The Baltimore Ravens have waived FS Omar Brown, CB Deji Olatoye, WR LaQuan Williams and WR Mike Willie. The team also placed OG Will Rackley (concussion), DE Kapron Lewis-Moore (Achilles') and DE Brent Urban (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list.
Footballguys view: Mike Willie was an interesting player to watch in super deep dynasty leagues because of his size/speed combination. He's just not sticking around at any stop, and it's time for those few of you holding on to let go. |

Patriots | LaQuan Williams released Fri Nov 15, 11:44 AM
The New England Patriots released WR LaQuan Williams.
Footballguys view: Look for Shane Vereen's activation to come before Monday night's game, as this was likely to open a spot for him. He is a boom/bust play because the Patriots could ease him in, but they could also use him as a key part of a gameplan to slow down an aggressive Panthers front seven with more receptions out of the backfield. |

The New England Patriots worked out free-agent WRs Jordan Shipley (Jaguars), WR LaQuan Williams (Ravens) and WR Devon Wylie (Cardinals) Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Footballguys view: The Patriots are likely just updating their emergency list here. When Wylie came out of Fresno State in 2012 there were some in the scouting community who compared him to Danny Amendola because of his quickness and ability to make tough catches underneath. |

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh praised WR LaQuan Williams for his play in the team's first preseason game. "LaQuan played really well," Harbaugh said. "It was good to see him step up and make plays. Here's a guy that just brings his lunch pail every single week. He puts on his blue-collar work shirt and goes to work. He's got tremendous talent. He flashes a lot, but he made plays with consistency, stacked plays. That was good to see."
Footballguys view: Williams is fighting for a spot near the end of the WR bench. Earning praise from Harbaugh will help his case. |

Ravens | Jim Caldwell praises Deonte Thompson Sat Jun 1, 11:30 PM
Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell had positive things to say about second-year wide receiver Deonte Thompson, who's expected to be in the thick of the competition for the second and third wideout spots behind Torrey Smith. 'He's a gifted route-runner, and he is getting better,' Caldwell said about Thompson. 'He's young, and he's developing. ... He understands how to sink his hips. He can do a great job of changing direction.'
Footballguys view: Thompson is incredibly fast and some are predicting he has the lead for the team's WR2 job opposite Torrey Smith. We'll see him compete with Jacoby Jones for that job in training camp. |

Ravens | Tandon Doss trying to make most of opportunity Mon May 13, 06:10 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Tandon Doss is a candidate for a much bigger role in the team's offense after WR Anquan Boldin was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason. Doss should compete for playing time behind WRs Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones and could become the No. 3 receiver. WRs LaQuan Williams, David Reed, Deonte Thompson and Aaron Mellette are the other receiving options that will compete in offseason workouts and training camp. Baltimore is open to signing a veteran wideout to compete in camp, as well.
Footballguys view: Doss is a deep threat who can fly down the field and track the ball. If Jacoby Jones wins the WR2 starting job opposite Torrey Smith then Doss could be considered the favorite to take over Jones' WR3 role. |

Baltimore Ravens DT Haloti Ngata (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 2, and is questionable for Week 9. WR LaQuan Williams (ankle) fully participated in practice and is questionable.

Ravens | Jacoby Jones likely No. 3 receiver Sat Jun 16, 04:27 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones is likely the leading candidate to be the team's No. 3 receiver this year, as he has far more experience and production than that of WRs LaQuan Williams and Tandon Doss. Jones said he is comfortable playing whatever role the team wants him to, and said he is going to have to produce more with fewer opportunities than he had with the Houston Texans.
Footballguys view: Jones has a nice size/speed combination but has never truly played up to his full potential. We'll see if that changes with a fresh start in Baltimore. |

Ravens | LaQuan Williams thinks he needs to make bigger impact at WR Fri Jun 1, 04:27 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR LaQuan Williams said he believes he needs to make a bigger impact on offense as a receiver if he wants to make the final roster this season. He believes he also has to make plays on special teams to help his chance for a roster spot. He has been working on becoming a better route runner this offseason.
Footballguys view: With the addition of Jacoby Jones in free agency and Tommy Streeter in the draft it could push Williams off the roster. He'll have to make a huge impression in camp to keep his job. |

Ravens | Looking for improve WR corps Thu Feb 2, 03:20 PM
Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said the team will be looking to improve their wide receiving corps this offseason and could look to add a receiver through free agency or the 2012 NFL Draft. The team could look to improve their receivers by giving WRs Tandon Doss and LaQuan Williams bigger roles in the offense next season.
Footballguys view: The team needs better play from the entire passing game. That means young WRs like doss and Williams need to elevate their game. It also means that QB Joe Flacco must continue to improve as well, especially since he's looking for a big money extension this offseason. |
