Dolphins | Jabar Gaffney adjusting to offense     Thu Oct 25, 10:45 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Jabar Gaffney, who has yet to play a game since signing with the team, acknowledges it has been a challenge learning the team's up-tempo, West Coast offense. 'Just picking it up and seeing the signals like I'm hearing it,' Gaffney said. 'I'm always used to just hearing the play calls in the huddle. Now you got to see the signal, and that's how you know the call.' The Dolphins have yet to determine Gaffney's role, but he is open to anything. 'I'm comfortable inside or outside,' Gaffney said. 'I can play either one. It doesn't really matter.'

The Miami Dolphins have declared RB Daniel Thomas, WR Jabar Gaffney, TE Michael Egnew, QB Pat Devlin, CB Richard Marshall, WR Rishard Matthews, OT Will Yeatman inactive for Week 6.

Dolphins | Jabar Gaffney working hard to learn offense    Sat Oct 6, 02:25 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Jabar Gaffney said he has been staying up late each day in order to learn the playbook better and make a contribution in Week 5.

Footballguys view: Gaffney's been cut by two teams this year (Redskins, Patriots) so he's just trying to make an impression. We're not expecting him to be much of a fantasy factor - even in deep leagues.

The Miami Dolphins signed WR Jabar Gaffney (Patriots) and released WR Legedu Naanee and DL Andre Fluellen Tuesday, Oct. 2. The team also waived/injured LB Mike Rivera.

Footballguys view: Gaffney was released by both the Redskins and the Patriots earlier this year but we see him as an upgrade over Naanee. Don't rush out and add Gaffney to your lineup as he's the WR3 behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess.

Dolphins | Jabar Gaffney works out     Mon Sep 3, 09:51 AM

Free-agent WR Jabar Gaffney (Patriots) has worked out for the Miami Dolphins.

Patriots | Two players released    Mon Aug 27, 06:04 PM

The New England Patriots have released WR Jabar Gaffney and DE Tim Bulman.

Footballguys view: A bit of a surprise with Gaffney here. He knows the McDaniels system and had gotten quite a bit of work with the first-team before missing time with a quad injury. He's been released twice in the last four months but we don't think he'll have too much of an issue catching on with another team.

Patriots | Three veteran WRs could be on roster bubble    Sun Aug 19, 01:31 PM

Patriots | Jabar Gaffney failing to make an impact in camp     Thu Aug 16, 12:14 PM

New England Patriots WR Jabar Gaffney (quadriceps) has been inconsistent during training camp. He has seen limited reps, and also hasn't been quite as much of a playmaker. Gaffney suffered an injury to his right quadriceps in practice Wednesday, Aug. 15, which could limit his availability.

Footballguys view: Gaffney's on the roster bubble and is a possible cut if he doesn't make a bigger impression in camp.

Patriots | Julian Edelman on the bubble?    Thu May 3, 12:52 PM

Patriots | Crowded at WR    Thu May 3, 08:41 AM

The New England Patriots' signing of WR Jabar Gaffney leaves the team with a crowded receiving corps. Gaffney joins WRs Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Deion Branch, Donte' Stallworth, Anthony Gonzalez, Chad Ochocinco and Julian Edelman. Welker will return as the No. 1 receiver. Lloyd figures to work on the other side. However, after that, it becomes less certain.

Footballguys view: This will be a heated battle between veterans in training camp. Gonzalez has failed to stay healthy during his time in the pros and could be on the bubble if he gets dinged up again.

Patriots | Will sign Jabar Gaffney    Wed May 2, 04:38 PM

Free-agent WR Jabar Gaffney (Redskins) said he will be signing with the New England Patriots. Gaffney expects to sign a deal in the near future.

Footballguys view: The Patriots have now added four WRs as free agents this offseason. Gaffney goes back to New England to join free agent additions Brandon Lloyd, Anthony Gonzalez, and Donte' Stallworth. He had a career high in catches and yards last year for the Redskins and it will be difficult to duplicate that this year in a crowded WR corps. Gaffney has good hands but offers little after the catch.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney cut    Tue May 1, 10:50 AM

The Washington Redskins released WR Jabar Gaffney.

Footballguys view: No surprise here given the Redskins' offseason moves. They added Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan at the start of free agency and no longer have a need for Gaffney. The 31-year old veteran had a career year last season with 68 catches but he does little after the catch. Cutting Gaffney frees up $2.6MM of salary cap space. A team like the Patriots may be interested in Gaffney at the right price.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney could stay with team    Wed Apr 25, 05:57 PM

Redskins | Looking to trade Jabar Gaffney    Wed Apr 18, 04:56 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney said he has been told not to attend the first two weeks of offseason workouts because the team is trying to trade him.

