Recent Game Summaries

2017 Week 15 vs PHI (3 / 2 / 70 / 2 rec)

Tavarres King only managed two catches in this game but he made them count as they both went for touchdowns. King used his quickness and excellent route running to get wide open on a slant n' go route in the redzone. He faked inside perfectly before breaking to the corner and easily scoring in bounds. King later took a seam route all the way down the field, making a terrific catch with a nearby defender before burning the Eagle secondary and extending just enough to secure the touchdown. King has always been a boom/bust player and not reliable as a fantasy player. He has incredible raw talent down the field but his targets are usually few and far between. This level of production is his ceiling, his floor is usually much lower however.

2017 Week 13 vs OAK (9 / 4 / 23 / 0 rec)

Tavarres King got his hands on a few short passes in this game, demonstrating he can do a little more than just run deep. He caught several balls on curl patterns, showing solid hands to secure the pass in tight coverage. He did draw a defensive pass interference call as he attempted to run downfield, which shows the respect that the defense has for his speed. King has a small frame as a receiver and excels at getting down the field in a hurry but the Giants could ill afford to throw deep for most of this game. He did a respectable job in his role but isn't anywhere close to being fantasy relevant. Engram and Shepard simply warrant more targets right now and King cannot compete with his position in the depth chart.

2017 Week 12 vs WAS (4 / 2 / 36 / 0 rec)

King was the leading receiver somehow for the Giants with only two catches for 36 yards which says a lot about the state of the offense. King had one additional catch negated by a hold on the offensive line but it would not have changed his stat line by much. Manning was off target a lot in this game and missed King a few times. He tried to hit his receiver on a deep play down the sideline but the pass was wildly overthrown and possibly intentionally. His biggest play was a catch & run over the middle in garbage time as the game was decided, the Redskins were playing fairly conservatively at this point. King is very unlikely to be worth playing in fantasy, especially with the Giants offense in the state it is in currently.

2017 Week 11 vs KC (5 / 3 / 48 / 0 rec)

Tavarres King was a little more involved in the Giants passing attack on Sunday and made some nice plays. King was the target of a fade pass in the back of the endzone which he was not able to secure but did manage to draw a defensive pass interference penalty to help set up a touchdown. King caught a curl route over the middle and almost hauled in a deep pass along the sideline but just couldn't quite keep his feet in bounds. King was somewhat fortunate with a call on a deep out pattern, the ball was knocked loose but he was ruled down by contact. His final catch was a successful slant over the middle from Manning, catching it perfectly in stride. King has improved as a receiver, getting his hands on shorter routes and not just a deep threat/someone they give end around reverse plays to occasionally. The opportunity he has due to the injuries the Giants sustained at receiver should not be forgotten but he has played well.

2017 Week 10 vs SF (4 / 2 / 22 / 0 rec, 1 / 11 / 0 rush)

Tavarres King showed some flashes with his incredible athletic talent but isn't anywhere near a complete receiver to pose a consistent threat right now. He got an end around play in the first half, finding enough room on the outside to secure a first down. King got wide open on an in breaking pattern over the middle, using his speed to achieve separation before securing the first down. He got his hands on a deep pass along the sideline from Manning but he took a big hit after and the ball subsequently was knocked loose. King is a specialty player that the Giants use for certain plays and like to get the ball in his hands from time to time. His hands/size/route running don't resemble that of a typical well rounded receiver unfortunately.

2017 Week 9 vs LAR (6 / 3 / 33 / 1 rec)

Tavarres King only had 3 catches on Sunday but still managed to score. He should have had more, some poor QB play let him down. King ran a variety of routes, hauling in a comeback route early in the game on the sideline to secure a first down. King did an excellent job of unravelling in the back of the endzone, which allowed Manning to find him for the score. King was open again in the second half deep down the field but Manning overthrew the ball out of the back of the endzone. King has above average speed/quickness for a wide receiver, so big plays down the field are always possible with him. The production will likely be wildly inconsistent however, so fantasy owners should not look to play him.

2017 Week 7 vs SEA (3 / 1 / 1 / 0 rec, 1 / -8 / 0 rush)

Tavarres King got two touches against the Seahawks but they resulted in negative yards overall. King took an end around rushing play from Manning but this blew up quickly as he was taken down 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage. He got his hands on a screen pass short later but had no room to work with after the catch. King was open deep down the sideline early in the game but Manning underthrew the pass and it was broken up by the Seahawk defender. King has speed to burn but is struggling to find an identity in this offense. He is pretty raw as a receiver but the Giants need any help they can get as their corps is very thin right now.

2017 Week 6 vs DEN (3 / 1 / 7 / 0 rec)

Tavarres King caught only one ball on a screen pass in this game. The Giants focus on offense was to run the ball as much as possible, so guys like King did not get many targets on Sunday. King has a lot of opportunity to grow as a young receiver due to the injuries the Giants sustained last week. He has plenty of speed and appeal as a deep threat but we will have to see him progress as a route runner first.
