Alex Smith led NFL QBs on passes thrown with the most yards of separation. While not a bad stat on its own, it also indicates an issue Smith had that Patrick Mahomes doesn't: throwing into tight windows without hesitation when the read is correct. Robinson and Chris Conley are receivers who earned draft-day selections for making plays on targets Smith rarely throws. Whether it's Robinson or Conley, look for Mahomes to get one of them more involved in 2018.

Robinson is a third-year veteran who earned more playing time in 2017. A tall receiver with a wide catch radius and skill in the open field, Robinson will have a chance to compete with Chris Conley for the starting split end role. This receiver spot wasn't the most productive of the three positions routinely on the field during the past three years, but the change from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes could alter whom Mahomes has the most rapport. Monitor Robinson's camp and if he earns the starting job ahead of Conley, Robinson will at least be worth a late-round pick. (May 13)

Chiefs | Demarcus Robinson to emerge in 2018? (Thu May 17, 10:58 PM) - Kansas City Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson's rapport with QB Patrick Mahomes and the presence of WR Tyreek Hill and WR Sammy Watkins on the outside should allow him to exploit defenses underneath this season, according to Gregg Rosenthal of

Our View: It's hard to say exactly how much faith to put in second-year quarterback Mahomes. This sounds promising, but let's see this against actual defenders before we get too excited. That said it's worth noting even this early on, especially for those of you who own Mahomes in Dynasty leagues.
