Atlanta Falcons WR Harry Douglas (foot) had his MRI come back negative on the injured foot he suffered Thursday, Sept. 18. The team will not update his status until sometime next week.

Footballguys view: Good news for a passing offense that already has a banged up Roddy White. As long as Julio Jones is healthy though, Matt Ryan should be good.

Footballguys view: Jones was more than solid, he was spectacular in a blowout win on Thursday night. The Falcons were without Roddy White, and that just meant more targets for Jones.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (hamstring) isn't expected to be active for the Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, Sept. 18, in the opinion of CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

Footballguys view: White had a great Week 1 but was only average Week 2 against the Bengals. Ultimately that's what you'll get week to week--sometimes up, sometimes down. Thursday night looks bad, so get another option.

Falcons | Jakes Matthews expected in Week 3    Mon Sep 15, 10:24 PM

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) is expected to play in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Mike Smith said Monday, Sept. 15. Matthews was listed as a limited participant in practice, and he is expected to be a full participant Tuesday, Sept. 16. If he plays, OT Gabe Carimi would shift back to right tackle, where he was rotating with OT Lamar Holmes.

Footballguys view: Getting Matthews back would be huge for the Falcons offense. He's a much better blind-side protector than Carimi is, and Matt Ryan will be better protected. Ryan was sacked twice and harassed all game against the Bengals in Week 2.

Falcons | Roddy White: Goal 30 points per game    Fri Sep 12, 12:57 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said the team's goal coming into the year was to put up 30 points per game. Since 2004, 12 teams have averaged 30 or more points per game, and those teams combined for a record of 155-37. Only one of those teams, the 2004 Kansas City Chiefs, failed to make the playoffs. The Falcons' highest average with QB Matt Ryan was 26.2 in 2002, when they finished 13-3.

Footballguys view: The Falcons can do if the offensive line is even functional. Devin Hester adds another speedy threat in the wide receiver corps, and Matt Ryan looked as good as ever in Week 1.

Falcons | Jake Matthews ruled out    Fri Sep 12, 12:34 PM

Falcons | Jake Matthews to test ankle    Fri Sep 12, 09:17 AM

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) will test his injured ankle on the field Friday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: While Matthews playing would be a nice surprise for the Falcons, Matt Ryan played out of his mind last week and overcame a bad offensive line. He's still worth a start with or without Matthews.

Falcons | Jake Matthews misses another practice    Thu Sep 11, 03:55 PM

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: This is a concern, though if the Bengals don't have "Don't Von-TAZE me Bro" Burfict, it's not as bad as it could be. But with Sam Baker out, losing Jake Matthews would be a big problem.

Falcons | Roddy White limited    Thu Sep 11, 03:54 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Footballguys view: We'll watch this but it's probably precautionary. We have Rowdy Roddy as a WR2 this week, despite also feeling that Julio Jones will still have a big, fat WR1 game.

Falcons | Jake Matthews doesn't practice    Wed Sep 10, 04:04 PM

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Matthews can make it back onto the field to protect Matt Ryan's blindside. Without Matthews, the team would turn to Gabe Carimi at left tackle--and that's not what you want facing a tough defense like Cincinnati. The Falcons offense has to flow through Ryan, and we still like him as a QB1 top-10 play in Week 2.

Falcons | Jake Matthews' status uncertain    Wed Sep 10, 10:55 AM

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 2, in the opinion of beat writer Vaughn McClure.

Falcons | Roddy White to manage knee issue    Wed Sep 10, 10:42 AM

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (knee) left the Week 1 game due to an ailment with his left knee but returned to the game. White admitted that he had his knee drained during the offseason but said an MRI wasn't required.

Footballguys view: It's something for fantasy owners to monitor, but that doesn't mean he should be on your bench. In fact, White is a big part of the passing game and the Falcons will have to flow through Matt Ryan and company if they want to stay on the winning track in 2014. White played in 67 of the 72 offensive snaps in Week 1.

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews' (ankle) high ankle sprain is on his left ankle. His status will be updated Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to head coach Mike Smith.

Footballguys view: High ankle sprains are known to linger if not given enough time to heal. Matthews may be out of the lineup. Stay tuned to the injury report coming out later in the week.

Falcons | Matt Ryan sets team record    Sun Sep 7, 08:55 PM

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for a team record 448 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 1 overtime win against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Sept. 7. He also eclipsed the team record for career touchdown passes (156), surpassing Steve Bartkowski (154).

Footballguys view: Ryan should be returned to the top of the second tier of QBs just below Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees. Next week brings a tough game at Cincinnati, but the Falcons offense looks very dangerous with a myriad of weapons, including Devin Hester.

Falcons | Jake Matthews has high ankle sprain    Sun Sep 7, 07:56 PM

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain in the Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints, according to a league source. The injury isn't thought to be serious.

Footballguys view: The Falcons have one of the worst offensive line situations in the league, but like Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan seems to rise above his circumstances. The tough Saints defense was no match for Ryan's passing attack in the Georgia Dome. The Bengals defense on the road is a tough draw next week, but Ryan has to be in coming off of the best Week 1 QB game so far.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) says he is 100 percent healthy heading into the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 7, after missing most of last season with a broken foot.

Footballguys view: Start Jones with confidence in what should be a good test for the Falcons against the rising Saints defense.

Falcons | Steven Jackson ready to go    Sat Sep 6, 02:19 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Steven Jackson (hamstring) will be healthy going into Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter said Jackson is in good shape, has looked fast and has fresh legs.

Footballguys view: We could see Jackson having a limited amount of carries with two high-powered passing offenses taking the field. He'll do pretty well with what he gets but the limited carries means he gets stuck as a RB3, though at least he is a very reliable back.
