2016 Week 5 vs TB (18 / 85 / 2 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

With the game script allowing the Panthers to stick with the ground game, Cameron Artis-Payne settled into a rhythm. The Buccaneers' front seven was depleted due to injury, and particularly in the second half Artis-Payne found a lot of gaps to run through. He did so with decisiveness and a bullish approach that continued to eek out decent yardage. The Panthers' offensive line must be credited for consistently excellent run blocking, especially in the second half. Artis-Payne was the beneficiary of a terrific block from left guard Andrew Norwell on his second touchdown run. Norwell annihilated a pursuing defender on a toss left, bulldozing a lane for Artis-Payne to scoot into the end zone. The running back's first touchdown came on a 4th-and-goal carry, as Ron Rivera rolled the dice. Artis-Payne delivered, running behind a Mike Tolbert lead block and diving for the goal line.

2016 Week 4 vs ATL (6 / 12 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)

As soon as the game script turned the way of Atlanta, Cameron Artis-Payne's involvement in the game came to a screeching halt. Primarily used as a first and second down back, he was ineffective against a stout Atlanta front seven that seemed to have the Panthers' number. Artis-Payne was marginalized quickly and gave way to Fozzy Whittaker as the Panthers went to a pass-heavy offense.

2016 Week 3 vs MIN (12 / 47 / 0 rush, 1 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)

Cameron Artis-Payne showed a nice burst and north-south approach with his touches, displaying a no-nonsense streak of aggressiveness between the tackles. A beautiful run behind RG Trai Turner kicked it off, as he barrelled through contact for 12 yards and a first down. His quick feet allowed him to find small lanes to run through, but for the most part he was bottled up by a gap-sound Vikings team. Artis-Payne had a nice read to bounce a run outside with Carolina backed up inside the five, but it was called back by a holding penalty. It was astory of almost against a stout defense, but Artis-Payne showed the traits that will earn him more touches in the coming games.
