Cardinals | Drew Stanton should be ready for offseason workouts    Wed Jan 21, 12:39 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) 'should be ready to go' for the team's offseason workouts after suffering a right knee injury that caused him to miss the final three regular season games, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Awesome, but the team still isn't going to rush him back. Both he and Carson Palmer were banged up for the playoffs, and the team wasn't the same without them. Expect the team to be cautious with both quarterbacks as they return from injury.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer ahead of schedule    Sun Jan 18, 10:07 AM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (knee) said he feels great and that he is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Palmer started jogging last week and is lifting heavy weights with his legs.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Cardinals here. Palmer is confident that he will be with the team next season, and with $10 million left in dead money on his contract--we're confident as well. The Cardinals were not the same without Palmer on the field.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald talks going well    Fri Jan 16, 08:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald's preliminary contract talks continue to go well, according to team president Michael Bidwell, and Bidwell said he believes Fitzgerald will be a member of the Cardinals next year.

Footballguys view: A positive sign for the Cardinals here. Fitzgerald has a cap hit of $23.6 million in 2015 with $14.4 million in dead money. The team needs to find a way to lower that price tag this year.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald starts contract talks    Fri Jan 9, 01:22 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and the team have had positive preliminary contract talks, according to sources. However, money has yet to be discussed. Fitzgerald is due an $8 million bonus if he's on the roster March 17, and his cap figure for next year is scheduled to be $23.6 million. Arizona is hoping to lower that cap number by signing Fitzgerald to a new deal worth less money. The team also hasn't ruled out the thought of trading the star receiver. Releasing Fitzgerald would save the team $9.2 million in cap space in 2015.

Footballguys view: Stay tuned here folks. Initially, reports surfaced that Fitzgerald was unhappy with his role on the offense and he wanted out of Arizona. Now, he may restructure his contract to stay with the team. However, a smaller contract may make Fitzgerald easier to trade.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald situation progressing    Tue Jan 6, 06:45 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and the team have reportedly both made positive movement regarding Fitzgerald's contract.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Cardinals here. Fitzgerald is due an $8 million bonus in March, so the two sides have some time to get this done. Reportedly unhappy with his role on offense, Fitzgerald could be traded or released if a more team-friendly deal isn't worked out.

Footballguys view: In super super deep dynasty leagues, we're keeping an eye on Spadola here. He's got a nice size/speed combination, plus Spadola is explosive in and out of his breaks.

Cardinals | Jaron Brown avoids surgery    Mon Jan 5, 02:56 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Jaron Brown (shoulder) will not need surgery on his fractured scapula. The team hopes he will be able to return in time for organized team activities this offseason.

Footballguys view: Brown is an interesting player to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues. His speed and ball-tracking ability make him a nice fit for the Cardinals offense. With Larry Fitzgerald likely moving on in 2015, we could see Brown have a larger opportunity than some think.

Cardinals | Ryan Lindley will start playoff game    Thu Jan 1, 02:42 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley will be the starting quarterback in the Wild Card playoff game.

Footballguys view: In real-life NFL world, this isn't the worst case scenario as long as Lindley can avoid imploding and even then the Cardinals defense can still find ways to win. For fantasy purposes, we'd avoid Lindley if possible and not risk exposure to his meltdown. His ceiling isn't high but his floor is near the earth's molten core.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton ruled out    Thu Jan 1, 02:31 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) will not play in the Wild Card game.

Footballguys view: That leaves it all in the shaky hands of Ryan Lindley. The defense for Arizona should keep them in the game, as long as Lindley doesn't implode. As there is as good a chance of that happening as not, we'd avoid him if you're playing in a playoff fantasy league.

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald does not expect to be back with the team in 2015, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Looking at the numbers, this idea is not outlandish. Fitzgerald is also not happy with his role in the offense and that he is no longer a focal point.

Cardinals | Drew Stanton had knee surgery    Fri Dec 26, 11:46 AM

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) had arthroscopic surgery to fight an infection in his knee, according to a league source. Stanton may be done for the year.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals are very likely starting Ryan Lindley in a playoff game next week. The Cardinals could look into signing Dennis Dixon, who knows the Bruce Arians offense from their time together in Pittsburgh and earlier this year on the Arizona roster, or perhaps look to another veteran free agent to set up a storybook narrative for the wild card game at the NFC South champ next week.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals could win the #1 seed with some help, but it much more likely that they are the five seed and will travel to the NFC south winner, so there's little reason them to push injured players in Week 17.

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) will receive some practice time this week and has around an 85 percent chance of being ready for the team's first playoff game, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
