Summary

Kerrigan is coming off a career year in which he garnered 51 solo tackles, 13 assists, and 13.5 sacks which were good enough to place him amongst the top 30 linebackers in balanced scoring leagues. With Brian Orakpo gone in free agency, Washington will look to Kerrigan to be their cornerstone defensive player. There may be some concerns with Orakpo's departure negatively affected Kerrigan's performance, but Kerrigan managed a sack in six of the eight games he played last year without Orakpo. That said, I wouldn't be too concerned with that issue. Look for another top 30-35 season out of the fifth year player out of Purdue. (May 20)

Redskins | Ryan Kerrigan signs extension (Wed Jul 29, 01:29 PM) - Washington Redskins LB Ryan Kerrigan signed a five-year contract extension Wednesday, July 29, worth $11.5 million per season, according to a source. The deal includes a $16 million signing bonus.

Our View: Kerrigan has dominated during his time in the league. Set to play on his fifth-year option that would pay him roughly $7 million this season, Washington decided it was best to lock up a guy who hasn't missed a start since he came into the league back in 2011.
