Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 17 vs BAL (6 / 4 / 86 / 0 rec)
Higgins' first catch was a 40-yarder deep down the middle of the field in the second quarter. Credit goes to Baker Mayfield, who did a great job avoiding pressure and buying time before firing a strike down the field to Higgins. Higgins' next catch was an 11-yarder on 3rd-and-8, where he did a great job diving for the first down following the short pass. He then drew a red zone target at the Baltimore 19-yard line, taking a short screen for two yards. He followed that up with a 33-yard gain where he took a short screen and raced down the left sideline, getting a great downfield block from David Njoku. Higgins didn't score in the game but he gets an assist on Antonio Callaway's one-yard score. Higgins faked as though he was going to pick Callaway's defender at the goal line but got out of the way at the last second. It caused Callaway's defender to pause long enough to spring Callaway free for the touchdown.
2018 Week 16 vs CIN (7 / 6 / 60 / 1 rec)
Higgins turned in one of his best games of the season and made one of the plays of the game on his 17-yard touchdown reception. On the scoring play, he caught a short pass from Baker Mayfield and took care of the rest on his own. As he raced toward the right pylon, he went airborne and was able to extend the ball out to knock over the pylon before tumbling out of bounds. He could have had a much bigger game but he had a 55-yard reception overturned after a questionable offensive pass interference call. It looked like he slightly pushed off against the defender but it didn't appear to merit a flag.
2018 Week 14 vs CAR (3 / 2 / 19 / 0 rec)
Higgins had an up-and-down afternoon. He caught a short screen in the first quarter but Carolina forced a fumble. He bounced back to make a great 16-yard catch in the second quarter. He did a great job at high-pointing the pass for the completion. Later on that drive, Higgins committed a bad drop on a pass that could have gone for a touchdown. He was wide open down the middle inside the Carolina 10-yard line but simply dropped an easy catch. There was a good chance he would have been able to run for the touchdown had he made the grab.
2018 Week 13 vs HOU (4 / 4 / 62 / 1 rec)
Higgins wasn't heard from until the third quarter but he made his mark on the game. Higgins caught a 19-yard pass on the team's first drive of the third quarter. He then came back in the fourth quarter and hauled in a 21-yard pass. He was wide open in the middle of the field and had no issues securing the easy catch. Higgins caught Baker Mayfield's lone touchdown pass, a 17-yard strike in the back right corner of the end zone. He got behind his defender on a double move and did a nice job getting both feet down in bounds for the score.
2018 Week 9 vs KC (4 / 3 / 19 / 0 rec)
Higgins returned to action after missing just under a month with an MCL sprain. He caught three passes in the game, with two receptions coming on consecutive plays during the second quarter. He was mostly quiet after that, with his final catch coming in the fourth quarter. Higgins returning to action could take some looks from rookie Antonio Callaway.
2018 Week 5 vs BAL (4 / 3 / 66 / 1 rec)
Higgins was having an excellent game but had to leave during the fourth quarter with a knee injury. The team has yet to update his status, so he can be considered questionable for Week 6 at this time. Before the injury, he caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield. It was an easy catch as he was wide open in the end zone on the play. He also hauled in a 21-yard pass on 3rd-and-16 during the first quarter.
2018 Week 4 vs OAK (5 / 4 / 61 / 0 rec)
Higgins came up with some big catches for the Browns in Week 4. He converted a 3rd-and-12 in the first quarter with a nice 21-yard reception. In the third quarter, Higgins ripped off a six-yard and a 23-yard catch on the team's first series. Higgins appears to have the trust of Baker Mayfield and should remain involved in the offense, especially in the middle of the field.
2018 Week 3 vs NYJ (3 / 3 / 32 / 0 rec)
Higgins continues to work behind Antonio Callaway as the Browns' No. 3 receiver. That being said, he made some big plays for his team in Week 3. Not targeted until the third quarter, Higgins caught a short five-yard pass and then later snared a high pass for a nine-yard gain. In the fourth quarter, he had a nice catch down the seam which went for 19 yards. Higgins showed awareness when he alertly scooped up a Duke Johnson fumble in the fourth quarter.
2018 Week 2 vs NO (7 / 5 / 47 / 0 rec)
Higgins saw an uptick in targets following the Browns' decision to move on from Josh Gordon. Higgins tied for the team lead with seven targets in the game. His first catch went for a seven-yard gain on a slant, although he fumbled at the end of the play. Fortunately for him, the fumble went out of bounds, allowing the Browns to keep possession. His biggest play came in the third quarter on a 16-yard reception off of a play action pass. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Higgins saw three straight targets but was unable to connect with Tyrod Taylor on any of them. He punctuated that series with a drop on the final target. Higgins should see more work with Gordon out of the picture, although he is likely to be third in the pecking order behind Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway.
