Bengals | Brad Kaaya claimed by Bengals Mon Feb 11, 05:00 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals claimed QB Brad Kaaya off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Feb. 11.
Footballguys view: The Bengals need a camp arm and that's what Kaaya is. A sixth-round pick of the Lions in the 2017 NFL draft, Kaaya has bounced around to a few different teams in his short pro career. |

Colts | Brad Kaaya lands with Indianapolis Tue Dec 26, 09:21 PM
The Indianapolis Colts signed QB Brad Kaaya off the Detroit Lions' practice squad Tuesday, Dec. 26.
Footballguys view: Kaaya was a sixth-round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2017 NFL draft. He was released at final cuts and added to the Panthers roster where he spent a bit of time active (Weeks 1-6). The Lions then added him back and now the Colts have picked him up. In three years playing college ball for the Miami Hurricanes, Kaaya finished as the all-time leading passer for his school. Kaaya never quite developed as a prospect, but he's got some tools as a passer. We'll monitor him but only in super deep dynasty leagues. |

Lions | Detroit adds Brad Kaaya to practice squad Wed Oct 25, 01:14 PM
The Detroit Lions added free-agent QB Brad Kaaya (Lions) to the practice squad Wednesday, Oct. 25, after he cleared waivers Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Footballguys view: The Lions drafted Kaaya in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He didn't make the 53-man roster at final cuts and the Lions waived him. The Panthers scooped him up, but he was only on their practice squad for a little over a month. They waived Kaaya and the Lions get him back as a developmental player. |

Lions | Jake Rudock heavy favorite for No. 2 QB job Sun Jun 18, 04:53 PM
Detroit Lions QB Jake Rudock is the heavy favorite to win the backup quarterback job entering training camp because he has more knowledge and experience in offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter's offensive scheme than QB Brad Kaaya.
Footballguys view: Rudock is a savvy quarterback, and he's got a leg up over Kaaya because of his experience. Kaaya is a good pocket passer but somewhat robotic when he has to go off script. |

Lions | Brad Kaaya still picking up the offense Sun Jun 11, 09:01 PM
Detroit Lions QB Brad Kaaya is still picking up the offense and wasn't making reads quickly during OTAs, in the opinion of DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman.
Footballguys view: Kaaya was an interesting player early in his college career at Miami. He failed to develop fully on that natural talent his displayed during the first two years with the Hurricanes. The Lions took a chance on him in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft, and his skill set compares favorably to Cody Kessler on a bad day. He'll compete with Jake Rudock for the primary backup job to Matthew Stafford...and it's likely that Rudock has a head start Kaaya can't catch as a rookie. |

Lions | Detroit signs all eight draft picks Fri May 12, 02:20 PM
Detroit Lions first-round LB Jarrad Davis, second-round CB Teez Tabor, third-round WR Kenny Golladay, fourth-round TE Michael Roberts, fourth-round LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin, fifth-round CB Jamal Agnew, sixth-round QB Brad Kaaya and seventh-round DE Pat O'Connor signed their four-year rookie deals Friday, May 12. Financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Golladay is big, swift and able to haul in deep passes. He'll be worked into a larger role with the Lions offense, but may be limited as a rookie. Roberts is a "Y" tight end who can block and was known in college at Toledo as a TD hog. Kaaya is a developmental quarterback who will compete with Jake Rudock for the primary backup job behind Matthew Stafford. |

Lions | Brad Kaaya could be backup QB Sun Apr 30, 10:00 PM
Detroit Lions QB Brad Kaaya will compete with QB Jake Rudock to be the backup quarterback this fall, according to beat writer Dave Birkett.
Footballguys view: Rudock is tough and plays with moxie while Kaaya can make plays from the pocket but struggles on the run. The Lions don't have anything to worry about so long as Matthew Stafford stays healthy. Neither Rudock or Kaaya get us too excited in super deep dynasty leagues. |

Texans | Houston meeting with Brad Kaaya Wed Apr 19, 02:33 PM
Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya is meeting with the Houston Texans Wednesday, April 19.
Footballguys view: The Texans are looking for a rookie quarterback, and the buzz is they really want Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech). If they can't get him in the first round, then perhaps someone like Kaaya would be an option in the second. Kaaya is good from the pocket and he can throw with touch. His deep passes sail, and he'll need to make better decisions as a thrower outside the pocket to be a good pro. |

NFL | Brad Kaaya dealing with turf toe Sun Apr 2, 10:46 PM
Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya (toe) was unable to run the 40-yard dash at his pro day workout because he is dealing with turf toe on his right foot.
Footballguys view: Kaaya is an interesting developmental prospect, but nobody really needs to worry about his 40 time. He's not a scrambling quarterback, but Kaaya was a pocket passer in college with a quick release. Kaaya doesn't have a rocket arm, but he doesn't get himself into too much trouble by hanging passes out there. Instead, he'll work through progressions quickly and challenge a defense at the sidelines. Pass placement and accuracy are his biggest trouble spots. Kaaya is a mid-round pick who could eventually develop into a starter. |

Steelers | Pittsburgh keeping tabs on Brad Kaaya Fri Mar 31, 09:59 PM
Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya's pro day workout Wednesday, March 29, was observed by Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert.
Footballguys view: Kaaya is an interesting developmental QB to monitor. His accuracy kept going up during his college career at Miami, and Kaaya is a rare pro-style pocket passer. Kaaya can maneuver in the pocket to avoid pressure, but if he can he will rush throws early rather than challenge defenses downfield. His arm strength is a concern at the pro level. Kaaya might go off the board in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. |

Steelers | Pittsburgh talks with Brad Kaaya Wed Mar 29, 02:03 PM
Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya met with representatives from the Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday, March 28.
Footballguys view: The Steelers could use a young QB to groom behind Ben Roethlisberger. Kaaya has operated under center as a three year starter for the Miami Hurricanes. His arm strength and pass placement needs work before he'll be ready for a pro game. |

Chiefs | Kansas City meets with several QB prospects Sun Mar 5, 06:20 PM
The Kansas City Chiefs met with North Carolina QB Mitchell Trubisky, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes, Pittsburgh QB Nate Peterman and Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs could use a young passer to groom behind Alex Smith. This could be the year they select a quarterback with a premium pick. Depending on how the draft shakes out, we could see the Chiefs looking at someone like Mahomes near the end of the first round. |
