Week 7: vs New York Jets

All RB vs NYJ

FBG says: Neutral matchup. The Dolphins have changed their direction in their offense over the last two games going with a run-heavy offense relying on Jay Ajayi and Damien Williams as the Dolphins have 31 carries per game over the last two games. The Dolphins have not been overly successful running the ball even though they are committing to it as they are averaging just 3.8 yards per carry in those two games although they did average 4.5 yards per carry in Atlanta. The offensive line continues to be an issue for the Dolphins this season especially up the middle as Anthony Steen and Jermon Bushrod have both struggled so far this season at the guard position and center Mike Pouncey is also having a down year at the center position. The passing game is doing this rushing attack no favors as teams are continuously forcing the team to beat them in the air instead of on the ground. This rushing attack struggled the first time these two teams met as Jay Ajayi had 11 carries for just 16 yards. The Jets rushing defense has taken a big step up after a weak start to the season. In the first two games of the season, the Jets were allowing 185 yards per game and since then they are averaging just 115 yards per game over the last four games. Linebacker Darron Lee continues to be a major problem on this defense as he is one of the worst run stopping linebacker in the NFL this season, but Kony Ealy and the defensive line, as well as Demario Davis, have improved over tremendously since the beginning of the season turning this defense into a better defense than what statistically they are showing. It still is not a great rush defense, but it is showing significant signs of improvement.
