Marcell Dareus has been a frustrating player at times because he clearly has enough ability to be one of the very best at his position. There were clear signs last year that he was starting to reach his potential as he posted 70 combined tackles and 7.5 sacks, but he was benched late in the year for being late to team meetings and then arrested in the offseason for marijuana possession. It was apparently his first violation of the league's substance abuse policy, but he could still be susceptible to a suspension. It's time for the former 3rd overall pick to mature and become a truly dominant player. If that happens, the Bills defensive line may be too much for most teams to handle. Either way, he should once again be considered a clear fantasy starter at a position which is not very deep. (May 24)

Bills | Marcell Dareus back on active roster (Thu Jul 24, 05:55 PM) - Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus has returned to the team's active roster after passing his physical.

Our View: Dareus has a ton of talent, but his off field antics have to be wearing thin. He showed up to camp out of shape after getting arrested twice this offseason. The Bills have him under contract for two more years, and he may not get a long-term deal from the team if he doesn't clean some stuff up.

Bills | Marcell Dareus entering treatment (Tue Jul 22, 10:53 AM) - Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus has agreed to enter an NFL substance abuse program as he works to have felony drug charges dismissed, according to Rod Giddens, Dareus' attorney. Dareus was given permission to enter the program at a hearing in Calhoun County Court in Alabama Monday, July 21.

Our View: Charges levied on May 5 of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia will be dismissed and perhaps expunged should he complete the required activities. With the legal process exhausted, the NFL could step in and discipline Dareus with fines and/or a suspension.
