Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey currently ranks fifth among rookie running backs this year with 360 yards, and he's averaging 3.9 yards per carry, and he has just one carry longer than 20 yards in 92 chances. He had 38 yards on his first nine carries in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens, but produced just 20 yards on his final eight carries. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the offensive line needs to do a better job of opening up holes for the rookie running back. The team is choosing to use RB Leon Washington in third down situations. 'I think Bishop will still get a chance to protect and to catch passes on first and second down,' Whisenhunt said. 'But one of the things you try to be consistent with is the protection and working together with those things on third down."
| Footballguys view: Sankey has been holding Sankey back. The line isn't doing him any favors, but great backs can create their own space as a runner. Sankey is a good (not great) all-around back, but he's not overly fast, quick or powerful. |
