Falcons | Looking for big jump up in first round Thu Apr 18, 07:31 PM
Updating a previous report, the Atlanta Falcons appear to be targeting teams that are picking in the top five to try to acquire a top pick. The Falcons are believed to be interested in University of Oregon DE Dion Jordan and University of Alabama CB Dee Milliner.
| Footballguys view: The Falcons made a similar move in the 2011 NFL Draft to acquire WR Julio Jones when they jumped from 26th overall to 6th overall. That jump cost them two first-round picks (2011, 2012), two fourth-round picks (2011, 2012) and one second-round pick (2011). There's not a talent like Jones on the board this season so the price tag might be a little smaller. |

Falcons | Worked out Barkevious Mingo Mon Apr 8, 02:50 PM
The Atlanta Falcons have worked out Louisiana State LB Barkevious Mingo.

Falcons | Will still look to TE in draft Fri Apr 5, 10:25 PM
Despite the fact Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez is returning for one final season in 2013, general manager Thomas Dimitroff said the team will still look to tight end in the upcoming NFL Draft. 'You don't deviate from your plan when you go into the draft after bringing a guy back. We don't know if we are going to have Tony Gonzalez past one year. Our eyes are still on many positions in this draft and there is no question - this may be selling it out a little bit - but we continue to look at the tight end (position),' Dimitroff said Friday, April 5.
| Footballguys view: It's a good TE class this year and it's wise for the Falcons to look to the future at the position. Gonzalez is entering his final season and they need to start grooming someone to take over for him in 2014. |

| Footballguys view: We don't see the two sides having a problem coming together on a new deal. He should make somewhere between what Joe Flacco does and what Aaron Rodgers will. |

Falcons | Not closing door on John Abraham Fri Apr 5, 10:24 PM
Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff indicated Friday, April 5, the team hasn't closed the door on free-agent DE John Abraham, and they could welcome him back. 'We never say never, there is a lot on the horizon. We have some decisions to make across the organization, but we never say never as far as acquiring or bringing people back,' Dimitroff said.
| Footballguys view: The market has been cool for Abraham's services, with the Broncos, 49ers, and Titans showing interest in the veteran DE. He could come back to the Falcons if the price was right. |

Falcons | Met with Cornellius Carradine Thu Apr 4, 02:23 PM
The Atlanta Falcons met with Florida State DE Cornellius Carradine earlier this week.
| Footballguys view: 'Tank' is seen as a top 50 pick who was just coming into his own when a knee injury (torn ACL) ended his season last November. If healthy he can be a great pass rusher at the pro level. He recognizes and diagnoses plays quickly as they happen and has a nose for the football. Carradine is still raw and needs to develop multiple pass rush moves. |
