Week 21: vs New England Patriots

All WR vs NE

FBG says: Good matchup. Nick Foles has been a roller coaster this season as he looked extremely shaky heading into the playoffs but ultimately has been tremendous in the playoffs as he has completed over 75% of his passes in each of his two playoff games. The reason for this is that the Eagles have simplified the offense and have focused on shorter higher percentage passes to Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz, and the running backs in Corey Clement and Jay Ajayi. The Eagles have moved away from Nelson Agholor who was a primary receiver with Carson Wentz but has largely been a non-factor with Nick Foles outside of going back to his slot receiving role that he had last season. The Patriots secondary has been one that has struggled for most of the year as they allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks as they allowed 270 yards per game and 1.5 touchdowns per game. These numbers are a little bit skewed as teams who are behind ultimately are going to be forced to throw more, but the Patriots secondary is one that is not great as Eric Rowe out of the slot and Malcolm Butler have both struggled this season. The one area that the Patriots have been very strong at this season is against the tight end which could cause issues for the Eagles as they will likely rely on Zach Ertz in this game, but the Patriots create game plans to take the tight end out of the game as they did with Travis Kelce, Jared Cook, the Chargers tight ends, Charles Clay, Delanie Walker. They held all of these tight ends to under 50 yards as Patrick Chung and Devin McCourty have done a great job as linebackers matching up against these tight ends.

Recent Game Summaries

2017 Week 8 vs SF (3 / 2 / 30 / 0 rec)

Hollins' continues to increase his role as a deep threat slowly supplanting Torrey Smith. Hollins did have a 24-yard reception in this game, but it is encouraging to see his role continue to grow as he had a season-high of 18 snaps in this game while Torrey Smith had a season-low 32 snaps.

2017 Week 7 vs WAS (1 / 1 / 64 / 1 rec)

Hollins only received one target, but he was able to make the most of it today. The speedy rookie receiver took a 64-yard bomb from Wentz into the end zone. Hollins outran his coverage down the sideline and Wentz hit him in stride on the 4-yard line. The ball traveled 60 yards in the air for the easy touchdown. Hollins was not targeted again for the rest of the game but made his impact felt early. The Eagles offense shows no signs of slowing down but there is a lot of competition for targets for the rest of the season.
