Long a standout returner, Leon Washington was released in 2013 and looked to be on his way out before catching on with Tennessee where he ended up with the 4th best yards per kick return in the NFL. The combination of Leon Washington, Dexter McCluster, and Marc Mariani make Tennessee's special teams a deep and elite unit.

Week 12: at Philadelphia Eagles

Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Bishop Sankey put up 11/38/1 rushing and 1/7/0 receiving as the Titans continue to transition to featuring Sankey in the rushing attack - Shonn Greene got just 3/6/0 rushing last week, while Dexter McCluster posted 1/5/0 rushing and 1/17/0 receiving in his change-of-pace/split-out-wide role. Though the Titans didn't try to run the ball much, when they did hand it off last week it went to Sankey more often than not. The Eagles' rush D is ranked 19th in the NFL in terms of rushing yards allowed per game (114.7), but they have only given away five rushing scores so far this year. Last week, Green Bay managed 25/110/1 rushing as a team; Carolina had 32/102/1 rushing vs. Philadelphia two weeks ago. This is a so-so rush D that has given up some rushing TDs of late. The Titans are on the road in this one to hostile Lincoln Financial Field - this looks like a tough matchup for the evolving Tennessee attack.

2014 Week 10 vs BAL (1 / 3 / 0 rush, 3 / 2 / 12 / 1 rec)

Even with Shonn Greene seemingly sidelined because of his fumble, Washington wasn't able to see the field much more than he usually does. Washington did get to score the Titans only touchdown of the game as he caught a pitch behind the line of scrimmage at the goal line. It was a misdirection play, but Washington had to be aggressive to get over the line.

Titans | O-line holding Bishop Sankey back? (Tue Nov 11, 12:00 PM) - Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey currently ranks fifth among rookie running backs this year with 360 yards, and hes averaging 3.9 yards per carry, and he has just one carry longer than 20 yards in 92 chances. He had 38 yards on his first nine carries in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens, but produced just 20 yards on his final eight carries. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the offensive line needs to do a better job of opening up holes for the rookie running back. The team is choosing to use RB Leon Washington in third down situations. 'I think Bishop will still get a chance to protect and to catch passes on first and second down,' Whisenhunt said. 'But one of the things you try to be consistent with is the protection and working together with those things on third down.

Our View: Sankey has been holding Sankey back. The line isn't doing him any favors, but great backs can create their own space as a runner. Sankey is a good (not great) all-around back, but he's not overly fast, quick or powerful.
