Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (elbow) will miss at least four weeks, but it could be as many as eight weeks depending on his rehab. He recently said he expected to miss four weeks during the Week 5 bye, so Week 9 is a good target date for his return.

News you need to know

From Mark Wimer's Monday injury report (Sun Sep 28): Moreno didn't practice last week due to his injured elbow, and he was inactive on Sunday after being listed as out on Friday.

From the upgrade/downgrade report (Mon Sep 29): Moreno could be back after the Dolphins' Week 5 bye, and their running game still looks like one of the better attacks in the league. Lamar Miller has been good in Moreno's stead, but Moreno should be at least the 1/1A when he returns. Add in a passing game that finally appears to be mostly functional with Ryan Tannehill and the production should continue to flow in the Miami running game. If you can spare the spot, add Moreno before buzz about his return builds.

2014 Week 2 vs BUF (1 / 4 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

It was an unfortunate afternoon for Knowshon Moreno on Sunday, as he was forced from the action just one carry into his afternoon. It was a typical tough Moreno run for a first down, but he came down awkwardly on his elbow and was in immediate pain. It's been diagnosed as a dislocated elbow, with a caveat that there could be a fracture as well. His timetable is a fairly wide 4-8 weeks, so it's certainly a situation to monitor. It was obvious he was the best pure runner on the team and a perfect fit for the scheme. It'll be worth watching how quickly he rehabs, as he's certain to be dropped in a number of leagues. He'll be well worth stashing if he can beat his timetable and make it back to the field sometime in maybe late October.

The team hopes Moreno will be able to return at some point in October.

Our View: Moreno could be out until Week 9, as he said he thinks he is four weeks again. Lamar Miller is going to retain great value coming out of the Dolphins bye this week.

Dolphins | Knowshon Moreno out for Week 4 (Wed Sep 24, 08:45 PM) - As expected, Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (elbow) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders in London.

Our View: Nobody is shocked by this. Moreno is unlikely to return for awhile due to this ankle injury. Lamar Miller is the team's featured back, and we like him as a RB2 with RB1 upside this week against the Raiders.
