Cardinals | Kliff Kingsbury will coach Cardinals    Tue Jan 8, 03:06 PM

Former USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Footballguys view: Kingsbury was the OC for the Trojans for about a month. Now, his biggest task will be getting the best out of QB Josh Rosen. A former quarterback himself (Texas Tech), Kingsbury should bring an "Air Raid" offense to the NFL. The move has to be seen as a good one for Rosen after a disastrous rookie season that saw multiple coaches get fired. We'll see if Kingsbury can be a better pro head coach than he was a college head coach (35-40 record at Texas Tech).

Cardinals | JJ Nelson not expected back    Sat Jan 5, 12:28 PM

Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent WR JJ Nelson probably will not re-sign with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason especially after he was inactive for the last few games of the season, in the opinion of AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban.

Footballguys view: A speedy fifth-round pick for the Cardinals back in the 2015 NFL draft, Nelson has flashed here and there. He didn't do much of anything this season. Nelson appeared in 14 games but finished with a career low seven catches for 64 yards in 2018. We doubt the market for his services is that hot in the offseason.

Footballguys view: It only took one season to determine Wilks wasn't their guy. Wilks didn't get much of anything from either side of the ball in Arizona, and the team wants to see more progress from QB Josh Rosen. A one-year defensive coordinator with the Panthers, Wilks should get a job in the near future as an assistant somewhere.
