Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch won't be ready    Mon Dec 21, 07:17 PM

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) is making good progress but will not return to practice this week and won't be ready to play in Week 16 against the St. Louis Rams, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: The Seahawks haven't set a timetable for when Lynch might return, and Seattle hopes he can help them in January for the playoffs. RBs Christine Michael and Bryce Brown will continue sharing in the backfield with Lynch out. Michael is the lead back fantasy owners should focus on. He's naturally talented but has been a disappointment so far in his pro career.

Seahawks | Seattle backfield a mystery    Fri Dec 18, 07:44 PM

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll admitted that no starting running back has been named for Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns, and that everyone will find out come game time. RBs Bryce Brown, Christine Michael and Fred Jackson will all play in some capacity, and Carroll admitted that Brown and Michael are up to speed on the playbook. Even FB Derrick Coleman could see some work.

Footballguys view: No running back is a good play this week against Cleveland, but the quality of the matchup could make Brown a shot in the dark that lands. Michael is worth a pickup in deep leagues in case he asserts himself for Week 16 against St. Louis.

Seahawks | Trio to split RB workload    Thu Dec 17, 09:00 AM

Seattle Seahawks RB Bryce Brown and RB Christine Michael are expected to share the early down carries in Week 15 with RB Fred Jackson in on third downs, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Sheil Kapadia.

Footballguys view: So basically, don't start these guys as you have no idea how the split will go. If you're in a pinch, Jackson might at least vulture some touchdowns and be an RB5.

Seahawks | Fred Jackson will be third-down back    Mon Dec 14, 06:36 PM

Seattle Seahawks RB Fred Jackson will continue to be the team's third-down back, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: Keep this in mind if you're rushing to the waiver wire to replace Rawls. RBs DuJuan Harris and Bryce Brown are candidates to fill RB Thomas Rawls' (ankle) role in the running game.

Seahawks | Bryce Brown cut    Sat Nov 28, 04:38 PM

Seattle Seahawks RB Bryce Brown was released Saturday, Nov. 28.

Seahawks | Bryce Brown cut    Sat Nov 21, 04:55 PM

Seattle Seahawks RB Bryce Brown was waived Saturday, Nov. 21, the team announced.

Footballguys view: Brown is one of those RBs (like Christine Michael) who has enough natural talent to make it in the NFL. However, (like Michael) Brown has other issues that prevent him from playing up to his potential. With so many RBs out there on the open market, we can't see many teams falling all over themselves to add Brown.

Seahawks | Bryce Brown signs    Tue Oct 27, 05:39 PM

Free-agent RB Bryce Brown (Bills) signed with the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Footballguys view: An interesting signing for the Seahawks here. Brown is a talented runner who has bounced around the league, likely due to motivation issues. He'll need to prove that he can be focused, hang onto the rock and produce in practice if he wants his stay on the team to be more than a short-term stop.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams (concussion) is listed as day-to-day and must be cleared from the NFL-mandated concussion protocol before he can play in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: The Bills may turn to Anthony Dixon and Cierre Wood if both Williams and RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) cannot play this weekend against the Titans. General manager Doug Whaley said the team could sign another runner this week, and they could re-sign RB Bryce Brown, who was released last month.

Bills | Bryce Brown released    Tue Sep 15, 04:30 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown was released Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Footballguys view: Brown has a ton of talent, but he's a bit of a knucklehead and has not matured on the field. He'll play fast and loose with the ball, plus Brown looks to make a big play on most every carry by bouncing outside. Some team should take a chance on him because of his explosive skill set, but the Bills gave up a fourth-round pick for him and they've moved on after only 15 months.

The Buffalo Bills have declared DL Andre Fluellen, RB Bryce Brown, TE Chris Gragg, QB EJ Manuel, OG Gabe Ikard, WR Marquise Goodwin, LB Tony Steward inactive for Week 1.

Bills | Bryce Brown to see some action    Wed Sep 9, 10:21 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown is expected to see a good chunk of action in Week 1, in the opinion of FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez.

Footballguys view: That's an interesting note from Marvez, and one fantasy owners should be dialed in on. Both LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and rookie Karlos Williams (abdomen) are working back from injury, so the team might choose to ease both into action. This could open the door for Brown to do more. However, we don't think it will be enough to make him fantasy relevant--even as a what the heck flex--in Week 1.

Bills | Concern LeSean McCoy won't be ready?    Wed Sep 2, 12:32 PM

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) seems to be in some danger of missing the season opener Sept. 13. 'Well we certainly expect him to be ready to go, I hope,' coach Rex Ryan said Monday, Aug. 31. 'If not then the next man has to step up. Boobie (Anthony Dixon) got a lot of reps out there today. Bryce Brown got a lot of reps today. So we will see. I am not going to put that all on one man. If he is not ready to go, he won't be in there.'

Footballguys view: The Bills earlier expressed confidence that McCoy would be ready to start the regular season. Now, it seems like he's in danger of missing the season debut. Stay tuned as we will know more about his availability next week in practice.

Bills | Two Bills RBs return    Thu Aug 27, 12:16 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown (hamstring) and RB Anthony Dixon (calf) returned to practice Thursday, Aug. 27.

Footballguys view: Mostly depth backs, the Bills could find themselves in need of one or both, considering both Fred Jackson and LeSean McCoy's propensity to get banged up. Neither one is anything but a deep, deep bench warmer though and unless there is an injury, they aren't worth having on the roster.

Bills | Bryce Brown injury update    Mon Aug 17, 04:17 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown (hamstring) left practice Sunday, Aug. 16, because of a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Hamstring injuries will linger if not treated properly. We'll see if Brown can rebound from this latest setback and impress.

