The versatility of Haloti Ngata makes him instrumental to the success of the Raven defense. He has the size and power to anchor the middle as a nose tackle in the 3-4, but also the quickness and athleticism to work at defensive end in that scheme or as the 3-technique tackle in a 4-3. With the Ravens running a hybrid scheme that uses both alignments, Ngata had been a productive every down player for several seasons. His production dropped sharply in 2013 however, with much of the blame attributed to a knee injury that hampered Ngata most of the season. He is healthy heading into 2014 and should return to the 35-40 solo tackles and 4-6 sacks that we have come to expect from him. One issue with Ngata that is important to many fantasy owners is his positional designation. Some league management systems list him as a defensive end while other classify Ngata as a tackle. In leagues that break out these positions Ngata is a perennial top five as an interior lineman. If designated as a DE, his value takes a major hit. (May 26)

Ravens | Three vets have day off (Thu Jul 31, 08:59 AM) - Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs, DT Haloti Ngata and LB Daryl Smith are not practicing Thursday, July 31.

Our View: This will happen during training camp, as there are vets who need a rest much more than they need the practice reps.
