Saints | Lance Moore retires with Saints Tue May 30, 07:54 PM
Free-agent WR Lance Moore (Saints) was signed Tuesday, May 30, and retired as a member of the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Toledo in 2005, Moore was one of the hardest workers in the league. His best seasons came with the Saints, and he had over 1,000 yards receiving in 2012. Moore finishes his pro career with 389 catches, 4,816 yards and 44 receiving touchdowns. |

Detroit Lions WR Lance Moore (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 11, and is listed as questionable for the Week 14 game against the St. Louis Rams.

Lions | Calvin Johnson, Lance Moore limited Thu Dec 10, 06:35 PM
Detroit Lions WRs Calvin Johnson (ankle) and Lance Moore (ankle) were both limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.
Footballguys view: We expect Calvin Johnson to be ready to go against St. Louis on Sunday, and he and Matt Stafford have both been heating up (though last week was a down one save for a touchdown). Johnson should put up WR1 numbers this week without a problem as the Rams have nobody who can cover him. |

Lions | Lance Moore to see time in slot Thu Aug 13, 12:11 AM
Detroit Lions WR Lance Moore has experience, knowledge of the offense and ability to play the slot which is likely to give him an edge over other receivers vying for the last spots on the 53-man roster.
Footballguys view: Moore may not be as washed up as his time with the Steelers suggested. Even if he does play in the slot, his fantasy value is almost non-existent. |

Lions | Ryan Broyles on outside looking in? Thu Aug 13, 12:10 AM
Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles is not expected to make the 53-man roster, according to beat writer Tim Twentyman. He feels the Lions will keep five wide receivers with WRs Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Corey Fuller, Jeremy Ross and Lance Moore making the roster.
Footballguys view: Broyles may always be remembered as "what might have been" because of injuries that derailed his career (even back in college). We'll see if he can do enough to make the final roster in Detroit. |

Lions | Detroit's slot WR job up for grabs Mon Jul 6, 07:02 PM
Detroit Lions WRs Jeremy Ross, Corey Fuller, Ryan Broyles and Lance Moore will all be candidates for the slot receiver job during training camp. Ross worked with the first-team offense during offseason workouts, but his roster spot is uncertain at this point.
Footballguys view: RB Theo Riddick could also figure into the mix. Moore is the grizzled veteran of the group and he seems to be happy to be out of Pittsburgh. Broyles' perseverance has to be admired after coming back from yet another catastrophic injury. Ross will likely make the team as a return man, and Fuller has the best deep speed of the group, with some upside as a receiver to spare. When you add in 2014 first-round TE Eric Ebron and redzone monster Joseph Fauria, the Lions have a diverse supporting cast behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate in the passing game. |

Lions | Lance Moore excited to be in Detroit Thu May 28, 08:24 PM
Detroit Lions WR Lance Moore is excited to be back in the offense led by Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. "This is the offense I had the most success in in my career," said Moore. "I played in this offense for eight years and I think Joe Lombardi was there six or seven of those years that I was there,' Moore said Thursday, May 28.
Footballguys view: Moore played under Lombardi during their time together with the New Orleans Saints. The veteran receiver isn't quite the player he used to be, and we're not expecting much from him even though he's got a fresh start with the Lions. |

Lions | Lance Moore contract details Thu May 21, 02:22 PM
Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions WR Lance Moore signed a one-year contract worth $1.05 million. He will earn a base salary of $970,000 after receiving a $40,000 signing bonus. Moore will receive a $40,000 roster bonus if he makes the Lions' Week 1 roster. Earning the minimum salary benefit means Moore will count $655,000 against Detroit's 2015 salary cap.
Footballguys view: It's going to be hard for Moore to see much in the way of targets with Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate and Eric Ebron, who we are predicting a bigger sophomore season from. Right now he is nothing but a deep-round flier. |

Lions | Lance Moore signs with Motown Tue May 12, 01:16 PM
Free-agent WR Lance Moore (Steelers) signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.
Footballguys view: Moore is not the same player he used to be as evidenced by his 2014 season with the Steelers. The Lions have inexperienced--but talented--receivers behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Moore (known mostly for his time in New Orleans) is reunited with former Saints assistant Joe Lombardi, and he gives the team valuable veteran depth at the position. |

