Week 11: at Washington Redskins

All WR vs WAS

FBG says: Neutral matchup. The New York Jets' passing attack has been one of the league's worst in 2019 thanks to inconsistency both under center and in the trenches. Quarterback Sam Darnold missed about one month of action earlier this season due to a bout with mononucleosis, which forced the since-released Luke Falk into action. These weeks with Falk at the helm have tanked the team's season-long passing totals, but Darnold has not been much better himself. Darnold ranks 34th out of 34 qualified quarterbacks in adjusted yards per attempt this season. Jamison Crowder is the most-targeted pass-catcher in the Jets' offense. Working primarily out of the slot, Crowder thrives on short and intermediate routes. Elsewhere, Demaryius Thomas and Robby Anderson post highly inconsistent production in the passing-attack. Thomas works on short, intermediate, and deep routes, which provides a safer floor of production each week. On the other hand, Anderson is the Jets' primary deep-threat this season. Anderson's volume of targets is relatively consistent, but low, averaging approximately five targets per game over the last month. Anderson's low catch-rate on these downfield targets leaves his weekly production heavily dependent upon whether or not he hauls in his few highly-valuable targets, making him an unreliable fantasy producer. The Washington Redskins' pass defense has faced an exceptionally low number of pass attempts this season, but they have been shredded when the opposition has attempted to move the ball through the air. The Redskins rank 23rd in the NFL in adjusted yards per pass attempt allowed this season, and their personnel throughout the defense is uninspiring. In the trenches, the Redskins lack a standout pass-rusher to take advantage of the Jets' weakness up-front this weekend. Then, at the second-level, Jon Bostic plays nearly every down for the Redskins, but he grades as one of the worst coverage linebackers in the league. In the secondary, the lone standout for Washington's defense this season has been cornerback Quinton Dunbar. Dunbar has been an elite coverage cornerback, consistently locking down the offense's left side of the field. At safety, offseason acquisition Landon Collins has disappointed in coverage this season. He was brought in on a record contract with the expectation that he would provide the all-around production he did in New York for years, but his impact in the pass-game has been minimal this season. Overall, the Redskins pass defense is one of the weakest units in the league on a per-play basis. Their lack of talented pass-rushers bodes well for the New York Jets this weekend, as their most significant weakness is in pass-protection. Expect the Jets' passing attack to post strong numbers this weekend, relative to its normal levels, in a good matchup against a floundering Redskins' defense.

Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 2 vs CLE (2 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)

Bellamy didn't see much action, and only made one catch in the fourth quarter. With so many screens being thrown, it didn't seem like Bellamy was part of the gameplan.

2019 Week 1 vs BUF (1 / 1 / 15 / 0 rec)

Bellamy's one catch came in the first quarter and the journeyman receiver showed some decent speed after the catch. He will remain more of a special teams player.
