Week 11: vs New Orleans Saints

All QB vs NO

FBG says: Neutral matchup. By now, those playing Jameis Winston in fantasy have to be used to his volatility. They're happy and confident with his volume (39 attempts per game) and big-play tendencies (13.0 yards per completion), but they also know he's a weekly candidate to collapse into a mess of turnovers and missed opportunities. He's sporting a high 3.9% interception rate, and he's had even more dropped by opposing defenses. Luckily, he teams with one of football's most imposing and dynamic groups of receivers. Mike Evans remains a walking mismatch, dominating down the field en route to 17.1 yards per catch. He's averaged 103 per game, the best of his scintillating 6-year career, and has already topped 180 three times. Evans was held catch-less in this matchup back in Week 5, but if he doesn't have to deal with Marshon Lattimore Sunday, he'll project through the roof. When opponents do move their attention to him, Chris Godwin absolutely excels in the slot. Godwin has drawn 8+ targets in 7 of 9 games thus far, and he's averaging 93 of his own. Even forgotten man O.J. Howard got in on the party last week, turning a season-high 7 looks into 47 yards and a touchdown. This passing game is so electric that it succeeds even when Winston is off his game, and the receivers are weekly fantasy studs. For his part, Winston yo-yos from erratic to explosive as much as anyone, but always has volume and deep-ball opportunity on his side. The Saints pass defense has been one of the league's best over the past 6 weeks, allowing just 207 yards per game and 6 touchdowns. Over that span, they've held a handful of strong passers - including this week's opponent, Jameis Winston - to near-season lows. But it's fair to wonder how they'll show without shutdown cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who's week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Lattimore was the driving force in stifling Mike Evans (catchless on three targets) back in Week 5, as well as the likes of Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, and D.J. Chark. Eli Apple has been strong across the field, but now P.J. Williams will be put on the spot, and he's been one of football's weakest cover men for most of the past two seasons. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson will likely move into the slot, where faces a daunting welcome from Chris Godwin. At least they can count on dynamic help coverage from free safety Marcus Williams, who's developed into an explosive playmaker on the ball. And their job is made easier by a top-tier pass rush, currently fourth league-wide in pressure rate. But overall, the one-on-one matchups take a big hit without Lattimore, which keeps both Evans and Godwin in firm WR1 consideration.