Steelers | Lance Moore let go Mon Mar 2, 04:01 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore was released Monday, March 2.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Moore wasn't used that much in Pittsburgh. He only ran 180 routes last year, was targeted a mere 27 times and finished the season with only 14 catches, 198 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Moore isn't the same player he used to be, but it wouldn't shock us to see the Saints bring him back. |

Steelers | Justin Brown ahead of Lance Moore Thu Oct 9, 12:03 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Justin Brown is higher on the depth chart than WR Lance Moore, because the team believes Brown is a better receiver than Moore.
Footballguys view: Well, having someone ahead of someone else on a depth chart is often an indication that the former is better at the position than the latter, but that's just us. In other obvious news. neither Brown nor Moore is worth having in your lineup. Dynasty owners, take note of Brown's ascension here. |

Steelers | Lance Moore won't play Fri Sep 5, 04:31 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore (groin) did not practice Friday, Sept. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. It'll open up snaps for WRs Justin Brown and/or Martavis Bryant (shoulder), but Bryant is unlikely to play because of a shoulder ailment. That means Brown and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will likely be used alongside WRs Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. Browns CB Joe Haden is likely to lock on to Brown for the majority of the game, meaning the other receivers could see good opportunities to make an impact.

Steelers | Darrius Heyward-Bey in good shape Thu Aug 28, 01:01 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey appears to be in good shape for a roster spot, as the team will likely keep six receivers on the 53-man roster. WRs Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton, Lance Moore, Martavis Bryant, Justin Brown and Heyward-Bey are expected to comprise the group.
Footballguys view: DHB has always looked good and always played with aggressive mediocrity. There is some room for him to step up, but we don't expect it anymore this time than the last dozen or so times we were told "this is the year." Looking at that list of receivers, it's hard to imagine him cracking the lineup on a regular basis barring massive injuries. |

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Justin Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Derek Moye are still battling for the No. 5 wide receiver job. WRs Antonio Brown, Lance Moore, Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant hold the top four spots on the depth chart.
Footballguys view: Justin Brown has been the subject of some positive reports and he should be seen as the leader right now. Heyward-Bey would add speed, and Moye would be the biggest receiver on the roster, so this will be an interesting battle to watch. |

Steelers | Will use no huddle more often? Fri Jun 20, 11:43 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore said he expects the team to use the no-huddle offense extensively this upcoming season based on offseason workouts.
Footballguys view: We've heard the use of a no-huddle offense will be more prevalent for the Steelers in 2014. Todd Haley's offense is pretty boring, so we'll see if this helps spice things up. We're not expecting a ton of production from Moore, but know that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger finished 2013 as the 8th-best fantasy QB. He could be top 12 again this year. |

Steelers | Three-way battle for No. 5 WR job? Sat Jun 7, 10:27 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton and Lance Moore are expected to be the team's top three wideouts, with WR Martavis Bryant likely a lock to also make the roster. That leaves one job open, with WRs Justin Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Derek Moye likely battling it out for the spot.
Footballguys view: We like Moye here. He's skinny, but he can fly down the field and track passes over his shoulder. Heyward-Bey is the best run-blocker of the group, but he has difficulty catching passes. That's kind of a bad thing when you're a wide receiver. |

Steelers | Two WRs fielding punts Thu May 29, 09:32 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Lance Moore and Martavis Bryant are among the players that have fielded punts during organized team activities this week.
Footballguys view: We could see Bryant back there if he doesn't move up the depth chart quickly. He's got the talent to be a starter opposite Antonio Brown, but Bryant will have to beat out Moore and Markus Wheaton if he wants to be more than the team's fourth WR in 2014. |

Steelers | Lance Moore could start Sun May 25, 08:08 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore could start at wide receiver this upcoming season and move to the slot receiver when the team lines up with three or more receivers.
Footballguys view: Moore is best served as a part-time player from the slot in our opinion. He's a good pro, but injuries have always seemed to hold him back. We'll see Moore compete with second-year pro Markus Wheaton for the starting job opposite Antonio Brown. |