Footballguys view: The Redskins made several additions to the WR corps this offseason through free agency looking for players with bigger playmaking ability. Gaffney's trade value is likely low and Washington may just have to outright cut him if they can't find proper value on the trade market.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney may keep starting job    Fri Mar 23, 01:49 PM

Redskins | Wide receivers need to improve on YAC    Fri Dec 30, 08:24 AM

Washington Redskins wide receivers have had difficulty gaining yards after the catch this season. WRs Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss have gained just 316 yards on 107 catches. 'You've got to make some plays and our guys have improved with that as the year's gone on,' offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney has new career high for yardage    Sat Dec 24, 09:29 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney had six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. Gaffney is up to 886 receiving yards, which is a new career high. He'll look for his first 1,000-yard campaign in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Footballguys view: Gaffney has quietly been very consistent as the #2 wide receiver through multiple QB changes and otherwise rough seas in the Washington offense.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney nearing career high in yardage    Wed Dec 21, 12:01 AM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney needs 34 more yards to set a new career high. 'He's just a very smart route runner and he understands timing,' QB Rex Grossman said Tuesday, Dec. 20. 'A lot of our pass concepts are timed up with your drop - one-hitch throws or no-hitch throws. You can always count on him to be in the right spot to where you could throw with a blindfold on because he's going to be in that area. He's big. He's fast. He's fast enough to run every route.'

Footballguys view: The Redskins have a great matchup vs. the pass this week, so consider Gaffney as an upside flex play if your lineup is thin in the championship.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney effective Week 15    Sun Dec 18, 07:06 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney caught six passes for 85 yards against the New York Giants in Week 15.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney, Santana Moss getting most snaps among WRs    Tue Dec 13, 09:47 PM

As expected, Washington Redskins WRs Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss got the most snaps in Week 14 against the New England Patriots. Gaffney played 61 of the team's 74 offensive snaps, while Moss played 60. After that, there is a big dropoff, with WR Donte' Stallworth next with 37 snaps, and then WR Niles Paul with 18. WR Anthony Armstrong played 11, and WR David Anderson managed 10 snaps to round out the corps.

Footballguys view: Gaffney and Moss are both WR3/Flex level plays with WR2 upside for as long as Rex Grossman is throwing the ball well.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney gets in end zone    Sun Dec 11, 07:35 PM

Redskins | Anthony Armstrong, Fred Davis to be go-to guys?    Sat Dec 3, 10:06 PM

Washington Redskins WR Anthony Armstrong and TE Fred Davis might be the go-to targets for QB Rex Grossman in Week 13 against the New York Jets with CBs Antonio Cromartie and Darrelle Revis working on WRs Jabar Gaffney and Santana Moss.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney surpasses 100-yard mark    Sun Nov 20, 06:37 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney caught seven passes for 115 yards and one touchdown in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Footballguys view: Gaffney is the #1 receiver until Santana Moss returns. With Rex Grossman playing well, he'll be worth a WR3/Flex start vs. the Seahawks if your depth has been sapped.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney played majority of Week 9 snaps     Tue Nov 8, 12:21 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney played in 57 of 67 offensive snaps in Week 9.

Footballguys view: Gaffney has the ability to do more in the Redskins offense if John Beck starts to have more time to throw and more courage to test the defense downfield, but for now he's just an end of the bench WR.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney wants the ball more    Mon Nov 7, 03:11 AM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney is frustrated with his lack of looks. 'I felt a couple times that I got behind the defense and wanted the play, wanted the ball. I don't want to be like a selfish guy,' Gaffney said. He said there are certain times he will look at QB John Beck and say he wants a chance.

Footballguys view: Gaffney needs to get more involved if the Redskins want to get back on the winning track. John Beck has not been the answer at the QB position, so we could see the team turn back to Rex Grossman as their starter.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney leads team's WRs    Sun Oct 16, 07:00 PM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney had two receptions for 55 yards in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles, leading the team's wideouts. He also had a WR-best 10 targets on the afternoon. Reserve WRs Terrence Austin had one catch for 32 yards, while Donte' Stallworth managed 30 yards on three grabs.

Redskins | Jabar Gaffney targeted six times    Tue Sep 27, 12:45 AM

Washington Redskins WR Jabar Gaffney was second on the team in targets in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys with six. He had five catches for 60 yards. He and WR Santana Moss were the only wide receivers with catches. WR Terrence Austin was targeted four times, but he had no catches. WR Anthony Armstrong also played, but wasn't even targeted once.

Footballguys view: Gaffney did fail to get out of bounds on one late catch and didn't make any splashy plays. He likely got more targets because Anthony Armstrong left the game with an injury.

Redskins | Pair of WRs score in opener    Mon Sep 12, 12:48 AM

Washington Redskins WRs Anthony Armstrong and Jabar Gaffney each scored touchdowns in Week 1 against the New York Giants. Armstrong finished with two grabs for 24 yards, while Gaffney was good for 54 yards on three catches.

Footballguys view: Gaffney has good chemistry with Grossman dating back to their days together in college at the University of Florida. Armstrong was able to sneak behind the coverage to get in the endzone. He could have had a bigger day but fails to show proper 'my ball' mentality when passes are contested by cornerbacks.
