Latest News

Dolphins | Lamar Miller in lead (Tue Sep 2, 10:24 AM) - Updating an earlier report, Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is listed ahead of RB Knowshon Moreno on the depth chart the team released Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Our View: Miller is the starter and Moreno is the backup. It should stay that way unless Miller begins to struggle. We are interested in seeing how this entire offense looks under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller needs consistency (Tue Sep 2, 09:23 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller totaled nearly 20 percent (140 yards) of his season yardage total (709 yards) on his longest four carries of the 2013 season. He had a 3.3 yards-per-carry average in the other 173 carries. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said the team is looking for him to be more productive and decisive. Miller has improved his pass blocking but needs to break more tackles and make would-be tacklers miss.

Our View: Miller is playing a LeSean McCoy-like role in the Lazor offense. The new scheme is loosely based on what Chip Kelly has done with the Eagles. This makes Miller a high upside player if he can finally play up to his potential.

Dolphins | Knowshon Moreno to top Lamar Miller? (Wed Aug 27, 11:45 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno is expected to have more carries than Lamar Miller, in the opinion of Omar Kelly.

Our View: Kelly hasn't always been the most accurate Dolphins beat writer, but he has covered the team for a long time, and Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Press also said Moreno was a better fantasy pick than Lamar Miller. Miller's early summer buzz has died down, and Moreno might be a value in PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Top RB job still up for grabs (Wed Aug 27, 01:46 AM) - Miami Dolphins RBs Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno split first-team snaps in practice the past two days, and head coach Joe Philbin said Tuesday, Aug. 26, that the job is open. However, he was more effusive and expansive discussing Miller than Moreno this week. 'I like everything Lamar has done since he's gotten here,' Philbin said. 'He's had an excellent offseason and camp. I like everything he's done since April 21.'

Our View: This backfield is about as close to 50-50 as any in the league. Moreno is clearly the superior back in passing situations, but Miller has a lot more juice in his legs. If the offensive line and new scheme come together quickly, both could have flex/RB2 value, but right now neither offers much upside in drafts.

Dolphins | Knowshon Moreno might play (Thu Aug 21, 12:49 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) said Wednesday, Aug. 20, that he feels good. The team wants to see him practice Thursday, Aug. 21, before deciding if he will play in the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, against the Dallas Cowboys.
