| Footballguys view: Williams responds well to coaching as he's a team-first, do-everything type of guy. His all-purpose skill set should help him earn a roster spot, but we don't see great skill from Williams. Yes, he can take advantage when the hole is huge but he has a difficult time creating on his own, doesn't have breakaway speed or overwhelming power. We expect the Dolphins to add a RB to the mix (Arian Foster?) later this offseason. |

'I think it's just a matter of him getting used to playing with it in practice. He's got to get a feel of it and carrying the ball with it, pass protection,' coach Joe Philbin said. 'Obviously we just can't have him in there when we are running the ball or free release him all the time. Those are things we take the practice week to figure out.' When he returns, he'll likely compete with RB Daniel Thomas for the third-down back role.

Williams was undrafted out of Oklahoma this year after being kicked off the Sooners football team for multiple violations of team rules. At 5'11" 222 pounds, Williams has a lightning fast 10-yard split (1.56) and can break off big runs (see 95-yard TD run in 2012 Cotton Bowl). He's got the upside to be an eventual starter, and his receiving ability makes him a great fit in OC Bill Lazor's offense. |

Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (undisclosed) is fighting a medical issue during minicamp this week, according to a source. The source said Moreno has been dealing with the undisclosed injury for a couple of weeks and needed time off to recover. Moreno has barely been involved in 7-on-7 and team drills during last week's organized team activities and this week's mandatory minicamp. He's spent the time working behind RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas, and even RBs Mike Gillislee and Damien Williams have seen more repetitions than Moreno.
| Footballguys view: Stop us if you've heard this before: Moreno showed up to camp somewhat out of shape. Now you can add some mysterious injury to the mix. His ranking is a bit all over the board right now, anywhere from a very low-end RB2 to a low-end RB3. If Moreno cannot get his act together, he will lose at shot at the starting job - and potentially a roster spot - to one of the other backs listed here. He needs to get right by camp and you need to be cautious when drafting. |

Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno spent most of his time in practice Wednesday, June 18, either holding his helmet or working on the side with a trainer. RBs Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee have been taking nearly all of the first-team snaps in offseason workouts, but Moreno isn't worried about his status. 'We're all pushing each other,' Moreno said. 'I'm working on the little things and competing. Everything will take care of itself. I just want to do what I have to do to help my team win.'

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman was defending the fact that the team ran just three times in the entire second half in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills. 'I just did not feel at any point of those 12 carries our longest run was three yards,' Sherman said Monday, Dec. 23. 'We really haven't had many explosive runs this year which is not good, we need to continue to build towards that. A lack of productivity in the run game caused me to veer off into another direction.' RB Lamar Miller had just three totes for eight yards, while RB Daniel Thomas averaged less than a yard per carry, rushing for six yards on nine runs.
