Footballguys view: Pierre-Paul has been on fire in the sack column going into this one. With McCoy hurting, the Bucs will be hamstrung in their ability to slow down the Panthers hot offense on Sunday if they are missing their two best defensive linemen.

Buccaneers | Ronald Jones to miss time    Mon Oct 29, 05:15 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a strained hamstring and is expected to miss a few weeks, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Bad news for the rookie running back here. Just when you thought he would emerge with a banged up Peyton Barber, we see Barber get healthy quick and Jones get banged up. If Jones misses a few weeks, the Buccaneers will use Jacquizz Rodgers and Shaun Wilson as the primary backups to Barber.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones is expected to be active for Week 4's game against the Chicago Bears, according to a league source.

Footballguys view: Jones probably won't have a large role and the Bucs running game has been stuck in neutral, but he's worth a pre-emptive pickup in deep leagues.

Buccaneers | Ronald Jones behind the aerial curve    Tue Aug 21, 10:43 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones is working on his skills as a receiver. 'In college, there's probably a reason they only threw to (Jones) 17 times,' running backs coach Tim Spencer said. 'But I think he's worked on his game, he's worked on his hands, his eyes. To me, (the thing) I see with him, is eye-hand coordination and following the ball, concentrating and believing you can get the job done.'

Footballguys view: Jones is behind the curve as a runner and receiver this preseason. Peyton Barber looks to be the starter for the beginning of the regular season. Jones has an explosive skill set but the rookie is going to be competing for touches as a change-of-pace back behind Barber. If he plays well in that role, then perhaps later on he could challenge for more playing time.

Buccaneers | Coach not worried about Ronald Jones     Sun Aug 19, 12:04 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones rushed four times for two yards in a 30-14 preseason win over the Tennessee Titans Saturday, Aug. 18, but head coach Dirk Koetter said the performance had nothing to do with Jones' effort. 'We just haven't been able to spring him loose,' Koetter said.

Footballguys view: Jones is the #2 back in Tampa, but his ADP doesn't reflect that yet. If that doesn't change, it might be best to let someone else draft him.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber considered starter    Mon Aug 13, 01:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber is currently considered the team's starting running back, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. Koetter said the team also plans to use RB Ronald Jones this season but thought Jones' performance in the first preseason game was average.

Footballguys view: Barber is a good all-purpose back who could outperform his current ADP of RB53 (13.01) in 12-team PPR leagues. Jones is an exciting rookie with gamebreaking speed but he still has plenty to learn (pass protection, etc) in order to get a larger role.

Buccaneers | Mixed review for Ronald Jones    Fri Aug 10, 09:26 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones' performance in his first preseason game was called 'average' by head coach Dirk Koetter, but Koetter praised Jones for his pass protection.

Footballguys view: Jones had eight carries for nine yards and one rushing touchdown in the Bucs preseason opener. The rookie from USC is clearly behind Peyton Barber on the depth chart. When he plays up to his potential there is speed and playmaking ability...and it's good news that his pass protection is worthy of praise. We'll see if the dynamic rookie can make a push for more first-team reps as training camp and the preseason rolls on.
