Summary

Wheaton's tenure with the Steelers ended with more disappointment. He tried to play through a torn labrum in his right shoulder but eventually went on injured reserve and had the injury surgically repaired. The Bears believe there is something there after Wheaton habitually underwhelmed in Pittsburgh, signing him to a two-year, 11 million dollar deal with six million dollars guaranteed. Wheaton has the speed to stretch the field outside, and he could see the field in three-wide sets with Cameron Meredith shifting inside to the slot, although the Bears have reloaded at tight end, so three-wide personnel groups might not be the norm. The Bears will certainly attempt to get their money's worth out of Wheaton, but it's difficult to see those efforts resulting in fantasy relevance. (August 13)

Bears | Markus Wheaton dealing with another injury (Sun Aug 13, 02:44 PM) - Chicago Bears WR Markus Wheaton (finger) has been diagnosed with a broken finger on his left hand. Wheaton recently returned to practice after missing time with an appendectomy.

Our View: It's always something with Wheaton. Even with a fresh start this year with the Bears, we weren't expecting much from Wheaton. He's been a career disappointment ever since the Steelers selected him as a third-round pick out of Oregon State in 2013.