Bills | Karlos Williams could be No. 2 RB    Mon Aug 17, 08:18 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams has a legitimate shot to be the backup running back with RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) and RB Bryce Brown (hamstring) banged up. He has run decisively and been explosive with 63 total yards and a touchdown in the first preseason game.

Footballguys view: Williams is a no-nonsense runner, and his determination helps him stand out after contact. We still like Jackson as the RB2 for Buffalo behind LeSean McCoy, but the old veteran needs to get healthy after dealing with this hamstring injury.

Bills | Bryce Brown leaves practice    Sun Aug 16, 11:59 AM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown (undisclosed) left practice early Sunday, Aug. 16, because of an undisclosed injury.

Footballguys view: Brown flashed on a few runs in the preseason, but that is nothing new for him. Fumbles and disciplined running has been an issue, and now Brown is dealing with an injury. Rookie Karlos Williams could take his roster or at least relegate Brown to a lower spot on the depth chart.

Bills | Coach looking for Bryce Brown to improve    Thu Aug 13, 03:24 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown needs to improve his ball security in the near future, according to running backs coach Anthony Lynn. 'To be honest with you,' Lynn said, 'I haven't seen as much improvement as I was hoping to see. Right now, over his career, he's putting the ball on the ground every 56 touches. Whereas, LeSean is putting it on the ground every 125 touches. So I want to see more progress and I want to see it quickly.' Lynn said Brown has the qualities to be a solid running back if he can stop his fumbling issues.

Footballguys view: Brown is talented, but he's never played up to his potential as a pro (or really as a collegian). We're not expecting him to turn things around now. Brown is not a lock for the roster in Buffalo.

Bills | Bryce Brown fumbling away job?    Mon Aug 10, 11:39 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown lost fumbles in consecutive practices Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, to slip behind RB Karlos Williams on the depth chart. With RBs LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon on the roster, it might be between Williams and Brown for a roster spot.

Footballguys view: The story with Brown will always come down to untapped potential. He's a talented runner, but the ball-security problems he has will prevent him from seeing the field much at all--if he even makes the team.

Bills | C.J. Spiller unlikely to return in 2015?    Tue Dec 23, 08:21 PM

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller has just a 30% chance to re-sign with the team as an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, according to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. 'The writing was on the wall for Spiller the moment the Bills traded for running back Bryce Brown in May, and nothing that has happened this season makes it any more likely the team's 2010 first-round pick would return for a sixth season,' Skurski wrote.

Footballguys view: We wouldn't even put that line at 30 percent. There's more likely a future for the Bills that doesn't include Spiller. A first-round pick in 2010, Spiller has yet to fully play up to his potential as a pro outside of one season (2012). During the 2012 season, Spiller had over 1,700 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns. Since then, injuries and inconsistencies have held him back.

Bills | Anthony Dixon, Bryce Brown shared work    Mon Nov 17, 02:46 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon played 33 offensive snaps in the team's Week 11 game, while RB Bryce Brown received 28 offensive snaps.

Footballguys view: Those numbers will change this week. Fred Jackson will return to the lineup after missing the Week 11 game because it was on Thursday night. The extra bit of rest could help Jackson look better than he did in Week 10.

Bills | Bryce Brown starting Thursday    Thu Nov 13, 07:20 PM

Bills | Anthony Dixon working with starters    Wed Oct 22, 01:53 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon is working with the starters in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. RB Bryce Brown is working with the second-string offense.

Footballguys view: Those rushing out to get Brown on the waiver wire may be chasing fool's gold. Sure, Brown is an incredibly talented runner, but he lacks discipline and tries to bounce too many runs outside. Dixon is more of a disciplined runner, and he should be the lead back while Fred Jackson is out.

Bills | Anthony Dixon likely the guy    Wed Oct 22, 10:26 AM

The Buffalo Bills love RB Anthony Dixon, and he's likely to lead the way at running back over RB Bryce Brown.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to realize this Bills RB situation will be split between two backs. Dixon is a power back with determination in the middle of the line. Brown is a more explosive player, but he lacks discipline as a runner and tries to bounce too many runs outside.

Bills | Bryce Brown not in immediate plans    Thu Oct 16, 04:44 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown expected to be used a lot more than he has been when he was traded to the team in the offseason, and head coach Doug Marrone has no urgency to get him on the field anytime soon. 'He's here for a while. I'm not concerned about (getting him on the field soon),' Marrone said. Brown remains on the scout team in practice.

Footballguys view: If you can get Brown cheap in dynasty, this might be the time as next year could be his chance. Fred Jackson signed an extension earlier this year, but C.J. Spiller is in the final year of his contract.

Bills | Continue to rave about Bryce Brown    Sat Aug 9, 04:16 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown was praised by head coach Doug Marrone, who said he thought he could be a starter in the league. Brown had 64 yards on 11 carries in the first preseason game. 'I think, in my mind Bryce Brown is a very talented running back that has the potential to start in the NFL,' Marrone said. 'So I think what happens a lot, when he is in the game I think he is one of the better players on the field. So, his production is not surprising for any one of us.'

Footballguys view: Brown is a player who could be in line for a large role with the Bills....next season. They traded with the Eagles to secure his services, but this season he's behind both C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson on the depth chart. Jackson signed an extension earlier this year, but Spiller is in the final year of his deal. If (when) Spiller moves on, then Brown could see a greater opportunity.

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon was listed as the No. 3 back on the team's first official depth chart with RB Bryce Brown listed as the No. 4 back.

Footballguys view: Interesting note here. The Bills traded for Brown, and he could be the lead back next year if C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson move on in free agency after this year. Dixon is a running back/fullback 'tweener and has decent power between the tackles. We'll see if he can hold off Brown during the rest of camp.
