Week 15: at Buffalo Bills
FBG says: Bad matchup. The Lions' new-look passing game is struggling, to say the least. Over 6 games since trading away Golden Tate, Matthew Stafford has gone into a shell, averaging just 6.1 yards per attempt and 213 per game. He's thrown just four touchdowns over that span. Clearly missing his top underneath threat, Stafford is crumbling to pressure (24 sacks) and has yet to spur his offense to anything notable. It didn't help, of course, for Marvin Jones to land on injured reserve. That's left almost no weaponry to speak of beyond Kenny Golladay and third-down back Theo Riddick. Golladay is a truly intriguing playmaker, but he's not yet capable of carrying a passing game on his back. Last Sunday, he tangled with Arizona's Patrick Peterson and managed just five yards on four targets. Things don't look brighter with a date with shutdown cornerback Tre'Davious White on the docket. Golladay would produce much better results with some help across the formation, but the trio of T.J. Jones, Bruce Ellington, and Andy Jones don't pull defenses away. And even Ellington, who's served as Tate's replacement in the slot, went down Sunday with a hamstring injury. All told, this is one of fantasy's least desirable units to target right now. This mess will almost certainly take an offseason to sort out, and it's hard to project any efficiency whatsoever against the Bills' stout pass defense. The Buffalo pass defense hasn't been tested by much good quarterbacking, but has taken on all comers and now stands as one of the league's stingiest units. It all starts with top cornerback Tre'Davious White, who's been arguably the league's most dominant cover man throughout the year. White isn't necessarily a shadow guy, following the top receiver across the field, but he's a huge reason the Bills are rarely beaten by outside receivers. Dating back to Week 5, only 2 wideouts - the Jets' Robby Anderson and Patriots slot man Julian Edelman - have topped 70 yards in this matchup. Between White's dominance and the strong help coverage of safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, this secondary is a minefield that's neutralized both strong and weak passers. Their job is made even easier by a pass rush that consistently pushes the pocket and wins on the edges. Kenny Golladay now represents most of the Lions' aerial attack, and he'll draw the full focus of this opportunistic secondary Sunday. The Bills haven't allowed even a 200-yard passer since Tom Brady in Week 8, and the odds are stacked firmly against Matthew Stafford bucking that trend.

Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 12 vs CHI (6 / 3 / 16 / 0 rec)
Michael Roberts saw more usage in the offense against Chicago but did not have a productive game. Roberts was targeted on both of Matthew Stafford's interceptions. The first interception was a pick-6 where Stafford threw the ball inside of Roberts on an out to the flat, while the second appeared to be a miscommunication on routes in the end zone. Roberts was also targeted up the seam in the end zone, but a Chicago defender made a good deflection on the pass. Roberts has been more involved in the offense throughout this season but struggles to accelerate and move in space.
2018 Week 9 vs MIN (4 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
Michael Roberts had a quiet day with only one reception for 12 yards, but his usage is notable. Roberts was running as the single tight end at points throughout the game in the base offense beyond his typical red zone usage. There are targets available with the recent trade of Golden Tate if Roberts continues to progress.
2018 Week 7 vs MIA (3 / 3 / 48 / 2 rec)
Michael Roberts had a career game with two red zone touchdowns. The first was an easy corner route and the second was an out route at the goal line. Roberts was schemed open on the corner route, a notable development for a strong red zone target. Roberts was also pushed out of bounds inside the five-yard line to set up another score.
2018 Week 2 vs SF (1 / 1 / 15 / 1 rec)
Michael Roberts made the most of his lone target converting a high point end zone target for a touchdown. Roberts has a big frame, but with the other receiving options in the offense, is likely limited to a red zone target for Matthew Stafford.
