RB Daniel Thomas - Free Agent
|6-0, 230||Born: 10-29-1987||College: Kansas State||Drafted: Round 2|
SummaryDaniel Thomas looked like a guy on the way out, until Lamar Miller stumbled when he got his shot. Thomas doesn't do anything particularly special, is a plodding runner an is likely to be overshadowed by both Miller and second-year back Mike Gillislee. If Thomas makes the roster, he will be no better than a bench warmer barring a spate of injuries, and not worth a roster spot in any but the deepest fantasy leagues. (May 23)

Latest NewsDolphins | Daniel Thomas released (Sat Aug 30, 11:48 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas was released Saturday, Aug. 30. Our View: Thomas was supposed to be a Michael Bush-like prospect when he came out of Kansas State. The Dolphins cooled on his services, and he never lived up to his potential. Thomas could draw interest from other teams out there, but we can't imagine the market will be white-hot for him.

If Thomas loses out and is cut, the team would save $815,565 against the cap. Our View: Williams is the one to look at in deep dynasty leagues, and we would be surprised if Thomas somehow survived in Miami for another season.
link to story Dolphins | Daniel Thomas to play (Tue Aug 26, 10:14 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) will make his preseason debut in the final game Thursday, Aug. 28. Our View: Thomas will be playing for his Dolphins life. Undrafted rookie Damien Williams has been looking worthy of a roster spot, so Thomas will have to impress to keep his South Beach address.
link to story Dolphins | Damien Williams jumps ahead (Fri Aug 22, 08:34 AM) - Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams has leapfrogged RBs Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee on the depth chart. Our View: Deep dynasty owners should be all over Williams. Re-draft owners should keep his name on waiver-wire speed dial. Williams was undrafted out of Oklahoma this year after being kicked off the Sooners football team for multiple violations of team rules. At 5'11" 222 pounds, Williams has a lightning fast 10-yard split (1.56) and can break off big runs (see 95-yard TD run in 2012 Cotton Bowl). He's got the upside to be an eventual starter, and his receiving ability makes him a great fit in OC Bill Lazor's offense.
