Week 14: at Detroit Lions
All WR vs DET
Mark and Joe say: Bad matchup.
Brian Hoyer was under center for the Bears back in Week Four (the last time these teams met) - he's on IR now and Matt Barkley is the current signal-caller. Barkley has won two straight games, with 28/54 for 316 yards passing, three TDs and two interceptions thrown vs. Tennessee and then 11/18 for 192 yards, zero TDs and zero interceptions tossed vs. San Francisco. Marquess Wilson, the hero of Week 13, went out with a groin injury after dropping his only target last week (sinking many optimistic DFS enthusiasts with a tough zero) - Joshua Bellamy (six targets for 4/93/0 receiving) and Cameron Meredith (four for 3/67/0) were the only receivers over 20 yards last week.
The Lions' pass defense averages 256.6 net yards allowed per game (20th in the NFL) with 22 passing scores given out to date, vs. 10 interceptions (15th in the NFL) and 21 sacks generated (tied for 26th in the league). From Week 10 to Week 13 of the 2016 season (over the last four weeks, but includes 10 teams on bye during that time span - each team has at least three games played in the last four weeks), Detroit has averaged 13.2 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (least in the NFL); and 15.5 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (second-least); with 6.7 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (17th in the league). Last week, the Lions gave up 31/44 for 319 yards, zero TDs and three interceptions (with one sack for -7 yards) to Drew Brees - the same Brees who has the most completions, attempts, TD passes and passing yards in the entire NFL this year. Yes, Detroit's pass defense is for real, folks.
