Denver Broncos DT Sione Fua (calf) missed practice Saturday, Jan. 25, while PK Matt Prater (illness) was sent home by coach John Fox for the third consecutive day because of a virus. All other players practiced, including DT Mitch Unrein (knee) and RB Knowshon Moreno (ribs).
| Footballguys view: The Broncos are gearing up for the Super Bowl. This week we should see both Fua and Prater return to practice at some point. It's a good sign that Unrein and Moreno both practiced on Saturday. |

He'll be out a minimum of four to six weeks, and he'll be placed on Injured Reserve. DT Frank Kearse will be promoted from the practice squad. Head coach Ron Rivera said DTs Sione Fua, Andre Neblett or Kearse will start in Week 13.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera expressed concerned over the team's defense after the first unit surrendered 269 yards and 24 points in the first half alone Thursday, Aug. 25, versus the Cincinnati Bengals. 'I'm very concerned,' Rivera said of the defense. 'I think the biggest thing is looking at where we are in terms of who's on the field. We are playing some young guys and they need to get some experience very quickly. Our two starting tackles (DL Sione Fua and DL Terrell McClain) are both rookies and at times they played like rookies and at times they played like veterans. They are a little bit away but we're going to live and die with these situations.'

Carolina Panthers DL Sione Fua, the team's third-round pick in the NFL Draft, is expected to play nose tackle. However, he can play the three technique if needed. He started 31 games at Stanford, playing 18 at strong-side linebacker and 13 at nose tackle.
